What makes me feral about Our Man Bashir is Julian looking at Garak and repeating what he means to be a spy, making Garak's words his own words. I know so many people are like "our man bashir is where garak and julian start having issues" but for me that's a very meta interpretation of the episode because we know they are not gonna appear on screen often anymore but I refuse to believe it 1) because otherwise In Purgatory's Shadows/By Inferno's Light don't make sense 2) because the episode at its very core is about Julian and Garak seeing each other completely. Julian gets to see what it means for Garak to be Garak like in real life, not in anectodes or easily hand waved issues (like the founder thing) and Garak gets to see Julian's strength and determination and steel and hope when he's not being a doctor.

As I understand it right now, Garak accepts Julian by letting him take the lead and Julian accepts Garak by parroting his words to say "I heard you. I understand". It's when they deepen their relationship and become truly equals, when Garak can be open about his beliefs and for once they can have an open discussion and reach a mutual open agreement. Which is why the episode can end with them deciding to do it again but for fun. Julian is now comfortable enough to show Garak his silliest spy fantasies knowing he'll be mocked but not judged and Garak can see it simply as playing pretend with a friend. It's specifically a different kind of fun from their literally discussions because in a way it's more about them as individuals while their literary discussions are about them as individuals AND as members of their respective societies, worlds and professions.

I think.

Anyway if nothing else "Julian is now comfortable showing his James Bond hologram to all his friends" is Canon and I'm pretty sure that after reading Julian's report Jadzia spent three weeks just plotting how to get to see Garak play as a spy.

(AN: back on my travel bullshit! Here’s a little ficlet, thanks to @wanderingwriter87 for the prompt- and for taking me to brunch.)

Garak looks around, a performative pout already gracing his face.

“Isn’t this place amazing?” Julian asks, either not noticing or pretending not to notice his companion’s disgruntled face.

“It’s…” Garak pauses and looks around. The restaurant is hardly a typical Cardassian design, yet it is right in the middle of Lakarian City’s central business district.

“And look at the menu!” Julian continues as if Garak hadn’t spoken. “It's not every day you see a human restaurant in the middle of a Cardassian city! I can’t believe I could get us in for their opening brunch.”

“Yes, how did you get a reservation?”

“Turns out one of my patients last month was the chef, who invited me personally. I can’t wait to try it; they’re using all locally sourced ingredients from Cardassia to make some Earth classics. It’s a fascinating ethos; he’s trying to support local Cardassian farmers.”

“Fascinating, Doctor. Can you give me an example?”

“See,” he says, pointing to the extensive menu before him, “this is an Earth classic, an Eggs Benedict. But they’ve used thin-cut Zabu and Vole eggs instead of ham and chicken eggs!”

“Well, I suppose I’ll reserve judgment until the dish is in front of me. But Doctor, I cannot believe you would take me to see my culture so violently denigrated.”

Julian rolls his eyes. “Denigrate? Garak, don’t be absurd. This is a very typical human practice; there are dozens of these types of restaurants throughout the Federation.”

“Oh good,” Garak says with wide eyes and as much false earnestness as he can muster. “I’m so thrilled to hear that Cardassia is just like every other planet in the Federation.”

“Oh, for the love of—“

“Imperialism at its finest,” Garak concluded victoriously.

Julian opens his mouth, then closes it, and his eyes gleam with mischief. “I suppose so; sorry that the Federation is much more effective at it than Cardassia, darling.”

Garak’s jaw drops with indignation, and Julian laughs.

“Now, can you handle looking at the menu?”

Outmaneuvered and aware of it, Garak changes tracks and glances down the menu. His eyes widen at the sheer array of foods he’s grown up eating prepared in ways he never imagined—things in sauces that he never considered would go together. What’s worse is some of it sounds… Good.

“You’re… excited about this, aren’t you?” Julian says, slightly stunned.

“Why would you say that?”

“You never complain this much about things you don’t like; you love to humor me. You’ve been looking forward to this.”

“Don’t be absurd.”

“Oh my god,” Julian crows, “I’m right!”

“Fine, I’ll admit to some idle curiosity.”

