Hehehe i just had a funny thought so every thief after Ann if you fused him wouldn’t know arsene is jokers first persona and come the fight with yaldi when arsene pops out all of the thief’s are going “What is that I’ve never seen it before, jokers never shown that persona before where did it come from?” Heheh I’m just picturing there faces and it’s making me giggle
omg for real tho!!!! like what if all the thieves after the original team have,,,,no idea that akira has a personal persona, like they just assume his role as the wild card means he instead only has a rotating door, a sort of trade off. bc i could honestly see that being skipped over as it’s not something that would come up and it’s really not that important for them to know he had arsene. so then he summons him at the final confrontation, breaking his chains and evolving him to his ultimate form as satanael, all the thieves too dazzled and amazed to say anything in the moment...but then afterward, half of them are like “akira...YOU HAVE A PERSONA?? WHO IS ARSENE????” and then he has to have the embarrassing moment realizing he NEVER TOLD THEM.....

The Haunting Of Queen Mary's Castle-  C.B  ~P.1☆

Main Masterlist
Colby Brock Masterlist
Summary: Sam and Colby had the bright idea to drag their friends to Scotland, and where would the perfect video location be? How about Queen Mary’s haunted castle? It didn’t help that aspiring physic, Y/N wasn’t too happy to head out of the country, but Colby was there to help. And maybe he wanted something more than being there to help her. Could the spirits be on his side for once?

A/N: This fic is from the vault. I wrote this around January of this year, I start school again in two days and the work and stress load is going to be horrible, especially with it being half in person, half online. I hope to get some more creativity back when more pressure is put on me. I have plenty of ideas with just not enough passion and time. It’ll trickle back one day.

“Holy Shit…” Colby held his camera closer to his chest as he walked closer towards the breathtaking Neidpath Castle. It’s aura seemed to engulf the curiosity of the young man. His friends splurged on a ten hour trip to Scotland for a quick Youtube video series, he knew near the end, half of them would be begging to go home. The comical routine played its key role in every single episode, no matter what the occasion was. It did make good money to be completely honest. Although, that wasn’t the main focus of their careers. He found himself under a tall bridge-like banister connecting its way to the entire estate. Next to him was his long time roommate, Corey. He sported a bright yellow hoodie in large contrast with Colby’s black one. It was sort of funny, each of his friends had a unique personality, yet connected so well. Of course, they were wearing their own merch. It helped the sales go up, not to mention it was awfully comfortable. A perk to the business if you say.
“And we thought the church was cool…” Sam, Colby’s best friend and other handler of the videography series on their channel, gaped in front of him. This place was bigger than any other private plot they’ve ever visited! It was a couple thousand dollars to rent out for the night, but with the palace’s history it was born to make a hefty income.
“We have this all to ourselves!” Colby nudged Sam, he handed the camera off to his friend Jake, who was talking a mile a minute to the other attendees. A new face poked out of the regular bunch.
“Are you gonna catch me when I get scared, Y/N?” Jake stuck his face in the view of the content woman. Her persona seemed quite drained due to the long trip. She was partially new to the Youtube platform, especially with ghost hunting. Not like Y/N was easily frightened, unlike her friends, it just wasn’t her go to for a cheap thrill. Nerves were indefinitely strained, since it was the first time out with the entire group. Nothing Jake couldn’t fix.
Her laugh trickled out blissfully, ”Wouldn’t Tara get jealous? You don't want to get on her bad side? Do you?” He quickly shook his head and gave a hesitant reply with his sheepish smile.
“We get this all to ourselves?” Colby queried. This place was double the size of the Trap House by far, they had to be scared shitless by the time they left. There had to be some sort of restrictions or a down sided catch to it all.
“Did you do any research on this place?” Y/N  slid up behind the unfocused main man, a small quirk to her. Colby jumped a smidge in light shock. He wasn’t expecting anyone to be genuinely interested with the property. Colby mentally cursed for being so jumpy.
“Jesus Y/N, you scared the shit out me.” He replied, not answering the girl’s question. Y/N met Sam and Colby way back in highschool. Each of them slithered their way into the other’s channels and have made frequent appearances. They definitely weren’t strangers, even though it seemed that way with fans. Y/N had more paranormal encounters out of all of the boys, despite a bit of distaste towards the topic. She was lugged around on long adventures to help them with videos. Some of her videos ranged from ‘‘accidentally’ joining a cult to “selling her soul”. She was the wicca-pedia they needed to not get possessed each trip.
“Ok pussy.” She walked off to talk to Corey, the pair oddly all had a strong connection from somewhere, and Colby sighed as to quickly put on his cheery online persona once more.
Sam waved up at a vacant window as the group, “Hello!” The woman replied unknowingly and aroused quite a shock of embarrassment. A faint giggling came from the couple in the back, “No,no, I do it better.” Corey got a hold of herself, “A Ra-Ta-Ta-tah.” The two burst back into their ceremonial laughs and briefed on about some TikToks they watched on the remotely silent ride from the airport.
Sam turned back around to see the shorter woman. Notwithstanding her first place in line, “How is he gonna get a kiss kiss? Very ugly to me!” The duo rounded up to each other and laughed on their way up the trail, leaving the others confused and focused on talking to the groundskeeper.
“I’m assuming you are the caretaker of this?” The blonde one waved more at the older woman. She seemed more on the reserved side and peeled her eyes at the sight of a camera. A lovely addition to the already uncomfortable scene.
The woman gracefully approached Sam, “Yes, Yes I am. My name is Katrina.” Sam went on with the lady into a dark back door. The young adults glanced on in uncertainty.
“Yo, why are they going off by themselves?” Colby asked Jake. The first rule of all of their videos was not to go off by yourself. Bad shit always follows. “He literally was like-”
“He’s been looking at her ass like all day.” Jake joked back, Corey attentively diverted himself from Y/N to get a jump in on whatever that conversation had morphed to.
“That’s whatever the fuck he was doing.” They all snickered and continued on with the inappropriate jokes. Editing this would be like a field day to Reggie.
“Is Kat gonna think…” Colby looked around jokingly, getting another round of laughter from the friends.
“I don’t know..” Colby softly replied. He pressed on to dumbfoundedly impersonate Sam’s girlfriend, “Oh it’s not cheating if he’s not in the same country.”
“It’s sexual relations Jake.” Y/N whispered at him. They continued to poke fun out of the cougar-lady, but her and Sam rushed back soon enough. Just in time to ask questions.
“Uh, that was pretty much the coolest thing I’ve ever seen in my life.” Sam pulled everyone aside with a smug look on his face. He honestly always had one of those. The blank stares that were thrown back at him weren’t what he expected.
“Uh Sam what does that mean.” Jake chuckled. He looked around at everyone not able to catch on. The seriousness of the situation began to settle as everyone genuinely thought Sam could have done some weird shit with that groundskeeper.
“All I have say is that was quick man…” Colby scraped some gunk off of her nails while waiting for following instructions.
Sam obviously didn’t understand, “To fill you guys in I had to learn, kind of, where all the specific light switches were. I didn’t even look around. I just kinda looked at the ground until she saw.”
“You were like that’s the coolest thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life.” Colby turned the camera to focus on him and Jake mocking Sam’s slight happiness by seeing fancy rocks.
“It was only the stairs!” Sam said defeatedly, he didn’t want to spoil the real first looks.”That’s just giving you a little hint, but um, I asked her if she could you know fill us in on some of the information of, likewise castles here, the hauntings or any deaths and she said she knows some information.”
“Oh cool…” Colby was already quite unenthusiastic about this idea anyways. Katrina retreated out of the building quickly with keys in her hand. She sprinted over to all of them.
“Look it’s Sam’s new girlfriend!” Y/N cheered. Sam spun his head around, probably pulling a muscle in the process. The pure look of utter horror could not be more hysterical. Sam became flustered with a loss for words, his face tinted with a light shade of pink. Before he could muster up any sort of retort Katrina, the groundlady, came jogging back to the group.
“What’s some of the backstory about this castle?” Jake asked, he spun some rings around in his hand. Paying no mind to the other plot line adhering to his right.
“This castle was built in the second half of the 14th-Century, but there was another castle built before that in here. That was built in 110,so uh.” Few ‘Wows’ and ‘Oohs’ cut her off. “That was quite a while ago, but the Neidpath was built by the Family Of Fraser’s and they built a Buddha made castle. This one was burned down by the English army. After a guy named Simon Fraser, who’s the cousin of Braveheart, was captured and executed and that’s why the Buddha made the castle was burned to the ground. Another family built this castle, which was besieged in 1650 by the Cromwellian army. Legend says that this was the only stronghold of the Scottish borders which actually withstanded the siege. Whether it’s true or not, we don’t know, but what we do want you to know is that one-third of the castle collapsed, non-existing anymore.” She spoke with absolute passion. The place had so much rich history, the surrounding observers listened with extreme intent, not to miss one sentence in case it may help their investigation.
Colby raised his eyebrows at this question, “One-third of it?”
Katrina continued on, “Because of the siege. We do have a dungeon in the castle as well.” Everyone went silent.
“A dungeon?!” Jake nearly dropped a silver band he was picking on by the mention of this. His personality perked up and suddenly the whole crowd was uplifted. Finding weird places in “abandoned” areas is always a plus side, but this tops all of it.
“Guys shut up!” Y/N whacked Jake with her phone, he stuck his tongue out while rubbing his shoulder. She didn’t want to leave too bad of a first impression. It would be mortifying if something went wrong and the owner already hates you.
“Is there a dragon?” Corey brought everyone back to the topic of the castle, he didn’t want to be there a minute longer, but in this group you just do what you’re told and shut your mouth.
“We do have quite a big colony of bats under the roof, so I’m not sure if you really want to go down there Mister.” The group laughed and groaned at Katrina’s statement. Running into bats could be the worst thing to encounter.
Corey nodded in response, “So there are dragons.”
The history went on, “It was quite widely used during the 14th and 15th century because that was the only reason for the whole county.” The darker side of it all became slowly prevalent. It wasn’t just a posh place the others expected it to be.
“Prison?” Sam posed. This just got a lot weirder than they all expected.
“Yes. You’ll be able to get into it because there is this rough opening through, which was made in the 17th century, but before that the only entrance to the dungeon was through the trap door from the guards. I should have shown you that, but I’m not going to. You’ll find it by yourself.
“Oh god…” Colby rubbed the bridge between his nose, an inevitable  headache was beginning to form.
Sam tittered, “Are we just going to fall through? Is that ok?” He got no proper answer, which set his worries on the run.
“So, the last prisoner was there in 1594, I think. We know there was a teenage boy like a 14 year old boy who was just pick pocketing people and he ended up here. The note didn’t say that he actually came out of there again.”
“Like meaning it’s haunted?” Colby preyed on.
“Uh, it is haunted!” Katrina stated blandly.
“Fun for us!” Y/N shrugged to hide her panic. Colby glanced at her. He sensed her anxiousness, he didn’t want her to be upset. Definitely not in the shitty environment. Of course, he cared for her, he just didn’t know how to open up and tell her. Would this really be the place?
“We do have our own one. Her name is Jean Douglas. She died in 1750, she was the daughter of one of the owners of the castle and she died of a broken heart.” The mood fell, a breeze pulled through and messed with the mics. Leaving just a sprinkle of static in the footage. Just in time.
“She was engaged to a young man, but he wasn't wealthy enough to win her family over, so he went abroad to win his fortune and fame and because he was away for far too long she went really sickly and pale and she didn’t eat. She didn’t sleep, so she was really frail when he finally came. When he was riding his horse through the archway she was at the window and he failed to recognize her because she was so altered and broke her heart and she died on the spot.”
The group had a silent reaction to the news, not knowing how to react.
“Ever since then she is walking through the castle being very tall, very gray, very pale looking, weeping.”
“What’s her name again?”
“Jean.” A tiny shiver racked through Sam’s body. He didn’t tell anyone. Just not to set anyone off. Now he really didn’t want to face this spirit.
“Have you ever seen Jean?” Y/N asked, trying her best not to be insensitive with the approach. These things are held really close to some people. Their experiences could be life changing, for others it could most certainly be a lot different.
“No, but I do have ghostbusters coming in several times a year and I asked what was the best recording ever and they were like ‘We got brilliant ones of screams.”
“Ah..”
“And I was like inside of the castle. I’m here sometimes on my own in the middle of the night at midnight, one, two, three o’clock. When I have to lock up after the events and such. Do I really want to do that with screams in my head? No I don’t, I said no.”
