i’ve decided that post-canon Ed and Winry keep a little flock of chickens and it’s mostly a bunch of sweet hens that they and the kids dote on, but they also have a tiny yellow bantam rooster which Ed is in a FEUD with. they are NEMESES. this creature keeps escaping from the run and getting into things he shouldn’t and pecking at Ed’s ankles every chance he gets. the kids love him and ‘accidentally’ let him into the house where he causes utter chaos. Ed insists this is the most vile creature in the world. but of course everyone else who sees their altercations is just like “Ah. He has found a kindred spirit.”

#was contemplating a fic last night #for my 'Ed develops chronic fatigue as a result of that one time he used his own life energy as a power source' headcanon #but got very sidetracked thinking about chickens #they all have names that are either very specific mechanical engineering terms or elements/alchemical compounds #they call the rooster Pete but it's short for 'Saltpeter'#Ed did not think he was going to get attached to the chickens because he's not an Animal Person the way Al is #but in true dad-who-insisted-he-didn't-want-a-pet fashion it takes him like two weeks to become utterly smitten #fusses over 'the girls' and brings them the *good* weeds from other parts of the yard #has been seen chasing predators away from the coop brandishing a frying pan #has to go sit with them for a bit in the morning when he lets them out #(until the rooster attacks him)#gives effusive speeches about how marvelous it is that eggs exist #Winry finds it all deeply amusing #i'm not very fandom about this show i mostly just point at it and go 'wow! a good story!'#but this is what matters to me i guess #Edward Elric has chronic fatigue and chickens #fma

The little sun from dusty streets, Raon

Ritual AU Ray shard done ;v; her ritual monsters are done too, so now (at least on her end) I need to do the rest of her main deck. I both look forward to and don't look forward to making a ref for Yuume for he is a big puffball.

Once nicknamed Nameless by a once dear friend (she hasn't seem them in so, so long) and given a name by them, Raon is the Ritual Dimension's shard of Ray.

For most of her life she's had very little beyond her clothes and her bracelet. As of recent, she's come to understand (with difficulty) that her bracelet is a bit... strange, to say the least - but at least where the occasional nagging feelings of doom (proximity to a particular person) or "take care of myself" during that time was from.

She does think En Sun trying to help her realise when she was hungry, thirsty, or tired, was cute of it, especially for a spell. It just made existing a little scary after finding out about it (she's gotten over this.)

As a member of Opus, Raon is one of their two gathered fragments. Through them she has most things in her life, up to and including her duel disk (though not pictured here) and her monsters.

Just like other members of Opus, Raon looks forward to being able to meet her sisters in Ray's other shards (as does Yuume with his brothers), and is working as best she can to keep the other shards separate,

... after all, both Raon and Yuume know exactly how dire a botched ritual can be (hell, the whole dimension does) - combining pieces together separately, and not all together at once? A recipe for disaster.

It's just very hard to do your job when your organization is frightened of letting you out of the dimension in case you get captured - as if Raon isn't the queen of booking it out of a dangerous situation - because you're fairly new to being able to duel at all.

... Maybe not helped that she's unnerved by her own monsters, even if they were made by En Sun for her and her alone. Anyway! When they're less scared of letting her loose, Raon's definitely going to help her siblings where she can!

Same reason why the boys' Zarc's eye have a star instead #anyway yeah. there's a tiny section of the ritual dimension that found out about what happened in Original. don't worry about it #The symbols on her deckbox. for anyone curious. is one of the alchemical sun symbols on the side. and on the front is the symbol for..#.. phlogiston. which is a theory trying to explain a collection of things we now call oxidation!#My first Ruri and I drew her as a bird. unbelievable

The building hid within the shadows of the Mage Quarter. Set beside weathered and aged counterparts, it appeared almost ostentatious with its unblemished bricks and polished wood trim- as if it’d been tacked on as an afterthought. A constant cloud of smoke hovered above the chimney, drenching the street in the scent of sulfur and ash. The products of which glistened in the shop window: vials of every make and shape displayed in neat racks for all pedestrians to admire. And hung on fresh hinges was a sign to name the shop of wonders.

Vyxon Alchemical Co.