“Of course. And that’s why your eyes practically lit up when you saw the ceviche section.”

Garak rolls his eyes. “I thought you wanted me to like this.”

“Oh, I do,” Julian replies. “I’m just allowing myself to feel very smug.”

“Oh dear,” Garak says dryly, “whatever will I do with such an unusual state of affairs?”

Julian smiles at him and reaches across the table, palm up. Garak raises his eyebrows at the sheer exhibitionism but holds his hand back nonetheless.

Garak takes a deep breath and lets it go slowly. The restaurant is loud and busy; the wait staff flit between tables, and soft music plays in the background. Every table seats young couples dressed in the latest fashions from the Alpha quadrant, not just Lakarian city, and he feels…

“Cardassia will never be what I remember, will it?” He says, not quite realizing he said it out loud.

Julian softens, his thumb rubbing circles on the back of Garak’s hand. “Maybe not, but it will never lose what it is either. I think it has a chance to be better than ever.”

Garak allows his eyes to trail over the patterns no Cardassian would have ever used, the foods they would never have made, the people they never would have loved, and thinks that perhaps… Perhaps Cardassia’s best days lay ahead of them yet.

was wondering what your thoughts are on the prank alison played on thomas? Cuz on one hand, yeah, it was wayyyyy more harsh than any of the pranks played on the others and was the only one that was deliberately designed to strike him where it hurts especially since she knows about his history with isabelle

but on the other hand, i think she just likes everyone else more than thomas? and who can blame her when he's been disrespecting her boundaries for years. Kitty can be needy but its different with a younger sister type character who just wants affection vs thomas who has been hitting on her for years even though she's very clearly happily married

Thank you for this ask, anon! I've actually been meaning to make a post about the prank in 5x01 so this is the perfect excuse to finally get around to writing it.

But before I do that, I just want to stress that my opinion is just that - an opinion. I've been getting quite a few Thomas asks recently and while I do appreciate that very much because I love to talk about him, my interpretation of his character is just one of many and it's perfectly fine if you or anyone else sees things differently. My take on him doesn't hold more weight than any other.

With that being said, here are my thoughts on the prank and Thomas's vs. Kitty's behaviour - long post incoming:

I'm probably in the minority here but I found Alison’s prank on Thomas downright cruel, especially when you compare it to her other pranks. It wasn't some harmless fun - that prank was designed to hurt him, and I think that crosses a line. Because Thomas, for all his annoying habits, for all his ridiculous love declarations and inability to take a hint, has always backed down when Alison told him to. He hasn't stopped altogether (which technically speaking is partly Alison's own fault because of the, "I could kiss you," line and not just his for lack of trying) but whenever she gets fed up with him, he actually listens and shuts up - which I think is something people often tend to overlook.

Also, Thomas's 'love' for Alison is a theoretical thing: something for him to fixate on that is safe because he knows nothing will ever come of it. It's why we only ever see him 'fall in love' with living women who are, by nature, out of his reach. Thomas doesn't really want to be with them. It's why he downright panics when Alison seems to return his feelings in 5x01. He likes the idea of taking a walk with her in the gardens and holding her hand; the thought of kissing her under the mistletoe - the romantic ideal of it. But 5x01 makes it quite clear that he never expected it to become real, and that he isn't as keen on physical intimacy as he sometimes pretends either. I don't think he's ready for the vulnerability that comes with loving someone and being loved in return, and him dying alone and unloved plays a huge role in that. Because that's how he ghosts too. And I don't mean that in a romantic way. Thomas isn't particularly close to any of the other ghosts, not like Julian and Robin are, or Fanny and the Captain. He doesn't have a best friend because he's always the butt of the joke and no one takes him seriously or even pretends to like him. Is it really a surprise he clings to a love that is safe because it only exists in his mind?