“Alright sounds like it’s a nice haunted Scottish castle.” Sam tried his best to play off his uncomfortable feelings with humor. It did not work.
“I’m going to do the dungeon now. I’m not telling you what I’m going to do now and then the place will be yours” Katrina headed back into the castle with an odd vibe.
“So, she’s gonna make us fall down the trap door, wow.” Jake leaned in for slight commentary.
“How much do you want to bet that we’re going to die?” Y/N grabbed her backpack to locate her wallet and pulled out a twenty.
“I bet 15.” Corey grabbed his wallet too.
“Guy, that is so sad though…” Colby came into the center of all of them, “Ok, that story. Imagine your husband comes home on a little horse and you're in this window, literally right there and then you die on the spot because he's like ‘Who’s that?’ It’s a tall, frail old lady that’s crying everywhere.” Colby clung to his sweatshirt, “Oh that’s so creepy!”
“Colby if you ever do that to me you’ll have to go back to VidCon alone again.” Y/N was putting in her best bet and threw a five at him. “You can use that for your ticket.” He blushed, just like Sam moments before.
Sam added more commentary from behind the camera, “They’ve heard screams within the castle.” Katrina came right back out with her deafening personality, handed the keys to Sam and hopped right back in her small, blue car, and left with no exchange of words.
“She creeps me out.” Jake in discomfort. To be fair, she is a creepy ass old lady who owns a castle in the middle of nowhere.
Corey turned away from the groundskeeper's car and shrugged off his jitters, "So we have a castle to ourselves...”
“This is amazing!” Sam couldn’t contain his excitement.
“No Shit. I still can’t grasp why you all buyout expensive stuff like a castle.” Y/N gripped the abundance of bet money and slid it all bad into her bag.
Colby inspected the property more in depth, as if he was waiting for a ghoul to poke out at any given time, “This is where we’re staying tonight.” With a grand motion upwards Sam panned the camera up and down.
“And you guys...” Sam pulled the camera away from the stronghold and directed the frame to the rest of his friends,”..have not even seen the inside at all.”
“I know, I know.” Colby pulled his beanie down his head, the enlightened sun seemed to cascade into the clouds with a faint breeze.
“Let’s go find our cottage, get ourselves completely set up and ready for the night. Take some pictures before sun down and then go into the castle, because like we can’t lose this sunset and we got to figure this out.” Sam did some weird hand movements in front of the camera and handed it off to the other’s opinions.
Colby nodded his head up and down in agreement,” Yeah definitely.” Jake wandered around with a rock and for the most part everyone said eye to eye.
“Unfair treatment. I wanted to go in now.” Y/N gave a side glance to Sam and Corey brushed his hand over her playfully. She walked back into frame,“All I gotta say is, Colby Brock Hot Edits.” Colby walked up next to her with a shit-eating grin in approval. Who doesn’t love Colby Brock edits?”
“Shut up, you’re just jealous that there’s no Y/N L/N hot edits for you.” He playfully jabbed back at her with a growing flutter in his stomach. He fucking hated that feeling to no end, but it was such a drug. Only when she was around.
“Alright let’s go, I’m bored as shit.” Jake came back with his new pet rock and put his arm around Corey. Sam cut the camera and went down the forked path. Right down the road was a cottage for visitors.
“Hey Y/N,” Colby came jogging up to the colleen, “Did you see any weird stuff yet?” He shoved his hands in his pockets, a symptom of his bashfulness, he began to rethink his uncolorful wording in his sentence. He just had the sudden urge to go up to her and she wasn’t complaining one bit.
She looked over at him, “No, not yet. I just got really put-off by that lady. She just was so…” Her eyes connected with his and a glistening highlight overcame the peaking iris. The words weren’t verbally there, but he understood what was there.
Sam cut her off, “Dude. Look how big this place is.” It was rationally smaller than their house back in LA, but it was sizable for an ancient brick living space.
Jake made the most commotion out of the seven, “Whoever is first picks where they sleep!” He dashed ahead of the group and everyone picked up speed, almost dropping the rock he just adopted.
“I think there’s only like three beds.” Sam panted. No one paid much mind to him and kept running. They all toppled into the door and Corey unlocked it, which left the rest to run up to a room. Jake took the first one to the left, Sam tumbled into the one across. A room had a small couch for Corey and last, but not least…
“Looks like we’re bunking L/N.”
“Fuck you Brock.”
Sam peaked his head in, “Guys, we have film some shots of the place. Come on.” The three made it to the living room where all and sundry were. Sam grabbed his camera and got everyone in shot.
“What?!” With grand motions each person stood up in their acts of shock. Even though it had been there for a solid five minutes the audience always has to be entertained.
Colby turned around, “Yo! We got a TV too!” A small Toshiba was put on a step stool. It would probably gain no use tonight anyways. It looked like a piece of crap too, thank god for Youtube.
They all got up from their seats and went to uncover the rest of the place, “This is nice, very cool.” Colby led them into Corey’s room. A huge bed frame was around a pink canopy bed. Old photos and paintings of the fortress were hung evenly around the perimeter. Sam went through the rest of the rooms and told everyone to head off and get ready.
The guys took cold showers and Y/N soaked in a muddled bath in the basement. She didn’t like it here. Her mind couldn’t unravel much. Sam was stationed upstairs doing a camera touch up with Jake by his side talking about the new Harry Styles album. A half an hour later everyone was wearing at least one faction of Sam and Colby merch, phones were charged and beams from flashlights slid across the floor like a jumping snake.
The group divided into pairs as they walked to the castle. The sky grew much darker than expected and it felt like a looming spirit chipped away at the warm function of friends. The camera was whipped right back out.
“Alright, we are all showered, changed, and ready to explore the castle before sunset.” All went under the arch while the audio was whacked around by the wind.
Colby turned from his conversation to the viewers, "I’m still like flipping out that we’re staying here tonight. That’s crazy!” His lantern swung below him and the towering castle was engulfed by the purple skies. “Look at this place! Look at that beautiful sunset!” He yelled.
Y/N raised her eyebrows, “Since when were you PG-13?”
He blandly stared at her,”Shut up I need to make money,” He looked back at the camera, “When I was like blow-drying my hair and stuff after my shower, my hair dryer was insanely powerful. There’s obviously a lot of energy in it, like the voltage.”
“I thought he said blow-j-.” Corey chimed in. He shut himself up so they wouldn’t get demonetized, it would be a funny way to go down though. Y/N and Colby giggled along with him. It wasn’t a rare occasion that they all were out laughing and joking, just the side chick with the haunted castle.
Corey swung his flashlight up and down, “His blow dryer started smoking and like almost blew up.”
“So, what I’m saying is the spirits could use all of this energy to talk to us.”
They all made it to the castle and it was around five-thirty. There wasn’t much to do at this time, but she was always watching. There was something about to happen they could all feel it and that thing, it wasn’t going to be good.

P5R: Rebel Girl (A FeMC Story/P5R Rework) Chapter 32: 3 Targets
Friday morning, and Ren has just finished getting dressed for school. She turned around. “Alright, you can look now. Huh?” She was surprised to see Morgana not perched upon the windowsill. Instead, Morgana crawled out from under the bed. Ren sank down to meet him. “What are you doing down there?”
“You said I shouldn’t look when you’re changing,” Morgana said. He hopped on the bed so that Ren could stand up. “I wasn’t looking.”
“Right, but when you do that, you usually look out the window,” Ren said. “What happened?”
Morgana seemed a little embarrassed. “While you were out with Mishima last night, this woman almost kidnapped me…”
“WHAT?!” Ren said, shocked.
“I was worried that that woman would see me and try to take me again,” Morgana said. “Man, why do I have to have this cat body?”
“What happened?” Ren asked, picking up Morgana.
“Wha?” Morgana said, shocked at getting picked up. “Well, uh, I was walking around, minding my own business, when I heard someone shout ‘SNOWBALL!’ At first I didn’t pay it much mind, but she ran up to me and tried picking me up. I ran away from her but she just kept chasing me.
Eventually, I ran toward this old man in the neighborhood. He was confused initially, but when he heard her screaming ‘SNOWBALL!’ he seemed to pick up on what was going on. He tucked me away and shooed her off. If I never see her again, it’ll be too soon.”
Ren set Morgana down and then sat down herself. “Did you happen to catch a name?”
“Well, oddly enough, yeah” Morgana said. “After she left the old man sighed and said ‘Crazy ol’ Ryoko Aino at it again.’ He also looked at me and said ‘She keeps taking cats. How many would you be? 11? 13?’ Why?”
“Well, I was thinking of getting the gang together and paying her a visit” Ren answered.
“Huh?” Morgana said.
Ren giggled. “You’ll see.” Morgana popped into Ren’s bag and the two headed off to school.
After school, Ren got a message from Mishima.
Mishima: Hey, I just noticed a dire request on the Phansite.
Mishima: And guess what? It’s from our school.
Mishima: Apparently this one kid named Daisuke Takanashi is hardcore bullying a bunch of students.
Mishima: Sometimes it even gets physical.
Mishima: Do you want me to make it known that the Phantom Thieves are after him?
Ren: Sure.
Ren: Also, could you do that for two other people?
Mishima: Of course! Anything for the Phantom Thieves!
Ren: Great!
Ren: Do that for Heiji Ono and Ryoko Aino.
Mishima: Done and done!
“That’s what you meant?!” Morgana yelped.
“Shhhh” Ren said. “People might hear you.”
“We’re going to change her heart?” Morgana continued.
Ren nodded. ”If she keeps kidnapping cats, the streets of Yongen-Jaya won’t be safe for cats… Or you…”
Morgana fussed. “I guess it’s fine in some contexts.”
“Alright! So, let’s get everyone together” Ren said.
“Huh? We’re doing these today?” Morgana questioned.
Ren nodded. “I figure it would be easier than jumping three basically unaware people into a palace.”
“Makes sense,” Morgana said. “Hey, wait! Was that a snide remark at me?”
Ren smiled. “Perhaps. But at the same time, I think we needed to steal Kamoshida’s heart in order to get people to believe us. So it’s even.”
“Well… alright…” Morgana said.
Ren messaged the group chat.
Ren: Alright everyone, we’re meeting up today!
Soon, they all met up in the access hall. “Alright! Are we going to give Madarame what’s coming to him?!” Ryuji said.
“Not so loud!” Ann hushed him. “We’re still in public.”
“Sorry,” Ryuji said.
“Well, to answer your question, not yet,” Ren said. Everyone was surprised. “I was thinking of doing a bit of training first.”
“Training how?” Sumire asked.
Ren turned to face Sumire. “Remember that place where your Persona first awakened?” Sumire nodded. “That place is called Mementos. It serves as a palace for the general public, and it’s where we can steal the hearts of people without a palace.”
“Huh” Sumire said.
“So, you wanna head down there?” Ann asked.
Ren nodded. “I figure it might help Sumire, and Yusuke get used to the Metaverse some more, and maybe get Jose some Phantom Thief experience..”
“Well, I could use some practice,” Yusuke said.
Jose nodded. “I guess I might need some assistance working as a team.”
“Well, do we have any marks?” Ryuji asked.
“Three” Ren answered.
“Well let’s hear them,” Ryuji said.
“Yeah, we do have to agree on them before we can go after them” Ann reminded them.
Ren nodded. “First, there’s a bully at our school; Daisuke Takanashi. Apparently he’s even getting physical.”
“No way!” Ryuji said. “We can’t let that stand.”
“I agree,” Yusuke said.
“Daisuke Takanashi?” Sumire said. She thought. “OK, let’s do this.”
“Alright, second is this old man who keeps disturbing the peace in Kichijoji named Heiji Ono. Apparently, he’s also feigning ignorance about it every time he does it.”
“Huh? What does that mean?” Jose asked.
“It means he says he doesn’t know what he’s doing when he does,” Ann explained. “And although it might seem a bit harsh, I say we go for it. I can’t stand people who keep getting away with things due to some special treatment.”
Ren nodded. “And lastly, poor little Morgana here almost got kidnapped last night”.”
“Don’t… Don’t phrase it like that” Morgana said. “It makes me sound less cool.”
“Awww, poor Morgana” Jose said. He started petting him. “It’s OK. We all have weak moments.”
