It's so funny how I created Bela exclusively to be Webby's dead mum but, now that she's developed on her own, her turning out NOT to be is the route that makes the most sense for her.

Not sure if this is a theory outside of the discord chat but I might have mentioned something about how Ted could have become Wilbur and if not then here is pretty much the origin
Tumblr media
But what about Miss Holloway? I definitely don't think that's canon (neither is the theory above) but what if there was a way to save Jenny? Webby can help citizens, that we already know. And seeing Jenny suffer for no reason could make the spider sympathetic towards her, perhaps enough that she attempts to save the poor girl. She gets Jenny away from 2004 and from her death, maybe teaches her how to protect herself. And who knows, maybe Jenny already had powers to begin with? Maybe that's why she was drawn to Ted and befriended him? Because he is different as well, he’s the Time Bastard. There's no proof of course, but I think it’s a cool theory considering we (I think) don't know Jenny’s last name and Miss Holloway’s first. And they are played by the same person. But assuming this is real, imagine how much more dramatic and emotional would be the first time Miss Holloway comes across Wilbur.
So excuse me while I go on a side tangent but (I saw someone else talking about this, I'll gladly link the post since I'm not going that in-depth with the concept here) Wilbur’s thing is, or rather isn't, forgiveness. Wilbur and Linda remember the past mistakes and often come back to it to hurt others.
Tumblr media
Tom and Becky on the other hand forgive and forget. So that also adds to my Ted = Wilbur “theory”. Because Ted’s thing is also remembering the past. And lack of understanding at times. Just like he dismisses Henry who’s trying to open up about his past (the wedding scene in TB) he, despite clearly liking Paul, often impulsively belittles him after Paul makes some sort of “mistake”. I mean, he's not too harsh sure, mostly just things like “you’re useless” or “you noodle” but I'm really trying to make an obviously fake theory seem a bit real here so bear with me. Now imagine what spending so many years seeing yourself become a monster could do to you. Ted is a self aware person (id say he’s too hard on himself-) so working for Wiggly would definitely take a toll on him. Even if he’s “evil” now, he’s not completely out of it. He knows what he had become. That would make him surely more bitter and cruel. Because it's all his fault and there's no turning back. He doesn't deserve another chance and he's not getting it. So why should others have it better? Why should Goodman? And if there's no turning back then why not go further? Not like there's a lot of choice now, Wiggly is ruthless and will get just what he wants. And Wiggly wants him to do all those awful things.
So now that in done with my “little” ramble I’d like to get back to Jenny. Well, not exactly only Jenny but overall what would her being Miss Holloway add/change in the universe. Firstly, whatever relationship her and Duke have, it would pretty much fit the criteria. Both Charlotte and Lucy have “stable” relationships. But whenever the action really happens their partners are left in a different place. Who both women are with is Ted. Just like Jon was in a different country and Sam was at his job, Duke is left in the real world when Miss Holloway goes to battle Wilbur. Also the angst potential of both Willoway and Ted x Jenny is incredible. What if Ted/Wilbur doesn't fight Jenny/Holloway the first few times just like he didn't fight Charlotte when she was infected and then when Wiggly commands him to, he kills her accidentally? Or maybe he doesn't know she’s Jenny and he finds out after he killed her? Or imagine how Jenny would feel when Webby would finally tell her that her enemy, the man she had sworn to destroy, is her best friend from many many years ago? Would she talk to him? Or attempt to ‘rescue’ him from under Wiggly’s control? The possibilities are endless, really. I might write a fanfiction about it one day but for now I leave you with this fake theory

So, why exactly could Della not go home with Webby at the end of Golden Spear? Was there not enough room in the ship for both of them meaning Della had to sacrifice her spot to Webby?
Why Della Decided To Do This: She didn’t entirely trust the Moonlanders with the plans but she wanted to get Webby home to earth ASAP. And if they weren’t a threat she figured that she could stay behind and help them build more Spear’s easier sense she knew how to build them better.
Why I Decided To Have Della Do This: I’m mean and thought it could have good angst potential. And also thought it would be interesting for Della to sacrifice herself for Webby, and then for Webby to show up at McDuck Manor like “Yeah you’re mom/sister/niece is alive but she gave up her chance to see you all sooner for me, sorry!”

