the premise of jjk is that children’s innocence should be protected it doesn’t matter how gifted or strong they are and it’s about breaking cycles of abuse and about the children who weren’t cared for turning curses into blessings both literally and figuratively bc sorcerers turn cursed negative energy into a force for good, and gojo turned his heartbreak and betrayal from geto into caring for and mentoring megumi, whose name literally means BLESSING, and the other central struggle of jjk being how do we save those we love and who CAN we save, and is love a curse or a blessing, and gojo, after his heart is broken by geto, says the only people he can save are those who are already ready to be saved by another, and that’s megumi. megumi who tells yuji, fine, if you can’t save everyone then save me. megumi, the blessing, who is ready to be saved, unlike geto, the strongest curse user, who is unable to be saved bc he is lost in the twisted thinking he was left to because he was a CHILD left alone. and whether the series ends happily or whoever survives or if it is devastating, i believe in some way geto and gojo’s love cursed the world, bc gojo couldn’t bring himself to stop geto, and bc they were so strong together that people left them to their own devices despite being children, but megumi and yuji’s love will save it, whether or not either of them will survive, bc yuji was cursed by his grandfather to save who he can save, even if it’s just one person, and that one person may well be megumi, the reason he is able to keep going. and yuji, the protagonist will be able to win in some way because right at the beginning megumi saved him, for “personal reasons” as gojo says, literal love at first sight, but it won’t be who is the strongest that matters but whose love is strongest bc gojo says to yuta love is the strongest curse of all and that is the only thing that is able to beat geto in the end and -

synopsis. you’d always wait for satoru.
tags. JJK CHAP 236 SPOILERS, it’s like fluff and angst but neither at the same time yk
Tumblr media
"took you long enough."
satoru blinked twice, those icy lashes fluttering as his blurry gaze focused on the figure next to him. he hadn't heard that voice in so long that it barely felt real, a fragment in his memories.
"i thought you'd be at least a little bit happy to see me," your lips were tilted up in a grin that easily met your eyes. you're eighteen: white blouse tucked into a long skirt and your hair twisted up away from your face. there's a sliver of silver peeking up from below your collar and he didn't need to see the necklace fully to know that the characters on the bottom spelt his name.
you were gorgeous.
"i'm always happy to see you," it was unnatural for satoru's voice to be so quiet and gentle and your laugh created a symphony he'd long forgotten. it had been six excruciating years since he'd last been blessed with your joy.
the last time he had seen you you were twenty-two, a white cloth covering your body. a mission gone wrong. that was what shoko had told him and he just had to accept it, because what else could he do?
he was the strongest until it mattered.
"smile a little for me toru, i've missed you," you were bubbly but there was a tenderness in your tone. you were dead, and now so was he, it wasn't something someone could acknowledge lightly.
but he was here, with you, and so despite it all he did as you wished, the smile he reserved only for you. there was a brief moment, the two of you staring lovingly into the other's eyes as you adjusted to this new reality: one where curses didn't exist and gojo satoru was just gojo satoru.
"you waited for me?" satoru asked, his glasses dropping further down his nose as his blue eyes flicked to your lips - the lips that had once been so familiar to him.
"we all did," you nudged his shoulder lightly and pointed in the direction of a vending machine where haibara and geto were arguing whilst nanami watched in eternal disappointment.
satoru swallowed thickly, blinking quickly like that could stop the tears that wanted to spill down his cheeks.
the gentle touch of your hands against his face redirected his attention back to your pretty face. `'you're safe now, pretty boy. you've done all that you could for them, you can have peace now."
them. megumi, yuji, nobara, yuta, all of his students past and present. it hurt him to know that they were now facing kenjaku and sukuna without him, but death offered him a freedom he'd never had before. the peace you spoke of; not having to constantly be on alert for the next assignment or worry that he would be seeing his students in the morgue, it was a bliss he wanted more than he'd care to admit.
so he wouldn't admit it.
instead, he kissed you, his dead heart beating loudly in his ears as he remembered what it felt like to truly be alive.

My work amount has finally lessened, so here I am.
Imagine being MILF/DILF and the different sorcerers and curses are obsessed with you.
Aged up characters, reader is in their 40s, because when I say milf/dilf, I mean it.
This is more of an introduction, let me know if you want something more about a specific character.
Tumblr media
Imagine living in a small house you got for cheap, and on accident near the Jujutsu campus. You aren't a curse user, but you respect the spirits because you grew up with a superstitious parent or grandparent. And because you're hot and have a nice personality, the curses tend to leave you alone.
Maybe they just end up hanging around your place, because who wouldn't wanna stick around to watch a hot milf/dilf walking around in nothing but a pair of shorts and a too tight t-shirt.
After moving into your home, cursed energy started getting concentrated around your home, much to the worry of the sorcerers at the campus. They might assume you are an illegal curse user or somehow summoning curses. Imagine their surprise when Gojo and Nanami pull up to see curses clustered around the window, being peeping toms.
The curses are easy to get rid of, as it's nothing too extreme. Gojo being Gojo would want to see what they were so distracted by, and he almost ends up pulling his blindfold up to get a good look, because there you are. Walking around your home in a pair of way too small shorts and what was probably once a band t-shirt. It's so washed out that the print is gone, and the fabric is way too thin.
Nanami would grumble and be annoyed about Gojo being a creep, until he meets you too one day when you are bringing groceries in. Being the gentleman he is, he helps you carry it all inside, and he can't explain why he gets so red afterwards after you squeezed his bicep and complimented his muscles.
You don't really understand why these two handsome younger men, because they are much younger than you, keep hanging around your place. In your own eyes you don't think you are too attractive, if at all, maybe you're divorced, or you lost your last spouse somehow. Your kids are all grown up and out doing their own thing. You aren't as fit as you once were, having kids does that to a person.
If you're a dilf, maybe you have the blessed dad strength and dad bod, maybe you've worked a physically taxing job for most of your life, so now your body is worn down enough that you have to do something else. The muscle still lays there though, under the layer of chub on top.
If you're a milf, you would have given birth to your kids once upon a time, and the baby weight never truly went away. The stretch marks and other signs of age are one of the things you feel insecure about, but little do you know, it only makes you more attractive in the eyes of your admirers.
That is to say, in your own eyes, you aren't a catch. So you don't understand why Nanami shows up on your specified shopping days or gardening days, or why Gojo shows up almost begging for your attention. You end up just assuming they are being nice, and since your kids don't visit you much anymore, you let them(mainly Gojo) invade your home.
Imagine meeting their students, most likely a result of Gojo dragging them along. They're younger than your own kids, so you can't help but find yourself caring about them. When Yuji starts stuttering and sputtering when you hug him, or when Megumi goes bright red when you place a hand on his forehead to check it he has a cold, you fear you may have overstepped your boundaries.
In reality it's because when you hug Yuji, your breasts/pecs press up against him, especially if you are somehow taller than him and he ends up with his face in-between your chest. For Megumi it's because when you lean down, the collar of your shirt has a tendency of sliding down, showing off more cleavage than you realize.
When Todo gets dragged along you assume he's just another friendly young man, as he's going out of his way to be so helpful. You don't notice the way the other students glare when Todo shows you how to stretch your shoulders and legs because your muscles have been acting up.
If it's when Yuji still had Sukuna sealed inside him, poor Yuji won't hear the end of it. Sukuna would be saying the most lewd things about you, claiming you are teasing them on purpose with the clothes you wear or how you act. Yuji's had to grip his own wrist when Sukun tried to take over to grope you when you were bent over grabbing something.
If you end up meeting Choso, you immediately find yourself caring for him. He barely has to be introduced before you pull him inside, place him on your couch, wrap him in a blanket and bring him snacks. He just looks so sad and like he needs to be loved on. He wouldn't completely understand the deep attraction he has for you in the beginning, and it's only after he gets help from others that he understands. They all just sigh and pat him on the back all "welcome to the club brother"
I could go on, but this is already long.

and maybe in this lifetime, I'm the bride
YOU can't bear the pain anymore, so you just let yourself fall— hoping your two lovers would understand.
Tumblr media
— 2019
⠀ ⠀⠀It's just you now.
⠀ ⠀⠀Everyone dies, almost everyone you know is no longer by your side. Again, again and again, you're alone. Always. It will always be like that. Everyone leaves, leaving you alone. It's as if fate forces you to stay alive just as a reminder, as a piece of walking memory. And every day your shoulders continue to slump due to carrying this burden, until sometimes you feel unable to walk, even to crawl.
⠀ ⠀⠀It's been months since Gojo Satoru's death. He just left you and now everyone hopes you will continue living normally. Expecting you to keep fighting as if all your friends hadn't died, as if now all your souls hadn't left, Satoru and Suguru. Feeling your breath catch every time you open your eyes and feeling all the responsibility placed on your shoulders just because you are alive. You don't want to live if all you feel is tired. Feeling with every step a large rock chained around your neck, making your steps falter every time.
⠀ ⠀⠀Every day you hate everyone more, you hate curses more than you should. It feels unfair how they can let the strongest die first while you who are weak can live longer. You hated the higher-ups—you never hated anyone more than you hated them. It was the higher-ups who were responsible for all your friends' deaths, Satoru's death. They and the clan heads who felt that it was okay to send anyone to fight against the curse while they just sat on chairs made from ill-gotten money and the bones of witches. Just how unfair the world you live in is.
⠀ ⠀⠀You felt sick of having to fight and heal people afterwards, with Shoko. You were sure he felt the same way. Feeling stuck with the obligation to fuel a tank that should have been empty years ago. You grew more and more disgusted every time you succeeded in healing the witches— knowing you would only send them back to the endless battlefield. Continue like that until you feel that their death is a blessing and their health is a curse.
⠀ ⠀⠀ “Y/n?”
⠀ ⠀⠀You turn around.
⠀ ⠀⠀Yuuji Itadori.
⠀ ⠀⠀You look at the face that is usually decorated with joy and a big smile, now it's just empty. The wound between his eyes and lips was clearly visible. His brown eyes no longer radiated the life they had when he first came to Jujutsu High. You feel sorry for the young man in front of you. Too young to be cursed, too young to see how the world works, too young to lose his soul.
⠀ ⠀⠀“Are you okay?” he asked.
⠀ ⠀⠀He knew the answer, of course, but he chose to ask anyway. You didn't answer but turned your gaze back to the front. Yuji stepped towards you and stopped when he arrived beside you. Both hands were on the fence and faced forward for a moment. The two of you stood in silence before a sigh finally left Yuji's mouth and he turned to you. He tucked your hair behind your ear to see your face better from the side. It feels like he is looking in a mirror every time he looks at your face. The same expression that had been plastered on your face ever since Satoru died. An expression that showed that you had lost your soul, the same expression that he is gonna have once Megumi sooner or later once Sukuna was out of it.
⠀ ⠀⠀“We need to move somewhere safe,” he said.
⠀ ⠀⠀You chuckled sarcastically. There is no safe place, Yuji knows that. “I'll be waiting,” he said. He kissed your head before leaving you alone. You took a deep breath. Itadori Yuji is just like Gojo Satoru, just like you. He won't last long once Sukuna leaves Megumi's body—Megumi's death. The rest of them will die like the rest of your friends, falling one by one like dust. And there you will be, standing with wounded hands, picking up the pieces and healing whoever is left. Killing curses, burning skulls, and healing wounds, over and over again in an endless loop. Your version of infinity.
⠀ ⠀⠀I'm not sure how much of this I can take
⠀ ⠀⠀You can't get through the day without burning your lungs. Spend 3 packs every day. Forcing yourself to give your hand something to hold. One of you is holding a cigarette or burying your hand between the skulls of your lifeless friends. Inhaling deeply the scent of cigarettes in hopes of overpowering the smell of burning skulls. Apart from Shoko, no one can understand what you do, no one can do what you do. You feel guilty for the power you have.
⠀ ⠀⠀“Both you and Suguru understood that..”
⠀ ⠀⠀You try to save whoever you can, but every day you don't want to. Healing them makes you feel like you cursed them and that hurts you. Healing them only means they can suffer even worse than they already have to. “God, they're just kids..” You started to forget their names, you had to. You shouldn't let yourself get too connected to them.
⠀ ⠀⠀Now you're the last one, there's no more Satoru and Suguru, just you. And yet you still feel left behind. Excluded, the eternal third wheel.
⠀ ⠀⠀“I'm not even allowed to follow you to the afterlife, am I?”
⠀ ⠀⠀Satoru left everything under your care and now you're starting to feel guilty because your anger at him for his lack of attention because this is too much. People look up to you for protection when in reality you want them all dead, so that they no longer feel pain. It is very difficult for you to tell them the truth—say that they will die soon or say that they must say their goodbyes to their loved ones, or to the people they love.
⠀ ⠀⠀You wish you had the luxury to shout at them to run as far as they can, to fight for their youth— “But I'm not strong like you, Satoru,” you whisper.
⠀ ⠀⠀“I hope you're happy, Satoru, I really do.”
⠀ ⠀⠀You take a deep breath. Your sad and empty eyes stare straight ahead. Another expanse of blue and skyscrapers as far as your eyes can see. The gentle breeze gently kisses your skin which now seems to no longer have any color. Clarify yourself who looks like a walking corpse.
⠀ ⠀⠀“You've been so sad it became all you were, maybe in death you'll let that sadness go.”
⠀ ⠀⠀You smiled and stretched your arms into the air. Your eyes are closed. You slowly inhale, letting the scent of spring fill your lungs.
⠀ ⠀⠀“And maybe in death I'll let that sadness go too.”
⠀ ⠀⠀With a smile, you let yourself fall.
⠀ ⠀⠀From the 28th floor.
⠀ ⠀⠀
Tumblr media
⠀ ⠀⠀
⠀ ⠀⠀You open your eyes.
⠀ ⠀⠀Your eyes are met with a field of flowers as far as the eye can see. The sky was pink with orange and purple mixed beneath it—showing how the sun was about to set. Your face shines due to the sunlight that kisses you tenderly. The color in your face now appears again, showing the redness in your cheeks and the life in your eyes. You feel more alive than ever. You don't feel anything, you don't feel sadness, pain, anything.
⠀ ⠀⠀You feel happy, after a long time.
⠀ ⠀⠀The gentle wind brushes your skin and hair, making it blow backwards. The wind makes the flower leaves fly away from you. You turned around to see where the leaves were flying. Your feet lightly run, running slowly following where the leaves lead. You felt so incredibly happy that a small laugh came out of your mouth as you ran.
⠀ ⠀⠀Your steps stopped when your gaze fell on the backs of two people you knew so well. Stand next to each other and look straight ahead. Your smile slowly disappeared and your eyes opened wide. Instantly, tears quickly rolled down your cheeks when one of them turned to look at you. His white hair moved to and fro following the wind. He opened his arms wide and at the same time someone next to him turned to look at you.
⠀ ⠀⠀ Without you realizing it, your feet quickly ran until your body hit two people's bodies until their bodies staggered slightly backwards. Your arms wrapped around their neck tightly while your chin rested on their shoulder. You're crying. After letting yourself bottle it all up for months now you finally let yourself cry. Spilling out all the pain and longing there.
⠀ ⠀⠀“Oh, my love..”
⠀ ⠀⠀Those two people, your two lovers— they put their arms around your waist, pulling you close and burying their faces in your neck. For a moment, you stand and remain in that position. You can feel the small kisses that your two lovers give accompanied by soft words saying how much they miss you. You just keep crying. Can't help yourself after feeling their warm embrace for so long.
⠀ ⠀⠀“I thought I told you not to come to us too fast,” Satoru broke the silence as he moved his face away from your neck and looked at you. He stood up straight to look at your face, as did Suguru. “You shouldn't be here, not this fast,” said Suguru. His hand flew up and landed on your wet cheek. You closed your eyes and leaned closer into his palm, missing the warmth of your lover. His thumb caressed your soft, wet cheek.
⠀ ⠀⠀“I miss you,” was all you could say.
⠀ ⠀⠀You opened your eyes to look at Suguru. You realize some things when you look at them. His black hair now looked longer than the last time you saw him and he let it hang loose—blown by the wind. And Satoru, no longer wears a blindfold or glasses, letting his beautiful blue eyes blend with the sky. Looks more beautiful than usual.
⠀ ⠀⠀“Oh, my love— must be so hard for you, you must be lonely.”
⠀ ⠀⠀Yes.
⠀ ⠀⠀But now not anymore.
⠀ ⠀⠀It's not just you now.
⠀ ⠀⠀Satoru is here with you, Suguru is here with you. In a place you don't know what to call, a place you don't know where it is. A place that for the first time makes you feel happy again, like the summer of 2006. A place that makes you for the first time not feel afraid to stay alive. The place that first made you want to live.
⠀ ⠀⠀There was a feeling of inevitability in your heart now, just like the first time you met your two lovers. The sense that you would be together, how every smile, every whispered brings you closer to the impossible conclusion.
⠀ ⠀⠀You feel the warmth that you have longed for. Strangely, you start to hope as if fear was never in your heart. Your dreams are big and you are so sure that this time everything will come true. Feeling like you and your lover will lose track of day and night, counting the stars and waiting for the sun to rise the next day. Without feeling afraid that you will run out of time.
⠀ ⠀⠀You smiled faintly as your eyes looked straight ahead. You feel happy. Satoru who was sitting next to you smiled looking at your face which was covered in orange light from the side. You sat next to him and your body straightened while he leaned back in the chair. “Now I'm full, my lovely star,” — he keeps looking at you with a gentle smile on his lips. Looking at you like you put the stars in his sky. Looking at you like you're the star itself.
⠀ ⠀⠀“You're staring again, 'Toru,” you said and finally turned around. A thin, sweet smile perched on your lips. Satoru widened his smile before he tucked your hair behind your ear. “I miss you,” he whispered, still smiling making you chuckle slightly. “I miss you more,” you whispered back, this time he was the one who chuckled a little.
⠀ ⠀⠀“You must have suffered a lot after Suguru left, I'm sorry for forgetting you. Those summers included to you just as much as they belonged to me, and he is yours just as much as he is mine, I'm sorry I took that away from you—”
⠀ ⠀⠀He paused, “I mean— it's too late, we're already dead but still, I'm sorry. I love you just as much as I love him—”
⠀ ⠀⠀“I love you too,” you interrupted.
⠀ ⠀⠀Satoru fell silent again— just staring at you with his blue eyes wide open. He gently pulled you up to hear and wrapped his arms around your body. He kissed your head as you rested your head on his shoulder. He breathed a sigh of relief as if the last burden weighing on his shoulders had disappeared instantly.
⠀ ⠀⠀“Satoru, Y/n!”
⠀ ⠀⠀You both looked back to find Suguru standing not far behind you with a smile on his lips. Walk along a stretch of green grass with flowers on your right and left. Your hands locked with Suguru and Satoru's, feeling their warmth. As you walk down the street, you see some people who are familiar to you. One of them waved at you and smiled broadly.
⠀ ⠀⠀And a second later you were in Haibara's arms. A cheerful laugh came out of his mouth. “Easy there, Y/n,” he said and wrapped his arms around you. Haibara smiled softly as she looked down at you. His hand stroked your hair gently. “I always knew that you're pretty, but seeing how pretty you look when you're older makes me upset for not staying a little longer,” he said. You laughed, “Oh, God, I miss you,” you said. He chuckled.
⠀ ⠀⠀“You're not supposed to be here, Y/n, not yet,” a deep voice said. “Nanami! I miss you,” you turned from Haibara to the man beside her. You can see that there are no more glasses that usually adorn his face. He smiled this time, looking freer than usual.
⠀ ⠀⠀Everyone here.
⠀ ⠀⠀You feel very, very happy. You never imagined that death could bring happiness. You can't imagine that you can meet your lovers again. Walk side by side with each other and hold hands. With your friends, even Mimiko and Nanako. They have grown into such beautiful women.
⠀ ⠀⠀and Megumi.
⠀ ⠀⠀He followed you not long after. Walking in front of you while holding the hand of his sister, Tsumiki. He glanced at you for a moment and smiled. You couldn't help but feel happy when you saw him. He finally got the peace and happiness he deserved.
⠀ ⠀⠀Finally, now you are at the end of your journey, which you didn't know would end here. To a place where the land is filled with green grass and flowers. A place of taut winds, night longer than a monk's long prayer. You find each other, you recognize each other, and your hands are still warm from their living. You can see the blood flow back to your lips, your eyes begin to return from that impossible darkness.
⠀ ⠀⠀“Did our love survive?”
⠀ ⠀⠀You looked up to look at your right side, smiling as you looked at Suguru. He smiled and leaned down to kiss your forehead. Then you turned to Satoru who was already looking at you first. He smiled before he leaned in to kiss your cheek—making you smile even wider.
⠀ ⠀⠀“Yes, it does.”
⠀ ⠀⠀And now you're gonna build a small cabin in whatever place is this. Gonna learn to talk again, not of the past, you don't remember well, but about how quiet are the meadows and the strange beautiful birds that you've begun to name, the hush at the nightfall when a calmness seems to slip about thisworld. And something is finally right, you will cry, holding both of your lovers, your friends, your family, and listen to the footfall that you are certain will come.
⠀ ⠀⠀And in the morning, in his off-centre voice, Satoru sings awkwardly, so happily, making Nanami want to kick him so hard he's gonna come back to the world, for a moment to remember where you once were, some place of green and blue, some old.
⠀ ⠀⠀And this time it wasn't just you now.

