Holiday pal here! One Last Stop seems interesting! I’m not usually one for romance books buuut it has some sci-fi mixed in there that’s drawing me in for sure! I really like the idea of it and want to know how the whole thing is handled so I’m excited to check it out!
I’ve read a few books this year, mostly sci-fi, horror/thriller and fantasy like books since those tend to be my favorite genres! I also like deep/real stories? I’m not sure how else to explain it. I’m reading Fellowship of The Ring right now and I’m loving it so I’ll recommend that! A book I’m quite excited to read is Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir.
Music that I enjoyed a lot this year was from some smaller artists you could say? Definitely not mainstream, at least I don’t think so. Weyes Blood’s album Titanic Rising was so lovely. I just adore her voice. Djo’s album Decide was so fun and he makes my favorite kind of sound as well as loving the persona he sorta creates for his music. Lastly I’ll recommend Left At London, her last ep was amazing to me and different! The opening song has a fake like stand up bit intertwined in it and I’m just obsessed with a lot of her music. Do you have any recommendations or artists you love that you think deserve more attention?
I forgot to mention yesterday, I love your theme! Fits so well with the season. Now, I saw you collect vinyl and so do I! It’s one of my favorite things to do when I’ve got the cash to do so. I tend to collect color vinyls more than plain black because they just mesmerize me. Plus I just love physical media, there’s something so special about it.
If you can pick, do you have a prized vinyl in your collection? What artist do you have the most vinyl for if you know! A few more little questions: what’s your fav color and why? Exactly!! The book has this mystery element to it, in the sense that both characters try to find out how to save the one who is stuck on the train and while doing so, they grow closer together!! They go through so much together that you can only root for them!! It’s a whole roller coaster of emotions, at least for me lol.
I guess it’s time to add more books to the to-be-read!! I’ve seen Project Hail Mary floating around, especially on booktok. But lately, a lot of booktok recommendations are not really doing it for me. I tried reading Red, White and Royal Blue but just couldn’t get into it. I made it halfway through before I stopped 😬. But I’d definitely would have to give your recs. a look!!
I’ll have to give those people a listen, even though I’m terribly bad at listening to new music.. but I’ll give them the chance, just for you!! In terms of who I would want to give more attention to, I went to a music festival back in September and that’s where I found a lot of smaller artists that I actually really liked!! Alexander 23 is one of them!! My college roommate is a big fan, so we went so see a little bit of their set!! They sound terrific live!! I’d also say Indigo de Souza!! I was listening to a bit of their music the day before the actual festival, and fell in love!! Their lead singer has a voice I can only describe as rogue, if that made any sense lol. I highly recommend their stuff!! I know rina sawayama is a pretty big artist, but I’d say them as well!!
Oooooo another person who loves vinyl!! I only just started collecting around the end of 2020!! Guess it was one of these hobbies that I wanted to pick up due to staying indoors cause of COVID. My prized record(s) would probably be a tie between folie à deux by fall out boy (mostly because it took forever to find in any pressing!!) and the human condition by Jon Bellion (it’s a clear pressing and it brings back a lot of good memories from college); right behind all of these would be my one direction vinyl collection!! I’m trying to collect all their band/solo artist records and so far I have all but one (Mind of Mine by ZAYN). I have a lot of doubles for certain artist, but I don’t have more than three of the same record (though that would be cool!!). I could ask the same to you!! Fav. record(s) you have??? Doubles?? Triples??
Speed round questions!! Fav. color? Tie between purple and yellow, but pink is starting to grow on me lately!! Comfort movie? Since it’s the season, Jim Carrey’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Me and my brother can recite that movie by memory!! Fun fact? I really like art!! Especially sculptures/installations!! I’m trying to get back into creating art again, but it’s been pretty difficult lately. Trying to see if I can break out of this artist block that’s had a hold on me for awhile 😬.

