Lorule Blaksmith: “Let me take a look...at...?
This is a really fine sword. Excellent craftsmanship! Just excellent. Whoever made this was very skilled!
Now as skilled as I am, of course. Wow. I mean, I am the top blacksmith in the world, y’know.
But whoever did this  might just be the second best.
Ah, this is getting my bloood running!
Hey, boy! Follow me!”

man, I love A Link Between Worlds... sometimes I remember it, its hyper-competent yet humble design and storytelling proposal, and I genuinely think that makes it among my favorite Zelda games ;;

i feel like we, as a fandom, don’t utilize A Link Between Worlds (outside of the existence of Ravio) enough. we should talk about Gulley and the blacksmiths and irene and the fact that Legend would likely say stuff like “blew his stack” and “thataway.” albw is a great game and offers lots of interesting avenues to go w Legend’s characterization.

Hey sky question, if you were to remake TFH's what would you add/fix? 1. More costumes, now I say this but I actually have no idea what they should add, there's a lot of variety between all the costumes so I can't think of anything to suggest but like 4 more would be nice, or at least a remix on some of the preexisting costume, for example the lady outfit changes the normal dash into lady's dash in the fight and maybe adds other moves from her fight or the hammer bros outfit instead lets you throw weaker hammer.
2. Different enemies, it's said that "lady maud dressed up all the drabland monsters herself" but almost all of them are just ALBW enemies. I would love to see new enemies based on fashion gimmicks like we have, or at least reskin the normal enemies to have outfits
Oh these are good, I like your ideas :)
Hmm, what would I change oh boy...
I agree that more costumes would be fun! Maybe they could add some more character costumes in like the Linebeck one, maybe alternate hero clothes (botw? Spirit tracks engineer suit?). Maybe also spiffying up some of the... weirder looking outfits? Like I enjoy the effects of the torrent robe a lot, but the design of the outfit could be way better XD Make them a little more actually stylish.
More expansion on what Hytopia is like overall, with more unique npcs (since a lot of them are also borrowed from albw) would be neat. What’s their relation to Hyrule? Are they neighbors? Is Hytopia more of a province of Hyrule, or maybe a colony or region opposed to a separate country all together? How did the Tri Force Heroes legend get started? Who’s the masked spinner? Why can you only get to the Drablands via magic portal with two other people???
Stuff like that. I love lore.
Ah what else... a few more areas would be fun, but I don’t know what areas they would be since they have most of the typical ones already. A online multiplayer match-up system that isn’t limited by region would be nice, since sometimes its impossible to find people to play with.
Also a boss rush mode! You go through with your buddies and see how many you can beat without dying, and you get an outfit for making it all the way through (maybe halfway as well?).

Ok random question because I haven’t played a lot of the 2D Zeldas.
Which Zelda games have references to the Golden Goddesses (Din, Farore, and Nayru)?
So far I have
None in Zelda 1 or 2
ALttP: image of the triforce being created
LA: nothing
OoT: creation cutscene
MM: Nothing
OoX: the oracles themselves
FS: Nothing
WW: beginning scroll mention of them flooding the ocean
FSA: Nothing
MC: NPCs named after the goddesses but they’re just normal people
TP: shown sealing the twilight realm after the interloper war
PH: Nothing
ST: Nothing
Skord: the three dragons
ALBW: Nothing
TFH: Nothing
BotW: Dragons
TotK: Dragons
Most of the games I have nothing written for are also games that I have not played. If anyone knows about appearances of the goddeses in any of the games I didn’t mention, please let me know!

