can i be fr for a minute?? sending abuse to people online for holding different views than you is not activism and in fact actively hurts your cause. most people are not extreme in their viewpoints, you can give them a new perspective if you're willing to spend some time explaining shit. if someone is saying something you disagree with and you rush in there to condescend to them and call them disgusting and subhuman and dont even TRY to explain calmly why their views are harmful, they're going to shut you out instantly and double down on their views.

most people are simply genuinely ignorant to the issues they're talking about - they just pick their views up from the news and the world around them and express opinions because that's what every person does. if you run in there and tell them they're scum for it, what then? if someone does that to you, are you going to think "maybe i should do some research" or are you going to think "this person is an asshole, im blocking them." a lot of you think you're activists and then refuse to do any kind of actual WORK to support your cause.

yknow every time i see hint of that argument that billy is awful because his reaction at the byers’ house was uncalled for i think of that one time i walked up to some kids who were two years younger than me screaming because they were mocking (just mocking mind you) my younger brother.

i was prepared to shove these kids away, i was utterly seething, and i am someone who would typically be considered nice, shy, and non-confrontational. so like… when you apply that feeling to a character like billy, in a situation where (as far as he was aware) his sister was in genuine physical danger, its a no-brainier that he’s going to be overly aggressive.

i get that his reaction was too much when you look at it objectively, but that wasnt a situation where he could think objectively. i feel like any criticism of his violence there is looking at him in a vacuum where pretty much all context has been stripped bare so of course it paints him to be as bad as some people say, which is honestly boring. feed me the nuance!!! its a muddy murky situation where no one is in the right, and so no one person is strictly in the wrong

i wrote this as a joke because I wanted to strangle a guy watching tiktoks without headphones on the bus, but im genuinely disturbed that we've gotten to a point where convenience comes first. and it depresses me even more that its used to justify and monetize greed

#like we have so many ways of doing things that could help us in the long run but because we're told it requires more work we just cant #its too resource intensive. or maybe its too much to maintain. we have to overlook benefits so money can go into more important things #we teach each other to do things a certain way so it works for everyone but who was it convenient for first? what abt who it might hurt?#i have to wonder if the rules our current system uses is worth listening to or following if it doesnt have our best interests in mind. u an #me and the ppl around us.. would we be better off if i ate my meals knowing the person who grew it wanted to feed others the way they could #feed themselves? and that isnt to say we're going to be happy doing it but i guess satisfied that its helping someone instead of quietly #accepting that itll eventually go in the dumpster behind a grocery store because it stopped looking appetizing or it wasnt on sale anymore #what about building homes so we can shelter each other? what if we were satisfied with what we did because we knew it would be paid back #with kindness? isnt that what we evolved to do?? heal each others bones and tell stories and help each other??#why dont houses come with solar panels or generators unless we find a way to make people pay to use the sun? why is our pooled money used #to fund genocides instead of education and hospitals? whose interests and convenience came first when we started this??#i wont pretend to know the answer because i dont. but we all know we're miserable and im sorry to say that i cant see myself fighting #for a world that wont fight for me too. why do we work if we cant live from it?? why did they stop us from plucking more teeth from our #bosses until they could build more walls around themselves and then go back to underpaying us??#im so tired. i cant even imagine making it to age 70 #yapping #vent

GUCCI: [rough] Yeah, I'll give it some thought.

BRNINE: Cool. Um. Yeah! Well, nice talk. Thanks for calling.

GUCCI: [laughs] We should talk — we should talk again soon, we shouldn't go this far between calls next time.

BRNINE: Okay.

GUCCI: Is, it's what you're supposed to say, right? When you think that, like, there will be a next time?

GUCCI: You know, they used to put people in these bombs. The Rapid Evening. They would put two people wherever they thought there might be so much trouble that they'd have to blow the whole thing up. And there'd be someone who's holding the detonator, and there'd be somebody else who was the bomb. Primary and Satellite.

And I— it's stupid, but [laughs] when I first started learning about this place, I got it in my head that you and me were like a Primary and a Satellite and I'd excised the bomb from the equation, but here we are, and you're gonna go climb into the bomb.