That doesn't change anything for Alison, of course. But I'll go so far as to say she never even tried to understand him. The way she treated him when he came to her to talk about his death showed that. If she'd been as gentle and understanding and patient with him as she was with the Captain during the therapy session and actually listened and talked to him, the whole 'love' thing could have probably been resolved early on. But as was mentioned here, there are moments when she even encourages his behaviour and seems to miss his attention. That's sending very mixed signal to someone who is desperate for love, and makes her prank even more cruel. Given the circumstances, it's obviously understandable that out of her ghostly family she likes him the least as you mentioned (I think her listing him as a con for staying at Button House is pretty much proof of that) but it just feels like she's never really made an effort when it comes to him and just like the ghosts, never gave him the chance to open up. Instead, she uses his deepest pain against him with her prank, once again not taking the hurt he felt over his death seriously, and that's just not right.

On the matter of Kitty: it's interesting that you use the phrase "disrespecting boundaries" for Thomas and the word "needy" for Kitty because I'd actually say it's the other way around. People always regard Thomas's behaviour as creepy because his love for Alison is (seemingly) of a romantic nature whereas Kitty's love is regarded as sisterly and thus deemed acceptable and even sweet. But I've actually gone through every episode of series 1 once to note down all the times the ghosts cross lines with Alison and you know what? It's Kitty who does it most severely (along with Mary). The most Thomas does is phase through Alison's bedroom wall once without being invited in and looking through the bathroom door while Alison is showering (where the others are present so this was clearly part of the plan to haunt her for which Thomas, predictably, volunteered). Kitty, however? She's in Alison's bed twice and watches her and Mike sleep another time. I don't know about you but I'd rather have someone walk into my bedroom once than wake up with a stranger in my bed or in my room.

But maybe that's just me. So let's take a look at Kitty's 'sisterly' behaviour. The biggest difference between her and Thomas is that Kitty doesn't back down on her own. If it were up to her, Alison's life would revolve her. She doesn't accept that Alison has other friends (the tantrum at the party Alison and Mike threw) or god forbid another sister. She is very vocally against Lucy from the start and only stops when Alison calls her out on it (which parallels 4x02 when Alison told Thomas to stop - though in that case Alison is merely fed up whereas she is actually hurt by Kitty's behaviour). Kitty demands and expects Alison's attention in a way Thomas never has. He's always been content to love her from afar whereas Kitty inserts herself into Alison's life as best as she can and throws a tantrum when she doesn't get her way and often manages to guilt-trip Alison into giving in (the phone call at the party).

Kitty's obsessive behaviour got tuned down in later series but it was there and it was not cute. I found it very off-putting, to be honest, and I never understood why people thought it was cute. Obviously, these are just my personal thoughts and feelings on the matter. I know a lot of people will disagree with me on this (cue anon hate in 3, 2, 1...) because they love the idea of Kitty as this young, sweet, naive girl. But I think if you're calling Thomas out for his behaviour (which you should because as much as I love him, he shouldn't romance a married woman, no matter the reasons), you shouldn't ignore Kitty's actions just because her love for Alison is platonic rather than romantic. That doesn't make what she does okay.

this is basically just a hodge podge list of things floating around my brain that i cannot form into a cohesive piece of writing. it’s mainly either snapshots of them together or one of them as viewed by the other but i tried to make it a good mix of the two

after she gets her doctorate he cannot stop introducing her to people as “my wife, dr yennefer vengerberg” he has a palm on the small of her back and the proud gleam in his eye makes her feel like they’re the only two in the world. also he takes her last name so they are dr yennefer vengerberg and dr julian alfred pankratz-vengerberg. or forget the pankratz. he says it’s because he likes the idea of a really long and important sounding name but she really knows its because he would rather be attached to her than have anything to do with his own family

she wears a skirt and jaskier’s favorite part of her outfit is the little tummy pooch thing. you know what i’m talking about

her hands are always cold so she always shoves them under his shirt for warmth. “your hands are like icicles and i detest you.” he says. then he kisses her on the head and hugs her closer to him for like ever

jaskier gets emotional a lot and yennefer loves him for it. is proud to know and love a man who is so passionate about how he feels and who and what he loves, and how freely he shows it. she organises a surprise birthday party with all their closest friends and family at their flat/apartment and when geralt and yen hug him (at the same time) he cries out of happiness. geralt grunts out an “i love you” into his hair which makes him cry even more. geralt is so easy with his love when it comes to the people he trusts the most and he gives the best hugs once he lets you have them