SDOC4 Finale Commentary
Now that SDOC is over, Saturday nights are gonna feel a little empty for a while. We won't get to see cutie and cool DD regularly but that's fine. There are still so many other things to do while we await their new dramas.
I was inspired to start this SDOC commentary series after the first ep but along the way, I missed 2 or 3 posts cos I got lazy, uninspired or just too engrossed to take notes while watching. I'm a terrible blogger hahaha...but that's alright. Cos fandom should be fun and not become a chore. Blogging is not homework. But I told myself I have to finish what I started, so here goes...
I've said it before and I will say it again. The show is too damn long, even for me who was sitting at home in relative comfort, with access to drinks, the toilet, snacks etc. Can't imagine what it was like for the captains, their crew, the dancers, the audience, the staff etc. I remember during one of the hotpot eps, the captains gave feedback and requested for the finale to be shorter. Also, snacks and drinks for the crowd. I wonder if it was fulfilled.
At one point while watching, it suddenly dawned on me that I'm experiencing the finale in real time (sort of), at the same time as Bobo. Then I got a bit gleeful at the thought, cos it's like a shared experience of sort, you know?
Throughout the season, I've been wishing that they'll include a little DD cam permanently onscreen, cos we all watch SDOC for WYB's reactions, right? But I actually didn't think of opening 2 windows (main show and WYB cam) while watching the finale and I was watching it on my laptop. I occasionally toggled to the DD cam when I got bored. By the time I realised I could do that, the show was more than halfway over. I felt so dumb. =(
Captains' Opening Dance
No surprises there, my favourite is Team Boom's showcase and it's not because I'm biased. DD has always been a fan of the old school funky style. Zin-san said that DD specifically requested to do it in the HB style. It must be a dream come true for him to be able to collaborate with H&B on a choreographed dance. I like the whole energy and how everyone is so synchronised. And DD just looked like he enjoyed every moment of it.
HG's Singing in the Rain was a nice touch and deviation from what he has done previously but I felt it was a tad lengthy for me. And a bit flat. I'm glad Henry managed to form his musical band and incorporate his violin music with his showcase. I'm surprised I even managed to recognise that Lay used his own song, considering that I don't even follow his music. It's great he tried to showcase different dance types in it but it didn't invoke any particular feelings in me.
This part here reminded me of DD's freestyle segment during his Wu Gan performance this year. I love it! It's my favourite moment of this whole segment. He looked so free, like he's just immersed in the moment.
Dancers' Showcase
My personal top 3:
1) H&B
I loved everything about this and I like that they stuck to their roots but also tried to infuse new elements to their showcase. The whole routine is full but not overly so, and there's sufficient variation to the moves and choreography so it's not dry. No fancy props or costumes or big moves, just pure old school dance. My fav is the part when the spotlight cast those giant shadows on the screen behind. Simple but impactful visually. And the free-fall drop move. I love it! And when you see DD's reaction at the end, you know we have a winner here.
2) Ye Yin
I felt like I was watching a show, a musical or something, and not a dance. Very rich elements, in the choice of props, visual elements, sounds used etc. I did think it was a little similar to his showcase during the SDOC party but maybe that was the point, cos I recall DD making a comment about that being a finale-worthy piece. Maybe it was like a call-back.
3) Chun Lin
Last year's Tonight was spectacular and it somewhat gave birth to DD's VOTF, which is my all-time fav. I'll never be over it! I know some people think Chun Lin's Cheating on You is similar to Tonight and not as innovative but it works for me. I like this kind of dance and I think it's quite a distinctive style of his. Now, if only I can see DD doing something like this again.
Under normal circumstances, I would have liked Mr Three's performance. The narrative is good and I like how the little dancer and him worked together. His mum is likeable and I thought it was smart of him to use the family card in the final showcase. Ultimately, his earlier controversy somehow marred his image in my eyes so I cannot bring myself to like him more.
Ibuki's showcase was powerful, full of energy and she really showed everyone who's the Queen of SDOC. But I thought it was a bit much, too full, in that the power and energy levels of the whole performance shot up to max right from the beginning and was then stuck at that energy level the whole time. I would have appreciated a little more build up, some transition.
Bouboo's Wakanda-inspired piece was enjoyable. I like the setup and their outfits looked great, but I thought there was a tad too much acting compared to dancing, although whenever he actually danced, it was top notch as usual.
Acky-san didn't do much dancing actually but I got the sense that it was by design. Eg. Him wearing the same outfit as everyone else so he won't stand out, and him spending a fair bit of time just squatting at the back behind the other dancers, while they danced, and the last part where he passed his hat to the boy to symbolise succession. I felt that his intention of this showcase was to let the younger generation of dancers have more of the limelight, to let them showcase themselves. But of course when he did dance, he stole the show. The guy has showmanship.
GOGO Brothers were great, as usual. I mean, there's really nothing to nit-pick about their technique but that's also the thing. The showcase was nice to look at but it didn't do much for me. Not very memorable nor were there particular wow moments. Tony Gogo's appearance was also less of a surprise here since he already appeared during the SDOC party episode.
Yang Kai's performance was not bad but like Bouboo, I thought there was a little too much acting and not enough dancing. I always felt that for a B Boy, he is really versatile. I did get a surprise when he unveiled his shaved head in the end.
I don't think Rochka's performance was deserving of the low score. I liked that he showcased his vocals in the beginning. Some parts were a bit messy and I didn't quite get the theme but I was surprised he scored under 100.
I generally like George but I don't think his performance deserved to be in the Top 8. It was a bit too disjointed for me, like a mish-mash of Chinese cultural elements, from the drunken fist, Wong Fei Hong music, kungfu moves, to the lion dance at the end. There's no central story or linkage between each segment. Felt like something more suited for a CNY TV show. I guess the oriental theme struck a chord with the judges.
I generally agree with the results of the final 8, although I think Poppin C should have made it instead of George. While it wasn't like wow, I thought it was a more coherent performance, plus the visual elements were superior. And Poppin C was able to showcase his techniques more.
Huang Xiao's piece gave me some Broadway, cabaret vibes. It's a nice performance but I don't think the SDOC stage was right for it.
I don't really remember much of Eleven. His piece was joyful. That's about it. He seems like a humble person though. I like his attitude.
I'm not sure if it was rigged or really such a coincidence, but the show achieved the tension they wanted when somehow it was GOGO vs H&B and George vs Huang Xiao during the elimination.
I have always liked Huang Xiao but what he said when he was eliminated didn't sit well with me. I thought it was a tad arrogant, like 'You people don't understand MY art.'' Maybe he didn't phrase his words properly but it sure reeks a little of lemons.
Similarly, I didn't like what Lay said when GOGO Brothers were eliminated. Maybe I'm a bit too sensitive but I thought by saying that everything is just a game, it is a little disrespectful - to the other contestants who left their homes and invested 6 months of their lives in the show, to the finalists and their team who worked hard on their final showcase, to the staff members and crew who spent months planning, to the captains who invested time and resources to provide guidance etc. To reduce all of these hard work and effort to 'just a game', just because your team members didn't make it to the top 8. I thought that was really uncalled for and again, reeks of lemons. Compare that to Henry's reactions and words when his team members got eliminated. Henry just came across as real sweet and encouraging, like 'you're still the best in my eyes, this is not the end' etc. There are better ways to encourage and console your team, instead of telling them that this thing doesn't matter, that it's not important.
Final Battle
Seriously, 25 rounds is just way too punishing. You can just see from the dancers' faces but kudos to them for persevering.
I like the vibes towards the end, like it's no longer a competition at that point. It's like a dance collab presented in the form of a battle. Eg. when the Justin Bieber track came on and Bouboo passed the mic over to Yang Kai when it was his turn. The best part was DD vibing to Justin Bieber. Did you all catch him mouthing the words and grooving? WYB's various reactions is really the star of the show. Somebody do a compilation from ep 1 to 12, please.
Despite all that was said and speculated on, I do think Ye Yin deserved the win based on this performance and the battle. Yang Kai had some great moves, like the one that made DD jump up, but overall, Ye Yin showed more versatility, variation, and consistency. There were several rounds where Yang Kai ended before the 30s were up but Ye Yin mostly continued till the end. That said, I have mad respect for all the dancers. I, for one, cannot dance to save my life.
DD raising both Yang Kai and Ye Yin's hands up at the end spoke volumes. They are both winners in his eyes. The message is clear. And the group hug at the end. He loves his Team Boom. You can really tell.
I also like that at the end when DD gave his little winning speech, he spoke about his admiration to all the dancers and how he hope the culture of Street Dance can reach more youth via the show and with the formation of the Alliance. This final moment isn't about Team Boom's victory. It's about their shared love for street dance and bringing this love and street dance culture to more people around the world.
I started watching SDOC because of DD but I stayed for the dancers and their never give up spirit. It is a huge time investment but this journey is an enjoyable one. No doubt it's tiring but I'm pretty sure DD enjoyed his time on the show, especially this season where he managed to learn from so many legends. I doubt he will be back for S5 but if he does, we'll be there with him.

My French music Masterpost
So since half of the population is in quarantine right now I thought I could make a list of some french/ french speaking artists and songs that I listen to and that you could also discover since we all have time to kill.
Obviously I cannot put every single artist and song I know and listen to so it’ll be a bit of mix of my favorite albums/ artists of the past few years but also what i’m listening at the moment !
Pop/ R&B
Angèle
She’s a 23 year old Belgian singer. Her first album was a HUGE hit last year and she got 5 news songs out in November too. She’s also been dating a woman for a few months.
I would recommend to listen to her whole album Brol , it’s quite a bop. Also there are two songs about wlw relationship called « Ta Reine » and « Tu me regardes ». That last song was a kind of coming out song btw, we were all freaking out when we listened to it the first time lmao.

Clara Luciani
She’s a 27 year old French artist. 2019 was truly her year. She’s has an incredible voice and I just love her energy. She’s an amazing songwriter too. Her first album is called Sainte Victoire.
Favorite songs: La grenade, Les fleurs, On ne meurt pas d’amour, Drôle d’époque, Nue, Dors, Ma Soeur, Bovary.
Christine and the Queens
I think a lot of you know her already. She’s also a queer and pansexual artist. I have to say I really LOVED her first album Chaleur Humaine, one of the best albums of the past decade, but I didn’t love as much her second album (Chris) or her new EP (La vita nuova). I mean they’re good, but her first album was really something else. And it’s also just my opinion !

Therapie TAXI
This is a pretty fun band, their first album has been quite popular. They’re pretty unique and sometimes their songs and lyrics are let’s say... bold lmao. I haven’t listen to all their songs though, there’s like 25 songs in their first album and 15 in their second aha. But they also have so many bops.

Aya Nakamura
Aya is now a r&b/pop superstar here in France and even in other countries in Europe. She’s 25 and you can hear her songs in every night club and party here. Can’t say her lyrics are very elaborated but her songs are real bops and the best to dance to in your room lmao

Lous and the Yakuza
She’s a 23 year old belgian artist. She only has 3 songs out for now, but i’ve been pretty obsessed with them. Her lyrics are pretty great too (and she’s SO beautiful omg).

Yseult
Yseult is a 24 year old french singer/songwriter. She’s has a beautiful voice and the beats are also great. I haven’t listened to all her songs though, I only heard her new EP Noir which is great.

