was yapping to my friend (who just watch her first f1 race with me!) about alex's appendicitis pipeline just to give her the idea on the significance of carlos' appendicitis to the grid in the future. rest assured that she wasn't expecting the twist and turns!

I love Liam but it's unfair to Daniel, half the cars are still shit due to lack of upgrades . Helmet needs to be fired
you know what I find unfair? Daniel filling a seat he doesn't deserve. He hasn't delivered anything special for the past few years and yet he got that seat and for the way they hyped him up, he sure should've been closer to Yuki if not above him but he isn't because he isn't performing well and I don't agree with helmut on a lot of things but he's right for this one and if you don't agree with that, you shouldn't have agreed with his decision to sack nyck either.

[context] I was talking about the driver limit rule with someone and we couldn’t agree on which Red Bull would rather lose, their money or their dignity, so I’m outsourcing to the masses
Edit- dudes pls reblog after you’ve voted, I’d like a wider sample size

Phone Call
Summary: While sitting waiting for their hotel room to be available the day after Silverstone, Em gets a phone call that changes the rest of her year.
July 2023
It was supposed to just be an easy day, relaxing in the hotel while Blake and Dan had their meetings in Red Bull to prep for the tyre test and what Dan needed to do to be in contention for next year. A couple of hours later her phone rang, Em going out to the lobby to take the call.
“Hey Baby, what’s happening?”
“I know we said next year. I know. But how do you feel about finding somewhere to live in Faenza for the rest of the year?”
Her heart felt like it had stopped. This year. She couldn’t believe it.
“Seriously? I’m in public I can’t really talk. But what’s the details?”
“Helmut gave Nyck till Silverstone to get on Yuki’s level, he hasn’t done it. If the tyre test goes well tomorrow then it’s mine if I want it. But I promised you this year. And you’re pregnant. You won’t be able to go to the last races. I just..fuck.”
“Will you regret it if you say no?” It was quiet between them for a moment, the ease between them simple.
“Yeah. I will.”
Em took a deep breath before looking around the hotel, spotting people in team gear. She’d said yes already, but this felt different. “Then you do it .”
“You sure you’re ok with me taking it?”
“Yeah. It’s not going to be easy, but we did it before. We can do it again. I can’t totally talk, but do it. It’ll be fine.”
“Thank you Emmy.”
“Go prove you deserve it. I’ll see you soon. I love you.”
“I love you too.”
Em stared at her tablet as she went back into the bar, staring at the mock up for the baby’s nursery that she’d been working on. Instead she pulled up one of her old travel spreadsheets and made a copy, getting to work with planning. This was going to be insane.
“What’s going on?” Charlie asked, Em shaking her head.
“It’s about what we talked about last night, Dan had to tell me something, I’ll tell you when we’re in one of the rooms?” Her words were clear enough that Charlie knew it was serious but didn’t reply, working out what she was doing for the week. It was working remote and running her sessions remotely where possible, but with the kids that wasn’t always a thing.
Finally Dan and Blake got back as their hotel rooms were ready, the four going up and piling into Dan and Em’s room. He’d organised a room with a balcony that looked over Silverstone for Em to watch the tyre test as he drove. When everyone was sitting down Dan spoke.
“If my times tomorrow are representative of the times I’ve been doing in the sim, I’ll be announced as an Alpha Tauri driver on Friday morning.”
The shock fully hit Em, staring at him as she felt the baby move. This is real. It’s happening. Oh god.
“Nyck’s seat?” Charlie asked and Dan nodded. “Does he know?”
“Marko gave him till Silverstone but he hasn’t improved. The gap with Yuki hasn’t changed at all. I think he thinks he’ll have till the summer but that won’t happen. Christian told me this is an audition for the big one. I heard some of the mechanics talking. Checo and Carola had a fight after the race on Sunday.”
“Poor girl.” Em was quiet for a moment. “So Friday? That’s soon. How does it feel?”
“Terrifying. But I’ll get there. You ready to be a wag again? Charlie are you ok with this? I know it wasn’t what you planned.”
