Y/n sighs heavily, heart beating erratically in his chest. He just finished answering a very heavy and painful phonecall from his parents—how they expressed their disappointment—but he didn't care, all he could hear during the call was the loud ringing in his ears as he tuned out their words.

He lies on his bed back at his apartment, an arm over his eyes as tears streams down his cheeks, adams apple bobbing up and down as he choke on his own sobs.

He's so tired, very tired.

Facades finally crumbling after years of pretending, it all came crashing down. He's even surprised why he didn't have a mental breakdown during the interview.

Nothing matters anymore.

What's the point of doing something so tiring?

Who even am I at this point?

Just a broken doll who longed for his parents validation to the point of destroying himself to fit their standards.

His eyes swollen, red, and puffy after he cried, the sounds of multiple notifications can be heard from his phone, he read the messages but not bothering to reply, too tired and mentally drained to do so. He then turns off his phone but before he did he caught a glimpse of his notes app, he remembered that one comment he read about making music.

He did think about it.

He did have some lyrics of his own but no melody to it, might as well call it a poem for now.

He wrote these songs a long time ago and he just forgot about it.

He sighs before turning off his phone.

Sometime later, he heard a ding on his phone and followed by the doorbell ringing on his apartment door.

He opens to see a notification from Childe and he smiles softly before eventually and also reluctantly getting out of the comfort of his bed and walked downstairs, opening it to see Childe who immediately embraced him, still holding paper bags filled with food.

"Comrade! We were worried sick and holy fuck are you crying? Omg it's worse than we thought." Childe says with worry as he pats Y/n's head, the shorter male chuckling a bit.

"Yeah, sorry for worrying you guys..." He chuckles as he avoided the ginger's gaze and Childe sighs before entering the apartment and closing the door.

"It's alright comrade, now tell me what exactly happened."

‘Show me a Great Plan’ 🥺

This particular moment from S1 of Good Omens has always been one of my favourites, with David Tennant absolutely destroying me with his usual and unparalleled expressiveness, and after the first episode of S2, it made me want to combine the two, showing, perhaps, what Crowley thinks of first when Great Plans are concerned. 🥹 Also it was a conscious decision not to just repaint a screenshot so I could hopefully avoid the million comments of ‘OMG THIS IS A PAINTING/NOT A SCREENSHOT?!’ which, don’t get me wrong, are EXTREMELY flattering, but I wanted to branch out a bit and not just be known for paintings that look like screenshots. 🙈😅

This might be my last GO piece for a while too as I’m shifting into Gay Pirates mode with the much anticipated return of OFMD! (I’ve already watched eps 1-5 twice each and I’ll be going absolutely feral until the rest come out!)

ok starting with imogen. i can't believe it's basically canon that girl's been kinda in love with laudna for so long. like i knew it but i didn't Know it and now i Know it and don't know what to Do with it except be like oh babe. i'm so happy for you for making that move. and the speed at which imogen steered the conversation to that point as soon as they were alone is so endearing, the way she was about to overflow with the need to ask that question. also marisha being like "this wasn't supposed to happen to my dead girl" and laura going "i know :( i know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯" bc sometimes the character wants what the character wants and this character wanted this so so so so so so so so bad

LAUDNA ON THE OTHER HAND.

i've seen a few other ppl say this and i certainly agree that laudna's reaction to being asked "can i kiss you" and what happened afterward is very ambiguous and i'm so curious what the Hell fuck is going on in her head now

what does it mean when someone asks if they can kiss you and you just say "ALRIGHT." like it's not an inconvenience and it wouldn't bother you so sure they can do what they want, you don't mind. it's not a "yes i want you to do that" it's a "yes i won't be upset if you do that" and those are different!! it could easily be either "i was not expecting this holy shit what do i do oh my god wait what okay wait just let her do it first and figure it out later" because laudna as we all know is romantically emotionally stunted. but also it could be "imogen wants this and what imogen wants i will give to her no matter what it is and this is an easy thing to give" which is,hmm,,,,unhealthy

and then immediately launching into like. i think i need you to be with me in order to be a good person. i think i can't separate from you without destroying myself or hating myself. and imogen going "you're not a bad person" and laudna kissing her again like she needs to Consume that in order to believe it

