Mantle evac asker again: thanks for a well-crafted response and apologies if I put you on the spot. TBH I'm not even sure Ironwood *needed* that semblance explanation for his unraveling (or a semblance *period;* a fair number of capable RWBY characters don't have one) with his pre-existing authoritarian tendencies and post-Beacon PTSD in play. Feel free to expand on Robyn if the mood hits, 'cause ye gods could watchers be giving her & the H-Huntresses a fairer shake.
Hi anon! Sry for the late reply, I've been busy
Yeah, true, the Semblance thing works to reinforce what we already understand. Honestly the primary reasons I wish it was talked about in-show is bcus the only reason we even know what his Semblance is is bcus the writers talked about it at some panel, and it could contribute another layer to Ironwood's character
According to the RWBY wiki's article on Mettle (link), apparently they wanted to explicitly state it in V7/V8, and had it in mind while writing Ironwood, but couldn't find a way to work the reveal in without damaging the flow of the show. I learned that just now and found it interesting
I just think it's cool to see negative aspects of Semblances tbh. They're meant to be the manifestation of a person's very soul and while they're usually shown in a positive light seeing the bad side of it is an interesting perspective. Like we see Qrow struggling with self-loathing (and the closely connected depression and alcoholism) due to Misfortune, in After the Fall/Before the Dawn Yatsuhashi fears his own Memory Wiping Semblance, etc. Seeing Ironwood have similar struggles I think would humanize him a bit while still not excusing his actions. It'd make him even more interesting imo. Does that make sense?
But now to the main point, yay, I get to talk about this! I only just had this realization as I was answering your previous ask
Ok so. Some ppl [nobody here] claim that Blake and Yang trusting Robyn with the info on Amity was "dumb" of them bcus they didn't know for certain if she was trustworthy at that point in time. Which, I can get why ppl may think that, but I respectfully disagree. I don't think "dumb" is the right word at all; in fact, I think the fact that Blake and Yang were even willing to try this shows a lot of how their characters have grown
Think about it: these two have rly bad trust issues
I mean, Blake was abused by Adam and faced harsh discrimination as a Faunus. In the early volumes of RWBY, she struggled to even trust her team for a while, hiding her cat ears under her little black bow until the truth came out completely on accident. And when she was finally able to trust them, the Fall of Beacon happened, her trauma with Adam came rearing its ugly head, and, blaming herself for Yang losing her arm, Blake left for Menagerie. (You can see in little details how high alert she is thru a lot of V4 and maybe even V5; off the top of my head, in the first V4 episode we see with her, when the captain of the ship to Menagerie approaches Blake, her immediate instinct is to reach for her weapon.) She didn't even trust herself for a very long time, and due to the horrible stuff she's seen, also had a hard time trusting other ppl
Then there's Yang, and gosh, she's been thru sm too. After she lost not one but two moms, her trust issues seem to manifest more in a fear of abandonment. Near the start of the show she was largely motivated by her search for Raven, hoping to understand why she left—but when she meets Raven in V5, she almost instantly sees thru most of Raven's lies. When Blake left after the Fall of Beacon, Yang had a harder time than the rest with it (see: the whole "Why isn't she here for me?" conversation she had with Weiss in V5), and even had a harder time accepting her return (the awkward air between them for the majority of V6 was palpable)
When Blake and Yang killed Adam and defeated some of their inner demons in the process, not only did they feel able to fully start trusting one another again, but I think it may have helped them to start trusting others, as well
Iirc Blake and Yang were talking about Adam right before they spoke to Robyn about Amity. Now I'm wondering, was that just a coincidence? Or was it a suble acknowledgement of their character development together?
Of course they didn't know whether Robyn could be trusted with that info, but the fact that they were willing to give it a shot demonstrates a lot. And I don't think it's stupidity, or naiveté. I think it is an amazing point in the development of Blake and Yang, a mark of their willingness to trust in the world again
And in hindsight, we can say it was a generally good choice. It was a little rocky at first, with the damage it caused to Ironwood's trust in RWBY. But for a wonderful fleeting moment, it led to James Ironwood and Robyn Hill (of all the ppl who could work together!), once diametrically opposed, standing in unity to help the ppl of Atlas and Mantle...
Well... Until the Black Queen arrived. But we covered that already
Also I totally agree with you that certain corners of the FNDM do the Happy Huntresses dirty. I mean, disagreeing with their methods from a political standpoint is whatever, but like... don't mix them up with the bad guys. They're rly not. They looked at the blantant inequalities between Atlas and Mantle, said "We won't stand for this", and started working for change. I'm pretty sure it was even said that they were all graduates of Atlas Academy that theoretically could have joined the military and done well in it—but they chose not to. Bcus they felt protecting Mantle was more important than upholding the Atlesian status quo. Bcus they too were hurt by the toxic culture of Atlas and decided to make it so that the ppl of the future didn't have the same struggles. (And honestly I think they made the right choice. Look what obeying the status quo did to the Ace Ops. Half of them are dead and the other half are super traumatized now, if they weren't already.) Good for the Happy Huntresses
Also briefly circling back to the Semblance conversation! I love Robyn's Semblance from the whole "manifestation of the soul" outlook bcus I think it fits her as a person so well. I mean, Lie Detection? For someone who is so unbending in her pursuit of the truth? For someone who will always stand up for what she believes in no matter the scorn she may receive? YES, I love it! And it even checks the boxes of having an additional layer of a setback: When empathizing with Qrow in V8, Robyn explains that having a Semblance that could detect lies led to it becoming difficult to make connections in her childhood bcus ppl were scared she would sniff out their secrets. Lie Detection is probably one of my favorite Semblances, despite its simplicity, purely from a storytelling pov

Omg, I just wanted to say I ADORE your characterization of Al and Vox! I don't even have the words to express how much I love reading your stuff, especially the Anon responses you post on here. The behind the scenes thoughts are literally my food, lifesource, its so good when people not only write characters IN CHARACTER, but also include stuff about their analysis/understanding of the character too.. I'm literally obsessed with breaking down characters and yk, cracking their chrome domes open to see how they work (which admittedly, I am not the best at <_< but I love reading them). Just wanted to say how much I love your writing. I had maybe 2 questions, please don't feel pressured to answer them :>
What in your mind (in reference to the 66.6 fics) would motivate Alastor to let Val get close to him in the first place? Or was that more you picking these two characters up by the scruff of their necks and plopping them into a hypothetical scenario to explore their character and write some fun intimate thingsTM?