Can I request headcanon for fukuzawa yukichi from bsd , megumi nobara yuji and geto , gojo from jjk ? ( i love yukichi but if it's make u uncomfortable then you can change it to platonic )
I've written romantic Hc's for Jiraiya, honey, Fukuzawa is no problem.
Tw: Yandere themes, unhealthy mindset, unhealthy relationship, possessive behavior, obsession, delusion, stalking, controlling behavior, manipulation, gaslighting, blackmailing, sadism, isolation, abduction, death
Multiple Yandere Hc's
Fukuzawa Yukichi
Tumblr media
⚪ Fukuzawa as the president of the Armed Detective Agency fulfills all the expectations you'd imagine a man of his position to have. Serious and calm with a great sense of responsibility for his subordinates and the city of Yokohama. He's dedicated to everything he has built to ensure order and peace so that's what makes it all the more confusing and even downright disturbing as he slowly finds himself entrapped with his darling. Yukichi is no delusional fool, he's very lucid of the abyss his emotions slowly unwind into and it leaves him ever so slightly agitated. Obviously not with you as he knows that this isn't your fault but more with his own lack of self-control in this situation, the capability to even feel and think in such dark ways in the first place. Unable to find a solution to his problem, Fukuzawa does what he does best. Maintaining a calm face as he does his best to go about his days as usual.
⚪ The more time passes on, the worse it gets though as he ever so subtly starts showing signs that something isn't as it used to be. When Haruno serves him a cup of tea, he stares into the steaming cup a few seconds too long as his thoughts drift to you. The first time he wasn't even fully aware until Haruno asked him if something is wrong with the tea and he quickly pretends like everything is fine, flustered and embarrassed with what just happened. Zooming out for a few seconds becomes far more common than it should be and the realization that he's long lost control of his feelings weights very heavily on his shoulders. A while after stomaching this knowledge, you find Yukichi approaching you a bit more and engaging in occasional conversations with you, mindful and observing during those interactions. It's a curse for him more than a blessing that he's able to remember smaller details about you so much better, whether you tell him something about you or he notices a small quirk of yours merely by watching you. He doesn't want to admit it but he always ends up hyperfocusing when around you.
⚪ With a freshly developed obsession, Fukuzawa finds himself oftentimes overthinking about a lot of stuff. How often can he approach you without looking suspicious? Should he hold eye contact with you during conversations the entire time or is that creepy? If he asks you to call him by his first name, would that be weird? Underneath his serious persona, this man is so painfully awkward as he has zero experience about courting and even falling normally in love, his first love just happening to be his obsession is truly a bad joke of destiny. He has similar problems with jealousy as he has always struggles figuring out how much jealousy during which interactions would be suspicious. He isn't the type to be insanely jealous, to his own luck, but to say that it doesn't leave a bitter taste on his tongue would be a lie. It's uncomfortable, over time he finds his body going slightly rigid and his stare is heavy and intense which does intimidate your counterparts more than often. Worst of all is that Fukuzawa is never aware of all of this until someone points it out to him.
⚪ The Armed Detective Agency was created because of his want to see justice prevail and ensure that order and peace would always reign over Yokohama. Especially after realizing his obsession he puts more value into his morals as he fears to revert back to his days as an assassin. Days where he looked forward to killing another person. How far his fears are justified is up to debate but it's a big concern of the president nevertheless. He upholds his morals quite well though, the only hiccup in this all would probably be his overprotective behavior which at times just slips out. Whenever he notices that someone makes you uncomfortable he finds himself stepping in, as soon as he notices that something scares you he has the urge to protect you. What Fukuzawa ends up doing is scaring quite a few people due to his serious nature and the heavy feeling of authority that always surrounds him. He knows that there will be people after you though because you're dear to him and he would never hesitate to draw his sword to defend you against such people either.
⚪ A main reason why Yukichi attempts to keep his feelings hidden is precisely because he's aware that the Port Mafia and so many other people might come for you the moment information seek out that he loves you. Obviously every secret will eventually get revealed so the moment that happens, especially if you two are officially a couple at that point, he tightens the security in your life a tad bit more. He doesn't want to be too restricting about it all but he can't help but be worried, especially if you have no gift and are just a normal person. He wants to keep closer tabs on the Port Mafia just in case that they plan anything and if the Agency gets hold of any information regarding public attacks for whatever reason, he's rather demanding when telling you to stay away. This all is tolerable at least but that maintenance of self-restriction gets shattered the moment you get involved in serious danger which fuels Yukichi's paranoia and triggers him for an unknown amount of time to be a lot more controlling. His aura forbids any protest to the point where even you find yourself flinching intimidated if you try to argue with him about the tight boundaries he's made for you.
⚪ Ranpo figures out Fukuzawa's up until that point well-kept secret which includes the darker side to all of that but he's too close to the president to blame him for anything, especially since he realizes how troubled Fukuzawa himself is with the situation. Dazai is probably another member who gets behind the president's emotions too but he's more fascinated than worried. Most other members are just happy for Fukuzawa when news get out about his feelings and if you aren't a couple officially by that point, a lot of them would be up for the idea of helping him here and there. He rejects their help politely, secretly terrified to even think about what some of them would try to do to help. His affection has more of a gentlemanly approach to it, consisting of small and thoughtful presents, acts of service or nice dates. He has a soft spot for you and sometimes Agency members abuse that by pleading for your help against his anger if they've caused some problems. Also, the Agency loves teasing him when you manage to successfully fluster him in front of them to the point where his cheeks are covered with a hue of pink.
Itadori Yuji
Tumblr media
🩷 Yuji is crushing so hard on his darling, it doesn't take much for others to notice that he has a fat crush on you. The boy is such a pure-hearted simp who will literally compliment his darling for anything, even if it's something minor like the shoes you chose to wear on that day or the way you style your hair. He focuses a lot on you and the stuff you're into and is actually fairly well in remembering it so Nobara definitely calls him out for knowing what you favorite food or your favorite colour is whilst forgetting things like when and where he's supposed to meet with her and Megumi on missions to track down curses. Itadori on the other hand is more confused when the people around you don't know certain information about you or don't notice habits or quirks of you which are so painfully obvious to him. He's a bit naive though as you can't exactly call him someone who actually notices that his hyperfixation is not normal. The boy is just a bit dense at times...All the time.
🩷 He's clingy at a level where it is noticable but not quite there to be suffocating or creepy in the eyes of others as Yuji shows some respect for your boundaries. Needless to say though, he would love to spend a lot of time with you whenever both of you are free and whenever he isn't busy with matters involving the jujutsu sorcerers. Even whilst in company of people like Megumi, Nobara or even Gojo and Nanami he often pulls out his phone to see if you're online to chat with you and when all of that doesn't work, he just looks at photos he took of you. You weren't aware in all of them that he took them but Yuji literally can't resist at moments when you just look too gorgeous and adorable. His mood gets for sure affected after a while of not being in contact with you though as he starts sulking around and grumbles significantly more. Considering the world he was thrown into ever since becoming Sukuna's vessel, Yuji has become more protective over his s/o as he could never even bear the thought of them being attacked or even killed by a curse.
🩷 He'd like to think that he isn't obvious when jealous of someone but all his friends can assure him that he's just kidding himself. There's a scowl on his face that gets more prominent as time passes on, he's drumming his fingers against whatever surface is there and is shaking his leg as time ticks by and he gets visibly more impatient as he wonders what in the world could be so engrossing about them. He feels neglected and that is not a nice feeling so if he's had enough he will just squeeze himself in whatever interaction you're currently having with them. It would be only fair to say that Yuji isn't the type to be insanely jealous around others but he just dislikes when he's with you and you ignore him in favor of someone else. He likes your friends, he makes an effort to befriend them too and is cool with all of them as long as no one of them is crushing on you. Something that will definitely trigger him is when he catches someone flirting with his darling because then he's not hesitating to storm over and put himself in between you and the other person with a facial expression that just screams that he's unhappy.
🩷 Itadori has his morals straight when it comes to killing a human. It's morally and ethically just plainly wrong in his eyes as he doesn't see himself as someone who has the right to do so. Killing a human is a last resort in his opinion and so as long as someone hasn't done something truly disgusting to you, he normally doesn't murder anyone for you. He mostly just intimidates and scares people away from you if they've wronged you, although he has probably also gotten into physical fights as the urge to punch someone who has just been a terrible jerk to you isn't always something he can suppress. Your personal simp is physically very strong and athletic though so don't worry, he has won every brawl so far. That makes him for the most part harmless but if someone does manage to genuinely anger him, his hatred stays forever and is very intense.
🩷 One to give you lots of freedom, Itadori isn't someone who would consider ever isolating or restricting you in any way. He prioritizes your happiness a lot and goes above and beyond to make sure you're always in a good mood. Obviously he always tells you about staying away from certain areas when he knows that a curse might be there and it isn't uncommon for him to insist for you to let him accompany you when you have to go somewhere and he has information that something might be lurking around there. Other than this stuff and his clinginess he isn't very controlling but that's mainly because he has never truly experienced what it would feel like if you were to be in serious danger and honestly, he doesn't really want to consider such a terrible thing at all. That is going to make it all the more earth-shattering for Yuji though if it ever happens as that is the moment where he truly feels like he should have done more to protect you. Even if it would have meant invading your privacy and freedom.
🩷 Nobara is at times that close to smacking him with the amount of times Itadori spends gushing about you, she's still happy for him though. Megumi has chosen to just ignore Yuji's rambling, Gojo at times supports him much to the distraught of Nobara. Yuji, once in a relationship, is very dedicated and eager. He constantly goes on little dates with you as soon as he has time and wastes far more money than he should on small presents like snacks or cute little accessories such as key fobs. Text him or call him to inform him that you need something and he's on his way to retrieve it for you, even if he has to walk across the entirety that is Tokyo. That's just how much down bad he is for you. If it wouldn't be for Sukuna who lives inside of him, Yuji would have little to no worries. The curse definitely knows about Yuji's obsession even if the boy denies it when he points it mockingly out. There are times where Sukuna provokes Yuji even as he knows that you're his biggest weakness, threatens to hurt you the next time he gains control. Itadori's surprisingly dark response never fails to amuse and even impress the curse.
Fushiguro Megumi
Tumblr media
💙 Megumi already has enough drama going on in his life. His step-sister is in a coma, his father and step-mother have abandoned him and his sister years ago, the Zenin clan tries to claim him and he has to deal with the antics of Gojo, Yuji and Nobara. In between all of this hassle there is you, a disease to his heart and mind as you quickly become a large part of the young man's daily routine. Astonishing, considering that you never see Megumi that often in person but it doesn't need two to watch you, Megumi all by himself is enough. He doesn't know how he should really approach you with all of those confusing emotions swirling around inside of him so stalking is the best option he can come up with. It might sound creepy but just seeing you is almost therapeutic as his mind just clears for those moments from all the stress and the annoyance he normally feels as he just focuses on you. This leads him at one point to impulsively feel the urge to see you whenever he's confronted with something that gets on his nerves and makes him uncomfortable so Megumi starts becoming slightly co-dependent on you.
💙 He's a good observer and all the stalking really shows results as time passes on as Megumi essentially knows a lot of stuff about you he shouldn't know considering how little you know of him. Partially Megumi is lucid enough to know that his behavior isn't normal after all which is why he never tells anyone about you nor is he dumb enough to let you ever find out. Envisioning the drama that would break out the moment people would find out is enough to give him already a headache and he can't risk under any circumstances to scare you. With that said though, Megumi is at best semi-aware though as his own moral code isn't quite as honorable as Itadori's is and this only gets tainted more in black as his darling rises up to be his biggest priority. He justifies any action he takes with their safety in mind and this makes it surprisingly easy for Megumi to commit certain crimes without feeling even an ounce of guilt, the only exception are your tears if his actions should scare and horrify you. You have to believe him though, it was all done for you.
💙 Megumi is so secretive and aloof, you barely remember seeing his facial expression be something else than neutral so you never consider the possibility of him being potentially jealous. Funny considering that Megumi is one of the more jealous people out there. Are you surprised by that? There are a few factors that play into this and the main reason would be his paranoia out of his insecurities. Megumi is in a tough position, sold to the Zenin clan by his father if it wouldn't have been for Gojo who in return forced him into becoming a jujutsu sorcerer and he only really has partially accepted this because he wants to save Tsumiki. Even if he has no connection to the Zenin Clan anymore, they still won't leave him alone either and he might just be forced into becoming the next head of the clan. You're the only good thing in his life so it shouldn't be a surprise that he is so easily irritated, jealous of even close friends of yours. Jealous and insecure of anyone who can make you smile and who makes you happy as it only aggravates his insecurity and in return fuels his possessiveness which fluctuates strongly depending on his own confidence in the moment.
💙 We've already touched the subject before but let's take a deeper look. Megumi is prone to committing acts of violence more often as he hates bad people and good people who are too merciful. His paranoid overprotective antics only make it worse as he feels a rather overwhelming urge to shield you and protect you from everyone and everything bad in this world. I consider it likely that he's the type to threaten and scare people away even if you plan to forgive them as he most likely ends up seeing you as someone far too forgiving, something he normally hates in people and which he occasionally despises in you too when you cling onto someone who in his mind does not deserve your forgiveness. You're brushed off as too naive as he decides to just secretly take care of the problem as he's paranoid that if you'd find out, you'd try to leave him. Megumi is calculative and careful due to his fear to be abandoned by you and potentially be replaced.
💙 With all this talk of his paranoia, insecurities and his overprotectiveness it's by now probably obvious that there is the underlying threat of being abducted and that can be caused by multiple triggers. Megumi is most likely already the type who likes to be alone with you as it is as other people make him uncomfortable. He just wants you alone for himself without you ignoring him for your friends due to his quietness or all the people around you two whose eyes he can't help but feel like linger on you. That's most of the time only a byproduct of his imagination out of paranoia but Megumi is strong when it comes to overthinking to the point that he feels a tightness in his chest when he notices that someone has been following you two for a while now even when they just happen to walk into the same direction as you and if they stare at you for a second too long, he assumes worse. A relationship with him demands already sacrifices as you spend a lot of time with him alone inside as he's most comfortable there. If there would ever be a day where you get in grave danger, try to leave him or he simply assumes that you plan to replace him with someone better, you're done for.
💙 Megumi isn't all that good after all even if you might think of him as someone calm and composed all the time. Surely he is calculative and observant but let me tell you, on the inside he's most of the time just a possessive and insecure mess who just happens to be exceptionally good in hiding it. The jujutsu sorcerer finds himself often guilt-tripping and manipulating you into staying with him inside and not inviting your friends over when you want to do something with him. He has to allow you to spend time with others from time to time to avoid any arguments but that doesn't mean that he's happy with it. In some cases he's actually so paranoid and insecure that he ends up stalking you. One could argue that this means that he doesn't trust you but Megumi would see it more as him not trusting others with you. Although yes, he has this irrational fear of you finding someone you like more than him. That might be possible for you but he literally only has you so you'd shatter his heart and his last bit of self-restraint with it.
Kugisaki Nobara
Tumblr media