i'm kinda swinging between multiple interpretations of this, the first being like. laudna recognizing that imogen is showing interest and commitment to her but also coming from such a harrowing experience and needing to put that on the table first. "i don't think you realize that i'm unstable. i'm a bad person. i'm unlovable because you're the only thing keeping me from hurting everyone else." she doesn't explicitly say it but it'd be easy to see the implication of "are you sure you want this, want me?" and imogen saying with so much quiet conviction "you're not a bad person you're not a bad person" is why she kissed her again, because she needed to hear it and hearing that imogen still wants her despite her warnings makes her more confident to initiate a lil kiss or two by herself too

but there are so many other routes to take it. did she recognize that kissing is what imogen wants and therefore kissed her only as a way to say thank you for calling me a good person, almost like a reward, a purely transactional thing on laudna's part? did she not enjoy the first kiss but feel like she needed to try again to maybe convince herself to like it because imogen is so nice and wonderful and amazing that she should like it, what if not liking it makes her an even worse person? did she kiss her because she didn't know what to say in response because she didn't believe imogen's words at all and it was an easy distraction? did she just want to kiss her again so bad so she just did it?

idk maybe we're all reading way too much into this dkfjskdfjs but i think any option could be believable and i have things i like and dislike about each theory, and i love the fact that it wasn't a straightforward "omg yes please kiss me we're dating now!" bc it's so chewy and juicy and fun. if laura and marisha aren't on the next episode of 4-sided dive i MIGHT fly to LA and storm the set

anyway regardless of what's going on in laudna's head, i think it's safe to say that it's not a great sign of her general State Of Mental Health when she was kissed by her bestest bestie and STILL bor'dor and delilah were what she wanted to talk about. i think you'd have to be in a Very bad place for a reunion and a kiss with your fav person to not distract you, at least for a little bit, from talking about that stuff. how imodna's relationship changes moving forward (if at all) will be v interesting to see and i'm so so ssosososo os osos oso so os excited.

oh also before i end this post, just want to acknowledge that i'm assuming laura and marisha discussed it during the break and decided to keep it a secret from the rest of the party. i'm SURE we'll see some interesting discussions about that moving forward, both from laudna and imogen when they're alone + the rest of the party once they find out. i'm not thinking too hard about that decision, i think there are countless mundane and harmless reasons to keep it a secret for now, so i'm just gonna look forward to future eps!!

BnHA Episode 122, a.k.a. NOBUHIKO YOU'VE DONE IT AGAIN

THEY CAN'T KEEP LETTING HIM GET AWAY WITH IT!

oh my god.

so first off, let's just get the one big major criticism out of the way: this episode was definitely not up to the same high quality standards as the first third of this season. and hey, I get it! you're doing 24 episodes in all, you're on a time crunch, and you've only got so many animators to go around. and the quality of some of these earlier season 6 eps (118 and 119 especially) was seriously some of the best this series has ever had. by contrast, chapters 284 and 285, while still easily ranking among my favorite chapters of all time, definitely do not go as hard with the visuals as some of the other War arc chapters (that very last 285 page being the one standout exception).

anyway so yeah, it was still a slight disappointment, but I'm fine with it. it does mean Deku vs Kacchan 2 will still retain its crown as my all time fave, but the real meat of this episode was never going to be about the flashy visuals -- it's all about that sweet, sweet character development.

two more very minor criticisms before I get to the OMG nonstop gushing part of this post! one, they did cut out this scene from ch 282 where Tomura originally had TWO quirk-be-gone bullets in his possession and Kacchan actually destroyed the second one.

YOU THOUGHT WE WOULDN'T REMEMBER, BONES. BUT WE DID. so for everyone who is giving Kacchan his well-earned love, praise, and admiration today, don't forget to also give him props for saving Aizawa's other leg, or whichever other appendage this doubtless would have hit. my boy out here lowkey saving his sensei from being ReDestro'd.

and then one final nitpicky little quibble, which is that the anime subtitlers declined to use the "Catch-A-Kacchan" translation, despite it being the single cleverest translation of all time, and by far Caleb Cook's biggest and most important contribution to the BnHA canon. alas, twas not meant to be. BUT ANYWAY NOW ON TO THE GUSHING.

okay so first off, we all know that Aizawa is an absolute badass and the most metal motherfucker in this entire series, and that Shouto has by this point all but perfected the art of swooping in to save the day at pivotal moments, and that the U.A. kids all need ALL OF THE THERAPY GODDAMMIT, and that Deku is a COMPLETE LUNATIC who thinks that HAVING FUNCTIONAL ARMS IS OVERRATED ANYWAYS. yes and yes and yes and yes. and if you wish, you can read all about my thoughts on these things and more, here and here and here and here.

but you already know what I actually came here to talk about today.

first of all, YOU GUYS. the music. THIS FUCKING MUSIC, THOUGH. they used the exact same OST track that was used for the "why was I the one who ended All Might?" speech all the way back in DvK2. THIS IS OFFICIALLY THE "TIME FOR NOBUHIKO TO FLEX HIS VOICE ACTING CHOPS" MUSIC. A TRADITION HAS BEEN BORN.

anyway so if anyone needs me I'll just be sitting here playing this scene on repeat until the end of time. no big deal though. I can quit at any time. not like I'm obsessed with it or anything. I definitely love this scene and this character a perfectly normal amount.

