I've been thinking for a while and… I'm starting to think the antis are right… Stancest is gross and doesn't make any sense.

Like, yeah they're weird old men but if you were to ask either Stan if he liked the other in that way, they'd both scoff and yell "That's disgusting, he's my BROTHER!!! I only cuddle with him and french-kiss him PLATONICALLY!!!"

It's so gross. Stan would probably start crying from someone suggesting such heinous things about how he loves his brother that he cares about so much. Ford would then try to calm him down by kissing him on the cheek then slowly moving over to nibble on his ear (PLATONICALLY). They then start making out in a brotherly display of affection.

Once their lips break apart, they catch their breaths and look into each other's eyes... then at you. After a brief moment of their brotherly love radiating around you, Stan breaks the silence to say "April Fools, kid." Ford nods and follows with "I do fuck my brother."

You would probably respond with something along the lines of "Oh that makes sense. Thank you for the clarification."

Ford replies "No problem.

As Stan and Ford hold hands and board the Stan O War II, you walk away, realizing that you just wasted 3 minutes of your life reading a haphazardly written April Fools post about two old men being gay for each other and also twin brothers.

In all seriousness tho, I was remembering when I was really into the stancest fandom in about 2016. I mean, I still am, but like. I was really deep into it, having the time of my life. I was even in a stancest discord for a hot minute.

Anyhow, I commissioned an artist using my blog, which happened to be pretty much stancest only. I asked for a drawing of mullet Stan boxing, and they said yes, but not to post it on my blog bc they were worried about how people in their circles would react to them having drawn something for me.

Like that's INSANE. If you're worried your friends will leave you because you took a job from someone who likes writing brothers kiss, then maybe those aren't actually friends. Like why would they care, why does it matter. IT DOESN'T. Stan and Ford aren't REAL they shouldn't leave you or write awful posts about you because of that.

So yeah just thinking about that.

Ugh I still roll my eyes hard at the antis that came for Stancest back in the Gravity Falls days. You could make so many arguments why you don't like the ship, there was so much delicious fucked up stuff in there. But no. They went off about 2 old dudes who happened to be twins, who didn't see each other for 30+ years, who people imagined fucking on a boat in the sea. OKAY I said I wanted to make this post five months ago so it's about time that I do.

And I've seen your response @fordislavski, I misinterpreted what you said a bit, and I get the feeling that you meant... A little too well...

So that's what this is about. Shitnpiss's Stancest State of the Union. I've been wandering around the Gravity Falls fandom for the past 2 and a half years, and over that time, I've seen artists, writers, other fans come and go. This is normal, of course, but there's something I've noticed over the past year or so.

More and more often I come across a new popular GF blog, enjoying their content, feeling safe, until I see something written in their bio or pinned post:

"proship dni"

and/or

"stancest dni"

Or even worse, they don't have those in their bio or pinned post, so I'm scrolling through their blog, thinking they wouldn't hate my existence over a ship... and there it is. A post saying that they hate proshippers, stancest shippers, for them to dni, whatever.

I'm concerned. This spreading of antishipping means the fandom is becoming a more hostile place for us... and that's unfortunately exactly what they want. They want stancest and us shippers gone.

Not only have I noticed this rise in antis in the fandom, but it also seems as if there's been a decline in new stancest content and shippers (compared to previously)... but is there?

Of course there is. This incredible comic by @high-sixing for @5summersofstancest Past, Present, and Future last year puts it better than I ever could. The number of stancest shippers is so much smaller than what it was 5 years ago, a bit smaller than when I started wandering around the GF fandom, but does it really matter? The increase in antis and decrease in our numbers is scary, yeah, but we're still here. We still love these hot grunkles kissing. We still want to make more art, fanfiction, headcanons, imagines, whatever, of those hot grunkles kissing. And we're still going to, even when the stancest tag goes slow and the antis get scary.

Remember, we're still here, and we don't have to go anywhere!