What do you think of the dynamic of Vox and Al vs something like Lucifer and Al? Personally I've noticed that something Alastor craves, behind the mask of his static smiling persona, is attention. He's (at least how I saw it) usually peeved when people don't care about his absence, and seems especially bothered by the King of Hell refusing to really acknowledge him, so he goes out of his way to push Lucifers buttons (like calling himself a father figure to Charlie, IN FRONT OF HER ACTUAL FATHER LOL) whereas with Vox, Vox is literally CONSTANTLY thinking about Alastor. Man literally interrupted his regular TV program to do a segment about how much he totally didn't at ALL care about Alastors dissapearance or the fact that he returned (suree buddy). So Alastor can have more fun with him and annoy him by ignoring and messing with him on purpose.
ty if you do respond to this, sorry if it was hard to understand, sometimes I forget how to put the thoughts in my brain into coherent words!
Ahhhh, thank you very much, anon! I'm especially happy that you're enjoying my commentary on Tumblr, haha - I spent a while on Twitter because that's where all the fandom zines I was in were being hosted, but nothing beats Tumblr for giving me a nigh-unlimited word count and a captive audience for my rambling! >:D <3 I'm back to cocooning myself on the OG hell site.
Thank you for this ask, it really brightened my day! :D
As for your questions:
1. I'm assuming that was a typo and that you mean Vox (but in case you did mean Val: that was just a funny accident of him walking by the room! Alastor wasn't paying enough attention until it was too late), and to that I say:
I think Alastor allows Vox to take a go at him in canon because he finds Vox's obsession with him to be entertaining, but also because Alastor is kind of a narcissist and that same obsession massively feeds his ego, especially in a political climate that otherwise forgot about Alastor. Vox's whole "Who gives a shit about Alastor coming back?! Haha, now let me have a public meltdown and short out power to the whole city about it! Oh, fuck, why is he back, though?? Can we send a spy in to find out??" is exactly the reaction that Alastor wants every time he mentions his mysterious absence and gets brushed off.
At the same time, Alastor doesn't seem to register Vox as a sincere and genuine threat. He's a big enough fish in the Pride Ring pond that his obsession with Alastor is gratifying, but Alastor's self-absorption also doesn't really allow him to treat Vox as a threat tier above "annoying in a funny way, and also television is stupid." (Perhaps this will change in season 2... :eyes: (or perhaps Alastor will get Even Worse) (please god let him get even worse))
So those two things in combination make Vox the perfect candidate for Alastor to experiment with while maintaining his ego and not feeling particularly threatened. Despite Vox's Safeword 101 talk, Alastor would never put stock into that system with Vox unless he was certain that he himself would be able to back up a 'no' with overwhelming force. Him even considering safewords in the Live On Air! series is less for his own sake and more a politesse he offers on Vox's request to warn Vox to slow the fuck down before Alastor tries to put his insides on the outside.
2. And in direct contrast, we have Lucifer...
... Who Alastor obviously actually cares quite a bit about, because he's a whole nother power tier from both Vox and Alastor, and furthermore and possibly even more importantly, a credible threat to Alastor's relationships and standing in the hotel. I think a lot of discussion I see about Alastor prodding Lucifer seems to talk about how quickly he got annoyed about Lucifer's comments, but that misses the fact that he was pissed off before Lucifer even showed up. He got pissy the moment he saw the welcome sign, actually! And I wager that he was narratively absent for the scene where Charlie actually calls Lucifer because he would have done his best to manipulate her out of doing so had be been there.
And given that the two clearly haven't met before (though obviously Alastor knows of Lucifer - and hates that the inverse isn't true, hah), it's not 100% clear exactly why he's immediately so annoyed, but in my personal view of things and barring something like "he's projecting onto Lucifer because his contract is with Lilith," I think that what we know of Alastor's personality points most strongly to "he liked being the hotel's benefactor and sees it as His Project, and doesn't like the idea that Charlie called daddy for something that she thought mysterious, powerful Alastor couldn't handle." He distracts a lot with obviously-goading comments about practically being Charlie's dad in his duet with Lucifer, but underneath that he puts a lot of emphasis on the work he's done for the hotel and the fact that he's been supporting Charlie and the hotel from the start, so why the fuck is this deadbeat asshole suddenly turning up?!
Tl;dr: Charlie missed her insight roll on Alastor's personal investments and he's sooooo offended - and taking it out on Lucifer!
I think one of my favorite things about both Lucifer and Alastor is that they both sooo obviously belong in the Pride Ring, hahaha.

RAINCODE COMIC DUB~🎙️
NEW PROJECT ALERT!
Story takes place at the start of Chapter 4 (MINOR SPOILERS)
Comic Title drawn by Kazin (as well as the whole comic)
Tumblr media
Here's the Dub! Vocals and Editing done by me 🎙️📑 Enjoy!!
Further Rambling Below
Hehe I bet you all didn't think voice acting was among my list of hidden hobbies/talents didja? (I’m just full of surprises x3) Well... I can only hope that I delivered well enough here. (please feel free to laugh at my attempted Yakou voice… LMAO)
So this is yet another collab project that @kazinsblog and I did together. The story is based on a kokowendy ch4 canon divergent skit that I made way back last fall. When Kazin saw it, she wanted to make it into a full comic. I didn't protest (I never do LOL) but then I wanted to try something.
I've never attempted a solo dub of a comic before, and honestly I didn't think I would with RainCode due to a majority of the characters being male. Sadly with my naturally high voice I can only do so much with attempting male voices. I usually only do female or child character voices.
But since Kurumi is the lead role of this story, and has the most lines, I decided to give it a try. I do love Kurumi (she's my best girl) so I hope I did her justice here. I like to think I did her voice fairly well. I struggled a bit with the guys (and Halara) but I think my Yuma is decent enough... x'D (plus it was really fun making him sound tired and out of breath :3)
I do enjoy Kokowendy as a ship, though I'm not a huge shipper. But these two are just too cute... ;w; So I think a scenario like this suits them both. Plus it gives Kurumi a chance to be reliable and try to help her beloved hero in his time of need <3 Honestly it can even be seen as platonic. Its very tame (the only small hint is that Yuma blushes at some point, but that's it)
I had a lot of fun doing this!! I got the voices and editing done in only 3 days, so it’s definitely not a long lasting project. (on my end anyway) But I still think it’s a pretty big project with all of the work both of us did. Editing the video was probably the most fun part for me >w< I knew exactly what BGM and sound effects I wanted months in advance c: I only hope I did the editing style of it right. Comic dubs are very peculiar in the way they’re done… 💦 (also no I’m not putting this on YouTube, this is a tumblr exclusive ONLY! And I give NOBODY permission to re-upload it without my consent!)
