Tumblr media Tumblr media
BROTHER AND SISTER OF ALL TIME THEYRE SO CUTE <3 love seeing how their relationship has progressed from beako literally throwing him out a window for stuff like this to her happily playing along its so so so so so cute. genuinely just one of the cutest and sweetest dynamics in the series
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
JOSHUA REAL!!!!! but not for long (also otto in the bg foreshadowing all the drinking hes about to do this arc. hes so stressed. poor emilia is trying her best)
Tumblr media
julius looks so babyfaced here? they really emphasized his long eyelashes just like subaru has been on about every time he mentions him. they better include the scene where he checks him out, like, if they dont animate subaru looking dead at this mans ass im going to riot
Tumblr media
i LOVE this shot of ana. you can really tell shes up to some corrupt capitalist bullshit as we speak. love her for that. wish i had this pic when i made that one money game anastasia video
Tumblr media
the red dress actually does look really good on crusch like it compliments the green hair really well but also the crusch we know would not walk around in such a thing so its like. damn looks like the "memories are an important part of identity" story thinks memories are an important part of identity. who knew.
Tumblr media
ALSO LOVE FELTS NEW LOOK SO MUCH! the only complaint is i felt (felt lol) like the red brought out her eyes more but the blue also looks cool. three primary colors all being used looks nice too
Tumblr media
whatever who cares about all that THE CUNT!!!!!!! THE CUNT IS HERE!!! I CANNOT WAIT FOR ALL THE DRAMA SHE CAUSES TO BE ANIMATED FOR REAL
Tumblr media
no fucking way... did they actually...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
THEY DID! THEY CENSORED THAT HORRIBLE FUCKING DESIGN OH MY GOD. SHES WEARING SHORTS AND JUST A CROPPED SHIRT. AND CHAPS I GUESS? BUT ALSO A LITTLE SKIRT CAPE SO NO ASS SHOTS... THIS WILL MAKE WATCHING THE SEASON SO MUCH MORE TOLERABLE. i mean not perfect but STILL.
Tumblr media
photos taken seconds before disaster lmfao. i still love how chin thinks subaru is a freak and weirdo for being so buddy buddy with him after he and his buddies mugged him. twice. (even more times from subarus perspective. hell he stabbed subaru once) genuinely cant wait to see more of this dynamic its so stupid.
Tumblr media
THE FUCKING CUNT!!!!!! also the apples lol
Tumblr media
oh you poor thing. you have no idea what next level family drama bullshit awaits. good luck. get ready to kill grandma AGIAN lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media
:'( emilia still misses her terrible cat dad and its kinda sad when you know were not getting a resolution on that here either. they both look so sad :(
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i cannot wait for garf mommy issues round fucking 2.
Tumblr media
THIS CRAZY BITCH!!! I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE THIS CRAZY BITCH ANIMATED. I CANT WAIT TO SEE HOW THEYRE PORTRAY HER MANNERISMS. ESP W HOW WILD PETELGEUSE WAS ANIMATED IN S1. REAL LOONY TOONS BULLSHIT. AND HER POWERS ARE ALSO SOOOOOO MUCH COOLER I CANT WAIT

Tumblr media
he fucking bit it. yeah i guess thats what dogs do tho.
Tumblr media
YOU. DIVORCE MAN. KILL YOURSELF. SLASH SERIOUS.
Tumblr media
the empathy powers will have a glowing eye effect. very cool but i hope they dont show it too much in the first scene bc like in the LN i think its cooler if you dont know why everything is so... Wrong.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i dont rly have anything to say i just think ferris looks cool covered in blood. imagine being healed here like doctor catgirl will see you now
Tumblr media
emilia be nice. that crazy bitch might be your mom. just like how the previous crazy bitch was in fact your dad.
Tumblr media
THEY CHANGED UP CAPELLA'S DESIGN TOO honestly tho her being sexualized makes sense w a lot of the themes (the way its intentionally meant to be perverse and gross in a way explicitly stated) so i didnt mind as much and she still IS here but. this is still an improvement imo just a better outfit looks cooler. bug.
Tumblr media
NAUR I DONT WANNA WAIT... OCTOBER.... AUGH

why the emilia camp thinks otto is their most threatening member 👍
i see some people being confused on why the emilia camp collectively seems to agree that otto is the biggest threat there for some reason and like. yeah. i get it.
but let me explain real quick why i think it makes sense for the emilia camp to think that :O !!
otto though is disarming because. well okay look at him he doesnt look threatening at all. he has the looks and personality of a wet cat. hes whiny. hes cringe fail. he gets stressed out with paperwork. he looks like you could just smack him around like a bug. he HAS been smacked around like a bug. but that makes him unpredictable because apart from roswaal, he is the Most Amoral one there. you can expect roswaal to be trying some shit, but youd never know when to expect otto is planning something. his moral compass is just “does this benefit me or my loved ones in some way? if not, then its gonna be gone 🥺”.
sure, he does nice things sometimes out of the goodness of his heart. he genuinely means well a lot of the time.
but also then you read the shit hes thinking in his internal dialogue and its like.
“should i go save some girl i dont even know from bandits??? hmm lemme think for a couple minutes. im the only one that can help rn… some guy claiming to be her dad is begging me to help his daughter, but also hes kind of annoying… but i dont even live in this city so why should i help… or Care. actually. but i feel kinda bad about this girl… but also this is gonna put me and my profits in danger… but if i reject helping then im forever gonna be known as the guy who abandoned them and then i wont be able to make any sales in this city anymore :<<<< ……anyway im gonna help them then lol im so smart.” and then he gets captured by the exact same bandits anyway so hes like “well okay now me and this girl might be sold into slavery so i might as well save both of us or ill feel bad ☝️☝️”
(yes. yes this is genuinely ottos thought process if you read through the Otto's Bittersweet Peddling Log side story.)
except all the back and forth Calculation he does in his head Stays In His Head and doesnt match up with his outward appearance most of the time. which means that sometimes his words dont match up with his actions. “dont be surprised if i leave at the first sign of danger,” he says, right after risking his life and writing a suicide note over a dude hes known for like four days. “ahah thanks for giving me a vacation to see my family…” he says, damn well knowing he cant go back home yet otherwise he’ll get sniped by assassins. “im gonna give you some of my own money bounty money to help you BUT BUT BUT DONT THINK THAT IM NICE OR ANYTHING I NEED MOST OF THE MONEY FOR REPAIRS OK YOU CAN ONLY HAVE A BIT :<<<“
this also means that whenever otto says or does something Particularly Questionable, all his friends are still kinda blindsided by it because otherwise otto seems Mostly Fine in comparison to whatever the hell everyone else has going on. hes just a wet pathetic cat of a guy ahah. theres nothing more going on with h—
“if everyone in vollachia dies but rem and natsuki-san live, then we’ve won. if everyone in vollachia lives but rem and natsuki-san die, then we’ve lost.”
um otto can you repeat that. what the fuck did you just say.
