Do you have any art tips for beginner artists?

hi! i'll do my best to list the most useful ones for me from the top of my head! but if you're asking about something specific, lmk too!

always use references! this is 100% the fastest way to improve quickly! and don't forget if you're posting artworks using references, to always ask for permission if needed and to credit the reference! here's a very good post with links to various art tutorials and references :) try to do things out of your comfort zone!

i remember my sister drilling this into my head as a kid lmao: if you're going to draw people, make it a habit to draw the whole body, not just a face or bust. this way you can improve drawing the face and body at the same rate, rather than perfect the face and have like. a shoddy body HAHAHA (<- speaking from experience - my sister warned me but i still did not listen) here's an example from when i was 12 lol i went so hard on the eyes but my anatomy wasn't great so the drawing looks kind of goofy

if i'm being honest nothing has really changed even now HAHAHA you can still tell i spend too much time on the faces and neglect my anatomy studies a lot 🥲

3. don't worry too much about building a signature art style if you're a beginner! experiment and imitate art styles that you like, and it'll eventually develop into something you're comfortable with

4. speaking of art styles, Naoki Saito-sensei does very in-depth art videos for people looking to develop and improve their art, and he covers a variety of different topics! the link i provided is for his new YouTube account, since his first one was unrightfully terminated :( since it's new, there aren't a lot of videos up yet but he'll be re-uploading all his old ones soon

5. this video by tppo is also a useful tutorial/explanation for style breakdowns, using Mika Pikazo-sensei's artworks! also another good reference for building art and colouring styles

6. unless you're going for a specific art style, try not to use black colours for shading. Instead, try using a darker version of your base colour with the hue slightly adjusted. it's a little difficult to explain so i made a tiny diagram underneath:

it makes the colours pop a lot! Kurahana Chinatsu-sensei and Akiakane-sensei are really good at doing this 😭💖 that can also apply to lineart! but again, only if you're going for this kind of colourful art style :') do what feels right to you!

7. lastly try to enjoy drawing! if you do what you enjoy, learning and improving will come so much easier to you :) i can understand the urgency to improve (it's like my default state of mind 🥲) but if you keep focusing on that, drawing will eventually just start to overwhelm and frustrate you. try to combat it by doing something self-indulgent! i like to draw my ocs whenever i start getting burnt out :')

8. actually i lied this is the last one!! never give up!! it's so easy to feel bad or frustrated about your art no matter where you are in your art journey, so what i like to do to try and fight that is to look at my old art and compare the improvements! here's one of the earliest oc drawings i could find from my childhood vs my most recent oc drawing :pensive:

Short answer: I'm not really sure, while I know stuff about AI, I am quite the noob when it comes to computer hardware and how all that stuff works.

Longer answer: It has something to do with the fact that image processing tasks tend to be heavy on computers, add that to millions of computations that are happening in Glaze to try and outsmart the generative AI and it's bound to make your computer work hard.

Luckily, they introduced WebGlaze to Glaze allow you to use a GPU they provide. So you should be able to use that if you do not have a very strong computer (I haven't tested it, because I'm not an artist and I don't want to unnecessarily take up their server space, but it seems fine to me)

hello and excuse me if this was asked before, but do you think Burakh would still adopt Murky and Sticky in your modern AU, and if he would — how? because with the sort of circumstances he has in the original setting he sort of. had to. take them in. but in a modern setting i doubt a 26 year old would willingly adopt two kids who better serve as his younger sibling in terms of their age (because he should've been at the club. etc). so i suppose he would do it later but then again the question is where would he even found them. also a somewhat related question, do you have any headcanons for what their real, parent-given names would be? as i understand they most likely wouldn't be want to called them (due to trauma), but my friend personally came up with Maksim and Tanya (Tatyana) for them, and i'd like to know your thoughts on that matter.