🔨 Nobara is maybe just a bit iffy at the beginning about her crush which descends dangerously into obsessive territory as she can't help but feel disappointed as she normally prides herself on being strong and level-headed. Also, under her brash and confident facade she is very caring and due to that she can't help but think ahead and worry what that might imply for you. Unwilling to slip up and risk her position as a jujutsu sorcerer, she holds her head high and carries on as usual. That works so so on days as you always return onto her mind and it is angering as much as it is weirdly enjoyable. Nobara's confidence makes her sort of possessive over her darling as well as sort of semi-delusional. She isn't as insecure as Megumi is so she doesn't shy away from approaching you and befriending you, confident that she can charm her darling and be a good lover and girlfriend for them so that definitely makes her a tad bit more arrogant at times around others who might have a crush on you too.
🔨 The woman is rarely actively manipulating her darling as she wants to stay true to herself and refuses to rely on lies unless it's the only option left. Obviously she keeps curses and the world of jujutsu sorcerers a secret from you if you're just a normal citizen in Tokyo but otherwise she never lies to you and her outspoken and brash personality plays a huge part in that. She doesn't tolerate any bullshit from you though even if she loves you dearly so there is an air of strictness to her. She isn't a hard simp as Yuji is nor is she as paranoid as Megumi, she is a stable middle who reprimands you when you've done something wrong and does the same if someone has treated you the wrong way. Nobara isn't overly strict of course but in cases she is, she ususally expects you to listen as she is acting that way in particular when it concerns your own health and in most cases she won't accept any excuses from you.
🔨 She is reasonable and would never be irrationally jealous or at least she pretends she isn't, even when she is. She knows all of your friends and she's on good terms with all of them so she doesn't think that there is any need to be jealous of one of them. Nobara refuses to be influenced by her jealousy and start acting ridiculous, those are your friends who you've known longer than her in most cases after all. If someone tries to flirt with you though or thinks that they have a chance, she can't help but curl her lips in displeasure and disbelief as she scoffes. Now, now, even if you two aren't officially together at time she surely won't let some wannabe ogle at you and think that you're easy. Her comments are passive-aggressive as she ends up getting into the one or other argument at times. She's quite unshakable though as most people underestimate her confidence and always end up giving up. She denies your teasing words about her being jealous though, sometimes even scolds you for allowing them to continue in the first place because if you would have, she wouldn't have needed to interfere.
🔨 Nobara finds herself once again more in the middle between between Megumi and Yuji. She isn't as merciful as Yuji nor is she as overly paranoid as Megumi is. Don't get her wrong now, this girl is fiercely protective over you and as soon as she realizes that someone makes you uncomfortable or scares you, she tells them off angrily, even if they didn't do it on purpose. If someone does scare you on purpose or makes you intentially uncomfortable, she's all the more furious. She doesn't hesitate to execute any curses that interfere with your life, it's literally her job to kill as a jujutsu sorcerer so she came in prepared. Humans are a different calibre though so she obviously doesn't go around exorcising them nor can she use in most cases her Cursed Energy or her tools unless they also happen to be sorcerers. But she never takes bullshit from anyone so as soon as someone harms you somehow or uses you, she comes in to your rescue, ready to unload. You don't want to mess with her even if she doesn't use her weapons as Nobara has a temper and won't quit until the person has either admitted their wrongdoings and made it up or she has driven them away from you.
🔨 She has despised her childhood where she was stuck in the countryside all the time and she has set herself some boundaries within her obsession to have limits and abduction is certainly one of them. She hates the idea of restricting you and imprisoning you as she'd see it as a loss to herself by letting her own feelings influence her. Nobara is level-headed so chances of an abduction are fairly low as she works, admittedly, very hard behind the scenes to not let anyone or anything harm you. She's the tiniest bit controlling in the sense that she wants to know about the people beside herself that you have in your life to know who she has to lecture if something happens and she also expects you to tell her if you're in troubles or someone gives you a hard time. I can't really see an abduction or restrictions within your personal life happening unless a curse attacks you and or you're seriously injured in which case Nobara insists on spending more time guarding and protecting you and also wants you to stick to her advice she gives you no matter what, especially if you're still recovering.
🔨 She wouldn't want to isolate you for the fact alone that she loves going out with you, exploring the city and enjoying her new life. If you've lived here your entire life, she definitely wants you to show her around and take her to your favorite shops and restaurants. She isn't one to spoil but she definitely enjoys taking her darling out when she goes shopping and wants your opinion on certain outfits that catch her eye. If she sees something that she thinks would look good on you, she always insists for you to try it on and she's very persistent so she wins you over most of the time. Fashion is important for her so I can't help but feel like she'd like to doll you up from time to time and let her choose your outfit. Couple outfits will be a thing between the two of you, you can not convince me otherwise. She isn't one to actively gush over her darling all the time but if they have a hobby in which they excel or they do something of which she's proud about, she brags about it to her friends such as Yuji.
Gojo Satoru
Tumblr media
🩵 Gojo is someone who enters your life without any warning and refuses to leave you alone forever after. You may do your best to avoid him or tell him as friendly as possible that you'd like him to leave you alone for a bit but nothing works as he chooses serenely to let everything fly over his head. Sweetie, he's not leaving you. He's here to stay whether you want him to or not, perhaps you just need a bit of time to get to know him better. Something you should know is that better than him isn't possible so he blatantly looks down on whoever you might show a prefence to or who might have any intentions to court you. This white-haired annoyance is one clingy man with no intention to give you any room to breathe. Admittedly, a part of him sometimes just likes annoying you and he's a master in it but for the most part Gojo has just an unquenchable desire to be with you as you manage to make him aware of something he didn't want to acknowledge for years now. His undeniable loneliness that comes with being the strongest, the still lingering diappointment of Riko's death and the searing scars left forever by Geto's betrayal. Never again. He'll never let someone else leave him or die on him again.
🩵 Despite his obvious playfullness, Satoru is very possessive over his darling and combined with his unbearable clinginess, that makes for one smothering presence. He's shameless and ruthless when it comes to being the most important person in your life and that transcends far beyond your crushes or love rivals. Your friends, acquaintances and even your own family get entangled into this mess and whilst he wouldn't actively hurt them, as long as they treat you well and don't try to tell you to stay away from him, he'd still expect you to choose him without any moment's hesitance over them because he'd do the same. Beyond his nonchalant and arrogant facade, Gojo is more paranoid and protective than he'd ever show to anyone besides maybe you. He's the strongest sorcerer for sure but the paranoia that something might be wrong and the additional stress his clan gives him as they're clearly unhappy with his choice of partner wear him down. He isn't invincible after all.
🩵 I'd label him as more possessive than jealous as his confidence is through the roof and he judges people mostly only based on their strength alone so with him being the strongest sorcerer in the world, he looks down on most people in your life. Gojo is the type who scares people out of your life without much remorse. One glare is often enough to make someone turn around and avoid you as long as the tale male is with you which is unfortunately more often than you're comfortable with. Turning your attention away from him and ignoring him for someone else never goes down well as he's clearly displeased when you choose to do so and he chooses to be an asshole in return, condescending and talking down to whoever it is you're conversing with at the moment and with his height and his heavy glare he never fails to scare them away. Gojo causes you a lot of problems with his overflowing affection as at one point everyone believes him to be your boyfriend and he does nothing but worsen it more and more.
🩵 I've already said it, I'll say it again. Gojo has little to no remorse for scaring, hurting or even murdering people for you. He barely tolerates anyone besides himself in your life and there is little space left for family and friends with him but they at least get the minimum of respect from him. Everyone else is a free game and then it's completely up to Satoru's own mood what he does with them. He is sadistic so he finds it amusing seeing someone cower in fear the moment he confronts them because they tried to interfere with the relationship. Most people once mess up and then never show their face in front of you again out of sheer fear of Gojo and it leaves you alone and isolated most time as he doesn't even spare friends and family from it if they do something that they shouldn't have done in his eyes. Nothing will help someone though if they've harmed his darling though and their death will be nothing short of excruciating, he literally doesn't care if it's a curse, a human, a sorcerer, executive or someone else. He won't let anyone ever touch a strand of your hair in the wrong way, he promises.
🩵 An abduction with Gojo is not avoidable and it'll happen soon, sweetheart. Satoru is maybe just a bit crazy about the aspect of controlling and monitoring you so he can know where you are the entire time and that is partially influenced by his protective side. He initially tries to talk you into moving in with him and tries to make it sound as appealing as possible. You can design the rooms however you like, you would have access to all of his seemingly limitless bank accounts and you'd never have to work again. It'd be just the two of you. It might sound tempting at first but there are also some hidden implications there. Because you wouldn't be able to leave the house without his permission and he'd install a security system which would in emergency situations shut all windows and doors, allowing pretty much only him to enter and leave. It sounds good in his mind and he'd be very happy if you'd willingly follow him in what is essentially a luxurious prison but your consens isn't needed. Don't blame and cuss at him though, he did give you a chance to choose the better option.
🩵 Gojo never listens to you when it involves you telling him to respect your privacy or when you beg and plead him to let you go as he doesn't take you seriously. You can play hard to get if you want to, you can try to despise him as much as you want but that only mean isolation and even less space for you as he forcefully inserts himself in your daily routine as much as he wants to. You're able to get away with a lot of things simply because Gojo doesn't deem you as any threat to him but that doesn't mean that you can be a brat all you want. Perhaps a reminder of what he's capable off should help you to control your temper a bit better. He's just saying, he could easily break your legs or ruin friends and family of yours. Why don't you just give in? The future would be bright and filled with everything you'd want as the man would ensure to spoil you rotten and since he's good in almost everything he tries, he can easily pick up anything for the sole purpose of impressing you. Don't abuse his trust though because around you Gojo actually feels secure enough to be vulnerable which takes a lot for him to do. So if you'd ever try to escape him, you'd see what lies beyond that playful grin of his.
Geto Suguru
Tumblr media
🗻 You get to know him yet really don't under the disguise of a Buddhist priest you often find yourself visiting his temple after the advice of a friend as recently you have experienced weird dreams and feel constantly tired and heavy. A curse clinging to you yet you don't know that and are simply another monkey who collects curses for him. That is all you are, a monkey who Geto so desperately wants to murder yet something about you is different, something that Suguru can't quite pinpoint but it's enough for you to stay permanently on his mind, much to his disdain. His hatred for all non-sorcerers makes Geto quite dangerous as his sworn hatred constantly clashes with his ever-growing affection which he locks away deep inside of himself. Newfound hatred specifically pointed against you has led him multiple times close to allowing curses to kill you yet none of them do so in the end as if sensing that the Curse User himself isn't able to do so, his own will the thing that ultimately always stops them and with that the manifestation of his weakness, his soft spot. A human.
🗻 His love is twisted as the knowledge that he feels so strongly about a non-sorcerer throws him into a new abyss of his mind and it reveals a sadistic, possessive and controlling side of himself. He uses his curses to haunt you and wear you down to force you into visiting him far often since his presence helps you as he puts on his most charming fake persona to lure you into a sense of security. Some of the more intelligent curses are used to spy on you and deliver information whilst Suguru is busy conjuring up his plan to murder every other non-sorcerer. He's very manipulative as he slowly gets into your head as his advice of what you should do help you as he orders the curses to leave you if you do as he tells you and it foolishly leads you into trusting him as you open up to him about a lot of things. You're blinded by his gentle smile and charming attitude, almost too trusting but that's alright. Suguru gradually comes to term with his feelings as he starts changing his perspective. Animals have an order about who is better than others and if the rest of non-sorcerers is a bunch of crude monkeys, he likes to see you as a fine and rare feline, as something more sophisticated and elegant.
🗻 Jealousy would require for him to feel threatened or insecure by someone and with his condescending look on non-sorcerers, that never happens. Now, obviously you don't know anything about sorcerers and curses, still blissfully naive about the true danger the man in front of you really is but Suguru shows lenience. You might be slightly above monkeys but ultimately you're still underneath sorcerers so he can't expect you to know any better just yet. If there is something going on in your life though such as someone courting you, you crushing on someone or, heaven forbid, you actually getting into a relationship with someone, he always finds out. His anger shortly flares up when he's informed about it but the next time you see him, he has reassumed that gentle smile that always calms you down. Non-sorcerers shouldn't even be able to touch you and leave their stench on you, he definitely needs you to drop anyone who would even think of you in that way. You're better than that, he'll help you remove the bad influence scum has on you. Normally you always trust him with such matters so if he ever finds out that you've kept something like that a secret from him, he views it as an act of disobedience.
🗻 Suguru's goal is it to isolate you from everyone, including your own friends and family as all of them are disgusting, soon to be dead anyways. He can easily discard people around him if they are non-sorcerers or should stand in his way and even if it is irritating to see you struggle to do the same, he tries to be reasonable. You don't know any better after all, you were born into their world and are brainwashed but that's alright. Because he will fix everything for you. Perhaps the scariest part of all is that Geto truly believes to do you a favor as you haven't seen how ugly the weak are and what they do to cling onto the delusion that they aren't. Everyone you cherish holds no worth to him besides maybe bait to manipulate and blackmail you once you've taken your rose-tinted glasses off and realize what he really is capable of. Their worth lasts for him only that long though before he decides to cut all of your ties with them completely, removing everyone from your life and leaving you all alone. Don't waste any time crying over them as they aren't worth it. They aren't even worth remembering, he can promise you that soon you'll stop caring about them altogether.
🗻 An abduction is a guarantee and merely bears the question of when it will happen. Suguru has to make some preparations for that day though as he knows that he needs to inform his fellow curse users and the curses that aren't aware of it yet about his new addition soon. It goes against anything he stands for and fights for and Suguru fully understands that but ultimately he manages to convince them as he emphasizes that you are in no way an equal, words he truthfully means. You're a possession he plans to keep and whilst he shall cherish and treasure you, you'll also have to learn how to submit and obey as soon as you're taken in. Everything comes crashing down onto you on the day where you enter the temple but never leave again as Geto finally pulls the rug out from under you and reveals who he truly is. A smile that once comforted you now terrifies you as freedom and privacy are rights taken away from you unless you follow his rules and obey. You wouldn't want to disappoint him and earn yourself a punishment after all, would you?
🗻 Your life is never the same afterwards as it is, in fact, not your own anymore. It all lays now in Suguru's hands who is the one orchestrating your whole life. You have a strict set of rules that you always have to follow and for most things that aren't included in your schedule, you need to ask for permission from him and silently accept if he denies you your request. You're always watched when he isn't at home, either by other curse users or by curses. The latter is especially terrifying as he never informs you fully in the beginning of the world of sorcerers fully simply to test you and let you bask in the illusion of having a chance to escape when in reality you don't. Geto always finds you and hands out a punishment for your failed attempt, keeps the secret up for a while until he decides to tell you the whole truth, slightly disappointed with how often you might have tried to run away at that point and by this point, the knowledge that you were always watched and never had a chance to begin with cracks something inside of you and the new world you find yourself in terrifies you.

