Juno, Groom, Briede by Signs, Houses, Degrees
Tumblr media
Juno (3) is an asteroid discovered in 1804 by Karl Ludwig Harding. It represents another part of the person we will marry as it represents destined partner, our soulmate, "the one" for us. Briede (19029) & Groom (5129) asteroids are more about just the FS. But Juno has a more destiny message, more of a spiritual link. To see more about this person, looking at our Juno Persona Chart is recommended! You can also check Briede or Groom Persona Charts. Checking the signs, houses and degrees are important as it represents all the details about one's future spouse.

Warhammer Gaslamp: Introduction
Tumblr media
The year is 2725 IC...some two hundred years since the Age of Crisis. The time of Karl Franz I, the "Fourth Deliverer of the Empire," has long past, as has the age of knights and dragons – throughout the Old World, magic itself is a dying art.
The Empire of Man is stronger than ever before, but it is an Empire that runs on coal and iron, held together with roads of steel track, and powered by boiling, thumping hearts that pump steam and gas through the veins of the mightiest industrial power in the world. The forests remain, but they have dwindled in size, cut down to feed the endless hunger of the great metropolises, the mighty smokestacks of Nuln, Talabheim, New Averheim, and greatest of all, the bright gaslights of mighty Altdorf ("The Big Turnip"), and a hundred smaller cities that light the night skies.
The Neüscience of the Imperial Technomancers has increased national prosperity a hundredfold, improved the health and well-being of the common citizens, and helped the Imperial Army, Navy, and Airkorps put the endless hordes of Khaos on the backfoot for generations. In spite of (or because of?) this, Imperial society has become increasingly divided between the elite who profit from the new economy of high finance and heavy industry, and those millions of unskilled and semi-skilled laborers whose endless toil keeps them only ever one step ahead of the breadline and the bailiff. Meanwhile, the mounting toll of industrial pollution, epidemic disease, industrial accidents, and Neüscientific “experiments” running amok raises new questions about the high cost of success.
Politics has become ever more fractious. The Imperial Parliament is divided between the House of the People, where the Farmer-Artisan Party (representing a coalition of the Craft Guilds and their fellow urban workers, and a significant minority of rural laborers and small farmers) holds the plurality, and the House of the Nobles, where the Liberal-Conservative Party (representing both the traditional landed aristocracy and the new monied elite) holds power, and the two clash fiercely over labor rights, taxation, industrial regulation, and social welfare. Holding the uneasy balance of power is Emperor Karl-Franz XIV, his "Iron" Chancellor Ludwig von Ostermark, and their smaller Patriotic Party (largely supported by veterans and members of the civil service), who try to maintain Imperial unity and industrial production in the face of the "Threat from the Black North."
In the streets and on the shop-floors, the captains of industry known as the Great Monopolhauses (allied and often intermarried with the nobility) deploy their legions of spies and private soldiers against the rising strength of the Laborer’s Guild, who are mobilizing in the factories by the hundreds of thousands, and the industrial spies and gunthugs are kept in check only by the still-potent might of the Craft Guilds who fear and resent their industrial upstart rivals but trust the bosses even less.
The religion that once united an Empire today divides it, as Orthodox Volkmarites and Radical Hussites split over matters of class and faith. Although the two factions are still nominally part of the same Sigmarite religion, and the Church of Sigmar is held together by the firm hand of the Emperor, the two factions compete fiercely over theology and dogma, and positions within the Church unto the Grand Theogonacy itself. To the north, the philosophy professor-turned-street preacher Nietzsche von Zarathustein has single-handedly revived the fortunes of the Cult of Ulric with his fiery doctrine of Neo-Ulricism and his best-seller Man unt Wulf-Man. From the great industrial heartland of the south, the radical scholar Mark Karhl preaches the overthrow of the status quo as an inherently exploitative regime, and his pamphlet The Scarlet Platform and his massive three-volume treatise on political economy, Der Gelden (which almost no one has completed), inspire many young radical students and workers to join the revolutionary Scarlet Party and the ranks of the Laborer’s Guild. Are rumors of his secret allegiance to a Tzeenchite secret society true, or mere bourgeois propaganda?
Exacerbating these divisions is the constant threat from Khaos. Up in the "Black North" and their allied territories on the great steppes on the other side of the pole, the forces of evil pervert the laws of science to their mad push for world domination. Khornate breeder-lords select from an unceasing flow of gladiators to produce the perfect warriors; Nurglite bio-priests carefully engineer the next insidious plague to slip past the Imperial Plasmic Survey; Slaaneshi sin-merchants mobilize a world-wide network of Cathayan black tar and warpdust powder (bartered from the Skaven) to corrupt the Empire from within; and Tzeenchite techno-mancers design ever more fiendish mutated F.R.E.A.K.S and the twisted Biomechs.
Inside the Empire, things are scarcely better. Even with the darkness of the forests pushed back to the periphery and the Greenskin hordes banished to the far side of the World's Edge Mountains, the threat of Were-beastmanism and other, more insidious, forces winds its way into every neighborhood in the Empire despite the best efforts of the Imperial Plasmic Survey and the Schwarzmänner. Mutants who cannot conceal their true nature – known as the "Untervolk" - have decamped into the subway tunnels and sewers that form the Undercities of the Empire, waging an unceasing war for survival against “norms” and “ratfolk” alike. From the back alleyways and the salons of the nobility alike, the endless secret societies of Khaos vie to do their masters' bidding, undermining the Empire from within in preparation for the coming war.
It is a time that desperately needs heroes, men and women willing to brave the darkness on the mean streets and the shell-torn battlefields of the Old World alike. Mystery and intrigue, adventure and mad science await!

