Here's an Uno reverse card mental exercise for Wasps. Send yourself back to Volume 3 in the leadup to the Battle of Beacon. What would have happened after Yang accidentally broke Mercury's leg? During Blake's line, "but you're not like him", and back when she was more clear about criticizing Yang's brutality, was this any indication of her developing feelings for Yang? And after Beacon was destroyed, was there any indication that Sun intentionally was trying to stalk Blake? Say it with me now…
NO!
The answer to both of these questions is a big fat resounding 'no'. The reason Blake is less critical of Yang is because of, even if they're unintentional, they have clear and present allusions to the common argument that Bees is Tauradonna 2.0 due to how post-Beacon saga Yang is a control freak and barely interacts with her own goddamn sister. And even if Sun had intended to stalk Blake on her way to Menagerie, there was no indication he meant to follow her maliciously, even if it was setup that way since apparently a new outfit for Sun, something less flashy is too much for RT's fucken little brains to comprehend, let alone hire a new concept artist for.
And even if Yang wasn't a control freak, she still would have made a shitty girlfriend due to her own commitment problems which have been a big factor from the mission to defeat Salem.

Why is it always Bees art with Yang basically being welcomed into Blake’s family and constantly depicting Yang as essentially being another child to Ghira and Kali but never the other way around? It always feels like Bees fans wanna ignore Yang’s connection to her dad and that bothers me.
Well, tbh I feel like a lot of (not all but a lot of) bees fans do want to ignore Yang's connection to her dad. I have working theories for why.
I think it's true to say that a lot of rwby fans tend to take the stated things in RWBY to be true whether or not they're shown in the rest of the show. So they'll say 'Blake has never been intimidated by Yang' even though we've seen Blake be intimidated by Yang, they'll say 'Ironwood squeezed Mantle until it broke' even though what we actually saw was a system heavily influenced by the Schnees and Jacques himself hurting Mantle, and they'll say 'Yang raised Ruby all on her own when she was like five' even though what we actually see of Tai is a loving caring father. So a lot of the times, those people won't like Tai or think of Tai as a good or present parent, so there's no reason for them to do art or anything with Blake meeting Tai.
Another option is a bit less generous, and it's that Sun got a meet the parents trope, and there are some bees fans who cannot just let BlackSun have something without trying to either erase it ("Blake never liked him," "they didn't actually go on a date," "Blake just kissed him on the cheek as a sister-like thing!") or trying to insert Yang into it instead ("Yang should help Blake with rebuilding the White Fang," "Yang is light and Blake is darkness," "Yang and Blake practically went on a date during the Vytal dance.") So since Sun had a 'meeting Blake's family' thing, they want Yang to have one, and they don't need Blake to meet Tai.
Which is a shame, because honestly I do not like Ghira and Kali and I do like Tai, and imagining Yang bringing home this dark haired fiesty brooding girl who vaguely reminds Tai of Qrow is so funny and cute to me. And Yang being all nervous that Tai isn't going to like Blake only for Tai to coax out Blake's softer side and get her excited about her interests because he has experience with brooding types already. Like, so much cute content could be made from Blake meeting Tai, but the Ghira and Kali stuff all feels either boring or like people are only doing it as a gotcha against BlackSun.

You think that thing Barabra said she had difficult lines to say was her confession to Blake? Cause I can believe she had a hard time trying to make up something on the spot and wasn't there.
But don't lose hope. If they do greenlight, another volume, their relationship could end like Mako and Korra.
You know what, at this point I've lost hope and hope V10 gets canceled.
The latter half of V8 and all of V9 just proves RT doesn't care for this show anymore and only cares about their frat boy culture being exposed and all their VA's coming out for this harassment.
Black Sun died so CRWBY could make Bumblebullshit canon as a distraction for getting outed as a horrible company for the umpteenth time, they have no way of coming back from this, the shit they're banking on to make money will flop.
RT deserves to go bankrupt and RWBY should be canceled so they can't butcher anything any longer.

The bees
Tumblr media
Sooo yyyyyeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaahhh… the bees…
They're terrible. I'm sorry, but they are. In the show.
Angry, possessive girl with massive abandonment issues loves girl whose instinct is to run away because of trauma from her angry, possessive ex? That's not romantic, that's toxic like nerve gas. These two are the living embodiment of each other's triggers.
That said, in fanon I've seen the bees written very well! They can be a good couple, but they need to actually address and work through the ways they hurt each other, and instead of that, in the show CRWBY goes the exact opposite direction, intensifying the toxic traits and calling it sweet and romantic and lovey.
Ask me about a ship!

I love being in both the rwby and sw fandoms bc both give me the experience of finishing new content and going "hm that contained most of the elements that the extremely vocal ppl who make hating this thing their identity wanted, lets see of they feel" only to discover they found fresh new ways to come up w stupid opinions