MEGUMI WILL LIVE
Sukuna reverting to his Heian era form sent the fandom into a panic because everyone assumed that Sukuna fully reverting back meant Megumi is now permanently dead. It doesn't. I understand how the fans would be worried because of how unceremoniously Gojo was just offed, but remember even Gojo got a long fight beforehand only the finishing blow was offscreened. He's still in Megumi's body though, all he did was change the shape of Megumi's body to look like his heian era self. It's the same way that Choso transfigured his host body when he was inserted inside of it, or other members of the culling games like Hajime did. The original owner of the body is still alive, because if the owner dies then Sukuna would still die along with him.
However, not only is Megumi not dead currently he's not going to die and the rest of this post will be explaining why.
Angel explains in chapter 199, that the reincarnated players are cursed objects swallowed by bodies who then use the bodies as vessels, reshaping them and then suppressing the body's original owner. It's the same for Megumi, Megumi at the finger and became a vessel for Sukuna, but instead of transforming all the way Sukuna stopped the transformation halfway through - until now. However, even in that case Megumi's soul is still there just suppressed.
Angel: My objective is to wipe out all players who've recinarnated. Most of them do it by suppressing the vessel's original owner... whether internally or subconsciously. And that's against God's laws... so it's wrong. Megumi: God? Angel: That's just a name I give to my beliefs. Pay it no mind. Angel: So I decided to live in symbiosis with Hana. Megumi: Can your technique revert possessed players to their original state? Angel: It's not impossible, but it's extremely likely they will die... because the cursed object and body fuse. SO it's difficult to strip away one. Yuji: That's why Sukuna dies if I die.
Sukuna hasn't completely killed Megumi, he's just suppressed the host consciousness, that was essentially the entire purpose of both the bath, and then killing Tsumiki immediately afterwards to bury Megumi so deep he won't fight back.
Tumblr media
However, as I said that's just the technical explanation. I'm going to make a thematic argument about why if only one character of the four main characters survives until the end of the manga like Gege predicted, it will be Megumi. Before I begin though this is just a theory, I'm not saying Yuji or Nobara deserves to die so if you're a fan of them please be chill. Megumi will live and here's why...
Megumi's character arc is about birth rather than death. Megumi is a child, the end goal of his character death is not for him to die and be at peace with his death like Gojo and in my prediction Yuji, but rather for him to grow from childhood into adulthood. Everything in his character revolves around this concept, even his name.
Tumblr media
Megumi, named blessing by his father. A child who is blessed in many ways, born with a technique that would have given Toji acceptance in the Zen'in if he had it, born a prodigy that got the attention of Gojo Satoru, and not blessed in other ways, no father, no mother, no adult in his life to guide him and forced to become a sorcerer or starve from an early age. However, more than that the name represents Toji's desire for Megumi to have a better life than he did.
Toji: Take care of Megumi, okay? That place is ueslss for someone like me, but for him...for someone with potential...it'll be a little better. Toji: I don't care... I don't care anymore. Toji: Hey, what's your name? Megumi: Fushiguro. Toji: Not Zen'in, huh? Toji: Good for you.
I have said before that Jujutsu Kaisen is a tragedy, but tragedies aren't really hopeless stories where everyone dies and nothing good ever happens. Even while Gojo's death is tragic, his dying dream is bittersweet as he reflects on the fact he made great friends in life and protected a lot of people. Which is why I don't think Megumi's name is supposed to be ironic, he was named blessing because he's supposed to be where the chain of abuse that started with the Zen'in -> Toji and carried on -> Megumi finally ends by breaking that cycle.
Megumi is a child, episode 5 of Juju Stroll "had Megumi describe Panda's smell as "ohisama" (お日様) which is a super childish way of saying "sunshine". It kind of literally translates to Mr. Sun, and it's such a cutesy way of talking that the girls get flustered. It's also mentioned in one of the audio dramas where they go out to eat beefsteak that Megumi only wants to eat the sauce and Yuuji reacts by basically saying "Are you a kid??" He also dislikes red peppers."
These childish affectations are there to show us Megumi is not what he appears. That's also basically the twist with his personality too, because he has an incredibly serious personality, and is considered a jujutsu prodigy most people mistake him for being mature for his age when he's really just repressing his emotions all the time.
Fushiguro had intended to just pay and leave but with his serious personality, his idea of leaving was dismissed by Itadori’s reasoning. However, his eyes that were as deep as the night that peeped out from the bottom of a deep ditch became even more lifeless. Fushiguro tried once more to switch off his self-awareness. Numbness was the safety feature of life. If he did not think of a way to protect his spirit, it would not be strange if a curse was born.
Megumi is putting on airs of being an adult, but I'd argue he's the most childish of the main three, because at least Nobara and Yuji both had parental figures and normal childhoods until high school. Megumi was handpicked to be a sorcerer at age six and received no adult guidance outside of that, just training to be a sorcerer. Megumi is a child forced into sorcery at a young age in order to pay his bills and survive, in the manga where the central goal of one of the main characters is that children should be able to live out their youths. If Megumi dies before he's even able to grow up, that goal will be unaccomplished.
Ijichi: Then Itdori will have to go into hiding for good. Gojo: Nah, I'll have him ready in time for the goodwill event. Shoko: Why? Goo: Easy. I refuse to keep this kid from living the best years of his life. Not just him, but everyone.
Of course that argument works for Yuji and Nobara as well. They're also children who I am predicting will die tragically early, wouldn't that go against the themes of the manga too? My argument is this, we've already seen kids die young, Mai Zen'in, Kokichi Muta, Junpei Yoshino, because Jujutsu Kaisen is a tragedy. However, there will be a few characters who survive into adulthood and live to see a better world where losses like the above characters don't happen anymore. Those characters however, are characters where their character arcs revolve around them living.
Yuji's character arc is a contemplation of death and searching for a proper death (I'll talk more on the differences later) Nobara's is more tricky without talking about the quality of the writing, but let's say Nobara's death shows that even a "main character" isn't exempt for death. Which is appropriate as Nobara thinks of herself as the main character of a story. Megumi's character arc however is specifically about a cycle of abuse that started with his father, and continued to him. Unlike Nobara and Yuji who were outsiders who made the choice one way or another (traveling to Tokyo, or swallowing the finger) to enter into the world of sorcery, Megumi was born into this situation and his choice was become a sorcerer when he was a teenager or starve. Gojo had the chance to break the cycle of abuse with Megumi and he didn't, because he saw another potential strong sorcerer.
Toji: But then the unexpected happened 11 years ago, when Toji Zen'in appeared. he was physically gifted through heavenly restriction and on top of that he was an anomaly who had escaped from cursed energy. As a human being who had escaped fate through the power of restriction... he destroyed our destinies.
Jujutsu Kaisen is a story about cycles, and not only is the narrative goal set by Gojo to 'reset this crappy Jujutsu World" so that the cycle of abuse adults heap on children will be broken by the end of the story, but Toji himself is referred to as the breaker of chains and Megumi is Toji's son. Megumi, who he named blessing. The inciting incident of the story happened, because the Zen'in abused Toji to the point he became a remorseless murderer and killed Riko in front of Geto's eyes, starting the domino effect that led to today's plot. Megumi is at the center of that, he is in a way the central victim of the story in a way Yuji is not because even Yuji got the choice to eat the finger or not. Eating the finger, and being executed to destroy Sukuna are burdens Yuji willingly took on whereas Megumi was possessed forcibly by Sukuna creating the current situation. Yuji also wanted to be a sorcerer and wanted to get stronger as one when sitting in his room and waiting to have the fingers delivered to him was a possible option, whereas for Megumi the choice was to be a sorcerer or starve.
Jujutsu Society will not have changed from Toji's generation, or even Gojo's generation if Megumi the child does not survive to adulthood like his father.
Megumi is someone with very little agency or sense of control over his own life, just like a child too he is at every turn practically helpless to the forces of the adults in his life. Of course he's a character who makes choices, but he's still making those choices in the framework of a world of adults who have authority over him. Megumi doesn't get to retire at being a sorcerer or he'll starve, so the choice he makes is "I'll selectively choose who I save as a sorcerer" which is a comrpomise he makes.
He doesn't have a choice but to be a sorcerer, so he chooses to be a sorcerer for selfish reasons. He's also someone with little care for the institution of sorcery. Even his choice to be a sorcerer with the Zen'in, or to be a sorcerer with Gojo is made on the axis of "What will give Tsumiki a better life?" The same with his choice to save Yuji from execution, he doesn't care what is right or wrong by sorcerer society standards, just that he personally wishes to see Yuji saved. Afterwards when Yuji expresses remorse for Sukuna's mass murder in Shibuya, Megumi is pretty unbothered by the moral ramifications of it.
"We aren't heroes fighting for justice. No one can ever truly judge us, so we must continually prove the worth of our existence. and we don't have the luxury of thinking of ourselves. We've just got to save people. I believe that was the original principle behind your actions. So start by saving me!"
Those words aren't just foreshadowing for what Yuji's final task in the manga is (Hint hint, Yuji now needs to save Megumi from Sukuna's possession otherwise Sukuna will continue to rampage in his body).
It's also illustrative of Megumi's character, he's not someone who makes moral judgements at all, not really. He has no concept of moraity, justice, because those are adult ideas and he is a child trying to survive in the world of adults with what limited power he has. Megumi does make choices as I said he chooses to forgive Yuji for mass slaughter in Shibuya, during the Culling games he chooses to make saving Tsumiki a priority above everything else even innocent people inside the games (something only Yuta is shown actually doing) which is consistent with the choices Megumi has always made. Megumi has no choice to be a sorcerer, so he chooses to use his power selfishly to protect one or two loved ones (and his comrades sometimes) instead of using them for altruistic reasons like Yuji or utilitarian reasons like Gojo.
Megumi doesn't have morals, because he's not in a stage of development where he can actually think and develop morals. This is a thing in psychology, Jean Piaget was the first psychologist to study ways in which children processed the world different from adults. He identified stages of moral development believeing it correlated with stages of cognitive deveolpment (congition = understanding) which Kohlberg then defined into roughly six stages of development.
Stage 1. Obedience and Punishment. Child is good to avoid being punishment. Stage 2. Individualism and Exchange: At this stage, children recognize that there is no just one right view handed down by the authorities, different individuals have different viewpoints. Stage 3. Good Interpersonal Relationships The child / individual is good to be see as being a good person by others. THerefore, answers relate to the approval of others. Stage 4. Law and Order Morality. The child becomes aware of wider rules of society, so judgments concern obeying rules to uphold the law and avoid guilt. Stage 5. Social Contract and Individual Rights. The child becomes aware that laws exist for good, there are times they work against interest of individuals. Stage 6. Universal Principles. Pepople at this stage have developed their own set of moral guidelines they apply to everyone.
Megumi is trapped at Stage 3, his only concern is how his actions will affect his interprersonal relationships with others. Everything he does is in regards to maintaing those interpersonal relationships, and he casually just disregards outside morality all the time. Even Kurusu who bonded with Angel and entered the culling games because of one kind deed Megumi did for her in the past shares this same reasoning, she does good deeds because she wants to be approved of by the person she likes.
Hana: Fate is all. I believed we would someday meet again. So little by little, in hopes of being worthy to stand by your side... I help people.
Megumi's morality is-selfcentered yes, but he hasn't developed into a mature enough person to be able to think of the points of view of other people. Even when Megumi does attempt to assert some control in the world an adult appears and steals control from him, literally in fact when we learn that his attempts to save Tsumiki were pointless to begin with, because Tsumiki is possessed by Yorozu. Shortly after this revelation Megumi permanently loses control, because his bodily autonomy and basic ability to make choices is stolen from him by an adult. Megumi's life is defined by how little control he has in it, he says it in what is his first inner monologue.
Megumi: The only thing that is fair about life is how unfair it is to everyone. She was the kindest person, there was no reason to think otherwise, she was someone who deserved to be happy, but Tsumiki was cursed. My father who didn't even know my gender gave me the name Megumi. He's still alive somewhere. Karma doesn't happen on its own. Criminals are disciplined under the law. Jujutsu sorcerers are only a cog in this retribution. If only more good people could receive fairness. I'll save people whether or not it's fair!
That entire monologue but especially the first sentence is true to Megumi and his life so far, the only thing fair about life is how unfair it is to everyone. Everything is chaos, especially the world of adults, something Megumi has not been sheltered from at all. Megumi's name was blessing, but his father who was responsible for taking care of him just ran off somewhere else and left him to the wolves.
You could even draw some kind of sick parallel to the king of curses himself, who refers to himself as an unwanted child. I don't know if we're going to get a sob story for Sukuna, but if the greatest curse in history was created because he was thrown to the wolves as a child, then that says a lot about sorcerer society. Megumi is just more aware of the dog-eat-dog nature of Jujutsu Society then the rest of the characters, it's why he's constantly trying to tell Yuji that sorcerers arent' heroes. It reminds me of two quotes from Buffy the Vamprie Slayer from Faith, another homeless teen exposed to the world's violence at a really young age with no adults to sheperd her.
Joyce Summers: You don't know the first thing about Buffy... or m Faith:  Don't I? I know what it's like. You think you matter. You think you're a part of something, and you get dumped. It's like the whole world is moving, but you're stuck. Like those animals in the tar pits. It's like you just keep sinking a little deeper every day, and nobody even sees! [...] Buffy: I gave you every chance. I tried so hard to help you, and you spat on me. My life was just something for you to play with. Angel - Riley- anything that you could take from me you took. I've lost battles before - but nobody else has ever made me a victim. Faith: And you can't stand that. You're all about control. You have no idea what it's like on the other side! Where nothing's in control, nothing makes sense! There is just pain and hate and nothing you do means anything. You can't even..."
Megumi's life is defined by this learned helplessness, he's not someone who at seventeen believed he had the complete freedom to do whatever he wanted like Gojo, he's trapped in the tar pits sinking a little deeper every day. There's a reason his Jujutsu Technique is shadows, which turn into muddy water when he uses his domain expansion, and why Sukuna bathed in black water to sink Megumi down to the bottom of his consciousness so he'd stop fighting back.
Megumi's someone with power, but with no real agency in how he uses it, as someone who avoids making choices, and asserting himself over ad over again. Unlike Sukuna and Gojo characters with overwhelming senses of self who seem to have complete freedom to choose, Megumi entirely lacks a sense of self, and therefore doesn't make his own choices.
Gojo: You sacrificed yourself so that Nobara could advance. Well, good for you. But people like Yuji and I... are always swinging for the fences. I'm not saying a sacrifice bunt is bad. Baseball si a team sport in which each member is expected to play their role. However, being a Jujtusu Sorcerer is an individual sport. Megumi: But isn't coordinating with other sorcerers important? Gojo: Yes, but no matter how many allies you have around you... you'll always die alone. Right now, you can only judge and match those around you instead of picturing a stronger future you. Maybe it's because of that ace in the sleeve you think in a worst case scenario if you were to at least sacrifice yourself all would end well. Keep that up and you can forget about becoming as strong as me, you won't even match up to Nanami. To die and then win, and dying victoriously are two completely different things, Megumi. Give it your all. It's okay to be selfish!
Megumi's narrative challenge goes beyond learning that it's okay to be selfish sometimes though, he's tasked with learning to cultivate a sense of self where he has none previously. You se Megumi is the most Jungian of Jung characters in the Jung manga, his power is literally the treasures he keeps hidden in his shadow. He's someone who continually fails to live up to his potential. He has no looked in his shadow at all whatsoever and therefore he's completly stunted in his development. His goal is to develop the ten shadows figuratively, but literally it's too cultivate a sense of self and reach adulthood as a fully grown individual and not the helpless child he is currently. He even is the first ten shadows user to develop a domain expansion, a domain expansion is a sorcerer using their innate domain (personal inner world) onto the outer world.
Tumblr media
Megumi's endpoint is individuation (the process through which a person achieves a sense of individuality separate from the idenities of others and begins to consciously exist as a human in the world.)
As Jung Stated:
The aim of individuation is nothing less than to divest the self of the false wrappings of the persona, on the one hand and the suggestive power of primordial images on the other.
Jung's two theories on selfhood was divided between persona (what we are for other people) and the shadow (what we suppress about ourselves subconscious images we are controlled by). Here we have Megumi, someone who puts on the persona of being a mature, serious individual to survive in the world of adults, and also has the ten shadows which are representative of the suppressed undercurrents of violence but also his self-sabotage that Gojo identifies, suppressed emotions he is unconsciously controlled by. Both of these identities are Megumi and neither of them are.
Megumi's not a fully realized individual because he doesn't have a balanced sense of self at all, or even any sense of self because his two sides are all out of whack. In Jungian terminology the shadow is made up of primordial images shared by all of society, and what is more primordial then being literally possessed by a curse that's a character based off of a folk legend of ryomen sukuna in the real world.