“We’ll make it work. I…you belong in a car, Dan. You do. Blake and I can work out, right?”
“Yeah we will.” Em watched Blake take her hand and squeeze, holding onto her tightly. “Chuck comes first, if I need to go I’m going.”
“If you need to go I’m booking your flight myself. You made sure Dan and I made things work, it’s our turn now. But this is happening? We’re all good with it?”
“Yeah. It is. Fuck. I’m driving in a race in two weeks.”
After the four of them ate a late lunch they agreed to chill out in their own hotel rooms for the night. Dan pulled Em into his side as she ran her fingers through his curls.
“Have you told your parents yet?” Em asked quietly.
“Not yet. Not till it’s official? I don’t want them to think it’ll happen till it does. Plus they’ll ask about Mike and that…yeah. Fuck.”
“Oh Baby, I know. I know.” It still hurt that they didn’t speak anymore, that the hug she’d given him at Silverstone was the only time she’d seen him since her wedding. But she’d come home to see him leave the house in anger, Dan unwilling to talk about everything in their fight. She still missed her big brother so much, and spending weekends in the same hotel and garage would be surreal.
“Fuck. It’s just shit. He was my best man and two days later. It’s shit.”
“I know. And I can’t say anything else. But you won’t be working closely with him. And maybe it’ll thaw things.”
“Yeah, maybe.”
Em kept running her fingers through his hair, kissing Dan’s forehead. It had to be ok. It had to be.

year one - n. de vries
Tumblr media
masterlist
requested: n
pairings: nyck de vries x reader
warnings: anxious thoughts + some fluff
a/n: there’s not a lot of nyck content on here ☹️ but happy race week everyone 😁😁 I’m excited for nyck and alphatauri!
he feels right at home at Bahrain, he’s said. the pace, speed, and car of formula 1 was a little different to his previous seasons, but he couldn’t have been more prepared to help lead alphatauri to points.
he’s comfortable with the speed of the kart, in fact, it’s an adrenaline rush every time he gets out there. he’s proud of himself for coming this far, but he’s nervous for Sunday, he has to prove that he was the right choice.
you were at the paddock in the alphatauri garage ever since landing last week. he wanted you there to watch him and yuki’s preseason test laps, and even watch his training. you found yourself in the way most of the time, but alphatauri’s chief, Franz Tost, found himself handing you a headset to make yourself useful.
“alright nyck, you’re p17. nice job for the day.” his car pulled into the box and you watched him exit the car making his way around the team who told him some encouraging words. it wasn’t easy being a rookie in f1, you had to do well at surviving to secure your seat for the future. you could tell nyck wasn’t performing his best today due to that overwhelming doom hanging over his head.
“well what did you think?” he stopped in front of you, scanning your eyes for any confirmation that you agreed with what the team said. he didn’t like his performance all that well, and he knew by the look in your eyes you were on the same page as him. you’d seen him enough times to know this wasn’t his best preseason performance.
“why does it matter what I think? you should listen to your team.” you nodded in their direction noting they had pulled yuki to talk logistics of the upcoming race, and were searching for your boyfriend. you had been with nyck for far long enough to know why it mattered, he trusted your words better than anyone else, but formula 1 was not about what the significant others thought, it was about what the Franz Tost thought.
“it matters to me what you think, you’ve been with me long enough.” he sighs turning in the direction of Franz who was motioning for him to join the meeting, “look I’ll be back, start thinking of things I can work on.”
finally after a long day out in the sun, you could relax in your hotel room. you had a separate room from nyck so he could stay focused, but it didn’t stop him from stealing your extra room key to sneak in and sleep in your room. he needed your comfort during these past couple of days, he could hardly sleep he was full anxiety and excitement.
you heard the sound of the door click open and gently shut, he shrugged off his coat and removed his shoes before jumping onto the bed and get under the covers with you. he moved closer to your body, resting his head on your shoulder letting out a happy sigh that the day was finally over.