Webby & Penny’s Heart To Heart
For most of my life I stayed in the mansion and studied. I was Webby, expert on all things McDuck, but then I left. Got out into the world. And the world was big. I didn’t really fit in, or know where to start. Sometimes I wished I could go back to the mansion, where I knew exactly who I was, but the guys, my family, showed me new and amazing and wonderful things!
Tumblr media
As funny as They Put A Moonlander On Earth was, Webby’s heart to heart with Penny was easily my favorite moment in the entire episode. We got an introspective on how far Webby has come socially as a person. Webbigail isn’t the same kid she used to be in Season 1, as someone of social solitude, sharpening that area of how this kid handles people in general. Although, what hasn’t changed is what has always been her best quality. Webby’s faith and optimism in seeing the best in people, as seen with Lena countless times, where she resonates with Penny’s alienation because she’s been there too at one point. Not knowing if she’ll ever adjust to a new environment, leading to doubts about if she was better off in staying inside the mansion with Beakly & Scrooge again, which has long since evolved from there. Webby is the optimistic glue that holds others together, be it family, friends, or even simple acquaintances, too.
Season 3′s mission is highly evident in how much they want to nail that home of Webby’s optimism being an important key thing that has helped many others. It’s certainly helped Beakly come outta her shell in bonding with Launchpad of all people, who was someone that woman had little tolerance for, overall. If Webby hadn’t given her granny that social nudge, I doubt Beakly would be making much of any effort to try getting to know that lovable oaf better in Friendship Hates Magic. It’s gonna be painful seeing how they spin this moment into a dramatic angst punchline when Beakly’s baggage she’s hiding from Webby is finally brought to light. That will shake said unwavering faith in something Webby values most of all, parental trust & respect in her coolest granny. Vanderquack’s development has me very interested in seeing what lengths they’ll go to not only challenge her ideals, but how extreme those actions will be to crush it. I’m predicting another Last Crash worst case scenario for whatever fate awaits Beakly & Webby’s connection to each other and how far back it really goes before any events of Season 1 ever took place with these secrets.
Tumblr media
They Put A Moonlander On Earth is good groundwork for the storm yet to come that’ll make seeing Webby’s optimism get challenged all the more heartbreaking, since this duck’s determination in seeing the greener side of things has been what makes her a lovable inspiration toward the wide array of characters here. That’s why Penny was able to come outta her shell not just because of Webby’s baggage, which ties in easily to her existential social situation of being far away from her home, Tranquility, but this Moonlander also has that same optimism buried underneath that stubborn warrior pride. Penny did see the best in Della after all as an individual, who Lunaris simply saw as tool for a means to his own ends when first encountering her back in Season 2. Why else would Penny take Webby up on her offer to eat a hamburger as a cool callback to that first thing she wanted cross off her to-do-list in the outside world in Woo-oo? There was a clear connection of potential to be explored between these two characters and I’m pleased with what we got outta this moment. It can be referred to for past, present, and most importantly future context of Season 3′s later events that will add more layers to this scene, no doubt. Needless to say, I loved this moment.
It was an all around very funny, adorable, and had heart underneath it all. Much like Penny’s entire characterization in a nutshell. ;)

Have anything else for that Team Spyience au you made ages ago? Some writng or a bullet list? I crave angst.
The AU in question
Yes!! Aaaaahh i was so excited when I saw this ask because i’m so happy people still like it!! I’m definitely still thinking about it, don’t worry. The old AU hinges on the fact that FOWL doesn’t have a way into Scrooge’s company and family but uhhhh that’s not how it is now lmao. So I’ve been thinking about revamping it for a couple months now. I don’t want to do anything concrete until we know a little more about FOWL and how it works. We know who its agents are and a little bit about its goals but we really don’t know anything about its inner workings, what the Board’s dynamic is with their agents, what their dynamic is with modern SHUSH (if it even exists), etc etc. all of which are things that would probably be addressed in the Team Spyience AU! It is an AU but I’d like to build on canon as much as possible (unless there’s something that I really don’t vibe with) since it’ll be cleaner and less confusing that way. Like if I threw 2019 Team Spyience AU at you guys rn it would 1) be confusing since the FOWL structure and motives are completely different from canon and 2) be less interesting since there’s SO much potential for angst and drama with the Board, Rockerduck/Jeeves, and Gandra as part of FOWL. (and oh boy I’m so excited to work with that!!!)