yen and jaskier like to share a bath and drink wine together, her against his chest. she likes to feel the damp scruff around his mouth as he kisses her cheek, as he gently pushes the wet hair away to kiss her better. after the bath they tumble in bed, still dripping with water but warm and wine drunk and in love and so reluctant to leave each other for anything at the moment

they’re eating dinner one night and his head is bent down as he laughs at something (he is always laughing). he looks so nice/handsome in his black turtleneck, with his long hair and neatly trimmed beard and mustache. the ever present sparkle in his eye. she is very much in love with him and she whispers it into his back later as they lay together in bed, her hand curled around his in front of his chest.

Just spitballing here but I wanted to theorize what the other ghosts' powers might be, hoping they all have one. I decided to place some ground rules to follow so that it would all somehow follow a logic💀💀 First of all, I'm assuming Robin was struck by lightning because well, it just makes sense, second of all, I'm also assuming all the powers have to be in some way related to the way they died (you stay how you die after all) since it's the only way I think it would explain why there is a connection between each ghost and their power! That said, here's what i was i able to come up with

🌩 Robin: struck by lightning > can control electricity

🔥 Mary: burned alive > leaves burning smell

🍷 Julian: too attached to material things (which ultimately lead to his death) > can interact with the material world

📸 Fanny: married someone who didn't care to know her (which ultimately lead to her death) > can be "known" (seen) by everyone

📻 Humphrey: married someone who didn't care to communicate with him/ he couldn't communicate with (which ultimately lead to his death) > can be heard through the voice box

omg tell us more about ur ideas about the o’brien’s relationships on tng vs ds9 i’m very interested

tbh i really need to go back and watch tng because obviously i wasnt paying as much attention to obrien back then and i straight up forgor. but yesterday i did rewatch obrien scenes from both "data's day" and "in theory" and I feel like O'Brien is a lot different but not in like a continuity error way just in ways that could be factors of his environment. He was just a lot quieter (something that is probably DIRECTLY because he isn't a main character in TNG, therefore there is much less reason for him to be on screen talking, but we can have fun and pretend that was an intentional character decision) he also kept calling Data sir like one million times, which I feel like is a sign he was not comfortable or friendly with him. Which i mean if O'Brien was uncomfortable with the rest of the senior staff or felt the need to be overly formal to them it would make sense. Although at that point he had been in Starfleet for a long time, he was still an enlisted officer surrounded by what was considered the best of the best in all of starfleet. The enterprise definitely has this kind of elitist very professional vibe to it. everyone is so eager to be this self-sacrificing hero. I think this vibe comes across a lot in the episode Lower Decks, how all the ensigns are trying their best to get noticed and to move up in ranks. I can see why a guy like O'Brien would feel uncomfortable in this environment and have a hard time relating to his peers. O'Brien wants to start a family and spend his time fixing things. If he ever was a man whos actions were influenced by glory-seeking and heroism, i feel like that was stomped out during his time in the war. It is not something that is ever addressed in canon (though it might be kinda interesting) but you cant tell me there isnt some kind of biased against enlisted officers, even if its just a status thing.

I'm sure O'Brien had friends on the enterprise and obviously, thats where he met his wife, I just cant imagine him being close with any of these people. He seemed to have a good relationship with Geordi, but those two were both pretty similar and really Geordi could (and has) make friends with anyone. Anyway, O'Brien seems like he would be much more comfortable in the environment that's created on DS9, where rank doesn't seem to mean much and everyones a lot more casual with each other. Before the dominion and all that, DS9 really was a quiet little out-of-the-way place that, of course, was not the perfect environment to start a family, but at least wasn't facing the threat of being blown up each week like the enterprise (this changed very very fast, but O'Brien had no idea that was gonna happen when he first signed up for the job) Probably part of the reason O'Brien didnt like Julian at first was because he would have fit right in on the enterprise with his top of the class wanting to be the hero attitude. He even kept calling him sir at first, just like he did with all the officers on the enterprise (but... i dont need to explain how their relationship develops you already know) also there is just a lot less starfleet personnel on the station then there was on the enterprise and i would imagine there is a lot of turnover, so there would be a lot less options for friends, which would kinda force you to get closer to the people you do have.