Indie/electro rock/folk :
Pomme
Pomme is very famous in the LGBTQ community in France, but i haven’t listened much to her songs (yet). She’s a 24 year old french and lesbian singer songwriter. Her songs talk about love, anxiety, and even death. She has a such beautiful voice too.
Favorite songs: On brûlera, A peu près, Anxiété, Je sais pas danser
The Dø
The Dø are a finnish/french duo and also one of my favorite band (they sing in english though). They made of of my favorite albums of the last decade, Shake Shook Shaken, which came out in 2014. Their first albums sounded more folk/indie rock, but their third album is much more electro. And the album is about the break up of the lead singer, Olivia Merilahti, and the musician, Dan Levy. One of my favorite song of all time is in their second album Both Ways Open Jaws and is called Too Insistent.
Favorite songs: On my shoulders, Too Insistent, Sparks, Despair Hangover & Ecstasy, Opposite Ways, Anita No!, Nature Will Remain.
Izia
Izia is a singer but also an actress, you may know her from La Belle Saison, Samba, or Un peuple et son roi. I listened a lot to her third album La vague, that was released in 2015. it’s much more electro that what she used to do before. Her two first albums were much more rock albums. She’s got a new album out but i haven’t listen to it yet.
Favorite songs: Hey, La vague, You, Les ennuis, Bridges, Tomber
Mansfield.YTA
The band is composed of 2 women, Julia Lanoë et Carla Pallone. Julia is in other bands/ projects such as Sexy Sushi and Kompromat. Unlike those two last bands that are very electro, Mansfield is something more nuanced. It sounds more like indie folk and mixes different style. You can hear electric instruments but also violin, harmonium, piano etc. And it’s pretty melodramatic. They sing in french and english.
Favorite songs: Et demain déja, Pour oublier je dors, Mon amoureuse, Gilbert De Clerc
Electro :
Stromae
You might have heard of that Belgian guy. His album Racine Carré (released in 2013) is too me the best of the decade and his song “Papaoutai” was a huge hit in Europe. He’s a pure genius. His lyrics are super deep and usually quite dark but he makes incredible beats that are very electro. If his second album is definitely his most popular album, his first one Cheese, was also so so great and his first single “Alors on Danse” was a huge hit (Kanye West did a remix of it). He also directed Billie Eilish’s “Hostage” music video. That dude is just incredible. But after his huge success his did a burn out and his mental health got very bad. He stopped making music since then.

Rap :
I have to say i’ve been listening to a lot of french rap this past couple of years so i won’t list all the rappers i listen to, especially since i’m pretty sure most of you aren’t interested in rap. But I still have to list some of them that have been very popular recently. France has a huge and very diverse rap culture.
Fauve
Actually that collective is actually not a rap band at all. They do more like spoken word songs but didn’t where also to put them lol. The band broke up 5 years but I still listen to them a lot today. It’s one of my fav band too. Their lyrics are really well written and beautiful. It usually talks about the “youth malaise” and their frustrations, heartbreaks and anger etc. They made 1 EP et 2 LP.
Favorite songs: Blizzard, Cock Music Smart Music, Nuits Fauves, Haut les Coeurs, Rub a Dub, Voyous, Infirmière, Vieux frères, Lettre à Zoé, Paraffine, Tallulah, T.R.W, Les Hautes Lumières
Meryl
Meryl is a 24 year old french martinican rapper. Before making her own music she used to write and compose melodies for other famous french rappers. She’s very influenced by her roots and and she also sings some of her songs in creole. I love how different and diverse her music is.

Aloïse Sauvage
Aloïse is a multi talented french singer/ actress/ dancer. She released her first EP in 2019 called Jimy and her very first album Dévorantes was released in February 2020. She’s definitely a queer artist (99% sure she’s lesbian but she’s never confirmed it so anyway + her little sister is 100% a lesbian aha) and she talks about lgbtq issues in some of her songs, but also about her own issues and all. Her lyrics are beautifully written. And she’s also a ray of sunshine so there’s nothing to dislike about her haha.

Roméo Elvis
Roméo isn’t french but belgian. He’s the big brother of Angèle. I actually knew about her because of him. He’s less known than her now obviously but he’s still quite popular. His rap is pretty soft and chill. I preferred his collaborations with Le Motel (who was his producer) more than his “solo” album but he still got some good songs on his last album.
Favorite songs: Morale, Nappeux, Drôle de question, Bébé aime la drogue, J’ai vu (feat. Angèle), Lenita, Chocolat, Normal, Dis-moi
Lomepal
Lomepal is a french rapper. He’s known for writing songs that are pretty elaborated with chill and melodic beats. I also call is rap “soft”. He usually talks about his loneliness and insecurities

PNL
PNL is the most popular cloud rap band of the past few of years. They’re two brothers NOS and Ademo and they’re famous for using vocoder when they rap. Like a lot of vocoder lol. But they’re also very known for working with some of the best beat makers in the industry. If the way they rap is sometimes pretty hard, their beats are very chill and cool. In their songs they talk a lot of their life as dealers in the french banlieue, their struggles, how tough their lives were but also how their lives today isn’t set and how they’re not necessarily happier today. Their third album “Dans la légende” was a huuuuge hit in France, and their latest album “Deux frères” just as much if not more.

hello new ppl, today sucks so imma talk about the two shows i binged last night to try and not break down for a 4th time today.
talking about Jujutsu Kaisen and Onyx Equinox, will probably have spoilers so don’t read if you don’t want them!
Jujutsu Kaisen:
so for starters, i usually love mappa animes so i had high hopes for this one, especially with how much others seem to like it but i gotta be real guys, it wasn’t a fav
i plan to keep watching it bc i DO like the characters and animation but the story isn’t rly hitting it for me. perhaps i’ve grown out of the need for torture porn anime but god i could do without all the death/violence/needless depressing shit
also the pacing in this anime is whiplash inducing. its not that its hard to follow, bc most of the story is linear thus far, but it just. feels so off??? like one second he’s being told ‘we’re gonna execute u’ and the next he’s having idle conversation while picking up his grandpa’s ashes like WHAT LMAO

ok but the story- so i get that this whole show/story is centered on the idea of negativity and curses and basically exorcising demons, so ofc its gonna go into the ‘life or death, humanity judgement day’ point of conversation but when i tell u i’m so tired of this philosophical bs being put on a pedestal in anime BOI
when junpei shows up and u show me copious amounts of scenes of him being abused and tortured relentlessly, OVER MULTIPLE EPISODES, alongside all this death bullshit throughout the show, ONLY TO KILL THE POOR KID AFTER THEY KILL HIS MOM- i’m out man, i cANNOT
i didn’t even have time to develop some form of attachment to the character, i just felt bad for him. why are you going to introduce this tortured person who is lost just to kill him? its so blegh story-telling it kills me

so also another violent anime but this one at least feels idk purposeful???? bc its portraying creatures that are blood thirsty and idk it just made more sense in my brain
i didn’t think i’d be a fan of the animation, but its actually p good! the style is comfortable, and the gore is like- while still gross/icky, its cartoonish enough that i don’t feel icked out
the voice acting is okay, tho Izel’s has got me uh,,, oof. not a fav, is all.
also i curse like a sailor but the cursing in this show forever felt random and out of place, like i could do without like 80% of it
ALSO i kno the point is that Izel is like, the worst humanity’s got but CAN SOMEONE CUT THE KID SOME SLACK. half this show was nonstop bullying this 13 yr old, liKE CAN WE PLS,, HE LOST HIS SISTER, TRIED TO KILL HIMSELF, NOW IS A PUPPET FOR THE GODS PLS SOMEONE JUST HUG HIM OR SMTH