All Might talking about how Katsuki understood from the get-go about how OFA was a secret that could put other people at great risk really hits hard in hindsight. especially when you realize that Katsuki really did know right from the start, and he willingly accepted that risk with no hesitation, and he absolutely did suffer consequences for it (it was his knowledge of OFA that led to him following Deku and subsequently getting involved in this battle). and I don't doubt that he has absolutely zero regrets.

okay but can we seriously just talk for a sec about the way Kacchan's anxiety is practically boiling over when he starts to ask All Might about the Fourth's cause of death?? I feel like this is one thing that kind of got overlooked at the time in the manga because we were so completely distracted by EVERY SINGLE OTHER DAMN THING IN THAT CHAPTER lol. but hearing it again here, you feel how worried he actually is about Deku, and idk why but it all of a sudden just hit me so damn hard.

"I'm worried about him. you are, too." because that truly is what this whole conversation is really about. or at least that's the driving force behind it. behind this whole episode, in fact. it's simple, when you get right down to it: Kacchan is afraid that Deku is going to die. it's literally been the biggest fear on his mind ever since Deku unlocked SIXQUIRKS. right from the start, his mind was immediately going to the worst case scenarios. he immediately deduced that OFA might have a deeper connection to AFO than any of them realized (shoutout to Kacchan for being the original "Deku is a horcrux" truther lol. ONE DAY HORIKOSHI WILL FINALLY REVEAL THE TRUTH AND PROVE US RIGHT). he instantly zeroed in on the sobering fact that all of the previous OFA users died young. and as he reveals here, he took particular notice of the fact that All Might seems to be hiding something about OFA IV's death, and he is goddamn PRESSED about it.

and I absolutely LOVE the way that Nobu voiced this part of the conversation. when he starts to question All Might, his breathing starts to pick up a little, and his voice starts to get louder, and the words start to spill out faster and faster almost like he's in a rush to get it all out, and his voice starts to crack just a little, and he goes from not looking at All Might to hesitantly, almost fearfully glancing at him from the side, and then finally turning to face him head on with his eyes all wary and his teeth gritted like he's bracing himself for the very worst (because he is).

and then he finally just asks him, "was it because you realized something?" and then he takes in this achingly hesitant little breath before finishing with, "...about One for All?" and just. the whole scene is just SO well done. like, he's seriously so fucking scared about this, though. but at the same time he just needs to know, and just. oh my god. and Nobuhiko manages to emote all of this so clearly, and that is such a difficult line to walk when you're dealing with a character like Katsuki who's always so hesitant to show his vulnerability. he has to portray these two separate layers of Bakugou at the same time -- the part of him that is trying his hardest to be nonchalant and matter-of-fact in order to hide his fears and emotions; while at the same time also portraying said emotions which are clearly seeping through anyway, regardless of his efforts.

anyway so yeah. I could talk about this for eighty years and never get sick of it honestly but let's move on.

let me tell you guys, I've been bracing myself for this scene for two full years, and it still kicked my ass. THIS SCENE HAD NO REGARD FOR HUMAN LIFE. literally RIGHT IN the feels. direct hit.

"he's always been that way." no, but guys. the regret when he says that. the way he states it with such simplicity and clarity. almost profound. this is just a truth of the world. this is just how Deku is. this is something that took him so long to understand, but now that he does, he can't fathom how he was never able to see it before. and then that ever-so-slight bitterness that creeps into his voice as he goes on to describe how he fucked it all up. ;_;

and then last but not least!!

