if you liked the barbie movie but felt there was something... missing, i can recommend these movies
the brady bunch movie (1995) (what happens when characters from an artificial world end up in the modern day "real world"?)
the muppets (2011) (same question! and a playful advertisement for a media institution which re-invigorated interest in the brand. "am i a man, or am i a muppet? or a muppet of a man?")
the wiz (1978) (what does it mean to be "real"? what are you willing to risk to be real? also: real sets, real props, real song & dance numbers!)
gold diggers of 1933 (1933) (busby berkeley musical; you haven't seen true mind-blowing opulence in sets, costumes, and hundreds of people dancing at the same time til you see this)
but i'm a cheerleader! (1999) camp queer classic, lots & lots of pink & natasha lyonne)
watermelon woman (1996) (what does it take to succeed as a creative woman in a world that denies your humanity? what archetypes define you in film history? and can you acknowledge that and subvert that at the same time?)
desert hearts (1985) (a woman breaks out of the status quo and falls into a lesbian love affair in the desert <3)
gas food lodging (1992) (mother-daughter relationship stuff!! girls becoming teens and feeling disconnected from who they were as children -- but who are they now? and how can they find new common ground with their mom?)
enchanted (2007) (honestly super similar beats to the barbie movie except with more clear stakes!)
the tales of hoffmann (1951) (weird musical w/ a few stories, including man who falls in love with a human-sized doll! and great gowns, beautiful gowns)
pee wee's big adventure (1985) (you ever just want to have some fun and ride around on a cute little bike in a cute little outfit but everyone is against you for some reason?)

Ketu placement and your most core self
So i want to talk about my personal experience about an artist I love, how she has been haunting me throughout my life and about how art imitates life.
I have ketu in jyeshta nakshatra,(and shoutout to all my 2002 babies with ketu in jyeshta, love u) and at age 10 i discovered an artist whose name i've heard of but never knew. I clicked on a song that youtube recommended called "Back to December" and i really do remember it so clearly, how natural it was and how i wasn't thinking as i branded Taylor Swift (sun in jyeshta) my favourite artist. I remember explaining passionately to my dad why I loved this song and how it differed from RED and how those songs were my safe space because while i had to try hard for anything else, this was natural and easy and just perfect.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here i credit claire nakti, who you should know if you're interested in vedic astrology. She made a video about ketu and creativity and one's "daemon" that is really worth checking out.
Moving on, ketu is your creative, primal energy that is unaware. It's the headless body, the tail of the serpent, our past, where we come from, what is natural for us, past lives and untamed power. For example, as a ketu in jyeshta native I've always felt close to the hero archetype (I even wrote a song about that around that time), the poor orphan who rises into the world, the brave soldier who outsmarts everyone, the survivor, the winner against all odds, the grumpy independent individual, and even as a young girl, the archetype of the eldest daughter, which I actually am. I've always felt a little masculine at my core, and this explains why, as jyeshta is very masculine. All these archetypes I associate with jyeshta.
Jyeshta is known as "the best". You can only be the best if everyone else is worse, so we have the theme of competition. Jyeshta is located fully in Scorpio, and is very much about the occult side of life. It's shakti (power) is "to rise, conquer and gain courage in battle" (multiple sources). I know personally that jyeshta will never let you win an argument or back away from tension, the exception is only when there's no need to. My jyeshta moon cousin makes me so mad because he's always trying to lecture me to appear smart. That's definitely a more negative manifestation of its energy.
Anyways, in her video, claire nakti says that if you feel drawn to some art, it's been most likely created by someone with their primary placement in your ketu nakshatra. Now, this is not a rule, as I've definitely liked other artists, but Taylor's music felt too personal and custom-made for me, like she knew my taste and life from inside out.
Flash forward to summer 2019 and Taylor has released Lover, I'm sitting on a hill and cannot believe how Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince is so perfect, so me.
I went through my reputation era when she went through it, i went through a personal rebirth as she released Lover, I felt depressed and alone when I finished my school and she released folklore (tbh most of us did(SOLIDARITY TO CLASS OF 2020 MAKE SOME NOISE)) . Around that time I disovered Dickinson(a tv show) and here is my next point.(?)
Dickinson stars Hailee Steinfeld(jyeshta sun) as Emily Dickinson(also jyeshta sun), and it's about her life, yes, but mostly it's about Emily's creativity. There's a character called death that I believe relresents Emily's daemon(watch claire nakti's video for more clarity, but basically it's the opposite sex version of you, your creative self, and is represented by your ketu). Death appears whenever Emily feels different, like she needs time alone to herself and rides with him in his carriage, he also empowers her. Interestingly, Hailee Steinfeld's ketu is in Uttara Bhadrapada, which is Wiz Khalifa's(death) moon. That, in my eyes, solidifies the theory that he's representing her daemon.
Tumblr media
I had discovered claire nakti recently at that time and also discovering this art that felt very personal to me was a little overwhelming, not to mention that i was going through a VERY stressful time in my life. As i grew so did my creative energy and I reached a certain block, but now I look at my art from that time and it's so... raw and pure and true. Tbh that time was extremely traumatic for me and it's traumatic to remember it but hey, I'm so much better now. I started my ketu antardasha at that time and it ended in february 2021. Still hard to remember yes, but I heard ketu dashas always are, you always come out more beautiful and true out of it tho 🙂.
So, be careful with ketu energies, they're not for us to misuse. There's always Venus after ketu so it's another reason to smile.
Please interact with me if any of this was interesting or felt familiar. Not all posts are going to be like this, in fact, I think they're gonna be more rare. This was a really serious post and brought up some stuff in me ngl. I really didn't deserve to go through the trauma, nobody does. But it's not all consuming, it was nothing really, it was just traumatic at the time. Anyways this is becoming a lot so wait for more aesthetic posts, I'm venusian after all 💖💖💖 love u guys, take care. 🤍