THE KING: ETERNAL MONARCH EP 10, My Appreciation and How It Made Me Feel
KSJ theme song with this guitar is seriously a mood. This scene is so beautiful, where its reminds him of old days with the person that he refers as beautiful dream. Its a bit sad, because jte is literally a dream for him, he is not from Korea, therefore his existence here is not real. He doesnt belongs here. But he is still in denial because this dream is where his heart is
One of the charm from this series is they always brings us to what happens prior to the ending and also sometimes its a flashback. I really cannot describe the detail but it is well done. If you watch this series you will get what i mean 😬
Here in eps 10, we got to see prior Gon meeting LR. And its beautiful. Gon coming to check the time in space between 0 and 1 (the humming voice and lady noh’s voice gave me chills) , and because he misses JTE he stop by Korea to hear her voice because he doesnt have much time, but ended up meeting JTE because she is also roaming around forest because she misses Gon.
This scene is beautifully made, with the poems that fits well, the longing, the shocking face of each other seeing each other, them hugging. The camera also plays the big part to make ot more dramatic. I love how they blurred Gon face then become more and more clear when he is closer to JTE. It feels like we can see hom through JTE eyes. Saddest part is when Gon ask JTE “have you beed waiting here?” With a worried face and a red eyes kind of holds back tears 😢 Fav part is when JTE holds Gon hand while they hugging, as if she needs reassurance that he is really here. He really exist 😢 i cried though, damn

I read somewhere (haters basically) says that this scene is lack of feelings, and they dont feel the longing because there are no clear timeline on how long they have been separated. But if only they think logically, they will realize that JTE and Gon not seeing each other for at least 2 weeks (plus).
We can count it from KSJ. After the revelation that he is from Corea, he took his 21 days leave. The day he took leave was the time Gon about to go back to Corea. The time JTE and Gon meeting in forest is around 7/5 days before new years, so it means Gon have been away for 2 weeks. And 2 weeks is enough for you to misses someone so bad especially when he is coming from a different world and about to face danger
Move on to JY part in taking JES role. This scene is hilarious because of the sister. She knew that JY is not JES 🤣 people need to appreciate this series and him more seriously
Back to Corea its also new year. I will said it tirelessly, Gon and fantasia from another dimention is one of the best thing exist in this series. They match perfectly especially in this scene! Its majestic and have a royal vibes. The whole scene could win its own award if its up to me. Also the speech, well written. Kudos to KES
There is 1 scene in between we got to see PM asking Lady Nohs help to wins Gon heart. This short coversation between them is one of my favorite.
PM “what can crush Pyeha’s heart?”
Lady Noh “the normal question would be, what makes his heart flutter?’ Yet you are asking what can crush his heart”
Damn Lady, love you a lot!
After the speech PM walks with Gon, fav line here from Gon, and PM startled face
PM “will you also be rooting for me every step of the way?”
Gon “as i said before, i always have. Of course I hope you dont have a bad sense of direction”
If we hear it in korean, the words actually sound a bit sarcastic. Loved it.
Also this line is superb, because it shows me how Gon is good at reading people personality 🤣
Gon is coming to police station and saw Luna face finally on the report. I love Gon glances to the detective when he says she is terminally ill, as if he sense something. And yes we got the answer that he assume, the balance that the traitor keep metioning means “those with the same face are stealing the lives of their counterparts” then we see his eyes going to Luna again. Means its also possible to happens to her. Because he knew that she has motives.
He also realize that LR obelisk located in different place. Here i catch something important, Gon has never been aware that familiar faces has always been his weakness. He realized it only in eps 13 and 15. But i realized it actually on eps 5 when he meet seung ah, he greets her as if they knew each other. Also now in eps 10, he calls her directly asking to make public invitation of him going to haeundae (to provoke LR). Familiar faces makes him feel too comfortable, later we knew that it brings him danger and sadness
Now we back at the ending of eps 9 scene, Gon saw LR alone, try to confront him with all royal guard but his judgement is wrong this time, of course LR have minions and attacking the people. Gon ended up letting LR go because he has ability to hurt people and also because he is startled that LR is actually still have the same faces and also because JES got shot, damn its so tense. I need to give LMH, LJJ and the one who play Ho Pil, standing applause for their acting! Very good, i can feel Gon angry, i hate LR was very calm, and Ho Pil angry voice and expressions, COOL!
While Corea was in chaos, JY in Korea was investigating KSJ, finally he knows that KSJ mom’s doppelgänger is working at the palace, thats explain a lot of things. But JY is in Korea what can he do? He cannot inform this to Gon 🥺 but at least he join forces with JTE and KSJ to solve this mess at Korea side.
I think up to this point where viewers will have confusion, because one scene we are in Korea and next its in Corea, poeple need to pay attention to be able to follow. Thank god i can so i still pretty much following this story okay.
Gon is now talking to PM on phone where she is - as usual - crossing the line asking Gon to be honest and inform her whether its really LR or his follower. I love love Gon expression here, very subtle and detail, its like “im having a very rough day got terror attack yet this person is being annoying and not helping at all” 🤣 i love how he claps back to PM
Gon “Hence, i beseech you, PM Koo. Do not pull the gag. Do not use the word ‘honesty’ as your weapon. Please focus solely on the safety of the people”
The Royal family actually furious about the terror attack and asking Prince Buyeong to act, actually i found it very realistic when they blame the PM because she is woman. This world is flowing like that 😅 its not even relevant but people love to blame it to woman and also because they want to get rid of PM for a political reason. Jeez. Disgusting.
Gon is coming to visit Prince Buyeong, as you know their conversation always deep and meaningful. Sometimes it feels like im watching some different movies because of how high quality their scene most of the time. Both acting superb, makes me teary eye when Gon asking hows sejin’s doing? And how Gon also wants to do a good job as her.
Gon “will i do a greta job too?”
I cants, he is just so scared and insecure 🥺 he ask his uncle to stay in the palace as the second in line. Like, at this point he is ready to sacrifice anything as long as he can get LR. Most heartbreaking words was when he promise to protect himself and he is asking his uncle to also protect himself too, thats the king’s order 😭😭 i cry a river

Chattanooga’s Dope Skum Drop Gritty First Spin
~Doomed & Stoned Debuts~

Stompin' southern stoner riffs and great big beats collide with punkish vocals in 'Tanasi' (2021). It's the debut EP from Chattanooga's DOPE SKUM. These guys know it's about to get hot as we transition from winter to spring and on into summer, too. Oh those muggy days in Tennessee! What I miss most about spending time in the Deep South are the cicada at sunset, the smell of honeysuckle during evening strolls, and those damned thunderstorms -- the kind that loom large and loud and'll put the fear of Zeus right in ya.
So new that they're not yet in the oft-referenced Encyclopaedia Metallum, Dope Skum attracted my attention earlier this month when we met on Instagram -- a platform I avoided for years, but have finally come to embrace, if for no better reason than these kinds of spontaneous encounters. They're another child born of the Great Lockdown, a two-piecer with Cody Landress-Gibson on guitar and voice and James Silber on drums. Like many of the duos we've visited recently in this humble rag, Dope Skum bring impressive heft that could easily fool the common bystander into believing they're dang near twice the size.

Drawn together by their affinity for punk rock and the heaviest of metal, Dope Skum have a distinctive, if eccentric sound that kinda reminds me of Portland's LáGoon, at least in the crooning department. If you look at the history of sludge metal, bands of this kind typically start out as lo-fi punk or thrash and just get slower, meaner, deeper, and heavier over time (I'm thinking of an outfit just one state over, NC's Buzzov*en).
Dope Skum describe their sound as "nastier than an old timer's moonshine mash," which made me wince. Standing on a "rock-solid foundation of sludgy stoner metal with a notable punky inflection" the band is influenced by the likes of Weedeater, Iron Monkey, Eyehategod, and Toke. This is rude, crude, raucous terrain we're entering, people. And I'm sure the guys are just itching like an ankle full of chiggers to take the act to the stage, if they haven't gotten busted for an illegal house show by now.