otto looks Mostly Normal, Just Stressed Out or Somewhat Chilling the vast majority of the time, and then he whacks you over the head with a steel chair. like can you imagine being garfiel and learning that this pathetic rag of a man is actually pretty brave when it counts. youre like “oh cool lol we kinda beat each others asses and i was Annoyed but now that thats all over i got some newfound respect for you!!” and then you read through his diary and hes got a suicide note in there, which is like. okay fine whatever hes kind of a clown just like my New Captain lol but hes dedicated to his friends, ill give him that. and then a year later you find your now brother figure (whos also lowkey highkey an alcoholic) with a broken hand after punching a wall because he couldnt do his Lets Abandon 50 Million People Plan and youre just sitting there going
Tumblr media
and okay dont get me wrong—subaru is Batshit Crazy. in Multiple Incomprehensible Ways. if the emilia camp (or Anyone. At All.) knew about all the shit hes done and been through with rbd, subaru would INSTANTLY be skyrocketing up the Most Threatening People list. but at the same time subarus less threatening than otto in the sense that subarus Always going to want to do good. hes Always going to want to save everyone. hes Extremely forgiving, on top of that. he goes along picking up friends everywhere he goes in his own Incomprehensible Unhinged Way and hes fond of All of them.
otto? yeah his opinion of you could shift on a dime and you could end up in his personal shit list unless youre one of the *checks list* *clears throat* maybe like ten people he cares about. and even if youre on the I Care About You! :) list, he could still get pissed enough at you to, i dont know, punch a wall over you? and spiral into obsession? and even if hes not upset at you hes still gonna mansplain manipulate malewife his way to his goals <33
and yeah of course subaru is also Mansplain Manipulate and Gaslight Gatekeep but at least he has way more good intentions AND his attitude about it is gonna be like "sorry :<<< i just gotta do this for your sake :<<<<<< :((( haha dont worry about it". subaru would never ever want to do anything big to hurt his loved ones (except for rbd). while otto doesnt even bat an eye. everyone can be manipulated if he has to. he goes down his list of Things I Need To Do and goes "yeah that had to be done. oh well. anyway i got more shit to do (like maybe kill a toddler lol)"
also lets talk about roswaal's perspective really quick. post-arc 4 hes like "well subaru-kun is always gonna want to save everyone and hes doing a pretty good job of things in general so whatever lol. i can still keep him in check by killing everyone if even one of his friends dies :)". so its like. YEAH subarus an Unhinged Wildcard. roswaal knows that. but right now subaru is more predictable and also again, roswaal knows he can keep subaru in check by making subaru have to reset if roswaal really needs to.
but otto? yeah ottos second in line for being an Unhinged Wildcard. but whats even worse is that otto is Basically Subaru but More Calculating and with a moral backbone thats Near Nonexistent. roswaal was genuinely concerned for otto in arc 8 for once and there was still Literally No Stopping Otto from being a stubborn little shit whos hell bent on all the maladjusted insane mentalities hes got floating around in his head, half of which he doesnt even say out loud, and all of which he thinks is Completely Right and that theres Nothing Wrong with what hes doing.
and also otto being underestimated and Not In The Tome was a big help as to how subaru got the win over roswaal in arc 4 👍and then otto Continues to try keeping an eye on roswaal after arc 4, to the point of getting roswaal's tome and actively trying to investigate roswaal's actions, so roswaal is Very Aware that otto is. a bit of a threat. roswaal of course is smarter and more powerful than otto though, but that still doesnt change the fact that otto is still capable of being a threat if roswaal doesnt Also kind of keep an eye on otto back. because roswaal kind of lost to otto already in arc 4!!
but okay, on top of all of this, no one knows the full extent of whats going on with otto, not even roswaal (though he has his Suspicions), and most definitely not subaru yet (whos Still a bit of an otto apologist anyway), and otto is already a bit menacing even without knowing All of that. and the rest of the emilia camp are already a bit more lenient with roswaal (as hes seemingly chilled out after arc 4 + they all need him still). that, and you can easily Expect roswaal post-arc 4 to be suspicious and Probably up to something. you wont know what it is, but you wont Exactly be surprised when it happens.
and also roswaal isnt publicly batshit crazy like otto is. otto of course isnt as Openly Weird as subaru, but otto is still Openly Unhinged and Pathetic. just look at him declaring julius and anastasia, HIS CAMP'S ALLIES, as enemies right to their faces alsdfjlsdjfl.
and with subaru, there is Zero doubt in the emilia camp's minds that subaru wants the best for them and everyone around them.
otto though? yeah he also wants whats best for the camp. he Cares about them, he really does. but hes so obviously Questionable by the time you get to arc 8 to the point where the entire rest of the camp starts eyeing him like this:
Tumblr media
theres also the fact that ottos dp allows him to have eyes and ears Everywhere so long as he doesnt overuse it. that paired with his Intelligence, Stubbornness, and Lack of Morals or self-awareness/sometimes guilt/regret over his actions is dangerous. theres a reason why gluttony if subaru decided to flood The Entire Surrounding Area Around Otto. the flood took away the potential army otto couldve made out of the animals and allies otto had in the city, and once you do that, whats otto going to do against someone like shaula? all of ottos power regarding his People Skills and Animal DP was stripped away.
but if that Isnt stripped away... well honestly otto can do whatever the hell he wants the moment he figures out a solid plan to try and get what he wants. his biggest ability at the core of what makes him dangerous is his ability to quite Literally be in the background. so long as hes underestimated, so long as he still has secrets, no ones gonna know the full extent of his bullshit!! you cant stop him if you dont even realize what hes going to do, and hes Good at doing that!!
and if gluttonybaru hadnt taken out otto, subaru would be skyrocketing right to the top of ottos shit list after subaru literally just killed All of ottos (and previously subarus.) loved ones. otto wouldnt stop until he figured out how to destroy subaru. its to the point where im pretty sure if otto had to choose between destroying half the world vs kill gluttonybaru once and for all, otto would certainly choose one of those options in a Heartbeat.
anyway. if youre an emilia camp member, and you see the dude whos in charge of the Vast Majority of the factions political affairs, the guy who you Know is very intelligent and competent and determined when it counts, say shit like "if everyone dies in this entire country i wouldnt even give a single flying fuck as long as our friends get back safe and sound :) it would be such a loss if the entire country lived but our friends didnt :<<<" OF COURSE I WOULD BE LIKE YEAH THAT GUY IS THE MOST DANGEROUS ONE HERE. HE HAS THE SKILLS AND THE MOTIVATION TO BACK UP THAT STATEMENT AND I WONT EVEN KNOW WHEN ITD HAPPEN. he also has the Mental Instability to back that up too, given the amount of times he spends drinking and Raging and Being Terribly Anxious over Every Little Thing.
youll be sweating buckets being wary of otto while ottos casually standing there with his wet cat looks and a knife in your back.
and otto has, for the most part, some of the most normal trauma compared to a bunch of people in this cast (not to discount ottos trauma and pain or anything but its true lajdsfls sorry otto. but also im not sorry because arc 5 was partially on you T^T). he doesnt have rbd, he doesnt have some weird family drama bullshit going on like the astreas or emilias family or the segmunts, he hasnt been erased by gluttony, etc etc. but hes still like this. if you put him in subarus position and gave him rbd, he would get even worse than he already is.
