author reclist: toomuchplor

a few months ago, when i was coming back to fandom in earnest, i came across this post from @sitp-recs. explorations of faith, divinity and worship are some of the tropes i find most furiously compelling, so i had to jump into o come, all ye faithful as soon as possible. i did, only to fall headfirst in obsessive, wide-eyed, awe-inspired love. @toomuchplor writes a desire that's both slow and heady, relentless and gentle, all-consuming and a rest stop to breathe easy. i couldn't help but read through (most of) their catalogue in a matter of days. this author's thematic range is astonishing, their characterisations lead to delicious stories where two headstrong, wilful and perennially longing men crash, fumble and rush into achingly sweet love and burning lust.

what always spools me in with plor, though, is their use of circumstance, especially in longer fics. every fic has a premise iron-clad in its fascinating, inventive, raw and exciting potential. more often than not, i've found them doing something i haven't encountered before in fandom at all, or reworking a popular trope in ways that make you go, 'oh. oh, i never thought about that happening, how did i never think of that happening?'

i've loved everything i've read from them, but here's a selection of some of my absolute favourites that i'll be going back to, over and over:

i've got a beautiful feeling (everything's going my way) (E, 3.5k)

“I’ve got such a boner,” Harry says, voice scratchy, just slitting his eyes open now, turning his head on his pillow to face Draco. “Oh, lovely, good morning to you, too,” Draco says.

a slice of life like the plush inside of a ripe mango— a love that's mature, constant, beating like a strong heart. the filthy, hilarious, gorgeous portrait of harry and draco's married life— the familiarity of sex, the rush of wanting each other as much as ever.

o come, all ye faithful & all the angels cry amen (E, ~22k total)

In which Draco finds faith in the church, and Harry finds faith in Draco.

an achingly tender rumination on faith as love, and love as worship. one of the most heartbreaking and realistic depictions of the reckoning it would take for harry potter to accept he has found refuge and rest in draco malfoy's arms. i loved the non-chronological, dual timeline storytelling— that particular form works so well when there's a taut, twinging thread holding both narratives together, and harry and draco's gravitational attraction to each other, fraught in parts and at peace in others was the perfect anchor.

time and too much don't belong together (E, 23k)

A Malfoy family heirloom gets triggered in a raid, binding Draco Malfoy to Ron Weasley; neither of them is too chuffed about this.

a masterclass in revelations. the reader can tell, from the outset, there's more here than meets the eye. the reader can also guess, from the beginning, what the dynamic in the shadows is. tense and breathtaking writing, you know what's coming, but every time you're fed a morsel you cling to it with both hands. one of the most inventive takes i've seen on the lust potion/spell trope in this fandom, and done in a way that makes you want to see it over and over and over again.

polar night/midnight sun (E, 54k)

Harry travels to arctic Norway on the trail of dragon egg poachers, only to find he's been assigned to work alongside the only NorMagPol Auror north of sixty: one Draco Malfoy. It's been ten years since they crossed paths, and Malfoy isn't exactly what Harry expected or remembered. For one thing, he wears a lot more hand-knits? When a sudden winter storm strands the pair, unable to use magic to rescue themselves, they take shelter in a one-room Norwegian hytte.

exquisitely atmospheric. uses extenuating circumstances in some of the most delicious ways. builds character and interpersonal dynamics through those small little elements of storytelling (draco in knitwear! brynjar the dog! the mundane pillowtalk! the quirks of their miscommunication!) that go the longest way in having characters leap off the screen into your personal space. also the sex in this is absolutely mind-blowing, i was hooked on every glorious word.

truth to materials (co-written by lately) (E, 58k)

In which Harry learns to appreciate art and other pleasures of the flesh.

decadent. in premise, in language, in characterisation, just absolutely decadent. this version of harry, bewildered and captivated by draco's out-there artistry is one of the funniest and most endearing i've encountered in fic, ever. his head, so full of determination and good intentions and terribly flawed and completely believable thinking, was such a brilliant place to set this fic. and draco— lord. you know that moment of transition, that click, when a piece of art goes from something untouchable and distant to a soulful thing you keep close because you recognise it as a cultural, emotional response? this fic felt like a literary project trying to capture that click, except it's a shift in perspective about a person. draco— the cool, untouchable, subversive artist who becomes irrevocably, warmly, achingly human.

probationary action (E, 63k)

As part of the terms of the probationary contract, DRACO LUCIUS MALFOY shall submit for inspection his WAND on the last day of every month, such inspection to be carried out by a duly registered and fully qualified AUROR in the employ of the MINISTRY OF MAGIC, and such inspection to include a PRIORI INCANTATEM spell to ensure that no PROHIBITED MAGICS as heretofore described have been practised by the aforementioned probationer.