Rumors of grandeur are attached not to the shop itself but to the proprietors. They were a pair of siblings far younger than unsuspecting parties expected. Master alchemists have studied the craft longer than they’ve been alive. But those who’ve met the siblings know better; those who’d venture to call them friends understood. The Parkhursts were far from ordinary. The Parkhursts were back, yes. Possessed of a new shop and a few extra benefactors. But returned nonetheless.

The real question is how long they truly planned on staying.

When I first heard of Sleepless Domain it was a long time ago and while I was browsing @ladyloveandjustice’s blog. I looked it up on TV Tropes and was ecstatic to see that the Black girl was the main character and was a lesbian to boot! But it eventually lost my interest as I felt like it was going to be just another ”female power fantasy turns out to be BAD actually and girls are vulnerable incompetent hacks who deserve to suffer and die” as well it was literally compared to MADOKA MAGICA of all things. Ew. But now that I realized that it’s not like that and also now that I discovered that I am a lesbian I am def going to read it because honestly? Undine Wells is freaking adorable and probably the most positive femme Black lesbian rep that I am ever going to get ever, especially since she’s one of the few examples of a femme Black lesbian in media, and I can already tell that I am heavily going to ship her with Kokoro.

Plus holy DAMN do I need a better fandom than Encanto. If the Sleepless Domain fandom even exists, that is. Hello? Sleepless Domain fans? You out there? *calling out into the void* Helloooooooo?

while i was always a fan of the Alchemicals from Exalted’s very first edition, i think the thing that made me absolutely OBSESSED with them was a particular comic in their source book in the second edition, and I would argue it’s also an EXCELLENT example of an establishing character moment.

This, to be clear, is a big moment where a character does something or experiences something that very strongly makes an impression that tells you the most important things to know about them; it is one of the most effective tools in writing, and while you can do a lot of stuff to further define the character, this is a great way to fully solidify that character for an audience, and for me, its one of the early comics before a particular chapter.

In this comic, we see a group of Autochthonian children who have fallen afoul of a disaster, the walls caved in and everyone is horribly hurt. One of them wakes up and gets the attention of our focus character, an Autochthonian boy who is impaled on a pipe or rebar. He complains that she woke him up when he was almost passed out, and cynically remarks that they’re all going to die down there anyway so they might as well just let themselves pass out so it doesn’t hurt too much.

The same girl that called out to him (who is pinned and can’t get free) says not to lose hope; the Great Maker will save them. The boy gloomily replies that the Great Maker is in worse shape than they; what can he do? This in turn also sets up the point that Great Maker is very, very ill, the disease that defines him having grown out of control and consuming him like the transcendant cancer it is. These dying children dwell upon a world that is their god, and he is even more sickly and close to death than they are?

What can the Great Maker do?

And at this point, there’s a slamming sound on the walls.

they ask what that noise is, and the boy impaled to the floor remarks it’s probably just another cave-in; who cares?

Another crashing bang, and the caved in wall is torn away, revealing the gargantuan form of an Alchemical Exalted, the Champion heroes of Autochthonia. It is specifically Stern Whip of Industry, the iconic Jade Alchemical Exalt, a hero of the people, tirelessly working the hardest jobs and doing any task no matter how menial or difficult; he stands an enormous stature, a towering colossus tearing the wall down and rescuing them all with Charm-enhanced arms

The Great Maker may lie in sleep, slowly fading away and succumbing to his sickness. The Great Maker might be sicker and closer to death than even the most injured human, but the Champions he gave the power to create, to protect the people of Autochthonia and safeguard their civilizations, are still there, tirelessly being the heroes they were built to be.

So speaks Stern Whip of Industry: “TAKE HEART. HELP IS COME.”

the boy’s cynicism completely drops into genuine surprise and relief, and so ends the comic, and we get one HELL of an establishing moment for the Alchemical Exalted as a whole, even if we technically got a more extended one for Whip himself in the comic that opens up the book about a couple chapters previously.

so um anyway i made new banners for matty and sharky, currently writing a little overview of matty’s lore i’ve been working on and how sharky and matty’s relationship plays into all of john and matty’s relationship. i’ve changed some things here and there but nothing major

in the mean time, while i study for school while thinking about my favourite two idiots and listening to music of course i had to compose a lil list for the two of them, i feel obligated as my right of an obsessive music enthusiast and also being way too obsessed with my ships- (i made a part two of songs matty would play for sharky hehe)