Morgana was slightly embarrassed, but he did enjoy the petting. “Thanks…”
“Taking Morgana would not have been the first time she kidnapped a cat,” Ren continued. “We need to change her heart to keep her from taking cats in the future.”
“I agree,” Sumire said. “Taken away by a stranger to a place you don’t know. It sounds harrowing, especially for a cat. … Oh, but I don’t mean to compare you to just a regular cat, Morgana-senpai.”
“It’s… fine…” Morgana relented. “In this case, I’d be no different than an actual cat.”
“So, it sounds like we’re all in agreement then” Ren said. Everyone else nodded. “Great. I had Mishima alert them on the Phansite already. Now, let’s head to Mementos.” Everyone prepared and headed out.
Once they arrived, Yusuke was taken by surprise. “Oh my. What a strange garden.”
“Oh yeah. Yusuke hasn’t been here before” Ann remarked.
Sumire was silent. “Hey” Ren said. “It’s going to be alright. Things changed since the last time you were down here.” She took her hand. “You’ve changed.”
Sumire blushed. “Thanks senpai.”
Yusuke held his hands out to make a frame. “What an intricate display of madness. I might need to paint this someday.”
“Yeah, maybe hold off on that until we can get Madarame to stop claiming your works of art are his” Ryuji told him.
“Hmmm. You’re right” Yusuke said. “Madarame hasn’t even seen this. To have him take credit for it…”
Ryuji looked at him. “Man, I’d like to live in your head for like five minutes.”
“I’d like that too,” Morgana said. “Then maybe you’ll see why Panther deserves a portrait of herself.”
“WHAT?!” Ryuji snapped back.
“Hm. What clever thinking” Yusuke said.
“Yeah. I’d like that too” Ann giggled.
“If you were to live in my head, then you would know at first glance that Pather’s beauty and radiance deserves a nude portrait unto itself!” Yusuke continued.
“WHAT?!” shouted Ann, Ryuji, and Morgana.
“Huh? Did I not mention that?” Yusuke asked.
“YOU MOST CERTAINLY DID NOT!” Ann shrieked.
“Huh. My apologies” Yusuke said. “However, for what it’s worth, I wouldn’t have asked you to get naked for me if you didn’t want to. I would have just looked up references for the remaining parts.”
“That’s… um…” Ann said, face turning red. “Is that better?”
“I don’t think so,” Ryuji answered. “Why the Hell do you need to draw her nude to show off her beauty, when anyone with two working eyes can see she’s beautiful inside and out?”
“Urgh!” Yusuke said, shaken. “Forgive me. It seems I need to reevaluate my perspectives.”
Sumire patted him on the shoulder. “You’re only starting to break free from Madarame’s grasp. These things take time.”
“Thank you, Violet,” Yusuke said.
“Skull…” Ann said. “That’s so sweet… But… Where the Hell was this last week?!”
“Oh… You’re still mad about that huh…” Ryuji said.
Jose was curious. “What happened last week?”
“Ah, nothing!” Ann said. Sumire and Ren giggled.
“Look, I’m sorry about that,” Ryuji said.
Ann pouted. “I just want to know why that was your first instinct.”
“Well…” Ryuji said, rubbing the back of his head. “Ugh, this is going to sound embarrassing. I just thought, I dunno, we hung out often enough. I thought I said everything else worth saying during those moments.” Ann was surprised. “But I guess Kamoshida ruined that too, didn’t he…”
“No…” Ann said. “No, you’re fine. I just… wouldn't mind hearing those things again, you know?”
“Oh… Why didn’t I think of that?” Ryuji said.
“Hm. What a marvelous duo” Yusuke said. “Would you mind if I painted the two of you together? Fully clothed, of course.”
“Huh? Well, maybe…” Ann thought.
“GAH!” Ryuji yelled. “How did we get onto this? I’ll answer the painting question later. Right now, I wanna change some hearts.”
Ann pouted again. “Skull…”
“He has a point though,” Ren said. “We came down here for a reason.”
“I agree,” Jose said. “We can’t keep those hearts waiting.”
“Right…” Ann said. “Alright Mona, do your thing!”
“Thing? What thing?” Sumire asked.
“Heh. It’s showtime” Morgana said. “TRANSFORM!” he transformed into the car.
“WOAH!” Sumire said. “You can do that?”
“Of course!” Morgana said.
“Then why does Joker-senpai have to walk everywhere?” Sumire asked. Ren burst out laughing.
“Mona can only do this in the Metaverse” Ann explained.
“Yeah. Otherwise I’d totally do that” Ren said, wiping tears from her eyes.
“I see…” Sumire.
“So, Fox, what are your thoughts on this?” Ryuji asked.
Yusuke was fascinated. “While I am familiar with the concept, to see it actually happen… I’m truly amazed.”
“Do you want to paint me too?” Morgana asked.
Yusuke thought for a second. “Well, I wouldn’t go that far. But it is a nice novelty.” Morgana pouted.
The gang entered the Morgana car and they started driving down. Sumire looked out the window. “Man, this place looks so different from a car.”
“Well, Mementos does change every time you enter it,” Morgana said.
“Really?” Sumire said.
Ren nodded. “But I think I get what you mean.”
“Yeah, you were wandering around for a while before we found you” Ann said.
“Wait, come to think of it, WHY did you venture down here anyways?” Ryuji asked.
“Huh. I guess we never got an answer to that” Ann said.
“Well, I’m assuming I gave her the app,” Ren explained. “And she just happened to pass by.”
“Yeah… Something like that…” Sumire said.
“It seems better if we do not push the issue,” Yusuke said.
Ryuji sighed. “How do you think normal is this situation?” he mumbled.
They came to the other platform on the first level. “Huh? We’re at the end already? But we haven’t found a single target” Yusuke exclaimed.
“No, this is just the first floor,” Ann said.
“Of how many?” Yusuke asked.
“No idea,” Ryuji answered.
“WHAT?!” Yusuke shrieked.
“Wait, Jose, would you know?” Ren asked.
Jose shook his head. “There’s this huge door downstairs, and I couldn’t get it open when I was down here.”
“Huh” Ryuji said. “We opened it no problem.”
“WHAT?!” Jose said.
“Well, I wouldn’t say ‘no problem’” Ren added. “The door responds to being part of the collective unconscious. Since you were basically an unknown, it makes sense you couldn’t open it.”
“Huh. I see” Jose said.
“Don’t beat yourself up over it,” Yusuke said. “There are many things in this world that you cannot possibly know alone. For instance, it took coming into contact with all of you to help me realize that something needed to be done about Madarame.”
“I guess you’re right…” Jose said.
“Anyways, let’s go,” Ryuji said. “Time to see what’s even further.”
“Though I don’t suppose we’re getting to the bottom any time soon…” Ann added.
“Yeah,” Ren said. “If Eris is waiting for us at the bottom, I think we need to become more well known among the public.”
“So, let me get this straight,” Ryuji said. “Eris wants us to meet her down there, but we can’t get there yet, so she’s helping us by creating various life-or-death situations based on a plan by a different guy she killed and stole it from.”
“Basically” Ren said.
Ryuji sighed. “Ugh. This couldn’t get more complicated.”
“I wouldn’t be too sure about that,” Morgana chimed in. “Anything can happen in the metaverse.”
“I guess you’re right” Ryuji resigned. They continued down.
They traveled Mementos a little bit until they found one of the targets. They jumped through the portal. “That must be Daisuke Takanashi’s shadow!” Morgana exclaimed.
“Time to put a stop to this bullying!” Ryuji said.
Sumire just looked at him. “...Daisuke…”
The thieves confronted him. “So, you’re the Phantom Thieves, huh?” Daisuke said. “Excellent! Ready to team up?”
“Why would we team up with a vicious bully like you?!” Ann shouted.
“To rule that pathetic school!” Daisuke answered. “With our might combined, we can make the new law of the land.”
“Tch. As if” Ryuji said. “We don’t take kindly to people pushing around others for their own amusement.”
“I agree,” Yusuke said. “It’s time we teach you some manners.”
“So that’s how it’s going to be?” Daisuke said. He transformed into a Jack Frost. “BRING IT ON!” After a quick battle, Daisuke lost. “DAMMIT!” he cried. “Why can I never be strong enough?”
“Strong enough for what?” Morgana ased.
“ANYTHING!” Daisuke answered.
“Daisuke…” Sumire said. “What happened between you and Kimi?”
“Huh? You know Kimi?” Daisuke asked.
“Well, um… yes…” Sumire said. “We’re, um, in the same ballet class… She hasn’t been herself since you broke up with her…”
Daisuke looked at Sumire. “GAH! Fine. I guess I should tell you. This other kid at school caught me shoplifting.”
“WHAT?!” Ann said.
“He told me he’d show them to the police if I didn’t do what he said,” Daisuke continued. “I didn’t want anything bad to happen, so I complied. But over time, I started hating the person I became. I had to break up with Kimi before I did something I’d regret even more.”
“So that’s it,” Ren said. Daisuke nodded.
“Hm. If you can tell us about this person, maybe we can change their heart” Jose responded.
“Heh. Sounds like a plan” Daisuke said.
“But afterwards, you have to promise to make it up to Kimi!” Sumire shouted.
“Of course,” Daisuke said. “I wouldn’t want anything more. I’ll log into that Phansite and put up a post there or something. I’ll also make it up to the store I stole from. Later.” Shadow Diasuke disappeared, and Ren took the treasure left behind.
They left and continued. “Man, this Mementos stuff is paying off!” Ryuji exclaimed. “We found Madarame like this, and now we found someone else too!”
“Yeah, but I don’t think this blackmailer will have a palace like Madarame,” Ann said.
Ryuji pouted. “Well, maybe someone could be bullying him and we keep going up the chain.”
“I doubt we’d get that lucky,” Morgana said.
Ren looked at Sumire. “So, you knew that guy Violet?”
Sumire looked up. “Well, not personally, no. But Kimi would always talk about him. She really liked him.” Sumire grew a blush. “It kind of made me jealous.”
“I see” Ren started blushing as well. “Well, it’s nice that we could reunite them.”
“Yeah” Sumire smiled. They continued driving through Mementos.
They quickly found another portal and jumped through it. “That’s that old guy, Heiji Ono’s shadow” Morgana noted.
“Hmm” Ren thought.
“What’s up?” Ryuji asked.
“My source told me there might be a little more to this one than meets the eye” Ren said.
“What do you mean? Ann asked.
Ren thought some more. “I’m not 100% sure, but I think there might be a deeper reason as to why he’s doing this.”
“Are you saying we should reason with him?” Yusuke asked.
“Well, I think it’s worth a shot at least,” Ren said.
They walked up to him. “Are you those rumored Phantom Thieves?” Heiji asked.
“Um, yeah?” Ryuji answered.
“HA! This is great” Heiji said.
“Why is this great?” Jose asked
“Because, if I mess with you and get away with it, they’ll HAVE to pay attention to me,” Heiji said.
“Um, we’re not going to just let you mess with us,” Morgana responded.
“Oh, but I am just a poor, defenseless old man” Heiji insisted.
“Did you really expect that to work?” Yusuke asked.
“Yeah, you told us your intentions outright” Ann added.
“DId I? Oh dear” Heiji said.
“Who is this ‘they’ person, and why do you want their attention?” Ren asked.
“It doesn’t matter,” Heiji said. “I keep stirring up trouble, and they keep talking to me.”
“Um, could you try talking to them without causing trouble for others?” Sumire asked.
“BAH! They never listen” Heiji said. “And from the sounds of it, neither are you.”
“We’re just trying to help,” Jose said.
“Yeah, well help THIS!” Heiji morphed into a Koropokkuru. “MAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!”
“Well, it was worth a shot,” Ren said. “Let’s get him!” The thieves fought against Heiji’s shadow. They noticed that whenever Yusuke or Morgana used their powers on him, he’d complain about his bones. So they teamed up to finish him off.
After beating Heiji, he calmed down. “I don’t want to stop!” he yelled in desperation.
“Why?!” Ryuji yelled back.
“Because… They’ll abandon me…” Heiji answered.
“Again, who is this ‘they’?” Ren asked.
“...My grandchildren,” Heiji answered.
“AH!” Sumire yelped.
“That would explain a lot,” Yusuke said.
“They don’t want to spend time with me,” Heiji explained. “But if I make trouble, then they have no choice but to come over. Even if they’re just disappointed in me, they’re still talking to me.”
“Um, have you tried talking to them about this?” Ann answered.