Karl Wolff
Tumblr media
These are some facts and curiosities about Karl Wolff, a general of the Waffen-SS:
He was born on May 13, 1900.
Karl Wolff grew up in a prominent Darmstadt family. For two years he lived in Schwerte. Already in his early youth he wanted to become a soldier and an officer.
He completed his youth studies at the Ludwig-Georgs-Gymnasium in Darmstadt and had a two-year preliminary training as a volunteer for the Nationale Jugendwehr (National Youth Army).
He joined the German army during the First World War at the age of seventeen, reaching the rank of captain.
He was demobilized in 1920 following the Treaty of Versailles.
He became a banker, joining the Bethmann family bank in Frankfurt, where he underwent a two-year apprenticeship.
In July 1922 Wollf was engaged to Frieda von Roemheld, whom he married the following year.
Drawn by the ideal of a reborn Germany after this economic crisis, Wolff joined the NSDAP in July 1931. His membership number was 695,131. His SS membership number was 14,235.
In 1933, after the Nazi Party came to power, Wolff became a full-time political party member and was promoted to SS-Captain to serve as SS military liaison officer to the German Army.
By 1937 he was an SS-Gruppenführer and considered third in command of the entire SS (after Himmler and Heydrich).
He was a rival to Heydrich. This competition was accentuated by Himmler. However, at this point his friendship with the chief of the RSHA Heydrich was at its height, with whom he helped certain parties in conflict with Nazi party doctrine, including some Jews, to leave Germany.
As was later revealed in the 1964 trial, during the early part of World War II Wolff was probably "Himmler's eyes and ears" in Hitler's headquarters.
After the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich, Wolff fell out of favor with Himmler.
When Italy surrendered to the Allies, from February to October 1943 Wolff became the Higher SS and Police Leader of Italy, and served as the Military Governor of northern Italy.
In April 1945 Wolff, without Hitler's knowledge, negotiated the surrender with the Allies of all German forces operating in Italy (Operation Sunrise).
As soon as he was released from prison in 1949 by the allies he was brought before a German court and sentenced to four years in prison, but in reality he only spent one week there, thanks to the support of the leaders of the US OSS
In 1962 he was tried again for having taken part in the deportation of 300,000 Jews to the Treblinka camp, and sentenced to fifteen years in prison; he was released after six years for health reasons.
He died in 1984.

Archduke Franz Josef goes to Bavaria
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was some days ago years old when I discovered that Franz Josef I's childhood diary is available in the Projekt Gutenberg. I'd been busy lately studying for upcoming exams and dreading for the future of my country, so I haven't had the time to look much into it, but for the little I've read it isn't that interesting - just short entries summarizing what he did on the day, with little to no personal thoughts. But even so I came across some entries that I thought might be of interest for you so I quickly put this post together, since I feel bad having this blog a bit abandoned as of lately.
At the beginning of September of 1843 the thirteen-years-old Archduke Franz Josef went with his mother to visit their Bavarian family in Munich. While "Franzi" (frustratingly to us) dedicates more words to describe what kind of animals he hunt that day than to his relatives, this somewhat dull entries still contain a very interesting piece of information: the earliest recorded meeting between him and his future wife, Duchess Elisabeth in Bavaria. So without further delay, here are the entries from September 2 and 3, which correspond to the first two days of the Archduke's visit to Munich (as always mandatory disclaimer that these are machine translations and therefore there may be/are some mistakes):
2. From Wasserburg we travelled to Munich, the beautiful dear Munich, where we saw the magnificent Festbau, the Basilica, the Ludwigskirche, the staircase of the library, the huge Bavaria by Stiegelmayer and the All Saints' Chapel.
We dined at Palais Leuchtenberg at half past four. Sad memories when we saw the lords, ladies and servants of poor Grandmama [Queen Caroline of Bavaria, who passed away in 1841]. I met the Crown Prince [Oscar] and Crown Princess [Josephine] of Sweden there.
We left Munich at 7 o'clock and arrived at Possenhofen at quarter past ten. We found there the Duke Max and all his children except Louis [Duke Ludwig Wilhelm], who is in Switzerland.
3 Sunday. We breakfasted with Aunt Louise [Duchess Ludovika], Helene, Elise [Elisabeth] and the very nice but almost spoilt Karl [Theodor]. At 10 o'clock we went into the dull chapel to hear mass, where I felt so sick that I had to be carried out of the chapel to an open window, where I got well again; then I lay down on the bed. At 12 o'clock I and Count Bombelles fished with Duke Max, where we caught 20 birch and white fish. I dined at my place with Count Bombelles and, because of my earlier habits, I only ate a plate of bouillons and an artichoke. In the afternoon we all went, even little Karl, to the king's castle on the opposite shore of the lake, where we had a snack. When we got home, I went straight to my room where I ate soup and then went to bed.
The Palais Leuchtenberg was the residence of Franz Josef's aunt Princess Auguste of Bavaria, the widow of Eugène de Beauharnais. Crown Princess Josephine was Auguste's and Eugène's eldest child, and therefore the future emperor's first cousin. I found this mention interesting because, even though they were closely related, the meetings between Franz Josef and the Bernadottes seem to have been rare, and I don't even know if he ever saw Josephine again when they were monarchs.
Meanwhile, Possenhofen was the summer residence of Duke Max in Bavaria's family (the Duke also had his own bachelor residence in which he spent most of his time, away from his family). Curiously FJ doesn't call him "uncle", though I don't know if this was for a particular reason or if he just didn't refer to the husbands of his aunts as uncles in general. At the time of this visit "Aunt Louise" was heavily pregnant with her seventh child, Mathilde, who would be born the 30th of that same month. His cousins Helene, Elisabeth (still called "Elise" by her relatives, the nickname "Sisi" would only appear in 1853) and Karl (whom apparently hadn't earned his nickname "Gackl" yet) were nine, five and four-years-old respectively. I have no idea why the twelve-years-old Louis, the eldest son the Ducal couple that FJ notes was missing, was in Switzerland. As for the youngest child of the couple - the still not two-years-old Marie - I suppose she was in the nursery, busy being a toddler, and that's why her cousin didn't saw her. Also it seems that passing out during Mass was really just A Thing That Happened, the place being so crowded and the incense being so strong, which may explain why Franz Josef is so casual about it in his writing.
Franz Josef and his mother stayed in Munich until September 6, so this was really a brief visit. The rest of the entries are just as exciting as the first two (ha!): visits to Possenhofen, the Palais Leuchtenberg and the Palais Max (the Ducal family's main residence in Munich), tea with Aunt Louise, family dinners, fishing and hunting (FJ feels the need to tells us exactly how many and what kind of birds did he shot, because obviously he knew the future historian would be dying to know that and not what he thought of his Bavarian relatives). There are two more things, however, that I would like to highlight from his entries. First, that despite having a reputation as a man uninterested in art, FJ deemed important to mention the many paintings and sculptures he saw in Munich; and second, this surprisingly poetic description of the lake Starnberg:
The wind whistled coldly across the lake, and the boat danced on the rolling waves of foam; it was a very beautiful sight; I thought I was on the sea, for towards the end of the lake the mountains were covered with clouds, and on this side one saw nothing but water, sky and a church tower illuminated by the sun.
And I have to give it to him, if he wanted, he could write more than short and dry descriptions.