(sorry for that long block of text sdfgfds i wasn’t sure how to break it up)
that being said I have built a bit of a shaky foundation for a redone Team Spyience AU for when we learn more!! and ahhh i’m so excited to share. For bullet points, here are some ideas swimming around in my head. these all could change with new information from the show or just if i think of something better tbh
so this might change when we learn more about the Board in general and the nitty-gritty of FOWL’s plans, but right now I’m thinking that the Board realizes that 1) Gyro and his ragtag band of science nerds are powerful and stubborn, and will most definitely get in the way of their plans 2) Gyro already hates the Board, and if anyone in McDuck Enterprises were to pick up on their treason, it would be him 3) They have a strong foothold for control in the company, second only to Scrooge (and even that’s debatable), but they have minimal control over Gyro and the science department. So this time around it’s less about needing to spy on Scrooge and more about wanting to control Gyro and Team Science. how that translates to “capturing them and forcing them to spy on their boss and his family” is still up in the air, but i’ll let you guys know when i figure it out! (and if you all have any ideas lmk)
we all know Gyro dislikes the Board but it’s mostly just annoyance/spite since they always shut down his inventions. Here, though, he would hate them. He would probably start like smack-talking them to everyone he can, especially Scrooge, which is his own way of trying to get them to realize the Board is evil without tipping the Board off to his treachery. Scrooge would be confused and it would be like the first crack in the Board’s carefully built facade, but it wouldn’t work for him. He probably just thinks Gyro’s being his mean self.
Huey, though... I’m pretty sure Huey’s gonna end up researching FOWL since it’s his season, and he spends enough time around Team Science to notice how off they’re all acting, without being too busy to pay it much mind (like Scrooge). so one of Gyro’s snarky remarks will tip him off, and he’ll start to view the Board with a little more suspicion each time. Until he comes to the conclusion through his research, and SHUSH resources like Beakley and Webby, that oh god that was an allusion to FOWL the Board is FOWL-
and then- wait is Gyro FOWL?? is Team Science okay?? this goes deeper than I thought-
so essentially the B-plot of this AU is Huey (with the help of the rest of the kids, but especially Webby, Boyd, and Violet) researching FOWL in the background and trying to figure out why Team Science is acting so weird lately, and there’s a lot of dramatic irony
FOWL definitely threatens Boyd to get to Gyro because I love me some quality Boyd & Gyro family content 😌
I originally thought about working a “Gyro is a former FOWL agent that got away by the skin of his teeth” aspect into the AU since I was really fond of that concept when it was a theory, but now it’s been disproven. It does make for a lot of extra drama and angst, but I don’t think it quite fits, so I might just make that an entirely separate AU. I might add some non-canon bonus content with this concept though!
The majority of Team Science’s dynamic throughout the AU stays the same - they’re all incredibly stressed and on edge and just in a really sticky situation, so they snap at each other and have a lot of petty arguments. But at the same time, they’re all in the really sticky situation together, and so they come out of this mess a whole lot closer. It’s sort of a “You’re the only ones I can be honest with without dire consequences” situation.
also re: that last point - CUDDLE PUDDLES. i’m so soft for them. i’m thinking maybe on a night when FOWL makes them all stay in the cells overnight as a punishment or smth, but they’re all in one cell, they just fall asleep all on top of each other and it’s just a really sweet moment made bittersweet by the circumstances. it’s also a testament to how far their relationship has come under pressure and how much they trust each other now.