Year-End Poll #63: 2012
Tumblr media
[Image description: a collage of photos of the 10 musicians and musical groups featured in this poll. In order from left to right, top to bottom: Gotye, Carly Rae Jepsen, Fun, Maroon 5, Ellie Goulding, The Wanted, Kelly Clarkson, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, One Direction. End description]
More information about this blog here
We're starting to see the sound of the 2010's differentiating itself from the 2000's. EDM and dance pop is still big, especially that "festival sound". Nicki Minaj's Starships and Rihanna's We Found Love are notable examples of the "wordless chorus" (where the song builds up to a drop or some other kind of musical phrase instead of a traditional chorus) that will continue to shape the decade's musical landscape. We'll also start to see more examples of songs being attributed to the producer in addition to, or in some cases instead of, the vocalist.
But what's especially interesting this year are the new ways artists are being able to grow an audience. Traditional methods of promotion like TV are still present, with Fun's We Are Young gaining widespread popularity from its cover on Glee and One Direction gaining their initial popularity off of The X Factor. But this is the year we're starting to see the trends shifting. While Carly Rae Jepsen was already making a name for herself in the Canadian music scene through her appearance on Canadian Idol, her debut hit Call Me Maybe, started to take off in the States after Justin Bieber tweeted about it. This wasn't the first time a song blew up online, and it wasn't even the biggest this year.
I won't bury the lead: this was the year Psy's Gangnam Style took off worldwide. However, the song is not featured on this poll, because it only made it to number 47 on the Billboard Year-End chart. This is notable for any Korean language song (especially at the time), but for a song that was so universally known and parodied, if feels odd that it wasn't bigger than it was. The reason for that is Gangnam Style became popular through its music video, and Billboard didn't factor YouTube views into their charts at the time. Billboard changed their data collection to include YouTube views later this year. Was it because of Psy? Maybe. But after this year, we'll start to see a lot more instances of songs taking off in part to the performance of their music videos -- even more than the peak of MTV in the 80's.

The way you’ve characterized Lonely Wizard in your retyrement au fic (esp in that drawing you shared of the students and their interests outside of the painting interest that Magnificus kind of forces onto them) reminds me of the song “Remedy” by Little Boots. It’s a song all about how music and dancing can be liberating and freeing from a toxic mindset, and that really seems to fit their character.
not only are you right, you've enlightened me to a true banger; wiz would definitely jam to this kind of music ngl
Tumblr media
the only thing i'd dispute is that technically (in this AU anyway) the students are kinda trying to force the painting interest on themselves; they each have other forms of art that they're much better at and more passionate about but due to mag's reputation and level of prestige have convinced themselves that painting is the only true "high art"; that being said magnificus and his ego certainly won't miss an opportunity to feed into this misconception lol
but generally the song's lyrics fit into that reading too i think! also, not to spoil my own story, but the "dance with the enemy" bit of the chorus will become quite a bit relevant to wiz's character later...

When I was in high school I was in orchestra. When I was a sophomore, junior, and senior, my lunch hour was dictated by the fact that I was in orchestra. Orchestra also had a very high percentage of nerds. Like I'm talking AP class taking, D&D playing, mathlete champion, potential ivy league nerds.
And me.
I fell into this group of mental powerhouses by default and luckily I found a bit of acceptance, but I was well aware that I was the dumbest of the smart kid group.
I've always sorta carried that with me, even until now. My friends from high school that I still am in contact with have big fancy jobs in STEM, and masters degrees, and are doctors, and moved to silicon valley, and who knows what else. Even when my social group shrank and the people I regularly associated with were just Kyle and our friends B and L, I was still the dumb one in the smart kids group. An engineer, an architect, a computer science wiz.
And me.
My brain is filled with more useless information on topics no one gives a shit about than you could even imagine. Want an in depth history of My Chemical Romance? Not a problem. An opinion piece on why Dallon Weekes in the poorest little meow meow in the music industry? Already ready to go. Interested in discussing the EF ratings of tornadoes? I hope you know what you're in for if you start this discussion.
But sometimes I think if I had the time to dedicate to learning something valuable that interests me, I'd be able to pick up on it in no time. Like I feel like I have the potential, but things like science and math don't stick in my head. I can't just get by on vibes and guesses even though that's how I live a good portion of my life.
I don't know where I'm going with this, other than maybe I'm not as dumb as I think I am, I just don't have any interests that are marketable enough.