“I told you, they won’t listen,” Heiji explained.
“Well, maybe you don’t need to tell them,” Ren said. “Maybe It's worth it just to talk to somebody about this. Who knows, maybe they could help get your grandkids to listen.”
“Maybe…” Heiji said. “But I’ve made so many people mad. I don’t think any of them will listen.”
“Well, why not apologize?” Ryuji explained. “I’ve learned that a good apology can go a long way.” He looked at Ann and winked. Ann blushed in surprise.
“Heh. You might be right” Heiji said. “You know, you’re all such good kids. Thanks for helping this old man.” He faded out and Ren took the treasure.
“Alright, one more target to go” Ren said.
“Ugh, don’t remind me,” Morgana said.
“Hey the sooner we get this done, the sooner she’ll stop trying to kidnap you” Ren retorted.
“...I guess that’s true,” Morgana said.
They continued onward. On the next floor, they found a little shed. “What’s this?” Ryuji said. They walked in. “Huh. It looks like a place to relax.”
“Well, why don’t we?” Ren asked.
“Yeah, this feels just like a safe room in a palace” Ann assessed.
“Exactly!” Morgana said.
“Well, I could certainly use a break,” Sumire said.
“As could I,” Yusuke added.
“Yeah, I could also use a break,” Jose said.
“Alright then, let’s take five” Ren said. She passed around different healing items to help everyone relax more. After some time had passed, Ren asked “Is everyone ready?” They all nodded. “OK. Then let’s go.” They all got up and continued down Mementos. After a bit of travel, they found the last portal for today and jumped through it.
Morgana gulped. “Well… That’s her shadow… Ryoko Aino…”
“You gonna be alright?” Ryuji asked.
“I dunno…” Morgana said.
“Don’t worry Mona, we’re here for you!” Ann cheered.
“...Yeah!” Morgana answered. “Thanks Panther!”
“Huh, so Mona responds well to Panther. Fascinating” Jose said.
“Indeed” Yusuke added on.
“Well… uh…” Morgana said, embarrassed.
“Hm hm” Sumire giggled. “I think it’s cute.”
“Oh… um… hm…” Morgnana pondered.
“Anyways, we have a job to complete” Ren reminded them.
“Right,” Morgana said, getting focused. “According to the guy who saved me, I’m not the first cat she’s stolen.”
“We need to put a stop to this!” Ann said, raising her voice.
They walked forward to meet her. “Hey!” Morgana yelled, getting her attention.”
Ryoko looked at him. “Snowball? Snowball! You came back! I thought that mean old man took you from me, but you’re here now!”
“OOOOOOOOOOK. That’s weird” Ryuji remarked.
Ren stepped forward. “Are you the one who’s been stealing cats?” she demanded.
“Stealing? No. I’m protecting them” Ryoko answered.
“How does stealing them protect them?” Jose asked.
“There are so many dangers out there for Snowballs out there,” Ryoko explained. “I keep them safe.”
“Well, whatever you think you’re doing, you need to stop!” Ann shouted.
“What?! You… You want all those Snowballs to be in danger?!” Ryoko asked. “NO! I CAN’T LET THAT HAPPEN!” She morphed into a Nekomata. “I’LL PROTECT THE SNOWBALLS WITH MY LIFE!”
Ren stood her guard. “Attack!” She wouldn’t attack Morgana, which was fairly helpful for their effort to take her down. However, she was fairly strong, and the others who took the brunt of her attack felt it. Still, they came out victorious in the end.
After she had been defeated, Ryoko panicked. “NO! I won’t let you!”
“Um, what’s goin’ on?” Ryuji asked.
“I’d like to know for myself,” Yusuke added.
“Hmm. Maybe if we just talk to her…” Ren said. “Hey!” She got Ryoko’s attention. “We want to protect ‘Snowball’ here too. So, could you tell us how you do it?”
“What? No” Ryoko argured. “I’m the only one who can!”
“And why is that?” Ren continued.
“Because!” Ryoko screamed. “Because… it happened to me before… But I won’t let it happen again!”
“Wait before?” Ann said.
“I won’t let Snowball get hit by that truck again!” Ryoko shouted.
“Oh. I see” Ren said.
“Therefore, I will protect all Snowballs!” Ryoko continued.
Sumire stepped up. “You… You really loved Snowball, didn’t you?”
“Of course!” Ryoko said.
Sumir began tearing up. “Well, this kitty here belongs to my friend here. She’d be really sad if she lost him like you lost Snowball.” Ryoko was stricken. “I know how hard it is to lose someone. But the answer isn’t to pass your pain to others, or wallow in it endlessly. You have to move on. I know it’s tough, but Snowball would want that, right?”
Ryoko was crying. “I… I… I… SNOWBALL! I’m so sorry Snowball! I’ll free all of those other kitties and make it up to you! I’m sorry!”
Sumire giggled. “I think he’ll forgive you.”
“Yeah!” Ryoko said. “Thank you.” Ryoko faded and Ren took her treasure. With that, they left that area and continued down Mementos.
Soon after, they arrived at another door. “Huh. We reached another door” Ryuji said.
Ren tried to open it, but to no avail. “Just as I thought.”
“We’ll need to steal Madarame’s treasure to open this door,” Ann said.
“I see,” Yusuke said. “If we are to continue, then I guess we should do it posthaste!”
“I’m not sure rushing this is a good idea,” Jose said. “I mean, after everything we’ve been through today, I’m a little tired.”
“Yeah, and besides, who knows if there’ll be a door later on we’ll need to steal someone else’s treasure to open” Ryuji added.
“Huh. I see” Yusuke said.
“I think pacing ourselves is a good idea,” Sumire pointed out. “If you overwork yourself in ballet, you’ll get nowhere. I’m assuming the same thing applied to Phantom Thieving.”
“Well said” Ren said. “Besides, we’ve change three hearts as well. I say all around today has gone well. Let’s head up.” They went back upstairs and went up through Mementos.
On their way back, Yusuke asked “By the way Violet. Is there a chance that I could sketch you fighting sometime?”
“Wha-What?!” Sumire said, embarrassed.
“Well, it’s just, your fighting style is so expressive” Yusuke said. “I’d like to capture that on canvas.”
“Say, how did we all get so good at fighting?” Ann said.
“Well, about that,” Morgana said. “It’s not like you’re bad at fighting, but the metaverse amplifies any skill you have, or allows you to give yourself one if you aren’t adept to fighting.”
“I see,” Yusuke said. “I guess that’s why I seem to fight with grace and precision.”
“So, why do you fight stylistically Violet?” Ren asked.
“Oh, well, um,” Sumire began. “I guess I’ve just been incorporating my ballet routine into my fighting moves.”
“I see. How marvelous” Yusuke said. “Maybe I can come and watch you perform.”
“Yeah… Provided someone else doesn’t catch your eye…” Sumire lamented.
“I beg your pardon?” Yusuke said.
“Yeah, Violet’s kind of going through some things right now,” Ren said.
“I guess I should explain,” Sumire said. She described what had happened with her sister and her self-esteem.
“Ah! My apologies” Yusuke said. “Forgive me.”
“It’s fine. You didn’t know” Sumire said.
“Still, I commend your efforts,” Yusuke said. “You seem like one of the hardest working people I know, and your fighting shows your spirit. If you ever get to peak performance again, please contact me so I can sketch you.”
“Oh. Well. That sounds nice” Sumire said. They reached the exit, and left Mementos for the day.
Once they got home, Ren was changing into her pajamas, while Morgana was once again on the windowsill. “Ah, it’s nice to be back up here” Morgana said. “The stars, the breeze, the city. Man, it’s so good to feel.”
Ren finished changing.. She walked up to Morgana. “You’ve only been in hiding since this morning.”
Morgana turned to her. “I know,” he said. “But it got me thinking. People find themselves in situations like mine everyday. And it’s up to us to save them.”
“Ah, so that’s what this is about” Ren said.
Morgana nodded. “I know people suffer, but feeling it is a whole other thing. I feel like I have a better understanding of why you fight so hard.”
Ren was taken aback. “What do you mean?”
“Well, I’m just sayin’...” Morgana said. “Between getting arrested and all that stuff with Kamoshida, I can understand wanting to protect people from situations like that.”
“Huh. I see” Ren said. She picked up Morgana. “You’re one insightful kitty, you know that?”
Morgana grinned. “Yeah, but I’m YOUR insightful kitty.”
“Awww” Ren said. She rubbed her cheek on Morgana’s. Morgana purred. “Well, goodnight.”
“Goodnight” Morgana said, leaping down. He curled up while Ren went under the covers. Both were asleep within five minutes.

Shumako Week, Day Two: Rumour Has It
@shumakoweek Day Two: Power Couple
AO3
Summary: When word gets about Makoto and Ren’s relationship, the Student Council President earns a surprising reputation.
A/N: My first foray into the Persona 5 fandom! I’ve been wanting to contribute something for awhile now and when I saw that Shumako week was coming up, I jumped at the chance.
Took a bit of inspiration from the P5 Manga Anthology for this one. There's a chapter where one of the student council members sees Makoto reading a weapons catalogue in the library and freaks out, thinking being friends with Ren/Ann/Ryuji has turned her into a delinquent.
Anyway, hope you enjoy!
.
"Did you hear? Apparently Niijima-senpai and that transfer student are dating."
"Huh? F- for real? How do you know?"
"I heard from Takao-senpai they've been spending time together in the Red Light District."
"What? But why would the Council President want to date that punk criminal?"
"He must be blackmailing her or something. There's no other way."
"I dunno. Have you noticed that lately, Niijima-senpai seems kind of... scary?"
"Huh? What do you mean?"
"I mean, she's always been strict. But nowadays, if she gets pissed off, she gets this crazy, murderous glare in her eyes. I swear, I never noticed how intense they are before."
"No way. Y-you mean, she's been influenced?"
"I guess. She'd have to be kind of a badass to be able to keep a criminal like that in line."
.
The rumours of her and Ren had spread through Shujin like wildfire.
While Makoto was familiar with the gossip shared among students, it had been some time since she'd been part of the conversation.
She could feel their eyes lingering as she walked through the grounds. An uncomfortable weight, bearing upon her spine. Whenever she glanced over her shoulder, they would slip away, hidden among the crowd.
She was worried, initially, that maybe they’d been found out.
That their circle of friends, past victims of Kamoshida and Kaneshiro, would have stood out as suspicious. After all, it had been relatively easy for her to confirm her suspicions back when she’d first investigated the group. If their connection to Yusuke was uncovered, it would only incriminate them further.
But, from what she'd heard from Ann and Ryuji, there had rumours about her before. Talk of her playing teacher's pet to Principal Kobayakawa or overlooking Kamoshida's abuse.
They'd never stood out to her, though. Perhaps she'd never cared to pay attention.
These days, with their time spent regularly scouring palaces, Makoto, was more in tune to her surroundings, having to be prepared for the moment a shadow might strike them by surprise. Suddenly, she was conscious of even the slightest whisper of her name carrying from a stranger's lips. The lowered voices, and subtle glances should have been easy to ignore. Yet, as the rumours continued to spread, they bled together, building into an overwhelming cacophony.
"I heard that she's part of a biker gang."
"One of the council members said that they saw knuckle dusters in her bag."
"They were at the Red Light District- She got into a fight with some Host."
Makoto sighed, it seemed she was earning herself something of a reputation.
She'd like to think her time in the Metaverse, awakening to Johanna, had changed her. She was more confident, carrying herself with a sense of purpose and belonging she hadn't realised was lacking before.
And as much as Makoto wanted to pass these rumours of as exaggeration; that this change in her was all the students were noticing; she knew there was a thread of truth to each of them.
She had been keeping a catalogue from Untouchables on her, wanting to take of the customisable weapons Iwai-san offered. There was a chance it had slipped out doing one of her Council meetings. She'd also been studying up on Motorcycle handbooks, hoping to one day get a real licence. That likely had sparked the biker gang rumour.
Still, upon learning that the rumours weren't as dangerous as she'd initially feared, Makoto decided it would best to leave them be. She had more important matters to focus on, after all.
Making her way across the second floor, Makoto noticed the Newspaper Club's member lingering outside one of the classrooms. Remembering that she had some business with her, Makoto approached.
"Excuse me?"
"Eh? Niijima-senpai?!" She said as she turned, eyes bulging and face ashen.
"Sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if you might be able to submit expenditure report for the Newspaper Club to me today?"