Gyro is the only target originally (I’m thinking maybe Fenton, Manny, and Lil’ Bulb catch the Board in the act and it’s very dramatic and terrifying. i think they’re originally gonna kill Team Science, since FOWL has a very take-no-prisoners leave-no-loose-ends sort of mindset, but Gyro convinces the Board that the majority of Scrooge McDuck’s research team mysteriously dying in one fell swoop would be extremely suspicious, especially since Scrooge has an in-house former SHUSH agent. so they live, miraculously, but the Board lets all of them know in no uncertain terms that if it happens again, the other person dies. No ifs, ands, or buts. So Team Science is all very, very nervous and careful about what they let slip. They want to tell everyone, especially Scrooge, but they can’t because they care too much. (Hence Gyro making passive-aggressive comments about the Board to Scrooge.) and of course everyone else gets suspicious and resentful since they know Team Science is hiding stuff from them. so that leads to a lot of drama and arguments.
speaking of the drama and arguments from the outside, the kids are doing their own investigation, but I headcanon Della as friends with Gyro from before the Spear of Selene, and she has a budding friendship with Fenton too. So she’d notice they’re all acting really weird and bailing on all her plans, so she storms down to the lab and tries an aggressive tactic to get them to fess up. They don’t, obviously, so she goes on a little investigation of her own. I’m thinking she might drag Launchpad and Donald into it - Launchpad since he’s good friends with Team Science, and Donald because I love him and I want him involved they’re the Duck Twins and they work best together.
I have this scene floating around in my head where, in the very beginning, FOWL agents/Eggheads capture Gyro and drag him to FOWL HQ underneath Funzo’s to be briefed on his new situation. He’s stuck in one of those glass cells Launchpad and Dewey were in when Steelbeak brought them back in the Double-O-Duck episode. The Board knows he’s there, but Gyro has no clue they’re villains. So they come to the cell to brief and belittle him (let’s be honest here, they’ve never liked Gyro) and he just. He’s pissed. Spitting mad. He’s always resented the Board but never like this; never pictured them as actual powerful villains. He may be spiteful of them because they shut down his projects, but at the end of the day, they’re good guys. They’re on his side, and more importantly, Scrooge’s side. Right?
So Gyro is like, up against the glass, trying to punch them through the airholes. He’s just so fucking furious. He’s not really thinking straight and he doesn’t care about any dignity, he’s just angry. The Board is just overly smug and pleased with themselves. It’s a very stereotypical “You’ll never get away with this, you villain!!” picture, and very dramatic. And then the Board just walks away after giving him a bare-bones explanation of the situation that he doesn’t really process because he’s so mad and terrified. And they turn off all the lights and let him stew in there overnight.
Once Huey and the kids have finally put the pieces together, Webby comes to the Bin one day with Scrooge, and she goes to the meeting room to look for him. Only he’s not in there - The Board is, and they’re berating Gyro for sassing off about them to Scrooge or smth. Webby, with all her trained spy skills, hears their conversation and is able to avoid detection (although the Board is suspicious, and they start investigating to tie off any loose ends). Their conversation, though, would be suspicious to any oblivious passerby, but from all the research the kids have done, they know what’s going on.
That’s not the actual reveal - I think thematically that should go to Huey, since he’s the closest to Team Science and it’s his season. This would just chase away any last doubts the kids may have. And maybe Webby gets a voice recording as evidence? I just love those; they’re so dramatic.
this is one part that might not end up aligning with canon but I’m REALLY fond of the Akita FOWL theory. So in this AU, I’m thinking Akita was a really casual member of FOWL all along that recently got an updated agent commission. So there’s even more potential drama there, since Gyro utterly despises Akita now. And a bigger incentive to keep Boyd safe, since Gyro knows FOWL would be more than happy to program Boyd into a mindless attack robot.
in the old AU I was toying with the idea that FOWL didn’t know Fenton’s Gizmoduck until a big reveal, and it was a secret weapon of Team Science’s (but also a point for a lot of arguments, since Fenton desprately wanted to be out there protecting people at the cost of his own safety) but uhh... they definitely know now. In a bid to stop FOWL from taking control of Gizmoduck, Fenton claims the armor is out of commission and sabotages it. So Fenton’s heroics are temporarily halted while Team Science frantically tries to figure out how to keep FOWL from hacking/taking control of a new and improved Gizmosuit.
As for writing... I don’t have anything done, least of all anything for the revamped version of the AU, but I do have this wonderful writing prompt from @advisortotheadvisor that I started back in January 2019, when I was working on the old version of the AU, that I really want to do with the revamped AU. (it just fits so well ahhhh!!!)