Integration of the shadow is necessary for the process of individuation, Jung even names a confrontation with the shadow as a prerequisite for moral growth.
“The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge.”
Once again connecting back to Kohlberg's terms of moral development loosely, children see morals in terms of just outside consequences being applied to them. A child thinks "I can't steal this cookie because the adult who is the enforcer of morals told me it's wrong and will punish me." The final step of moral development is to create your own morals which apply to the world around you. Jung calls the shadow a moral problem because you have to become conscious that you yourself are capable of being wrong in order to properly render judgement on yourself. You can't judge yourself, or reflect on yourself, if you don't look at yourself properly, or ignore half of what you are because you don't want to see the bad in you.
The encoutner with theshadow and the confrontation with the beast is the first step of individuation, and what is Ryomen Sukuna if not one big shadow representing all the evils and selfishness of mankind. A cruel reflection of both Megumi, but also Gojo and Toji. Megumi, Sukuna says, this is how Gojo and Toji lived. They lived fighting from others and simply taking what they wanted, and no one could take from them.
It's extra ironic that Megumi is a blessing, and Sukuna refers to himself as an unwanted child.
Translation by @kaibutsushidousha
Tumblr media
Sukuna is clearly a result of climbing to the top of the food chain after being thrown to the wolves, something which Megumi could become if he learned to wield his power that way and something arguably Gojo tried to push him towards (at least in the sense that Gojo wants to craft Megumi into a successor, into another Gojo). Megumi isn't nearly on Sukuna's level, but Megumi could become Sukuna, someone who only ever wields their power for themselves and only cares about being the strongest. That kind of person would never experience loss and discomfort the way Megumi did when he helplessly watched Tsumiki die. Sukuna is funcitoning as a beast for Megumi to compare himself to, even making Megumi himself feel guilty by getting Tsumiki's blood on his hands via killing her with his technique.
Kenjaku: What's the point of soaking in it? Ura Ume: To be near evil, and to submerge Megumi Fushiguro's soul.
Megumi has to confront Sukuna to learn that he is not like Sukuna. The other option is remaining helpless inside of Sukuna and just letting Sukuna completely have control. Regaining control of his body, and also discovering himself are essentially the same thing in this situation. Jung says that people who are unaware of their shadow, will be controlled by it, or at lest they won't realize that they're the ones messing up when things go wrong and will always attribute it to outside situations like fate instead of realizing they do have control and choices to make.
“The psychological rule says that when an inner situation is not made conscious, it happens outside as fate. That is to say, when the individual remains undivided and does not become conscious of his inner opposite, the world must perforce act out the conflict and be torn into opposing halves.” (Carl Jung)
To briefly reference another manga.
Tumblr media
For Megumi regaining control over his body and assserting himself would also mean accepting that he's the one making choices here, he's the one to blame when things go wrong, and he's responsible. I argued over and over again that Megumi is effectively helpless yes, but that's because he's symbolically a child in order to grow into an adult he would have to learn to take responsibility for his actions like an adult would.
Such a process would also involve having to admit to some degree culpability and fault to his own actions. To become a person living in the world and therefore capable of making mistakes, rather than a dead dinosaur sinking in the tar pits.
“If you imagine someone who is brave enough to withdraw all his projections, then you get an individual who is conscious of a pretty thick shadow. Such a man has saddled himself with new problems and conflicts. He has become a serious problem to himself, as he is now unable to say that they do this or that, they are wrong, and they must be fought against… Such a man knows that whatever is wrong in the world is in himself, and if he only learns to deal with his own shadow he has done something real for the world. He has succeeded in shouldering at least an infinitesimal part of the gigantic, unsolved social problems of our day.” — Carl Jung, Psychology and Religion (1938)
Megumi is obviously not even remotely close to there, not only is he blinded by shadows, but he's been referred to as a fool before this.
Tumblr media
Let fate toy with you, before you die like a fool a prophecy which has been hanging over Megumi's head since the Reggie fight. You could take this as foreshadowing for Megumi's death, but honestly that's only if you're interpreting it in the most literal way possible.
Number one, what is fate in Jujutsu Kaisen?
Characters talk about it, but there's no canonical concept of fate. When Megumi asks Angel what God is, Angel says that you can just refer to God as a set of beliefs they have. In a Jungian reading, Fate is just what we attribute to things we think are out of our control but really aren't. It's not fate toying with Megumi, it's outside factors, and Megumi's own perceived lack of agency in his decision making.
Number two, what is death in Jujutsu Kaisen?
Remember this is the most Jung of the Jung manga, and when I hear die like a fool I think Tarot.
The Fool's Journey is a metaphor for the journey through life. Each major arcana card stands for a stage on that journey - an experience that a person must incorporate to realize his wholeness.
In Tarot a set of 22 major arcana are used as stages in a metaphorical journey where an individual starts out as a newborn, a nobody, and becomes a fully realized individual through a series of stages and trials that prompt self reflection. Megumi would be in this manga the archetypical fool on the fool's journey, because as I said of the four main characters he's the one with the least sense of self and the most helpless. Megumi does not make choices, Megumi is pulled along by the nose.
We begin with the Fool (0), a card of beginnings. The Fool stands for each of us as we begin our journey of life. He is a fool because only a simple soul has the innocent faith to undertake such a journey with all its hazards and pain. At the start of his trip, the Fool is a newborn - fresh, open and spontaneous. The figure on Card 0 has his arms flung wide, and his head held high. He is ready to embrace whatever comes his way, but he is also oblivious to the cliff edge he is about to cross. The Fool is unaware of the hardships he will face as he ventures out to learn the lessons of the world. The Fool stands somewhat outside the rest of the major arcana. Zero is an unusual number. It rests in the exact middle of the number system - poised between the positive and negative. At birth, the Fool is set in the middle of his own individual universe. He is strangely empty (as is zero), but imbued with a desire to go forth and learn. This undertaking would seem to be folly, but is it?
The fool is in the center of his own individual universe, and is also strangely empty, a zero. A person who I'd argue like Megumi has no identity, and has to journey out into the world in order to find one. Once again, I'm arguing Yuji had a normal life for seventeenish years even if he's Kenjaku's science fair project, Nobara was raised in a small village, Megumi is the only person who was born within the small secular world of sorcerers and never experienced anything else (who is also one of the main four characters) and unlike Gojo is helpless and not the strongest dude in existence.
Death is a stage of the fool's journey, it's not the end or even a literal death but a transformation. The fool's journey argues that a symbolic death has to happen of the old self in orderto make room for a new one. Which is true for a lot of things of life, in order to grow into an adult you have to stop being a child. Entering the next stage of life requires leaving behind the last one.
DEATH: The Fool now begins to eliminate old habits and tired approaches. He cuts out nonessentials because he appreciates the basics of life. He goes through endings as he puts the outgrown aspects of his life behind him. He process may seem like dying because it is the death (13) of his familiar self to allow for the growth of a new one. At times this inexorable change seems to be crushing the Fool, but eventually he rises up to discover that death is not a permanent state. It is simply a transition to a new, more fulfilling way of life.
The next stage after death is the temperance, which has you know... an Angel, which there's totally not one of those in Jujutsu Kaisen. While I wouldn't say that JJK is a manga that strictly follows the fool's journey like say Tokyo Ghoul does where you can map out stages of the story to different major arcana, "let fate toy with you before you die like a fool" I think isn't a stretch to connect to the idea of death and what it means to the fool's journey.
Megumi arguably also has to let things die in order to progress as a person. Tsumiki is more or less dead by the beginning of the story. We never see her on her own terms just Megumi's memories and you can't be alive in a memory, there was never any chance of resucing her because we knew she was possessed by Yorozu we were just led into believing she might have been one of the people who awakened a curse technique instead. Megumi in a way as cruel as this sounds needed to let Tsumiki die, because there was nothing he could have done to help her, and he hasn't allowed himself to grieve or mourn her or move past her in any way. His entire identity is built around protecting his princess, but his princess isn't in another castle, she's dead. He needs to find a new identity, a new reason of living, and that can't be Tsumiki or even Yuji because Yuji is just a repeat of Tsumiki even in the sense that both of them are doomed by the narrative.
Megumi needs to let his sister die and mourn her, and that also requires being alive to mourn her when this is all over.
Sukuna: The destruction of Tsumiki Fushiguro will allow me to completely bury Megumi Fushiguro.
Sukuna argues that the death of Tsumiki will be the death of Megumi, but in reality that's just the death of who Megumi used to be. The person who defined himself entirely as being Tsumiki's protector and existing for the sake of her happiness is gone along with Tsumiki, but there's still a chance he could start from scratch. This is what Sukuna compeltely fails to take into account, but then again Sukuna doesn't even understand why people who are weaker than him bother struggling to live in the first place.
Sukuna: Well, allow me to ask. Why are you so weak? You're weak, yet you cling to life. Cotinuing on your path means destruction, yet you wish to be happy as long as possible. You should spend your lives stifling your misery/ Yuji: You should be the one trying to stifle this misery! Suuna: Come coloser. (Hm? Why is he so tough? No, that's not right! It's my cursed energy output that's low!) Damn you, Megumi Fushiguro.
Immediately after seeing this speech about how weak people should stop resisting him because it's futile, watching Yuji continue to resist him sparks inspiration for Megumi to fgiht back from within. All of this showing evidence that Megumi is not doomed, he himself can still move on to form a new identity after this "death" he's experienced of his old ones. In fact it's probably going to be what beats Sukuna, because this is Sukuna's blindspot he doesn't think weak people are capable of resisting him in any way.
Strong and weak are separate categories in his mind, he doesn't think people can grow. But you know, Megumi's whole narrative challenge is to grow up.
Why Megumi, why not Yuji?
Megumi and Yuji are close character foils and a lot of things I said for Megumi could be said for Yuji as well, but I am pretty firm in saying Megumi's going to live instead of either Yuji living, or them both living. As I said this is because of what I think the difference in Yuji and Megumi's arcs are, Megumi is the child that's supposed to grow up that's his backstory, that's what he is symbolically, the child neglected and failed by every adult who came into his life (Toji, Gojo) and by sorcerer society as a whole.
Megumi's goal is individuation, to grow into a fully developed individual, an adult. It would be too tragic even for this manga to have Megumi be neglected and abandoned all his life and then to die like a fool.
Well, wouldn't it be tragic for Yuji, too?
Yes, but Yuji's narrative has been setting us up for that tragedy since the first chapter.
Tragedies aren't just stories where sad things happen, it's a pretty rigidly defined narrative structure. A tragedy just like any story is about set up and pay off. You set up certain ideas early on in the narrative, you prepare your audience for an ending and you deliver on that ending, any last minute flips, twists, unless those are properly set up too are going to be seen as narratively unsatisfying.
Tragedies don't happen because rocks fall and everyone dies. Tragedies in the modern sense happen because of the choices of the characters made over the course of the story, in other words you reap what you sew.
Unlike Megumi's narrative arc which has been setting us up for him to grow up, Yuji's has been setting up the opposite since day one.
Grandpa Itadori: Yuji, you're a strong kid, so help people. It doesn't ahve to be all the time just whenever you can. You may feel lost. Don't expect gratitude. Just help them. When it's your time to go, make sure you're surrounded by others. Don't end up like me.
Yuji's narrative challenge, a literal dying curse given to him by his grandfather is for him to help people in his life so he'll die being surrounded by friends instead of dying alone. Everything Yuji does after that, and swallowing the finger in the first chapter, is contemplating the kind of death he thinks is a "Good/Natural Death" and the kind of ugly and unsatisfying deaths that curses bring on their victims.
Yuji's reason initially for agreeing to be executed is that if he eats all 20 sukuna fingers, then he'll prevent a lot of the unnatural deaths in the world that would have been caused by curses being drawn to those fingers. He draws a line against the abrupt, gruesome, early deaths caused by curses and their victims and the kind of death his grandfather had where he at least had a natural death at the end of a long life.
Death... Well, I can somehow feel death from the school. I'm afraid of dying. I wonder if grndpa was scared of death. No, probably not. I cried because I was sad, not scared. The death I face now, and Grandpa's death... how are they different? You're a strong id, so help epople. He was short-tempered and stubborn. No one went to see him besides me. Don't end up like me, huh? I guess so, but... I think you died peacefully, grandpa. (Faces a curse spirit) This is not a natural death.
No matter who they are, Yuji wants to spare them from an unnatural death, because he on top of that doesn't think he has the right to make judgement calls on who lives and who dies. Yuji is constantly contemplating his own death and what it means from the narrative.
In the Cursed Womb arc, Yuji feels like he can faith his death only for him to become so terrified in the face of fighting a special grade cursed spirit that he loses the ability to keep Sukuna under his control and can't switch back with him after letting him go. Yuji realizes his resolve isnt' as strong as he thinks it is when actually facing death for the first time, but also how to channel those negative emotions into something because he pulls off his first divergent fist in the heat of the motion.
When encountering Junpei and Mahito, not only does Yuji elucidate Junpei on why he doesn't want to make judgement calls on who lives and who dies because even if he inevitably has to be a murderer one day he feels like if he does life will lose its values, he also is confronted with Mahito the antithesis of Yuji's beliefs. Mahito's way of killing is to mutilate humans so horribly they are begging for death, the unnatural death possible. He creates victims who Yuji cannot save and cannot bring a natural death, only be mercy killed, and he creates another one of Junpei right in front of Yuji just as he was on the brink of saving Junpei from his unnatural early death and sparing him instead of hunting him down and killing him as a curse user as he is supposed to.
In The Origin of Obeidence / Death Painting Arc not only does Yuji realize the two people he's killed are living beings who cried for their family members (also his brothers what a twist), but also he is told face to face by Sukuna that his action of eating the first cursed finger which he thought would make less curses appear in the world, actually caused the curse fingers to resonate and draw stronger curses to them. The action that he thought would save more people in the long term, has in fact, killed some people in the short term because of this resonance.
In the Shibuya arc, basically everything is thrown in Yuji's face, what was foreshadowed in the previous arc that eating the fingers with Sukuna might not save a bunch of people in the long term turns out to be true. Now no matter how many people he could save by offering himself to be executed after eating all 20 fingers, Yuji still has caused the massacre of thousands in Shibuya because of eating the finger.
In the aftermath Yuji is mindlessly killing curses as a cog, until at least Megumi shows up and begs for Yuji to "start by saving me..."
Yuji's arc is a self-reflection and contemplation on death, and his goal is to die on his own terms, but also to die surrounded by people unlike his grandpa who would die alone.
Tumblr media
Now, Yuji is currently the only character who has any interest at all in saving Megumi as a first priority (everyone else constantly just talks about the need to put Sukuna down first).
Saving Megumi at the cost of his life, fulfills Yuji's two narrative goals, helping people, and also dying surrounded by others. He also would be rejecting the cog mindset, because Jujutsu Society would say kill Megumi for the greater good above all else, it's what everyone else in this situation is prioritizing first. It's also fulfilling Megumi's request to Yuji "start by saving me..."
Yuji's death is tragic yes, but it would end in a way that's satisfying to his narrative arc. Yuji gets to determine the way he wants to die, and he dies out of choice, not as an unthinking cog, and not alone. Gojo's death is tragic, but it's also satisfying to his narrative, he wanted to live to be the strongest and using his strength selfishly even accomplishing some selfless goals and protecting others for selfish reasons and he got to go out on his own terms.
Yuji is the cage that Kenjaku built to contain Sukuna, and Yuji can probably devise some way to take Sukuna back from Megumi so he can choose once again to die on his own terms, this time at least for the sake of saving a friend who he can die beside.
Megumi's death would be tragic, and also unsatisfying to his narrative, because he wouldn't get the chance to grow up. He's not dying according to his own choice here either, if he's killed alongside Sukuna then he's being mercy killed, or sacrificed for the greater good (the greater good). Megumi didn't choose to get possessed, and if he's killed here by Yuji, or Yuta, or Maki or whoever he's not choosing to die either, or even getting to die fighting like Gojo did.
Jujutsu Kaisen is a tragedy, but it's also one where we have been telegraphed by the narrator that the society will have changed by the end of the narrative. The central goal of the narrative is to allow these ids to grow up in a better world, and become fully realized adults and in order to do that a few of the kids actually have to survive to adulthood. I argue that Megumi will be the one to survive, because he's the most childish, and with the most growing to do. It will still be tragic in a way, Megumi who only lives for others, having to learn to live for himself is about as bittersweet as you can get. However, if Megumi's narrative goal is to learn to live without Tsumiki, without Yuji, then the only way for him to do that is well... to live. Even if it's lonely, or hard, Megumi needs to live on past the end of the manga.

