1 5 8 for the ask game !!
What are three shows in your watchlist that you’ve been meaning to get to?
oooohhhhh had daredevil queued for a while (because of you of course) but legion's also been on my mind for a while. and mike flanagan's other shows. maybe hill house? unfortunately . i cant watch those until im done with supernatural. and im not finishing supernatural. so im in limbo
5. How do you like your eggs?
ok by itself i flop between sunnyside up and scrambled sometimes. BUT the best way to have eggs in the world is shakshuka trust me on this nothing compares. second best is in ramen
8. Do you collect anything? If so, what?
ok so this is going to sound like so cliche teehee i like records but i am so genuinely insane about it actually. like not intentionally. but if you would like to know the number of records in my house at present its around this number
other than that. love pamphlets. dont know if that counts but i love getting pamphlets. and reading them.

GLaDOS's insults are interesting. Because they're so clearly prejudiced, right? She's making fun of Chell for being fat and adopted. These are scummy things to make fun of someone for, and things that would realistically be punching bags for prejudiced people interacting with this character.
But I don't think GLaDOS actually holds the sentiments she's expressing. Rather, they're a means to an end.
I get this mostly from her lines in co-op on the subject:
"Did you know humans frown on weight variances? If you want to upset a human, just say their weight variance is above or below the norm."
She calls Chell fat not because she thinks she's fat or that she personally finds anything wrong with weight variances, but because she knows calling humans fat makes them feel bad, and she's bitter about being killed and wants to make Chell feel bad.
Same goes with her being adopted. As soon as it doesn't emotionally or pragmatically benefit GLaDOS to make fun of Chell for being fat or adopted, she actively refutes Wheatley's attempt at bullying her for these things:
"And...? What, exactly, is wrong with being adopted?" "Also: Look at her, you moron. She's not fat."
She walks back her previous derogatory assertions as if they don't mean anything to her, because they don't. She never believed them in the first place.
She treats Rattmann's schizophrenia much the same way. She uses it to try and manipulate him, to make him doubt himself enough to come out of hiding where she can kill him, the same way she tries to make Chell doubt herself and turn back when she's escaping the facility back in Portal 1. The ableism she expresses is not a genuinely held belief, but a means to an end that she has no qualms about using.
Whether that makes it better or worse, I have no idea! I'd say worse on account of the intention to cause doubt or hurt to the target. But it's a very unique combination of values, isn't it? You're much more used to seeing the inverse: people being insulting, with no actual malicious intent, as a result of unchecked biases. Like, for instance, friendly little Wheatley unintentionally being super condescending about Chell's brain damage and muteness.

going through the tag was so much fun before the movie dropped, now i get annoyed at every other post i see. the expectations some of you had for this movie? unfathomable to me. imagine they had included june and rafael and leo and all the plot points you cry about not making the final cut and think about the scenes they would have had to delete to make room for all of that. idk about y'all but i rather have them focus on the love story and make the most of that instead of taking bits and pieces from every other storyline without fleshing out any of them. would it have made a great tv show? YES. did we get a tv show? no, we got a movie and a damn good one at that. if you miss june or "cornbread knows my sins, henry" that's valid but how about you just read the book again? it isn't gone just because the movie came out. read the book, love the book and simply view the movie as additional content instead of a replacement of the source material, it's not that hard.

one of the clownish things that I expected from the interview fandom but nonetheless resent is the “who’s BETTER for Louis” debate like this is dumb with any love triangle (simply choose your fighter because you like the heart eyes they make better than the heart eyes the other person makes…. Or multiship…. Or throuple it) but it’s especially dumb with this one because both Lestat and Armand are EMPIRICALLY horrible for Louis lol
and I’m not even gonna list why! I just have to gesture to everything about them!
and that’s okay because they are fictional characters and you do not need to ship people based off of who is morally better; or in this case, you don’t need to ship vampires who’ve killed thousands of people (possibly millions on Lestat and Armand’s part; they’re both much older than Louis, and Lestat at least actually has fun with it, and Louis killed 7,000 people in less than 40 years of vampirism) based on morality
also? And I say this as someone who loves Louis the most out of these three…. He’s not exactly…. Bringing out the best in Lestat or Armand….
the point in every possible configuration of the triangle (including Lestat/Armand) is toxicity lmao that’s what’s fun about it! Have FUN with it!
Editing to add that Louis would probably walk into the sun if he had to be romantically involved with a healthy and normal man for more than a week let us be real he likes them hot and deranged and nothing else