'Tanasi' (2021) is their 5-track debut, and while trying to look up the meaning of the word -- temporarily mistaking it for the Japanese "Tansai" (which I thought might be a reference to some to some "lightly colored" strain of weed) -- it finally hit me that Tanasi might be referring how folks generations deep in Chattanooga pronounce Tennessee, with characteristic Southern drawl. As if the state-shaped logo on the album cover wasn't clue enough. Truth be told, Tanasi is actually the Native American/Cherokee word that Tennessee is derived from.
Dope Skum are only happy to let the unique character of their surroundings and its fascinating, tangled history leak into the songcraft too, which the guys quip, "recalls simplistic fiddle tunes of yore." They go on describe their first opus to us:
Exuding a gritty DIY ethos and an anti-establishment attitude, 'Tanasi' is deliberately rough around the edges, and doesn’t play by any particular set of rules. There is no ulterior motive, no grand artistic vision. Dope Skum simply play engaging music that appeals to their interests and their roots.
I can definitely get behind that. If you like riffs that can really rumble, honest lyrics delivered with vocals that sting like an onary hornet's nest, and rhythms that swing wide and heavy with stomping Southern swagger, you'll be saying Tanasi in no time! "We wanted to try and create something that was southern, punky, and sludgy," the band concludes. "I think we accomplished that."
Look for the EP to drop this weekend in digital format. I'm sure if you guys dig it, 'twill find its way to a suitable label for a physical release in the near future. I'm currently stuck on a loop between "Anxiety" and "Chickamauga" as my tracks of choice. Dope Skum Take Us On Tour Of 'Tanasi'
How did Dope Skum become a thing and what tools did you use to create 'Tanasi' (2021)?
Dope Skum started in late-2020 with myself, Cody Landress-Gibson, on guitar and James Silber on drums. Our gear really isn't anything to write home about. On the EP, I played a Harley Benton DC Junior with a single P90 pickup running through a Rat ProCo, Orange Fur Coat Fuzz, and EarthQuaker Devices Ghost Echo at times into a Marshall MG50CFX. James plays a Yamaha drum set with PA Meinl Classics cymbals. It's pretty "working class" gear, nothing too fancy.
What's the story behind the new record?
James and I started jamming and both had a pretty solid idea of the sound we were going for. We wanted something in the same vein as Weedeater, but maintain the ability to throw in elements of different influences we have. I had already written some riffs, and we threw them together to what became the EP. We recorded, mixed, and mastered everything ourselves at my house/garage in Chattanooga.
We'd love a guided tour through the new EP. Can you give us insight into the themes explored in these five monster tracks?
Feast of Snakes: The title was inspired by a Harry Crews novel, but the song doesn't pull from the novel at all. It's essentially an anti-authoritarian song. Politicians, kings, people in power tend to be snakes in the grass. There are also some religious metaphors used, as well, throughout the song.
Anxiety: The idea behind this one lyrically and musically was to try and put that emotion/feeling into a musical context. It's why the lyrics don't start until the second time into the verse riff. You're waiting, and you know you need to act, but something is just holding you back -- you just feel kind of stuck.
Chickamauga: This one is all instrumental. I had written the main riff that is throughout the song one night and brought it to James at a practice. We really didn't know where to go with it, so for the EP we recorded it live and just let whatever came up get included on the EP. I named it "Chickamauga" after the second bloodiest battle in the Civil War that took place just south of Chattanooga. With the build-up in the song, it's kind of like a soldier waiting for the battle to take place, then the chaos, then silence either from surviving the melee or dying. It's probably one of the tracks that will stick out the most because it doesn't really fit the "genre."
The Levee: I wrote this song with the thought of losing someone you love, the death of a close partner or family member. That one person you feel like you can't live without. I also love the riffs in this song. They groove well and the ending riff is super fun to play.
Mountain Cur: The final track on the EP is essentially about a lone wolf or stray dog that roams the mountains and hills. The intention was to use it as a metaphor for loneliness. This dog is all alone and has no one. He's committing these acts of violence as cry out for help and companionship. Don't know if it comes across this way, but that was the intention! Also, at the beginning is audio from a scene in Lawless (2012), which is a film about the Bondurant brothers who were outlaws moonshiners in rural Virginia in the '20s during Prohibition.

QuaranTeen Wolf Viewing: S1 EP8 Part 1
Stiles gets Scott drunk to help soothe his pain over the break up with Allison. Stiles’s voice cracks adorably while he is wasted, it is precious.
This is all very cute, but it seems like another drawback of being a werewolf is that either you can’t get drunk or it’s a lot harder to get drunk. Scott soberly broods.
Stiles talks about Lydia and also about being alone, BUT THEN BULLIES ARRIVE ON THE SCENE!
Harsh. But I like that this continues the theme of dangerous human villains being marked by their hats. Recall that the rando who beat Scott up (when he believed Scott had keyed his car) was wearing a flat cap.
The bullies steal the booze! But then Scott flashes his were eyes, gets the bottle back...and then throws it against a tree. We scene jump to Scott and Stiles heading to their car, so I guess the confrontation ended peacefully after the alcohol was destroyed.
But wait a minute. We return to the bullies who are still roaming the woods, looking for other victims to bully! When the Alpha shows up and straight up throws one of them into a fire!! And murders the other one offscreen I think??
If anyone dares to try to pin this on Derek too so help me god...
Scott wakes up later in the week. His radio tells us that school has been closed for two days and that the police are looking for Derek.
Scott’s mom comes in and continues to be very likable and offer support to her sad son. Scott rebuffs her.

Chris & Kate Argent drive Allison to school. Chris is being overprotective and basically not letting Allison out of the car until Kate intervenes.
I have to say I’m impressed by the way Kate and Chris are being portrayed as characters. I’m so so wary of both of them but then also the fam interactions can be really fun. The writing here feels a bit more organic than with some of the other threads going on. Like hey these people are horrifying menaces to our main characters but also they are a family with real desires and cares in this world. Yay for some nuance!
Kate tries to say something to Chris and he babbles defensively about how Kate was right, they should have acted sooner, he put Allison in danger. Kate’s like, “I was just gonna say u need gas.”
Argent comedy hour over here.
Allison and Lydia chat and let the audience know that no one knows they were the ones at the school the other night. Allison is concerned she made the wrong choice breaking up with Scott, but Lydia points out that he locked them in a classroom and left them for dead. “He’s lucky we’re not pressing charges or making him pay for our therapy bill.” LOL.
Sheriff is also at the school, and Stiles asks him if they’ve found Derek yet. He warns his father to be extra careful (bc of the full moon), and his father assures him that he’s brought in the big guns in the form of a state detective.
Well, I for one feel safer already.
Scott/Stiles/Allison all take a test. Scott can’t concentrate bc of his Allison angst + werewolf senses going into overdrive (presumably intensified as the full moon approaches. Good detail!)
Scott flees the classroom. Stiles goes after him immediately, test be damned! That is friendship, y’all.
He finds Scott in the boy’s locker room (the favorite set location by far) having a sexy breakdown. I’m not complaining that we have had a lot of shirtless Scott this ep, but it feels bittersweet given the circumstances.
Scott tells Stiles he can’t breathe, so Stiles roots around in Scott’s backpack for his inhaler. I find it charming / a really good detail that Scott is still carrying his inhaler. He’s not fully confident about his new powers and not fully accepting of the changes IN HIS LIFE AND BODY. And I love that Stiles knows exactly where the inhaler is. And that Stiles is like ‘hey actually you’re having a panic attack, but I distracted you by making you think it was an asthma attack!’ and he talks about how he had panic attacks after his mom died. My heart.
Stiles suggests that the heightened senses / reactions / panic attack are because of the full moon. Scott says that they need to do more during the full moon than just lock him in his room because if they don’t he might kill someone!
In the next scene, there is some sort of big hunter meeting going on AND STATE DETECTIVE IS THERE!!!
They talk about whether or not Allison will be a target and how they have to protect lives during the full moon.
Chris explains, “An Alpha is like any other werewolf on a full moon. It struggles under its sway, which means tonight is our best chance to catch it—when it’s unfocused.”
They discuss that it’s unlikely Derek will show up tonight. Allison’s mom enters the room with cookies and says they should cut Derek in half if they see him. She then offers cookies. EEEK!
Jackson finds Allison eating lunch and...wipes food off her lips and then eats the food...I know he’s trying to be sexy, but yuck! Instead of fleeing in horror, Allison thanks him.
Jackson’s neck continues to bother him. In my haste to worry about Scott, I forgot to worry about how Jackson would be handling the full moon.
Scott is eavesdropping outside the cafeteria as Jackson tells Allison she did the right thing dumping Scott/that he got what he deserved. Scott cracks a wall with his head!?!?!
We then switch to a comedic scene in the locker room (again, the fav set piece) where, thanks to a pink eye outbreak, there are some new folks on first line. Stiles is overjoyed to find he is one of the lucky guys!
Scott is made co captain with Jackson, much to Jackson’s chagrin.
Danny, the voice of reason, tells Jackson that it doesn’t matter who the captain of the team is. He tells Jackson to get a grip. Danny is great, can we get more of him??
Stiles and Scott discuss this dramatic turn of events, and Scott reveals he can smell jealousy. Stiles is like CAN YOU ALSO SMELL DESIRE? The answers to these questions are crucial because they could potentially form the basis to an enormous number of fics.
Stiles asks Scott to go talk to Lydia about him and see if he can smell desire from her.
In a strange turn of events, Scott takes Lydia into a private classroom and asks if Allison is still into him. Lydia says that Allison will always like him as a friend, but that Lydia knows Allison made a huge mistake. Scott was protecting them, and Lydia is into that...so she starts making out with Scott?? This has to be connected to the way Jackson has been acting with Allison, right?? Or can Lydia smell that new Lacrosse Captain smell on Scott?? Is she somehow also being affected by the full moon?

