THAT WAS MINE. IT HAS BEEN SO LONG. WHERE DID YOU FIND IT? said Zinandour, with barely masked pleasure. "When I killed my aunt", said Shuthmili. [...] "Clearly you and I were always written in the stars." THE STARS ARE INSENSIBLE FIRES, said Zinandour. I CHOSE YOU.

What can we say - we love this series, and were not disappointed in the latest entry.  Tal gets some particularly satisfying suffering in.

It had been strange to discover that the worst could happen, and the world as you knew it could end, and you would still take your coffee the same way. You still had to eat. You still got dressed. You still brushed and braided your hair. And if you were very lucky, or very unlucky- Shutmili was certainly one of those two things - you still had a job.

Well, The Thousand Eyes has shifted into a whole different story again. But on the other hand 'Csorwe plays house with the tsundere dragon-god of chaos and destruction possessing her girlfriend' is just an incredibly premise for the last ~80 pages of the book.
And, like, 'local orc girl is pinned to wall by possessed girlfriend trying to threaten her, gets all flustered about it and starts blushing' is almost certainly the funniest thing I'm going to read today

A Kimondatlan Név kritika
A Kimondatlan Név kritika

Ugh. Read one too many good books last night and now the gods are blowing up our phone 😣
The nerve of John Gaius!
Zinandour, Dragon of Qarsazh is a destructive and corruptive deity only barely contained within the pages of A. K. Larkwoods The Serpent Gates Duology, which began with The Unspoken Name and concluded in The Thousand Eyes.
Iterate Fractal is a relative newcomer to the evil gods seen: an artificial intelligence consumed with a curiosity as all-consuming as it is vampiric. Emma Mieko Candon’s debut The Archive Undying doesn’t arrive until next summer, but you can (and very should) preorder now!
John Gaius is the worst. He’s from Tamsyn Muir’s The Locked Tomb series.

Has anyone read The Unspoken Name by A. K. Larkwood? I read it a year ago and I loved it so much that I made it my pick for a bookclub I have with my friends. Definitely due for a re-read. Talasseres Charossa has my whole entire heart so I did some quick sketches of him (how i picture him, anyway. Lol) If you liked Gideon the Ninth/The Locked Tomb series, definitely check it out.

havent read a good book in a while, and if i want anyone to recommend me a book i figure it ought to be you. any recommendations ?
Konstantin Paustovsky’s The Story of a Life if you have the time and energy for a long book. Muriel Spark’s Loitering With Intent if you don’t. Julian Barnes’ The Noise of Time if you’re in the mood for something melancholic. Ada Palmer’s Too Like The Lightning if you want weird, political-philosophical SFF and don’t mind starting a four-book series. A. K. Larkwood’s The Unspoken Name for slightly easier-to-read SFF about archaeological heists and leaving death cults. Barbara Demick’s Besieged: Life Under Fire on a Sarajevo Street for a truly moving piece of journalistic nonfiction.