hiii bestie no one's asked this before and i very much agree He Should Be At The Club. i think even in the canonverse he really struggles with adopting + raising the kids. i know many people love to indulge in #famly and him being a loving father and i don't disagree at all but i also thinks he Many, Many times feels like he cannot cope with that + his grief anymore etc. he loves them very much. but also he's not even 30, lost his parents, has no one to ask for help in raising kids because none of his friends are doing it, etc. Anyways this is canonverse we modern AUing in here.

first of while i think both kids would still be orphan i don't know how much of the canon circumstances i'm keeping. canonically murky's parents fell from the Sand Pest, and Sticky's iirc we just don't know, we just know he's been alone for a while. considering the Mother Dying In Childbirth thing is recurrent in orphans of the town (including like. Burakh himself. also notkin) that might be his thing. and this, for example, i'm not sure how much would be present in a modern AU. maternal mortality is still a problem, but one of the main reasons for lethal pregnancy outcomes is like. not..... pregnancy-itself-related. and as for the sand pest, while i think it still Would Be a thing in modern AU, idk how it'd pan out with modern medicine, vaccination schemes, etc, so 1) i have no idea how the two would be orphaned in a modern au 2) i don't know how it would interact with/inform their behavior towards burakh and burakh's behavior towards them. being honest i don't think about the orphans too much in the modern au. as you might have noticed. being an orphan (especially this young) in nebulous 1910s-1940s (pre-war) and being an orphan in 2020s is a Vastly different experience. even in bumfuck nowhere eurasian steppe. methinks if burakh was to take on a guardian role over the two, it would be a guardian role, closer indeed to a sibling, rather than a father. & i think more collective work would be here to help the kids navigate being orphaned. like ToG is in some ways the wild, wild west east, but in the 2020s they..... would probably have more structures and regulations for like. orphaned minors. yknow. but also. burakh should be at the club. and in modern AU, he is. he's keeping an eye on dankovsky who agreed to come with the twins and has been sulking in his corner with a migraine for 15 minutes.

also i'm so fond of real names and nicknames having auditive similarities (typically the first letter/syllable) because that's how many of them work in most languages i'm familiar with so i'm seeing Mishka have a name in M and Spichka one in S or Sh... perhaps Masha (as derivated from Maria, but no one calls her Maria, not even her own parents, because well. got one already) and Sasha or Stepan... but mostly in the Orphaning, their legal names didn't really get to stick.

What are the differences between the Wukong from Havoc in Midgard AU and the one from the original Myths? GoW is Very well know to have change a few things in Greek and Norse mythologies, so what are the ones of Monkey King in your au?

mmm overall, Wukong's story remains mostly the same! Most changes are during the Havoc in Heaven, where Loki helped him escape the Demon-Vanquishing Stand. he jumped right back into fighting Heaven however, skipping the Trigram Furnace at first.

Buddha pins him down on the Five Phases Mountain, but before he's sealed in Lao Tzi suggests trying to smolder the immortality out of him, so he's not only given molten copper and burning iron pellets, he's also effectively on fire the first 49 years of his arrest, instead of the original 49 days. (Heaven-Mortal Realm time dilation sucks, man)

also as Erland goes to burn the mountain, Loki and Angrboda rescue many of the demons and monkeys back in the cave, before warding the mountain and unleashing a dragon they had held hostage. In revenge, the dragon sank the mountain in a blizzard and a hailstorm, which beat back the fire but almost caused the mountain to crumble onto itself. Keeping the mountain in one piece burned most of Loki's cultivated power, and the wound Nezha gave him made him severely disabled for several years.

The venom he injected into Erlang Shen from his bite was enough to keep the lord in bed rest for a long time, but the risk of him using it to burn the god from the inside out kept Heaven from striking out against the beings in Huaguoshan. Overall, I kept it mostly the same because GOWverse tends to really villanize some major deities into proper antagonists that you'll feel no issue killing off gruesomely, and as a white non-Chinese person, I don't feel comfortable doing that xvx