If You had an otter as a familiar he would be happy nonetheless because you have the cutest familiar after faust of course, he would help you learn to take care of the little guy and he would think it would be adorable when he sees the otter wrap and cling themselves around your waist wanting to do anything to protect you from any harm or just to be absolutely adorable, when asra is pretending to sleep which happens often he would watch your familiar climb up onto your waist or your shoulders and would just sleep there as you walk around, he finds it amusing when your trying to read or do learn a spell when out of nowhere they climb up on to you and be all sweet and cuddly.  

Julian

He would have a mixed relationship with your familiar because I can imagine that he was attacked by a group of otters once in nevivon when he was kid, we don't know how and why he just was so he'll feel conflicted about you having an otter as a familiar, but when he sees you and your familiar playing together he'll put on a small smile but he'll still keep his distance but as he's working his shift at the clinic and you were visiting to give him his lunch your familiar would always cling to your waist and he would always think it's so cute but sometimes he swears he sees the little otter glare at him when he gets near you, one time he walked in on you reading a spell book and saw that your familiar was wrapped around your waist clinging to you and cuddling you, the only time he ever truly gets close is if he knows the familiar is asleep he's still a bit uneasy about it but when your familiar is being clingy and sweet he just melts.  

Lucio

Knowing Lucio with him he's probably never heard of an otter before because their not known in the south so he would be extremely confused on what the creature is and why its being so cuddly with you, sometimes he gets jealous of how much affection you give the little otter and sometimes he wishes he was that otter, every once in a while you would catch him glaring at your new little friend, you would just give him a little laugh before watching him pout like a baby as your familiar cuddled up with you as you slept or as you read while in the library, Lucio would always envy your little otter friend but at the same time seeing the little otter all cuddled up next to you either awake or asleep it would make his heart melt, but he would still get very jealous wishing he was the otter.  He may not get why your familiar is an otter but if it makes you happy then I guess it'll make him happy just as long as he gets cuddles and kisses in return.  

Muriel 

He would be thrilled that you have such a creature as a familiar, however it would probably take Inanna a while to get used to having another animal around.  He would of course help you take care of the otter if you need any help, if he walks in on you asleep he would always catch the otter curled up either next to you or on top of you, it would literally melt his heart, it's just so darn cute!  Every day when your out  playing with Inanna or out getting the wood for the fire place who would catch your otter friend attach itself to your leg or your side and probably ask for food or cuddles from you, muriel isn't really the type to get jealous but he secretly does he just keeps it to himself afraid you might get leave him if he gets jealous because of an otter.  But secretly you knew he was a bit jealous because everytime your otter friend would cling and cuddle up to you he would secretly throw a glare from here to there but of course he would do it when your not looking but you think it's cute, Muriel eventually warms up to the little otter friend and allows them to continue their clingy ness just as long as he gets some as well..  

Nadia

She would find your otter companion quite intriguing, if she's too busy with countless duties to give you attention then don't worry because your cuddly otter friend has you covered!  They would wrap themselves around you and start cuddling you and if Nadia isn't busy and at all then she would walk in and witness this cuteness, she would join in of course but sometimes she'll just watch as you sleep and cuddle the otter who is clinging to your side.  Every once in a while she would watch as you walk down the halls of the palace with your otter wrapped around your neck or your sides not wanting to let go, she thinks it's absolutely the cutest thing she has ever witnessed, sometimes your otter would even join nadia in her meetings and cling to her side if able.  It's just too cute to handle.   

Portia

She would squeal so much that you would think she broke a window.  But everytime she sees your otter familiar clinging to you in any way she would want to join in and sometimes your otter would cling to her or to the both of you, it's just so darn cute!  She loves your otter so much that sometimes pepi gets jealous but you caught pepi and your otter friend sleeping close to each other and it was so cute, Portia would alway tease you on how your otter is as clingy as herself and is as protective as her because one time when you were walking through the palace, lucio gave a dirty look at your otter friend ended up jumping on him scaring the heck out of him causing him to run off, their a good otter.  Portia and your otter friend get along so well that u ended up seeing them also asleep together, your otter friend also helps out when it comes to the shopping they remind you if you forget anything which happens a lot which is helpful.