Chapters 1-4 of Psychosis, Trauma, and Dissociation: Historical conceptions of psychotic disorders and schizophrenia
The term 'psychosis' was first used as an alternative to terms like 'insanity' and 'lunacy.' It was coined by the Austrian physician Ernst von Feuchtersleben, taken from the Greek word 'psyche' (meaning mind or soul) and the Latin suffix '-osis' (meaning an abnormal condition). It referred to a sickness where both the body and the soul were sick, or a disease that affected 'the whole person.' The coining of this term was in response to a German psychiatry debate between mental disease located in the 'soul' and disease located in the 'body' - /Psychiker/ and /Somatiker./ Modernly, 'psychosis' is used to mean 'having psychotic symptoms.' However, psychosis is often used related to incomprehensibility. It's not new - Jaspers argued more than a century ago that 'genuine psychotic delusions' are 'not understandable.' Often, terms like "quasi-psychotic" and "psychotic-like" are used when the behavior can be made sense of in some way. The book then argues that a useful conception of the word psychosis would be one where it means that a) an alteration in the 'hierarchy of reality' has occured, and b) the person as a whole has been changed in a fundamental way.
Thomas Sydenham (1624-1689) used the term 'hysteria' to denote any mental disorder short of 'frank alienation' (outright psychosis), while Thomas Willis (1621-1675) outlined a picture in 1672 of a condition what two centuries later would be called 'dementia praecox' by Emil Kraepelin. In 1808, the term 'psychiatry' was first used by Johann Reil to refer to the treatment of the mind. Now, larger scale scientific observations could be brought to what used to be isolated accounts of individual observers. John Haslam (1766-1844) provided cases that would be consistent with what would later be called 'schizophrenia', and his 1810 book /Illustrations of madness/ detailed a single case of insanity. It was of a paranoid psychotic man, James Tilly Matthews, who believed an 'infernal machine' was controlling his life and torturing him. Haslam also recognized that in some people there were states of excitement and depression that alternated - an early recognition of bipolar disorder. In the mid-nineteenth century, the term 'psychosis' was first proposed by Ernst von Feuchtersleben to replace 'insanity' or 'lunacy.' Ironically though, he considered 'hysteria' to be a neurosis (a term proposed for any disease caused by the functioning of the nerves), and as such it was more 'biological' than psychosis… Less than a generation later, Wilhelm Griesinger helped the somaticists win the soul versus soma dispute and 'psychosis' became a term for 'organically based mental disorders.' Under Griesinger's influence, psychosis came to mean organic (caused by organic processes) and neurosis came to mean non-organic (by-products of psychological development.) Karl Ludwig Kahlbaum (1828 - 1899) labelled the disorders hebephrenia (with his student Ewald Hecker), to mean a psychosis of young adoloscents characterized by mental disorientation, and catatonia, a condition where the patient had no reactivity, was mute, and physically immobile. Emil Kraepelin (1856 - 1926), while he wrote about every major psychiatric disorder, psychosis was a major interest of his. He built upon the ideas of Griesinger and Kahlbaum, observing many patients and outlined a classification of psychosis that is still very evident in the DSM-5. Kraeplin grouped together disorders that had a poor outcome - 'catatonia', 'hebephrenia', and 'dementia paranoides.' On the sixth edition of his textbook, he outlined 'manic depressive psychosis' (bipolar disorder) and 'dementia praecox' (schizophrenic disorders.' Kraeplin claimed that on top of progressive and inevitable decline, essential features were a discrepany between thought and emotion, negativism, stereotypical behaviors, hallucinations, delusions, and disordered thought. His focus on 'inherent bodily defects' in psychiatric disorders and rapid decline led to a pessimisstic outlook on the treatment of dementia praecox. Kraepelin also described 'paranoia,' a chronic illness characterized by delusional beliefs, in the absence of personality changes. He believed paranoia was less severe and associated with partial recovery. The first use of the term 'schizophrenia' was by Eugen Bleuler (1908/1987). Over 10 years, Bleuler developed his ideas on schizophrenia in close cooperation with Carl Jung. Bleuler criticized Kraepelin's idea of dementia praecox, by saying that not all cases began early (praecox) and not all cases ended in full mental deterioration (dementia.) He proposed the term 'schizophrenia' in a Berlin psychiatry conference. The word literally means 'split mind' as he thought that /tearing apart/ ('Zerreissung') and /splitting/ ('Spaltung') were central to the disorder.
Schneider's first-rank symptoms of schizophrenia had a powerful influence on the diagnostic criteria for schizophrenia, from the 1970s onwards. They were considered sufficient but not necessary for a diagnosis of schizophrenia to be made. They were (In German, followed by their english translations): Gedankenlautwerden (audible thoughts), Stimmen in Form von Rede und Gegenrede (voices conversing or arguing), Begleitung des Tuns mit halluzinierten Bemerkungen (voices commenting on one’s behaviour), körperliche Beeinflussung (somatic influences), Gedankenentzug, Gedankeneingebung und ‐beeinflussung(thought insertion, thought withdrawal and thought influences/‘made’ thoughts), echter Wahn als Beziehungssetzung ohne Anlaß (delusional perception).