“do you think I’m ready?” his tone was unfamiliar to him as the words exited his mouth. he was just days away from making his first year debut as a formula 1 driver, and the nerves were getting the best of him. no matter how many times he’s raced, this was the moment he’s been waiting for.
you frowned, you knew he had been doubting himself and his abilities, but it was just the start, “baby, of course I do.”
“it wasn’t my best performance today.” he recalls hearing his position over the headset. he didn’t like hearing the double digit number because he knew his lap time was shit, and he could’ve performed better.
“no, you’re right it wasn’t, but take today and learn from it. you’ll be better the next time.” your lips pressed against his head watching his body sink into the bed closer to you, his head resting on your chest now.
“I love you, nyck. don’t get so discouraged you’re going to do great things with alphatauri and yuki.” you tried your best to get his eyes to connect with yours, but they were glued to the television as he chewed the inside of his cheek. you knew he was ignoring you because he either A. wanted to drop the conversation or B. was getting irritated at the f1 talk.
“how was dinner with the team?” you moved on watching him shift upwards to look at you now, a smile on his face while he talked about getting to know yuki and the engineers, he was happy.
“they asked about you, you know? they wondered why you weren’t at dinner.” if he wasn’t talking about driving, there was a good chance he was talking about you, and when one of the engineers asked about your absence, he was quick to make conversation about you.
“I needed a break from car talk, it can get boring sometimes.” you chuckled watching him roll his eyes at your response.
“you love it and I know it.” he says with a cheeky smile on his face laughing. your second date was him giving you a tour of the garage, he knew you were the one for him when you didn’t yawn or get bored, instead you asked questions and began engaging in conversation with the team. now, he considered you the most educated of the two.
you shook your head, “I like talking about your driving not about tires.”
“weren’t you the one yelling at me to head to the box for new tires? you know I recognize your voice over radio.” he mocks your voice yelling at him to head to the box over the radio, it made him smile hearing your voice, but he loved hearing everyone laugh at how angry you got when he ignored your request.
“without me in your ear, you’ll be just fine on Sunday.”

Random thoughts about this current F1 season that I have been meaning to write about but I keep forgetting so I am just gonna make this long post
Carlos has been the most consistent qualifier on the entire grid this season but this gets overshadowed by Ferrari finding creative ways to screw him and Charles over. I wish his consistency was praised more
Valterri has got to retire like there is not much else for him to do in this sport. He was in a top team for 5 years but Zhou has been out-performing him for a while now. I feel like it's time for someone else to start their F1 career. Like look at this graphic 😭😭😭
Tumblr media
The lack of safety cars and all 20 cars finishing the races is simultaneously a good and bad thing. Good because it means the cars are more reliable, bad because race outcomes are way more predictable. Once Max builds a 20s+ gap it will be virtually impossible to close it.
I will be very surprised if Checo is still in F1 after 2024. He ain't doing so bad when it comes to points, but if your teammate has been in first place for more than half of the laps in this entire season and you can't come close to it, then you look even worse. He built a 50+ point gap to you , and at one stage y'all were just 1 point apart in the driver's standings. I would be shaking crying screaming throwing up
If they put Daniel in the RedBull seat after Checo's contract is up instead of Yuki I am going to be extremely salty. Yuki has been putting that car with no breaks in the points consistently like quit playing with him
Monza 2022 really tricked people because they thought Nyck de Vries would be more of a leader in Alpha Tauri. I ain't forger how he was shown in Drive to Survive. However, I don't agree with how people bully him like some people do too much
They should consider raising the cost cap because I know these teams know what the problem is with their cars, they just don't have the ~money~. And we all saw how useless the cost cap was last season
What is it going to take for Xavi to get fired like bro basically cost Charles a podium in Monaco. And he's just overall bad at communicating compared to the other race engineers.