God okay so another thing that gets my gears turning is that one bit in Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges when Julian says he’s incapable of making a diagnosis by simply looking at a man, to which Sloan replies, “Oh, your genetically enhanced friends determined that Gul Damar killed a woman just by watching him give a political speech. I’m sure you can do better than that.” Which he then very much does.

Because like,, up to this point in the series, I was kind of writing off the discrepancy between the abilities the other Augments have (learning Dominionese in one day, reading Damar’s entire backstory from his nonverbals, etc) and what we see from Julian both before and after Doctor Bashir, I Presume as purely a result of the writing problems that inevitably occur when you throw in a revelation like that so late in a show.

Which, yeah, I still think it is that. But in-universe, it makes the question of how Julian has so thoroughly managed to hide any signs of his augmentation this whole time much more immediate. Obviously this is something that a lot of other people have already examined, and probably more eloquently than I can, but I just want to work through my own thoughts on the topic.

So, assuming that Julian has roughly the same intellectual capacities as the other Augments, there are a couple possibilities:

[1] Julian is a brilliant actor. Since the very beginning of the show, he has been subtly playing up his own spotty observational/deductive skills in certain areas specifically to maintain his cover. This, of course, has profound implications for interpreting almost any scene he is in pre-DBIP (and particularly for all of his relationships with people who only ever see this persona). I mean god!! Confronting how complete an enigma the real Julian Bashir is if you accept this interpretation makes me feel insane.

But it also says something about all of his scenes after DBIP: That he can’t let it go. Can’t drop the façade, either because it’s ingrained habit to pretend or because he still believes (rightly or wrongly) that displaying his full potential will eventually lead to Starfleet changing its mind about letting him go free. Like, this guy is 3x more traumatized than he appears at any given moment.

[2] Julian intentionally avoids knowing/paying attention to things.

Not when it comes to medicine, for the most part. Sacrificing the well-being of a patient to keep his own secret is absolutely antithetical to his core values, and I’m unwilling to entertain the idea that his fundamental motives are a falsehood. At the very least, if he did ever hold himself back out of fear and put someone else at risk by doing so, it would eat him alive for the rest of his life. So that’s a whole ‘nother level of trauma that the show never gets a chance to address.

But, anyway, he avoids thinking too hard about what he’s capable of— forces himself not to think through problems that it would be suspicious for him to solve; possibly even denies himself access to information that it would be alarming for him to memorize too quickly which, given his deep curiosity and hunger for knowledge, would be an almost painful act of self-denial. And, again, this behavior is so ingrained that he keeps doing it even after his secret is out. He doesn’t even think to try doing what the other Augments have clearly demonstrated they can do (at least, not outside the events of Statistical Probabilities, which may have actually reinforced his self-limitation given how all that turned out).

So, yeah, both of these options are just absolutely fucking tragic and make me want to cry but I cannot stop thinking about either one.

It doesn't take you long to find Julian's hiding spot, not when you've come to know his habits like the back of your hand.

Taking hold of the rope securely attached to the top of the Scarlet's main mast, you make quick work it. Using all the little tricks you've learned on your time aboard to climb to the top, inside the scouting post.

Surprise briefly overcomes you at the sight of a half empty bottle of sweet wine, cradled loosely in the captain's hand. Julian, who promptly averts his gaze, something hard to decipher hardening the line of his lips.

"You sure don't make it easy for me," you jest, an attempt as any to lighten the mood as you take a seat at his side. A tight squeeze normally, but Julian is quick to adjust his body until you're comfortably pressed against his hip. "What crawled up your ass this time?"

"You've been hanging around Ilya too much," he deflects, the sweetness of the ale clinging to his breath. Then he finally turns toward you, a dragged out movement. "Care to guess who shoved a stick up my arse?"