"ijimeta." one word, in Japanese. it all comes down to that. and his voice gets so quiet. this whole last part of his speech is so quiet and so soft. but when he says this very last part, his voice wavers perfectly on that last word, and it just. sounds so resigned, somehow, but also just... almost faltering, for just a moment. you can hear the regret as clear as day, but you also hear the fear once again as he finally reveals this fact -- literally his biggest shame; the worst thing that he's ever done -- to All Might. his hero. just, damn.

anyway. so needless to say, despite my expectations being SKY HIGH, this scene absolutely met all of them and blew me away. as expected from the best fucking voice actor in Japan, according to me, a single lone person, whose subjective opinion is absolutely definitely not biased in any possible way.

back to the action! and Nobu getting to do his very best Deku impression lol.

can you believe this kid. one single nerdy analysis speech was all it took for him to start emitting such powerful Main Character Energy that even Endeavor got taken in and was just automatically following orders lol.

awesome choice of music here while Deku and Tomura continued to battle and Bakugou laid out his plan. you know it's good when they still manage to make you feel the tension even though this is basically just a generic action scene, and you additionally already know exactly what's going to happen.

I have no idea why, but that part with Deku's "Kacchan... my 'Deku' means 'you can do it!'" speech juxtaposed against the image of him going all out against Tomura with such fierce determination hit me like 100x harder than it did in the manga. I was NOT expecting that to be as powerful as it was. damn near gave me chills.

literally the only time I've ever been on board with the whole "FUCK YEAH, I'LL JUST BREAK ALL MY BONES AT YOU!!" deal lol. it literally makes no goddamn sense but this scene is just so raw.

THEN WE YEET THE ENDEAVOR!!!!

SO ON-BRAND. NO DEKU-INSPIRED PLAN IS EVER TRULY COMPLETE WITHOUT A GOOD YEETING.

and then the next few moments are some of the most legitimately unsettling of the entire series, as we have Tomura screaming at the top of his lungs while being burnt to cinders (and I mean, I love Tomura dearly, but I get it; he literally just Thanos'd tens of thousands of innocent people), followed by AFO's creepy fucking ghost hand reaching out all "LEND ME YOUR BODY~~~" which is a scene that absolutely NO ONE ASKED FOR but okay.

but then right afterwards though! when AFO finally did take over, and you hear that "TV shutting down" sound effect all of a sudden? and then the next few scenes with all the BKDK flashbacks are also weirdly TV-themed? I could not for the life of me figure this out at first, but now I'm actually thinking it could be a reference to the chapter 306 color page?

OR MAYBE NOT? I actually have no idea. anyway though it may have been random af but it worked for me, what can I say.

AND THEN THE MOMENT OF TRUTH AT LONG LAST.

THIS ACTUALLY IS SO PRETTY THOUGH?? LIKE I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT COLOR COMBINATION AT ALL?

AND IT HAPPENS SO QUICKLY!!!!??? YOU BARELY EVEN HAVE TIME TO BLINK?!?!!

oh. my. god.

THE WAY THE MUSIC SUDDENLY GOT QUIET. THE WAY HIS NARRATING VOICE CAME ON AND, PRAISE EVERYTHING, IT REALLY WAS DEEPER. THAT REALLY WAS THE ADULT HIM. SAME AS DEKU. MY FEELINGS ABOUT THIS ARE SO FUCKING MUCH RIGHT NOW.

AND THEN THE FLASHBACKS!! THE SCENES OF THEM IN MIDDLE SCHOOL!! AND GROUND ZERO!! AND THEN CUTTING TO THE TWO OF THEM AS LITTLE BABIES, AND THE TV SCREEN ALL OF A SUDDEN SWITCHING TO COLOR??? AND THE HANDS??? THE REACHING?!?!

AND THEN?!?!?!

"HEY MAKESTE, IF WE GO AHEAD AND ACTUALLY MAKE THE VOLUME 29 COVER CANON, WILL YOU FINALLY FORGIVE US FOR ALL OF THE HALF-BAKED PAINFULLY OOC FILLER EPISODES AND OVAS?" WELL, STUDIO BONES, YOU DRIVE A HARD BARGAIN, BUT HOW CAN I POSSIBLY REFUSE.

AND THEN THEY FULL ON MURDERED ME!!!!!

that's right bitches. DREAD IT. RUN FROM IT. THE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT ARRIVES ALL THE SAME.

holy shit. and then THE END CREDITS oh my freaking heart. words can't even describe.

Studio Bones out here not resting until they've succeeded in making EVERY SINGLE PERSON feel the MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF SADNESS THAT A HUMAN BEING CAN SUSTAIN. their callousness truly knows no bounds.

Rewatching ep.30 of Love Between Fairy and Devil and blogging my reaction

(because I guess I want you to suffer with me?)

What is that feeling called when you miss something, but at the same time you are fully aware it's going to break your heart to pieces?

Well, that's what I am feeling now as I am starting this episode. And yes, I use sarcasm and silly humor, that will definitely not make you laugh, to deal with my emotions, so consider yourself warned.