The girl wilted beneath her, like a weed shriveling in the sunlight.
"O- of course, Niijima-senpai. I can- I can fetch it right now!"
Before Makoto had a chance to reassure her that wasn't necessary, she had turned and practically sprinted off in the opposite direction.
Under normal circumstances, Makoto would have reprimanded her for running in the halls. Instead, she could only watch, expression wrinkled in confusion.
"Well, you certainly seem popular." A voice teased, a figure stepping out from Classroom 2-E.
"Ren?"
His gaze shifted down the hall, just catching the retreating form of the Newspaper Club member.
"You know, for someone interested in Journalism, you'd think she'd actually take the time to try and fact check some of these rumours." He smirked.
"I would have thought that after everything with Kamoshida this kind of gossip would die down." Makoto sighed, fingers kneading against her temple.
“How did you ever get anything done with this constantly following you around?"
Ren shrugged, adjusting his bag over his shoulder. "You get used to it."
"Not me. There's no way I'll be able to focus in the library today. Not with all that chatter."
Ren's eyes softened, the subtle curve of his lips lighting up his features.
"Need a study partner? We could always use Leblanc."
The offer awoke a flood of tempting memories for Makoto. Thoughts of perfectly brewed coffee and pop quizzes in the attic, braced against a warm, familiar chest. Lips peppering her with soft kisses for every question she answered correctly. The ever-present, unspoken promise of studying more outside of what was in their textbooks.
Thought it best to study at home, where she could devote work with all her attention. Lately her mind tended to wander, often questioning the purpose of her education. The cafe, and a certain barista, offered a far more welcome distraction.
Her eyes closed, a contented smile gracing her lips.
"I'd like that."
"It's a date, then."
No sooner had the words left his throat, then the Newspaper Club President came running back towards them, stack of papers in hand. Her head was bowed as she held them out, eyes never quite meeting Makoto's.
"Here you go, Niijima-senpai! I'm sorry for taking so long!"
"O- oh. No, that's... fine, really." Makoto assured, taking them. "Thank you."
On the plus side, it seemed she wouldn’t have to spend as much time chasing up club members. Ren watched with a knowing glint in his eye, as if reading that she had found enjoyment in her new reputation. She could feel the heat working its way through her cheeks.
"Anyway,” Makoto cleared her throat. “I'll just drop these off and we can go."
"Sure, lead the way." Ren said, slipping his arm around her waist.
The gesture came naturally and was one that Makoto had grown intimately familiar with. Perhaps too much so, as she leaned reflexively into him, moulding to the warmth and shape of his body.
That they were in school and not the private alcove of Leblanc’s attic; were such affection was normally reserved; drifted momentarily from her mind, as they moved through the halls.
It wasn’t until they stopped before the Student Council Room that she realised, his touch suddenly searing through her like a blast of Zio.
"Ren, what are you doing?" Makoto exclaimed, pushing him away. Her eyes darted frantically across the hall.
"What?" Ren asked, feigning innocence. "I mean, it's already out in the open. There's much not much point in trying to hide anymore."
"S- still, I-."
Her voice broke into a soft, strangled cry as Ren slipped back into her line of sight, with a swiftness and grace she'd normally attribute to Joker. His face lingered inches away from her own, grey eyes piercing and voice a low rumble.
"I've been waiting all day for this." He uttered, his hand snaking around the back of her neck and pulling her lips against his own.
Makoto was overcome by the urge to push him away. Yet she found her thoughts dissipating under the soft pressure of his kiss. Her hands instead bunching in the lapels of his blazer, shifting upward to tousle his hair.
She had been waiting too.
In their private moments together, she had been steadily growing bolder and more comfortable in expressing her feelings. This seemed to be the next, logical step.
While she felt self-conscious about the gathering crowd of gawking students, the knowledge that their relationship was out in the open brought her some semblance of relief. The realisation that they would no longer have to worry, or constantly be on guard, wary of where they were. Instead, simply being able to surrender to one another without a care.
That was, until…
"It was true after all!"
"Do you see that! Miss President is blushing!"
Pulling away from Ren, Makoto turned towards the offending voices, levelling them with a menacing glare; one normally only reserved for unfortunate shadows.
"Is there something I can help you with?"
"Oh, shit!"

Thieves in Inaba: Kou and Daisuke put their heads together to escape! Will they succeed? Or do you think the Persona group will find them first?
Thieves In Inaba Part 36
Heat…and the sound of water moving. Kou starts to open his eyes slowly, only to find himself in a steam filled room. Holding his head and breathing heavyly due to the steam, he starts to look around.
“Where…am I?” He suddenly winces and holds his left ankle. It’s hurting like hell, as if he just had a dog bite him. “Ngh!”
A door slides open on the other side of the room as a humanoid figure starts to walk to Kou. Due to the steam however, it’s hard for the basketball player to tell if it’s friend or foe.
“You’re awake.” It says, voice echoing though the room as it continues to walk to him.
“W-who are you?!” He reaches for something to defend himself with, finding a mop to be his only weapon.
“Come on man, it’s me.” The figure breaks through the steam, revealing it to be Daisuke. Kou gives a sigh of relief.
“Were you holed up in that room over there then?” He asks, struggling to stand up with his bite.
“Yeah. This place doesn’t look a thing like Amagi…so where did those wolf things bring us?” The two look around and sigh.
“It’s too hot in here, it’s obviously a Sauna but…why would we be here?” Kou mumbles. “Well..we should try to get out of here. Who knows how many of those people got hurt. We need to get back there.”
“But you’re hurt aren’t you? We shouldn’t try to push it.” Daisuke looks at his friends injury with deep concern.
“There’s a chest right there.” Kou points. “Maybe it has something in it?”
Walking carefully, Kou opens it to find medicine and a ball of some sort. The duo seem confused.
“Random medicine in a random place….do you think it’s safe?” Daiskue asks as Kou looks it over.
“It says…apply to injury as needed..results work instantly…”
“I don’t trust it, that’d mean it’s like…magic medicine. Isn’t that impossible?”
Kou looks at his friend with a tired expression. “We were kidnapped by shadowy wolf monsters, dragged to a crazy sauna and we found out that a bunch of people we went to high school with might have some sort of supernatural powers. I’m willing to trust a lot more crazy crap right now.”
With that, he applies the medicine to his injury as it heals it completely. The duo just had to make their escape now.
“What would be the best way to break out of here, man?”  Kou is already picking up the mop again, leaving Daisuke confused. “Uh, did you hear me?”
“Yeah, I did. But all these doors are super weak right? If we can break them down, then we can break outta here.” He readies his mop to throw it like a Javelin.
With careful aim he throws it…only to miss entirely.
“Why don’t you try the ball?” Daisuke throws it to him and Kou catches it with ease.
“Worth a shot I guess..” Again with careful aim, he throws the ball and it crashes through the door with ease, giving them access to a hallway.
“YES!”
“Let’s hang on to this ball, it might be a better weapon then that lame ass mop.”
The two make their way through the Sauna, hiding from shadows patrolling the area as they go along. But the way to the ground floor from where they were was going to be a long trek, especially since the heat of the sauna was getting to them both..
Elsewhere in the TV World, a hold up is taking place. Ren has Akechi at gunpoint as the other members of his group stand with them, ready to back him up.
“Talk. Why are you here, and how the hell did you make it out of Shido’s Palace?” Ren’s eyes are intense and serious, a stark contrast to his normal cocky mannerisms as Joker.
Akechi returns the demand with a small sigh, pulling back enough of his shirt to reveal several gunshot wounds.
Naoto looks closely, and her eyebrows raise. “These shots all missed the heart by a very small margin….”
“Exactly. I was all prepared to die at that moment, but somehow…someway..I didn’t.” He fixes his shirt as he speaks.
Mishima wavers a bit, unsure if he should lower his weapon or not. “So you survived  several gunshots, yet you didn’t make your appearance back in Tokyo?”
“Had I made my status of being alive public, I would have been hunted down and killed before I could testify against Shido, I hope you realize this.” Akechi shakes his head.
“…lower your weapons everyone.”
“Well, if this scary as shit interrogation session is over, can we move on to our first dungeon?” Youske asks. “Yo Rise, have you pinpointed anyone in any of them yet that seem to be alive?”
“Yes actually.” She responds, her persona already in use to track movement.
“Awesome! Which one?”
“The Sauna.”
The color from Yosuke’s face drains…as does Yu and Kanji. None of them look too keen on heading in there.
“Ahaha…on second thought…Ren is there anything else you need to question Akechi on? I don’t mind if we-”
“Oh will you just grow a pair?” Adachi rolls his eyes.
Minato sighs, shaking his head, “Let’s just go. Be prepared to be in there for a long time everyone…”
The group moves out, immediately greeted by the heat and steam. They all have trouble navigating the area. Eventually getting themselves lost.
“Yo, didn’t you all like…go through this shit already? Why the hell are we lost then?!” Ryuji quietly yells.
“One: this place brings back uncomfortable memories, Two: it’s been a few years, and Three: this place changes it’s layout every time!” Yosuke responds at the same volume.
“Hmm…so it’s like Mementos…” Ren nods as he looks around.
But as the group tries to get their bearings, a shadow roars nearby.
“Yeah, take this!”
Yu looks up to the source of the voices. “Is that…Kou?” Yu draws his Katana from it’s seethe. “Let’s move!”
The group runs to the source, finding Kou and Daisuke fighting eight shadows…but they both look worn out from the over exertion and the heat.
“Yu? How…did you get here?” Kou asks, clearly close to dropping.
“It’s a long story but, why don’t you take five? We’ll take over from here.” With that the Shadows engage the Persona users in combat.
The sports duo watches as they all fight, amazed when Yu summons Izanagi to cut through a shadow with ease.
“Man…these guys act like this is nothing…” Daisuke observes. “How’d they even get these powers huh?”
Akechi cuts clean though a shadow with his sword. “Please, these shadows aren’t even worth my time.”
“Yo Crow! Why don’t you try to take control of a shadow?” Ryuji calls out, blocking a few strikes.
“I can try…COME, LOKI!” He attempts to take control of a shadow, but suddenly grabs his chest in pain. “Ngh! W-What the hell?”
Mishima shakes his head. “Seems he can’t for some reason.” The new persona user fires a shot at a shadow, missing it.
“We don’t have time to rely on abilities that aren’t instant. We’re running the risk of loosing our civilians here!” Mitsuru states. “Just keep fighting the old fashioned way and we’ll be fine.”
The fighting rages on, with more Shadows appearing to assist along the way, getting stronger and stronger each time.
“This isn’t getting us anywhere!” Ren dropkicks a shadow in annoyance. “What can we do to speed this up?!”
Yu suddenly has an idea. “Ren, Minato…remember our sparing match earlier?” The other two look to him as he smirks, returning the expression.
“We’re in a tight area…so this could be risky…but let’s try it.” Minato laughs a bit.
The trio begin to summon their main Persona at the same time.
“Orpheus!”
“Izanagi!”
“Arsene!”
At once, Fire lightning and curse fuse into one attack, striking the shadows down and paralyzing them. This leaves them open for addional attacks by the rest.
“I’ll be damned…seems you kids aren’t useless after all.” Adachi laughs as he finishes a few shadows off.
Soon the hallway is shadow free. But Kou and Daisuke passed out during the conflict. Mishima runs to them and checks them, looking for any sort of injuries.
“Are they…okay Yuki?” Youske asks, kneeling down beside them.
“Heat exhaustion…who knows how long they’ve been in here. Fighting..running…it’d tire anyone out in these conditions.” He tries to lift Kou up, and manages to just barely.
“We’ll need to get them somewhere safe to treat them…” Naoto states. “The training hall is the only safe place we have however….”
“We’ll need to make that our home base for now…” Makoto sighs, standing near Akihiko as he lifts Daisuke up.
“Mona? Can you be our transport back?” Ren asks.
The cat simply nods in response as they all start to head out of the steamy bathhouse.
But a presence is following them as they head out. Minato looks behind himself briefly.
“….”

25 - Go forward, do not stray
Fictober day 25 - almost to the end! I’m tired, phew.
Fandom: Persona 5 Pairing: P5 protagonist/OC
Possibly contains spoilers for the month of October in the game and beyond.
Masterpost
The Phantom Thieves dashed through the halls of the Palace as a pack of Shadows skirted their tails. Security levels steadily rose, catching the attention of even more foes as they raced around the corners.