yeah so anyway thats my quick rambley psa about why i think it makes sense that the emilia camp's voted otto as the most threatening one there 👍
but the fact that we (the audience) (or at least some of us!!) keep questioning why the hell the emilia camp thinks otto is the biggest threat there is means that otto's funny silly guy image is. Kind of Working??? just a little bit.
because. granted. of course i think subaru is easily the most threatening person there with both His Flavor of Insanity and rbd. subaru is an eldritch horror in every single way. but at the same time - hes an eldritch horror who thinks friendship is the best magic of all T^TT !!! he FORGIVES PEOPLE WHO'VE KILLED AND TORTURED HIM. hes not threatening in this sense - the fact that hes kind of just way too nice in this sense!!! granted yes, he IS abusing rbd and Terrifying and Threatening in a multitude of ways, but i'd rather take my chances with mainbaru over main otto right now HAH T^TT at least subaru will apologize and start bawling his eyes out if he stabs some random innocent civilian and stranger in the gut for Some Necessary Reason!! otto would feel a bit bad and then completely Eradicate that feeling of guilt with "i had to do it. it was them or me so no regrets <3".
because otto..................... yeah otto is the Worlds Most Pathetic Yandere to his whole camp.

waterparks // rock sound awards 2021
(full text under the cut)
WATERPARKS
CLASS OF 2021 ARTIST OF THE YEAR
WORDS: JAMES WILSON-TAYLOR PHOTOS: JAWN ROCHA
Another album, another lap around the world…another year that very much felt like it belonged to Waterparks. Their exponential growth continued this year with a new label deal and their latest and absolutely greatest record.
They began 2021 in isolation putting the finishing touches to 'Greatest Hits', and end it off the back of a triumphant, huge North American tour, by way of big, big festival slots and the realisation of more ideas than even they might have thought possible.
Here, Awsten Knight looks back on the journey he and his bandmates Geoff Wigington and Otto Wood have been on over the past 12 months, and faces towards the future.
How has your 2021 been, Awsten? It seems like a lot of bands have understandably found this year to be way more productive than last…
"It's better, but it's been equally productive. In 2020 I still made over 100 songs. Still recorded all of 'Greatest Hits'—it was pretty much done by January—made the DVD, 'FANDOM: LIVE IN THE UK'… that took like, five or six months. Yeah, 2020 was still super productive and then obviously this year…album release, making a million more videos, playing shows. That's why I say it's equal."
Was there any transitional period for you, or were you just straight into work mode?
"It never stopped. And I'm not saying this is necessarily a good thing, but I just can't stop working. It's very hard for me to stop. Sometimes I actively try to just because, but I feel like I just operate better if I'm working on things. The thing is, at least if we are out doing shows, I'm not writing songs because of it. But last year I didn't have an excuse."
'Greatest Hits' was of course released this year. You've talked before about wanting to better yourself with each album, but what's interesting is it feels like the leaps between each record are now getting bigger too…
"I'm very about smooth transitions between stylistic stages. It feels very inorganic if somebody has screamo, alternative rock and then they try and go full pop. It's like you didn't do it naturally, so it feels disingenuous. I also think that I was more impatient being stuck at home. And on top of that, since I had more time to create and just make weird sounds and demo things out, I got to learn a lot and hit a lot of things that I wouldn't have necessarily found so soon. So I think it's a combination of those things. This gave a lot of time for me to find the most weird, left of centre, out of pocket stuff. I can't tell you how many Halloween sounds I went through making 'See You In The Future'. Sorry, 'See You In In The Future."
It's funny hearing you talk about acts earning that change in sound. It's like you are world-building but it's about the musical sounds rather than characters or stories…
"Yeah, and wanting to make as many different styles as you can. Because when it stops being fun or fresh or exciting, I don't wanna do it. Touring itself is very fun and rewarding, but it can also get monotonous. So if you are not pushing the boundaries everywhere you can, whether its sonically or show production or whatever… I mean, you see how easily I get distracted. I won't want to do it if it's not fun. You know who has got the best transition between that I think I've ever seen? Like, as far as musical styles go as a band? Bring Me The Horizon. I know where they started and watching them go to 'That's The Spirit' and even the stuff they are putting out right now… it changes style-wise so much. Not only is it consistent, but it changes and I think thats awesome. Not a lot of bands are willing to do that in case it feels like they are putting on somebody else's clothes. But they've done it in a very smooth way."
"WHEN IT STOPS BEING FUN OR FRESH OR EXCITING, I DON'T WANNA DO IT"
"I THINK BEING ALONE ALL THE TIME MADE ME WANT TO COLLABORATE MORE…"
Was there anything specific on 'FANDOM' that you wanted to improve on or push further this time around?
"I don't wanna compare songs especially because if you compare old things to new things, just because of how nostalgia works, it'll never compare until more time has gone by. But if I can sit down and look at 'Numb' vs 'Watch What Happens Next… They're both cool, they both have interesting pre-choruses in very different ways. One of them is more drawly, very minimal and then the other is a little hip-hoppy but more in a Beastie Boys kind of way. Then that outro is from hell, just crazy. I love the vocal patterns in it, in the b-section. And then I'll look at 'Watch What Happens Next' and compare those patterns. I look at things like that. What stuff got added in that's special? What are the special elements that aren't just guitar, bass, drums? I compare stuff like that a lot. Some songs are written where it's like, 'This one will have a pit'. Some songs it's like, 'This is for people who don't even fuck with us, but it has such a groove'. Or, 'This one is a dark 'Life Of Pablo'-type production that's dark and evil but expensive-sounding'. There's just certain things I wanted to accomplish and especially at that time, during recording, being stuck at home, I needed to do what's going to make me feel fulfilled right now."
You seem to be in a very collaborative mood too with the guests on the album and then things outside the album like the track you did with DE'WAYNE. Is that collaborative spirit something you are becoming more open to?
"Yes, definitely. I think being alone all the time made me want to collaborate more. And then also I feel like, and I hope this comes off okay… as good as I feel like I am at writing and production and finding creative ways to do things, I know that other people are so much better than me at other things. I don't wanna be the fucking best in the room at everything, because then why am I in this room? When I gave 'Crying Over It All' to Zeph, I didn't give very much instruction. I was like, 'Just add harmonies, do your thing, pretty freeform, just go for it'. Because when I listen to her stuff, she'd always send me demos or even on her Instagram stories she'll post the acapellas of stuff she is working on. There's like twenty layers of vocals and they are doing these random swells and all this cool shit and I'm just like, 'Woah, that's insane'. So when she sent back all of the vocals for that, it was the same kind of thing. And that's not something I would have thought of. It's no longer me sitting at this desk right here working on 'Double Dare' or 'Entertainment. I think you can only go so far alone and if you happen to have friends and people you like around you who are incredible at other things, I don't see why you wouldn't collab with them. At the end of the day, all I want is the best album in the world."