So the episode begins with Xiao Lanhua looking at fabrics for her wedding dress. Imagine watching this for the first time and thinking "we are definitely getting a happy wedding, everything will be OK"

DFQC is sitting by her side as she is sleeping – which is the cutest thing ever – but she has a sort of nightmare with Chidi. She tells her that only one of them can survive. When she wakes up, DFQC is so worried. I am struggling inside, because I want him to tell her all about the bracelet. I know he can’t and that there would be no sense in doing so, but I just hate that he is keeping her in the dark.

Aaaand that’s the moment the evil Qi enters DFQC through his eyes.

DFQC is waving his sword against Tai Sui (he mainly strikes the air around him) and all I can think is how HOT he is while doing so.

I would never imagine while watching the first episodes that there would come a time when Xiao Lanhua would tell Changheng that meeting her is inappropriate and ask him to leave.

He would have been a teen spy slash policeman for the international police but like he experienced some. Things again. As seen by me keeping his scars and now as an adult I feel he is a cop in unova now... as for town slash city ? I don't fucking know yet like either castelia or nimbasa...

I do not know what region he'd be from being honest. The simplest would be unova, but I kind of lean towards a region from gen 4 bc of his teen design inspo being the psychic class trainers from gen 4... so either johto or sinnoh... not really sure

But anyways he used to be a psychic type trainer and extremely powerful with his psychic abilities in the sense that his emotions could destroy shit like think of Sabrina and caitlin how Sabrina has power limiters on and caitlin used to throw bitch fits when she'd lose a battle and I think that's Jake... he prolly sucked ass and was a disappointment to his parents or dad and would have meltdowns and break shit w his powers when upset #his telekinetis throws everything across the room moment

Anyways I think as an adult he'd grow to be able to control himself better at least no more psychic tantrums but still good ol being pissed off !! I think he'd switch to be a fairy type trainer and has remnants of his psychic past in his team slash design... I think he's a gym leader or maybe I could be nice and make him a frontier brain... but for now I see him as a fairy type gym leader with a clefable and mimikyu on his team and potentially hatterene grimmsnarl ?? I still have to decide on that

I like his design being more showy, I mean he was posing that one ep talkn abt model and I like to think he's canonically good looking Plus Paldean gym leaders have professions and so do unova ones etc.. Okay but now I'm imagining an alternate version of Hollow Sorrows where Moloch has already fled in the Ouija Board when Father Gregor arrives at Lila's house, so Skid and Pump try to scare him off themselves and. fail at it kdjnksjn

They ultimately end up hiding the ouija board in Skid's room because they don't want to chance Gregor finding it and taking it, and right before Gregor checks Skid's room, Lila comes home

OHH OMG ur a genius for this actually,, I never considered alternate timeline-ing the eps but I love that idea pff (and now I'm getting more ideas)

BUT YEAH!! It's the whole chase sequence from Hollow Sorrows minus the random possessions but let's be fr Moloch would still end up destroying a few things in his path,, he's a pretty bulky and strong guy after all (RIP Pelo he still gets crushed under the Candy Club wall)

Also in that one scene where Moloch's like 'let me hide in your bodies', instead it's Skid and Pump (while being aware of Moloch's ability to possess people) suggesting he possesses them. But Moloch refuses because he doesn't want to hurt the boys. With Gregor closing in he gets desperate and runs for the Ouija Board. Skid follows Moloch and grabs the Ouija Board while Pump stays behind to distract Gregor til Skid gets back to join him and the sequence goes as you say.

I can just imagine Lila getting pissed that Gregor tried to break in and look through her shit while being completely unaware of the situation, but this would still end in Gregor scolding Lila for being irresponsible and leaving her son in the care of a demon while she was out drinking. (Though I imagine Lila still left Skid with the Wonder's. In this instance, Skid and Pump probably left to grab the Ouija Board and summon Moloch and maybe they went out looking for Bob on the way too? I'm still tryna figure out if Bob is dead or alive at this point in the AU but I'm leaning toward him being alive,, Except he'd prolly be at work and unable look after the kids pff)

tbh I'm mostly shaking about the next ep and impending season finale, but this one was still pretty brutal

firstly, the goofs. vash fucking SNEESING and getting ruthlessly bullied by wolfwood is pretty much in spirit of their relationship in 98' anime and I'd love to see more of it (pls I hope there'll be a season 2)