“Why’re there so many traps in this damn place?!” Skull yelled. “This is some messed up bull, man!”
“Nothing we can do about it now! Save your breath for running!” Mona dismissed.
Joker wondered how much longer they could go on. From what he could remember, the last safe room was still quite a ways off, and certain routes were blocked off due to high Shadow saturation. With security levels so high, they couldn’t risk running into too many enemies at once.
They rounded into a hallway that was thankfully empty. Mona hushed the other thieves, forcing them into corners that would help them hide. Their pursuers thankfully fell for the ruse, and after a few moments of waiting they slowly emerged.
“Oracle, what’s the status on the safe room?”
“Still a ways off,” she admitted. “And we’ve got a lot of Shadows in the way. We could fight our way through them but…”
Everyone fell into uneasy silence at the prospect. Joker could tell they were tired, but without a safe room he wasn’t comfortable staying in one place too long for everyone to recover.
“Hold on. Oracle, can you pull up a map of the area for me?” Malefica pitched in.
A holographic map materialized before her. She pointed at one spot on the map, near their location. “Look at how this room branches. If we plan this out right, we could split the Shadows apart to our advantage or draw the majority of them off.” She disliked the idea--the last time they did something similar, the result nearly gave her a heart attack--but they were short on options.
“The safe room is right over here, so when we get here at this fork, one or two people can break off and lead them away, while the rest can take this path to safety. The way it runs, the bait can loop back anyway so we’re not entirely throwing someone to the sharks.”
“How are you sure that they’ll split the way you want?” Joker asked.
“Well, if we bait with one person right away, they’ll most likely send a bunch of Shadows after them first. Given enough time to stall, the rest of the group should be able to slip under the radar just long enough to take this back to the safe room with minimal reinforcements. And with the way this other path goes, the bait can loop back around on their own later anyway.”
The thieves glanced at each other uneasily. What other choice did they have?
“This is my plan, so I’ll volunteer as the bait.”
“Absolutely not,” Joker interjected.
Malefica raised an eyebrow. “Why  not? I know the layout of the Palace well enough. We need someone smart and quick enough to maneuver around all those Shadows. Not to mention at the moment out of all us, I’ve got the most stamina left in me. If I get cornered, I can find a way out.”
“I can--”
“You need to be with the rest of the gang to make sure everything goes according to plan. Last time you were bait because it was necessary, but this isn’t the same. As our leader you need to be where the rest of them are. I work perfectly fine on my own.”
He made a face, clearly displeased. But there was no time to argue; each passing second here meant a greater chance of being found. They hashed out a few more details before rushing into action.
She went on ahead, using as much of the Palace’s interior to her advantage. Luck was on her side, and the large hub room ahead had the greatest concentration of Shadows. Malefica ascended the walls, carefully balancing on the thin ledges running along them and making no effort to hide herself. From below, a Shadow called out, and they started swarming. The witch ran and leaped, swinging from a small chandelier that gave her just enough momentum to land at the exit at the other side of the room. Blowing a quick raspberry at her new pursuers, she dashed out.
With the room cleared, the rest of the thieves slowly filed in. Joker spearheaded the formation, making sure there were no lingering foes. As the rest left the room, he glanced in the direction Malefica ran, tense with worry.
On her end, the lone thief darted in and out of various rooms as she continue to lead around her hunters. In the real world, her job involved chasing other criminals. A small part of her still found the reversal rather hilarious. Just a little bit longer, she thought. A little more time before Oracle to send her a signal that they were all safe.
She wheeled a corner only to be confronted by the sudden appearance of a Shadow. Snarling, it burst into its other form, ready for a fight. With the horde of Shadows behind her, Malefica had little choice but to buckle down for what she hoped to be a quick match.
Before she could make the first strike, a spray of ice bloomed on her opponent, freezing it in place. Startled but refusing to let this chance pass, she launched a lightning bolt, shattering the creature. Malefica pushed forward, wondering what had just happened.
The answer nearly barreled right into her at an intersection. A black coat flashed as another wave of ice pierced the horde behind her. Joker snatched her from behind a wall and began pulling her down a hallway.
“What the hell, man?!” she yelled. “You just ruined the whole plan! What are you doing here?”
“What, no thank you for pulling you out of that?”
“I can handle myself! You’re not even running the right way, for fuck’s sake!”
Wrenching her wrist from his grasp, Malefica snagged the end of his coat and yanked him into another room. Quickly, she bolted the door shut, and within seconds she could hear the cries of Shadows scratching on the other side. Unable to curb her anger, she wheeled on Joker.
“Are you serious? Now I have to find a new route thanks to your dumb ass! And you’ve got a another herd of those things on your tail which will make it harder to shake off!”
“Did you really expect me to just stand by and let you run from these things on your own?” he yelled back.
“Yes! Because I expected you to have faith in me!” Malefic pinched the bridge of her nose. Frustration would not help her here. “Please tell me the others made it to the safe room, or I will honestly kick your ass right here.”
“I left right when they got to it. They’re fine.”
“Alright… Alright, that’s one thing that’s gone right at least.”
The door groaned, and they could already see it splintering. There was a door on the other side of the room that was still open; lucky for them there didn’t seem to be too many Shadows on that side.
“Okay hotshot, there’s still a way out at least. Shadows can’t get around this room to that side because of the way the Palace is set up. Looks like we can--”
There was a loud crack as a Shadow ripped open a hole through the door. Malefica cursed: they had less time than she thought.
“Listen,” Joker called. “I messed up, I’ll own up to that. Why don’t you go on up ahead while I hold them off for a little bit? I can catch up later.”
She looked at him as if he’d grown a second head. “What are you, crazy?! Hell no! We are not doing this again!”
“I mean, doesn’t my experience mean I’m the best candidate?” he smiled wryly. Despite the screeching coming from the other side of the disintegrating door, he pulled her into a tight embrace. “Can’t leave you alone like this. I’ve got some energy to spare, so just this once, let me take care of it.”
Malefica quieted. She returned the hug, squeezing him tight. “Fine. Fine. Do what you want. Go on. Don’t hesitate, don’t stray from the path.”
He smiled. “I won’t.”
“...Is what I would have said last time. I’m sorry, Joker. But I’m not doing this again.”
She pulled away, summoning Elphaba to her side. The green witch swooped down and spun, striking Joker with the end of her broom and flinging him out the open door. Malefica slammed the doors shut before he could recover, and the last thing she heard was his anguished plea.
The thief took a deep breath. The other door continued to crack and break down, and several Shadows began reaching through the gaps and clawing at her. She turned to face them, back pressed against the door she’d just shut. Her fingers drummed against the flat surface as she calculated her next move.
“Okay, you ugly little shits. Let’s get back to business, yeah?”

I want you to imagine a situation for a sec, so close your eyes and imagine
It’s late March, two months away from your high school graduation. You’ve been a part of a friend group in high school that you’ve cherished for three years, and now you’re faced with the fact that you’re all going to pretty much be going your separate ways. You’ll see each other, but it’ll never be the daily after school hang outs again. Not only that, your relationship with a girl who had basically been by your side for your hardest moments in the past year, someone who defended you and loved you, just ended, and now that relationship along with various others have just ended in the rockiest fashion possible despite you trying your best. Along with all of that, you got yourself with a fandom that’s basically spit you out and kicked you around, called your ideas garbage and basically made you feel like shit because of your race, gender and sexuality. All of this you have to deal with as you also face the possibility of moving out of your apartment, the place you’ve called home for 17 and a half years because your mom wants a change of scenery and onset depression that’s quickly becoming more and more severe by the day.
That was me a year ago, and truth be told I had never felt more alone and lower than at time. I had come to this site to try and escape that, and it worked for the most part, but really it was just something that was always nagging and there, and no matter what I did I just couldn’t escape it. I didn’t wanna get out of bed, my personal health and hygiene dropped, and I was really a shell of myself. I couldn’t do anything right it felt like, and I felt like there was no one to really help me. I started escaping more to anime, music and video games as a result, and a lot of old insecurities popped up and just left me a mess.
Then, one day after school with my friends I accidentally dug up my old PS Vita, the white one that you got if you got the Assassin’s Creed bundle. I made a remark that I hadn’t played it in years, and a friend of mine who had graduated the year before said he knew some good games, and literally the first thing that came out of his mouth was Persona 4 Golden. I had heard of Persona, but I never actually knew what it was or anything. It seemed so foreign and just out there that it had never came up on my radar, so he immediately dragged me on a 15 minute walk to the nearest GameStop and grabbed the one copy of P4 Golden that they had in stock. He even went out of his way to buy it for me, a $40 game for a dead console. Now I wouldn’t really make a big deal out of this stuff, but this was one of my friends who never really had a lot of money on him. He was always saving his money up, so the fact that he was willing to shell out the money for me like that meant he was serious. So, we went back to my place, and I put in the game.
The opening title played, Shadow World, and that colorful opening played. I always make it a thing to watch the opening on my first playthrough when I play a game, and this game was no exception. I remember liking the visuals, but there was one person that caught my interest right off the bat. There was a person who was doing a little dance with a trash can, and at the time I thought that was really funny. I read his name, and it just said Yosuke. I looked on the cover for him, and I said to my friend “He kinda looks like me”, and that ensued a bunch of jokes and a short nickname for a while. Anyways, I remember because of this I was really interested to learn more about him, and going into this game knowing nothing I didn’t know when I’d meet him. Luckily for me, he was the first person I met in the game (or at least one of the first). I remember him crashing into that trash can and just Yu not helping, and him getting kicked in the balls by Chie after not returning her ‘Trial of the Dragon’  in one piece. I thought this was really funny, since the dude was kind of a down on his luck dork who meant well, and it was something I could really relate to.
However, as I got further into those first few hours of the tutorial and everything, I learned more about him. His full name was Yosuke Hanamura, and he was the son of the man who owned the big chain mall in town, Junes, the one the MC’s character sings the jingle to whenever it’s on T.V. He was voiced by Yuri Lowenthal, the same VA who voiced Simon the Digger in Gurren Lagann, a favorite of mine, and he had a crush on a cute girl named Saki. However, his crush ended up being the first victim in what would become a string of murders in Inaba, and he wanted to find out the truth of what happened to his dearly beloved. So into the TV World they go, and there Yosuke finds out that not only did Saki not like him back, but she outright hated him and resented him since his father’s business stole business away from her own family’s. He hears her talk about her hatred toward him, and also has to come face to face with his Shadow, his true self. We find out that he’s actually depressed and hates life for the most part. He moved to Inaba not too long ago, and he felt alone and isolated because he was from the city. He wanted people to like him, and he tried his damnest to feel like an equal to people, including the person who would become his best friend in the MC. But, there he was, hating life and always feeling like a burden to those around him and wanting to isolate himself from others because he didn’t feel like an equal.
I’m not a man of god or anything really, but this felt like a sign or something. I never had related so hard to a character in my life before, and it was enough that I actually found myself crying at the end of learning about him and the two of you agreeing to solve the murders.
So I went on and played the rest of the game, with Yosuke being the first social link that I finished in the game. I saw him try and come to terms with his depression, realize that he now had a group of friends around him who accepted him, and that he’d always be considered an equal with his bro and partner. As I’m writing this, I’m still thinking about the raw emotion I felt seeing all of this for the first time and just tearing up about it. For a long time I changed my profile pic on Facebook to a picture of him, he was the character that really made me want to cosplay, something I had never even thought of before, and I ended up deciding to make him my face claim, something I still keep up to this very day. I remember I tried to get my hands on any type of merch for him, though I didn’t really find much until later on (like a partial yaoi manga with him and Yu, something I’ve read time and time again with no regrets~). Despite all of that, my love for Yosuke had ran deep at that point, so when I finished the game in the middle of August I cried once more. My time with him was done, and I would never really get that same feeling back like the first time I met him.
That now meant I had two weeks to play Persona 5, the first game I got on my PS4 after I rebought it due to selling it to get the Switch. I went into this game with high expectations, since everyone told me it was amazing. However, I still had my biases, like the fact that there wasn’t Yosuke in this game. So I sat down and decided that I was going to basically speed run this game for two weeks, trying my best to finish it before I went off to college. I worked basically from 7 in the morning to 5 in the afternoon, and the second I got home I’d basically play it until 2 in the morning. For two weeks, I went to work at a summer camp with five year olds in the blazing hot sun on five hours of sleep a night. It was an experience to say the least, one that kinda made me realize too how much I didn’t want to work there again, but I digress.