I recall awhile back you mentioned that you would make a post all about Fledge. May I...humbly request to see it please
I kinda forgor i said that. Funny, because i almost always forget fledge in meme posts i make-
And that sucks, so to make it up to him, here's a fledge post
Tumblr media
The boy himself, Fledge
Fledge, of course, is the scrawny guy you meet at the start of skyward sword. He attends the knight academy, but is apparently flunking bcs he's not allowed to be in the wing ceremony. If people weren't always bitching about skyward sword, people would have called him a "precious cinnamon roll, too good for this world, too pure" in 2014. *gunshot*
Fledge facts!
"Fledge" is of course a play on the word "fledgling", a bird that's not quite a baby, but not quite ready for the world. Like how fledge isn't quite a beginner knight, but isn't ready for the wing ceremony
In skyward sword (2011), helping him move the barrels in the intro nets you 20 rupees. Skyward sword HD was changed so that saving Mia would net the rupees, because people tended to ignore fledge and miss the rupee. However, you can still get fledge's rupees in the HD version, netting you 40 rupees in total, enough for a shield if yours breaks
Fledge isn't just pushed around by groose and his gang, but also Pipit in the intro, who does it with good intentions, but the implication is that everyone but link pushes him around at least a little (maybe link too, depending on the player)
Fledge is one of the few skyloftian NPCs to not react to the goddess statue falling after skykeep
Fledge is a drug addict
After kukiel is found, most NPCs immediately change their dialogue from being worried abt kukiel to their default, depending on where link is in his quest. Fledge on the other hand, will have to be told abt kukiel for this to happen. Meaning you have to talk to him twice on two separate days (go to sleep) to start his quest if you don't need talk to him after
Fledge headcanons:
Due to his lack of physical strength, fledge favors the bow and other ranged weapons
Stamina potion tastes like limes
Fledge is one of those people who doesn't know what they wanna do with their lives so they pick a career path based on something they're moderately good at. He'd probably be happier making potions
Fledge is an outsider, kinda. I also headcanon that there are people who live on other floating islands and send their kids to skyloft, and this is what happened with fledge. But unlike the others, he didn't have any childhood friends in skyloft, so he feels disconnected from the group
Fledge probably gets along with Oolo (The kikwi you kidnapped)
Controversial takes:
his mini game is NOT THAT BAD YOU GUYS. THERE ARE SO MANY WORSE MINIGAMES: BOTW GOLF, TP BIRD RIDING, MM3D BEAVER RACE, ALBW BASEBALL, AND MORE. LEAVE HIM ALONE-

Lorule Theory Time!!
Let me take you on a story of little Hyde still discovering Zelda.
So I first learned about A Link Between Worlds and was really excited to learn that there's a negative Hyrule where Zelda, Link, and Ganondorf (and others) have edgy counterparts! I've always loved the concept that Hyrule and Lorule portray, that everything is almost the same, but darker.
So when I learned about Majora's Mask (yes, I discovered it after ALBW), I was really excited to learn that the game shares almost all of its assets with Ocarina of Time, including characters. I then came to the conclusion that Termina is just a distant province of Lorule.
Theory 1
There are two parts of this theory. Part 1 is the geography, and part 2 is the characters/counterparts. Let's start with the maps.
I actually found the maps of Lorule and Termina to be pretty easy to connect. In the southern part of Termina, there is a swamp. It's called the southern swamp, because it's south of the rest of Termina. And in Lorule, there's a swamp-like forest in the northwest called Skull Woods. So it totally works!
Now, let's remember that Lorule is supposed to reflect Hyrule. So, where does Termina fit in the Hyrule map? Well, let me illustrate it for you.
Tumblr media
There are a couple of reasons for why it could be like this.
1. Ocarina of Time's map would not cross with any region, making sure that none of the maps match.
2. Skull Woods matches with Seres Scablands. This is cool because Seres is the sage that's trapped in the Skull Woods dungeon.
3. The Great Bay matches the area surrounding Rito Village. Since Rito did evolve from Zora (allegedly), this makes a lot of sense.
One thing we need to remember is that the landmarks won't match perfectly, but this can be due to time differences and the fact that it's a separate dimension. Anyways...
Theory 2
Counterparts are a very important part of these two dimensions and their connection to Hyrule. In fact, it's the only real connection to Termina that we have.
So there is a counterpart for Zelda, Link, and Ganondorf in Lorule: Hilda, Ravio, and Yuga. (I would like to mention that Yuga's name is very similar to the Yiga, a cult dedicated to Ganon.) Gramps, the old man in Kakariko, could also have a counterpart, that being the masked elder in Thieves' Town.
Oh yeah! Isn't it interesting how both Lorule and Termina have some respect for masks, and that they seem to help the people?
Anyways, in Majora's Mask, we see the counterpart for all of the NPCs in Ocarina of Time, except for a few specific ones. I want to mention that there isn't a counterpart for Zelda, Link or Ganondorf!
... And then I learned about Kafei. Apparently, he uses a lot of Link's assets, with the exception of having longer purple hair and a weird tunic with what looks like upside-down bunny ears.
You know who else uses Link's assets and has a purple outfit that's bunny themed? That's right!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kafei is actually Ravio! Multiple Ravios confirmed! Do what you will with this information!
That concludes my Lorule Theory for today!
I'm always open to thoughts or ideas. Let me know if I missed anything.