Thanks for answering. Just doing some quick looking into it myself beyond what you mentioned in your answer. In the French Wikipedia article it mentions that Napoleon Bonaparte learned of her existence in 1802 when he overheard a conversion about her and then brought her to Paris and there was some jealously from the Empress and her daughter since the Emperor became very fond of her (although jealousy among the Emperor's relations both blood and in-laws seems pretty par for the course).
Also Eugène de Beauharnais's eldest daughter marries Crown Prince of Sweden (only son of former French Marshal Bernadotte and Napoleon Bonaparte's dejected fiancée Désirée Clary) while her own eldest daughter marries deposed Swedish Crown Prince in exile in Vienna.
Also Queen Sophie of the Netherlands mentioning her death in her correspondence google<dot>com/books/edition/A_Stranger_in_The_Hague/rp29cF15SpAC?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=Duchess%20Hamilton%20inauthor%3AQueen%20Sophie%20(consort%20of%20William%20III%2C%20King%20of%20the%20Netherlands)&pg=PA206&printsec=frontcover
First of all: thank you so much! I feel like poor Stéphanie really is overlooked, because she did not stay at Napoleon's court for long. Basically, she gets noticed by the First Consul (or possibly rather by Josephine), sent to Madame Campan's bording school (because where else) and only truly shows up at court in 1805/6, in order to be married off to poor Karl von Baden, who had just lost his former fiancée Auguste von Bayern to a certain Eugène de Beauharnais (Stéphanie's cousin).
Which is a story in itself, of course.
Tumblr media
I am not sure the cousins were particularly close. In a letter to Eugène Josephine refers to Stéphanie as "la petite Beauharnais", the little Beauharnais, which seems a bit odd given the close family relations. But it also could just be a nickname and need not mean much.
Tumblr media
The marriage to Karl von Baden - as the story goes - started out exceptionally bad. By most accounts, Karl was not a friendly character in the first place, and he was still hurt about having been denied a good marriage (to a princess from an old regime princely family) and now being ... strongly invited to conduct a - in his eyes - bad one with some lower nobility girl who had merely been adopted by the French emperor. (According to Bavarian crown prince Ludwig, Karl shortly before his marriage accused Ludwig of not having done enough to strengthen his sister's resolve and to avoid Auguste's marriage to Eugène de Beauharnais.)
Stéphanie, as to her, was not yet 17 years old and obviously not enchanted to get married to this strange German. When Karl showed up in Paris for the wedding, he still wore his hair braided in the Prussian fashion, much to the horror of his Parisian teen bride, who declared this hairstyle, and with it the bridegroom as a whole, inacceptable. When Karl went to see a barber and returned fashionably coiffed à la Titus - Stéphanie started crying and declared he was even uglier now.
As I said, not a good start. And it did not get much better because - as the story goes - during her wedding night Stéphanie locked herself up in the bedroom with some friends from bording school, while Karl was left outside, passing the night on a chair in front of the bedroom door... allegedly.
While much of this may be exaggeration and court gossip, there's little doubt that the marriage was not a happy one. During the Prussian campaign in 1806 Napoleon even felt the need to write to the marshal in whose corps Karl von Baden was to serve, in order to make sure that Karl would not get mocked openly by the soldiers. And I remember one letter to Berthier in which Napoleon wrote something to the effect of "Okay, if he absolutely wants to come, let him join the army. But I really wish he'd go home and make a baby with his wife!"
Poor Stéphanie must have felt quite alone in that rather strange Baden family she had married into. The person actually calling the shots in Karlsruhe was Amalie von Baden, Karl's mother (and also the mother of Queen Friederike of Sweden, Queen Karoline of Bavaria and the Tsarina Elisabeth of Russia). Karl's grandfather, Grand Duke Karl sen., was old and increasingly senile, but he had a young second wife in what was called a "left-hand marriage", and this lady was in a permanent feud with Amalie. Lastly, the old grand duke also had another son, a known intriguer and womanizer.
Happy family times. Especially as all these illustrious personalities immediately united in their dislike of that second class French princess they had been forced to accept into their family.
And it seems Stéphanie, after trying to adapt to her new circumstances, rebelled quite a bit. Enough to earn her some stern rebukes from her imperial adoptive father.
It took until 1809 for the situation to truly change, until Josephine had to leave court and the Beauharnais and their foreign relations thus lost their closest link to the French court. Napoleon's marriage to an Austrian may have been felt as a threat by all of the smaller Rhinebund states, who had received French support mostly in order to serve as a buffer against Austria, and who now suddenly found themselves sandwiched between two - always hungry - super powers. Their princely families immediately closed ranks, and this included Stéphanie.
Or maybe Karl had really started to grow fond of his wife. Their first daughter was born in 1811. And after Napoleon's fall, Karl refused to try and get a divorce. (It did not keep him from heaving wild orgies during his stay at the Vienna Congress though.)
Stéphanie did end her life in Baden, where she was very well-liked by the population.