So I sat down and played this game for two weeks, got about 72 or so hours in and had to stop right at the final palace before I went to college. That being said, once more I was blown away by this game and it’s characters, but again someone had captured my heart, this time the lovely model Ann Takamaki. I could go on about how much I love her, but I’ve done that enough on here so you guys get the point. The Phantom Thieves of Hearts felt like a group of friends that I was a part of, and it just made me feel... so special. I can’t explain that feeling, but I felt like they were there with me all the time, and that no matter where I went or what I did they were going to support me with all their hearts, just like they had done for all of their friends in game too. It was a shame that my journey with them had to be on pause for four months, but regardless that feeling of belonging helped me fit into a new friend group at my university, ones that shared similar interests, treated me like an equal, and yes, even loved Persona as much as I did.
When December came and I was home for winter recess, I immediately picked back up Persona 5 to finish it. By now, I had gained new friends, especially a ton on here that had helped me a lot more with my own issues, and that meant I was ready to pick up and catch up with my other friends in Persona 5. I spent another 30 or so hours finishing up the game, and I remember finishing the game at 1 in the morning a few days after New Years Day. As I watched the credits role, I ended up crying even harder than I did with Persona 4. The entire journey was over, and it felt like I was saying goodbye to all of these friends I had made over the past few months, and that I wouldn’t see them again. Of course I would, but much like with Yosuke I wouldn’t have that same feeling. I sobbed in the middle of the night over nine characters and their friends leaving me, and I felt a pain in my heart that I seriously don’t feel all that much. It was so surreal to feel that type of way about pixels on a screen, but I felt it nonetheless.
And now, as I listen to the soundtracks of the two games that I played for days on end, I find myself thinking back on all of this. I can’t express what this series has meant to me, and how much it has contributed to me making friends, improving as a person and just really getting my life back on track. I know people probably don’t wanna read this, but I wanted to share it with all of you, because really I think it’s important. I hope you guys have something you all can gush about like I do, because it’s just super wonderful. Thanks to this series for just... everything. I seriously can’t express how much it’s played a part of my life for the past year.
Now, sad boy hours are over, and I’m going to grab a snack. I hope everyone’s having a wonderful night and are happy right now. I’m spreading some of my positive vibes toward all of you~ <3

Patra Me Patra
I wrote this, just to kick my writing muscles again. Then I thought, hey, maybe I should post this too at tumblr.
Oh well. Here goes. By the way, here’s the ao3 link.
1. Dizzy
The first time they were inflicted of Dizziness was during the battle against the manifestation of Oracle’s guilt in her own Palace. Majority of them had to rely on Oracle in order to prevent them from tumbling down the polished stone facade of the pyramid. Queen and Mona may have the skills to remove the ‘status effect’ but when they caught it, they were screwed. Hard.
Since most of their medicine and Patra Gems were blown away by the sad excuse of a sphinx, they have to make sure not to get hit by the Shadow’s attack. It was already difficult in ensuring they have the attention of the Shadow on the rest of the team while one of them was working on the ballista. Oracle can’t join much on helping them since majority of her skills were focused on analysis, environment manipulation and damage negation, and she was already concentrating on making sure another ballista would get reloaded after it has been used.
It was her Palace; her place, her own rules. The Shadow just have to deal with it, Oracle commented as she used her Persona’s ability to create a field around the team to negate the swipe from the Shadow.
Too bad she couldn’t remove the dizziness from their designated team healers. Queen and Mona’s healing skills can’t connect to them nor themselves, removing the ‘status effect’ that vastly hinders their own recognition. Add to the fact that with them getting dizzy, they would stumble on their own feet, making themselves an easy target for the Shadow to hit them, and most of their magic spells won’t connect to the flying sphinx, which was a necessary tactic to ensure its attention to them.
Thankfully, dizziness wore off about 2 minutes or so. After that experience, everyone agreed to have a Me Patra Gem on their pockets at all time and not to keep them on a bag tied around their waists.
2. Panic
She would never understand why Joker would always have Sandman ‘equipped’ whenever they are doing ‘heist requests’ from the site. Oh, she knew and fully acknowledged that Joker would always take the chance to have a bit more money. After all, it was for the good of the team since it was used to buy more medicine and ammo. Some were even used to buy protective gear that they wear underneath their get-ups.
Crouching, rolling, crawling, stumbling and climbing through the Otherworld can be harsh on their bodies, aside from the semi-mental/spiritual exhaustion they get after transporting out, that it would be very suspicious if somebody notices the bruises and scratches on their legs, arms, and knees. Not to mention, getting hit from the Shadows certainly hurt, enough to induce bruises and even deep cuts that would scar. Diarama could do so much, but scarring seemed to be out of its league. Reality ensues, she sometimes joke, earning a grimace from most of the team.
Still, she knew that Joker has lots of Personas that could do the job better than Sandman. And by lots, she meant tons. If she could list down the Personas their Leader could ‘equip’, she could make a catalogue of sorts for them, complete with background history and capabilities. After all, the Personas he used were usually the Shadows they encounter in the Otherworld and most, if not all, of the Shadows there were based on various stories in the real world.
Her own Palace, which was a pyramid, had a sphinx for crying out loud. And Queen even confided to her once that they fought Isis, an Egyptian goddess, in her Palace. If that wasn’t enough to convince anyone that the Shadows there were taking stories in the real world as a basis, then nothing else.
“Can you, at least, tell me why Sandman is the one you always call? Out of all the Personas you have, why him?” she asked through the mental connection she and the rest of Thieves have. Inside Necronomicon, she was safe from the Shadows; flying above the Thieves and scouting out the ever changing train tracks of Mementos, she always oversees the battle between the team and the Shadows that they would ran over on the way. “Panther, Skull and Fox are just standing there, watching like it’s another thing they got used to, but Queen, Noir and I are just as confused as the next Shadow next to you.”
“I just feel like it,” Joker replied, having Sandman blast another Tentarafoo at the hordes of Shadows around them. Some of the Shadows were already throwing out yen like it was candy and Mona and Skull were busy catching the coins and paper bills with bags made of questionable materials. It was akin watching somebody throwing dog treats at dogs at the side of the street. “Besides, these guys are flithy rich.”
A Shadow threw a Soma at Panther, which she easily caught and placed inside her own bag. “This is much easier than having to negotiate them in giving money.”
“Yeah,” Queen said, nodding as she punched a Shadow that seemed to have recovered and was running away from the team. Too bad it was right next to Queen and Queen was nothing but a very efficient member of the team. “Much easier. Some even think they could fight us after not giving into our demands.”
“My, my. You guys shouldn’t be too hard on them,” Noir commented with a tinge of a laugh in her voice, sitting on a bunch of cement blocks that were stacked in front of a row of coin lockers. “It’s already the 5th Tentarafoo round. Are you sure they even have more to throw, Joker?”
As if to answer Noir’s question, a Shadow threw a Dekaja and a Dekunda Gem at her, hitting her directly on her forehead. It took almost all of Oracle’s self preservation skills not to laugh.
“Oh, that’s it! Joker! Let’s end this!”
3. Brainwash/Marin Karin/Charm
It was like waking up. One moment she was facing a weird pink orb of energy from the winged Shadow and the next thing she knew, she was collapsing on her knees. Her breath was ragged and her arms were sore. Looking at her arms, she noticed they were tears on the catsuit her Persona bestowed on her as protection. She tried to get up but the soreness of her legs and knees were too much for her to endure, leading her to fall down again on the tiled floor of the Castle.
Suddenly, a wave of energy went through her, removing the soreness of her legs and arms. She could stand up now.
“Thanks Mona.”
“Next time, Panther, you have to evade that orb of energy.”
“Huh?” Did something happened while she was unconscious? It felt like she passed out from that pink orb. Judging from the state her body was in moments earlier, she had received quite a beating from that one attack.
“You attacked us, Panther! Look at Skull! He’s knocked out cold!”
“W-What?!” She turned towards Mona, who was behind her, and looked to where Mona was pointing at. Joker was tending to Skull, helping him sip a few drinks of soda and applying a few spreads of balms on his arms, magic flowing through his finger every spread. “You okay, Skull? What happened?”
“You happened,” he jokingly replied, smirking before he winced. Beside her, Joker muttered for Skull to keep his leg still. “Wow. Can’t believe you were that agile and fast, Panther. Not even Mona’s Energy Drops could hit you. Where did you even learned to twist that whip of yours?”
“What are you talking, Skull?” She looked around and sighed in relief. Mona was already at the corner of the corridor, looking out for any roaming Shadows. They already cleared the hallway they passed through of Shadows so it was safe for them. For now. “What did I do?”
“You were under the Shadow’s control, Panther,” Joker calmly stated as he pushed another can of soda for Skull to drink from. “I think that winged Shadow was a Succubus, since the one with red skin and bald head claimed to be an Incubus. Succubi are said to be tempters of men, though I’m confused why it targeted you since you’re, uh…”
“...oh no no no no. I’m not a guy, Joker. I’m 100% female! No dick, unlike you two!” She couldn’t believe just what Joker was insinuating at. Then it dawned to her. “Wait, I attacked you two? I-I… what?!”
“Can you tell us what happened on your side? You seem to be in control of yourself, back there, but we knew you wouldn’t attack us, regardless of any legitimate reason. Unless if Skull here have managed to, uh, I dunno, signed you up for a dating website...?”
“Oi!”
Her left eyelid twitched at Joker’s words but she calmed herself by slowly making deep breathes. “I felt like sleeping,” Panther said as she helped Joker in healing Skull’s bruises. While Mona has the knack for healing and her on magical damage, her own healing capabilities are sufficient for some quick fixes. In this case, additional aid for whatever type of medicine Joker applied on Skull. Surprisingly, it worked in tandem with Dia. “One moment I was looking at the incoming orb and the next, I was on the floor with my limbs sore like I’ve went through an entire exercise drill.”
“Sorry about that.” Skull looked down after he said it, a small frown taking over the smirk he had earlier. “I had keep you away from that Shadow. You were protecting it from getting hurt.”
She shook her head, applying a bit more Dia around Skull’s jaw. There was a very mean red, turning purple already, patch of skin under his jaw and it seemed Joker have missed it, favoring Skull’s legs and arms. “Stand still, okay? There’s one under your jaw. Looks so bad.”
“Hah. That’s nothing compared to the ones I’ve endured during my training.”
Ah. She forgot. Skull was their school’s star track member but… There’s a reason why it was a “was”. “Shut up. Don’t be stupid, alright?”
“Yeah,” Joker quipped from his area, patting Skull’s knee at the same time. “Can you stand up? We may have to retreat if it’s too much, Skull. You, Panther? Anything that’s hurting you there?”
“No, no. Mona’s Dia already done the job. But…” While the pain’s not there anymore, there was still a slight feeling soreness on her legs and arms that she can’t ignore. A slight feeling, so small she can intentionally dismiss, but it’s still there.
Sighing, Joker called Mona back to them, with the bobbly-head cat scampering towards them. “Let’s go back for now, guys. We all have to recover from that. And I’m also running low on medicine.”
Skull and her nodded, following Joker as he pulled out the map they have liberated from a guard’s outpost in the Castle. Although he was good in hiding his limp, she can tell that, like her, Skull can still feel the remaining pain from the attacks she had inflicted on him.
And was that a terrifying thought. She have been controlled by a Shadow and attacked her teammate, without even knowing she did so. It was like somebody replaced her at that moment with a robot and made her body do all those things. Panther shivered at the idea.
She vowed to get away as soon as she can when she saw that type of attack next time. The Shadows don’t have morals here, especially since there were at the Palace of a raging pervert.
Moments later, after they had reached the Safe Room and triggered the mechanism allowing the door to open a way to the entrance of the Castle, Carmen whispered in her ear of a spell that would render their enemies into slumber. And if the grin plastered on her face as they shifted back to the real world wasn’t any indication of her happiness, then the free food she had bought for her two teammates was.
4. Fear/Distress
“No! I can’t do it! T-That’s…!”
“Queen! Can you help Joker?! Oi, Joker! Get a grip!”
“No no no no no. Stop! Please! I promise I won’t do it again! Just please! Don’t come near me!”
“Crap! She’s out too! Mona, you?!”
“...”
“Oh for the love of- Panther!”
“...”
He turned to his side and saw two bodies on the floor, one lying face down and the other… yep, also lying down on the ground. And to think they were so close to the Safe Room shown on their map.