It felt like that spirit of collaboration had disappeared in the scene for a while but is now coming back around again, which is great because, like you say, everyone benefits from that…
"Yeah that's totally true. And at least for me, I felt like I had something to prove, especially early on. Because we did… we had a lot to prove. But I think, maybe in an ego sense, or I don't know what it was, but I took a lot of pride in it. We'd meet people in other bands who were bigger than us and they'd go, 'Is it true that you had no co-writes or people working on this or anything?' But in the grand scheme of things, we're not shit. In the world of music, most people don't even know we exist. But I feel like that thing - that weird alternative music mindset. Some, 'Us against the world, got to prove yourself' type of shit - I don't really have that anymore. And I'm glad, because it's not productive, it's not helpful, it's not gonna make you have a better album. I feel like alternative music, as stubborn as everybody is, I think they are probably seeing how good collabs are in hip-hop, or how Spotify works and are like, 'Oh shit, we should do that"." You've always talked about personal stuff within your lyrics but it feels like on 'Greatest Hits', you were a lot more open and direct.
What do you think has changed in your approach to lyrics?
"I think there's multiple reasons for it. I think most people just don't look that deep into stuff and I want them to know what I'm talking about. 'Entertainment… that whole fucking album is metaphors. The whole thing. And I think with stuff like 'Turbulent', that was in a way more cathartic. This isn't an objective truth or anything, this is just for me, but I think it's more cathartic to be blunt. And thats not to say metaphors or keeping things poetic isn't good. I want to still use metaphors, part of me wants to lean a little more on that. There's just something very cathartic about just saying it. 'LIKE IT'… just getting to talk shit for verses and I had even more verses written but I just wanted it to be like a punk song. A very grungy, punk kind of thing. It was just more of a release. People that are very into the band will look more deep into things but sometimes I just want someone who hears ten seconds on Tik Tok to know what the fuck I'm talking about. Lyrically, I didn't want to waste any time, I just wanted to get to it."
'Double Dare' celebrated its fifth anniversary this year. Is there anything about the creative process back then that still applies to how you work now?
"Honestly, it's the same. Sit down, laptop, guitar, keyboard, bass, mic. Shut everything out, start making shit. What is made has changed, but the process is the same."
Is there anything you wish you knew back then that you know now?
"All I would do if I could go back is just give them a mixing budget. Because I wouldn't change anything. I like some of the songs more than others but I still think they should all exist. We made the whole album for like, $10,000. Some people might hear that and think it's a lot, but it's not. For making an album, especially on a label, thats nothing. If we could get a Zakk Cervini mix, like a remix…"
When it came to the live show, this tour seems to match this new era in feel. How did you approach bringing 'Greatest Hits' to the stage?
"We went through a lot of different stages with the production. This was the first idea - I want it to make it look like thunder if we want to, make it really dark and moody, no lights around us just silhouettes and bits of lightning, because it's just a full cloud wall, so we can be in a storm like we are going to die or it can glow gold like we are in heaven, or like a sunset. Somebody actually asked me at a Q&A the other day about the symbolism of the doors onstage and I think being in my apartment so much for that long, I was always just looking at them. It felt right to bring the three doors hovering in the clouds. We had the red, yellow and blue bikes because that was my only escape during it. I could come up with crazy production all day, but you also have to take into consideration the rooms you are doing. Is it indoor, outdoor, 500 people, 2,000 people…You base these things on that. What can work in different ways. I think it's the most fitting and conceptually it's probably the best pairing we could have had visually with this album. But some day I think it would be so cool, when we get to do those fucking arena shows, to collab with someone who has done it a million times. The first time or two around, you don't understand the capabilities of what can and can't be done. You don't know what your limits are, so you just kind of be safe. So I'm excited to eventually start collabing with someone on that."
As things get bigger, it feels like the rooms are starting to match your ambition. Is there a pressure to scale things up?
"There's not really a pressure. I just don't think about it like that. The other night, and this hasn't happened in forever, but right before going on I had this weird moment where I felt like I'd re-entered my body. They were already playing 'Greatest Hits' and the first song is about to start and I felt like I'd re-entered. I glanced at the audience and thought, 'Oh god'. Fucking freaked out. Like, 'What the fuck am I doing?' I say that because the best thing you can do is not think. If you just show up and do it, cool shit gets done. If you think about it, if you analyse it, you psych yourself out."
"I NEEDED TO DO WHAT'S GOING TO MAKE ME FEEL FULFILLED RIGHT NOW"
"SOMETIMES I JUST WANT SOMEONE WHO HEARS TEN SECONDS ON TIKTOK TO KNOW WHAT THE FUCK I'M TALKING ABOUT"
It was also great to see you be joined again by Mikey Way during this tour…
"I know man, that was so cool. We're always talking about when we can do stuff because he loves playing shows and he fucks with Waterparks and stuff which is so crazy. I was in Nashville a month before the tour and we hung out and got dinner, and he's like, 'Dude, I wanna play one of these shows'. And he's gonna be in Nashville so I'm like, 'How about Nashville? And anything else you wanna do'. And he's like, 'Definitely Nashville and I'd love to do more'. I was like, 'You let me know what you wanna play and we'll switch up the set after'. That was so fun. He is one of the nicest fucking people in this world. He's in the biggest rock band in the world and does not act like it. He's so humble and so nice. He's just a good dude."
Looking forward, what do you think are the biggest things you learned in the process of making 'Greatest Hits"?
"I definitely don't wanna talk too much, especially as I don't know way too much, but I think that the one drawback that I've had with 'Greatest Hits'… it's not even a drawback with 'Greatest Hits', it's just the way in which it was consumed. I think that because it's so long, and not even long runtime wise… It's just that 17 tracks is intimidating to some, especially if you are not a diehard listener. I think some songs got overlooked, or under-appreciated. There are certain ones where I wonder how long it's gonna stay underrated. The production on 'See You In The Future' is fucking insane but its not even in the top seven of the most listened to. Or 'Magnetic'. Or 'Crying Over It All' is I think one of the best songs Waterparks has ever put out. They just get overlooked. 'American Graffiti', I kind of made that song as I was frustrated one night at how dogshit a lot of alt rock stuff that was coming out at the time was. I was just like, 'This is so uninspired, I'm just gonna make the way fucking cooler version of what these people are trying to do. I'm gonna do the perfect mix of Jimmy Eat World and Death Cab and all these people. And then just throw in some real wild production'. That outro is so fucking pretty. I feel like a lot of those get overlooked because theres so much. And there's a lot we can't put in the set because it's literally 17 songs. We're already playing for an hour and a half every night, which is a lot. We're not playing six of the songs because theres not even time. What I'm getting at is, the next album will probably be more…I don't wanna say concise, because it's not like 'Greatest Hits' isn't. It definitely goes on more tangents because that was the point. But it'll probably be shorter."
It certainly feels like alt.rock is the place where the album is king. In hip-hop you can release singles all the time, EPs, whatever you want. Is that something you've thought about in terms of release structure?
"I'm cool with singles. I don't really wanna do EPs anymore. Mainly because I'd rather just do four singles or release them as a pair. Because then if somebody hates one, they'll probably like the other. But I think that I would probably just do singles or pairings then drop another album."
What is on the to-do list for 2022?
"We are coming to Europe. We've got some more shows that we are gonna announce soon. Some places we've never been before. We've locked in support, haven't announced it yet but its gonna be very cool. We're playing that London show—insane. I wish I could say more. It's gonna be a good year."
Waterparks' latest album 'Greatest Hits' is out now via 300 Entertainment. They're due to tour the UK next summer.