*incoherent screaming*. a fic that starts with a premise so lighthearted and filthy that you think it's going to be a long, kinky fic about two rather hilariously perverted men getting it on, except it also gets into some of the most resonant discussions of post-war revenge tactics and human rights neglect i've ever read. the dynamic between harry and draco is simultaneously so light and so weighted, this is a fic that holds you down and keeps you there till you're done.

in conclusion: an entrancing author, a gift of a writer. i can't wait to see what else they have in store for this fandom.

Genshin: When you’re cold [V1]

Whenever I write these it’s always when I have a pile of requests on my desk that I said I was going to get to but never do. I even missed a day yesterday because I crashed and burned and slept the entire day haha. Might miss today too since I’m going out to see my mum.

This is like 90% crack and 10% actual content. I’m gonna post this and proceed to have shock therapy and wipe it from my memory.

I just want to be happy and it’s cold af where I live. I’ve also learned from maagdalen that Russia is insane with snow.

By the time he’s back, he seems so proud of himself for killing a dragonspine yeti that you don’t have the heart to tell him that was literally not what you wanted or expected him to do. Your fingers are about to break their finger kneecaps. pLEASE sir just hold my hand.

Bad idea, he’s been outside in the cold and he’s not exactly wearing mittens so your fingers end up colder. But you’re finally holding his hand that you suck it up and cry when he does actually break your fingers because he doesn’t know what muscle control is.

Ruthless business woman one second and then you show up, tell her you’re cold, and she’s reduced to flustered mother hen. All she has on her are these long sleeves that all Qixing wear. Would you like some warm milk? She knows you like your milk heated to a simmer right at 187.7975 degrees Fahrenheit.

Okay, first off, who measures in fahrenheit anymore this is China Liyue. Second off, how the hell does she know that and why is it so precise? She’s already throwing whatever Liyue duties she had back at the poor worker that has no idea what possessed the normally confident and admirable Keqing into this...creature. Making new plans for a heating system in Liyue while also coddling you.

Catch her outside at 3am pounding the snow ground, crying, as she curses Rex Lapis for making it so cold in Liyue when he’s not even the Cyro archon. Zhongli sneezed while looking over papers burning the 3am oil. Maybe he needs to go home before it gets too cold, he might be getting sick.

Diluc

God you’re such an idiot. Didn’t you see how hard the snow was falling? I can’t believe I married someone with 2 braincells. Are you trying to give me a heart attack? What would father in the sky think if my partner died because of frost bite when I’m a goddamn pyro vision user? I can commit arson to make a make-shift fire place, I have the money for the damages.

She thinks she saw some boar’s in the forest, she can make her specialty and that should warm you right up! So sweet, so wholesome. Don’t worry this baron bunny won’t explode in your face, she tripled checked she wasn’t giving you a dancing bomb.

While you’re huddled around a summoning circle of baron bunny’s, nice and warm, is when she relaxes and joins you. She grins to herself and pats herself on the shoulder. See that haters, she can make her partner nice and happy without your #buffamberwhen.

You’re cold? Maybe you’ve just fallen so hard for him that whenever you think of him you get cold. He never knew you cared so much it’s so cut- okok you can stop hitting him now. He’ll offer his scarf if he had one but Diluc might have burned it but he does have his tit window.

Basically impenetrable, you could bounce bullets off it so naturally the cold bounces off. You have to tell him up front that he sound borderline crazy and the fbi are already at his door. The fbi is Diluc. So instead he offers his overcoat and asks you if you would like to join him in some cozy tavern that hopefully has heating.

It’s a nice and comforting experience until he drags you to Angel share and you know it’s just to 1v1 Diluc in the parking lot.

This entire post was just for me to say tit window because I didn’t get to say it in my last Kaeya fic.

Wow, I wonder which characters I like in genshin. Could it be “wow I hate everything and everyone don’t fucking touch me” male characters??? Could it be “Head strong but are secretly adorable” female characters?? Kaeya is only there because Diluc is there.

I had to redo all my headers because everyone was taking up so much space in their 240p quality. Keqing is the only one that actually stepped forward when it was picture day. I don’t have enough energy to care about sizing I’m sorry.

Since I was lucky enough to get tickets to go watch Yu Yu Hakusho in Fukuoka next month, I figured I could bring with me some letters from overseas people less lucky who couldn’t come, and drop them in the gift box at the theater.

I had already done so in March when I went to see the stage adaptation of Dororo, but this time the goal is to do it on a larger scale and bind all the letters together in a little pamphlet-like book (it’s bound to attract more attention than regular letters and thus get a higher chance to be noticed and read ;)).