I’m not sure if I'm the first that's attempted a RC comic dub before, but if I am, then I am very happy c: Idk if I'll do another full one though. Like I said too many of the characters are male... x'D This may be a one time thing for me here. But if I were to do one, I figured why not on a comic that was made specifically for me? c: (ty again kazin!💕)
Anyway I'm done yapping now, I hope you all enjoy! 💜 Feel free to let me know what you think or which role you enjoyed from me the most! (tho I think the answer is obvious lol)

20 Questions for Fic Writers
ty for the tag @unpredictable-probabilities! I don't usually do tag things but I'm feeling an exception today and I want to ramble lol let's GO!!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Right now, 51! I think i started using ao3 back in college with rvb fic lol. I've since orphaned 2 fics so I guess there wouldve been 53.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
86,956
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Right now, mostly just Twisted Wonderland (and the occasional dndads, I still have a fic in my brain I kinda wanna write for that). Twst was kinda my comeback to wanting to write fics and has been my main inspiration for a lot of things and it's been the most fun i've had writing fics I think, and it's eventually what's gotten me to try to write my first multi chapter fic.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1. Slip Ups and Lift Ups (Stardew Valley) 444 Kudos 2. A Fishy Intervention (TWST) 354 Kudos 3. Company (TWST) 249 Kudos 4. Security Cauldron (TWST) 248 Kudos [my first twst fic i think? also has some errors in it teehee oopsie] 5. Because I Care (TWST) 234 Kudos
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes!!! I think I didn't used to? Maybe because I felt weird about my own comments changing the comment count and like it was somehow lying lol. but that's silly and i like talking to people and I Need people to Know that i Love Their Comments
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
hmmm I do not write much angst, and even when I do it's more hurt/comfort, bc permasads make ME permasad. I think it was my rvb fic "forgotten" - which i always forget was my first fic uploaded to ao3 LOL, back in 2015. ironic that my first wasnt reflective of the tone i usually write for. i don't wanna reread it to check [even tho my fics from back then are WAY shorter] bc im scared to face how i wrote when i was fresh outta hs lol BUT if i remember correctly/based on the summary, it was a doc/donut fic and I think it was about how after doc had disappeared from the future cube or whatever in canon and no one knew he was gone, i wrote a scene of doc getting upset with donut bc Of All People Why Didnt You Notice I Thought I Meant Something To You 😔 kdlsjfkdlsj i think it ended with doc walking off and donut being SAD and idk maybe they broke up, idr if they were 'officially dating' in the context of that fic. but um hashtag docnut for life.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
most all of my fics are happy endings with an exception of like one ^ or two lol. I don't know if i can quantify those!
8. Do you get hate on fics?
not to my face if I do lol. I don't think enough people know about me to give a shit if i do stuff they dont like
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
nope!!!! i dont really like smut personally and it's not the kind of genre i have story ideas for.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I don't think i've ever done that 🤔
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not that I know of!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
not that I know of!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
nope!
14. What’s your all time favourite ship?
girl help i cannot choose. um. well first shout out again to rvb's docnut bc u will always be strong and married in my heart. and in dndads im an oakworthy truther til i die BUT for twst. twst beloved twst i am in that pitfall of i like 50000 different ships. jamiazu is the one i write and draw the most LOL and theyre def a top fave HOWEVER. god. treycater alters my brain chemistry. rookvil marriage real. adeuce beloved fool duo for life. im physically restraining myself from mentioning more KLFJDSKLFJS especially when we get into the multiship/poly web bc god we will be here all day. i can and will be enabled but this post is already long enough GOODBYE!!!!
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
oooh ok well there was a dndads oakworthy thing I started like last year but pretty soon after I started it, we started seeing more of hermies forbidden other 'true' personality traits and i was like ruh roh this guy keeps pulling a fast one on me, i dont think the direction i had with this fic is fitting anymore. i had barely gotten anywhere with it and it wouldve been short anyway, but i think about what couldve been.... lololol and then for TWST umm. Hehe. Teehee even. Back during nanowrimo I used that as time to start 2 fics: kalim and the great relationship rescue, which is my current multichap fic about kalisil and jamiazu, it’s got about 3 chapters, and I’m still writing it. AND IM STILL GOING TO FINISH THAT ONE!!! but the OTHER one I started during that time and have NOT posted any of it yet was the stuff with my first twst oc, Char, and his place in my big caterella multiverse ideas lol. I’ve posted a bit about that story idea and done a lot of doodles and brianstorming for it, but I fear it would be too intimidatingly ambitious to stick to and I’m not sure writing one concrete fic is the right medium for it 🤔 plus I just don’t think many people would like it much LOL it would be very self indulgent and tapping into my soap opera brain. I feel nervous when I talk about it HAHDBFNTG so I’m not sure I could commit. But I still have what I wrote, and maybe I’ll figure out another way to go with it or maybe I’ll just wake up one day and say WHATEVER and write it anyway lol. I’ve gotten shyer again so we’ll see 🧍
16. What are your writing strengths?
umm. i do not know if it is a strength but i feel more light comedy and dialogue come more 'naturally' to me, but i do not know how well i actually can pull it off LOL also shorter, contained stories. Everything I write is a one shot, and I’m struggling on my recent attempt at a multiple chapter fic BDBFFBFNGD
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
hrhrnrngm more descriptive writing, i find im in the pitfalls of writing TOO MUCH dialogue. and i also feel like when i try to do more serious tone things it comes off as cringe or trying too hard kFDKLSHFLDSJ. no one's said that to me but yknow. fear and whatnot. also ending the story is. Hard. I feel like that’s always a weak part of my fics bc I sit there like WELL I WROTE ALL MY IDEAS HOW DO I WRAP THIS UP…. I worry my endings come off kind of half assed but I do my best lol 😔✌️
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
like are you asking if i would do it? or how i feel when it's done in fics i read? i dunno lol. i could maybe do spanish bc ive studied it a lot but i'd get nervous i think.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
on ao3 it was rvb bu teeeechnically back in my neoseeker forums days i was in there writing like, animal crossing or harvest moon or pokemon stuff. it was very bad bc i was like 10 years old LOL
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
ohoho ummmm. Well I always have fun writing jamiazu and I’ve written a LOT of those lol. I have a soft spot for The Comfort of Familiarity. That’s one of the ones hats taken me the longest to write because I was really trying hard to handle it with care, as it was a less light tone than I typically do and I was trying to explore the characters and their situation in a particular way that I really wanted to come across well with who reads it. It was hard, and I’m not sure I fully got there, but ultimately I did like it quite a a bit. on the flipside, one of my more recent fics and I think now my longest oneshot to date, Blue Raspberry Mango was VERY fun to write lol. That one’s a lot more like what I typically write, silly romcom style lmao. Cater and Idia goofing, characters bickering, friendship, me trying to sneak in as many side ships into the background for funsies, jamiazu is there, it was a good time. And that one started as a prompt suggestion which I feel like often times I end up struggling with and not delivering super well… but this one ran away from me and I had a blast lol. Idikei fixed me 😌✌️
Ty for tagging me! Umm. I am too scared to tag other people 🧍 goodbye jk @officialgleamstar 🫵 You Do It
[sorry if I missed any typos or autocorrect, part of this was on my phone and I always miss SOMETHING lol]

Hi! First of all, sorry if this ask doesn't make much sense since I'm just kinda throwing this all out here, but this has been bouncing on my mind for a while now and I'm not sure how to put all of it together and thought that maybe you could help haha.