Pirate Au: Drinking
It was a windy night on the sea, the calm kinda wind that makes you feel at ease. The sound of hollering and cheers could be heard through the bay. The lights shining off of the water a warm tint of yellow created by the lanterns. People laughed, telling stories of what they’ve seen, spilling secrets, cheers of when one of the members of the ship would chug their rum. Two pirate ships anchored next to each other.
Two navigators sitting next to each other with a wooden cup of rum in each of their hands. Talking about their captains. Zenix the Navigator for the Odd One’s pirates laughing about a memory, The other Navigator, Felix , from the Corrupted kingdom pirates was sharing his memories and laughs. The two navigators seemed to be getting along. They had practically becoming drinking buddies at first sight. Felix let out a sudden yelp as his head was pulled back, he looked down to see a short person was holding his back braid in their hand. The person did in-fact look a tiny but mad but more curious than anything. Felix just reacted with a soft smile and turned back towards Zenix. “Who is that?” Felix asked. “Oh, thats pip, they were a crew member before me” Felix still look confused “and I don’t know why they are small either” Felix nodded a tried to take another drink once again getting his hair pulled, by the time he went to look behind him pip was gone. Felix turned back towards Zenix now seeing that Zenix had pip wrapped around his leg. Pip looked upset.
There was hollering, lots of it but everyone kinda drowned it out with the alcohol in their system. Charles was talking to the other captain. Charles eye got distracted by the event stirred up in the back of the ship, Felix looked very confused and Zenix looked concerned. “What the hell did Felix do now?” “Huh?” Replied Otto. He used his hand with the alcohol in that hand and lifted it only using his pointer finger and keeping all his other fingers gripped onto the bottle. Otto’s sight follow the finger to the direction of the scene. Kinda concerned due to that fact that the event involved his navigator. With a sigh Otto slowly got up and walk over to the situation only to see Pip clinging to Zenix’s leg and glaring at Felix. “Pip whats wrong?” The Captain spoke. Pip seemed to get quiet looking like they wanted to say something but soon shook their head and let go of Zenix’s leg going over to Otto pulling him down whispering to the captain “Felix was getting too comfortable with Zenix, so I though I should stop it because Zenix is your man” Pip looked so proud of themselves. Otto realized what was going on and had to explain to Pip they were just drunk. Pip froze and had a confused look, then looked back at them and realized that they were in fact drunk.
Two scholars were talking, one was Tracy from the Odds Ones Pirates, the other was Bondewijn from the Corrupted Kingdom pirates. Tracy and Bondewijn were both sharing stories of what they have recorded and the historical objects they have found. They didn’t really seem like the drinking type. Scholars too focused in their studies to let loose once and in awhile. The other pirates were in fact drinking and half of them probably already drunk some almost black-out drunk.
Pip looked like they had no interest in talking to other cook, because the other cook was in-fact a stranger. Bastion, the cook for Corrupted kingdom pirates. He kinda seemed intimidating, he was 5,10 ft talk, Dark purple hair, pale skin with light colored freckles, and eye patch covering his right eye. He had blue vibrant blue eyes and was wearing a grayish dark purple shirt with a dark purple scarf wrapped around his waist and pants tucked into boots. He had a serious look on his face, he was looking at Terrance the swordsman for the Corrupted Kingdom pirates.
Pip had no interest in the swordsman or the other cook, Pip just wanted to be quiet and be alone. Pip did notice that the good that was made was really good, they were wondering it the other cook made it. “Hey, I noticed you seem to be enjoying the food, if you want I can give you a few pointers on want I did. You know to pass time with this gathering. Your the other cook right? For the Odd One pirates?” Pip nodded to the last two questions “I would like some pointers, how did you know that information about me?” Bastion cracked a smile “I talked to your crews Navigator, Zenix” and the conversation continued on mostly about cooking.
The Captain had been acting very weird by the end of the night he seemed very distant from his crew, especially Zenix, he had recently throughout the past couple of weeks been avoiding his navigator the most, Zenix could tell something was on his mind and Zenix noticed that they had not been spending any time together. Zenix had been wondering if the captain had been getting tired of the pirate life been getting tired of him. He pushed those thoughts away and continued on in the night thinking it was just him over thinking.

may i request you elaborate more about no way home? spoilers and all
sure yeah
like i said for the first hour or so the movie is lame far from home peter whining about his misfortune of being a hero. he and his friends cant get into college because hes too controversial as spiderman now. it continues this theme from far from home where peter wants his cake and to eat it too, he wants to have his perfect normal kid life and also be spiderman. thats nothing especially new to peter parker in general other than that most versions of peter understand that its just not possible and spidey is more important. at this go around he isnt trying to actively get out of hero work so he can go on his fucking lame field trip.
this part of the plot drags on a little too long but is very quickly dropped entirely when otto and the others show up. honestly basically the entire first act of the movie is them trying to deal with the fallout from the last movie which is not really a good way to construct a film.
which is why its a miracle that the second and third acts bring the actual story to the forefront and get to work making things right. this movie FINALLY sees mcu peter doing what any good peter should be doing. struggling to save the lives of his rouges gallery. to "fix them" as the movie so crassly puts it over and over. once again peter has to be basically roped into doing something morally fucking decent for once in his godforsaken life because despite having several adventures under his belt at this point he has still failed utterly to learn basic compassion because he spent all of that time idolizing tony fucking stark. but when he finally commits to it thats when things really start to get real. fighting and beating strange for the sake of villains destined to die, choosing the hardest path because its the right thing to do. thats fucking spiderman. it sucks that he had to be strongarmed into it by may who rightfully calls him out for being selfish but it serves a purpose which was quite surprising to me. after spending far from home being a selfish little cunt who only stepped in when he was being coerced or when he was forced to clean up a mess his selfishness caused it was refreshing to see peter parker act like peter fucking parker.
i dont have a good segue here but i want to talk about ol norman. gobby in this movie is incredible. they really did capture the way his dynamic worked in the original 2002 spider-man and implanted him so so well against mcu peter. no more peter fighting poor people whos lives were ruined by tony stark, gobby is an unrepentant evil. as he should, goblin stands in direct opposition to what spider-man stands for. he says a lot to mcu peter about power and taking what he wants with that power, a lot of it mirrors the speeches he gave to raimi's peter back in 2002. it fits so nicely to point out the way peter was acting in the first act just isnt realistic for him. spider-man cant have what he wants. he's spider-man. we are who we choose to be.
and i know right now maybe you're thinking "hey shouldnt this be stuff covered in a spider-man's first appearance? this is like the core fundamentals of spider-man." well youre right. and shockingly like seriously i was shocked, this movie might as well be the first outing for this peter as a real genuine spider-man. while he learned absolutely nothing in homecoming and far from home and the avengers shit he was in, this time around he finally learns the most important lesson. the original lesson. you know the one.