I agree the suicide scene was just cringe (but i think i remember reading somewhere that they cut it out? idk) and overall this show just gave me the feeling that there was no hope and things are always getting worse instead of better and i hated that. but enough of that cursed show. can i just say i really admire how open you are about your feelings (like being suicidal and that) i realy, really admire this about you. i have so much respect for you that you can just share your feelings here (2)
I have never heard of ace attorney but that story you described sounds really good. and i get reading sth that isnt good for you and still doing it (because im a dumb bitch too :D) -- okay i might accept that Root will never grow on you (but i thought so too and look at me now :D) but i havent fully given up yet :)-- yes thats the girl. i think it was really sweet when she said that to Shaw. and i think Shaw appreciated it that someone tried to figure her out instead of just writting her off (3)

her death and them losing the library it felt like a different show (i mean i guess it was a different show then). i kinda get your feelings about the destroyed library because i also really loved it (and im really bad with change) but i dont think it affected me as much as you. but yeah i still missed the library very much. and while the subway is a really cool new place its not the same. Yes he is everything! such a great, interesting character and i wish there were more John-centric episodes! (like ones that explored his character more). that was one of my biggest dislikes of the later seasons that John wasnt featured as much anymore. i think he chuckled a few times in the show but a real laugh? i cant remember one :( -- He did promise Joss to talk to Tyler so @show were is that talk? -- if seen the vid its awesome! thehiddenmemory has some great poi vids! Like Grace would probably be relived and thankful that Harold is still alive and maybe they would even try again but eventually she would figure out that she cant trust him after lying to him for so long or sth like that and Harold would ofc realize that he is in love with someone else now. And then he finds out that John is still alive but stayed away cause he didnt want to get in the way of Harold/Grace. But then Harold comes back. And when they meet again John is like (7)

The portrayal of suicide is cringe most of the time anyway. If my suicidal ass can find a list of suicide methods and their lethality in 2 mins on Google you'd think writers who are supposed to do some research would be able to find them too but no they're like "ah yes slicing wrists" even though it's literally the shittiest method 🙄 (I just don't understand why slicing wrists seems to be such a popular method in the collective imagination ? It's weird.) At least in 13rw she took aspirin and cut herself vertically instead of horizontally but still, no hesitation wounds, and she dies even though she only got 4 wounds iirc ? I know more about jumping off bridges than slicing wrists, but it kinda sounds like bullshit to me. Also Netflix once suggested "beyond the reasons" to me, it's a sort of discussion with the cast and crew of 13rw and the only thing I remember is a moment of intellectual masturbation abt how they "opened a discussion abt suicide" 😬😬😬
They may have cut it out it's not impossible, idk I didn't hear about it, but it's not like I look for info about this dumpster fire lol. Maybe they faced backlash ? Wouldn't be surprised given how shit the show was. And yeah it has a hopeless vibe, I mean that's how it be when you're suicidal, but I didn't like it either.
You're sweet 💜💜 it's interesting that you find it respectable or admirable, I don't have an external point of view, so I'm just like 🤷 it is what it is. I understand where you're coming from though, I guess it's still quite a taboo subject, and suicidal people don't always feel comfortable talking about it, so me throwing around that I jumped off a bridge must be surprising. I'm detached enough from my suicide attempt that I'm able to talk about it without much of a problem, and I'm not really suicidal anymore.

Also, remember how we talked abt the poi subreddit ? The other day I left a comment on there, wild I know. It wasn't a discussion about the last seasons though, I'm not crazy, it was about the impact poi had in our lives so I said it literally taught me English. Who knows maybe sometimes I'll comment again lol. I just don't wanna meet one of those people who prefer late poi over early poi.

Harold is eating breakfast with Grace in her kitchen – he can't think of her home as his home – when his phone vibrates. It's a text from the machine. It's a surprise, she barely contacted him since... He blocks the thoughts and the images coming to his mind. The machine sent him a picture. When he opens it, his heart misses a beat. Right here on his screen is a silhouette he thought he would never see again. His phone vibrates again. Another picture, this time it's unmistakably John, wearing his signature suit, Bear next to him. Transfixed, he stares at his phone until he feels Grace gently touching his arm. She goes straight to the point.
"Is it John ?" He looks up in confusion, but before he can say anything, she adds, "I hear you call him in your sleep every night."
"It's him, yes." He doesn't want to explain. He only wants to see John, to touch him, to tell him how much he loves him.
"You should go back to him. I like you, Harold. I am deeply relieved to see you alive. But I've been thinking, and... It's not working. This, us... You aren't really the man I fell in love with, the man I grieved... I can't trust you anymore." She doesn't say 'You lied to me' but Harold hears it all the same.

Harold sits on their bench. The machine indicated John often comes here. Soon enough, his arms are full of Bear, and John is standing in front of him.
"John. How are you ?" he asks when Bear finally calms down.
"Busy. And you ?"
Harold eyes him suspiciously – John once said he was busy when he was bleeding and way too close to death – but he seems to be well.
"I'm fine." He doesn't have time for awkward small talk." I thought you were dead. Why didn't you contact me ?"
"The machine told me you were with Grace. I thought you wanted to come back to your previous life. I didn't want to crash into it and ruin what you had."
Harold wants to be angry at him, but he understands. He did the same with Grace.
"You would never ruin anything. Besides, my relationship with Grace... didn't survive my lies. She's very dear to my heart, but she's a part of my previous life, as you said."
"So you came back for the machine, and the numbers, like the good old times ?"
Harold gets up from the bench.
"I came back for you. You are an important part of my life. The most important part."
John smiles, finally. He takes a step towards Harold, they're so close they could kiss. Harold reaches out, grips his shirt and slowly inches closer. He's still afraid of being rejected but John wraps his arm around him and kisses him. The kiss is over too soon. John's smile is even wider when they part.
"You're the most important part of my life too," he says before kissing Harold again. "You will stay ?"
"Always."
Damn I live for sappy Rinch stuff.

My current one pick is Song HyeongJun (I think we’re talking about the same person, the names are always so tricky, cause people spell them differently everywhere), anyways he was the dance leader in X class! What can I say, I’m just a sucker for troubled leader storylines (hence my pick in pd48 was Chowon).
I think at this time most people will have similar faves, just because mnet has only shown us a couple of trainees in detail so far.