Lando being stuck in McLaren and not even being able to fight for points consistently is heartbreaking. 😔. He is way too talented to be finishing like P17 all the time
Britcedes won't ever implode like Brocedes did but if George tries to suggest team orders for him and Lewis to swap places again I'm gonna cry. There's only so much I can take
Alex just might be the greatest driver of all time for being able to get the current Williams car a point and into Q3 in Austrailia. Out of straight line speed the car really doesn't have much going for it. I was gagged at how simple to floor is
Tumblr media
I don't really have any huge observations about Aston Martin and Alpine but I do think it's cool to see how much their cars have developed and I hope they get to consistently fight for higher positions

which drivers on the grid tend to be more obedient/pliant versus which ones need to be sub trained first? i imagined it like this, what do you think? i tried to sort everyone for fun 😂
instant putty in your hands: mick, zhou, charles, oscar, alex, antonio, even lewis sometimes
brats to tame: pierre, carlos, estie, lando, hulk, daniel, yuki, logan, k-mag, fernando lmaoo
the in-between: george, checo, nyck (?), valtteri, lance, and surprisingly max (can't spell verstappen without vers)
- george's long legs anon 👕💓
Ooo I really like this!! I have very similar opinions to you, and I’m not gonna talk about EVERY driver just cause there are so many and this post would be a mile long if I did, but I’ll pick a few in each category to talk about :))
INSTANT PUTTY:
Charles: of course. Of course he is. Charles doesn’t even try to pretend like he’s hard to get. He melts into your arms at the first chance he gets, and he never looks back.
Lewis: I actually agree that Lewis would be putty in your hands. I think it takes a long time for Lewis to admit he wants to submit, but once he’s admitted it? There’s no fight for dominance or anything. He just wants to be treated softly and kindly.
BRATS:
Lando: Lando is absolutely a brat. No doubt about it. He’ll be a good boy for you, but only once you’ve punished him. Once his ass is bright red, then he’ll be so sweet with you, acting like the best boy ever….. then two hours later he’s talking back.
Yuki: I’ve never thought of Yuki as a brat but now that I consider it, yeah I think you’re right? When the relationship starts out, he’s good. But that’s because he’s scared you might leave otherwise? But as he gets more comfortable… yeah the brat comes out.
IN BETWEEN:
Pierre: I would put Pierre here, not in the full brat scale, because I think there are still times where he wants to be a good boy? Most of his brattiness comes out when he wants to be treated roughly, and then he won’t stop bratting until you’ve wrecked him so much that he can’t speak anymore.
Oscar: I would also put Oscar here, and I think he’s kinda the reverse of Yuki? He brats as a defence mechanism, because he thinks that’s how he’s supposed to behave, because he’s scared of being vulnerable. But over time you see the other side of him, all giggly and soft and good.

I didn't realize Tsunoda was such a divisive person for f1 fans 😭😭
I think he's a bit underrated in the sense that he has solid driving skills and gets overlooked by his teammates that are always brought in to give that leadership role rb doesn't believe he has, but he's overrated because his fanbase is extremely aggressive over him and they sometimes treat him as "aww he's so cute" yk?
but i don't see him driving for rb any time soon, i do think he still needs to grow a bit more and channel his attitude into his driving more (i do think people overreact on his attitude tho, just look at the other 19 drivers they're all adrenaline fueled freaks 💀)
His attitude reminds me a bit of young seb, they were both a bit reckless and careless with their words and you could see the bit of arrogance shining through but i think he's improved a lot
I am, ngl, a bit of a Yuki “hater”. Not for any other reason than I want Toro Rosso to be a proper junior team and he’s taking up one of the few seats that has traditionally been given to rookies. I think any time you have someone who’s there in perpetuity, same as Lance Stroll, the scrutiny becomes more intense. It’s unfair but it’s also natural. More people complain that Yuki doesn’t deserve his seat than complain about Zhou, for example, when imo they’re kind of on the same level driver wise - solid on a good day, not setting the timing sheets alight.
I don’t think he’s a possibility for RB. They put in the work with him for a while, by moving him to Faenza and getting him a mental coach, but I think they’ve made their mind up by now that he’s not what they’re looking for and I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve “quiet quit” on developing him. Regardless, I don’t think he has the skills to get to RB. He could do well hanging out in the lower midfield but there’s enough drivers already doing that, so I don’t see what he would uniquely bring to a team. For that reason I don’t really think he’s underrated.