Tumblr media
in what was a shocking moment for me, those words are passed on to peter not by his uncle ben, who literally just does not seem to exist in this world, but by may, who dies at the hands of the green goblin. this is mcu peter's lowest point, his greatest failure. his uncle ben moment his gwen stacey moment. his only family dead at the hands of an enemy he tried so hard to save. despite that though in her last words may tells peter he did the right thing trying to save norman and the others, leaves him with those timeless words. this is a far cry from the peter parker whos biggest consequence in his first outing was getting his fancy little suit taken away and his girlfriend moving away. this is some real spider-man shit and frankly i didnt expect mcu to hit me with that. i thought mcu spider-man was incapable of throwing any real punches but it got me right in the fuckin jaw.
the rest of the story is probably how you imagine it. peter grapples with grief and rage and almost takes goblin's life, perhaps a glance at things to come considering what we saw in the post credits scene. and yes as you've probably guessed, tobey maguire and andrew garfield do in fact show up and its awesome. we dont get all that much out of them other than some nostalgia bait and a little glimpse into what amazing spider-man peter has been like since we last saw him at his lowest point. probably some scraps from what would have been amazing 3. everything with the returning spideys is kept vague and light for the most part, which is a shame imo. theres much more focus on the returning rogues, including a shocking amount of screen time for amazing spider-man 2's electro, considering how hated that movie was. in fact it's electro who gets the emotional moment with amazing peter, rather than curt connors, who i would consider to be more appropriate for that. it might have been an actor issue. otto gets a nice reunion scene with raimi's peter which i was very happy to see, but i dont think that peter even spoke to norman, since he was very squarely assigned to mcu peter this time.
the last bit that i think solidified this movie as having finally gotten peter parker right is the end. peter's been forgotten by the whole world via magic. his only family is gone and his friends dont know him anymore. he moves into a shitty new york apartment with no money no fancy suit and nobody in the world. it took years but we're finally at a launching point for a real honest to god peter parker. peter isnt defined by his misery but rather hes defined by the way he responds to it. the last shot of the movie is peter hopping out the window of that shitty apartment and choosing to be spider-man, complete with JJJ barking his criticisms for the city to hear. this is even signified by a new suit that he made by hand with no stark tech in it, and it resembles the classic comic red and blue more than anything else he's ever worn. its representative of a return to form for peter. well a return to form this peter has never actually been in but you know what i mean.
so basically this movie almost retroactively makes the last two plus the first act of no way home...almost okay? cuz now you see like...all of that truly WAS before peter was a real genuine spider-man. it turns out he really did never learn that lesson from ben, it never clicked for him. all this time he really just was not truly spider-man. there's a good reason why the other peters dont show up until close to the third act, they cant enter the narrative until THIS peter learns what being spider-man truly means.
so i guess what im saying is its a pretty good spidey flick.

How do Otto's mental issues play into his belief that it's a good idea to sell mini-Astralathes in your OBDLC AU?
the mini-astrolathe thing in general tells me that Otto helped Ford and the others with the astrolathe, nearly got fucking killed by Maligula (again), and came out the other end thinking "the astrolathe was cool I'm still really proud of that. but too intense. what if i shrank it", to undersell the emotion of it all
to bring this waaaaaay back around to the conception of the au, what kicked this all off was Otto feeling guilty about what happened to Helmut's brain one minute, but then the next time Helmut checked on him he was fine.
And in my mind, Otto's "fine" because he used one of his many make me not have feelings bot 3000 options to deal with the guilt before it could get to him too much. the Grulovia mission is coming up soon after all, he needs to be at 110% for Helmut's sake.
I'd been thinking he used the astrolathe itself, but I'd also like to think in my 2 week time skip Raz's post game desire to have the thing taken apart would be coming to fruition by that point.
So, mini astrolathe. prototype. used it on himself. its still a WIP tho. maybe thats all it takes to get the ball rolling re: things being off.
I keep thinking of how this whole narrative ends with Otto taking the reigns back and getting 0tt0 to stand down (you are my own creation!) and I've been mentally associating it with the phrase "kill your darlings"
which is a phrase you hear get tossed around in writing sometimes that basically means "sometimes, your favorite ideas/characters/lines need to be trashed if the story surrounding them can't fit them anymore."
I feel like mini-astrolathes are like... Otto being inspired by the fact everyones back together again and thinking going back to an older idea is inherently good? and ? its. hmmmm!! i dont think it is sir.
this analysis/story description starts falling apart near the end bc at a certain point I just can't quite fully grasp why Otto would think its a good idea. Besides the stuff I already said. you saw what happened to ford? dude??

awsten would think better than words is fun also, but he eventually will maybe pick i want to write you a song <3
geoff would just be confused about why it was so popular bc he thinks it sounds very campy and cheesy but he might start to like them if awsten sang them a lot. you know when an annoying song gets stuck in your head and then you start to like it? haha. i feel like it would be up all night or what makes you beautiful or one of the old ones. but idk if geoff would actually like them. he’s more into, like. the civil wars. haha.
zakk would like why don’t we go there. he’s also the most likely to regularly listen to them. when he thinks he can get away with it, he’ll play 1d in the van haha.
lucas has no interest in 1d but would probably pick story of my life based solely on the sound of it. maybe he goes to zakk and he’s like ‘i have this song stuck in my head. what is it?’ and he kind of sings it and zakk is like !!! :))))) it’s one direction! and lucas is like, oh no. and then zakk plays you and i for him later and lucas is like, i like this. and zakk is like THATS ONE DIRECTION TOO. and lucas is like nooooOOOOO. and then later he’ll like night changes and he’s like STOPPPPPPP. but! ***his favorite one winds up being a.m.***
ash likes don’t forget where you belong <3
(i have just listened to love you goodbye for the first time (in a long time? ever?) and i said what the hECK out loud. this is Not Classy. this is like when nick wrote champagne problems. NO, BOYS. STOP. S T O P. they are BREAKING UP WITH YOU. you are SO RUDE AND GROSS.)
jawn is mad that anyone would think there’s even a possibility that he would like something so “dumb.” but he doesn’t hate perfect. mayyyyyybe this is the jawsten song hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
travis likes all the danceable ones. what makes you beautiful, best song ever, live while we’re young, does he know, etc.