scar reveal! I was afraid they're gonna give him a glow up and yeah, some scars are barely visible, but the other ones look awful. so, everything I hoped for, good to see he's in pain /j. also nico tried so hard not to stare at shirtless vash... he's looking away respectfully

vash is such a wet cat pathetic paperbag of a guy... just let that guy take a shot, barely flinched, took the bullet 'cause he thinks he deserved it. didn't even think of attending the wound until wolfwood said so. and, mind you, vash doesn't have any superhuman abilities so that must've hurt like hell

nico's job is so funny because to keep vash safe he has to get into mega epic fights, but also remind that idiot to eat and take care of wounds. again, vashwood duo feels more like the original now, after the sandsteamer. I think nico actualy started caring about vash since he saved the orphanage, it's great to see him conflicted with his mission

also policemen from ep 1 and the guy who shot vash are like... second best side characters in stampede and this is not a compliment. the best ones are nomads who ate worms btw

oh meryl, she's gonna girlboss so hard now... woe to all the haters and naysayers, she's getting character development and faces the same conflict as vash and nico thus gaining more narrative significance!! don't get me wrong, manga and 98' anime meryl was a crucial character, but she's getting much more freedom in stampede to develop and get into action

the moment where she gets up during wolfwood voiceover is when we start to see the "iron lady" and I'm so here for it! now we just have to wait for her designated therapy dog girlfriend to appear and when I can be at peace

and the words that he says to vash hurt so much more because it's true. he does love humans, but the main thing driving him is guilt. in stampede, more than ever, vash blames himself for pretty much all human suffering, because he helped the great fall happen. no wonder he's so depressed and not nearly as goofy! homeboy doesn't just protect the lives rem saved, his pacifistic quest is penance for all the people he (thinks he) killed

okay i binge watched up until midway through ep 14, where i am now taking a rage-break from the show:

im sure im in the minority, but kavin/kaning does nothing for me. that said i do like the scenes where he helps out at the flower shop

uncle ga is my mvp for this drama, btw. this man is me anytime im watching a high school drama

thyme's actor is so charismatic and charming that even when he's doing horrible shit (like destroying that classroom) him/the writing still manages to win you over and oh no

i like ren more now! turns out he just needed to get dumped after a dramatic relocation to france i guess.

the lita arc went on way too damn long. it was interesting at first but by the end i was tapping my watch waiting for it to get a move on. the maid shit was also weird and i was not into that (although at least the staff were a cute little squad for gorya!)

talay arc also went on too long, and tbh thyme should probably go to jail for a bit. but i get what they were trying to do. also 95% of the characters should probably go to jail for a little bit, so

Relating to episode 11, what's so interesting to me about Meryl and Roberto becoming flowers in Vash's "memory"... Is that Wolfwood (imma call him Nick from now on) turned into Nai... lolololol which I don't think is a good thing for Nick rn

TLDR: Meryl and Roberto became flowers because they were/are connections Vash has already begun to see as more genuine and meaningful - people who see and accept Vash as he is.

Whereas Nick is someone Vash was helping and reminds him, at times, a little too much of Knives (but was also inevitably grateful for in Ep. 12).

So, from my understanding, Meryl and Roberto were just random people in the beginning, right? Their initial relationship with Vash is built on an exchange between them: Vash tells them his story and avoids the police while Meryl and Roberto got a good story.

You start to see a bit of a shift when Meryl, specifically, starts helping Vash and defying Roberto’s warnings to remain a bystander/witness. I.e. She gives Vash a bullet. She helps him escape. She stands up for him. 

She is the only one after Knives destroys Jenorah to go after Vash. 

Maybe it's not super personal but all those moments, they matter. Anyway... fast forward to when Meryl and Roberto learn Vash isn't human but still come back and then discover that Vash is a plant.

Now, we - the viewer - saw that Meryl's stated reason to rejoin Vash was to get more dirt on him but from Vash’s POV… think about it. He’s not expecting to see them again (that comment that he and them aren’t that close?? While true-ish [what does it mean to be "close" to Vash who's been alone for so long??], it could also be distancing language he’s using to protect himself - we already know he’s dealt with trauma, etc).

But Vash does see them again, only a short time later. 

And not only did Meryl and Roberto return on their own volition (when they didn't need Vash anymore, after all, Roberto stated they already had enough for their articles...) they then helped Vash on their own accord on the sand steamer (even after we see Roberto ready to walk away several times, justifiably concerned for his own wellbeing). And to add to it, Vash’s last time seeing Meryl and Roberto before July, is after they’ve learned he’s a plant. 