So about the whole mind-soul-body plot and how they interact with each other in JJK. I've been having a string of thoughts about this that's been getting bigger:
-The three clans. I don't know where Gege's unpredictability may take this, but the fact that he left the Zen'in's spot in the Big 3 undecided (ch152) + the Kamo clan up in the air makes me think this plot's kind of important (along the three vengeful spirits, tying the past with present, although that's heavy on theory lane so don't mind it much). And I was thinking, what if each clan are meant to represent/relate to mind (Gojo) body (Zen'in) and soul (Kamo)? When were the 3 big jujutsu clans even founded and why are they the ones? Something about jujutsu's pinnacle being the balance between mind-body-soul?
For example, Gojo's DE targets the mind, Gege himself acknowledged how it's interesting that both sorcerers with a heavenly restriction about enhancing one's body are coincidentally Zen'in (+ the clan's techniques having so much to do with body parts) and this is more of an unreasoned relation, but so far people related to the Kamo (including Yuuji through his half-brothers and Kenjaku) have had the topic of one's soul and their own individuality come up — if they're more curse or human, if they're more duty or their family (Noritoshi).
-> this also led me to Jung too. I'm no expert whatsover so I'm not going to expand on this, but I can also kinda see how the Gojo can represent the persona, Zen'in the shadow and Kamo the self. Since you're the expert in this area I'd love to hear your thoughts and if I'm completely off.
-Lastly I (and many more people I guess) have noticed that from the start of the CG, Gege's been putting Yuuji, Megumi and Yuuta kind of in a level of importance of their own. Not only narratively but also visually, with some panels and art featuring the three of them together/in a trio composition. And while I have another whole separate set of thoughts on "Gojo's successor/next strongest", I do believe Yuuta's relation to the Gojo, Megumi/Zen'in and Yuuji/Kamo has to do with this.
So my mind makes this whole relation between the body-mind-soul topic, the three clans, Yuuji-Megumi-Yuuta (something about the future generation who are against the beggining/cycles coming to an end?) and even jungian psychology but idk how to make a proper statement about where this might lead. Like, I see /something/ there but I'm not sure what, and I was hoping you could help as much as you can because it's rotting my brain lmao.
I'm sending you this because I really love your posts and thoughts on JJK. I'm not sure/can't remember if you've talked about something similar to this though, so if you have I'd love to read it if you can link it!
Oh! I see and love to see the wheels turning lol.
This is fun stuff! Thank you for sharing anon.
idk I just feel like, even if Gege does not necessarily expand upon this theme, I think you're onto something there with the whole symbolism for each clan, and that the reason they are the 3 major clans has to do with their relationship to mind is body is soul.
There's something here about how dominating their particular subject, whether mind, body or soul, is what led them to become recognized.
I did try to reframe your thoughts but my agenda sort of failed loooool 🫠. But I'm going to share my logic anyways because my rambling might help you clarify your own thoughts.
Depth Psych mini lecture to taco'bout it under the cut.
Ok so I see it more as:
Zenin is mind.
Gojo is soul.
Kamo is body.
Tumblr media
But first, I think it's important to mention that the way Gege uses mind is body is soul confuses me sometimes.
Thing is, we are ideally meant to think of it as if this holy trinity (3) makes up one whole together (4). This "whole" is called the Self in Jungian terms, and it is thought to be the entirety of our existence (mind (includes the shadow) + body + soul).
Tumblr media
Also, from a numerology and esoteric standpoint, you also want to consider that four (the Self) symbolizes stability and order, where three (mind + body + soul) is harmonious but not balanced.
AND, sometimes it feels like soul is the Self and encompasses mind + body.
Confusing, right?
It only gets more confusing, but I think this maxim itself needs a reframe that is more in tune with the actual Holy Trinity which states that:
The Father (mind) is not the Son (body) is not the Holy Spirit (spirit), BUT the Father (mind) is God (soul), the Son is God (soul), and the Holy Spirit (spirit) is God (soul).
Tumblr media
I do have to say that, if all of these different aspects are indeed aspects of God, then why does the Father ≠ the Holy Spirit ≠ the Son.
If that made any sense at all lol. Thanks for attending this mental gymnastic session and sorry for the late warning.
Tumblr media
Like I said... confusing. It doesn't help that Jung was also sort of contradictory when speaking about what the Self was, although there is a general agreement that the Self is the soul as it guides the mind and body through reality. So perhaps it's more accurate to say that the soul = mind + body + spirit.
Anyways, I'm probably thinking too much into this LOL.
Let's start with mind
While the visual of the iceberg to represent the mind is more popular, in Jungian terms the mind is more akin to a lightbulb or a lit candle, right? Everything the light touches is what you are aware of that you are aware about the world. It's also the personality as it is shaped by the interaction between outside factors and your inner world.
Tumblr media
But then there's the shadow side of the mind, everything that the light does NOT reach. Not only is it everything that the conscious mind doesn't know that it doesn't know about the world, the shadow is also a sort of repository for any traits and qualities that the conscious mind is not able to accept about itself.
Why am I saying all of this? While I totally agree that the Zenin could represent body because of the whole heavenly restriction bit, to me, because 10 Shadows is the clan's most important technique I think I just made this up but I feel like Gege does imply this lol, we're meant to think of Zenin as mind.
I think it's also relevant how Megumi is undergoing ego death and how you can track his development through nuances like his two divine dogs (black and white) becoming one (grey). This is all mind stuff.
@blog-of-hubris has thoughts on the whole heavenly restriction bit that I am not sure I can do justice.
Then we have body
To me, I am interpreting this way because the clan's cursed technique is related to blood manipulation. Although there is also something here about blood symbolizing the animating principle of the body, so I can see how it could also represent the soul.
Not my agenda crumbling to pieces LOL.
I also love the whole idea you mention around how blood is thicker than water and that's what binds us to certain people.
Soul is next
Admittedly, this is the weakest part of my agenda lol. Something about Gojo being all-seeing and able to have access to all information, I can see why you'd think this is mind given how Gojo's technique works. But to me, that feels more like a byproduct of how Gojo experiences the world and makes sense of it with his mind.
I also think it's pretty relevant that Gojo appears to be able to recognize souls.
Tumblr media
Perhaps this even sheds more light on how Gojo knew what Megumi would say about saving Yuji as one anon asked before.
Anyways, that's my shameless agenda.
So my mind makes this whole relation between the body-mind-soul topic, the three clans, Yuuji-Megumi-Yuuta (something about the future generation who are against the beggining/cycles coming to an end?)
This is neat! Anyone reading this got any ideas? I feel like my thoughts may or may not be helpful.
Like if we take Yuji (Kamo), Megumi (Zenin) and Yuta (Gojo)... are you thinking about their character arcs? or the larger picture?