i just finished totk and a link between wolds and i have thougths.
under the cut. (ill put a little spoiler warning when nessesary)
this ran out of my control so beware a really long post down there
a link between wolds first
ok okokokok. so. this is the greatest game of all time. the concept of link turning unidimensional its the most unique and cool ive seen in a zelda game. the puzzles are so cool and exploring the world(s) its so much fun.
also skyward swords its usually said to be the one that broke the zelda formula but albw also did. you can solve the dungeons in any order you want and get the items for a weird little creature (aka my new favorite character) with rupees at any time in the game.
i also loved the story. spoilers start here
This was my seventh zelda game and its definitely not my favorite story wise. BUT. the concept of it its so interesting. the twisted hyrule aka lourde its great and also hilda aka evil zelda its so interesting as well as ravio aka the weird link its the greatest reveal ive seen in a zelda game. and the twist of hilda being behind all the evil plan also surprised me.
another thing i found really interesting its the fact that the triforce its completed by the end of the game and Link and Zelda get to make a wish. because this is a concept that its been established in a lot of the games ive played but ive never actually seen it happening (i suppose its because of the downfall timeline or whatever).
spoilers end here
ill say the only thing i didnt love about the game is its difficulty. ive only played another 2d zelda game (links awakening) but in comparison this one its too easy. i died a total of 2 times, one of them in the final boss (which is a really cool fight btw). so yeah, kinda easy but not really a complaint.
totk time
man. what do i say about this game.
i didnt love botw and i usually dont like 3d games. but i guess i cannot longer say that because i love totk. its so fun and big (how does it run in the swich).
also playing totk made me appreciate botw more. its so cool how even without the main story both games tell a different story and how besides link being almost and avatar he gets to have so much story, growth and personality. In botw link is almost always alone, literally only accompanied by the ghost of his past. while in totk a lot of npc recognize him, help him and just are there with him. also hyrule tell its own story; in botw its almost a post apocalyptic (ex) kingdom. npcs are always in tiny towns, and the few that leave are scared and in danger. and everything its destroyed, gannon its trapped in the castle and theres no hope for the kingdom. but the in totk they are rebuilding!. i have never been this emotional about a bunch of npcs as i am with totk/botw once. they go out to explore and treasure hunt!. there is a school!, a newspaper!. they know zelda and link and hyrules story!. they let link sleep and gives him weapons and food whenever for free!.  im not crying i promise (lie).
and the amount of storytelling that theres is the world alone its insane. i get sad everytime i catch some poes because they are the souls of the fallen hyrule warriors and people from before botw.
now lets talk about link (again) and zelda because they had taken over my mind. link and zelda from botw failed. thats the whole point of the story. they failed the first time, they couldnt save their friends, their kingdom, they didnt defeat ganon, link couldnt defend zelda. so then 100 years latter they have to fix it and save what is left of the kingdom they couldnt protect. botw its so sad. even when they win, the kingdom its still broken and they friends are still gone.
then in totk they do everything they can to help the new hyrule, and when it its in danger again, they fight. in botw, i like to think most of the time link will be running in the wild (dah), camping alone, then go and defeat gannon on his own (the champions help but they are ghost and it was their duty anyways). and then, in totk the very first thing link does after living the sky its go to the fortress (idk its name) where there is people willing to help, then he go and travel finding and helping people on its way. they want link, the hero, to help them fight this monsters, because its gives them hope. he goes to see his friends and they willingly help him. they don't have to risk their lives but zelda asked them to help link and of curse they will. they trust him. he is their friend, and they wont let him be alone.
now a little bit of spoilers
when link goes to the castle, expecting to fight ganandof alone and then the sages show up and deflect the attack i almost cried. then at the end of the game when link loose contact with them and still goes in alone and they show up again.  im...  ;-;
and zelda!. my girl fought so much and she was alone for so much more i want to give her a hug. when she gets turned back to human and she says she was sure she would be gone (a dragon) forever... ;-;
end spoilers
now lets talk about that final fight.
damn, what a good fight. i was there for so long (my fault for getting there with 3 hearts and no food), but we did it and it was amazing.
ok thats it. in conclusion a link between worlds its almost as good as links awakening but im going to say its my new favorite zelda game because it deserves so much more love that it gets. also cook some food before you go to end game, believe me youll need it.