["If you won’t do it, I’m sure your friend wouldn’t mind being in your place." + your FOWL team spyience au?]
Gyro crossed his arms across his chest, scowling to hide his fear. He’d gotten pretty good at it over these past few months.
Watching the halls was basically useless. Fowl was careful to keep Gyro and his team within the same halls, as to not be able to find their way out on their own. And Gyro knew the way to Steelbeak’s office well. He’d lost count of how many times he’d been marched here.
At least he wasn’t cuffed anymore, though he suspected it was only because the agents and their minions knew there was too much at stake for an escape attempt. It had been too long, anyway. That was an amaetur move. Even though he loathed to admit it, Gyro cared too much about the consequences - the people at stake - to even try.
It was just a well-aimed mockery. Like everything short of punishment seemed to be these days under FOWL’s watchful eye and careful thumb. Gyro scowled deeper and crossed his arms tighter and pretended in vain it didn’t bother him.
That was all he could do, really.
Okay that kind of got away from me haha. thank you so much for the ask!! It means a lot to me that people are still interested in this AU. definitely motivation to work on both the AU and that fic haha!! I’ll talk more abt this soon when I have more info/content

Favorite Character: I'm just gonna put Huey with fenton webby LP and della Donald and boyd at a close second i have so many faves:"D
Hated Character: Emma Glamour because, 1) Why does she get to choose what's special for the trends? We all got different tastes ma'am. 2) She probably raised Mrk beaks badly and he ended up to grow up as this petty immature guy (love him and love to hate him at the same time pfft). 3) She had a small point with what Louie was doing but lady you almost made my boy cry ateast he tried his best on the scheme. Overall she's pretty unlikeable but hey i like her outfit- 🤣
Oh and Doofus is a super close second he's a spoiled brat and is creepy but his creepy and unsettling nature is pretty much the thing that i find interesting about him i can just imagine the dt ceew pitching the most uncomfortable (but appropriate) situations with Doofus 🤣. Well the umbrella and walnuts thing definitely wasn't pg, confirmed by Frank himself but *cOUGH* anyways
Underrated Character: Uh let's see... I think Selene might be a bit underrated because i don't see her that much oh AND QUACKFASTER ESPECIALLY HER. I love and want to see that feral librarian/Curator a few more times and i feel like she may get an arc is s3. Lol i'm so invested in her character because of a few things
Overrated Character: I- uh idk tbh but i guess the triplets or Donald? But that's not a bad thing donald needs his love
Favorite Ship: Fendra because fenton and gandra are opposites with the love of science and i'm invested and see potential in their relationship in tge show (and also probablh the bittersweet FOWL Angst because.. Gandra y'know-) with donsy and scroldie as a close second (i like Weblena too it's a cute ship :3)
Hated Ship: any hdl x W ship along with Violet X Lena (they sissies, adopted, but they're still a family) aaand anything pedo/incest
Underrated Ship: I'm not sure tbh but i'll just say Fendra? And Magicstone i guess
Overrated Ship: Idk honestly yeah 😅
Thanks for sending stuff Cinn ^3^

Whump Challenge Day 4
Top 3 characters to whump and why?
That’s a hard one that has changed a lot over the years as I’ve hopped from fandom to fandom.  Usually, it’s whoever my favorite character(s) is/are.   I don’t know that I really have a whole lot right now, though, since I’ve been focusing a bit more on OCs and original stuff for a while.  I’ve been thinking about this question for the better part of a week (since I decided to do this challenge), and I’m still not sure how to answer it, so this is largely going off my AO3 (for the first two, at least).  The third bullet is under a cut for length and also for spoilers relating to the second season of The Flash (plus some negativity because I am so disappointed in that show).
Despite feeling like I've fallen into a deep DuckTales whump rut, I’ll say Lena, because I’ve got *checks* 11 fics tagged with her and hurt/comfort.  She’s a fun one, given that her past lends itself so well to it.  Magica could show back up at any moment and go after her again, and it’d hurt so much more because of their history and Lena’s unresolved baggage from it.  Or I can write something that takes place back when the two of them were…working together? living together? had an active familial relationship? and I have the option to add in canon angst about how Lena actually likes Scrooge and his family and doesn’t really want to hurt them \o/  That’s largely how I got through 2018’s Fictober (for which I used a whump prompt list), since I don’t like to whump the triplets or Webby nearly as much—I find that it’s much easier to cross the “line” from “good, fun whump” to “nope, too dark” with them.
