i can imagine him bleary eyed waking up and squinting, trying to look for you through the crusties in his eyes- but that doesn’t work because all he sees is nothing. at most he sees a horribly mangled mosaic of blues on the wall that would normally make anyone nauseous. but to the eel, it felt just like home.

one hand raises to cover his eyes and his other hand slowly raises like the dead until your warm human flesh meets his cold merman hand, prompting him to you back into bed. where you belong this time he’ll make sure you don’t escape 😉

he definitely starts off all prim and proper when sleeping. you know the saying ‘snug like a bug in a rug?’ that’s jade (i want him to wear a sleep cap but i don’t think he does unfortunately 😔)

i can imagine jade slowly shifting his position to sleeping on his stomach. some how he still manages to keep a tight grip on you like a handlebar in a roller coaster, so it takes some squirming to get out of the eel’s iron clad grip.

but nonetheless you quietly patter over to the bathroom

i think jade is more of a light sleeper than floyd so the moment the door to his dorm closes he’s peeling his golden eye open while softly kicking his leg (phantom movement cause he was trying to kick his tail 🙈)

i can imagine jade actually growling when he realizes you’re not there. refusing to get up, jade turns his head towards the door as he tries to make out the shapes of his room. but to no luck cause everything is just pitch black.

he’s waiting, sinking himself in deeper to the bed as he opens his other eye. just in time, the door creaks open and the light from the hallways splits through the opened door.

softly, you tip toe in and close the door.

alls fine and well until your in arms length of the bed, silently celebrating on not waking up your boyfriend until a cold, deathly hand seizes your shoulder and drags you into the cavern of blankets and pillows.

jades now on his side glaring,,, squinting? as he puts an arm around you with a low throaty grunt. once your nestled in his arms to his exact liking, the eel will slip back to sleep- he’s a liar, i’m a liar.

both of the twins don’t fall asleep immediately. even though they’re both blind as a bat they’re listening. listening to the slowing of your breathe with their grey eye peeled open.

they’re feeling the once rapid fire of your heart even out into a steady rhythm of beats.

it’s not until you’re dead asleep do they both shift your position slowly, lazily onto their chest. legs intertwined with yours and strong arms wrapped tightly around your waist, like a child hugging a stuffed animal, afraid of the deep shadows that linger in the corners of their room.

not until they’re certain you’re not getting up and out of their poor eyesight do their muscle relax and bodies sink into the mattress, ready to slip off into dream land with their little shrimpy🤭

Imagine you're having the shittiest day at work. You're gritting your teeth and hanging onto it by your fingernails, knowing that eventually dealing with this absolutely idiotic, waffling, overstuffed, condescending dipshit of a client will be done with, you'll charge him out the nose for your services - which will probably be, like a hundred dollars, the way this is going! What bullshit. At least afterwards, you can collapse onto the bed and complain to your spouse about it. Which you have been doing, actually, waiting for a decent excuse to bail or check out early.

Then you get a text. And it's your partner saying they got you a brand new console, your favorite pizza - Oh! And a million bucks in untraceable cash - but you might have to kick your shitty client in the nuts so hard his eyes pop out. Does that sound... okay? No pressure or anything.

The reason Bill was a minute later than expected is because even he needed a moment. It was the sheer whiplash from going from Shit to Fucking Amazing.

🐍💚Syzoth Likes to Cuddle💚🐍

(This rant be a bit spicy and has a AFAB!Reader mention at the end! Just a little heads up for ya, babes!)

More Syzoth because I can’t think of any other MK1 characters at the moment!

So, you know how reptiles are cold-blooded and require outside heat sources to keep warm? Well, by default, Zeterrans are cold-blooded creatures as well.

And with that, it’s safe to stay that Syzoth has required outside sources of heat to maintain a healthy body temperature his whole life. He’ll lay in the sun, take long warm baths, wear warm clothes, sleep under thick blankets, anything to keep him warm. He also needs extra layers during the colder months, but he doesn’t need to worry all that much about it because Outworld is usually quite warm, even during the “winter months”, only mountains get really cold and start snowing in Outworld, so Syzoth is pretty safe when it comes to being warm.

So, you can imagine how awful it felt when he visited your house on Earth during the winter season.

How were you feeling alright? It was freezing! Even inside of your home!

You had to get him plenty of warm blankets and thick clothes that were meant for outside for him to wear while he was curled up on your couch trying not to freeze to death. He did enjoy the coffee and hot chocolate you offered him, he preferred the coffee because the hot chocolate was way too sweet for him to handle, but it was still good.

But that was the only good thing about being cold in your house, the rest was awful.

He was dumbfounded that you weren’t freezing cold or at least wrapped up a little more. But you were just in a simple long sleeved shirt (SLEEVES ROLLED UP), a pair of leggings, and socks.

AND YOU WERE FINE?!

Syzoth had never really spent much time around humans or even other people for that matter, being made an outcast his whole life. So when he asked you how you were even surviving the cold with such thin layers, you were confused and just said your body heat helped you.