I think people overreact to all the drivers’ “tempers” in the car. So they swear, big deal. Saying “stop fucking talking to me” is not the same as saying “you are a piece of shit”, the radios are not really directed at the engineers personally, and sometimes that kind of inflection is necessary to get the gravity of the stress across. Drive at 300kph and have someone talking to you or a feeling of instability and see how politely you manage to talk to someone. Yuki may swear a bit more than average but that’s just his personality on adrenaline, Lando’s personality on adrenaline is a whiny bitch. All drivers say they listen back to their radios and cringe. Judging people when you are hearing them at their most vulnerable is…a bit of a take, imo.
I never really had a poor opinion of Yuki until him doing that nonsense in Bahrain. And it was indeed nonsense. For you to careen your €15m piece of equipment, that 100s of people spent thousands of hours building for you, into your teammates €15m piece of equipment that 100s of people spent thousands of hours building for him, because you’re annoyed about a decision made by someone who’s not in the car, for no real gain or loss (no points available), is really poor behaviour. Yes, adrenaline, but if your adrenaline makes you dangerous then you’re in the wrong profession, buddy.
I never found Yuki arrogant at all, I think he’s always come across really matter of fact, quite honest, I love always thought he’s conducted himself really well in interviews etc., but that Bahrain stunt was embarrassing for him. And as for people saying he’s in contention for the RB seat…let him try doing that to Max in an RB20, he would be gone quicker than Gasly.
I agree with you though, I really didn’t think he was divisive until I saw the real crazy come out after the Bahrain incident. I saw a bit of it when deVries was around but Nyck was rude af about Yuki so I understood it. But I didn’t know people had strong opinions on him either way until recently.

Nyck must have said or did something that made Helmut fire him effective immediately. When Gasly was fired, it was because he was apparently fighting with the engineers and then said something to andrean that helmut heard and he replaced him with Albon immediately. Aka Gasly was being a dick and was blaming the car and adrian for his incompetence. As much as the car is shit Yuki managed to get points in it. Nyck finished dead last last race.
Also, nobody expects Daniel to perform miracles in that car. All he needs to do is beat yuki or be close to him. I think he will perform miracles in it because he is Daniel, and if anyone can do it, it's him.
I agree with the whole Nyck of it all. There have been rumours since he was fired that he was rude to the engineers and the team, also he came in all cocky thinking he was instantly going to beat Yuki and that didn’t happen. At this point I don’t think we’re getting any Thankyou or goodbye post.
The team is probably mad that he leaked him being fired. Daniel was fired in Hungary last year and he didn’t leak anything, he worked with the team to come up with an announcement. This is RedBull we’re talking about, they won’t take too kindly to that.
Also I agree about the Daniel of it all. When I posted that i was all in my feels but after seeing him at the factory and looking so happy and listening to Nate talk about the decision I can say I was wrong. He wasn’t forced into the seat, seeing the team welcome him so well is so cute. I love that for him.
And yes. RB know the AT isn’t the best car. They’re not expecting Daniel to perform miracles just perform better than nyck and be on tikis level. It might take a few races for him to get there but I think he can do it, especially if the team listen to him about changes he wants done to the car.

People saying this is just as bad as Daniel or Alex or Pierre truly do not understand how much worse this is.
Since his F2 days Nyck knew he was never going to be able to get into F1 because it was just to expensive. Even when he was under Mercedes wing it was impossible. He got into FE and while we can all debate his title he at least found a place in a championship where he could fight for podiums/points, hell even wins. Sure Stoffel proved himself the better driver and Nyck has always been semi in FE but he was in a championship were he felt good. Then, Mercedes decide to leave eventhough they basically just came in and Nyck once again is left with knowing he has nowhere to go. And while there were offers he truly believed so much in F1 that he never pursued any and to his luck and Alex being sick he finally got the impossible dream.
He got a chance.
And then he gets critized from day 1 for his aggressive driving which was clear in the last years if you just bothered to look him up, he gets critized for not being closer to Yuki after being in a compleltly different series to F1.