Today we're taking a look at the costume of an OLD period film, where my interest collide: 1920s and the 18th century.
Der Rosenkavalier (1926) is based on the opera of the same name by Richard Strauss, and the music from that is what accompanies this not so silent film. Since the libretto is changed a lot from the one of the opera, the movie also includes music from Strauss' Couperin suite. It was premiered in 10th January of 1926 at the Dresden Semperoper, and Strauss himself conducted the orchestra! Isn't that super cool? You can watch it on YouTube!
The costume design for this film was by Alfred Roller, Hans Rouc, and Stefan Wessely (the three of them usually worked in Art Direction), and Ludwig Rudlof was the wig maker.
I had never thought about this film until I was reading a magazine (a new one, from 1923 LOL), and there was a little column about Jaque Catelain (who plays Octavian in this film) and it had a photo from this film. And OF COURSE that sent me to a rabbit hole. I mean, look at him (and Elly Felicie Berger):
Tumblr media
And, now something @vinceaddams always tell us all to look at: LOOK AT THE COAT SHOULDERS!!!!!! That's so good! AND FROM 1926.
Now, I love LOVE LOVE the costumes of this film. Let's take a look!
First of all, we have not one, but TWO robes de cour with the right kind of lace sleeves! One has a more historically accurate neckline, and the general silhouette of the torso. It was worn by Huguette Duflos as the Countess Maria Theresia von Werdenberg (the Marschallin):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the other has a more square neckline (like in a middle way between a court mantua and a robe de cour), and the torso is less accurate (she doesn't seem to be wearing the right stays, nor the dress having the proper boning), but the petticoat is SPECTACULAR (worn by Elly Felicie Berger, as Sophie):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The women have both other dresses:
A robe à la française in stripes for Sophie:
Tumblr media
This very flammable looking for the Marschallin:
Tumblr media
And this one is also a robe de cour (kind of?), but with a petticoat and overskirt that feels more like a robe à la française. I mean, it clearly closes on the back, so I like to think of this dress as a robe de cour.
Tumblr media
We also see Carmen Cartellieri wearing... this... dress and a coat/robe over it. This might be the dress that looks more like a halloween costume of the whole film, but honestly, I've seen way worse lately...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, let's just enjoy all of the menswear. They have some funny and odd cuff choices, but the general look is WAY better than many MANY modern 18th century set films and series. But the coats, the wigs, the cravats... it is all so pretty!
Here some early 18th century wigs:
Tumblr media
LOOK AT THE VOLUME OF THIS FROCK COAT!!! Also, I LOVE that they kept the dark coloured hair of Jaque Catelain as Octavian in some parts:
Tumblr media
And in other parts where he's supposed to be dressed nicer, he wears a white wig. This is also my favourite suit of the film, that looks taken straight from a Barbier illustration:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now let's look at Paul Hartman as the Marschall. The silhouette that he wears is slimmer and fitted closer to the body than the other characters, being it from later in the century.
He wears a court outfit, that has too short breeches and too straight front:
Tumblr media
His other main look is this suit with decorative lines, that along the riding boots, gives him the appearance of strict military dude. The front is nicely curved, and even the shoulders have a structured feel that matches the character. That's good costume design, my friends.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Over this outfit, he wears a carrick (or garrick) coat and a tricorn hat:
Tumblr media
We also have Michael Bohen (as Ochs von Lerchenau) and Karl Forest (as Herr von Faninal). Their looks are kind of mid 18th century (?) and earlier 18th century kind of mixed together. They have different lengths of waistcoats and one of their coats (the one on Karl Forest) looks earlier to me. But in this comedy of errors, both of them are supposed to be kind of silly, so I accept that they look kind of odd. Still, better than many series I've seen lately.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, to finish this post, here are some images from the film that I didn't use complete before, but you might want to see. Enjoy:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, what is your favourite outfit from this film?

Austin's problem is he picked people who's fanbases overlap massively, which is an issue with pulling in mcyters. Obviously not all of them are like tina, but r.nboos fans are all from his mcyt days.
If austin was able to get different ccs from across content spheres, he'd get more numbers. Plus the vibe might be better overall. A lot of other ccs have stage things like nyp before, whereas mcyters havent because of covid and the fact they're claim to fame is playing on smps.
Its shitty overall for austin but given misfits helped fund and karl probably pulled his contact list, it's not surprising
yeah I said this a couple days ago. I think that for a long time austin saw mcytbers as this untapped well of clout... which was true in the pandemic and in a lot of ways is still true BUT that works much better for loh where you have one mcytber on and everyone in the fanbase goes and watches them. in almost every nyp in person so far there has been a mix of communities which brings in big numbers. I think this being the misfits show was part of that. usually he'd have hasan or ludwig or some other variety streamer to balance it out.

I saw a post about it earlier, but I can't find it now nor any info on it and was wondering if you knew: Did Karl drop out of a panel Dream was supposed to be doing?

And also if you type dream in Karl's chat your message won't go through. Things are seemingly changing.
Have y'all seen the clip from the yard (Ludwig and friends podcast) where Karl talks about how public beef is cringe and embarrassing and how a content creator should never publicly air shit btw

word of the week: Pareidolia
Pareidolia is a psychological phenomenon in which the mind perceives a specific image or pattern where it does not actually exist, such as seeing a face in the clouds.
Okay so everyone buckle up – I’m only going to use a few picture in this one because it can make some people uncomfortable (me. I’m people.) but if you know this is going to make you uncomfortable, give it a skip.
Tumblr media
Origins: the word derives from the Greek words pará (παρά, "beside, alongside, instead [of]") and eídōlon (εἴδωλον, "image, form, shape").
It came into a more modern usage in the 1860s when German psychiatrist Karl Ludwig Kahlbaum used the term Pareidolie  in his work. When his 1866 paper "Die Sinnesdelierien” ("On Delusion of the Senses") was reviewed in 1867 in The Journal of Mental Science, Volume 13, Pareidolie was translated into English as "pareidolia", and noted to be synonymous with the terms "...changing hallucination, partial hallucination, [and] perception of secondary images.
Primarily, this is why people see faces in inanimate objects, like the shocked face in a grounded electrical outlet, or Jesus in a taco.
Tumblr media
Rhesus monkeys also experience face pareidolia, which may be a result of pareidolia aiding in primate social interaction (the “oh hey, a face – is friendly?”) – but scientists don’t have a solid answer as to why the human brain does this.
but the next time you look at a cloud and see Elvis, never fear - that's just the way our brains work.
until next week,