I don’t end up whumping Donald Duck a whole lot, but when I do…oof.  I tend to go emotionally with him, since he’s got a lot of complicated history with his family (that hasn’t quite been addressed on the show the way I’d like…or have expected…).  I’m just going to say that I don’t usually realize how angsty I’m being with him until I go back and take another look at it some 6 months after I’ve posted it 😅
I think I’m going to put down Cisco from The Flash as my third.  I stopped watching the show ~two seasons ago because the showrunners were being obnoxious.  Cisco’s got a number of great whump scenes, both physical and emotional, and went through a lot of angst related to his superpowers (which are also a great vector of whump, since they often cause physical pain).  He’s also got a history of never quite being good enough that can be a lot of fun to play with.  It’s such a shame that the show chose to focus on Barry and his angst (*cough cough* and terrible choices *cough cough*), the season’s villain, and whatever character Tom Cavanaugh was playing that season more than any of the supporting side characters who had so much gosh darn potential.  They also left a number of emotional fallout-type things completely unresolved, such as Harry Wells “outing” Cisco as having superpowers to the rest of the Flash gang long before Cisco was ready without even discussing it with him first, from what I remember.  They never went back to that, never brought up how inappropriate it was of him to do, and then next thing you know, he and Cisco are happily working together as science bros.  That man did not treat Cisco well, and he does not deserve to be his friend without addressing any of that.  That could have made a fantastic minor story arc, and it could have even ended with Cisco and Harry as friends!  But they needed to have put in the work and the screen time for it to actually work.

Tropes/Cliches I Hate
So there are a lot of lists stating cliches people hate and this is another one. If you like these, that’s fine, I just get irked when I see them myself and want to rant a little. This isn’t a top ten list, just a list of things I dislike. There won’t be any romance tropes here as they deserve and have their own list. Also, most of these are story telling tropes, so just a heads up. Anyway, let me know what you personally think and tropes you hate and why. Oh, and SPOILERS! Before warned.
Tropes/Cliches I Hate
Too Much Drama/Unearned Drama: My most HATED trope. Don’t get me wrong; I like drama okay, but if it’s over loaded or feels like it was just thrown in for by the writers I get frustrated. Yes I know that writers do that to keep people interested, but can’t they make it feel natural or earned?
I liked “Finding Carter’s” drama; This is a story about a girl who discovers she was kidnapped as a toddler by the woman she called mother all her life and being reunited with her birth family. The drama makes sense and is earned by the whole family; (SPOILERS)
Carter’s whole world is turned upside down so her attitude, while mean at times is understandable.
Taylor has spent her whole life terrified of disappearing like her sister and has had her fear fed by her parents, so has lived a sheltered life.
Their mom lost a kid which has affected her marriage so she started to sleep with her partner and was even planning to leave, however when she found Carter she didn’t want to break her family again. Hell, even the drama with the villain is understandable as Carter and Taylor came from her eggs/she was a surrogate mom who was sleeping with the father at the time. You can see why she might think the twins were hers and that she had a right to take one. This is great drama and I would have loved it, but then they had to give the side characters the angstiest backstories they could which distracts from the family at times and felt unneeded.
And I know; that what drama are about. Angst central, I know, but that’s why I don’t watch a lot of drama. At the very least I want it to be earned an in character or story.
The fifth book of Harry Potter did this fairly well as all the drama came from the characters and their actions. Sirius died due to Harry’s impulsive actions and Dumbledore want to keep Harry in the dark to “protect him.” And the drama hits all the harder because it’s something that could happen in real life (minus the magic stuff.).
A bad example is Gilmore Girls where they force the character April in with a bunch of random drama just to keep Luke and Lorelei apart. There was a legitimate way to put off the wedding; have Luke be afraid of rushing things and feeling like he’s the one who has to make all the compromises and give up things and he runs away for awhile. Hell, they could have kept the plot line of her jumping into bed with Christopher because as terrible as that was it was still a very Lorelei thing to do. But the plot with April and everything after? UNNEEDED AND UNWANTED.