I totally agree with this, it's not that I don't want criticism about series 11, because I know it has flaws but the discussion around it has been so full of vitriol that it's been off putting. Especially since I like to go out and search for meta and all I keep getting is condescending vitriol.
Exactly! Lots of shows have a form of neverending battle within fandom, like who is your fav Captain on Star Trek. And so with Doctor Who there are some fans who have this one absolute One True Doctor and nobody will ever measure up. And this consense of “we all hate this one ep and we all love this other”. And yeah, okay, so don’t touch a few points. But with Thirteen this reached a new height. It’s like you have to either be for or against her, no in-between. The moment you say “I like it, but the way this conflict was solved was a let down” antis will jump out “aHA, so you admit it’s not perfect, so it must have problems all over the place and DW was never this bad before”. ??????????????
I’m not that much of a fan of must of Twelve’s run. I don’t like how to me Clara feels like three or four characters rolled into one. But even when I felt somewhat meh about it all, I found dozens of little things to still enjoy. And I’d watch most eps again (not Kill the Moon though). There were still parts I did enjoy, although I just disregard the larger context of what happened before. I don’t need to pretend that the show was ever perfect before. Also S10 happened and it had me really fall back in love with the show. The missing spark came back and all is well.
Yes, Thirteen is different. Every Doctor is always a bit different. Has been this way since forever. And sorry that Chibnall had his big GOTCHA moment. When he said he’d go back to the roots, he went back all the way to One. And by having Thirteen be a woman we can see some of the flaws of time-travel-is-always-so-fun. Not so nice being dismissed, is it now? Three companions, a more family friendly approach, stand-alone adventures, not relying on epic moments that are only epic because of an established backstory... how could this be Doctor Who, right? ;)
It’s so frustrating how the middleground is lost. And it’s happening with a lot of (especially genre) shows. Happening to Star Trek Discovery too. omg there is so much I don’t enjoy about it, but also a lot I really love. I have my own criticism, but I’m not blind to the good stuff - and vice versa.

I DONT get more joy out of this season than s1, I adore them equally for their comedy and depth. I’m glad for the added depth and the ‘meh’ episodes aren’t bad enough to negate the great joy granted to me by the god episodes!

Do kids really wanna watch a god damn episode of a cartoon about some underappreciated professional adult man with a boring life and his wife, I DON’T FUCKING CARE!!!! lemonhope is nobody to me, and I don’t care, I don’t care about Ice King and some lady island, and bad timing just makes me so frustrated because again, it doesn’t. Entertain me. You’re both devoid of background and all the characters I value and have emotional debt with ain’t there, And, HUMOR. ISN’T EVEN THERE?? If you’re gonna do some conversational introspective thoughtful shit you need to do it about Marcy or Finn or someone I care about!!! I don’t give a shit about Root Beer Guy or Banana Man or Ice King as an individual on his own. That’s mmmmme.
But I love the eps I love and there’s still a good ratio of shenanigans and silly cute and funny things. Good Finn amount. Not much Marcy this season tho? Sad. Good PB embellishment. 7/10?

s6 Starts strong because I love Wake Up/Citadel, but again really starts Increasing with the episodes wasted on C-Listers I can’t bring myself to care about at the EXPENSE of less and less silly, goofy, fun shenanigans episodes. This season was so off the rails with stuff like giuseppe, sad face, evergreen, the diary, chips & ice cream, floaties, hoots etc etc that when Ghost Fly and Dentist happened I was SO excited and felt like it had been 100 years since I’d seen episodes like that, that is to say simple contained little adventures with Finn being silly. Ghost Fly I was just, SO happy for an ep set in the treehouse with Finn & Jake again, which says a lot!! I shouldn’t have to feel that way, they’re THE mains.... I literally don’t give a shit about the Orgalorg arc, martin, & its conclusion, AND this is REALLY when the, margles and betty shit escalates and will continue to haunt me for the rest of time as it refuses to release is talons from the series. The episodes I like are really the solemn few that focus on Finn/Jake or even fuckin’ PB. Who gets more development I enjoy, at least!
I’m honestly gonna say like 3/10 for this because few things make me more angry than Chips&Ice Cream or giuseppe or sad face (which is just a reference to another cartoon i legit have always hated, ren & stimpy) or on the lam which i wish i could burn at the stake for its uselessness to me. As much as I like SOME eps from this season, I don’t like ANY episodes AS much as I like, say, What Was Missing or even Marceline’s Closet or Jake Suit in terms of entertainment/joy.

And Hall of Egress is contained to almost exclusively Finn which is great!! Good focus!! This season doesn’t spiral too far away!! 8/10?? Because I resent you for cherry cream soda I have to dock points. More good PB development too! Wewt!

Which is tragic when I love to laugh. Let’s say 7/10 because it doesn’t have much Marcy? and I don’t like islands half as much as Stakes, mostly Jake is hilarious in Islands which saves it. But it doesn’t make me as mad... as 5-6... so....

The Wild Hunt is it. 2/10 because that’s a baaaaad ratio and the simon/betty in the finale makes me too frustrated to experience pleasure

I feel like I should preface this with something you already know, which is that MaSo and I have a very complicated relationship, yoho. Part of it traces back to him being an incompetent dweeb who just refuses to learn, part of it, and I am self-aware to admit it, comes down to the fact that his works are quite a lot in line with what Arthur and Arden used to put out, at least in terms of villains bending over backwards as no costume/charade/masquerade is too silly, no plan is too contrieved to achieve their villanous goal. This always was a turn-off for me (which is way I tend to avoide 90% of the classics altogether), and as dear ol’ MaSo’s characters are like classic characters only exaggerated by a thousand, we were bound to bump into disagreements.
Furthermore, I think it’s important to notice that my utter anger and disappointment and frustration with his ‘Phantom aus dem Meer’ was the reason why I quit reading new DDF novels for years, which, knowing my poor taste, does say a lot. Genre fiction and generic writing are fine alright, but if every character and every intro reads the same, and, even WORSE, if every ending has the three of them stuffing their faces with cake and cookies, just so that somebody can make a silly fat joke, I’mma come after you. Ugh UGH UUGGHHH!
That said, I deem it important to at least point out that MaSo’s writing does have its moments his good works even have plenty of them (for once, I think he’s great when it comes to group interactions with all three), it’s just a shame that he doesn’t seem to be able to finish one script without adding at least one element that’d driving me up the walls.
Also I just realized that I never clarified if we base our choices on Buch oder Hörspiel, but since I haven’t even read all of his works, and don’t remember too many details of the ones I did, I’m mainly going by audio.
#1 – Der tote Mönch
I know, I knooowww. It’s also generic as hell, and the ending including the villain having a Monk-moment is not very original, but …it’s such a happy ep?! Nobody is pissed at the other one, nobody gets hurt or kidnapped, they’re collaborting really well. Christine is the nicest Auftraggeberin ever, the scene when they have a lil stake-out in the garden and the old catacombs (or whatever it was), is properly scary and atmospheric, yet also humorous, they get to play the ‘we’re working on a school project, could you please give us access to xyz’ which is always a fav (and which is something a lot of authors seem to shy away from bc they keep having the audio version in mind where any mention of school tends to get cut buy Minninger bc the dudes sound too old). And I know they do have cake at the end, but it’s one of the more endearing ones mainly bc Christine is so charming aahh. Know that I’ve typed it out it sounds like a lame and underwhelming ep, and maybe in MaSo’s case this is a good thing, bc once he mutes his exaggeration to a decent level, his strengths get to shine more prominently. (Bonus point: this has nothing to do with MaSo but remember when Heikedine was so determined to get a native speaker to voice Lo that she hired her Akkupunkteur, good times)
#2 – Haus des Schreckens
I agree with your reasons, plus, once again: group dynamics. This is like, if MaSo has good ideas, they’re usually great. The setup with them being guides for this spooky weekends is amazing, and this is probably one of the funniest openings to a DDF episode ever! I’ve always been a sucker for the clash of excentric v down-to-earth individuals finding themselves on lockdown (shoutout to Nevis’ Höhle des Grauens), and I think this pack here is equally interesting. Also the Marriot House, love me a setting that, both in-text and on a meta level, is rooted in a narrative that is part myth, part horror story, partly drawing from real events. The suspense/thrill build-up is awesome, I am fully with you on the getting scared matter. My main regret is that the tension drops at one point, which also seems to affect the pacing, so that the last third feels too dragging for my taste. (Also riddles hhnnggaaa I HATE RIDDLES IN DDF AND I ESPECIALLY HATE MASO RIDDLES BC HE HAS NEVER WRITTEN A DECENT ONE EVER. Until this very day, I’ll just be minding my day and then get war flashbacks to the ‘Petra Scassage - Secret Passage’ anagram FUCK OFF MARCO)