I don't know if this helps you but what I'm getting out of the big picture is the idea that there is a wholeness that needs to be achieved.
I'm thinking of how Gege already told us only one of these kids will survive this ordeal (is mind, body or soul surviving?) and also about how a Gojo and a Zenin ancestor respectively once killed each other in battle. So there's something here about how these factions are at war with each other when in reality they are part of a larger whole.
Which is a neat idea if you think about how Nori once told Megumi he would become the pillar that supports the three families.
Tumblr media
In more practical terms, think about how your body has a consciousness in its own right that your mind might have a tendency to ignore because it has its own agenda.
Another important detail to keep in mind is that in Jungian Psych, the Self is kind of a dick lmao. Ok not really a dick but... let's put it this way: if your mind has an unbalanced attitude that needs to be corrected (i.e. ignoring the body's wisdom), the Self will orchestrate reality so that your mind and body move into specific experiences according to what the mind needs to learn. The Self doesn't care if these experiences cause suffering, it merely has a function and that function is achieving wholeness and the becoming of who you are meant to be.
So whomever survives has a big task ahead of them in terms of making meaning out of what happened in the past, how the conflict even started, and what can be done differently.
Unfortunately, life doesn't always give us neatly wrapped, happy endings. So I fully expect some ambiguity in what Gege wants his audience to take away from his work--after all, he's writing about meaning-making.
Tumblr media
Hey anon! Thanks for the comments and for sharing your thoughts with me. Hope this helped and do keep me updated :)

also (same anon as before) tell me how you felt about qoaad!! any predictions for twp?
if you haven’t, i recommend reading the novella books:
- the bane chronicles is fun especially if you like magnus.
- tftsa was so cute i loved her (read nothing but shadows before you read tlh)!!
- ghosts of the shadow market is definitely super important for world building for tlh and twp, so i strongly recommend reading it before them (it could be a little boring at times, i admit. but jessa is adorable). read cast long shadows and every exquisite thing before you read tlh. the rest is a lot of world building for kit’s background and jessa.
- OH OH also read the tec series if you haven’t (it follows malec) and i think it’ll eventually connect to twp.
- i believe cassie has these short stories about the tlh cast set before chain of gold. i remember reading them every month on her newsletter before the book came out. i think you can find them on her website? they’re not super important but they do get referenced once in a while in tlh
you probably know all of this and i probably mansplained (can you do that if you’re a girl?) everything 😭 but it’s better to be safe than sorry!! i hope you had fun reading everything and def let me know if you have any questions!
I'm gonna do my best to answer this in a comprehensive manner (let's see how long that lasts lol). You're my fave! (feel free to pop into my messages if you ever wanna chat or anything)
Okay I'm gonna start by saying that I had a strange relationship w TDA. I mentioned some of this in my initial post but I'm just gonna go through everything for continuity sake, if you will. Last summer I intended to finish the 3 series before my semester started. I got through all of TMI and TID but finished only LM and 150-ish pages of LoS. I waited till this summer to pick back up. I remember feeling bitter when I started LM because it was strange to have a modern-set book that didn't focus on my fave TMI gang (I watched the CoB movie religiously when I was younger and, before I knew better, watched the show weekly). It took me a while for Emma to grow on me and I initially had a hard time keeping track of all of the Blackthorns because there were so many of them. What kept me going were all of the connections to Mr. Poe (yes, I just called him that. deal with it.) I've started rambling so let me summarize this portion by saying that TDA didn't snatch me up until mid-LoS. okay, onward.
QoAaD was so reminiscent of CoHF and I loved it very much. WARNING SPOILERS FOR ANYONE WHO MAY READ THIS FOR SOME UNGODLY REASON. I appreciate the importance of the Thule portion and know the book would be shit without it, but, despite it still being fantastical, the apocalyptic vibe was not my fave. It was nice to get Livvy back for a bit (can I just say how shocking it was to have her death right after Robert? cause I feel like cc v rarely kills important characters so I thought Robert was fulfilling the death requirement yk?) and I LOVE to hate Sebastian. I'm gonna say something crazy here. I love Kit and Kieran more than I love a majority of the Blackthorns. Kit has been my fave character from this trilogy and I am not ashamed to admit it. The entire Ty Livvy spell shit was crazy because I completely felt Kit and wasn't angry at him for not outright saying that it was a bad idea, especially given the situation. I just can't believe cc had me expecting them to be fully in love with each other by then end, ONLY FOR THEM TO NOT EVEN BE ON SPEAKING TERMS (yes I know I need to be up to date w SoBH, I just need business day or two to marinate in my TDA emotions). The battle was epic, Julien's meeting was genius, Kieran is a great king, and the Malec wedding nearly had me sobbing. I'm gonna stop here w my thoughts on QoAaD cause it's getting out of hand. I am so sorry I am typing you up a full essay.
Predictions:
watch cc give us a 3rd plot that gets crazy because of some questionable heavenly fire incident (I mean, technically all three series plots that I've read have involved it if you count Jace's affect on Jem).
I'm super worried about a main character death because I think it would shatter me but it's also probably necessary? idk I dont wanna think about it
I also feel like something crazy is gonna happen to Aline and Helen because although they were literally exiled, nothing too traumatic happened to them in the main line of the story that the reader got to directly experience
not a prediction but truly me BEGGING ON MY KNEES for Jace and Kit content. I need them to be drama Herondales together. Also, Jace literally told him to come to him for personal advice so Jace helping Kit deal w his relationship w/feelings for Ty would be ideal (I really don't know how that would happen but let a person dream)
Final Segment:
Don't worry about mansplaining, youre good bae. I'm in the loop but I'm also not at the same time, if that makes any sense at all (there goes my promise of writing in a comprehensive manner). The only reason I haven't purchased the novellas is solely because it's more efficient for me to purchase a box set of a trilogy. (I do have the Codex and The Denizens of the Downworld books though). CC has done her best to make her world make sense but that woman writes up a storm and no matter what I'm always behind lol.

yeee ty how fun~~!
10. Has a piece of writing ever “haunted” you? Has your own writing haunted you? What does that mean to you?
Ohoho I'd say writing that pops up in your head months, years later after reading it is something that haunts you. There's some handful of fics I've read through the years that have done that to me, a few of my fav books too :3 as for my own writing, ngl one of my heroaca fics does bc i really liked my take on red strings of fate lol special level of haunts me bc i keep thinking to rewrite it as an original piece
25. What is a weird, hyper-specific detail you know about one of your characters that is completely irrelevant to the story?
I can't remember if it ever ended up in writing, but Ju Long's mom is a laundress and sometimes had big jobs from local/traveling theaters for the costumes. She'd give them a discount if they let her son watch their performances :3 So almost all theatrical performances Ju Long has seen are thanks to his mom. Thanks mom <3
32. What is a line from a poem/novel/fanfic etc that you return to from time and time again? How did you find it? What does it mean to you?