Fashion in Oz: the Good Witches (3)
Tumblr media
To end this look into MGM's Glinda and her heritage, we need to stop by the recent "Oz: The Great and Powerful", aka the unofficial MGM sequel done by Disney. An interesting take here because here Disney didn't try to recreate the MGM design as closely as they can while still making it different enough to not be sued (like they did with the Wicked Witch of the West). Here they decided to reinvent the design of Glinda, to have their own thing, very different from the MGM version. Gone is the puffy, pink, shiny princess dress - now we have a simpler, body-fitting, white dress (not a nod to the original Oz books I think, here they just delved into the "white is good while black is bad" dichotomy), more fitting for a "serious" (cough cough) and action-focused (cough cough) story. Its still quite silvery in design though, mixed with the white (the sleeves in particular are very silvery). The hair is now straight and blond - I do believe that they made Glinda blond as a nod to the "Wicked" incarnation of Glinda/Galinda. The crown is still here, but now turned into a regular-size tiara, of a dim golden color - and a very distinct "Art Deco" feeling to it. (It does make sense as in "Oz the Great and Powerful", there is a strong presence of the Roaring Twenties aesthetic in Oz, such as Evanora's outfits which are clearly 1920s party outfit-inspired). Also very interesting is that the linear and angular pattern on the diadem, beyond just being Art Deco, also evokes the idea of light, rays of light - which is one of Glinda's symbolic elements here. No stars here, but feathers - feathers on the... how do you call that? Bodice? *Google checks* Yes bodice. So feathers on the bodice and shoulders (the other dress of Glinda in the movie also has feathers on it, so it is a recurring thing in Glinda's design). The feathers represent two things here - on one side, it does point out how Glinda's magic is tied to "celestial" and "aerial" elements (bubbles, mist, light...), but it also is here to present her as opposed to Evanora, who also has feathers in her design, but black ones. Another interesting detail I noticed - while MGM's Glinda went for a "fairy princess" aesthetic, and subtly introduced a fairy imagery ; here, we actually have an angel subtext. I mean consider it... a blond woman dressed in white, with feathers and a "crown of light"? That's a very "angelic" design right there
Tumblr media
I actually forgot one last "MGM-Glinda" incarnation, that must be talked about: the Glinda from the 2011 musical "The Wizard of Oz", adapted from the MGM movie, the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical. I had the chance to find an extremey high-def picture of Glinda's costume for the original incarnation of the musical. As you can see we have another heavy reinvention of Glinda's design. While there is still a large and ample dress, gone are the pink thrills and puffy sleeves - we have a sleeker, shoulder-revealing dress that doesn't have a star pattern on it, but is still covered in littel glistening crystals shining under the light. The great staff is still here, with a stylized star at the top, and now Glinda's color palette is mostly a deep blue - in the show, it makes her match with the almost all-blue environment of the Munchkin (because despite being based on the MGM movie, the show's crew decided to add some elements of the book, including the all-blue Munchkins). We'll probably talk about the "blueness" of the good witches at a later point, with the Wiz. And no crown here, but rather a strange, pointy-beehive of blue hair swirling on its own. A specific hairstyle that, as you note, is also shared by the Wicked Witch of the West - here we have a double symbolism, as the hairstyle is meant to evoke a tornado, while also imitating the idea of a pointy witch hat (similar to for example Mary Sanderson' hairstyle in Hocus Pocus). And in the hair you might notice similar glistening crystals to the one on Glinda's dress. In fact, the "Good Witch of the North" having little shining white crystals all over her blue or dark-blue outfit seems to clearly evoke a starry night sky. Interesting fact: You can find behind-the-scenes videos of Emily Tierney (Glinda actress) putting the wig, makeup and cristals to "transform" in Glinda. It is in three parts. Part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m55oMUoen2Y Part 2:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgzXArXaN6o Part 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sw4tWnD_dK8