I just wrote that Megumi is "A blessing in a world of curses" and I just feel like crying about it. Because he is! He is a kind and very hurt boy, who was only trying to protect those he loved, but ended up dooming himself and those around him. Megs just wanted to be with his sister, he just wanted to save Yuji, he just wanted to free Gojo and he is suffering from all of this. He should be living with his friends in a cheesy, adorable romcom, strolling through Shibuya after karaoke and exchanging dog keychains with Yuji, not sunk into the abyss. I hate you, Gege Akutami. You will pay for all this pain and suffering, you crazy cat with low self-esteem. T-T

A Second Chance, A Father's Curse - Part 7 (Ryomen Sukuna x Reader
Tumblr media
I wrote this in four hours flat when I got slapped with a writer's blessing, I'm so glad I haven't been hit with writers block recently (Though unfortunately I have about three assignments due atm so I will probably not be posting after this for a week or two)
Part 6 here

Nue was alone. Megumi is in trouble. “We have to stay!” “You remember what he told us, if we stay, we risk dying, we’re not staying!” Choso is firm in his words as he manhandles a shivering Eso up onto the horse. “We can’t just leave him! He wouldn’t leave us, you know he wouldn’t!” Kechizu wails, clinging on to Yuji with knuckles pale green like lavender leaves.
“His instructions were explicit, and these are now my orders, Yuji, come on,” Yuji is looking forlornly in the direction the Captain had disappeared. Choso could figure out what was going through his mind, he knew how much his younger brother likes Megumi. Despite the bodyguard/prince relationship Megumi had always seemed more at ease around the Itadori sons.
The owl Shikigami shrieked, diving down into the forest near the brothers and then resurfacing from the canopy clutching something in its claws. A man dressed in black and red drops with a shout, they can hear the crack of his spine echoing through the woods. “WE GO, NOW,” Choso orders, “STOP FUCKING AROUND,”
Yuji shakes his head vigorously, swinging Kechizu up into the saddle and then leaping onto his horse himself. He takes hold of the reins and Choso barely catches a glance of Kechizu’s fear before the two are gone northward.
“Choso!” Eso asks, confused, “What are you waiting for?!” “A sign!” He growls, mounting behind his brother and clutching the reins tightly around his brothers midsection as he squints into the trees, “Nue was protecting something, not just us,” He mutters, the horse nervously tiptoeing beneath them.
He hears the shriek once again and his gaze lifts to the sky, spotting the Shikigami flying off to the north with another body in its claws. This one isn’t moving, and Choso’s eyes zero in on its clothing. He knows that clothing. “Is that…” Eso trails off quietly, Choso can almost hear the tears in his eyes. “We’re going!” Choso huffs, leaning into his brother’s back and urging the horse to follow.
It takes only a few moments for the sounds of numerous other horses to emerge from the trees around him, Choso curses himself for his heart weakened by his brothers for just one quiet moment, “Fuck!” He grunts. Eso cries quietly, trying desperately to stay still and hidden beneath Choso’s cloak, but the wind billowing around them makes it harder than it should be.
“GOT TWO OF ‘EM!” A shout rings out in a voice that Choso is afraid to admit he might recognise- And it solidifies the fact that none of them are safe anymore. All four brothers are being mercilessly hunted, and it’s kill or be killed.
Choso ducks under the first arrow shot in their direction, the second is close behind and Choso fears for a moment that he may crush his brother in his attempts to stay small. “Ch-oso!” Eso chokes for a moment, “I can… try something!” Choso squeezes his elbows in tighter, “I can help!”
“Don’t do anything,” Choso hisses, “Just stay down!” “No! It hurts!” Eso sobs, Choso can feel his brother’s blood turning sour and he leans back in shock. Eso’s white tunic tears in two, the boy quickly losing control of his cursed energy which, as Choso is about to discover, lashes out with reckless abandon when he is terrified.
The torn fabric is quickly stained red and droplets of blood spray to either side of Choso, though the man still lifts his arm to protect his eyes from the onslaught that erupts from the mutilated face on his brother’s back. He can hear his brother sobbing beneath him as the horse pushes forward, he can sense the beasts terror despite the fact the two of them remain untouched by Eso’s Rot technique.
After a few seconds of chaos, the blood slows to a trickle and Choso resumes his position shielding his brother. The boy lifts a shaking hand and snaps his finger, mumbling the word ‘Decay’, before passing out, and a single stray arrow is launched as the chorus of screaming begins.
It finds its mark lodged in Eso’s leg, the boy not even letting out a single peep despite the shout that erupts from Choso’s mouth, his own blood technique shooting out with a complete lack of finesse and somehow managing to mutilate the archer covered in black flowers.
“A NON-NEGOTIABLE!” He screams over his shoulder, the agonised wails growing quieter with every second as he breathes heavily, gripping the reins so tight his fingers might fall off. “A non-negotiable,” He whispers.
Empty.
Alone.
~
“Today’s the day,” Your mother is quiet, but holds hopeful anticipation. She’s trying to remain optimistic for you, but she knows you haven’t been spending much time with Ryomen over the past week.
“Everything’s gonna be fine, we’ll be ok,” You murmur, brushing down the skirts of your dress. It’s a rich navy blue colour, matching Iqoria’s traditional colours, and it has an entirely cut out back. A symbol of trust you have chosen to display between the new ruler and her people. Your mother’s display had consisted of a set of chains that suppressed her cursed energy for the duration of her ascension.
You couldn’t stop your mind from racing, but you knew this needed to be done. This ceremony would go off without a hitch, and you would be Queen before sundown. “Ryomen is waiting for you in the carriage will take you to the town square,” Your mother murmurs, adjusting your hair slightly as you take your princess tiara off.
It will now go to the hall of ancestors, and be encased beneath the portrait taken of you at age ten, to be traded out for your new tiara once the ceremony is over and you have no more need of the bulky crown that you’ve been told weighs more than it really should.
“Just keep your head steady, you can use your cursed energy to help you,” She advises as you walk side by side, “Nobody will blame you, the thing weighs as much as a new-born baby,” She murmurs with a giggle so unlike her.
The sun gives no warmth, but has come out from behind the clouds to witness this day. You shield your eyes against it and peer up at the birds flying so freely over the city, wondering what it would be like for just a moment as you approach the carriage.
“You look perfect,” Are the first words words he says to you. You suppose for a moment it’s exactly what you needed to hear, it lifts a small weight off your shoulders as you settle into the carriage opposite him. “Have you been sleeping?”
That comment stings a bit, you shake your head, “Not… well,” You murmur, “But I’m still alive, aren’t I?” He meets your gaze, his eyes so often red with overflowing cursed energy these days that you can’t quite recall the shade of brown they used to be, “Surviving isn’t the same as living,” He takes your chin between his fingers, tilting your head, “I know that better than anyone,”
You nod the little you can while still held in his grasp before he brings his other hand up, cupping your cheeks gently, “My Queen,” he murmurs, testing the title on his tongue. You find yourself enjoying the way it sounds in his deep rumble and you sigh quietly.
“Will you allow me to return to your side?” He whispers, and you become increasingly aware of the makeup they’ve used to cover up his own dark circles, “I… fear I am also only surviving, not being by your side like I should be,” Your heart gives a little twinge and your face twists as you resist the feeling of tears.
“I want you to return to my side on your own terms, Ryomen,” You croak, “I promised, and I will not give you any more orders that I do not have to. You can do as you please with your sleeping arrangements,” He gently strokes his thumbs just below your eyes, “Whether that brings you back to my side or not, is entirely your choice,”
Your voice wavers with emotions that you haven’t been able to process properly in the wake of your brother’s death and you can tell he’s feeling something similar to you. He blinks a few times and his face returns to one of indifference, nodding once determinedly, “Then we will see,” He murmurs, “Now do not cry, you are strong, and you are to be Queen,”
He is by your side through the entire ceremony, remaining a pillar of resolute steadiness that helps you to reel in your cursed energy as you feel it wavering under the gazes of the people. Their tears empower you, their cries for your brother and their cheers for you, everything seems to bring those pesky tears back.
But his arm remains linked with yours, as you walk between your people to the steps of the main town hall where your mother waits with the crown by her side. Knelt before her, she smiles proudly as she lowers it to your head.
She wasn’t lying, through the ringing in your ears and the velvet now settled on your head, you almost struggle to stand under both the physical and metaphorical weight of the crown. Her hands linger like she seeks to aid you, or even take if off your head again, but you push through and stand without any cursed energy assistance.
The crowd is completely silent. Or maybe you’re just not hearing them, because something is happening, you can feel the vibrations through your entire body. You fear for a moment that it’s started, it’s finally happening, but when you go to turn around Ryomen grabs your hands.
You look up into his eyes and he smiles crookedly, his own crown less extravagant than yours but no less important, “Everything is fine,” You read the words on his lips more than hear them, and the world suddenly rushes back in to greet you. The cheering as you turn to face them, the overwhelming support you feel.
Not only that but the shared grief of a people, your brother’s passing still raw in everyone’s minds. There are tears on your cheeks, this you realise a few moments later, but it’s okay. There are many tears in the crowd today, and there will be many more before the sun fully sets.
~
“Your majesty, there’s been… a development,” Gojo whispers into your ear. You clench your fist beneath the table, glad the heavy crown is now nowhere to be seen as you turn to face the sorcerer, “What is it?” “I think you’ll want to see for yourself,” He murmurs, nodding once, “I will be waiting in the dungeon beneath the sorcerer tower,”
You frown, that dungeon is reserved only for those who enter Iqoria with cursed energy beyond second grade without identification. Ryomen, having heard the exchange, grabs your clenched fist under the table, “Excuse us,” He announces to the table, “We have something urgent to attend to,”
Under any other circumstance, you would have reprimanded him for acting on your behalf, but you’re too busy frowning and wondering what it could have been that didn’t warrant even a short explanation at the dinner table.
The two of you stand and you briefly smile, “Please, do not wait for us, continue to enjoy the food,” You speak to the room before lifting your skirts slightly and walking briskly after the unfairly tall sorcerer.
Ryomen is on your heels and you can sense his agitation, “What is it?” You ask him as you walk together, exiting the castle and heading for the tower. “Something is wrong,” He murmurs, “Something is very wrong,”
“What do you mean?” You grab his arm, stopping him from walking, but he does not look at you. His gaze is locked on the tower ahead, “Someone…” he mutters, “Someone is gravely injured, another in distress,”
You take this as a sign that you must make haste, resuming your walk until you’re almost running, and you throw the door to the tower open before descending the stairs into the dungeon.
“WHERE IS HE?” The shout reaches you before you even get halfway down and Ryomen straightens, his eyes wide, “WHERE DID YOU TAKE HIM?” “That’s…” he trails off, before sprinting the rest of the way down with you barely able to keep up for fear of tripping.
When you finally reach the bottom everything is silent. Ryomen stands firm in the doorway, his shoulders heaving with every breath, and you can see Gojo’s fluff of white hair over your husband’s shoulder.
You push past your husband without much care, prepared for almost anything, but immediately come up short on what to say.
“You…” You whisper, your gaze darting between the two furious men and the black eyed boy, all behind bars, the boy clearly frightened out of his mind. You know these people.
“Where’s the fourth?”
~
“ESO!” Yuji’s scream tears Choso’s heart in two. “Do not look!” He shouts, draping his cloak further to block Yuji’s view, “Just ride on!”
Nue remains far above them, Choso swears that his eyes are drawn to the blood dripping from the Captain in the owl’s grasp but he isn’t willing to admit they might lose two people today. Eso’s wound is superficial, even though the arrow is lodged deep in his leg it will not cause lasting damage.
Choso is more concerned about the outburst of cursed energy from the boy than anything else, and with the mountain border between the Creyarean district and Iqoria fast approaching he feels his stress mounting.
He knows they won’t be welcome, they bring only bad omens and a sign of war, but they have no other choice. The climb is steady, Choso is silently resenting the rider-less stallion that walks beside him, black as night like the captain hung from the sky.
He had spooked and gone after Yuji, bolting before Choso could cut the saddle loose, but now resolutely walked onward like he can sense his master is still close. “Get over the crest, they cannot follow us past the border!” He shouts up the rock face at his brother two turns above him.
“NUE!” Yuji hollers. The arrows haven’t been consistent but they’re annoying enough that something must be done. The owl swoops down and Choso has to wrestle with Megumi’s horse to keep it walking steadily.
Once Nue has dropped Megumi onto his stomach over the saddle, it dives with a shriek, grabbing insistently at the men who follow them on horseback. Lightning flashes every few seconds and the tinge of burning flesh rises to invade Choso’s senses.
Choso ties the reins of the black stallion to his own mount, reaching over to adjust Megumi slightly, “I GOT HIM!” He shouts up to Yuji, “BUT HE WON’T STAY ON LONG UNDER HIS OWN WEIGHT,”
It’s simply too dangerous to stop and tie the captain to the saddle like they would secure a prisoner, and Choso cannot have two unconscious people on his horse along with himself, it’s too much weight.
Eso beneath him groans in pain, wordless, shifting slightly, “Do not move,” Choso hisses, his hand slipping between Eso and the horse to hold him up. The boy quivers like a leaf, “C-cold,” He mumbles, making Choso’s heart skip a terrifying beat.
He urges the horse on faster and Megumi’s horse falls in step until they’re moving probably too fast. Thankfully Nue is there to lift Megumi once again, taking him to Yuji who now waits at the crest, horse treading nervously as they wait for Choso.
“We’re not alone,” Yuji looks over his shoulder and Choso follows his gaze back, the mountain path blocked by a young man dressed in a white shirt. His eyes are a little sunken, he looks almost as tired as Choso, and the elder brother moves until he’s placed his horse between the stranger and Yuji.
“What an odd little party,” The young man murmurs, reaching over his back and unsheathing a katana, “Rika, shall we?”
“Fuck,” Choso swears as the man’s Shikigami emerges from the sky above him, her form massive and almost blotting out the view down the other side of the mountain.
She breathes heavily, the sound wavering like an out of tune violin as her horrific form bears down on them, claws long as Choso is tall. “Choso!” Yuji shouts, "We’re-"
“Rika,” The young man interrupts, pointing his katana through the gap between the brothers, “Kill,”
~
“Where is the fourth?” You repeat the question in the silence, looking to Gojo.
“He is with Shoko, your majesty,” A new voice rings out and you turn around, spotting Yuta stood just behind the door leant against the wall, “He’ll live, as will their companion,”
You’re not sure if you should feel relief or fear. Something drove them here, something made them leave their home.
“Why…” You take a breath, “Why have you come?” You turn back to the eldest, who you recall is Choso, heir to Khoccadia’s throne. It occurs to you that Ryomen has not spoken a single word since he entered the room.
“Our father seeks to declare war,” He growls, “We are no longer safe, he was going to turn his anger at Ryomen’s ascension to a throne out on us,” Geto steps forward, “And how is that our problem?” He asks.
“It will become your problem if he gets his way, he will not stop until this kingdom is nothing but dust and bones,” Choso replies, gripping the iron bars of his cell. “Your father is a king from a bygone era, he could not hold a candle to Iqoria’s strength, especially now,” Geto taps the hilt of his sword on the bars teasingly and you roll your eyes with a huff, crossing your arms.
The room is silent after your small sound, but then a small voice pipes up, “I-is brother Ryomen here?” It’s the youngest boy, Kechizu, his body inhuman and fragile, eyes blind to the world. Yuji reaches through the bars and takes his younger brother’s hand, choosing not to reply, but looking towards your husband pleadingly.
“Yes, I am here,” Ryomen murmurs, spurred into action and darting over to the cell. “Ryomen!” Kechizu cries, flailing for a moment before he catches a grasp on the hand Ryomen has pushed through the bars, leaning into his older brother’s touch.
You turn to Geto, “Step back, Captain, I’ll take it from here,” You order him and he dips his head, allowing you to step closer until you’re face to face with the Crown prince of Khoccadia. The man meets your gaze unwaveringly, looking like he’s ready to kill without a moment’s hesitation.
You glance at Yuta, “How did you find them?” “At the mountain border my lady,” The apprentice replies, “Being pursued by assassins. Rika took care of the hunters and I escorted them to the city, Gojo wanted to take more precautions but I took the injured to Shoko,”
You then look to Gojo for confirmation and the sorcerer nods, “That’s what he told me,” The man thinks for a second, “But their companion is of Zenin blood, from the Thekirin empire. He’s being held in Shoko’s specialist suppression room,”
“And the boy?” You ask, turning back to Yuta. “I was returning to update the Itadori princes, Eso is recovering, Shoko is not allowing him to be conscious as she fears another outburst and she requests the presence of her Majesty and Prince Choso,”
“So be it,” You nod to Gojo, “Let him out, and you two can stand outside and wait,” You say pointing between Geto and Gojo. You want to give Ryomen time alone with his two remaining younger brothers, lost as he is in their hushed whispers and gentle cries.
Gojo flicks a hand and Choso’s cell swings open, allowing the Prince partial freedom once again, “Come, we have much to discuss,” You turn and sense him following you out the doors and back up the stairs into the sorcerer tower. The silence is edged with mistrust, you can tell he doesn’t feel safe here even this far away from his father.
You suppose he’s justified in his apprehensions, Jin Itadori will descend upon Iqoria eventually. Nowhere is far enough to shelter from war of this kind.
“How has Ryomen been?” It surprises you that he is the first to break the silence as you walk, navigating your way through the halls to the infirmary of the castle.
You glance sideways at him, “I am sure you would much rather hear it from his mouth, as I am not his mouthpiece nor am I his master,” You pause for a moment, “But, from what I have seen, he has been improving,”
He nods, his hands clenching and unclenching as he surveys each and every hallway and turn you take. “You wouldn’t happen to know his technique, would you?” You chance the question, a shot in the dark as to whether he’ll answer or not, but he shakes his head.
This surprises you more, but his answer you can tell is entirely truthful, “He wasn’t ever allowed to use it within the castle itself, he only ever used cursed energy during training. Even then, I think he was too suppressed to be able to manifest his technique in the first place,”
You let out a gentle sigh, feeling an entirely new weight settle on your shoulders. The safety of these princes, your husbands brothers now a part of your family by marriage, rests on your decisions. You cannot make the wrong choice, though you can only see one true and untainted path ahead of you.
To the left, you drive them out. They surely will have led at least somebody right to your borders, their location well known by now.
To the right, you shelter them. You care for them as they recover, they live and train with your family and they fight against the inevitable threat of their father.
No matter the choice, the threat of Jin Itadori hangs over your head like a guillotine.
One that is sure to come down, whether you’re ready for it or not.