I'm sure there's plenty of lines that have impacted me, but my memories are pure vibes. theres no room for specifics here lmao
38. What is something about your writing process YOU think is Really Weird? If you are comfortable, please share. If you’re not comfortable, what do you think cats say about us?
Hmmm. I was gonna say i don't think anything I do is weird. And then I remember my writing process of spacing out updates for hella buffer isn't very common in the fic scene lol. I read so much damn fic and... my way is kinda weird now that i think about it haha. I used to be a post chapters whenever they're done type gal, but somehow these days, my brain works best if im actively ahead of where I'm posting
it's easier to stay out of blocks imo. bc if im busy or stuck on a scene, im still being productive posting chapters so i dont get hung up on being unable to write. gives me a little motivation boost getting comments too =w=/<3
If anyone else wants to get me rambling ;3

(guy that asked about souls and william here) I had a similar idea for how the souls worked as well. My idea was like you said giving them an AI on top of their original programming. For the memories of their past life I used proximity and method of death for how it worked. For example William's death was extremely agonizing and close (literally inside of it) to the thing that he possessed so he remembered most of everything, but some of his victims just had quick deaths in the same building as the animatronic so that don't remember much. I am also in the same boat of not knowing too much about the books so I get it. I like your explanation of souls because it is simpler to understand that most while to being able to make a story around it. The only question I have is if the animatronic keep their AI when the soul it put at peace and leaves.
[Okay, this is WAY longer than I intended lol. I am putting it under a read more so I don't ruin's some one's dash with my rambling and theories on AI and souls and stuff lol, have fun reading!]
TLDR: Yes, the AI would stay if the soul leaves (I go into GREAT detail of different possibilities though if you are interested)
[Glad you liked my idea/explanation! I like yours too! I actually forgot about how William would give sentience to Spring Bonnie lol! Looks like you found a plot hole in MY explanation haha! Though, thinking about it, I do feel like William is in a different situation from the kids he murdered in the sense that (from what I've heard on tiktoks) that he experimented with soul juice/remnant. So that probably had something to do with him being actually fully conscious as Springtrap.
That or since he was an adult with a more fleshed out soul, that would mean he could actually puppet the body fully unlike the children's souls who can only influence. I personally don't like that idea though so hmmm.... The Puppet could also have had something to do with it, tying his soul to Spring Bonnie and then leaving since she still couldn't find peace like with the others (which then later led to her capture in Lefty). Yea, I think that's going to be my reasoning why William is able to stay fully "alive" and puppet his animatronic compared to the other souls! Or the fact that while the springlocked suit is in use for a human, the programing is completely off, so William's soul couldn't connect to INFLUENCE the code, and could only connect to the body itself (which honestly COULD be a cool fight between William and Spring Bonnie for control over the Springtrap body lol). I'll have to do more thinking on William and his soul, so for now, let's just go with the fact that his soul is in possession of a husk or something that he can puppet around.
And hmmm, that last part is tricky to answer, because so far, everytime an animatronic lost its soul, it has basically been destroyed. So that does pose the question of whether they would have an AI still if the soul left.
Okay, so hear me out. I am NOT a super techy person when it comes to Artificial Intelligence. I am going for more of believable si-fi than concrete science we have (as you can tell since we are talking about souls lol). But to me, there is a difference between advanced coding and personality, compared to something like real Artificial Intelligence and sentience.
For me, advanced coding/personality is something that humans can give to the robots. Things that make robots fairly predictable. The Toys have very advanced coding and believable personalities. My Mapbot, as of right now, has a very advanced coding, but no real personality. This gives all of these robots the ability to process complex situations and (for the toys) minic what a human can do, but they have no real wants or thought process of their own. If their code does not give them an option to think of something (or no access to the internet to come up with a new solution, which is Mapbot's case) then they will not be able to continue whatever process/questioning was happening.
Now Artificial Intelligence and sentience is something even MORE advanced than any real coding we have today. Like we, in our world, to my knowledge, have never made a complete ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE that can truly replicate the human mind and thought process. It has all been very advanced coding with no real critical thinking skills or ability to "think outside the box". It is a great leap to get from advanced coding/personality simulation all the way to literal AI that has the same, or even more, processing power of a human mind.
Once this leap has taken place, I see it more like.... a baby's brain, if that makes sense. Let me explain. A baby's brain is always growing and taking in new information, and the connections in the brain are the strongest, which is why it is important to teach your kid to speak and do basic care during their early years, it's the most easy. As humans get older though, they don't GROW their brain, if anything, it gets HARDER to learn new things. With artificial intelligence though, it would be much easy to KEEP those connections between processors consistent and clean, allowing them to GROW their brain and understanding. They grow beyond their base programming, adding to their code and even finding places to put extra coding or creating zip files of folders and stuff to make room.
The best example of this I can think of, and what really inspired me with AI, was SCP-079, where it was able to recode itself entirely to give it like 48 hours of memory instead of it's initial 24. That is something that AI is able to do, recode itself, or make "phantom code" (I made this phrase up, so anything you look up about this is probably not what I am about to explain) where it is more like real human thoughts. Real code is something you can see on a computer or iPad or something, anything that can connect to a robot. But for me, "phantom code" is like a human's thought, something that can't be seen on a computer (properly, I know we can see brain functions and energy in the brain, but not literal thoughts).
So like, looking at the Glamrocks, since for me this is about 2045, and this world is already pretty advanced with robotics considering robots with super advanced coding was present in 1987 ( the toys), it is safe to assume that my FNAF au world is much more technologically advanced than what our real world will be in 2045, which is why the Glamrocks actually have made that leap from advanced coding to artificial intelligence. The did not need a soul to make that leap, so they will not ever lose their sentience unless given a factory reset (which I guess the closest equivalent would be a lobotomy, where the shell of the person is the same but the mind is not, but for robots their mind would just go back to the basic state while for a human who was lobotomized, they were disabled against their will, that is a different story altogether that I could get into.) Anyway, the Glamrocks can still have things like real thoughs/phantom code. So like, uh, let's say Chica learns a new recipe by herself, and she loves the taste of it. Because she has an AI, and learned all that, she doesn't have to make a code that she LOVES that food, it's just something that she knows and thinks.
However. When it comes to the animatronics with souls, they did not have any advanced coding. Maybe the Puppet, but like, it didn't have advanced coding to be able to "think" or mimic thinking, it was advanced in its security protocol (which again, wasn't that advanced because it was stopped by a heavy present lol). So the only way these robots were able to even make the leap from BASIC coding to ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE was with a soul.
But as I explained, AI grows and develops, especially phantom code (or even the animatronics recoding themselves). So, that soul allowed the animtronic to gain sentience, if it were to leave? I think that robot would still have sentience, depending on how long they have had the soul and how far along they are with their AI.