I don't think people understand how different FE used to be and still is. It took André Lotterer who won multiple Le Mans victories a full season to get even used to driving with that different style. And people expect Nyck who spent years getting used to and finally adapting to it to just immediately fit into the F1 driving style?
Not to mention in such a bad car that you have the team leader (in drivers terms) openly criticising it multiple times with the team principal agreeing that they need to change the car which is the worst in the entire grid so it would take even longer to get used to it?
This is nothing like Daniel. He had many years before his ultimate McLaren downfall.
This is also nothing like Pierre or Alex who got swapped mid season because of performance issues because they both still had a drive on the grid, they both still had a chance to improve or show themselves. Sure they were beaten but they both had great races before that.
This is a driver that completely wrote F1 off a long time ago being given the impossible chance to drive and of course jumping. This is a driver being kicked mid-season is such a PR disasters move that will automatically make any other team turn away from him because they will question why he was dropped. This is a driver being kicked mid season without any chance to get a seat somewhere else or even look. Pierre and Alex could at least prepare themselves while Nyck was just this week talking about how excited he is for the next race.
This is a potential career ending move while the others just had blows and in most cases it was a turning point to something even greater. Not that I agree with any decisions prior but it almost opened a door where as for Nyck all door are closed, locked and sealed shut.
I don't think you realise how damaging this is for not only his career but also his mental health and that this compares to nothing, nothing we have seen before.

Okay so I’m a Daniel girlie (gn) - always have been, always will be, and so I have very mixed feelings about him going to AT.
On the one hand, I’m happy to see him on the grid on his own terms. He agreed to this, so he clearly thinks he’s ready and feels confident in his abilities. I’m glad he’ll get to race in Vegas as he so wanted to.
But on the other hand, my stomach is in knots because, if this doesn’t go well, this could be the ending of his career in F1.
His times in the RB are in no way comparable to what they will be in the AT. So it’s completely unknown as to what he’ll be able to get out of that absolute shitbox of a car.
And then, he’s got the fact that he’s replaced another driver who may not have been doing so well, but was competent and knew what he was doing. If he doesn’t do better than Nyck, it’ll be a real slap around the face for him. But realistically, how much better can he do?
Yuki somehow manages to drag that tractor almost into the points pretty much every weekend, while Nyck sits somewhere near the bottom. I think that says a lot about Yuki’s talents rather than the car itself.
Daniel has to compare to that. He just has to. If he isn’t putting in similar quali times to Yuki, and finishing next to or above Yuki, people will, as they did when he was at Mclaren, start pointing the finger of failure at him.
This is a lot of fucking weight on his shoulders, he has to absolutely outperform the car, having only stepped in a ‘23 car less than two weeks before his first race. It’s a lot.
And so I’m scared, I’m literally fucking shitting myself because I’m worried that if he fails to outperform the car, equal or beat his team mate, and do something good, no one will want him.
Red Bull has Liam, and so many other juniors itching for a seat, and if, at the end of the season, they think that any of these drivers can do better than Daniel, he’ll be gone faster than Lando off the starting line at Silverstone last weekend.
And I’m 100% sure that if he loses this seat, even Red Bull won’t consider taking him back as a ‘third driver’ and no other team will touch him.
I hope, and I really hope, that he goes full honey badger, prime Daniel, and absolutely slays it. I’m praying, I’m manifesting, I’m hoping with all my soul that he does. But I’m a pessimist, and a realist, and I’m scared for him.