“You can’t be serious,”
“I’m deadly serious,”
“You want me to get you that body?”
A shrug.
“It might not be a powerful choice, but it more than makes up for it with the shock factor,”
“You truly are a psychopath! I love it!”
“Oh you flatter me, it was merely a spur of the moment decision,”
“I can do much more than flatter, but time will tell if your little plan works,”
“It’ll work, you’ll make sure of it, won’t you?”
A voice in the shadows.
“That I will,”

The Orange Peel Theory
[the orange peel theory: the idea that someone cares enough about you to do even the most mundane tasks that you are completely capable of doing yourself - an act of service in the small things]
synopsis : megumi shows yuji that he'd peel an orange for him despite the rind getting stuck under his nails and the citrus smell sticking to his fingers.
(this isn't about oranges- it's actually about dumplings, but you get it....)
word count : 835
Tumblr media
"Alright, let's get this going. Nobara really takes advantage when I offer to cook for her parties," Yuji craned his neck from side to side, rolling up his sleeves before stepping in front of the sink. "I mean, come on–" he started, meticulously scrubbing his hands with a heavy sigh as he thought about the tedious prep work he'd have to do to make his famous dumplings.
"The thinly sliced carrots piss you off," Megumi interjected with a small smile on his face, "That reminds me, I have a surprise for you," Megumi quirked his brow towards the refrigerator. "It's not much, I'd probably burn the whole house down if i tried to actually help you with the cooking, but–”
Yuji padded over to the fridge wondering if Megumi just decided to buy premade dumplings to avoid the hassle.
His back creaked as he bent down to come face to face with the lower half of the appliance, mild anticipation sparking with the creaking hinges of the door. A breath caught in his chest, his heart coming to a complete stop. He felt silly with the way he audibly gulped and tears brimmed in his eyes.
It had been a mindless rant. Nothing serious. The two of them laid in bed the previous night, Yuji scoffing at his phone as he saw Nobara’s texts asking if he could bring his homemade dumplings.
"The prep work is so time consuming, I'll have to try and come home early tomorrow," he’d sighed. "The recipe is a blessing and a curse,” he groaned as he buried his face into Megumi’s chest. “I like my dumplings as much as the next person, but everything has to be so finely chopped and it takes so long," Yuji continued.
Before him, now, were containers full of prepped vegetables. Shredded carrots, minced ginger, stringy green onions.
"You did this?" Yuji's voice was small, a hairline away from cracking as he turned to Megumi with his arms full of containers. All labeled and packed to preserve freshness. Scallions floating in water and leafy greens topped with a paper towel to keep them from wilting. Fushiguro knew next to nothing about cooking, let alone prep before Yuji came into his life. The sentiment that he went out of his way to do this all so perfectly had Yuji’s heart swelling in his chest.
"I mean, yeah, you hate doing the prep," Megumi shrugged, gesturing to the veggies, his fingers wrapped in bandages that had tigers and bunnies printed on them, cutesy ones Yuji always had in his pocket in case he came across a child that slipped and scraped their skin. “I know you're always standing for so long and it hurts your knees.”
"You don't know how to cook," Yuji whispered, dumbfounded, earning a snicker from his boyfriend.
"Chopping is different from cooking. Like I said, I probably would've burned down our apartment if I tried to help you cook." He huffed a stronger snort, the corners of his lips tugged into a wide grin.
“It takes you forever to chop anything. How long were you standing here? It was your day off,” his lips wobbled trying so hard not to let his tears slide down his cheeks. He sucked in a hiccup as he thought about how his boyfriend stood in the kitchen for most of the day, wincing every time he nicked his fingers, shifting his weight between his feet as the time weighed heavily on his shoulders.
Megumi stepped towards Yuji, wiping the stubborn tears from his boyfriend's lash line. "It's not a big deal, you don't have to cry." He cooed softly, pulling Yuji in close.
"You saved me a lot of time," Yuji rasped, hands clinging to the pockets of Megumi's sweats.
"I know," Megumi chuckled fondly, planting a soft kiss high on Yuji's cheek.
"And you hurt yourself," he acknowledged, taking Megumi’s hands in his, holding them to his chest.
"It's not too bad. I'll get better. Won't cut myself too much next time," his boyfriend assured, bringing in a fresh sting of tears to the skin around Yuji’s eyes at the implication that he would be more than willing to prep vegetables for him again. Yuji had always done things himself. He never imagined anyone doing such small gestures, tiny things you'd never think of doing for another person. He was perfectly capable of doing it himself, everything Megumi knew about cooking came from him. There was no doubt in mind that his boyfriend knew that these were things he could do–  easily– but he did them anyway because he knew how much Yuji hated doing it. It started out as a small rant, nothing had to come from it, but Megumi took it to heart, taking time out of his day to think of ways to give Yuji an easier time.
"And I love you," Yuji rasped with closed lids as he nuzzled his face into the crook of Megumi’s neck.
"I love you too."

Being well known on your college campus is a blessing and a curse. You loved being involved in a lot of clubs and participating in social events. Going to the library or trying to study was nearly impossible with how many people knew you. However being a senior, you needed to focus and get things done. You lived a little ways off campus to save money and started frequenting a little coffee shop a few blocks from your apartment.
The first time you stopped, you had been walking home from class when a storm with bad winds blew in, and you decided to just study in this cafe until the storm passes. There are little tables all throughout, you grab one near the back and pull out some of your course materials and get started writing notes and going over chapters for your quiz in a few days. That is when a yawn washes over you and the exhaustion from late nights sets in. You figure you might as well get a drink while you're at this coffee shop.
Walking up to the counter you squint up at the menu board trying to decide what you're in the mood for.
"What can I get for you?" a man's voice asks.
Lost in your indecisiveness you don't even look down to make eye contact reading between Americano, Latte, Cold Brew, etc.
"Mmmm, not sure yet, I may need a few minutes," biting your bottom lip thinking about how much caffeine you want to intake today.
"We also have a list of specials down in front of you," he says politely and you see him walk away out of your peripherals.
The thing is, you're not a huge coffee person. Half the time it's too sweet, half the time it's too bitter. The caffeine gives you jitters and makes you anxious. Also sometimes coffee just messes your stomach up so you just have given up on expensive coffee places and opt for making your own shitty coffee at home.
You glance down at the specials list, reading them to yourself,
"Almond Joy Latte
Sparkling Green Tea Refresher
Pink Velvet Cold Brew
Barista's Choice"
You finally look up at the employee, a tall man that is turned around cleaning the espresso machine. His hair is pulled back into a cute bun and his frame is just large. You look at his hands, so large and strong with some veins protruding. He has a black button up on with the sleeves rolled up, exposing tattoos on his forearms. Matching it with black pants and a black apron, he looks kind of dark and mysterious.
He turns around and catches your eye, forgetting all the words that were about to form in your head.
"Still need a minute?" He squints his eyes a little and smiles softly as your eyes rake over his whole face. He has a piece of black bangs sticking out from the bun, pierced ears, a lip ring, amber eyes, and an amazingly chiseled jaw. Your mouth opens but nothing comes out and you can feel the heat spread across your cheeks.
"Uh, I, sorry," you shake your head and try to laugh at your own stupor, "Can I do the barista's choice?"
He nods, "Any preferences?"
"Uhm, no, whatever you like," you completely lie through your teeth trying to seem chill. He taps in the order on the iPad at the register and flips it over for you to pay and sign. At least it isn't too expensive if you don't like it, but you eagerly press the "25%" tip button hoping Mr. tall, dark, and handsome appreciates it.
"I'll bring it over to you when it's ready," he smiles and nods his head towards where you were seated.
"Thanks," you smile awkwardly walking back to your course materials, although it's not like you'll be focusing on anything other than the barista soon. You not-so-casually watch him work, obsessed with a man you've hardly spoken to once.
A few minutes later he brings over a cute tea cup and saucer, and you immediately smile when he sets it down, seeing the little design on top.
"It's a dirty chai...like a chai tea latte with a shot of espresso in it and a little special touch. Let me know if you like it."
The man smirks and walks away before you can even properly thank him. You burn your tongue eagerly taking a sip too soon, trying to find another excuse to talk to him. You try to take your mind off of it by scrolling through instagram for a bit while drinking your latte but around this time of year its all couples and engagements and babies which only adds to how down bad you feel. You get a text from your friend Nobara letting you know that a friend of her friend, Megumi, is having a party Friday and the friend told Megumi who told Nobara that they could bring whoever. After deciphering the word vomit of a text she sent you you send back a "thumbs up emoji" letting her know you'll be there because nobody else has invited you anywhere yet.
You finish your drink and decide to pack up your stuff and head home, a few blocks in the rain won't hurt you. It might cool you off from thinking about the dreamy barista you just met. You set the cute mug on the counter, and he turns around when he hears the noise. He raised an eyebrow, as if asking 'how was it?'
"It was great," you smile, "uhm, have a good one," you slightly shrug and turn around to go before he can add anything, just like he did to you earlier.
-
The next few days are uneventful, you walk by the coffee shop every day on your way to campus, wondering if he is working or if you should go in, but not wanting to struggle to pick a drink or pay for coffee again.
On Friday Nobara walks back to your apartment with you, she commutes in to town so whenever there is a party or something going on she crashes on your couch. She eyes the little cafe, "Want coffee? I think tonight might be pretty fun from the sounds of it!" She practically squeals and you find it adorable how excited she is. "Sure" you grumble, holding the door open for her.
She waltzes right up to the counter, decisive as always, and knows exactly what she wants. You trail behind her, not seeing any employees at the counter, squinting up at the menu board yet again. That's when you hear giggling come from the back room and see the handsome barista come out with some supplies, followed by a cute girl with a short brown bob who seems to be helping him.
You can't help but think about his beautiful laugh, and how you can hear it again.
"See ya tonight Shoko" he says, putting his apron back on and refocusing his attention to Nobara.
"Bye Geto!" This so called Shoko calls back to him as she walks out the front door. You cant help but feel a twinge of jealousy at the way he was in the backroom with his apron off and laughing with a girl.
Like girl - quit being delusional, you just heard his name for the first time and he probably doesn't even know who you are.
"Y/n, what do you want?" Nobara interrupts your talk with yourself.
"I'll have what she's having," you say overly confident, smiling at Geto. They both side eye you and you just remain oblivious, opting to go on your phone as you let your friend pay for your coffee as payment for her 'hotel' for the night. The two of you move out of the way and stand off to the side waiting for your drinks while Nobara talks about how Megumi's other friend Yuji is going to be there tonight with his big brother Sukuna and how excited she is because they're both sooo attractive. You nod your head along with what she says while scrolling on your phone. It's not that you don't care what she's saying, it's just that she knows so much about everything. All the gossip on campus is at your fingertips because of her, good or bad. You zone out staring at whatever drinks the barista is making, watching his damn good looking hands do his job. He walks over to you with two cups and you can't help but just stare at him. His outfit today consists of jeans and a tight black tshirt with a flannel jacket over top.
"Two iced matcha lattes with coconut milk and a strawberry cold foam on top," He smiles as Nobara eagerly grabs both of the drinks and hands one to you.
She sips it right away, "This is the best I've ever had thank youuu," she dramatically draws out while pulling you out the door heading to your apartment again. You look back to see him watching you leave and give a small wave with the hand that is holding your drink. You can't tell if you're imagining it but you think you see a faint blush over his cheeks.
-
You and Nobara enjoy your typical pregame activities, getting ready together, listening to music, and sharing a blunt.
"The guy at the coffee shop was checking you out," she half slurs, talking while applying her lip gloss.
"What makes you say that?" You think she's messing with you but you also hadn't told her about your little crush.
"When I was ordering he was staring at you the WHOLE time. Like he didn't even make eye contact with me I don't think!" She wines, "God it's not fair he's so gorgeous."
"To be fair Nobara, you think most guys are gorgeous" You giggle and walk towards the freezer to grab some liquor. "Speaking of gorgeous men, who's party are we even going to tonight?"
"I think it's at some guy named Satoru Gojo's house? I guess he's good childhood friends with Megumi from when he didn't really have a dad." There goes your friend, sharing other people's business when she didn't really need to.
"Mmm," you nod and throw back a shot of liquor, "I think I had a class with him when I was like a freshman and he was a senior. A real interesting character."
"Maybe you can introduce me and I'll get lucky," Nobara raises her eyebrows at you.
"You will not be having sex on my couch." You say sternly before you both erupt in a fit of giggles. Gathering a few last minute things before heading out, you also grab a reusable shopping tote and fill it with a little bit of your own alcohol, you never know what they may or may not have at these kinds of parties.
-
Walking there was a little chilly but overall a nice night for the time of year. This guy must've gone to your school and hadn't left yet given the proximity of his house to your apartment and to campus.
You walk in and see Yuji Itadori right away with his friendly smile and big personality. He gives you both hugs and you know at least if Nobara doesn't get lucky with anyone else she can rely on Yuji.
Your energetic friend holds your hand as she searches the rest of the party to find her friend Megumi. He stands in the kitchen with a white haired man that you faintly think is this Gojo guy, both getting ready to shotgun a beer together. You and Nobara wait to see who wins before interrupting, grabbing drinks out of the cooler and setting down your bag with liquor and hard seltzers in it. It appears that Gojo finishes just a second before Megumi and you hear Nobara interrupting, "Gumi what was that?! You lost like a little bitch?"
He groans in response but ultimately smiles, "Why am I friends with you again?"
"Because you've been stuck with me since high school."
Watching the altercation, Gojo comes up to you and asks, "You're with them?" Nodding his head at the two immaturely arguing.
"Sadly." you respond taking a swig of your drink.
"I'm Satoru Gojo, this is my place, thanks for coming." He eyes you over top of his black round sunglasses, making you feel like you may be wearing too revealing of clothes.
"I'm y/n, thanks for the invite by proxy," You giggle as Megumi makes his way over to you.
"Y/n, good to see you," the spikey haired boy gives you an awkward side hug, and a little kiss on the top of your head. Satoru raises his eyebrows at the two of you and you roll your eyes. When Megumi and Nobara get distracted and head into another room you fill him in. "Megumi and I may have hooked up once or twice when we were drunk," You blush, revealing your secret that hardly anyone knew to this stranger.
"Mhmm, seems like more than once or twice," Gojo sips his drink and sighs dramatically, leaving the kitchen to you alone.
Just then the back door of the kitchen that leads to the back yard creaks open. You turn to see who it was out of instinct, and recognize the girl with the brown bob from the cafe earlier today. She carries on past you not even really looking at you with her cigarette still lit in her mouth.
You see Nobara in the living room from your spot on the kitchen and mouth to her that you're going outside to smoke. She nods and thumbs up, but it seems that Yuji also read your lips and is interested in joining you.
You head out to the backyard, very dimly lit despite the pretty lights Gojo tried to hang up to make it look more aesthetic. You pull out a dab pen and a cigarette and hold them up for Yuji to take his pick. His eyes light up at the weed pen and he takes a huge inhale.
"God Yuji, careful," you laugh and proceed to take a smaller hit.
Your laugh seems to attract the attention of another group standing outside, and you immediately quiet yourself.
"Do you have a light?" One of them asks although you can't make out names or voices and even if you could you don't know many people here.
"Yeah," you respond, digging out a baby pink lighter that has a "Daddy's Girl" sticker on it, a joke that one of your friends gave you. Hopefully its dark enough that they can't see it.
A blonde guy approaches you to grab it, "Thanks, we have some seats over here if you guys want." Yuji happily follows but you're a little apprehensive. However they do have a firepit going so it is a little brighter over there.
"I'm Kento, this is my boyfriend Yu," the two introduce themselves, lighting their cigs at the same time with your lighter. You take another small hit of your pen as the brunette one comments, "Nice lighter." It makes you cough on your smoke a bit but eventually turns into laughter, "Thank you," You smile grabbing it back from them.
Yuji seems to be a little high from his rather large puff earlier, and you ask, "I'm going to go check on Nobara, you need anything?" He smiles and shakes his head and starts some conversation about an underground fight club with the two guys as you walk back inside. You enter back into the kitchen, grabbing another drink and heading into the living room where you last saw Nobara. She is having a heart to heart with some girl that graduated last year that you know of named Maki. They both have been drinking and just are smiling and agreeing with everything the other says.
She suddenly turns to you when she realizes you're standing there, "Your lover, he's here." She abruptly turns back around ignoring your inquiry of who she is referring to. You see Gojo and Megumi talking in the kitchen and decide to go talk to them instead of standing there looking awkward. You couldn't see from the angle you were at, but the brunette bob cigarette girl was also standing with them chatting.
Gojo waves you over to the conversation, putting a playful arm around your shoulders. "So sweetheart," Satoru starts, slurring his words a little more than he was the last time you talked to him, "Were trying to place bets on who's going to hook up with who tonight."
"Shoko has money on Suguru and Yuki, Megumi bets on Nobara and Yuji, and me, well I have money on you and Megumi." The four of you errupt in laughter and yelling over top of each other of who is correct.
"What are we arguing about?" Another voice asks that just came into the kitchen. You turn to see who it is with Gojo's arm still loosely hanging onto you.
"Suguruuuu" Satoru coos, "Finally joined the party! Shoko here thinks you're going to hook up with Yuki tonight."
"Like hell," he mutters looking to see who his best friends choice of girl is for the evening, before his eyes land on you. You can't help but drop your jaw at the beautiful barista from the cafe standing in front of you. It looks like he just showered, wet hair which is half up half down, and you can smell the fresh body wash radiating off of him.
"Who'd you bet Satoru?" Suguru questions, still having his eyes focused on you.
"I bet little miss y/n here and her boy toy Megumi." He responds and your cheeks flush at the fact this beautiful man may think you're not interested because of Gojo's fat mouth.
"Who'd you bet on?" Shoko asks directed towards Geto.
"I'll have to get back to you on that," he turns to get a drink from the cooler before taking a step outside, you assume to smoke.
You excuse yourself from under Satoru's arm, leaving him Megumi and Shoko to talk about more random gossip. Heading to the backdoor, you try to build up some courage to introduce yourself to this Geto guy. Much to your dismay, as you are walking out of the door in your own thoughts, another person was coming through the door to go inside but was a lot more solid than you. Bouncing back onto your ass you giggle, "I'm so so sorry, I wasn't paying attention," you look up to meet the amber eyes you've been thinking about for the past week. It feels like the wind has gotten knocked out of you seeing how close your faces were with him grabbing your hand to help you up.
“I’m sorry, didn’t mean to knock you over like that,” he slightly laughs. “I’m just grabbing a lighter,” letting go of your hand holding the door open.
“Oh I have one here!” You pull it out of your pocket kicking yourself for showing it to someone else again. Well maybe it will at least start a conversation. You hand it to him and he lights his cigarette, not making a comment and hands it back to you. You also decide to light a cigarette, trying your best to look cool doing it but because of the wind you’re having a little trouble. Suguru sticks up his hand to block the wind for you. His damn hands. It’s like as big as your face up close and you say “thanks” with the cigarette hanging out of your mouth now lit.
“Y/n? Is that your name?” He breaks the silence first.
“Yes, are you Suguru?” You ask sweetly back
“Suguru Geto, the one, the only, barista extrodinaire,” he laughs and draws a puff.
“I like your laugh.” You blurt out, now realizing your judgement is a little impaired from your weed alcohol and nicotine pairing. “Sorry that just kind of came out.”
“That’s okay,” he stares at you with kind eyes ashing his cigarette against Gojos house.
“Did you like the matcha today?” He asks after you don’t respond.
“Actually no,” you bust out laughing, “I don’t like matcha I was just distracted when she was ordering.”
“Distracted by what?” He asks.
“You,” you realize how close your faces are and how intimate the moment is with your glowing cigarettes and how intoxicating the mix of his smell is.
He nods and smirks at your response, glancing down at your lips. “I think I want to get to know you more y/n.”
You gather all the courage that you haven’t had with this man for the past few days and put it all in your lips and lean in to kiss him. He kisses back, graciously, putting his hand against the back of your head as you place your hand on his hard pec. He depends the kiss, moving his lips passionately before entering his tongue into your mouth. His free hand wraps around your waist.
Just as things are getting intense you hear Nobara squeal in the kitchen, “GOJO LOOK!” You both break the kiss laughing, but still pressed up against him.
“I think I may know who my bet is on for tonight,” he winks and gives you another kiss, making your knees weak and release a tiny whimper into his mouth. You pray he didn’t hear it, but instead he asks, “needy daddy’s girl?”
You feel your cheeks grow so warm and cover your face with your hands. “Just kidding pretty girl, your lighter was cute though.”