If the animatronic had the soul for only a little bit and made the jump to AI, then the soul left, I think the animatronic would be more "itself". Meaning, I think the animatronic would still have AI, and be thinking for itself without any outside influence. They can find out what they personally like and care about, dislike or hate, WITHOUT the influence of a soul making them prefer something over another. An example of this would be this, let's say Susie (I think that's the one who was stuffed inside OG Chica) hated pizza to all hell for some reason, once Chica gained AI/Sentience, she would stay away from pizza for some reason, not knowing why. Once Susie left, Chica could find out if SHE liked pizza or not, and not be influenced by Susie's hate for pizza.
If an animatronic had a soul for a WHILE, then that would be different. The AI and Soul's influence would start to meld together and be harder to separate. Using the Susie example again, if Chica had spent YEARS avoiding pizza, and actively did not like it for some reason, then once Susie left, Chica would still not really like pizza. But she COULD end up liking it after a while. Because now she can grow herself. But that influence will still stay with Chica and cause her to do some things that Susie preferred to do, or avoid things she didn't like/hated.
Honestly, something like this could also cause a mid-life crisis or imposter syndrome or even depression. That would be because one day Chica just doesn't feel the same anymore, and will have no real way to know why that is, and might feel broken because of it. This kind of thing would probably need therapy and other accommodations to deal with, just like a human with depression or burnt out or whatever needs. Probably for not as long, because the AI will grow to be less problematic over time, but that doesn't mean there won't be problems that reflect the same problems a human brain has.
Okay! Uh, I THINK that's everything I have containing to souls/AI right now. I probably have more, but I believe this answers your question(s). If not, then WHOOPS! I went on this ramble for nothing lol! Anyway, hope that made sense and was fun to read!]

OC lightning round: do you have an OC tag? who’s your favorite OC? what OC have you had the longest? are there small details about your OCs people wouldn’t imagine?
Ughh i had a lot of this written out, but Tumblr decided to glitch and erase it all. hatred and violence. anyways, lets see how much i remember lol. this was a fun challenge tho! ty!!
do you have an oc tag:
a few!
#mended/meltedwings: an old oc story that i wanna rework sometime. (Icarus is from that)
#vamp gang: my vampire ocs!
idk if i've used this one yet, but #farmer buddies would be for my ocs Crow and Brandy
#Craig/Dr.fizz: is a placeholder for an oc story i don't rly have a name for yet
and #Ferretcry's code is my warrior cats ocs. i ramble about them so much hjkjh
favorite oc:
I don't rly have one. i tend to shift interest in ocs around. i have a big soft spot for my man Icarus tho. he's so silly and angsty. homegrown poor little meow meow <3
Tumblr media
what oc have you had the longest:
my first ever oc was a wolf called Muffin Top. his main personality traits were liking cupcakes, being scared of chickens, being kind of dumb, and being nice. his tongue also always lolled out. the mark on his butt was a face i doodled once, and decided to give to him as a marking
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i also redesigned him in 2020. not that happy w that design now, but figured i'd show the difference anyway. the wolf w the blue and green hair is his gf Bubble Pop, who i also redesigned at the time
Tumblr media Tumblr media
small details of ur oc ppl wouldn't know:
a lot of my background wc ocs (some of them i haven't even mentioned on her) have their own bits of lore. lets speedrun some:
Robintrill and Cardinalflight of thunderclan are divorced. they're also the parents of Roseshine and Mushrrom speckle.
Heathpaw of windclan saved a tooth from the first rabbit he caught, and intends to pierce his ear with it when he becomes a warrior.
Coldbreeze of windclan and Humidbreeze of riverclan are gonna have a forbidden relationship. yes i paired them based on their names lol
Pinestrike of shadowclan and her adopted son Olivekit are brough over from an old oc story of mine. in it, Olivekit was a dog that a cat w the prefix Pine adopted. his full name was Olivegrowl. Thicketstep and Ratstar are also from that story. Olivekit is now just a cat since i didn't feel like adding a dog plot.
Sootspots of Skyclan really wants a mate. he's gonna try and ask out Cricketleap at some point, but it's more out of loneliness than anything.
Bumblefoot and Petalfall of windclan are siblings and they're both very clumsy. they're named after that, and not too happy about it. Bumblefoot is short and stocky, which makes chasing rabbits hard. he'd be a good tunneler if that was still a role. he spends most of his time in camp helping out Bugwhisker. Petalfall on the other hand is super lanky and all legs. she has a tendency to trip over them. her and Bumble are very close.
Pikestar of Riverclan's dad, Wavestar, was named after his fur which curls like waves. he's actually yellow like Pikestar and Creekshine.
Bravelight of thunderclan is named after a cat my neighbor had.
Claywhistle of riverclan is actually pretty nice. he's friends with Herbwhisker.
Herbwhisker of riverclan is related to Pikestar. probably a cousin or something.
Grousefleck and Snipebeak of windclan are siblings
Pinestrike is Hickorywing and Hollowoak's mom. this makes Hickorywing one of Bogshne and Burclaw's uncles.
Owlbristle's of windclan's mate is Wheatstalk. he likes to nap while her and her friend Twilightstarling talk. he is also interested in what they have to say though, and likes to listen as well. Wheatstalk is actually the son of the current deputy, Henfeather. she used to be a perma queen. her brother is Roostercall, who's Heathpaw's mentor.
that's the last of the tidbits for now lmao. this was v fun to do tho! even if tumblr kept messing me up while making this post lol

Black Veil Conspiracy Time
So I've noticed something with Andy's costumes for the TPT era videos/photoshoots. He's always wearing a garter around his thigh but the color of it keeps changing. I'm starting to think there is significance to it considering how detailed Andy is with his outfits (especially in this era).
I first noticed it in the Scarlet Cross music video where it's red. I figured it might just be part of the black/red color scheme but then it appeared in all the photoshoots. Then all of a sudden (around the time they started posting the pool photo shoots) it's white. Then in the Torch teaser, it's black (with a red suit, so the reverse of the black suit/red garter).
I wanna hear people’s theories on it and I’ve got a few myself. I'm hoping that with the album/comic release we'll find out what it actually means but until then I thought it might be fun to hear what everyone else thinks it could symbolize.
(Disclaimer: These are just my interpretations of what it could mean and is just meant for fun.)
Theory 1: Religious/Historical Meaning: Garters are traditionally worn by brides and have come to have different purposes/meanings. Given the name of the band is Black Veil Brides it could just be an easter egg type thing or it might have a symbolic meaning.
