if there's one thing this last episode has affirmed for me about Alastor it's that he FUCKING HATES being reminded that he's not the most powerful creature in hell.

Like, he hates being ignored by Carmilla when she says she doesn't care why he was gone

He hates Lucifer ON SIGHT

He threatens to KILL Husk when he dares to mention that Alastor is working for someone more powerful than him

and now this.

Alastor freaking out because he almost died. Something almost killed him. He can fucking die. There is something more powerful than him out there. And it's not something he can ignore or brush off because it almost killed him.

Alastor hates the reminder that he's not as powerful as he tells people he is. He isn't indestructible, he isn't invincible. And he fucking hates that.

Astor is afraid of Alastor. He's always been afraid of him because the man told him he could kill him if he wanted to. Just like he does with all his other puppets.

Astor and Alastor avoid each other. Alastor doesn't know what to do with Astor after making him. He doesn't know how he fucked up so bad. He's made so many dolls and shades before that Astor doesn't make sense to him and he doesn't even know if he can kill Astor anymore. He doesn't even know if he were to die the shade would end up dead like the other critters he has made because Astor isn't at all like the others. It's just better to make him believe that he can because Astor is so stubborn and could easily turn on him

Alastor let's Astor do what he wants because he doesn't have control over him the same way he does his other shades. Astor isn't aware of any of this because Alastor refuses to talk to him about it. He doesn't want to give Astor any ideas with how much he wants his freedom from him

Astor was created by a deal Alastor made with Azathoth when he died the problem being Alastor doesn't remember making this deal, he only recalls dumping into Hell with the power to take down overlords and make a name for himself. Astor was his end of the bargain

He would take charge of the Darkness and the Elder Gods would learn how to care for the suffering mortals without causing insanity though Astor can't resist the call of chaos when the mood rises. He does still care about the sinners he makes friends with and is usually drawn to the ones that suffer the most.

Astor was made to believe he's a shade, he's not. He is just Alastors ward but Alastor has no idea because he's been around eldritch magic so long he's kind of lost it and Astor is too new and unaware to know what is happening with Alastor