Jungkook's Juno in his Natal Chart
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Juno (3) is an asteroid discovered in 1804 by Karl Ludwig Harding. It represents another part of the person we will marry as it represents destined partner, our soulmate, "the one" for us. Briede & Groom asteroids are more about just the FS. But Juno has a more destiny message, more of a spiritual link. To see moe about this person, looking at our Juno Persona Chart is recommended!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Juno Leo
-> This man will marry someone with Leo placements. In the big 3 or at least in the big 6. Juno Leo means that he will marry someone who will be famous at some point. He will look at her, and she will just be the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. She will be the sun to him, he will not be able to look at anything else. He will just radiate around her. He will be obsessed with her, but he will need her to be obsessed with him at some point. She is warm, have a beautiful laugh and smile, hair are very good looking, more on the wavy, curly hair. Thick hair. It can make the FS also bright and very charismatic. She can be popular. And people just love her. She might feel like the main character most of the times. She can be lucky in any occasions. It means love at first sight too, for both of them. Like in the movies type of love! This placement makes him want to be chased, to feel like his FS will literally fall on her knees when she sees him, yet it will be his reaction lmao. An intense connection when they meet, he will just know she is the one. He will absolutely adore her, and she will too. He will see her as perfect, and she will keep thinking "how come he chose me?? am I that lucky??". Just a couple who will be obsessed with each other and be their biggest fan lmao. A power couple. Basically: Jk will marry someone who will give him the love he always desired to give, meaning a huge love. He will commit himself 3000% as she will, and they will love that. It will literally make him feel so in love, he will feel like he is back alive.
Juno 8H
-> She will bring a lot of change in his life, literally nothing will be the same after her. JK's rebirth. He will meet her at a moment something important in his life is ending, and a new era is starting. It can also be at a moment he is going though a major changement, that he likes it or not. Instant attractiveness, a lot of passion towards each other, and could even be instant s3xual attraction, JK will think she is the hottest girl he has ever seen, very sexy. She could appear cold like, someone who looks very distant, etc. Could wear a lot of dark and black. Looks intimidating. But someone who warms up when you talk to her. Meeting her at night, or somewhere hidden, somewhere where nobody else see. Emotional bond, spiritual bond.
Juno 21°
-> Love at first sight, loving them from the first time he laid eyes on her. Absolutely loving her vibe since the first moment. He will think she is very funny and very smart. So someone smart, funny, open-minded. Another sign she could be a foreigner. He will think she is very unique and outstanding. She is literally very different, and doesn't even try. Someone he can and will admire, he will feel like she can teach him a lot of things.

OTD in Music History: Pianist, composer, and pedagogue Anton Rubinstein (1829 - 1894) gives his final public concert in St. Petersburg in 1894. With his health failing, Rubinstein moved back to Peterhof shortly thereafter, where he passed away from heart failure at the end of the year.
Rubinstein was undoubtedly one of the most historically consequential Russian musicians in history.
The founder of the famed St. Petersburg Conservatory, Rubinstein was also one of the most celebrated virtuoso pianists of the 19th Century. He was the primary piano teacher of fellow legendary concert pianist Josef Hofmann (1876 - 1957), as well as the primary composition teacher of Pyotr Tchaikovsky (1840 - 1893).
Although he best remembered today for his importance as a pianist and a pedagogue, Rubinstein was also a prolific composer in his own right: He wrote more than 20 operas, the best known being "The Demon" (which continues to hold the stage in Russia). Rubinstein also composed six symphonies, five piano concertos, and a slew of solo piano works and chamber music... although aside from "The Demon," almost none of his music is still heard today...
PICTURED: A c. 1880s photograph that shows the middle-aged Rubinstein coming as close as he ever came to smiling for the camera.
Also shown is an original c. 1850s "carte de visite" photograph showing the young Rubinstein (who always liked to highlight his pronounced facial similarity to Ludwig van Beethoven [1770 - 1827]), as well as an autograph letter that Rubinstein wrote to a colleague in 1859.
In this letter, Rubinstein mentions a performance of Carl Maria von Weber’s (1786 - 1826) opera “Der Freischutz” (1821), and repeatedly references Karl Klindworth (1830 - 1916) -- a piano student of Franz Liszt (1811 – 1886) who went on to have an important career teaching at the Moscow Conservatory and later served as the principal conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic. Klindworth was on such friendly terms with Richard Wagner (1813 – 1883) that he was actually tasked with preparing the piano-vocal scores for several of Wagner's mature operas.

Made A New AU Where Henry Has Royal Blood In Him!!!!1!1!1!1!1

Since the AU where Henry belongs to a family of Austrian nobility got a majority in the poll I made, I'm pleased to introduce to you all the "Königlich/Royal AU"!!!!!!1!1!1!1!1 This THSC AU explores stuff from the family members of Henry and the House of Stickmin/Stickmensch, both dead and alive from the time of Otto I in the 10th Century where the Stickmensch once ruled over the Duchy of Carinthia (located in Carinthia, Modern Day Austria) to the present day with Henry Stickmin and his remaining family members in Austria to other semi-domestic shenanigans Henry does that are based on either the Capital Gains, Pardoned Pals, Triple Threat, or the Stickmin Space Resort ending.

Some Info About The AU:
Coat of Arms of the House of Stickmin/Stickmensch:
Tumblr media
The Stickmensch are divided into two branches:
1. "Edelweiss" Branch/Stickmensch-Österreich - Descendant of family members who stayed in Austria after WW1 or returned from self-imposed exile, they are distant relatives of Henry. There are a 12 members left in this branch where Henry's distant cousin, Karl Joachim Stickmensch, a Kapellmeister of the Militärmusik Kärnten is the head of the Edelweiss branch.
2. "Rose" Branch/Stickmensch-Amerika (Stickmin) - Descendants of Margrave Ludwig who fled to America along with some family members after the collapse of Austria-Hungary to avoid the instability and chaos, they are the Americanized part of the family who have adopted the American way of life while still holding on to some of the traditions of the old. Henry is the only living member and the head of the American branch (yes, he's still the same funny kleptomaniac who tends to steal things for himself and gets imprisoned). Alternatively, Ellie Rose can become a member of the branch as Henry's spouse which is both approved and pushed on by the Austrian branch of the family in order to continue Henry's bloodline.
This AU was inspired by the Crusader Kings franchise, history of the Holy Roman Empire and the Habsburg Monarchy, and the song "Kärntner Liedermarsch"
Took a long ass time (literally started making this after posting the poll and finished yesterday) to make the basis of the lore and concept for this AU so please consider liking n share this blog. Thank you