TEAM LEADERS
The next day, with the team in formation and a few points under their belt, a scramble slam is announced. Generally the only time in these games where teams directly compete with one another in an observable way. Scramble Slams function the exact same way as in Neo with each team trying to claim other territory until one remains, introducing Usagi to the 3 other teams and their leaders as a result.
Tumblr media
“The Shibuya Art Club” Led by an eccentric artist Kizuna Hajime, her group predictably made up of artists who ended up in the UG and developed a friendship with those of similar interests. Generally, according to reapers Usagi and her team meet, The Shibuya Art Club has been in second place consistently since being formed with some theorizing this is on purpose so they don’t actually have to leave the UG. Their art can be found all over Shibuya and their members are generally covered in paint and the like. Kizuna herself is particularly loud and quick to anger though shows a clear love for her team and new friends, being quite friendly with multiple reapers.
Tumblr media
“The Blacklights” Led by Hayato Shiro, a boy (around 12) who is described as a psyche wiz. His team is notably composed of those with an inclination towards gaming and internet culture. From what is said about them, they’ve only been in the game for a couple weeks but are predicted to win this particular week. Haruto is quite odd, speaking quietly and bluntly, albeit without malice. According to one of his teammates, his sister was the previous leader but was erased in an incident shortly before Usagi joined the game.
Tumblr media
“The Rock n Rollers” Led by a man named Haru Iwao, a guitarist and the band mate missing from the previous day’s mission who died in an accident along with a couple friends, forming their team shortly after arrival in the UG. Next to Usagi’s team in the Fleeting Butterflies, this team is the smallest but quickly shows to be competent given the familiarity they already had with one another prior to the game. As their name suggests, they’re big fans of music and eager to find a way back to the RG. Haru is a particularly kind man, showing more friendly competition with Usagi and her team despite the stakes. Showing encouragement throughout the slam. By the end of the slam, the Fleeting Butterflies have won, followed closely by the Rock N Rollers.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CnPOH-xu4X2/?igshid=YWJhMjlhZTc= New Six casting call! Think this’ll be the 2023-24 Aragon and Boleyn tours or have those already been set in stone y’think, abd this is for 2024-25?
It’s just not that clear or definitive! Before I get started let me quickly mention that Six also had auditions for Bway/tours in Chicago in 2020 and in LA in 2021, and has also since announced open calls for Nashville and Orlando (I’d expect with more to come).
Two general categories of auditions:
1. General calls “for future replacements” if needed. The intent of these usually isn’t to cast for a specific production or role. It’s not even uncommon for shows to not even have open roles when doing a future replacements audition! The intent is instead to hold auditions so that they can see what actors are out there that might be a good fit for when they DO need replacements. Sometimes these are an Equity submission call, sometimes they’re non-Eq open calls; sometimes they’re held in NYC, sometimes they’re not. But “for future replacements” is just about seeing people for the future as they might need rhem, rather than casting a specific production or a specific cast change.
2. Auditions/callbacks for a specific cast, held when they need to cast/re-cast specific roles. These are often labeled on notices as “for immediate replacement” (which doesn’t actually mean that actors start rehearsals or debut immediately, just that they’re putting out a call with the intent of casting for the actual immediate future). Usually these are calls for agent/unrepresented actor submissions. Sometimes they can also be open calls, and Six did have these open calls for WE/UKT way back when, but we won’t see this style of open calls for the US/UK again.
So…Six is doing the first scenario: future replacements, not for immediate (ergo not inherently for a specific cast). More specifically, they’re doing an open call outside of NYC. That’s basically functioning as them going “okay, we’ve held enough auditions in NYC now that we know what actors here we might be interested in for the future, and now we want to see what types of actors/singers we might be missing from outside of NYC.” Sometimes that’s about finding new actors from up and coming theatre scenes, sometimes that’s about exploring musical theatre scenes outside of NYC, sometimes going to cities with performers who might have more of a background in pop/music than musical theatre, etc. Some shows hold non-NYC open calls intentionally in cities with a racially diverse population; often that’s to try and see more actors of a specific racial background, who may not have been able to move to NYC due to structural racism (etc) in the theatre industry, or who choose to stay in a city where the local theatre industry is known for being a little bit more accepting/diverse/does more shows that they’re passionate about often because of a cultural element. For example, The Wiz is holding open auditions in Atlanta, which is one of the US cities with the largest Black populations and a thriving theatre/film/arts scene that often heavily features Black actors/creatives, so them holding an audition there helps them check out that casting pool as well as NY! All around, these sorts of open calls are just all about expanding horizons and seeing who might be out there that they just don’t see in NYC!
For some examples: Nashville + LA are two huge music cities with a ton of artists who might also have a theatre background and be a great fit for Six. Both have some of the most elite college/university music programs which gives Six a chance to potentially see some up and comers (vocal performance or musical theatre) who might be a good fit for Six either now or in the future (Aryn Bohannon, Gabriela Carrillo, Madeline Fansler, Wesley Carpenter are a few of the queens who went to those colleges!). LA + Chicago are both incredibly diverse (both with immigrant populations and as popular destinations for Black Americans during the Great Migration) and Orlando is pretty diverse as well. Chicago is also known for having one of the most diverse and progressive theatre scenes (there’s a reason Six debuted there first!). Nashville is less diverse itself (although still solidly so), but is in a pretty central spot of the Southeastern US and within a few hours’ drive of several cities that serve as huge cultural and artistic hotspots for Black American. LA + Chicago both have larger musical theatre scenes, but they generally (not always) have less crossover with the NYC scene because of travel constraints so there are some great musical theatre actors in those cities who might be missed in normal auditions (Cassie Silva + Gabriela Carrillo are both LA-based, Keirsten Hodgens and most of the og NA Tour cast were Chicago-based).
All that to say….those open calls are just a few days, long enough for initial singing audition, a dance callback, and sometimes another singing round for the auditionees to sing from the show. That gives the casting team enough of a feel for the actor, their vibe, and whether or not they might be a good fit for the show in the future. But they can’t do chemistry reads and it’s not at all long enough to decidedly cast them in the show. So…if they DO think an actor is a good fit for the show overall, then that actor might be called into NYC in the future to join the audition process for a specific production and replacement timeline. If so, they’d be auditioning alongside anyone Six brought in from agent submissions plus any other actors called in from the assorted open calls. But that could happen any time - two days after the initial open call, three weeks after, six months after, two years after, all of the above? All completely in the realm of possibility. It just depends on if the production/roles they’re casting at any given moment could be a good fit for the individual actor. If you do get called into those production-specific callbacks, the rest of the process will the same as it is for the other actors there.
Re 2023-2024 or 2024-2025. No, 2023-2024 casts aren’t remotely cast yet. Last I heard Aragon Tour had started the super early stages of auditions but won’t be cast for a long time (the process almost always drags on for months). Boleyn Tour and Broadway each won’t start casting in earnest for probably 5-6+ months yet. Individual actors from these open calls could get called in for any of the above or even for 2024-2025 (I’d guess some of both, and some individuals will get called in for both). It’s really a huge toss up!
Sorry for the very long (and late) answer, but hopefully it answers your questions! I know that’s a ton and the whole thing is confusing, so if there’s anything that needs clarification let me know and I’m happy to clear it up!