And sweet babie boy just went-

*am confusion reptile noises*

Because he’s never really heard of the concept of natural body heat, he just thought that everyone else was built for colder climates and didn’t need as much outside sources of heat to maintain a healthy body temperature, unlike him. And, technically he wasn’t wrong because people still need clothes to keep warm during colder months, but he was also wrong at the same time.

So he was just confused and asked you if you felt your body heat and could regulate it willingly. And he got even more confused when you explained only being able to feel when you were cold or hot and not being able to regulate your body temperature willingly and the fact that humans have a body temperature that is usually just constant due to the heat conduction produced from cells making energy or “food” for themselves so they can keep running and this and that and—

Syzoth was looking at you like you were a psychopath as you tried to teach him about human cells and all the things you could remember from the cells unit in your high school biology class.

Babe, quit trying to be a biology teacher when you barely remember the material yourself-

And since you saw you were getting nowhere fast, you decided to just say “fuck it” and unbury Syzoth form his makeshift warmth nest and show him what you meant. And he protested until you joined him in the middle of the mound of warm blankets and began cuddling him.

And his life was changed forever.

You were so warm!

You felt like you’d been laying out in the sun under a rock in the nice summer heat, but you didn’t even have a chance to do that with the current weather situation! You were just naturally warm?!

And after that, Syzoth became hooked on cuddling and began to drag you to cuddle whenever you both had spare time.

He was just cold-blooded and had never experienced body heat before and now he was just so happy! Because he could warm up quickly by just holding onto you and staying still!

Also, he can no longer sleep without cuddles.

Jin the Abandoned Alchemist

Redesigned. I changed my Alchemist!MC Jin's design to have more wizard vibes and I think I gave him the standard Disney villain colour scheme. Welp.

Pronouns: He/Him Birthday: September 13 Height: 5’7 / 171 cm Personality: Gentle, awkward nerd trying his best Likes: Books, libraries, gardening, tea, sewing, learning new things (especially of the magic variety), cuddles Dislikes: Hurting people, cruelty, spicy food, heights, the cold, liars, public speaking Fatal flaw: Often lets his past and self-doubt consume him. Other: Carries around a small rabbit plush named Aster that he made when he was younger. He’ll eventually give her to his love interest as a good luck charm (enchanted with a small protection spell, too — yes, this boy would give a protective charm to an eldritch horror because he genuinely worries for their safety) if they’re close enough Yes, this was 100% inspired by Hades Quote: “I don’t think this was covered in my studies… Oh well! Trial and error is a perfectly valid method of learning.”

Jin is kind, gentle, inquisitive, curious and a bit naive from his sheltered upbringing. He’s always yearned for adventure, but never believed it was possible with his curse. Now, he finally gets his wish, though he had little choice in the matter.

Very socially awkward and easily flustered due to his lack of experience interacting with other people. And now, with his mentor’s betrayal, he’s a bit more reserved, unsure of who to trust.

Non-confrontational but quietly sassy. Ais might bring that side out of him more.

Jin calls him “Ais-hole” in his head. He’s aware that it’s not a particularly witty or even good insult, but it makes him feel better when the latter annoys him.

Book smart and street dumb

Jin tends to see the best in people, even to his own detriment.

Has avoided touch like the plague. He’s always careful not to get too physically close to someone, and because of this, he’s usually very observant and aware of his space. Not that he doesn’t crave physical affection. He definitely burst into tears when touching Leander for the first time.

This poor boy is touchstarved (ha) but he’ll never ask for physical affection, for fear of either, at worst, hurting someone or at best, being a nuisance.

He also struggles with a lot of guilt for craving touch since he knows it’s dangerous to other people and it’s selfish to yearn for things that put other people in danger, right?

I'm not sure whether this is canon or not, but I wrote his curse as gradually growing, both in surface area and in power. When he was an infant, the curse was only in his fingertips and it didn't make anyone lose their minds. One touch would bring horrible, unmentionable thoughts but those thoughts would pass.

As he grew older, the curse spread from his fingers to his palms to his hands, up his forearms and his elbows. Its effects also grew in intensity. What was a horrible, but instantaneous thought became one minute of terror, then two, then an hour, and so on, and the nature of them grew worse. Currently, it dooms anyone it touches.

And the curse is spreading still. Jin views his curse as a ticking time bomb, so he is desperate to find a cure as soon as possible. He doesn't know what will happen when it consumes him entirely. He is terrified of becoming a monster.

He used to have dark brown eyes, but the curse made his eyes gold. His left sclera has taken on the dark grey and the gold veins of the curse. I imagine that when — if — he is cured, they'll turn back to their original brown.

Adores plants and plushies — soft things that he’s able to touch without hurting. He has a small stuffed rabbit named Aster that he made when he was younger, one of the first things he’s sewn. She has a hidden pocket to carry herbs or small potion bottles. He places lavender and chamomile in Aster when he has trouble sleeping.