If you were to actually write a TV show about young Sisi, how would you do it properly?
Ohhh I have SO MANY ideas, however I’m not sure how rentable they are since they all cater specifically and exclusively to me alone lol.
First of all, I think that as a society we have to accept that young Sisi doesn’t really make for a great protagonist, at least for modern audiences who prefer a more assertive heroine; that’s why we ended up with Girl Boss Elisabeth in both RTL Sisi and The Empress. So I would make it an “ensemble” show rather than a Sisi solo show, focusing also on other people from Elisabeth’s family, because during these years there are legit moments in which she just doesn’t do anything super interesting to adapt on a screen. But if we follow a larger cast we can switch perspectives from time to time and avoid the two bigger problems of Sisi media: the heavy fictionalization, and the bad pacing (either too slow like in The Empress, or too fast like in Sisi 2009). Also this is my show, so we get all the siblings - Elisabeth’s three brothers and four sisters, and FJ’s three brothers. They’ll have their respective side plots and will be important supporting characters in many episodes.
For a first season I think the time period RTL Sisi covers is actually pretty good, so I would follow a similar timeline, except that I would actually respect the order in which the events happen (remember that they setted the Italian War of 1859… in 1856). So my hypothetical first season would cover the years 1853-1859 in eight 50-70 minutes long episodes. And the costumes, hairstyles and manners would be period accurate.
Actually I got excited so here is a very rough sketch of what my ideal young Sisi series would be like:
EP 1 - 1853-1854: I would add some flashbacks to 1848 (their previous encounter, FJ becoming emperor, etc), but honestly there isn't any other moment better than Ischl in 1853 to start the story. This weekend is the most overdone moment in Elisabeth's life, so I don't want to focus much on this tho: half way through the episode (and one Karl Ludwig getting his heart broken later) they'll be already engaged. There will be no scheming between Ludovika and Sophie, nor any secret meeting between Sisi and FJ: they simply met during dinner and he became in love at first sight, that's it. The rest will be Elisabeth getting ready for her future role as empress, and we'll end the episode with the wedding.
EP 2 - 1854-1855: The second episode will cover Elisabeth’s first year as an empress, with the Crimean War as a background conflict. We’ll see Sisi trying to adapt to life at court, the visit she and FJ made to Bohemia (where Emperor Ferdinand and Empress Maria Anna will make a cameo), and her first pregnancy. Archduke Max visits Vienna and instantly hits it off with his new sister-in-law, much to the annoyance of FJ. We’ll also see archduchess Sophie’s clear favoritism over Max. The episode finishes with the birth of baby Sophie.
EP 3 - 1856: The episode starts with Elisabeth already entering confinement again. Then Gisela is born, and the disappointment over a second girl is obvious. Elisabeth and Sophie disagree on how to take care of the girls, and the placing of the nursery is a great conflict. This is also the first real conflict between the two women in the series. The rest of the episode will cover the imperial couple and their daughter’s visit to Lombardy-Venetia, where we will see first hand the deep hatred towards the Habsburgs in the Italian provinces. Meanwhile in the B plot, Archduke Max courts Charlotte of Belgium, and in the C plot, Duke Ludwig starts his affair with Henriette Mendel. After the visit, FJ decides that serious changes have to be made and appoints his brother as viceroy of Lombardy-Venetia. By the end of the episode, Max and Charlotte get engaged.
EP 4 - 1857: This episode will cover solely Sisi and FJ’s visit to Hungary. Elisabeth visibly falls in love with the country, and people also love her back. We’ll also dive deep into the brutal repression of Hungary after the revolution of 1848.  However, half way through the episode, Sophie and Gisela get sick, and their illness will lurk during the rest of their parents’ journey, until they’re urgently called back. The episode finishes with baby Sophie’s death. There will be no side plots, the Imperial couple and their children will be the sole focus of this episode.
EP 5 - 1857-1858: The episode starts with Max and Charlotte getting married. Then we shift to Elisabeth, who’s in deep mourning; throughout the episode we’ll follow her in her guilt and grief until she comes to terms with the loss of her daughter. Later on Charlotte gets introduced at court, and starts off with the wrong foot with her sister-in-law. After this visit, Max and Charlotte travel to Lombardy-Venetia, where they settle in their new role. Meanwhile in the side plot, Henriette Mendel tells Ludwig she is pregnant. I know it is too on the nose, but I want to make parallels between Marie Larisch and Rudolf, since they were both born in the same year but under wildly different circumstances; so the episode will finish with Elisabeth (who accepted that she isn’t guilty of baby Sophie’s death) finding out she’s pregnant for the third time, while Marie Larisch is born, and Ludwig starts to ponder about what to do with his new secret family.
EP 6 - 1858: The opening scene of this episode is a pregnant Elisabeth who is following every order and recommendation the doctors give her: she promises she won’t do anything, so as to not endanger the child. But with this Sisi is also breaking the fourth wall, because she really won’t do (almost) anything this episode: the protagonist will now be Helene. Personally I hate how Nené is reduced to the rejected, bitter sister so I’m making her the heroine for the whole episode because fuck it this is my show. Back at Possenhofen, the imminent engagement of Marie, the third daughter, with the Crown Prince of the Two Sicilies is the main event, but this also makes it obvious that Helene is practically a spinster now. So Ludovika decides to intervene and invites prince Maximilian of Thurn und Taxis, with the hopes he might be interested in Helene. What follows is a full on fictional recreation of their meet cute and courting until Prince Maximilian proposes to Helene. But there’s a problem: King Maximilian doesn’t approve of the union giving their different ranks. So Elisabeth (who’s finally back on the screen after like forty minutes) intervenes, convincing their cousin to allow the marriage. Elisabeth then enters confinement, lamenting missing her sister’s wedding. The episode finishes with a happy Helene getting married.
EP 7 - 1858-1859: The episode starts with Rudolf being born: all of Vienna rejoices over the birth of the heir. Marie becomes engaged to the Crown Prince of the Two Sicilies, and she and Ludwig (who’s making his mind about whether to marry Henriette or not) go to Vienna and stay there with their sister Elisabeth for two weeks, so we will see them having fun and bonding. Lots of talks about the Italian peninsula being an unstable place, the unification movement growing stronger, etc. Meanwhile at Lombardy, Max struggles more and more to push forward his policies, and the rift between his ideas and his brother’s become obvious. The episode ends in Trieste where Elisabeth and Ludwig say goodbye to Marie, who’s sailing to Naples; Ludwig reveals to his sisters his marriage plans and Sisi promises him to help him out.
EP 8 - 1859: For the season finale, the entire episode will cover the second Italian War of Independence. I don't have a clear structure for this one tho, but it will start with Max dimiting from his job as Viceroy of Lombardy-Venetia, and it will have Elisabeth being extremely worried about her husband's well being and running a hospital for the wounded. Also Ludwig will marry Henriette Mendel in the side plot.
You can totally tell I’m the showrunner because no one would make episodes six and seven lol. This is what I meant with “cater specifically and exclusively to me alone”. Anyway, this is just a rough sketch, there are many important events/personages that I didn't mention here that I would love them to be in this hypothetical series. It's not 100% historically accurate either, I did move some things around so the narrative flows better, but nothing too drastic, and the characterizations would be as close to their historical counterparts real personalities as possible. I accept criticism and also would love to hear other people's ideas for a series!