You squint at him. "Oh come on, Julek, you can't blame me for stating the obvious," you mutter, snatching the bottle just as he's bringing it to his mouth. "Watching that poor girl's pining eyes was so painful." For more than one reason, too.

Julian scoffs, watching demurely the wine before tilting his head away, lose hair falling in waves over his shoulder. "As if that has anything to do with it."

Setting the bottle aside, you busy your fingers with something far more pleasing, scratching his scalp in lazy motions. "Are you really mad at me for saying it would be nice if you let yourself unwind, without pretending and with someone who doesn't reek of fish?"

Julian tries to resist, you see it in the stiffness of his shoulders, but eventually he crumples under your touch, leaning his head against your shoulder. Then, in a murmur, "You don't reek of fish."

"That's not the point, I—"

"That's exactly the point!" Julian bursts out, making your eyes widen in shock. "You're always proposing stupid solutions to problems you've created!"

You gape at him, equally confused and irritated. "Excuse me? What do I have to do with anything?"

In the vicinity of your limited quarters you see his hands clench and unclench over his knees, before muttering something in a language you don't recognize.

You flinch back instinctively when he turns toward you once more, holding perfectly still as he reaches out with both hands, pushing back the hair away from your face, lingering only to cup your cheeks.

"You see, darling, I had the most wonderful realization a little while ago," he says, golden liquid swimming in his eye. Perhaps a little dazed, but certainly rooted in the moment. "I don't care if the fates weave their threads a thousand times over, if they place a perfect little someone on my path."

Julian licks his lips, gaze going on a journey of its own before finding courage one last time. "I don't care because they wouldn't be you," he says, a little choked up. "I don't care because they've already gifted me their brightest star."

He places his lips against your forehead, keeping the contact alive for the breath of a second before pulling back. Hands falling back at his sides, mouth a thin line.

Then he musters up a sarcastic smile, one of those forced things you've come to hate vehemently in the many moons you've spent at his side. "Only problem being they're a little slow on the uptake. Trying to set me up with a fine young lady without realizing what they're doing to me."

Julian is so cat-coded. He is also a skinny as fuck twink. He's not trans or anything, he's just tall and lanky. Kiran is four inches shorter than him but is MASS. He's a tiefling during dnd, and tieflings don't have pupils. They also give off a general vibe of being a little uncomfortable. So he's just INCREDIBLY uncomfortable because he's creepy. He's disturbing! But it makes him cute because he wags his tail when he's happy. ON THE SUBJECT OF THE TAIL WAGGING he's royalty so he wears a corset beneath his shirt, jacket, and gloves. He's very fancy. The corset also functions to hold his tail in place so it stays up instead of drooping when he's sad or wagging when he's happy because that's consider undignified. Kiran gets really excited whenever he gets to see Julian wagging his tail.

THEY HAVE THREE KIDS!!! Maeve, Marigold, and Jasper. Kiran carried them (Transgenderism) and Maeve is like a little female Julian clone, she's a very tall lady. I want her. Marigold got none of the tall genes, she's a solid 5'6 (they're european so that's average) and she hates her freakishly tall family. She takes more after Kiran than Julian, aside from the tiefling traits. Jasper is mostly orc, but he still gets the purple skin tint from Julian. He's just shy. He wants to go to bed. Him and Marigold aren't far apart in age so he just follows her around, so everyone thinks they're a comedic duo but he didn't even do anything he just stood there

💐 - Fluff

Every now and then when they want to get away from the others, Julian and Robin go to the little nook they once spent the night in. It's quiet there, peaceful, and the small space makes it so easy to press their shoulders together and hold each other's hands. Julian's not ready to do that in front of the others yet - it's too intimate, too vulnerable. But out here where no one can see him he's not afraid to whisper all the loving things into Robin's skin he usually pretends he doesn't feel. He knows Robin's view on love and relationships is different and that he doesn't really need Julian to put his feelings into words, but Julian loves the way Robin's eyes crinkle with contentment every time he does and can't help but cherish these moments where the world stops existing around them.

