Okay, but on the flip side, Eddie's arc with time and loneliness and the sudden "I'm gonna die alone" thing could mean we could get Eddie properly trapped. Because, yes, he was alone in the bridge, but his radio was working and he had no reason to believe Buck wouldn't get to him. Now you put him alone in a sinking ship, stakes are higher, water can make the radios not work, so much can go wrong in a call like that. I'm saying Buck could drown, but remember the finale speculation where Buck would have to choose who to save? Bobby. Eddie. Water. Panic. It's all still possible.

Yeah that's fair, Dancing Shadows does have a cliche plot and it's not very realistic with Carlotta's backstory/development, but you can't deny, the book does earn its place as a golden age book :]

At least in my opinion anyway, the girls' brains were showcased like hell in that book and you love to see it. Also aesthetic, you can't deny the aesthetic

On Carlotta tho, yeah her character in general is probably by far the least realistic part of the book, but even then the focus was more on the judges trying to sabo the competition than Carlotta herself. Being real, her skill in ballet probably would've been more like uh

Okay if we're gonna go with the lore here, she is a self-taught ballerina whose skill allowed her to qualify for this mega-prestigious dance competition, so her skill would be (compared to everyone else in the competition) mid at best? I think? If we disregard everyone being like "beautiful, amazing, prodigy", she'd probably be mid in the competition. Don't get me wrong, that'd probably be a "WHAT" kinda skill level for someone in her situation, but uh yeah with Mice for Dance sabo-ing, girlie probably won't make it past first round, especially if the MfD judges were rig-y enough that only Colette and Violet, both classically trained students, made it among the Thea Sisters in the preliminary rounds, which, funny enough, was what would've happened in the book haha. Rousetti's vote really did carry her huh

Okay ramble over, main thing I liked about the book was the emphasis on the message of "it's not about if you went to a bougie-ass school, it's about if you genuinely care for the art and put effort into it". And the girls big-braining the crap outa getting the MfD judges and competitors exposed for their shenanigans. The switcheroo was a clever one change my mind

Also the theme of where the line where artistic legitimacy is drawn. The book has these debates peppered around about whether or not it truly matters what your background of education is in ballet in order for it to be legitimate ballet, highlighted especially in Vasily and Pyotr's debate, where Vasily believes that ballet should be open to influences from around the world, while Pyotr believes that authentic ballet only exists in the traditions taught in Russian dance schools. It's kind of a debate that happens in all forms of art in some flavor, and in the book, neither Vasily nor Pyotr are proven right or wrong, if that makes sense. Even when Carlotta makes it big, she's still kind of a point in Pyotr's favor, since she's a ballet nerd who studied as much as she could about the tradition and the art in general despite being a self-taught dancer who watched ballerinas dance from backstage and then copied their movements in front of a mirror to the best of her ability. So seeing where artists fall in that spectrum of the debate is something I find interesting (when ignorant idiots aren’t the ones debating).

I promised I wouldn't let this one go into my forgotten wip pile 🫡 It took me a lot of hot chips and being stoned out of my mind for the most part, but I'm finally happy with the results. Although I did redraw a couple character poses and move each fighters position about a hundred times 🫠.

This piece is set 6 years in the future from the game's set time (which means I get to mix in my hcs for everyone like ribbon having messily wrapped arms). They're all gathered in the bleachers, to cheer on the next generation of contestants fighting in the tournament. Although not many fighters look too different, others do! Sporting their original fighter fits for the celebration. :]

Anyways, happy 6 years to ARMS!!💪🥊

I'm still kinda excited to post this one, even though I'm about a month late kek. The ARMS community has by far been one of my favourites that I've been in. Everyone here is so kind and supportive of one another and although it's a small world, it's a great one. I'm just happy to be part of this fandom and I've enjoyed both the competitive and artistic aspects of it a lot! Returning to ARMS as a franchise broke my ongoing year-long art block and encouraged me to meet new people too. Can't thank those of you who've supported me enough! Those who have been around for years, and those of you who are new to my page alike :) Looking forward to another year of drawing and ranting about the best springy lads and lasses

Crazy week! Took my cat to the vet yesterday. Then today I was hanging out with a friend and her neighbor frantically knocked on the door saying her roommates dog was dying and she needed a ride to the vet. So I went again, and stayed there with her while they checked the dog out. Not to mention a debilitating text convo with my ex on Monday and also a strange interaction yesterday and this week is just wild.

#dog is ok #I am ok #life is just wild this week #oh and my cat is recovering #my life #also this girl was like you can just leave me here and I’ll walk home (like an hour!!) and I was like no I’m driving you home #then she was like well you could just drop me off at the bus station and I’ll go from there #and I was like no #it will take me 15 min to drive across the city we are driving you home #also it was like 10 pm I’m not letting her walk an hour accross the city at 10 pm goodness gracious

I think the secret to shizunfucking here is that Chidi is also completely bugnuts insane, I have NO idea how a portion of this fandom came to the conclusion that she's in anyway stable. She heard some music she liked and sat there unmoving for three days waiting for Ronghao to die so she could destroy her fate and later soul to bring him back as an immortal. Honestly in some ways she's crazier than Ronghao!!

The way they both look at the absolute trashfire of their lives and also the lives of many other people and can't help thinking "worth it, to have spent this time with you" is so! I think for me it's also that the fact that this is a terrible idea that will ruin their lives and both of them would be much happier if they were capable of making other choices is so apparent? Not that I need them to be punished by the narrative, but it rings true to me and that patina of realism makes it more compelling. also that it doesn't shit on changheng or the importance of his relationship to ronghao! I know it's not an official rival ship but still- he can't pursue his relationships with both of these people, he was always going to have to choose, he was always going to choose Chidi, and yet! He loved Changheng very sincerely and the show doesn't shy away from that.

finally got stimulant meds again after six months without modafinil, new medication cause insurance didn’t cover modafinil even tho i’m literally diagnosed with narcolepsy and this drug is primarily for adhd. they’re literally only $20 after copay i’m so fucking happy