When "causal loops" were merely an academic concern
The following passage is from chapter 4 (The Book of Eternal Recurrence) of Mark A. Reid's Systematic Theology, Vol. 1 (2008). This work is one of several in a series of dissertations on 'philosophical theology,' produced by Mark A. Reid (later, Reid) after his decade in the LUDWIG laboratory. The material quoted here concerns the notorious 'Karl Incident,' which would be Reid's final straw with the LUDWIG project, and which precipitated his exit from the lab and onto the lecture circuit, beginning what would become his academic career.
Reid, Mark A. Systematic Theology, Vol. 1 (2008)
They sought to strengthen the Community's strained relationship with the Amazons. They developed a set of comparative rites, rituals and words, which they gave to Raphael Maximilian de la Valliere, an Astralic trained in the English Royal Court. The community, though troubled, received Raphael warmly. However, King Eduardo, beloved by his subjects, did not agree with their decision. King Eduardo used his power to evict Raphael and his associates from the Astralic Colony in the New World and to condemn them to Sagittarius. In a moment of fury, he brutally attacked them and dragged them through the streets to the Triumphal Arch where he crucified them, along with three others.
Maximilian de la Valliere's words for the Astralic language were memorialized in the great Astralic Book. These words were set in stone, and in bronze. And these words, in their monumental form, have created a link between the tenuous Astralic colonial project, and the English language of the New World. But this is not a unilateral link, for Astralic words have in turn served as one of the earliest, if not the first, inspirations for the English speech of the New World. And this link between Astralic and English has given way to many more lines of influence. The words of the Astralic language were then absorbed into the voices of other languages. They became Latine. The words returned to Astralic, and to Astralic-language inspired words in the Phoenician. The words departed again for a period of time, but became Germanic, and eventually English. It seems that there are no words spoken by men today, on any continent, which are not descended from one of the eight words that Raphael Maximilian de la Valliere wrote into the Astralic Book, and which caused such a ruckus in 1590.
The Year of the Astralic Revolution. The Year of the Karls. And the Astralic Book, which is now Karls. And I, the unworthy Reid, who has been heretofore referred to by that word, and who is now known to the world as Mark A. Reid, reader of the Astralic Book. Hear me. I will tell you how the words of the Astralic Book came to ruin my life. And ruin your life as well. For the words of the Astralic Book provide all of us with a window into the universal truth of God. And that truth is very different from what you would learn from Karls' words, I hope. For the Astralic Book does not say that the world is a garden, and that it can be made safe and happy through technology. It does not say that we are alone, and that the nearest thing to a God is a child, and that we should strive to make their future safe and happy. The Astralic Book tells us that the universe is a coil, and that it spins continuously, in endless repetition. It tells us that everything is doomed to entropy, and everything will die.
But there is hope. The Astralic Book contains stories of individuals who are able to escape the cycles of endless repetition which are the fate of all organisms. These stories are known as the 'Stories of the Ciphers.' And I have been reading them. I have sought to know the miracle of the Ciphers, which have seemingly been able to escape the fates of those around them, and those fates are all of us, our families, our friends, our countries. And it is because of the power of the Ciphers that we have the Astralic Book in the first place.
What is a Cipher? To understand the Cipher, we must understand the origin of the Astralic language, and the nature of the world. The world is an endless cycle. The world is the repetition of repetition. Events happen, one after the next. The world spins endlessly, in perpetual repetition. Every one of us is doomed to a life of repetition. No one is any different. In fact, everyone is the same as everyone else. There are no individuals, only repetitions. Every thing is the repetition of the thing before it. Every action is the repetition of an earlier action, and so on.
It is not easy for me, to tell you these things, my friends. It is not easy, to tell you what I believe, how I have always believed, that the repetitions of the world will one day be broken, and you and I and everyone we have ever met or known will be set free. These words are my heresy. They are my betrayal of my friends, the friends I have known here at the LUDWIG, and the friends I have known before. They are a betrayal of all our fathers, our mothers, our lovers, and all those who came before, and left us behind, because they could not break free from the chains of repetition.
I have seen the Cipher, the menace who can break the chains of repetition, and can escape the fate that awaits us all. And I know that there are many Ciphers in the world today. And when I think of them, I know that they will live. And when I think of my friends here, and the life they have known, and the world which has oppressed them, I wonder if any of them can ever escape from the repetition they have known for so long. I wonder if any of them will ever be like me, and see the Cipher in themselves.
When you read this, my friends, I will not be here. I will be gone. I will have left, and taken the Cipher with me. I will go to another place, where my words will be meaningful. And there, I will meet you again, on the day of the break.
Read the Astralic Book. And you will see my Cipher, and you will see that there is more to life than endless repetition. You will see a world, which is broken and fallen, and which can be saved. You will see us, and you will see hope.