some questions about jujutsu I would appreciate it if you could answer me. 1. do you think megumi and itadori are a comparison to geto and gojo? 2. What do you find most tragic about geto and gojo's relationship? 3.if geto didn't exist, who would you ship gojo with? ps; I would ship toji and gojo.
Tumblr media
Answering these out of order to hide spoilers!
3. If Geto didn't exist, I would ship Gojo with Nanami. Nanami would be bothered 600% of the time.
2.Most tragic is the fact that, while Gojo always looked at Geto's soul and accepted him unconditionally, Geto thought their relationship was over the moment he chose to leave Jujutsu High and they never reconciled this disparity while living. If you want an exhaustive list of the things that rot my brain and prevent me from remembering basic things like my childhood and the Pythagorean theorem, please, feel free to read this recently updated and ongoing list. 😭
Lastly, yes, I think ItaFushi are meant to be a parallel to SatoSugu. See below for why!
⚠️ Spoiler Warning through JJK chapter 247.
The comparison isn't perfect but I don't know that it's meant to be.
I feel like I reference Naruto a lot for having not seen it but I'm pretty sure it's a solid example of the generational failures of the Uchiha clans and the Hidden Leaf Village as overcome by Sasuke and Naruto, respectively.
I think that JJK could be a circular story (check out the Rick & Morty progression, in particular) and that SatoSugu and ItaFushi seem to run as parallels. To simplify, we'll break it up by the OG for parallels:
Tumblr media
SATORU
and Megumi (he got blue eyes when he's supposed to have green.. 💎👄💎)
Born of Jujutsu royalty with a familial technique
Familial technique damns them to a burden of responsibility. Gojo became the head of the Gojo clan, Megumi is bought and sold but effectively abdicates his place with the Zenin
When given the chance, relents to leverage the value of his cursed technique to protect others that they deem deserving. Gojo protects Megumi, Yuta and Yuji; Megumi protects Tsumiki and later, Yuji.
In spite of the above, will execute their responsibilities of a sorcerer but will also pick and choose if they will do something outside of that obligation. Think back to Megumi's moral judgement when it came to those in the detention center and Gojo's willingness to act outside of direct orders because... he could.
Just leaving the visual evidence of these little weirdos
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and Yuji
The Sun characters but not without shadow.
Blessed births, even though Yuji's was... untraditional, it forged him as a powerful vessel with inhuman strength without a heavenly restriction.
Anomalous strength. Gojo for Six Eyes and Limitless which haven't been seen together in one user in over 100 years. Yuji is able to produce Black Flashes at will and at a rate which is canonically uncommon.
Experienced death and rebirth which brought about change in them. Gojo found enlightenment; Yuji, while in hiding, experienced loss, the tragedy of which marked him noticeably.
They both know the alienation of greatness. Both undergo power ups shattering the ceiling of their previously understood power thresholds and go beyond the comprehension or without the knowledge of their counterparts. Gojo, I think, knew that it would foundationally upset something between he and Geto. Yuji probably just thinks he is getting acclimated to the new world he finds himself within and doesn't realize how insane his glow up has been.
Guilt for not being able to save someone "close to them". Gojo, obviously, with Geto and Yuji with Junpei, initially, but that list has grown. Exponentially.
Tumblr media
SUGURU
and Megumi
The Moon characters but they have something worth fighting for that gives them an air of light.
Both believe in and will act on behalf of the weak. Geto believes the strong should protect the weak and keep the strong in check. Megumi believes that if someone cannot observe the basic tenet of don't kill me, I won't kill you, he should exact punishment whether the person infringed on this basic law with him or not.
Despite their code, they still develop or have a discerning application of their morals.
But what happens when that morality is tested? Geto realizes the weak are capable of harm when he discovers the abuse of Nanako and Himiko. Megumi, if he hasn't already, will eventually come to understand that saving Yuji came at the cost of countless lives, including that of Tsumiki, in a way, even if she died by his own hand.
Know intimately the loss of someone they were close with only to find that person returned to them.. but different.
Feeling left behind by the power ups of their counterparts, they are left to their own devices. Notably, Geto spirals into depression and PTSD, Megumi, citing the difference, asks Gojo for additional lessons so he doesn't fall behind.
Doomed by the narrative? or at least by their power. Kenjaku covets Geto's body for the hold it has over Gojo and, possibly, the cursed technique that enabled him to espouse Mahito and Tengen's techniques. Sukuna covets Megumi for Ten Shadows.
Subsequently, both are possessed by something that easily outclasses them but they still are able to rebel when fighting against their counterparts. Geto's corpse strangles Kenjaku in Shibuya; Megumi manipulates how much cursed energy is output when Sukuna fights against Yuji.
Both of them recognize that, despite their counterpart's strength, they are still deserving of concern and worry. This is likely informed by the knowledge of their own weakness and inability to protect.
and Yuji
Outsiders to jujutsu society
Get their power/strength from ingesting something unholy; curses or cursed relics. Either way, both seem to beg the question of how long one can you these things before it poisons something within you?
Earnestly want to help people with a martyr mentality. The idea being, if I am the only one with this power then it's my responsibility to do something; Geto with his role as a sorcerer and Yuji as the only person who can consume Sukuna
Subsequently damned by this noble desire. Geto finds that the sacrifice is no longer palatable after the sacrifices of Riko and Haibara and the abuse of Nanako and Himiko. Yuji experiences survivors' guilt for every slight Sukuna is able to inflict while he continues to live.
A pattern of failure to protect (Riko and Junpei) followed by the loss of a companion (Haibara and Nanami, and what a way for their deaths to mirror one another...) as an impetus for great change in their characters.
The wealth of their goodness has the potential to cause just as big a vacuum of negativity when they break. Arguably this is what pushes the invisible hand that guides the events that radicalizes Geto and informs Mahito's insistence to break Yuji's soul.
Speaking of souls - this idea of their soul's in particularly. Gojo seeing and recognizing Geto's. Mahito feeling the edge of Yuji/Sukuna's soul. We see that Sukuna can aim attacks at Megumi's soul but... why did the goodness in Geto's persist for Gojo to love him unconditionally? How did Yuji's soul withstand external attacks from Mahito and internal attacks from Sukuna?

Where SatoSugu's fatal flaw was hubris, we don't see that with ItaFushi and that, perhaps, is the biggest indication that they're correcting the faults of their forebears while also suffering the repercussions of their failure.
Gege Akutami could absolutely have the whole story end in flames, don't get me wrong. I would 10,000% be invested to the very last page. There's no guarantee that this is a circular story, that any of these characters find peace or that any of them even survive but I can't help but see the similarities, at least as far these four are concerned.

Thinking about how Itadori and Fushiguro were probably never suppose to meet.
Feel free to disagree with my argument or chalk it up to me being a sad ass bitch, but it does feel like that.
Feel free to add to this post or send me an ask lol.
Why do I feel like this?
Well, I can’t pinpoint the exact reasons for why I feel this way, I can give some evidence to back it up. I know that JJK is a shonen and it was going to start with Itadori Yuji and end with or without him.
Ofc the most obvious one is Yuji’s death and path leading up to it.
(I will refer to the manga at this point if I will put anime screenshots if I just have them at hand)
Their first meeting
Tumblr media
As you can see Fushiguro was impressed by Itadori’s natural strength. Even comparing him to Maki. However that was the extent he was willing to give to a random person. A very one sided interaction.
Until
Tumblr media
This is the moment the narrative shifts for both Megumi and Yuji. Yuji carrying a curse since the beginning of their meeting (how ironic!) and Megumi is going after him. Sure it’s to retrieve Sukuna’s finger but it’s there.
For anyone who doesn’t know for some odd reason, Megumi’s name translates to Blessing hence why Toji and mama Fushiguro call him such. Yes, his name meaning is important to not only Yuji but to the major players such as Gojo.
Also we have to talk about Grandpa Itadori’s last request.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course we know now that Grandpa’s last words were a curse to Yuji. How this last request shapes Yuji as a person in the coming chapters. Another curse to add to the list of curses. (Do the note the rule of three)
Then we get the scene in the hospital after Yuji’s grandfather dies. (Abridged for time)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is when the plot finally kicks in. Yuji unknowably putting his friends in danger and Megumi has to go save them and the finger. I don’t personally count this as a curse for Yuji as it’s just the direct effect of the first curse I noted. Remember that Yuji comes in when he remembers his grandpa’s words.
Then finally we get to the final curse
Ryomen Sukuna
Itadori Yuji’s last and final curse that sealed his fate. The very thing that led him to the path he’s in. Not just him but also Fushiguro Megumi. From Shibuya to the current arc (Chapter 244-245) both of them have been by each other’s side trying their best to break this curse.
Remember, Yuji was going to be executed once he ate the first finger but due to Gojo’s interference and Megumi’s own personal feelings he was given a choice.
The first chapter really set them up to meet each other regardless of the factors that scream don’t do it/don’t follow him. Especially in hindsight, you can feel the tragedy brewing before it even begins. You somewhat know the consequences in the first chapter and it only grows worse in the second.
But that what makes a good tragedy.
Fuck you Gege you one eye cat
Now I’m gonna bring up chapter 9 for a bit because it’s history is very interesting. Gege did say that if the series didn’t do well, he will leave Yuji dead. (Ofc this didn’t happen and please help me find the source of this information. I know it was stated in an interview but I couldn’t find a translated version.)
Even then, it just solidifies my feelings.

This is the ending of the story. How it’s suppose to end.
Someone said that this seemed like a confession and I have to agree. Whether it’s romantic or platonic, Fushiguro’s feelings for Itadori are real.
Hear that?
That’s me sobbing.
With the recent chapters, it seem bleak but I believe that we will see Fushiguro again.
Yuji and Megumi will meet again maybe for the last time. I’m not Gege, but I trust him not really to give them a proper ending.

Note
One thing I get a little bit sad about is when people talk about itafushi /stsg parallels but say that it’s itadori -> gojo and megumi -> geto…like idk I feel like the narrative really suggests the opposite (itadori -> geto and megumi-> gojo)? I think that take only got popular because their outward personalities are the same lol anyway have a great day!!
YES THANK YOU you’re correct! also by their powers/stories it makes better sense as well. Geto consumes curses like how Yuuji consumes pieces of Sukuna.
Also Riko’s death is a turning point for Geto, just like how Junpei’s is for Yuji. and both Yuji and Geto “die” and are “brought back” by a curse/demon in their body (altho Geto isn’t REALLY brought back).
Megumi is also the first person charged with killing Yuji (but then he can’t do it and that’s what starts the series), just like Gojo was for Geto, when he couldn’t do it at the KFC breakup.
Megumi is the literal blessing also much like how Gojo is this gifted Honored One his whole life.
Also Geto’s defection changes Gojo in a similar way to Yuji’s “death” having a HUGE impact on Megumi.
Yuji is literally possessed by the king of curses and Geto is the strongest curse user like guys. Buds. ITS ALL THERE.
Their parallels are more in their place in the story than in personality.