The last time I saw - Part 1
"Oh! My feet are killing me," I exclaimed, finally taking a moment to sit down after tending to the wedding guests and ensuring that the arrangements were going seamlessly. It was the first time I had sat down since arriving at the hall and taken a second to appreciate what was happening around me. The hall was grand, the tables were perfectly set up, and the flowers hung flawlessly from the ceiling and along the stairs on either side of the stage. People were chatting, eating, and having a good time, just like any other wedding. Finally, the wedding day had arrived, and while there was chaos, it was the perfect kind.
The bride and groom were dancing on the stage, smiling as they took pictures with the guests. I looked at them, especially the bride, my sister. She was wearing a red embroidered lengha (traditional wedding dress), authentic Pakistani jewelry, and beautifully designed henna. She wasn’t entirely happy with her outfit, but to me she looked ethereal. She seemed happy; however, I knew that she felt quite nervous for this new life journey.
Tumblr media

"You should leave now," my dad said.
"I'll leave in fifteen minutes," I replied.
It might seem strange to someone that my father asked me to leave during my sister's wedding, but he wanted to make sure I made my flight on time. The only condition for my attendance was that I would timely leave for the airport. Why did I have to leave? Because the wedding was in Pakistan, and I had to sit for an exam two days later in Canada. If I missed the exam then I would have to wait another year to take it, and the $10,000 international student fee I paid would go to waste. So, I had to leave the wedding to catch my flight, fly for 36 hours, and take my exam the day after I arrive.
All of this sounds too hectic and trust me it was. I even contemplated missing the wedding, but I felt too selfish doing that. It seemed as if I was abandoning my familial duties to fulfill my interests. More importantly, I wanted to be at the wedding because my sister has been there for me my entire life and now it was my turn. So, my family and I decided to have the wedding before I left.
My dad, who was looking at me, now sat next to me and held my hand. We said nothing and just sat in silence acknowledging that this is the last time we get to be together until I get done with my studies. I wondered what was going on in his mind but tried not to make it obvious. After a few minutes, I decided to go up to the stage and say goodbye to the couple.
As I approached them, I could see my sister’s eyes welling up. We just embraced each other for those few minutes. Neither of us were ready to let go since we knew that if we did things would never be the same. However, letting go was inevitable as time never stops and you constantly must keep up with it. As I was leaving the hall, I looked back at the stage, an image still vivid to me till this day because that was the last time, I saw my family.

Sitting on the plane, I wondered if it was worth it to sacrifice moments like these for a better future. Much time has passed, and I have gained much success in life, but it came at the cost of losing many precious moments with my family.

📂 for Juice having his first huge fight with his very new girlfriend (tinkering old lady territory already because he fell FAST) ?
Also very random but what kind of music do you think he listens to? I know he’s got the tattoo of all the rock sub-genres on his upper arm but I can’t imagine him actually listening to any of it. I feel like that was a flash sale design at the tattoo shop so he got it because it looked hardcore.
I see him more as a rap fan. Kid Cudi, Kanye, Wiz Khalifa, NWA, Jay Z, and Wu Tang Clan… His song for his girlfriend would be Cupid’s Chokehold by Gym Class Heroes… idk what’re you thoughts on all that?
My answer to the Juice music question is skewed because I've spent too much time listening to Theo Rossi's podcast and I totally project his musical interests onto the character. 😂 That being said, Juice being an old-school hip-hop and rap fan feels right. That's how I've always had him categorized in my head. I think he's really into the 90's and early 2000's rap scene. I agree with most the artists you listed. (I got personal icks about Kanye and I don't really know Wiz's music lol) I'd add Nas to the list too, maybe even Kendrick even though he's newer. It's hard for me to picture him listening to a lot of rock and actually enjoying it lol.
In terms of the fight with his old lady, oof. I feel like the first big fight would be rough because I think it would take a lot for the man to actually get into a big fight about something. He's such a people pleaser. Like, his partner would have to hit just the right nerve. And I think that if that happened it wouldn't be pretty.
I think that, honestly, I could easily picture the fight being about the whole culture that surrounds being an old lady for the club. I don't think that Juice actually gives a shit about that. He's just out here looking for someone to love him, you know? All the extra bullshit and misogyny isn't really his main concern, it's just part of being in the MC. (Which is a whole other discussion but that's not what this is about lol)
But I think that even if he doesn't really care about it, for the sake of being accepted by the club, he would still try to push it. He just wants to be doing things right in the eyes of his brothers and if that's what it takes, he'll do it. Which isn't going to fly with every woman.
I can picture the fight happening because he is being put in the position of potentially, to him, doing something wrong in the eyes of his brothers, or doing something wrong in the eyes of the woman that he cares about. And he doesn't really know what the right call to make there is. And the anger would be at her, sure, but it would also be at the club, and at himself. But he's gonna take it out on her and yell about it because she's the one who is there, and she's the one who is pressing the issue.
Juice has the biggest heart in the world but decision-making has never been his strong suit. And I can easily see that becoming the root of issues like that.