The garter originated because people believed having a piece of a bride's dress was good luck. That led to bridal parties ripping a brides' dress off in an attempt to get a piece of good luck or to help "consummate" the marriage. In order to prevent this, the tradition of the garter toss started. Giving someone a "piece" of the dress spared the bride. Andy could be wearing it to symbolize the idea of giving a part of himself to the fans/world through Black Veil's music. Much in the same way brides used to toss their garter as a way to appease the wedding guest and keep from having the rest of their clothes ripped off it could be his way of saying "here I will give you this (the music/band)". With the expectation being that in sharing that part of himself he will be allowed to keep the rest of himself private. Andy is a pretty private person when it comes to his daily life, but being "famous" makes that hard.
Another meaning of the garter goes back to the importance placed on the bride being pure (aka a virgin). The expectation was that on the wedding night the groom would "deflower" the bride. The families also placed a great deal of importance on this and the garter was often used as "proof" that the marriage was consummated. Thus tying it to the idea of purity/loss of innocence. If you listen to Black Veil/Andy Black's discography there is a recurrent theme in the songs of innocence, specifically of lost innocence. I think Andy could have incorporated it due to this meaning which would also tie into the religious themes of the TPT era. The changing color (see next point) is also what makes me think this might be closer to the meaning behind it. Andy was 18 when he moved to Hollywood which is still very much a teenager. Before his 20th birthday, he was touring the world, signing major record deals, and basically forced to grow up very fast. There's no end to people waiting to take advantage of young, impressionable, and starry-eyed kids in order to use them for personal gain. I mean how many childhood stars end up fucked up as a result of their early fame, then have to navigate their way back to who they really are. Andy's spoken quite a bit over the last few years about how he kind of fell victim to the "rock n' roll lifestyle" during his early years. I think the "loss of innocence" he's possibly referring to is the blissful ignorance that kids/young adults have about the world. Once you learn how ugly the world can be (whether that's the music industry, fame, or the world in general) that childhood innocence starts to go away.
You can't get it back, and although it's replaced with knowledge and better judgment, I think a lot of us miss the carefreeness of childhood. If this is the meaning behind the garter then I think the color change really deepens it.
Theory 2: Color Meaning: Red -> white -> black I think this has to mean something. Red could symbolize being tainted in some way, whether that be shame, sin, the idea of having "blood on your hands", crime/blasphemy, etc. The fact that the red garter appears in Scarlet Cross, a song about being branded with a scarlet cross as punishment, I think makes this more likely. The lyrics almost explicitly state this idea "A symbol for my shame, the color of your name, its how they see you break, and live with my mistakes". The red garter could be his way of saying there is some sin he feels the need to atone for. Alternatively that he feels he's being accused of a crime/sin. If you read up on The Scarlet Letter there are several parallels to the TPT storyline as it's been revealed so far. I think at least the song was influenced by the pop-culture idea of a "scarlet letter".
The change in color to white (generally seen as good, holy, pure, etc) could mean that whatever sin or transgression has been committed has been absolved. As we saw the red garter in Scarlet Cross, I think it's interesting we see the white garter in an abandoned pool. Pool = water and water is cleansing. This might be a coincidence but it's interesting nonetheless. I do think that the white garter is supposed to symbolize whatever "bad" thing the red meant being forgiven/cleansed.
Which leads us to the black garter. The fact that we first see the black garter in the Torch teaser which appears to be set in a graveyard makes me think it symbolizes death. Interestingly, I believe he wore a version of the red garter that had a black stripe on it which could have been foreshadowing. There is also an inversion of Scarlet Cross where he wore a black suit with red accents, now he is in a red suit with black accents. Andy said that the four music videos represent a story within the TPT world and this could play into it. However, I don't think the "death" meaning is necessarily bad. It could be, but since it was proceeded by white, it might mean that since whatever sin has been absolved he is now free to let it die. Death could symbolize freedom. The teaser made me think back to the Coffin music video which featured Andy closing the lid on his "Andy Six" persona but left the question as to was he really dead.
We'll have to see what Torch brings but I feel that the garter and its color could play into a wider theme of closing a very long chapter in his life/the band's. Since this comes at the start of a new era, before the album I think it might be a way to transition into that new era. The last album, Vale, was a very dark album. Andy has spoken about how horrible of a place he and the band were in (due to reasons I think we now all know given the events of 2019/2020). I have a feeling this new era represents freedom from what was haunting them, past mistakes, etc. The lyrics for Feilds of Bone speak to this idea in my opinion.
Theory 3: Other: There is meaning in The Phantom Tomorrow world and that will be revealed in the album/comic. It might have a personal meaning for Andy or he just thought it was cool and a way to color coordinate. Alternately he's just be fucking with us for fun lol.
I hope you all enjoyed my conspiracy ramblings because I've had a lot of fun thinking up different meanings. Shout out to Andy for creating such interesting looks and for his creativity. I'm loving all the hidden messages, cryptic posts, and mystery surrounding this album. I'm so incredibly excited for it to come out. Feel free to send in your own theories or anything else you've noticed so far!

3. how long have you been writing?
like since i was old enough to pick up a pencil lolol but if u mean fanfiction then since 2011 (tbt AFF days omg)
4. on which platforms do you post your stories?
mostly tumblr, sometimes ao3 depending on the fic
5. what is your favourite genre to write?
fluff and humour i guess? usually involving some kind of getting together and heart fluttering moments hehe
6. are you a pantser or a planner?
a bit of both but it really depends on the story! would say that anything 10k+ deserves a scene by scene kind of plan, and anything shorter is more of a visualization of scenes in my head
7. one shot or multi-chapter?
definitely one shots omg the last time i attempted multi chapter it's been incomplete and sitting on my ao3 since 2018
8. what is the perfect chapter length in your opinion?
uhhh 5-8k maybe?
9. what is your longest published story?
the juyeon lipstick au sitting at 10k, but it will be the sunwoo soulmates au at 16k soon
10. which story did you enjoy working on the most?
the lipstick au!!! had so much fun writing the banter between mc and kyeobmuda in there, oh also the christmas fic with jaehyun was super fun!
11. favourite request you've have written and why
awkward back kisses with humour LOL. this was a request on my old blog but i revamped it and now it's the prompt that turned the lipstick au into what it is today
12. are there reoccurring themes in your stories?
uhHhh a dose of second hand embarrassment and clownery 🤡 otherwise it'd be a cliché kiss scene near the end of the fic oops
13. current number of wips?
other than the sunwoo soulmates au i have likeeee 1-2 ish? 🙃
14. three things you have noticed about your own writing?
the amount of improvement there's been within the past few months!! anyways uhhh what are dialogue tags, too many long rambling sentences, and too many repetitive parallels
15. a quote you like from a published story
"hot people have hot friends" from if the lipstick matches, and this from maybe we'll just keep fallin
16. a quote from an unpublished story
"just let me know if you really want me to move on. i'll do it, y/n. i've been ready for a while now."
17. space for you to say something to your readers
as always, if u made it this far, ty for reading! 💓 also that notes don't correlate to quality so if any of you are afraid of starting your own writing journey because of that, hmu and i will love the heck out of all your works (´∀`)♡