We’re not together, but I’m Pregnant/The Baby Plot: Okay, I love babies—when I don’t have to change them or be woken up at 3:00 in the morning. They’re soft, cute, adorable, and squishy! However in TV the baby is usually born to a “will they won’t they” couple as a way to force them together when the writers made the audience believe they were separating them or for drama. News flash writers; if the only way you can keep a couple together is to throw a baby in the mix, then just give up on the pair!
Babies are used for like one arc to cause drama, then are tossed to the side with maybe a passing mention so it’s like what’s the point?
It’s a cheap way to keep a couple together. A child should NOT be a plot deceive to keep a couple together or create drama. Ross and Rachel were the worse along with Belle and Rumple; Ross and Rachel had fallen into a slump and the audience were starting to move on and look at other options for them so the writers thought they could yank us back by revealing they had sex and Rachel was pregnant. All this led to was the same slapstick they went through when they were together before and they never worked through the issues they had before, mainly that they were jealous, possessive, and vindictive except now they had a BABY.
With the Rumbelle the writers couldn’t decide what the hell they wanted with Rumple (did they want him to be evil or a hero), but knew his actions were pushing Belle (and the fans) away. So what did they do? Threw a baby into the mix with a whole contrived plot that was just—what? I mean, it COULD have worked, but not the way the writers did it.
Writers, people; IT IS NEVER A CHILD’S JOB TO FIX A COUPLE. A baby is not a plot device they are people and deserve more respect than they get. If a couple can’t stay together by themselves, then a baby is not going to help. All it does is trap two people and why would want a couple that’s forced together that way?
“We’re trying to protect ya so we ain’t telling ya shit” and Bad communication skills: How many problems in stories could be solved if two people just sat down and talked instead of keeping secrets. Like “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.” If Dumbledore had told Harry that Voldemort could get into his head and could hurt people Sirius might be alive. And in a couple? I don’t need to list an example. You’re already thinking of a moment where a couple got into a fight because they didn’t just sit down and talk.
That being said I do like this trope as a potential reason for a hero being ignorant of their past at the beginning of a series as I like the hero from a muggle world. At the very least I want the person keeping the secrets to be called out on it.
Insane maniac pixie girl: This a low one as there are some I like, however I feel this character is over done lately and honestly I can only take so much of the personality. They’re always so loud, screaming all the time, squeaky, and have no sense of personal space. I mean, I like Webby and Mabel, but even then I can only take so much squealing. (I dunno, maybe I have sensitive ears.)
I’m not dead!: Disney gets away with this because the brought backs happen towards the end of the film and isn’t done time and again in the same movie. Compare to the Dragon Ball series were death is like a mosquito bite. Why should I care if they get hurt or the world dies? Just wish them back and everything is fine! Seriously, is anyone who watches DBZ concerned when a character gets hurt or dies still? It’s a cheap trick that feels like a “ha! Fooled you!” moment.
High school drama / Skewd Priorities: Okay when I say high school drama I mean focusing on a school dance when the world is at stake or worrying about whether or not a boy likes you when a murder is on the loose, or focusing on school junk when we as the readers want tto focus on the fantasy elements. This is mostly in YA dealing with kids, so some of this is understandable, but even so it’s not fun to read and even teenagers hate being portrayed like this (at least the one or two I know). When I  was teenager I liked the prom and stuff for quiet moments in stories, but NOT when there was a villain loose or danger was coming. Whenever that popped up I was like, ‘bitch wtf is wrong with you! Who cares about a zit when you have super magical powers.’ When I read a fantasy I want to focus on the fantasy elements, not school! School is boring.
Too Easily Forgiven: Forgiveness is wonderful thing, however it should be earned and you know some things can’t and shouldn’t be forgiven. For me it’s murder. Now if it’s between two warriors in a fight that’s one thing, but hurting or killing innocent civilians? No. No, no. Or hey, what if a person has been horribly bullying you or making your life miserable? Do you have to forgive, fuck no. Now I’m not saying you should seek revenge, but I’d rather they just choose that they don’t want to be angry and anymore and decide to move on.