otto just likes going di-AAAANNAAAAA so he would say that one haha

Kevin Cage of @spotlightsaga reviews... Fear the Walking Dead (S03E02) The New Frontier Airdate: June 4, 2017 @amc Ratings: 2.698 Million :: 1.04 Demo Share Score: 8.5/10 @amc-fearthewalkingdead FB/IG/Tumblr/Twitter: @spotlightsaga **********SPOILERS BELOW********** Only after watching the 1st episode 4 times, was I able to become comfortable enough to write an extensive review. I've always felt like FearTWD came barreling out of the gate the exact way I would want any of my 'Dawning of the Zombie Apocalypse' series or films to do so. It was about psychology and sociology, unlike its violent, campy sister show. Not that I don't have a deep appreciation for TWD, because I do... Just like FTWD, TWD's characters go through a sort of transformation over time, becoming unrecognizable as the people we first met them as. Their environment and its rapidly decaying social constructs change them. Due to personal time constraints and working on other series... Oh, not to mention a member of my household that threatens death if I watch FearTWD without them, I was forced to split the 2-Part premiere up in what was supposed to be just two days... It ended up being almost an entire month. As frustrating as that is, it does give me a certain advantage of perspective because I didn't watch these episodes back to back in a bottleneck type fashion where I miss small details. I searched through my old review because at the beginning of this episode I notice after Travis (Cliff Curtis) is shot and opens the helicopter door to push himself out, the camera briefly pans down as Alicia unbuckled herself in attempt to stop Travis from jumping out of the copter. Only, when that camera pans down we see that it appears that Travis had been bitten before he had even boarded in the first place. I searched through my notes because I found that I mentioned nothing about the bite, or the possibility of the bite in my review of S03E01, but in my notes I have a bullet point where I listed that Travis acts odd as he boards the helicopter. Interesting, because Travis doesn't seem the type to even remotely put anyone in danger if it wasn't absolutely necessary. So then why would Travis jump on that helicopter with healthy human beings, including his much adored step-daughter? This is where the fun of psychology comes in with the show, and I'm so elated that FearTWD didn't attempt to walk us through these small points, because it gives us a chance to think about it and analyze the character's actions afterwards. I'm guessing that Travis was bitten in his 'bad-ass scuffle' with the undead. He knew he was going to turn, but thought the bite wasn't so severe that he didn't have time to make it to wherever they were all going so he could be with his family one last time before saying his final goodbye... Because ultimately, that's the kind of man that I've come to know Travis as... Bit with the added bullet wound in the side of his neck, Travis knew that his time had just been cut short, making his fateful goodbye a short and unsatisfying one as Alicia is left to put the puzzle pieces together, just like us, but in a much shorter timespan. For me, the look on Alicia's face as she watched Travis fall out, after seeing the bite and gazing back up to his neck, said it all. Alycia Debnam-Carey is so good at telling stories with her facial expressions. This isn't a woman who anyone would ever accuse of only having 'one look' or resorting to a 'furrowed brow' when the emotions became complex, I feel like we were told a novel in just a few seconds because of the powerful emoting that Debnam-Carey displayed in just a brief moment. RIP, Travis... You almost had your proper goodbye that you truly deserved. Unfortunately, this just isn't that type of world. Back at the new ranch that Madison (Kim Dickens) and Nick (Frank Clark) would be trying to call home, after just living in a tortuous hell with the owner's biological son, Nick contemplates rushing into the unknown to find the lost helicopter and the people who he loved that were inside of it. This has become a trait we all associate with Nick, I see that some viewers have become frustrated with this aspect of Nick's character... But, essentially, a young man his age, a recovering addict, he's going to indulge in self-destructive behavior, react on the first emotion that overwhelms his senses. This is a young man who has recently become clean, who's been placed in one emotional stressful situation after another. He needs people like Madison around to snap him into reality and good thing she was there to do so. This isn't the frightened, frail S1 Madison who could barely muster up the gumption to react when someone was in trouble. This isn't the empathetic, caring, very human S2 Madison who would sacrifice her needs and the needs of her family to save others. No, no... This is a 'lioness defending her everything' S3 Madison who will stop at nothing to protect her own and herself... And I absolutely love it! The fact that The Otto family, who runs this ranch and apparently others, is just allowing a murderous psychopath to run free, in fact almost allowing him to take part in the first 'mercy kill' back at that base tells me that something is very wrong here. The Patriarch, Jeremiah Otto (Dayton Callie) tells Madison that he was 'star gazing' and he saw 'Venus flare across the sky', insinuating that the copter had gone down and foul play was amuck. He even goes as far as to ask if Travis would have hijacked the copter, which makes no sense whatsoever and essentially brings even more suspicion into the strength and integrity of his character. Things always feel off when a new group of characters that have their own societal structure are introduced in a 'Walking Dead' series, but these guys smell like bullshit to me.... And again, I can't stress it enough, the fact they've allowed Troy (Daniel Sharman) to exist and literally run an insane Frankenstein/Dr Jeckyl type experiments on a remote base and now just rejoin them like no 'war crimes', so to speak, is straight bananas. Sure, he's still Otto family, but he's clearly unhinged and dangerous at least a small punishment would be a sort of gesture of faith to the new arrivals that his behavior wouldn't be tolerated where they all now rest their heads. As far as episodes go, 'The New Frontier' was much more cohesive than its first parter entry, 'Eye of the Beholder'. We are diving into both the psychology and sociological natures of FearTWD, and for me that's the show getting back to what makes it great. With Travis now dead, the show even takes time to revisit Victor Strand (Colman Domingo) back at the hotel, a character that it appears that many people had almost forgotten or at least thought had died somewhere along the way. He's been put in an interesting position, as well as cemented himself in that very position as a doctor... A job he's not exactly qualified for, but a job that will keep him safe at least for the episode... And actually further, as one of his patients who he had a recent tangle with, the very woman who had cause his injuries, gave him keys to a car right before she jumped off of a balcony. As the episode winds down Jeremiah returns to Madison while she's grieving over the loss of her husband... And this asshole has the balls to tell her that part of his job is to make sure that people are not a danger to themselves or anyone else. Hi, pot... Meet, kettle. This new 'No Fucks Given' Madison tells him straight up that 'its a bit too early to tell'. Gotta give my girl props on that line... Never did I ever think I'd be referring to Madison as 'my girl', but she's earned a lot of respect in the growth we've seen over the past two episodes, or from the beginning of the series to where we are at now. He knows she has the Beretta and tells her that she can keep it... Thats if she signs for it, a sign of trust in what's already a grim, sketchy situation. Keep in mind, this is more of a dig of trust from Madison who by signing for the gun is admitting that she took it. Sure The Ottos and Jeremiah are opening up their 'compound' to them, but at this point the question is... At what cost? In the closing moments we get the highlight of the episode, of the 2-Part FTWD S3 premiere, one of the highlights of the entire series. Alicia visits Madison and asks what the plan is. Madison has made up her mind, further cementing this new and improved S3 Madison... "We're gonna make it our home, even if we have to take it over." Alicia calls that insane... Madison responds and I can feel my pulse elevating, they are truly pulling as much tension from this final scene as they possibly can, complete with an ominous, perfectly placed original score. "No, it's our fate. We suffered to get here. Travis died getting here. You have to accept it. You have to be stronger." She then tells Alicia to tell her how it all happened in the helicopter as the episode fades to black. A truly chilling moment. Thoughts? Theories? They were obviously attacked, shot at it... But by who. My guess is one of The Otto's, directly under the orders of the Patriarch Jeremiah... Though, I wouldn't be surprised if it was somehow Jeremiah himself, just to up his 'sinister factor'. Now it finally feels like FTWD is truly back!

hi so im currently coping with my finals by making more playlists to listen to. please take my offerings. yes. its more subaru playlists. the other two i made simply wasnt enough to hold the weight of my brainrot 👍
yes so actually ive spent like the past few years having like private pridebaru and greedbaru playlists to myself so i decided to finally refine them and add them to spotify yep <3 notes under cut.
yeah so in general i tried to have a balance of songs about subaru being Unwell and Not Having A Good Time and songs about subaru being A Horrible Person for the ultimate listening experience👍also if youre not a japanese speaker i once again recommend looking at the lyrics for the japanese songs because theyre very good lyrics ok.
so about greedbaru playlist!!! this is based on the greed if ln by the way yes so the playlist is roughly in order of the events going on there.
"inevitabilis" to "guns for hire": subaru accepts the contract with echidna. also yes i used "a sadness runs through him" again it is like. the quintessential ifbaru song for some of the ifs yes. looked in the wrong place for redemption and all that.