Their reunion at Home appeared a little short lived thanks to wormie but when they saw him (especially Meryl) they were happy to see he was okay and Vash, too, appeared happy they were okay. 

All of this is to say that I think that’s why they appeared in his memories at all - he was starting to see them as friends, as people he cared for not solely because he’s a pacifist with a lot of guilt, shame and a savior complex, but because omg these people returned?? They might actually care?? What is this feeling... is it... hope?? Connection?!?!?!

It’s one thing to appreciate someone who's helped you, especially when it's mutually beneficial. It’s another thing entirely to return to someone when the person you’re returning to has only caused you trouble, which... bro Vash is the humanoid typhoon 🤣🤣 he's "caused" them all hell but Meryl and Roberto kept coming back to his side and turning around to help Vash.  

Now… I’m probably gonna get some shit for this but… I don’t think Vash saw Nick as a friend, at least not before Ep. 12. 

I think there’s a big reason that in the "memory" Nick didn’t turn into flowers but morphed into Nai. We know Vash is sus of Nick from their conversation on the sand steamer. We see him challenge Nick on the sand steamer and ask him why he's following Vash - also the shots with them on the rail show a lot of physical distance, which matters. Imma get shot for saying this but I think the “sexual” tension between Nick and Vash on the sand steamer… isn’t sexual tension. I think it’s Nick giving Vash hope that Nai too can be better. I think Vash sees a lot of similarities between the two and wants to believe in them both. And when he sees Nick lean toward his way of thinking during the sand ship crisis (trusting in Vash and helping Vash to save the people on the ship and Hopeland), I think Vash is both genuinely happy to see that growth for Nick because he believes that to be the best path but also because VASH ISN’T DUMB LOL. YES HE’S GOOFY AS FUCK but hear me out... Something that’s bothered me so much and I think I've finally pieced together was how quiet Vash is in Stampede. 

In the ‘98 anime he talked a lot more. His character was portrayed differently - obviously - but now I think I understand another reason why… It’s class clown survival tactic 101. What do you do to distract from the fact that you’re not like everyone else but you still want to be liked, still want to blend in? You make them laugh. 

Other's have talked about this so I'll try not to belabor it but... of course Vash wanted to be liked and accepted by the humans. And of course... he would act in a manner so as to not cause them to distrust him. Aka - sweet, demure, helpful, goofy, etc.

Vash’s character is goofy as a defense mechanism. He is also quiet as a defense here. He is forthcoming about certain things in Stampede (ex. him immediately telling everyone Nai is the big baddy) but he’s not nearly the same conversationalist in Stampede that he was in the prior anime and movie, etc. 

There are a number of benefits people reap from being the funny guy that I don’t need to rehash here but what I’m saying is… Vash in Stampede 100% knew that Nick wasn't hanging around him for noble causes (he calls Nick out for it on the deck). And he definitely knows Nick isn’t there to be his be his friend - GUYS LOL NICK TELLS VASH TO THINK OF HIM LIKE A BROTHER... WHO IS VASH'S REAL BRO??? NAI. YOU THINK THAT DIALOGUE WAS JUST MEANT TO BE CHEEKY?? Nah 🤣🤣 Vash knows Nick is involved with his real bro, especially after the sand steamer when it's made very obvious that Nick knows Livio… who also conveniently has a similar dress to Nick and similar odd "enhancements" as several of the other people who have attacked Vash, that Vash knows his brother sent after him?? Come on... 

Vash is smart and plays dumb.

Think about the first few episodes... He stops a shit ton of bombs with a single bullet by shattering a rock and etc. He puts a red cape on an animal to try and escape knowing that that's what people will look for. He fakes sleeping to hear conversations. He notices details. This boy pays attention and the goofiness is meant to distract from that because nothing freaks people out more than thinking they are being watched/doesn't make him very non-threatening. Vash fucking knew Nick wasn’t his buddy or, at the very least, he was aware that Nick wasn't acting totally out of altruism. 

Vash even said as much when he was shirtless. But that’s the thing about distractions… lol you see a shirtless Vash and then gloss over the part where Nick says wow you figured me out. Vash knew that Nick was hanging around him because Nick needed something from Vash and Vash admits, he can't stop himself from helping someone in a tight spot.