Yknow I'd actually like to see you respond to the other points in that anti-bumblby ask because aside from the Arryn thing (which I agree, is not a great thing to just casually suggest is true), I do think they make a point here. A lot of show under different networks need to fight for explizit representation and a lot of them get censored to the point that it's only heavily implied to avoid the actual conformation because studio execs are afraid that's gonna turn people off.
Aside from the side characters (I'm including Ilia in side characters, because she hasn't been mentioned since her goodbye scene aside from a brief visual), bumblebee is not officially canon yet - with that I mean it's not unmistakable that they have romantic feelings for each other. Heavily implied, sure. But you don't have to have a love confession to have Yang confirm to Ruby that she likes Blake like that and that she's worried about if Blake reciprocates.
A lot of anti-bumblebee people I know at least are afraid to be burned again and have that representation snatched away at the last second - even She-Ra reboot had that problem, despite the creator being queer themselves. That's how often things are just hinted at and never resolved.
Here’s the thing with getting into it with the anti-Bee crowd: it’s very hard to assume that someone is coming from a good place when they start attacking Bumbleby in any way. A very vocal portion of the so-called FNDM are extremely homophobic and have been attacking Bee fans for years, often under the guise of pretending to be concerned about us being queerbaited.
That being said, I’ll humor you this time.
One, I wouldn't dismiss a show having queer side characters so easily, the fact that RWBY has a wide range of queer background characters is groundbreaking in its own way, because it means that they’re actually showing rather than just telling us that kind of diversity is normal in the world.
And Bumbleby’s feelings for each other have been verbalized in the show... by Nora... who has been the character to verbalize every other main romance in the show (she called Pyrrha’s feelings for Jaune and was understandably involved in talking about her and Ren’s relationship) generally shortly before they get together.
The only thing I can think to say in terms of queerbait is that after Volume 6, Arryn Zeck (Blake’s VA), who is as mentioned previously is bisexual herself, confronted the writers to make sure they were going to follow through and that she wasn’t leading fans on by being supportive of the ship. And while we don’t know exactly how they responded, she did tell us about it and has continued to actively support the ship, which is a good indicator of how the meeting went.
But tbh, when it comes to people who are genuinely worried about queerbait there’s not a ton that I could say that would actually make those worries go away. We unfortunately live in a society where a ship isn’t considered “real” or “canon” until they kiss, which means that until they do kiss, most of these people aren’t going to believe they’ll get together if they don’t already. Regardless of what some random person on Tumblr says.

I think there's something we've been sleeping on when it comes to 🐝Bumbleby🐝.
Atropa Belladonna, more commonly known as "Deadly Nightshade" or "Belladonna", is a poisonous plant that bears purple flowers and black-purple berries.

(I own none of these photos, nor did I take them myself. I am merely emphasizing a point. All three of these were found and taken from Google search results.)
And often, the flower's large, center structure is yellow.

Do not let CRWBY deter you.
The current FNDM situation involving Volume 9 Episode 6 needs no introduction, by now, y'all know what happened and how pissed most everyone is in the following episode at recent character actions. Who can blame them?
But after scouring some RWBY-related forums and channels, I have to say that I'm almost not surprised by how disheartened everyone is rather than enraged. Well, there are folks who are angry, but what really shocks me is how everyone is more sad and disappointed rather than pissed off.
Anyway, with my point being made, let's cut straight into it: Don't let RWBY's latest controversy deter you from criticizing this show. And to any fanfic writers, fan-artists or general content creators who still write RWBY fanfiction, don't let the events of this episode or CRWBY's "planned from the start" mantra make you feel bad.
That's exactly what they want to make themselves feel like they're being smart about this to flex on us, the beleaguered critics of this show.
Perhaps then, this isn't the right sub for this kind of rallying cry. But rather, the kind of post to motivate creators of fan content who have been burned out, and it seems like the Wasps and other toxic elements of the FNDM have won.
We should not let CRWBY win either. They got the last laugh in deciding the events to canonize a controversial ship, but we should resist their efforts to dominate the FNDM discussion as we have more power than them, we can still write our own fanfics, our own alternate universes, rewrites, whatever else.
Do not let CRWBY's idiocy deter you. They started this shipping war, and the only way to resist that is to let them know that you will ship whoever you please, however if fits within YOUR narrative. Not Rooster Teeth's. If you give in, then Miles, Kerry, Eddy and Kiersi wins.
Arryn Zech wins.
Barbara Dunkelman wins.
Where they've successfully demoralized you. You have more creativity than those braying jackasses ever will. Continue writing fanfiction. Continue drawing art. Do not let CRWBY deter you.

Not related to any recent drama, but every time I see someone be like "You guys are just mad that your ship isn't canon" in relation to criticism of Blake and Yang, I think
Tumblr media
I'm not lying when I say that like ninety percent of the time my favorite ships aren't canon. You guys think that I have the energy to hate ships just because they're canon? I ship way too many non-canon ships to get angry about the lack of canon status for every single one of them, and since I almost never like the canon ships that much I'm not going to exert my energy to hate them just because they are canon.
Like bitch I can't even make my favorite ships canon in Fire Emblem Three Houses when there's a 'set people up' game mechanic. You think I ever expected to like the canon ships? I probably couldn't even count ten canon ships that I like in any media off the top of my head.
I promise you that my dislike of Blake and Yang as a ship is not because it's canon and Sun and Blake isn't. I do not have that kind of energy and if I was gonna be mad about anything, it's way more likely to be that my ships aren't canon in Descendants or something, not RWBY. It would actually be stunning for me to consume a piece of media and ship all the canon ships.
Every time I hate a ship, I have plenty of reasons and 'canon' is not one of them.

is there anything in rwby that you really want to or wish you could like but can’t because it waa ruined for you by the fandom’s over-obsession with it or because the writing was so bad that you can’t look at it the same way any more?
bumblby. i genuinely wish i could love it as much as some fans seem to but dear god, the pinkwashing & queer exploitation from the outwardly queerphobic writing team behind it & the behaviour from the fans which is often aggressively biphobic & racist just absolutely turned me off the ship.
i feel the same way about white rose & schneewood forest, which is just like. funny how all the shippers of these ships have so much insecurity that they end up turning people away. interesting.

If Blake was not teased with other potential love interest in the show do you think Bumbleby would be better received ?
Absolutely not because Monty EXPLICITLY said on record that Team RWBY is a sisterhood, but RT threw that shit out the window the second Sun was out of the picture and then they swooped in to force the hamfisted interactions and that god awful fucking forced confession.
In no way or any fucking universe would BB work, not even on paper. RWBY is a sisterhood and will stay a sisterhood.