tbh the only drivers i can for sure say i think are good at sex are fernando and lewis 😭😭😭 fernando just gives such daddy vibes (he always makes me question myself he is like 22 years older than me🫣) and he just looks like he would know what he is doing and he probably has a big d just saying and i don’t think lewis even needs any explanation
100% agree about pierre being all bark no bite about sex coz the way he makes everything about it gives me the impression that 1. he thinks he is good but every women he has ever been with has faked it 2. he has a small dick
but i will have to disagree about max because i think he actually has a huge dick, i mean idk i just have this feeling like it is big and he is dutch so 🤷🏻‍♀️ however i am not sure whether he would know how to use it or not
george looks like he eats pussy for breakfast lunch and dinner like i have no guesses about the size of his d but i just get pussy lover vibes from him
carlos and lando both look like they are average at it
charles for sure is vanilla, like he just screams that
lance also gives big d vibes, idk the way he carries himself makes me think that
checo is bad at it i just know it, there is no way anyone looks at him and thinks “oh ik this man is good at sex” no. like no one thinks that, poor carola fakes it every time probably
nyck is packing for sure coz i remember seeing it
i cannot think about yuki in this context my mental health is not strong enough for it
not sure about kevin and nico so not gonna comment
same with alex and esteban
logan gives me very flirty vibes and i feel like he would be like that in bed too and would love dirty talk, however i do not have any thoughts about his d size
oscar is very sweet in general but i see the potential in him of being a freak in the sheets
valtteri has a big d, i just cannot imagine this man having a small one he is so bde and is into exhibitionism (i have seen this man’s ass more times than i ever wanted to)
zhou i have no idea, he does not give me any vibe, he is just there as a fashion statement
anyways bye
“Anyways bye”

Australian GP 2023 Reflection that nobody asked for
I don't even know where to start. I started watching the race in the middle of it, and at that point George's car just caught on fire. Charles and Alex were already out and I was so confused. I had such high hopes for them and to see them taken out so early made me so sad. But little did I know about the amount of fuckery I was about to witness.
First of all, if there is a red flag with less than 5 laps to go, the race should finish under a safetycar. The FIA keeps putting the theatrics before the drivers' safety and it's so tired. Like we could have avoided the Alpines getting taken out and Pierre & Esteban getting the points they rightfully deserved. All the drivers were talking about how hard it is to get temperature into the tires. This was a disaster just waiting to happen.
Carlos did not deserve the 5 second penalty. Max hadn't even completed the first sector of his lap when the race was red-flagged. And I am still confused as to why it seems that the lap counted but it didn't at the same time. Lance and Fernando were given their positions back so I don't know why the penalty was enforced. Like we all have our differences but I think we can all agree that it is not fair to give 1 driver a penalty when there were like 4 other incidents to happen in the same timeframe.
Logan Sargeant rammed his car into Nyck de Vries, not even an investigation. If the FIA had braincells they would be giving Sargeant a grid penalty, but it won't make much of a difference since it's a Williams and the car is a tractor (although Alex is making the most out of it). Lance and Charles had a racing incident and nobody was penalized. Pierre locked up and crashed into Esteban and no further action was taken. I mean, y'all saw the same footage so like what's the tea???
The McLaren didn't even make much gains pace-wise but they went from 10th to 5th in the championships. Like how is it possible that they're ahead of the Alpines when the Alpines were matching pace with the Ferraris? But good for Lando and Oscar, you could tell they were mentally and emotionally distraught from the first couple of races. They stayed out of trouble and I cannot fault them for it. Oscar getting his first points in his first home GP is a feel-good story that we needed. But I am salty because Pierre was in 5th and it was going to be his best finish in his new team.
One positive to take away from this is that Lewis got a podium despite not feeling connected to the car. He's getting closer and closer to another race win and I am so excited with what he can do in Baku. George complaining about Lewis racing him is whatever because Lewis was under pressure from Max and Fernando so of course he's gonna be fighting for his life. A lot of TeamLH find George annoying but all I see is George trying to make a name for himself. Like the best way to do that is to challenge yourself against the GOAT. And as long as Lewis ain't upset by it then why should I care?
Another positive is that Yuki & Zhou got their points. I feel like if Yuki finished p11 again he would have self-destructed. Now I just want the other rookies to get a chance at points so we can have another season where everyone scores.
Also Max not lining up on the grid "properly": to me it does not make sense for it to be allowed that the car touches the white line. Like in track & field, you're not allowed to do that, you have to be behind the white line. So that was my reasoning for posting about it initially. Also I wanted Lewis to win something and I can admit that. I ain't taking back my initial post though it's kinda funny seeing the responses to it.