Roberto pieces it together a few scenes later. You really think Vash didn’t just because he’s keeping his cards close to his chest? Nah you trippin lol Vash says it. He can’t abandon people in a tight spot, which includes Nick. And the cherry on top of it all?? They are in Nai's lair or whatever and Nick has a casual, familiar interaction with Elendira. Two seconds later it shows Vash talking to her meaning... VASH SAW THE WHOLE EXCHANGE LOL you really think he's not like "ah this makes sense... strange man with a cross who is conspicuously similar to a lot of the people Nai has sent after me leading me to Nai also knows Nai's cloned child? Yup, this checks; he's working with Nai to get me."

Nick doesn’t disappear into roses because Vash doesn’t consider him someone who cares about him as he is. I'm not saying that Nick can't or won't fix that later (Ep. 12 was a good start)... But I am saying that imagery matters lol so too does the placement of the memory. Nick was remembered for killing and was an earlier memory... meaning it was less significant to Vash and likely not a positive one. Not only that but… He turned into Nai at the end because Nick reminds Vash of Nai, and not always in a good way. 

But those red flowers?? The ones we know Vash loves and remind him of his only source of solace and strength to go on?? Meryl and Roberto may not have been his besties or anything (yet) but… they already meant something to Vash. Nick has some catching up to do in the next season LOLOLOL The point is... Nick still needs to win over Babygirl and I’m sure he will. I’m super excited to see what they’ll do with Nick now that his “contract” has been fulfilled!!

I honestly don’t understand why everyone is so obsessed with Elinor.

Like, we get it, she’s hot and badass or whatever, but she also emotionally manipulated and ruined Oliver’s entire life because she “felt like it.” She tried to force Juliette to drain Calliope (literally manhandled her sister and forced Calliope’s blood into her mouth), she guilt-tripped Juliette and tried to get her to kill an innocent woman and manipulated her into getting super drunk and killing a random guy when she knew that Juliette didn’t want to.

And before someone comes at me like ‘well Oliver did the same thing with Ashley’ - no, he didn’t. He killed her in the hopes that Juliette would give into instinct to help her, he didn’t try to force her to do anything, let alone manhandle her or put smear into her mouth against her will.

Adding on to what Elinor did to Juliette, she did a lot of gaslighting and guilt-tripping, made everything all about herself, and constantly told Juliette that she had to do something because otherwise Elinor’s future - not Juliette’s - would be in jeopardy. She also clearly threatened Ben’s life on multiple occasions (Juliette's best friend since childhood!) and trashed the pills that Juliette needed to feel even remotely okay. That’s like taking someone who has a broken arm’s cast away.

There are more instances of Elinor pulling the strings to her own favor in Juliette's life as well, you just need to pay attention while watching.

She also manipulated her parents into believing that Oliver was evil, causing them to literally banish and shun him for years. We got flashbacks and mentions of how she coerced Oliver into killing his pet turtle, Mr. Green, and manipulated him into killing their therapist, telling him that if he just drank from her, he'd never feel bad again (notice that she did similar things with Juliette.)

Again, she didn't have to do any of this - Oliver isn't even a part of the matriarchy, he was no threat to her or to her power. She simply 'felt like it.'

From the age of two, she 'just felt like' ruining her innocent twin's life. Even after Oliver's return in eps 3-4, she was still trying to manipulate Sebastian and Margot into thinking that he was evil. When she and Margot were driving to get Oliver - who had literally just been tortured - from the Burns, she kept trying to convince Margot that he was evil, that he was a psychopath, and got very frustrated and angry when Margot ignored her.

And even after destroying her brother’s life, that still wasn’t enough for her - she wants power so badly that she’ll ruin, manipulate, twist, hurt, and/or kill anyone in her way, no matter who they are.

That doesn’t make her a ‘hot power queen omg slay,’ it makes her a manipulative, power-hungry, murderous, abusive bitch.

Edit: a lot of people I've seen online have been saying that Oliver is just as psycho as Elinor is, and that they're both the same levels of evil.

I'd like to say that I don't believe that this is true, simply because it's pretty obvious that while Oliver is definitely seeking revenge in an insanely over-the-top fashion (by a human standpoint) we have to remember that psychopaths are people who show little to no emotion.

The only time that we've really seen Elinor show emotion is for Sebastian, her father, or when she is losing the power that she has. However, we've seen Oliver show emotion on multiple occasions - he talks about love, he's open with Carmen, he trauma-dumps to Talia while tied up in her basement, comforts Juliette when she comes to him, and openly sobs when confronted by his parents. We can see that he has a lot of deep, emotional layers, that he buries and hides to keep himself safe from the world.

And how sad is that? That he was manipulated so badly at such a young age by the person who was supposed to always be there for him, his twin sister, that he has to hide all of his true feelings to protect himself.