Forgiveness should be earned when they’ve truly hurt someone and even if they feel remorseful, characters still have the right to be angry when they’ve been hurt or had someone they love taken from them.
All humans /muggles are bastards / idiots: Yeah, humans are assholes. We get it. No one knows how bad humans are than other humans, but you know what? Humans have done amazing things to conquer natural selection and the fact that other humans is humanity’s greatest enemy shows just how powerful the human race is. And not everyone wants to blow up shit, some of us work VERY hard to help and save everything we can and the rest are just trying to live our lives without hurting anyone. We may not be top dog, but we’re not bottom of the barrel either. And why should other races get put on pedestal as the woobie race or holier than thou? That doesn’t make them more interesting it just makes them annoying. I see this trope in almost every fantasy, can’t we switch it up a little?
magical speciesism / the blood must remain pure: Ignoring the real life implications this trope’s just been over done. Can’t we turn this around and have it that cross breeding between a magical and a human is considered the norm or a good thing? Switch it up a bit?
Ron the death Eater and Draco in Leather pants: This annoying enough in the fandom where we like to exaggerate and things we like and dislike, but in the actual show it’s insulting to the character AND the fans. If there’s something wrong with the character then the writers should make an arc to improve them, not drag the character through the mud.
On the other end if a character is an asshole you can’t just make them a hero suddenly and expect the audience to buy it. The characters have to earn their redemption.
And those are ten tropes I hate. How about you guys? What’s your thoughts? Do you hate them or am I alone? And what do guys hate to see in stories?

A very much not serious Weblena Frozen AU that came to me while listening to the Broadway soundtrack:
-Was it a wise thing for King Scrooge of Arenduckburg to bring home the toddler that mysteriously appeared after he defeated that evil sorceress? Probably not. But he couldn’t just leave the bairn there, or at least that’s how he justifies it to his trusted advisor/bodyguard Beakley
-Beakley’s granddaughter’s about the same age as this little one anyway, they’re sure to get along
-And how they most certainly do
-Lena shows signs of magical powers from a very young age and Scrooge is VERY quick to put his foot down on them
-Webby on the other hand thinks Lena and her magic is the Most Amazing Thing Ever
-Things go about how you’d expect, Webby gets hurt, loses her memories of Lena’s powers, Scrooge and Beakley don’t handle it very well and Lena has All The Guilt
-also around now is when Lena’s shadow starts whispering to her, that she’s awful and a monster and everyone’s only ever going to fear her
-so Lena shuts herself away with Scrooge’s encouragement and Webby’s like “uh why’s my best friend shutting me out”
-Scrooge and Beakley go missing-presumed-dead on an adventure. Possibly Spear of Selene related.
-fast forward to coronation day, Webby is excited, Lena is terrified, and I have absolutely no idea what to do about Hans, who the heck is Hans in this AU, I’ve already mentally cast all three of the triplets as a combination for Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf’s roles in the story and there aren’t any other potential rival romance characters wandering around
-yeah this does mean that Donald is a rock troll, absolutely. Probably moved there after the spear of selene mess and took the eggs with him.
-anyway Webby and Lena fight about how distant the latter has been and Lena loses control and suddenly shadows are coming to life everywhere and curse of darkness all across the land
-Webby meets the triplets while searching for Lena and they offer to help her but they complain and squabble the whole way about helping her it’s like having brothers for the first time in her life
-on the one hand Lena’s “free” to explore her magic for the first time but also she’s all alone with her shadow who’s offered to “teach” her and also is encouraging her to stay away from everyone else forever
-Webby and the triplets confront Lena and Lena accidentally hurts Webby AGAIN (tho it’s definitely actually Magica’s fault) and oh the angst
-Not sure what happens after that because who is Hans, but an act of love will brighten a shadowed heart, or something like that, Webby saves Lena and Lena saves the kingdom, Magica is banished 5ever
-also no way did I actually kill off Scrooge and Beakley here, they just got stuck in a wormhole or something and finally get back after the kids have fixed everything, maybe they have Della with them
-and they all live happily ever after the end, warm hugs for everyone