Basically, I will collect the letters (via message/email) until September 6 and have them printed the next day in a A4 book-like pamphlet.

A few people have contacted me already with several questions that other people may also be wondering about so I’ll put the answers here too:

◦ Who can participate? → Anyone who wants to.

◦ Is it free? → Yes, it is free, unless you want your fan letter/fan art to be printed in colour/high quality (because I will have to go and have them printed in a printing shop and the fee is about 100Y/page)

◦ I want to write something but I have no idea/inspiration... → Please go check the discord server (discord.gg/EMBasw2): there is a list of suggestions and you can also exchange ideas with other people there

◦ How can I send you my letter? → You can send it to me via message (not ask because this function doesn’t allow the posting of pictures) here or on the discord server (discord.gg/EMBasw2). Please send your file in the following formats: *.doc, *.jpg, *.png, *.pdf

◦ Can I send some fan art/manuscript letter? → Scanned manuscript letter, typed letter, fan art, scanned drawing, photomontage, etc., you can pick whatever you like. You can also choose the size as long as it doesn’t go over A4 (smaller-sized letters will simply be put at the center of a white page - probably).

◦ How many pages are allowed per person? → I, for one, already struggle to fill up half a page, which is why I hadn’t thought about limiting the number of pages... Let’s say that 3 is the maximum (but it’s open to negociation ^^)

◦ Do I have to write in Japanese? → No, you don’t have to, although it may be nice to put a few words in Japanese, like the greetings for example. If you write in English, however, try and keep the sentences simple and not too long. If you need help to translate something in Japanese, aoihono96 has offered her help (on condition that the content remains short) and you can also ask for help on the discord server (discord.gg/EMBasw2).

1) The cover template has been decided:

The diamonds (in a digitalized version) will be filled with pictures we choose about our part of the world (”Hi” written in our languages, coat of arms of our region/city, famous landmarks/food, etc.). Please send me your pictures if you want to participate, or post them on the chat server dedicated to the project (discord.gg/EMBasw2).

2) The unifying thematic: Theaters around the world

Since there will be a lot of letters/arts/contents very diverse, we needed something to unify everything. That connecting thread will start in a short introduction where there will be mention that since 2.5D content is hard to access from overseas, overseas fans have decided to invite SH to come perform in their countries (it’s half a joke really). :) And each person’s first page will have a little header with the same sentence inviting SH to come in one theater in their county: [Your name/Username]は申す「[Country/City name]の[Theater name]劇場へようこそ！」 The result should look a bit like this:

In the little blue box, you can put one of the picture related to your country that will appear on the cover. You can also put underneath it, on the first half (or 2/3) of the page one/several big picture(s) of the theater in question, plus a couple of interesting facts about it if you fell like it (especially if you don’t know what to write... like me for example XD) and then starting your fan letter bellow it. If you want to do some fan art but are afraid the header will ruin it, just put a big picture of the theater (or several) and put your art on the next page. The header has to appear only on the first page in order to signal to the reader that he’s jumping into a new person’s section.

Hey everyone,

I’ve been absent for some time now. There were a few reasons why I took a break, I wanted one, I needed one. The last few weeks hasn’t been really enjoyable for me tbh. I‌ try to avoid weird stuff which sometimes happens on tumblr but my Club is making it not easier.

BVB has been doing very poor lately as you may have noticed and I haven’t been in any mood to post anything related to them and that has several reasons. When‌ I‌ was a kid and grew up, BVB stood for so many things. They always fought, their will to try and win any game against any important was so inspiring, not only as a football fan, but as an human being itself. We were beasts when it came to pressing and tackles we would give out all and you could see basically the spirit of each player glowing and screaming at the same, you just felt it, that the Team gave their all, nowadays I‌ don’t see nor feel it. Also the way they played football was so attractive, like they just played forward. Nowadays they hold the ball for way too long, it’s a play style which doesn’t suit them at all. Even under Thomas Tuchel who started this whole ‘ball possession’ project we were only dangerous when we added speed into our game, it’s just Dortmunds DNA to play fast forward with lots of pace and combinations, but the more months are passing and the years following we are not really being THAT Dortmund at all anymore and it’s sad to witness it’s really annoying. We are passing the ball way too much, we are less dangerous and we are shooting less which just makes me yawn and sigh at the same time bc it’s unattractive and boring.