Panther was drooling on the ground, her hair scattered at the sandy, grainy stone platform they were on; Mona’s too-big-for-their-own-safety sword was at the side, collecting grains of sand from the ceiling, with its owner’s face on the ground. Queen was on her knees, covering her eyes from whatever thing she was seeing - a monkey-like Shadow carrying a book, looming over her with a curious expression. Joker - that rascal - was quivering behind an urn, clutching the knife he has on his hands and mumbling prayers of safety and pleas of forgiveness.
Skull wiped his face, trying to take away the fed-up expression he had on his face but ultimately failed afterwards. In one motion, he summoned Captain Kidd to rain down lightning bolts at the Shadows, hitting the monkey-like Shadow and several of the half-human-half-snakes ladies. He grimaced as the topless snake ladies shrugged off his (Captain Kidd’s) Mazio attack.
Snakes hate lightning, right? I saw a snake once slither away from an open wire at a zoo. Why doesn’t it work!?
The Shadow, noticing his momentary indecisiveness, attempted to strike him with its long, sharp tail but the sudden appearance of an exploding ice shard between them stopped it, simultaneously blasting Skull’s attacker back to its fellow Shadows and rendering their defenses open.
“Thanks a lot, Fox!” he called out behind him. “Your timing couldn’t have been better! Did you get the orb?”
The fox-shaped mask of Fox rattled, joining in his teammates’ nod of confirmation. Skull inwardly berated himself for coming up with the idea of splitting themselves in order to cover more ground. Sure, the two hallways were close enough for them to run to the other if they needed back-up, but it was too short to give any indication of trouble. Oh how wrong he was, even though Joker agreed that splitting up seemed to be a great idea at that time.
And now where did that idea got them too? Joker, quivering like a frightened kid, hiding behind his long, jagged, and sharp knife as if it was a barrier between him and the Shadows. Queen, quite in the same predicament as him, but instead, she was slowly crawling backwards, away from the Shadows while crying out protests, to the edge of the platform they were at. If they didn’t stopped her, she would fall down to the sinkhole they had swam out of earlier. Mona and Panther, out cold due to the ambush the Shadows had made to them, hitting their respective Persona’s weakness and slamming them to the wall, instantly removing them from the battlefield.
Fox and him were the only ones that were spared from the ambush since he and the Emperor of the Thieves were at the adjacent hallway, claiming the orb needed to open a closed-off pathway in the Pyramid. The two of them were fast enough - thanks to Fox’s Sukukaja spells - to get the needed item and reach the rest of their team.
“Is this another ‘status ailment’ I missed or this is new?” their katana-wielding member inquired, summoning Goemon again to cast Mabufu against the Shadows. Skull shook his head, earning a frown from their Bufu specialist. “I hope that we have a spare Me Patra Gem... Do we?”
“Nah, it’s all at Joker. Let’s clean this up and then we can help them up on their feet. Oi!” He then summoned Captain Kidd to appear behind Queen and nudge her forward, stopping her from falling down, while throwing a bomb at the Shadows, blasting them into dark mist.
Goemon then also came into existence, slamming his pipe on the ground and creating a shockwave that ended the remaining Shadows that survived Captain Kidd’s attack. With the Shadows gone, both Queen and Joker stopped their shivering and cried out simultaneous ‘What’ from their positions.
Sighing, Skull rushed to help Queen back on her feet while Fox to Joker. “You okay there now, Queen?” Even though Queen was still shaking slightly from whatever mind games the Shadow played at her earlier, she nodded and immediately went towards Panther and Mona, with Skull helping her at every step. “Are you sure you should be doing this? We still have items to-”
“No, let me. I can do this, okay?” Fox was already channeling magic to one of the prayer beads Joker brought to their heist one day, claiming it can wake up anyone knocked unconscious, and the power everyone can felt surged towards Mona, rousing their teammate up. “Let me.”
Skull let go of her hand and instantly, Queen knelt down to Mona’s level, her hands glowing from the Diarama she’s channeling to their still exhausted and weak teammate. Slowly, Mona seemed to get a hold of his bearings and noticed Panther down on the ground. Muttering a word of thanks to Queen, Zorro came into existence and woke Panther up with a burst of energy from Mona’s Persona. Queen also called out Johanna and white light surrounded Panther from her position, earning a groan of relief from their red-clad teammate.
With Queen and Mona helping each other in healing, Skull made his way to Panther who was quite far away from the rest of the team. Maybe she was flung too far? Probably. Smiling, he handed his hand to her, at which she grabbed and helped herself up. “Both Queen and Joker were shivering in terror when we came back. You know a thing about it?” he asked, since ‘status ailments’ were a thing Carmen and Panther seemed to have a knack in inflicting aside from their savage fire balls and torrents.
Well only two so far, a sleeping , a poison-inducing and a panicking spell. But she claimed Carmen sometimes tell her about the things she and the Shadows can inflict on their enemies.
“...Distress. Fear,” Panther said after a minute of silence. “If someone is backing off, it’s Fear and it’s much better than Distress. Fear can be taken away but Distress… Tell me, Skull. Who seemed to be glued on their position?”
“Joker,” he quickly answered, remembering their Leader crouching, with his knife acting as a shield or cover. “Is it… bad?”
“Distress is… hopelessness. They might want to kill themselves if taken too long, according to Carmen. And since Shadows are manifestations of thoughts, their presence constantly invokes the memories needed to power Distress.” Panther said all of that while her eyes were closed, concentrating on what her Persona was telling her. “I don’t want to see Joker kill himself or injured, Skull. Carmen tells me not to let him die or get unconscious too. Something about-”
“He gets his Personas from the Shadows we’re fighting. I don’t think it would do any good if he loses his control over those… masks of his, Panther.” And it was somewhat true. He could never shrug off the feeling their friend was setting himself as a sacrifice everytime they see him control a Shadow-turned-Persona instead of Arsène, his own Persona, Captain Kidd sometimes shout in his head.
“Yeah.” She then looked over herself and slowly applied Diarama over part of her bod, her hands also glowing the same light Queen had earlier and she used back in the Castle and the Museum. “Well, I guess we should watch out for him, huh.”
Skull looked to their Leader and smiled when Joker leaned his head on Fox’s shoulder for comfort, tears still flowing out of his eyes from what he can tell at his position. “We’re not the only ones looking out for him, you know.”
5. Rage
The feeling of absolute anger and mindless savagery overtook Panther, Skull and Mona, leaving him alone with his own mental faculties intact and untainted. Then again, the item Hamuko-senpai gave to him must have been responsible for his state of mind. And to think he was in that state earlier before Mona did what he had told him to do if he ever fell under what they had deemed to be ‘status ailments’, throwing a necklace with a small book accessory around his neck.
The Tome of Void, Hamuko-senpai claimed it to be, nullifies all types of status ailments, both physiological and psychological, due to its properties of being an ‘endless pit that would take in everything into it itself’. He wants to know more on how was she able to get her hands on the things she was giving to him, which had a very strange ability to nullify certain attacks and skills being thrown at them. Like the small flower charm that she had given to her, claiming it will help him in keeping out unwanted thoughts of others. Cryptic it seemed to be, it apparently blocks off being charmed or, what Skull sometimes call it, brainwashed.
Unfortunately, with him taking the protection, Mona was inflicted with the Rage-inducing attack of the Shiki-Ouji. After that, it all went down into chaos as both Skull and Panther were hit at the same time as they were avoiding Mona’s swings of his too-large-for-comfort sword. To add insult to injury, Shiki-Ouji nullifies physical attacks, turning Panther’s whips useless, along with Skull and Mona’s attacks, both from their respective weapons and firearms.
And he can’t even direct them with their minds fogged with mindless rage. Their defenses were wide open for the Shadow to retaliate, earning them with some grievous injuries that even though their bodies were already protesting, his teammates were still continuing the fruitless endeavor.
Joker quickly shuffled through his bag of medicine and see if there are any Me Patra Gems leftover. Hamuko-senpai gave him a bunch after noticing he was being sketchy during his job at the restaurant. And by sketchy, he meant by taking inventory of the number of medicine he had bought from Tae in the break room, thinking no one would notice him rearranging the balms of medicine according to strength value. And there were some of the strange ones that let them regain some bits of mental clarity in exchange of sudden feeling of body ache.
There he found the last of the Me Patra Gems, crushing one and the effect instantly went through him and the entire team. All three of them suddenly have a look of epiphany that the Shadow, noticing the end of their assault, cried out in anger and sent a flurry of red, angry-looking orbs at them. Knowing he won’t be affected, he rushed to cover his teammates since all three of them were beside each other, still stunned at the sudden change of priorities.
“Use elemental attacks, physicals won’t do shit and please, avoid the red orbs just like the pinks ones, alright?” he called out, the orbs hitting him but had no effect on his mind and only tickling him slightly. Joker looked behind him and grimaced. They were still in shock. Now shouting, he continued, “Hey! You three! Attack! Agi, Zio, Garu! No guns! Magic only!”
That seemed to caught their attention as they hastily called forth their respective Personas to throw magic at the large Shadow. Who knew that a Shadow that looked a lot like a paper doll can’t be cut by a knife and a sword? Absolutely no one.
6. Forget/Silence
“Who?”
Oh, does he want to grab Noir and do a 180° at her. It would shake her up and make her remember that she can do magic. In fact, she’s one of their strongest magic user, a Psy specialist; much like how Queen was a Frei specialist. Though, she’s more on the shield and shoot type of girl, contrasting Queen’s blast and heal tactics.
But it still doesn’t change the fact that due to some trick, she can’t call out Milady to aid them.
Milady who?
Oh gods, while he knew that his life just turned into some sort of a live action Role Playing Game - with him acting as a thief -, he never realized that silence would be like this.
It somehow made sense, when he thought about it. Since most of their magic came from their Personas, having forgotten who their Personas were would cut off their source of magic. There’s a reason why they occasionally call the names of their Personas, aside from the respect they subconsciously demand and the much needed differentiation of their other self from their own conscious self. Even though all of them understood their Personas are them, they are still not them in a sense.
“What should I… do?”
Oh it was infuriating. With the Shadow in front of him apparently maintaining the status of his teammate, he had nothing else to do but to end the menace once and for all. Whispers of how to slash the katana at the right angle, applying the just right amount of strength, and a turn and the speed given to him, he managed to finish the Shadow in just one ‘turn’ - a term Mona kept on saying, referencing on how their life turned into a big LARP Game.
“I-I… I got silenced, huh.”
“It’s okay. The Shadow wasn’t that strong and magic wasn’t a priority back then.” And it’s true. While she has the skills to dance her way around the Shadows and deal damage by surprising them with the huge ax she decided as her main weapon, strength wasn’t her forte, much like Panther.  “Shall we go? We’ve already deactivated the trap.”
“Hey, you two! Time to regroup! Thanks for deactivating it, by the way.”
Both of them smiled at Oracle’s words. “Can you lead us the way to the rest?” Noir asked, dusting herself as she picked up the ax from the side.
“No problem. Queen and Joker are here with me. In fact, you guys should turn at the next corner and you’ll meet up with us!”
*Bonus*
7. Mouse-d
It was during the middle of the fight against the Shadow lurking inside a coffin. Or a sarcophagus. Whatever it was, it seemed to be something a human was kept inside. A dead human.
A hand came out from inside, which shocked all of them from avoiding the attack that came after. One moment Queen was there, the next thing they all knew, she wasn’t. In her place was a mouse with a mask that resembled so much to Queen’s.
“...Queen?”
The squeak that came from the mouse was taken as confirmation, for them, and a signal for the Shadow, to continue what it did earlier.
Mayhem ensued and it was only by pure luck, and probably logic, that Mona was the only one left not ‘Mouse-d’ by the irritating Shadow. Go figure that a cat won’t be affected by a spell that turns anyone into a ‘Mouse’,
The ‘Mouse-d’ Thieves were running around the small space (or very large to their perspective) space that the Shadow had commandeered, leaving Mona to take care of the Shadow himself, Luckily he managed to defeat it through several critical hits made by Zorro. As it was dispersing into black mist, the rest of the team returned back to their human selves.
However, they all came back in very perverse positions since all of them were huddling together to avoid getting smashed by the Shadow’s coffin ‘housing’.
“Wish I had a camera,” all Mona said, bowing his head at the idea he just missed a chance to get useful blackmail.