"circles" to "leech boy": greed if's arc 4 happens and everyone is Miserable now <3 "our word" is subaru learning to Gaslight and Gatekeep from echidna. "hole-dwelling" by kikuo marks um. that one scene in the greed if ln where subaru kills dream echidna and then has a mental breakdown over that. yes. "evil angel" is subaru capturing meili. you can probably read the "angel" in the song being either echidna, subaru, or elsa.
"are you satisfied?" and "literary nonsense": arc 4 is over yay!!! surely everything will be fine......
"bitter choco decoration" (by syudou) to "no body, no crime": nvm nothing is fine. this is the arc where clind tries to destroy subaru but subaru. Retaliates. so to speak. "sunset lover" is just referencing subaru's save scumming... "this kingdom is mine" is subaru figuring out the culprit killing him is clind.
"your obedient servant" and "someone gets hurt (reprise)": ottosuba divorce. otto leaves subaru.
"everything stays" to the end of the playlist: subaru establishes the official greed if emilia camp by manipulating felt into leaving + reinhard into joining the faction yay!!! "anger" and "drywall" is in reference to subaru punching a wall remembering otto. and its also referencing greed if subaru having "good" days and "bad" days.
this playlist is a loop if you compare the last two songs with the first two songs.
pride playlist!!! its shorter but still a banger. in my honest and nonbiased opinion. also genuinely i listened to a lot of these while writing pride if fanfic like two years ago so thats also why theyre here HAH.
"once upon a dream" to "open up your eyes": subaru has his whole 88 first arc loops of hell where he keeps trying to brute force killing elsa 👍also i thought itd be horribly funny to put a spin on my mainbaru playlist by putting in "never ever getting rid of me" and "magia" in there alsdjfljsdf
"oh ana" and "hellfire": subaru "meets" reinhard.
"stalker's tango" to "partners in crime": subaru does more pride if things 👍joins the witch cult, makes plans, teams with elsa, etc etc.
"a story told" and "hey there delilah": subaru manipulates ferris. :(( you could probably also see the "delilah" as reinhard or emilia too.
also i use "theyre only human" again - in the greed if playlist its to reference echidna and subaru talking with each other in the dream world / through the crystal. and also because subaru is very Detached from everyone around him. thats also why its in the pride if playlist!! and "a story told" is in both playlists because. well subarus a little mansplain manipulate manwhore.
"death ballet 2nd" to the end of the playlist: yeah subaru burns down the whole country and wins at all his goals. everyone gets fucked :<<

The Simpsons Season 5 Ranked
22. Lady Bouviers’ Lover
Maybe having Grandpa falling for Marge’s Mom wasn't the greatest idea for an episode, its really not bad, just forgettable and it does the best it can with its premise, the premise just sucks.
21. The Last Temptation of Homer
I don't know what it is but this episode has always left me cold, I guess it comes down to how quickly Homer goes from just having a crush on a co-worker to seriously considering having an affair with her, it just seems like too much, and doesn’t make Homer very sympathetic in that moment even if he does the right thing at the end.
20. Barts Inner Child
Overall pretty good, but by far the best moment is the scene that has the two best guest stars in the history of the show: Albert Brooks and Phil Hartman.
19. The Boy Who Knew Too Much
Not a perfect episode, but every scene with Principal Skinner is great.
18. Lisa vs. Malibu Stacy
I actually really like this episode, the problem is as I have said before, during the golden years theres just too much good you have to rank some very good episodes way too low.
17. Homer Goes to College
Kind of a weird episode, and maybe it doesn’t explore its idea as well as it could have, its still a very funny idea and as a result a funny episode.
16. Bart Gets an Elephant
The precise moment where you could no longer call this show a realistic look at a dysfunctional American family, I mean its still great, but this would never happen in the first couple seasons.
15. Homer and Apu
One of the first episodes that explores a character outside the main family, opening the door for many, many, many future stories.
14. Burns Heir
When I was a kid, I always wondered why Bart chose his family over, unimaginable wealth, maybe that says something about my morals. Its a very fun episode beside this.
13. Scenes of a Successful Marriage
A much better Marge/ Homer episode than The Last Temptation of Homer, it really breaks down the core of their relationship, and that is as depressing as it should be.
12. Bart gets Famous
A hint at the meta deconstruction that the show would later explore in future seasons, where the show is already addressing its longevity, which is interesting looking back from season 28.
11. Marge on the Lamb
A Thema and Louise parody, that has far and away the best C-plot in any episode, where Lionel Hutz has about 1:30 minutes of screen time, and it is all gold.
10. Homer the Vigilante
Another very joke heavy episode, and as the best of these type of episodes have to be, this is very funny, with a great parody of Its A Mad Mad Mad Mad World.
9. Treehouse of Horror IV
While not quite as good as V, but it does include maybe my favorite Treehouse of Horror Segment: Homer and the Devil.
8. Boy Scoutz ‘n the Hood
Very solid episode from beginning to end, its very funny, has a great sense of adventure (I enjoy stories of people lost at sea, I don't know why) and a really great song, which puts it up a few spots in this list.
7. $pringfield
Besides being just one of the most purely enjoyable episodes of the season, the subplot of Marge becoming a gambling addict and the family falling apart without her around is a great emotional core, that impressively blends very well with the zaniness that is going on.
6. Sweet Seymour’s Baadasssss Song
Like Homer and Apu before it, this is an episode which, further develops a side character who was previously rather one note into someone with a backstory and an emotional core.
5. Homer Loves Flanders
Another hint at the deconstruction that seasons 7 & 8 would explore. Here they show a world where Homer and Flanders are friends, but they show understands that the world cannot exists this way and solve this problem in a very tongue-in-cheek manner.
4. Deep Space Homer
A classic, compatible to Mr. Plow in its legacy and its themes: Homer gets a new job and ends up having to compete with Barney. Plus the first appearance of the inanimate carbon rod!
3. Cape Feare
Many would consider this the greatest episode in the shows history, and its difficult to argue against that, its nearly perfect in its structure, comedy, parody and thriller aspects. But again this is my completely subjective list and I prefer the two above it.
2. Homers Barbershop Quartet
I love The Beatles, they are my favorite band, and like most die-hard Beatles fans I studied those 7 years of those mens lives to an obsessive extent, so of course I love this parody of that story by my favorite show of all time. One things thats interesting, is I saw this episode way before I had any interest of The Beatles so it was a gradual developing love once I finally understood the references and jokes that are throughout the episode.
1. Rosebud
Like the episode previously listed, I didn't truly fall in love with this episode until I saw and also fell in love with Citizen Kane, while I don't think you need to have seen Citizen Kane to enjoy this episode, I think it is a large benefit in the appreciation you can have for the attention to detail that was put in, and the skill in retelling the story of the greatest film of all time in 22 minutes, and have it be funny and have all the shows characters act within character for the entirety of the story, I’m sorry but if thats not an example of high art I don't know what is.
Overall Rankings:
1. RoseBud
2. Last Exit to Springfield
3. Homer at the Bat
4. Homer’s Barbershop Quartet
5. Cape Feare
6. Marge vs. the Monorail
7. Flaming Moe’s