Sometimes I watch older videos of how we used to play and it’s making me sad to realize how far away we are to get back to that level. I‌ mean we have the quality but with our latest coaches and especially our current one (Favre) we are not going that road to play that football again. We have quality players and we could be doing so much better I see other clubs playing offensive with certain tactics and line-ups while we just play the same 4-2-3-1 all over, it’s supposed to bring us stability compared to other teams using 4-3-3 for example, but it’s funny how we still concede more goals than other teams do.

Simply bc we are lacking of too many things. Our team looks so fragile like as soon as something doesn’t seem to work out during the game they start to literally sweat and it’s like if we are a tower which tempts to fall apart. I just don’t understand it tbh like how??‌ why??‌ Too many questions and yet 0 answers. I think the players are tired of Favre it’s the same with Kovac and Bayern. Look how successful they are. They won their last 4 games with 16-0 Goals scored and 0 conceded. If that isn’t the proof how tired the Bayern players were of Kovac and basically doing sabotage to get him sacked (playing bad) then idk what else it is.

For me the Team is tired of Favre and it’s understandable. I mean I was probably one of the first People who started the whole #FavreOUT thing and seeing how it developed is no surprise for me. He’s a solid Coach but that’s about it. He does way too many mistakes and lacks of too many things as well it’s no wonder why he hasn’t one really any major trophy (no offense).

I hope that Dortmund will sack him soon and get a new coach. I think our Players would be exactly be like the ones of Bayern, they would be motivated again and they wouldn’t be mind blocked by Favre’s 91882831 tactics. In football it’s important to feel free and not strangled or tied up. For me the players are only getting worse under Favre, while last year a lot of players had improved, I rather saw it as a one-hit-wonder season bc Favre had the momentum of surprise in back when he arrived and the league wasn’t prepared for him, 6 months later tho the league was, hell not even 6, I think earlier and then we started to drop more and more points.

So back to tumblr, For me as a blogger it’s important to enjoy what I do. Dortmund has been a shadow of they used to be, obviously it ruins my mood, which results to blogging being less fun. Then there is Favre who is even worse and makes me roll my eyes. There also some people on Tumblr who are let’s say strange and make my eyebrows move. I try to avoid it like I said above but sometimes it makes me think about why would someone say or think that, but then again everyone can have their own opinion and I respect that.

Overall tumblr is changing for me, a lot of the people I knew left. When I‌ joined this site I felt like a feather and in general felt easy. I could post what I wanted basically, about OTP’s about football and people would be the same. It was like you could be careless basically. Nowadays you get judged for anything, people who bash someone, there will be hate spread. I think it’s good that you need to take care of yourself more now, bc in life you should do that as well, but hey on tumblr?‌ Things have changed, became more difficult. I think on tumblr you could be criticized for anything and that it gives the vibe of living with a fear that not someone will attack you or in general interact with your posts which leads to hate or other stuff is alarming. I sometimes witness stumbling through tumblr those situations when I check out certain blogs or tags that some people shoot at one another and it’s just unnecessarily, but then again, on tumblr everything seems to be normal to do that.

Sometimes people like my older posts and I look at these posts and realize:‌‌ I’m not that blogger anymore. Nor will I‌ ever be that blogger anymore. Time changed, People changed. We move on, We evolve.

Over the years people left, the vibe around tumbr changed and people did as well. Don’t get me wrong I met incredible nice people over the years and I enjoy seeing them on my dash and interacting with them. But overall there is a weird vibe going around tumblr. Too much toxicity, too much hate. I will never understand why people won’t mind their own business. There’s so much drama. I’ve been off tumblr and life has been good. Sometimes I‌ would see stuff on here and it made me question certain things.

I start to ask if this site is still made for me. Seeing that more and more weird things are happening on this site makes me wonder if more people will become like this or that, if more people in general will join this site and will be like that or this. Not gonna give examples, everyone needs to have their own opinion on this site. I don’t know the answer to that tbh but I will once eventually but yeah it’s hard. I’m a person who doesn’t let someone else ruin my fun, but then again which fun? Like in life we sometimes deal with problem and we can solve them but on tumblr?‌ That’s not the case. That’s why on tumblr is hard to keep going. I never understood back then why all the people I used to look up to left, but after a certain moment I‌ understood why.

Coming back to tumblr, I joined this site back then bc of two major reasons and that’s bc I wanted to support my club and my favorite player. My Club like previous mentioned is nothing but a shadow of what they used to be. It’s not for me about winning constantly, don’t think of me like that, it’s like I mentioned, the will to pull of a good fight the desire to win this game at any cost and play their best football, that’s not there. My favorite player?‌ I wonder he can still smile after being benched all over again. He’s such a inspiring person I’m not even kidding, he got benched 6 games in a row and then when he finally started he scored a header (he’s 176 cm)‌ and became Man of the Match during that game. Could you ask for more?‌‌‌ Probably not.