💕- Soulmate AU

For most of his existence, Robin didn't have a soulmark on his body. He watched a little bird appear on his best friend's arm, a beautiful flower bloom on his sister's temple and a small mouse curl its tail around his brother's wrist but his own body always remained as bare as the day he'd been born. He didn't mind, though - soulmarks were special and like so many others, he'd always been ordinary.

As the centuries passed and his loneliness grew, he began to wonder what it would be like to have a soulmate, though - to know someone loved him unconditionally and would spend their life and death with him in a heartbeat. But then he saw the nightingale on Thomas's wrist fade and the rose on Isabelle's hand turn into a button, and he'd ask himself if all that pain was really worth it.

The day he played chess for the first time, he knew it was. Without him noticing, a small planet with pretty stripes appeared just above his right knee as he sat hunched over the chess board with Julian. He only saw it when he curled up for sleep that night, and it made his heart soar like nothing else ever had. It had taken ages but he finally belonged somewhere.

(Julian's soulmark took a little longer to appear but when it did, it came in the shape of a lightning bolt hidden behind his ear. Robin never tired of tracing his fingers over it.)

🌺 Flower Dance:

1. did your farmer dance with anyone in their first year?

No, everyone rejected him 🥲 Julian was not offended by this, because he was a stranger to many, and he himself did not insist on dancing. But some people's answers could be... not that harsh. It was fun for him to watch the dance of others, but for some reason an unpleasant aftertaste remained in his mouth.

2. do they like asking or being asked to dance?

Julian is open to both options, although he will politely decline if he already has a dance partner (or is already dating/married). Either way, why not, it will be fun! 😀

3. have they ever been interested in being flower queen?

In the case of Julian, he is more likely to claim the title "flowers king" 😄 ("Why? I could be a queen!"). But he's not too interested in it. Having a great time, friends and cold punch are more important to him.

4. are they confident about their dancing or do their skills meds work?

Bless his poor soul! If the movements are slow and not too difficult, then he will be an ideal dancer. Otherwise, don’t expect something enchanting from him like a split-jump or break dance. He can become more cocky and energetic while dancing (if he drinks too much punch). Though Julian started taking some dance lessons from Emily, so his dancing ability gets better and better with time.

5. do they dress up for the dance? where did they get their outfit?

I kind of wrote about this question earlier, but Julian is not too fond of wearing formal clothes, especially in late spring, when the summer heat is already approaching. Plain blue pants and a white shirt - that's all his clothes. There are a few more spring flowers in his hair (well, these flowers got there when he accidentally bonked a branch of a flowering tree in the forest, but we will pretend that this was intended 🤫).

🍁Spirit Eve:

1. what type of items does your farmer bring to their grange display? do they win the contest?

In his first year, Julian brought various only purple items: a purple fairy rose, a purple fish, a purple iridium bar, a purple crop and fruit, a purple amethyst, a purple cake, etc... Well, Julian did this for ✨aesthetics✨ 🤌 (well, mostly as a joke). But at the same time he managed to take first place. The fuck, how??????

2. what are your farmer’s favorite games to play?

Already answered this, but it's a fishing minigame! 🐠 🐟🐡

3. which game are they worst at?

Slingshot minigame. And it's not even because Julian can't shoot properly, he doesn't like slingshots in general.

4. how many tokens do they get by the time the festival is over? do they buy anything?

1000 tokens from the public display winnings, another thousand in the fishing game, and he bet all this on the wheel of fortune and won big. So its frequent amount is about 4000 tokens. Julian exchanges for those things that he wants, and gives the rest of the tokens to Jas or Vincent (and Leo, if he is already in Stardew Valley). Let the kids exchange them for some toys.

5. would your farmer set up a booth like robin or clint's? what would they display on theirs?

"Booth" - you mean that red and white tent? Then Julian will basically put his most unusual greenhouse-grown vegetables, fruits, berries or flowers there, which did not make it to the main display, but he still wanted to show his work. White strawberries, square watermelon, purple mushrooms - all that you will not see on store shelves. Everyone passing by stops and asks what it is and how you grew it, and Julian is just happy to share the story.

(I hope I translated the word "booth" correctly 😅)