He's a bit embarrassed about his love for plushes. His old magic mentor found his fixation undignified. And really, he shouldn't be needing or craving such creature comforts, as if he was still a child.

He has his plants, though. That's something useful and conducive to his studies.

He talks to his plants sometimes when gardening. “You wouldn’t go mad on me, would you, matricaria chamomilla? … Although, since I’m currently talking to a plant, you’re probably not the one I have to worry about going mad.”

Before coming to Eridia, he used to grow and make his own tea blends. If he wasn’t an alchemist, he wouldn’t mind opening a tea shop.

His spellbook was given to him by his old mentor. It acts as a notebook for magic studies and research, but he also uses it as a diary, somewhere to doodle and write down his thoughts.

He has some trauma surrounding magic, considering that it was a big part of his relationship with his mentor, but he genuinely loves learning and mastering it. He’s always believed himself to be a burden, but magic is something that he can use to actually help others instead of harm them. Despite everything that’s happened, he can’t help believing he owes that gift to his old mentor.

The Senobium always sounded like a dream to him, so hearing that there is darkness beneath the promises of knowledge and wisdom and history is extremely disappointing, to say the least. He’d had hopes of eventually becoming a student.

Aside from matters of his curse, he tries to be as honest and sincere as he can be. Eridia is a city that runs on information, but he chooses to freely give what information he can. He doesn’t believe in withholding answers that could help someone in need. And that is part of how he loses faith in the Senobium after discovering that they’ve closed their gates. All the knowledge of the world, locked away as people suffer, and for what?

This is also probably influenced by his mentor’s betrayal, having been lied to his entire life inclines him to prefer the truth, whatever the cost.

Sometimes, he regrets running away. Was he too hasty? Was he selfish? He was hurt when he learned her true plans for him, but maybe he owed it to her. A small thing to repay the mage who had taken him in. If all he brought was pain and terror, what was a bit of suffering on his part for answers?

im sure youve talked about this before, but speaking of enorace, how do you think enoch helps him with the nightmares?

So this is a long one and no I’m not sorry I really really really like talking about these two.

So. We got two options here.

If Horace somehow hasn’t woken up yet but the others have, Enoch is a wreck. He’s always been the most nervous when Horace is having a nightmare. Hugh used to joke that he didn’t think Enoch had feelings at all until the first time Horace woke him up with a night terror, and the others figured out something was up with their relationship when Enoch somehow got even worse about it when no one else thought that it was even possible to be more worried. He’s pacing the hallway, he’s messing with his hands, and the second Miss Peregrine says he’s awake and they can check on him he’s at Horace’s side, making sure he’s not too shaken up. If he can beat Miss Peregrine to Horace’s door he’ll go in and wake him up himself, which is honestly Horace’s preferred outcome if he absolutely has to wake anyone up. Enoch will hold him, and they’ll talk about everything that Horace is willing to, and eventually Horace will either go back to sleep or he’ll follow Enoch to the basement to have that company a little while longer.

If Horace wakes up on his own (the significantly better option in Horace’s opinion, due to lack of worry on the others’ part and screaming on his,) he’ll make his way down to the basement because Enoch never sleeps and the second Enoch opens that door he knows what happened. He pulls Horace into his room and essentially the same exchange as the first option occurs, they talk until Horace is feeling better and Enoch doesn’t let go of him that whole conversation, telling him he’s safe now, the bad dreams can’t get him, it’s okay now. More often than not Horace will stay up with Enoch after having gone downstairs himself, both because Horace is afraid to be alone and Enoch wants to be absolutely sure he’ll be okay before he lets him out of his sight.

If Horace goes down to the basement in either scenario and is too scared to go back up (which is most of the time,) Enoch will pretty much always see this and go “nope. You’re staying with me” and they’ll cuddle until they fall asleep together. Helping with Horace’s nightmares is the only time Enoch ever actually sleeps in his bed, most of the time he finds a tight spot somewhere or he passes out on his desk, but his brain shuts up about being in too open of a spot to feel safe and he usually sleeps better than normal with Horace in his arms.

This is one of those things that I don’t think changed too much before and after they start dating. They’ve done this for decades, the biggest changes to their routine after they’re together are the amount of kisses Horace gets to help him feel better and how much more protective over his boyfriend Enoch is, especially at the beginning of their relationship. If Enoch can’t fight whatever made Horace cry, he can glare daggers at whoever is making it worse by keeping him awake longer than he needs to be.

Also, if Horace goes down to the basement, he knows he’s almost certainly not coming back up that night, so he leaves a note on his door letting Miss Peregrine know where he is when she comes to wake him up. While she’s not particularly thrilled with the arrangement, she truly doesn’t mind too much. She knows both of them, she knows how big of a security blanket Enoch typically is for Horace, and if she sees that note on Horace’s door she’ll usually let them both sleep in a bit longer, knowing they’re her two children most in need of a little extra rest.

i did a bad thing :)