Just a cute highschool au for Silver. PT 2
Students, their powers and small blurb.
Amy Rose - Strength and Speed
Loves home ec class and science class. Hates history and music class (shes tone deaf). Amy has had messy emotions when it comes to several boys in school so she's trying to just focus on classes. Its... not easy.
Shadow the Hedgehog - Strength and Speed
Loves science class and gym class. Hates Literature class and art class. Shadow is Rouge's adoptive brother and he has a standing rivalry with Sonic. He also has a crush on Amy.
Rouge the Bat - Flying
She loves history and music class, though she tends to like music class because she likes to hear Knuckles play. Rouge teases her brother constantly.
Sonic the Hedgehog - Speed
Loves gym class. Doesn't take most other classes seriously. Though he likes the food Amy makes in Home Ec. He has a crush on Amy and Sally, often getting him the "two-timer" insult from Surge and Jet but only when Scourge isn't around.
Miles "Tails" Prowler - Flying
Loves science and math class, but overall is better at academics than other classes. Tails loves to fix things, to the point where he will often miss school if he is working on something.
Cream the Rabbit - Flying
Tends to struggle academically but it a wiz with literature. She also likes Home Ec because her mom teaches that class. Cream will occasionally be called a teachers pet because of her mother, but she hides it so Vanilla doesn't worry.
Sally Acorn - Strength
Sally is good at almost everything, the whole school tends to be envious of her. But she's under a lot of pressure from her family's high status so she always feels the need to be perfect. Sally tends to only act like herself around Sonic and Blaze. She is an avid reader and even dreams of being an author.
Blaze the Cat - Speed and Strength
Blaze, similarly to Sally, tends to feel pressured because of her status but she doesn't feel the need to be perfect and just acts like a normal teen. Blaze is the first person to reach out to Silver when he transfers because he seems a bit weird and that interests her.
Knuckles the Echindna- Strength and Flying Knuckles is a huge music fan and tends to spend most of his free time in the music room. But he's great at sciences! He loves the outdoors and during the summer does long camping sessions!
Kitsunami the Fennec - Flying
Kit is not a huge fan of school because at his last school he was seriously bullied. But once he met Surge and she stuck at his side, it hasn't happened since. He's very quiet but loves his gym class, as well as his science class.
Surge the Tenrec - Speed and Strength
Surge is at school mostly for her younger brother Kit. She is also apart of.. kind of a gang. They are distinct by putting green patches on their uniform. Surge likes to bully Sonic but she doesn't dare taunt sonic with Scourge around cause he's a bit of a playboy. Shes been punched one to many times to  deal with that. She is jealous of Sally and Blaze because of their "perfect lives" that are nothing like hers or Kits.
Jet the Hawk - Flying and Speed
Jet is the laid back student who really only cares about the social interactions with classes. But he has a secret fondness and fear of Amy.  He is apart of the gang with Scurge and Surge.
Scourge the Hedgehog - Speed
Scourge is highly jealous of his cousin Sonic, life going easy for him all the time. He tends to date around because of lack of attention at home. He causes problems in most classes except for art, cause he's been shown to have talent. He has flirted with all the girls, but most commonly goes after Amy to piss off Sonic.
And finalllyyyyy
Silver the Hedgehog - Strength and Flying
Silver having moved and recently transfered doesn't have a favorite class yet, but he usually like gym and science class. He actively hates art class and music class and he's not super great at those classes. He's actually more of a writer. Silver tends to be a bit of a clairvoyant and calls a lot of things before they actually happen, this catches Blaze's attention.
The next/last post will be things about the professors!!!

Fashion in Oz: the Good Witches (4)
Tumblr media
After the original illustrations of the books, and after the heritage of the MGM movie, let's look at another big part of the Good Witches history: the Wiz. And we will start with the Wiz's equivalent of the Good Witch of the North, Addapearl the "Feelgood Girl", in her original Broadway incarnation.  [Note: I am certain there are things to say about the history of Afro-American fashion and symbolism in the Wiz's outfits, but unfortunately I do not have such a knowledge, so I'll stay with a superficial analysis based on what I see].(Note: sometimes Addapearl is written Addaperl. I will stick with the first writing because it is the one I am the most familiar with.] Already as you can see, the main color of Addapearl is blue - her outfit is made of all sorts of blue nuances, from teal to dark blue passing by cerulean and others. This does make her match the Munchkins, who also correspond to the color blue - and overall, it is a color chosen due to how "soft" it is and it highlights her "good" nature. The outfit is actually made of a dress, with a petticoat on top, and then a sort of translucid shawl-like cloak, forming a translucent hood around the witch's wild hair (in the Wiz all the witches have wild, spiky hair) before falling behind her as a sort of cape. Note that this cloak actually has little shining stars in it. The petticoat and dress themselves is actually patchwork in style, with various patches of different colors added in a quite disorderly order - and I think this is meant to reflect Addapearl's very own character. She is, in Urban Dictionnary's words, "hysterically clumsy", a mix of sweetness and craziness, the kind of witch prone to "crash her bubble" - as we see in the play her "magic tricks" often fail, and her exhuberant stage-girl persona contrasts heavily with her lacking abilities, and this sort of crazy bubbly personality does fit this strange blue patchwork dress - which, if you notice, has actually white gloves sewn on the skirt, to add a bit of strangeness to it all. The white gloves notably answer several white mail-like pockets also present on the skirt. She usually also carries with her a blue handbag, with on it a white glove, crescent-moon and star, that you can see in this picture:
Tumblr media
If you want to see more of the costume, you can actually check the Smithsonian/National Museum of African-American History and Culture website, since the costume was kept as part of the "Black Fashion Museum". You have a detailled description here:

And some more pictures here: https://www.si.edu/object/costume-gown-petticoat-and-jacket-addaperle-wiz-broadway%3Anmaahc_2007.3.10
Tumblr media
After seeing Addapearle in the original "The Wiz" musical, we need to take a peek at the recent "The Wiz Live" revival of The Wiz, back in 2015. What is truly fascianting here is that they did a complete reversal of the original Addapearl costume. Instead of having a floor-length, big dress with a small petticoat, here we have a smaller dress stopping above the ankle, with a longer, "full" coat. And instead of having a weird, bizarre, patchwork of color patches and sewn gloves, adding a sort of crazy whimsical nature to the witch, here we have much more refined, beautiful and delicate embroidering, with golden motif, suns and flowers, overall a very high-quality, "rich" outfit, for a more... well for a younger and I guess more "peppy" and energetic witch, leaning more into the "stage girl" aspect of the character. A last interesting detail would the hair of the witch, who is here literally shaped like a small witch hat. And it is more than just evoking a witch hat with a swirl, no, they actually did the whole brim of the hat with the hair too, to the point I thought at first this Appadearl wore a small blue witch hat... before realizing it was her hair shaped like that through a series of braids.
Tumblr media
"The Wiz", the movie, changed a LOT of things from the original musical, and those numerous changes notably reflect heavily on the very design of the Good Witches. For example the character of the Good Witch of the North, who was completely reinvented for the movie. Out with Addapearl (or Addapearle, or Addaperl, nobody seems to agree on how the name is written), now we have "Miss One". Now several details are kept such as... well, the blue color for the witch - who is still associated and making one with the Munchkins, as Addapearl did in the original musical, and as MGM's Glinda will do too in the 2011 Wizard of Oz musical (there is this specific trend in musicals to have the "welcoming witch" of Oz be the same color as the Munchkins, and it is something that can raise some interesting topic about the link of the Good Witch of the North with the Eastern Munchkins, in the original canon vs popular culture). And we still find some of the discreet star motif of the original Addapearl, not on a shawl/cloak though, but here in the dress of the little old witch, which has stars and moon crescents woven into it (you might notice the "star and moon" pattern being a recurring thing with the Good Witches). It is especially interesting here since in the movie adaptation of the Wiz, both Good Witches are associated with the color blue and the star motif - but more on that with Glinda's breakdown. Beyond that, a lot was changed. Most notably is the fact that, while The Wiz was just about retelling The Wizard of Oz in a Black style, with Black actors and a certain Afro-American feel to it, "The Wiz" the movie decides to have the setting be specifically a reference to New-York, with Oz being a twisted and fantastical mirror of the Big Apple - as a result, the various characters have a more "urban" feel and Miss One here is based after... a "bag lady". And if you don't know what a "bag lady" is, it is a very common "type" of homeless people, a stereotype based on how often you see homeless women carrying around all of their belongings in an incredible number of cloth and plastic bags. And here, Miss One is a witch-version of this, carrying around an enormous amount of blue bags wherever she goes. The other main change to the character is the movie's addition that Miss One is a "math witch", obsessed with numbers - and so we find this in her very design. Around the collar of her dress, various numbers are embroidered. In her various bags, big 3D numbers can be seen popping out ; she carries around her neck an abacus/counting frame... And even more - in her curly, cloud-like gray hair, if you look carefully, you will see blue streaks of hair shaped like numbers. You can't see them very well here, but take a look at this picture and they'll become obvious:

When the Tony's get announced look for "Lempicka" to get more than a few nominations! In what is one of the best Broadway shows I have seen this spring, the musical has a little something for everyone at the Longacre Theatre. At times the show has a little glam, at times it is Bohemian, and at all times it is fast moving with a very good plot. As Tamara De Lempicka Eden Espinosa is flawless in her role; she commands the stage with her deft acting and singing.
Billed as a modern musical we immediately feel its effects with the brilliant modern set by Riccardo Hernandez, the erector set raw iron painted in black is both efficient and useful. Capturing the mood brilliantly is the lighting backstopped by Bradley King. Right in tune with the mood of this behemoth musical, King is magnificent with the choice of colors and how they set against the backdrop. Director Rachel Chavkin is keen on the different periods here, from the revolutionary war in Russia, the Bohemian lifestyle in Paris, the emotions between De Lempicka, her husband, her lover keeps it interesting in this two hour- fifteen minute gem!
Carson Kreitzer gives us the original concept as well as the book and lyrics. Matt Gould( book and music). The music is so complementary toward the story that it becomes deeply embedded in the plot.As the show touches on some very deep and disturbing issues, the audience is never drawn to deep into its macabre issues; rather, it is given to us in a skin surface way. Focusing more on the seedy part of Paris and the outcasts of society, one that Tamara embarrassed and her husband Tadeusz (Andrew Samonsky) hated.Whereas he came from royalty, Tamara was the daughter of a merchant Jew in Poland. When the revolution hits it is Tamara who scrubs floors to make ends meat in Paris. When she becomes a celebrated artist it is then that her husband begins to look for work.
As the show moves forward both Amber Iman as Rafaela and George Abud as Marinetti bring depth and edginess to this musical. Both believable and exquisite the two actors command their roles; they sing and dance to perfection. Raja Feather Kelly in the choreography here is simple but elegant. The same can be said for Paloma Young's costumes. Both Kelly and Young add supportable additions here but never too overstated.
"Lempicka" ebbs and flows with a wonderful nuance to the plot; it is a comfortable musical that deals with raw subject matter. Running the gamete of emotion, both the stars, the supporting cast as well as the ensemble casting bring us back in time to a period that is unsettled, where people do what they have to do to survive. It is a time through the early 20's till the mid 1970's when homosexuals, gypsy's and Jews had to keep out of sight or risk imprisonment, or death. As it is brilliantly directed and choreographed, it is highly recommended!
.......................................................................................................................
Next up is Suffs and Uncle Vanya. So far the spring season for the most part has been great! Starting with Doubt was better than expected; Water For Elephants was sensational; Enemy of The People was very good; the surprise so far was off Broadway with The Sign of The Times. Disappointing was Days of Wine And Roses, The Notebook, Tommy (not as good as in the 1990's), Cabaret (was to fluffy).
Looking towards Heart of Rock and Roll, Great Gatsby, Hells Kitchen and Home latter this season.
NY Times, Wall Street Journal, CNN, Fox News, www.broadwayworld.com, www.solar wind.org, Nimbus Magazine, Broadway Bob, Vocal Media, Broadway, Hamilton, The Lion King, Aladdin, Harry Potter, Cabaret, The Wiz, Tommy, Suffs, Outsiders, Hells Kitchen, Heart of Rock and Roll.

Hi! I'm glad to hear you're doing better and listening to music you enjoy. The last dinner party is on my list and 23 but Jimmy Eat World is the best song ever. I hope you loved it! I will add the last album to my list too. I was listening to some Grammy nominees this week like Janelle Monae.
Oh that sounds so good. I hope I love it and will try not to compare it to The Night Circus so much lol. I'm sure I will love both! They seem pretty different to me so that makes sense. Maybe I will read part of it this month taking my time with it so that's cool. But idk how much time I will have this month again, but I think things will be settled by next month. There's also the if he had been with me sequel I think out this week! I have not done my reread yet unfortunately though. that was my plan for February and focusing on two books to finish each month but I always read parts of other ones too so we will see.
The musical on Broadway was kinda bad mostly or that's what most people thought. I heard the London cast and show was actually way better but I never watched or listened to it. But Christian Borle was def the best part and I'm not even sure what you were referring to lol. The only song I remember is it must be believed to be seen. I wish Schmicago didn't get cancelled and I would have liked seeing what season 3 ended up as. I just think the show was kinda fun and understood paying respects and parodying musical theater..not unlike what I saw of Crazy exgf. The show was for theater people but didn't have to be only for theater people either to enjoy it. I just read that Hazbin Hotel, the new show, was one of the most watched shows though and I am interested in the show and how it could be a musical lol. I will definitely check it out soon since all the episodes are out now and let you know! I honestly forgot what musical albums were nominated for the Grammys. What ended up winning?
I hope so too! Actually I think the Wiz is here until the end of the month before going to Broadway and unfortunately I won't be able to go. Then next is Mean Girls but I also already saw the movie so idk when I will see a show again! I hope you can see one soon though! I still wanna watch the Waitress proshot too.
I partly agree that Cardigan deserved it for sure but I also enjoy Antihero and thought it could win but it didn't. I am so happy about most of the Grammy wins. Paramore won every award they were nominated for and Billie won for What Was I Made For, but I was sad for Olivia and Noah. I didn't love Taylors dress honestly and preferred the Globes look, but that's not important. I can't believe she made history last night which was only one big shock of the night! Lol I will send all of my thoughts about the brand NEW album in another ask!
hi hi friend!! 🤍 i have to go back and finish listening to the rest of the grammy noms; i had every intention of doing so and then ... just never did. i hope things are more settled for you soon; you'll have to keep me posted on what you think of all the things!
i loved crazy ex-girlfriend when it was airing, but i very rarely find myself going back to relisten to their soundtracks — but i do go back and listen to SMASH's songs all the time! some like it hot ended up winning, which is fine with me — i don't know much about that show, but there was one show in particular i didn't really care for and didn't reallllly want to win haha! tickets for the company tour actually just went on presale here in seattle, and i'm trying to figure out if i want to go or not, which is crazy because i loveeee company and it was one of the only things i was looking forward to last season but now i'm like :/ i do not know if i care enough to go :/ for the prices they're selling tickets at. i might try my hand at lotto, but ...
i also didn't love taylor's look last night! i think her hair + the styling of it all was just ... a little odd. but i haven't really liked a lot of taylor's looks lately :( 🤍