Favre. That’s not only the whole’s Team problem but also Mario’s. Favre is probably the most ungrateful person‌‌ I know. When Marco and Paco where injured last season MARIO was there. He played, he showed off and delivered. When we lost to Bayern 5-0 and he didn’t start Mario he shamelessly admitted in the presse conference afterwards that it was a mistake to not let Mario play. Mario has done so much, fought his way back, but Favre?‌ Favre never trusted Mario. He could have played the game of his life and that would’t have changed anything. Favre just doesn’t trusts Mario and it hurts. Like I could understand if he would does shitty but that’s not the case. Favre gives no no wait, he handles out more opportunities to any other player in the squad when they bottle something up but Mario?‌ He doesn’t do anything wrong and yet he gets always outlined. Favre will always be for me a piece of shit. The fact that he’s so ungrateful makes me explode. Mario Götze did more in 5 minutes in Barcelona than some other players who played nearly or the whole game, enough said.

So yes, Dortmund has been nothing but annoying lately, Favre has gotten me even worse, My favorite player gets treated like a poor dog and Tumblr itself is getting weird, the vibe changes often sometimes it’s fun sometimes it’s not.

Excuse me for my disappearing and my rant. Sometimes certain things are needed to be done.

Hey everyone, just want to explain why I haven’t been as active the last few months and also do an update on some things I have planned for the summer. It’s a little long, so I stuck it under a read more. (tl;dr: read bold sentences)

First, I mentioned about a week ago that I might be busy in May because of an exam I was taking for med school in early June. I decided to push that off until September for a couple reasons. First, I’ll be graduating later this month, and I actually want to enjoy spending time with my family and friends without worrying that I’m wasting my time by not studying. Secondly, as anyone who’s requested art from me the last few months knows, I haven’t exactly been getting those out too quickly. This is due to my focus on my schoolwork and the fact that my health hasn’t been great the last few months. I don’t talk about this too much, but I have an autoimmune condition that flares-up on occasion, causing joint pain and fatigue. It also seems to make it easier for me to get regular colds and sinus infections. Luckily, I am at a point where it’s not super serious, but when it does flare up it causes some issues, and with all of the stress of my final semester of undergrad, it has been a little worse than usual. So basically, I decided not to stress myself out worrying about this exam, which I don’t have to take at any specific time really, so this will let me focus on other things, like my art and job. (I am taking two gap years before I go on to med school, and your application looks much better if during your gap year(s) you are involved in research/ hospital setting (which I am), and if you can show that you put effort into your hobbies that are unrelated to education (which I’ll get into now). So, with all of that out of the way, let’s talk plans.

First, I am excited to announce that I have been given the opportunity to have an Eidolon short comic story published in a magazine! I’ve been posting a lot of character art for it lately, in preparation for applying for this opportunity, so I’m glad it paid off! The short story will be published in June by Saturday AM, a digital shonen manga comic anthology that publishes creators from all over the world, from Nigeria to Hungary to Japan and to the US, etc. You can find them here, and you can also click here to learn about the short story submission process I went through to be selected. They are still accepting applications for more short stories, so if you know anyone who might be interested, send them their way. Also, this Saturday is Free Comic Book Day, and they will be releasing their newest issue, #85, along with some of their older issues for free, so it’s the perfect time to check them out!

Secondly, I’ll be opening commissions soon. I won’t be closing requests or anything like that, because I love interacting with everyone and a paywall would ruin that, but I will be putting the option there. The difference will be that commissions will get priority over anything else I’m working on and the person who commissions me will get the chance to make changes and edits to the art. Also, they’ll be sent a high quality version of the image, including psd files with layers, if they want to practice coloring. It shouldn’t change much, but I just want to put that option out there.

Thirdly, if you’ve visited the Ciperion Chronicles blog, you may have noticed a few aesthetic changes. I’m in the process of updating the Ciperion blog to make it look a little nicer. I’ve already edited the header image, which I like much more than the old one, but I’ll also be updating the art on the character pages and adding art to the table of contents section in the coming days, so look out for that. In addition, I’ll begin remastering the older pages to fit in with the style I have established. Even though I only started uploading the pages a little over a year ago, some of those pages are actually a few years old (and it shows lol), so I’ll be updating those. I’ll send out a message once I’ve completed an entire chapter with updated art so you can check it out if you’re interested, and each time I finish remastering a chapter I’ll upload it to Tapastic. I will still be uploading new pages every week though! My goal is to get to chapter 10 by the end of the year (it may not be uploaded, but I’ll have those pages completed by then).