For no other erason than that this ep is completely delusional, but at least in a super fun way, and adapted so that it doesn’t drag at all, and I can just enjoy all the nonsense without having to get angry.
My honorary mentions are: Der schwarze Skorpion (which should be higher up on my list, it’s actually really really good), Schlucht der Dämonen (it’s been a while since I last listened to itk, but heck, he sends the three on a day-long riding trip in the wilderness, I am lovin it by default, and Schrecken aus dem Moor, which has one of the scariest beginnings ever, but I remember the pace deteriorating into a lot of blahblahblah pretty soon.)

ok SO heres my initial thoughts&feelings after literally just having finished the new bojack season
- ANA IS BACK!!!!! my fav character and ya i wont say she was being the greatest but i lov her and the fact that she was back makes me happy if only because it means supporting chars dont have to be obsolete once theyre not playing an active part in the life of a main character
- speaking of, im glad we saw ralph and stefani again. i liked him and pc and its fine if theyre not back 2gether but i wish they couldve worked it out or at least have gotten closure. him an\d stefani are nice characters and who knows? im jst glad theyre not gone
- im sad abt pb and diane, man. not to sound like some het apologist here but jst like w pc and ralph i liked them! at first i liked that pb wasnt bojack but over the seasons i grew to like them and i knew theyd divorce but im jst sad abt it all and esp that pb proposed to pickles as if that wont be his fourth marriage. i wanna see angry pb, hurt pb, real pb learning from his mistakes and if he cant do that to the point of a fourth marriage .. he said hes an old dog who wont learn new tricks but this aint working for me. i wanna see ‘bojack how could you kiss my girlfriend’ pb, ‘do they know things ft zach braff why dont you like me’ pb, ‘crying over my brothers twisted spleen’ pb. the good thing abt this show is that characters can be archetypes like pb is the foil to bojacks cynic, but they are allowed to be more than that, and im sad that pb didnt get to be more than that. i genuinely feel like theyre wasting him as a character in moments like the proposal
- speaking of wasted potential, todds arc was a boring mess. listen i didnt care abt this arc in the first place but the least you can do is not have it be all over the place! s4 did a better job at the whole ace storyline and this whole thing was a mess. also, the whole meeting yolandas parants thing was rly cringey and i think i like todd at his best in his more serious roles when he interacts w bojack, which he rarely does these days. i liked him living w pc though, it was nice
- pcs arc is amazing and i lov her character every single season! she deserves happiness and her focus episodes and arcs hit every damn time! its never bad! the amelia earhart story was one of my favourite episodes this season, if not my favourite. on a sidenote, the ending credits were amazing. in general i loved the different versions of back in the 90s but that one was my fav
- i also loved the ep w diane going to vietnam and it was a rly nicely paced episode and im glad they do justice to smth serious that people can relate to. ive heard ppl say good things and it was jst. it was good
- free churro was a ride and i think it was a good one but also its. its hard to place obviously. but it didnt bore me which i think was the one thing it needed to avoid being so thats good
- ppl put bojack in this list of chars men look up to that are actually pieces of garbage; rick sanchez, walter white, etc. id say now theres no way to excuse this shit anymore but look at what happened in bb, even walter saying hes the bad guy still had people liking him more than skylar because society hates women lol. but im uncomfortable w what he did. a lot more than i ever was w what happened to penny and sarah lynn. in fact i dont even blame him for what happened to sarah lynn when they were on a mutual bender of destruction! penny obviously was entirely on him. but how can i watch a show w a main character that has such a long ass list of shitty things and still root for him? everyone roots for bojack to be okay as opposed to in bb where you end up rooting against walt and for jesse (and logically skylar but hey. ppl didnt get the memo that abusers shouldnt be picked over female characters) but you root for bojack because the show is abt his mental health issues, substance abuse, etc. his struggle. and you want him to be better not as a farce but because you cant watch someone spiral out of control for ten seasons. and im not sure i can root for someone that chokes a woman. but also i saw it happen like an hr ago so i need to process basically the entire season! its. its a lot

Painful Beauty Defines New Sound

The Moth Gatherer was born in Stockholm in 2008, the creative vision of Victor Wegeborn and Alex Stjernfeldt. In mid-2010, they began recording A Bright Celestial Light -- a dark affair about loss and grief. By April of 2013, their debut was picked up by Agonia Records and given a wonderful release. Two years later, The Moth Gatherer gave rise to a second record: The Earth Is The Sky. This highly acclaimed album featured guest appearances from heavy underground favs Terra Tenebrosa, Monolord, and Kongh and received airtime on national and international radio.
After this success and a subsequent period of rumination, The Moth Gatherer decided time was ripe for a third release. "After The Earth Is The Sky," the band says, "we felt like we needed to push our limits, while not forgetting our roots. The music and lyrics are supposed to feel like painful beauty and to provoke reflection. The themes revolve around an inner search, a way to rise while being pushed down by depression."
Enter 'The Comfortable Low' (2017). I would lie if I said I wasn't completely stoked when I first heard news of this release, anticipating great things from the band. After all, the Moth has given us two great full-lengths and the new EP is no exception.
There are guest appearances here, as well, namely contributions from celebrated singers Dennis Lyxzén of Refused and Fred Burman from Satan Takes A Holiday. I was surprised by these absolutely fantastic vocal efforts, especially from Dennis, who gives the finest performance I've heard from him in ages.
The Comfortable Low by The Moth Gatherer
The Comfortable Low exposes the listener to new influences, but also transports us back to the genesis of Moth. This epic journey divides into two parts: "This Providence of Bones" (with Dennis Lyxzén) and "Still Life Slumbers Here" (featuring Fred Burman). I can state confidently that this is the best material the band has released so far. The new EP pushes boundaries, resulting in some of the most gorgeous post-metal I have yet encountered. To spice it up a bit, The Moth Gatherer inject some epic ambient and electronic tones into the music. It's a genius move, providing a lot of interesting variation to these songs.
From time to time, I listen to bands like The Moth Gatherer as a kind of therapy. This music gives me the opportunity to deal with situations in ordinary life that threaten to bring me down. After spinning The Moth Gatherer's new EP, my life seems to be darker than ever; but in a strange way, I feel sunshine inside and that’s not bad at all. These four flavour their post-metal with heavy, gorgeous guitar technique and a mix of harsh and clean vocals that can only be described as majestic. Just as I’m about to burst into tears from the tension the song is song building inside of me, everything stops for a moment. This pause beckons the arrival of a crescendo designed to usher me into ambient breathing space. A very effectual moment, indeed!

My only drawback about the new stuff is that it's way too short. This is not entirely strange, considering this material is a kind of trial balloon testing the Moth's comfort in travelling down new roads. Take the journey with The Comfortable Low and I think you'll discover, as did I, that The Moth Gatherer's innovative sound predicts a very bright future for the band.