HM you know what. any tropes YOU like/dislike in zelda games...?
OUGH HM..!!
so. ffull disclaimer here ichave. not played many zelda games. ive Started some (alttp got to the first dark world dungeon, oot got to the forest temple, majoras mask got to ikana canyon/stone tower, ww got to getting triforce pieces, albw got to the first lorule dungeon, twilight princess i. barely got through due to wanting to finish a game . i got to wolf and midna moment or the second ish act?, and i started triforce heroes.) but ive only finished. 2 games (botw and the minish cap). so my information may be limited here
starting with ones i dislike!
1. crystallizing zelda/keeping her damseled. when shes not in a “disguise” alla tetra and sheik she will be Immediately cast off to the side or trapped. like. i know the usual point of the games is to save zelda (except when. it isnt in the first half of the game) but please let her Do Something…!!! i love sheik and tetra theyre great, its just. as soon as they transform into zelda suddenly their characters and roles are discarded- sheik frame perfectly gets captured by ganondorf when theyre in their princess. state? tetra is a bit better but she and zelda really arent the same person- fuzz punch arcade put it better than i could saying “tetra is a pirate captain, the epitome of free-spirited career nut. zelda, is demure, takes the blame for things she cant control, and drops everything for link and the king.” this is probably a larger issue but. i dunno having zelda be . less of a concept would be nice? or like in games like botw, itd be nice if she wasnt a cutscene character but rather an npc who you can directly talk to. they almost did this in totk. with botw i understand it doesnt really work with the story, only working for post game . if. if there was one. but yeah. also this doesnt mean everyone has to like her or even put her in like. fanworks if they dont want to. some zelda games dont even have zelda in them like majoras mask its just if youre Going to do her please do her better
2. the monsters being Directly tied to ganon. like in oot its fine, great even, because those are boss monsters in specific circumstances (and also have the general theme of being parasites in the first half, the second half they just guard the sages). im talking about Every monster being tied to ganon in some way (like botw or totk). it makes him less of a guy who does things and more not a guy but the devil incarnate whos so so So evil trust me guys look hes even the source of monsters. how. hes That Evil. this is taking some liberties as monsters may have existed before ganon or at least the calamity in botw they were just docile, and in totk the shrines took care of the monsters but where they came from is up to debate, with the memory of ganon getting the stone i believe showing the. creation????? respawning of monsters it really does feel like they Come From Him though.
3. villages having one race exclusively. ive said this before but id like there to be villages where hylians and zora and gorons and rito and sheikah and gerudo live Together would be nice. especially in botw theres. ruins of settlements near places like rito village that have hylian esque designs. so rito and hylians could have lived in the same village. they technically do this in minish cap? the humans cant. See Them though except for kids
4. love interests in general or characters exclusively made to be love interests. whether its zelda or not im just not a fan though its more a personal thing.
5. i dont hate this more dislike it but bosses having one really easy tell. its just either not fun but you know what you need to go for or its fun but you know what you need to go for. i kind of wish they were done like lynels in botw- theyre Hard if you dont know what youre doing, but you Can after enough practice. also the great plateau lynel is great you cant do what you normally do with it you have to get headshots to stun it then go on its back to not take damage. figuring that out is not complex but shows you Know the game. i do understand bosses mimicking lynels in how they test the player is very hard to do especially how they can Keep testing the player
6. hyrule always being the best/greatest or just being. The Main Place or the main narrative being to defend hyrule. half of this is from the imperialism but half of the time im just tired of hyrule as a thing honestly. i dont serve any country not mine nor hyrule i simply game. i also dont know how prevalent this is in most games either so i may be biased here
i do wish i could think of. more lighthearted?? tropes for the above like neutral things like sages frequently appearing or certain items popping up but usually i dont care unless its done badly. totk is like that but the whole game is like that too so its an outlier to me, otherwise its just There.
onto things i like!
1. LENS OF TRUTH LENS OF TRUTH LENS OF TRUTH. i think its so neat :]
2. mail the concept of mail mailboxes and the no longer working tingle mail bottle feature in the ww
3. SONGS. MUSIC. the ocarina songs and them opening up places + certain songs being important generally like the ballad of the windfish
4. milk bars. im adding one to pre cal botw but i just like them !! especially the little songs that can play in there in albw
5. kakariko having graves for some reason. i do like graves in general but kakariko Specifically being the one to have them is interesting
6. dark worlds or other worlds. i especially like lorule!! termina is very cool too
id probably put more but i am. getting distracted by outside things. so for now that is it.

another link between worlds enthusiast!!!!! i’ve played that game so many times i love it so much... easily my favorite zelda game
Yes!! A Link Between Worlds is so fun, I replayed it again just some 2 months ago! It's my favourite along with Majora's Mask (my ultra fave) and the Link's Awakening switch remake. I love that there's so many little nooks and crannies to explore, and I love a good Alternate World. Now that I think about it, all my favourite LoZ games takes place Not in Hyrule (well, half of it in ALBW's case).
Also, ALBW has one of my favourite NPCs (the Thief Girl), so it gets points for that as well. ALBW is just a super solid game all around.
