Sad Loppy headcanons???

Loppy, aka THE angst fest. Ufffff okay, I'll try to NOT contradict what we know and just play with what we don't know. Just to let you know Aangst is my thing okay?

Content warning: miscarriages

They married when they were 16 after Lao lost his father in an accident. His mother died at childbirth. Poppy's maiden name is Huan, she had an older sister that was jealous of her because she was pretty and smart. Poppy's father, Lord Huan, originally wanted to arrange a marriage between Lao and Poppy's older sister, but Lao fell in love with Poppy right away and preferred her. (This backstory isn't my definitive headcanon sometimes I use it for comedic reasons)

"Toph that's not ladylike" "You know what else isn't ladylike? Stealing your sister's boyfriend" "As I was saying, you're VERY ladylike I'm so glad..."

The green pearls necklace is his engagement gift. Green pearls are extremely rare and expensive. Lao wanted to impress her giving her the most perfect and beautiful necklace in the world (just like her)

They lost 3 babies before Toph was born. That made Poppy deal with periods of depression in which she stayed in her private rooms without talking to anyone for days. Lao didn't exactly know what to do so he used to sit outside her door, giving her space but also missing her.

Toph's birth was extremely difficult and both she and Poppy almost died. The doctors managed to save them but Poppy was unconscious for 2 weeks and they warned Lao that the baby girl might not even survive. They never talk about Toph's birth because it was extremely traumatizing.

Lao refused to have more children because he couldn't bear the thought of almost losing Poppy again.

Immediately after the baby's birth the doctors told Lao maybe the wisest thing would be to not choose a baby name until they knew for sure if she would survive. Lao ignored them, decided he would make sure she was going to live, and named her Poppy Jr. That lasted like 2 weeks until Poppy regained consciousness and changed it to Toph, the name she wanted.

Lao grew Soccer Mom levels of obsessed with the baby's safety and how to improve her health. He never admitted it, but he was actually very nervous about being a good father. So he always focused on giving her 2 things: what she needed for a good future in their society (good manners, education according to the Bei Fong name, learning about traditions) and what he personally wished he had had as a boy (safety).

He grew obsessed with that tho so at the end that backfired and it ended in Toph running away at 12.

When Poppy got furious and dumped him after it, it was he who left because he knew that, if she left, he'd never see her again and he didn't want to lose hope of someday fixing everything, somehow.

He took the flowers of her hair with him. She kept his favorite green hat.

In 'The Rift' he was at his worst because he missed Poppy terribly.

In Imbalance they're still not together again but I hc they had started to write letters to each other.

They didn't come back together immediately after they started to speak to each other again. It took some time. Mostly because they also wanted to fix things with Toph first.

Poppy won't admit it but she was hurt Toph never thought about talking to her after Toph and Lao reconciliated in The Rift. She wanted to give her space and only reach out for her when she wanted and that took years. She couldn't believe Toph actually started to talk to her father again before her.

She spends the next 40 years thinking Toph doesn't really love her.

(I know you said angst but this one is happy: she has a relationship of mutual adoration with Suyin. Suyin is genuinely the biggest joy of her old age).

(It's unavoidable for Lao to adore Lin. Lin looks like Poppy).

Poppy died when Suyin was pregnant with Huan and Lao died 2 months after her, from a broken heart. Suyin wanted to bury them in Zaofu but Baatar reminded her they'd probably have preferred the family's cemetery.

Suyin's most precious possession is her grandma's green pearls necklace. Her intention was always to give it up to Opal when she were older. Air Nomads might reject personal possessions but Opal will inherent that necklace even if she has to threaten Tenzin herself.

Lin kept Lao's hat and Suyin kept Poppy's hair flowers. When both sisters reconciliated Suyin gave Lin the flowers, because she knows her sister always liked them. Lin has both objects in her apartment, one next to the other, on a little table in her living room.

Now that it’s confirmed that gardening will be fixed, I can safely pre-order Cottage Living (let’s pretend like I wasn’t going to anyway, I want that bonus bicycle). And I’ve given this some thought. I usually make a test save to play around with the new features. Given the things I’m currently playing, that is what I will do again this time. Because I like lengthy ramblings, I’ll sum up why -

Globetrotter challenge - while this new world/pack would be perfect to add to this challenge, I do feel like it fits best in the end. Given that Iker is still in Mt. Komorebi and has like 6 more worlds to go... I’ll never get to that part on time.

Nightmare legacy - short lifespan is brutal, unfit for peacefully exploring a new pack/world

Grayson legacy (it still exists) - I have completely different plans for gen 2 and 3, and I’ve had those plans for so long that I’m not gonna mess with them. Even if I’ll probably never get far enough to play them out.

So. I could do as I always do, create a random(ish) new Sim and play. But... This world (the little we know of it) just gives me major Midsomer Murders / All Creatures Great and Small / Every Casual Farming/Villager Befriending Game vibes. Now, my new pack playthroughs are gameplay focused so, option one kind of misses the mark here (though I have every intention to one day do a village based mystery story and I will not refrain from turning Adam Hunter into a country copper).

Which leaves us with two other, more gameplay suited concepts, that I’ll pitch below. I do not intend to consistently share anything, so expect a few random moments and scenery screens. But well, I’ll play out the story in my imagination, saves me oodles of time (we all know, but no-one ever mentions it, but simblring is excessively time consuming). I personally like both concepts, and since I won’t share very much of it, there is really no point in this exercise except me displaying another attempt at mediocre editing of fancy banners that I’ll never use. And I just like writing a good story pitch and then never writing said story.

A Vet’s Life - In The Country

The return of a classic, with a twist. After the premature demise* of his beloved wife Jasmin, Derek has been feeling rather depressed. Little Lynn thinks she knows just the thing to cheer her dad up. How about they move away from Brindleton Bay and make a fresh start? The vet practice in Henford-on-Bagley has been in dire need of a new vet and there’s a little farm for sale in the vicinity. As old Nugget and Sly tag along, will Derek find happiness again among the udder chaos of country life?

* Disclaimer: Skip, Leon and Laika have also sadly passed by now (aka, it’s impossible to have a dog to adult sim ratio of 4:1). And Jasmin needed company in the afterlife.

Old McAlister’s Farm

From a long forgotten (attempt at) legacy, Poppy Addison is all grown up now. She’s recently inherited old Grandpa McAlister’s farm (who died peacefully in his sleep not long ago) in the lovely little hamlet of Henford-on-Bagley. Once Poppy arrives here, the farm is in a sorry state and it’s her job to restore it to its former glory.* She cannot do so without the help of the local villagers. A new adventure awaits and many new friends are to be made.

star guardian academics

of the star sisters, anyway. i haven’t given nearly as much thought to ahri’s team but i’ll get there! one day! maybe!

lux is the overachiever. she has fantastic grades, an impeccable attendance record (save for guardian duty), she's on a first name basis with at least one teacher but probably more. she's constantly trying to tutor the other guardians, jinx and lulu especially, because if anyone knows that they have untapped potential it's her. it doesn't usually work, but hey, you can't take a leader's instincts away from her. naturally this is less, well, Natural than it is hard work. i think a lot of schooling actually comes with a struggle but lux has too big of a perfectionist streak to let things slip by. the type to have a key to the teacher’s lounge and needs every teacher to like her or she will have a breakdown over text @ jinx at 3 am

speaking of, jinx is the total fucking opposite! canonically, jinx is actually really fucking smart, especially when it comes to hands-on things a la weapon building. the problem is that she does not give a single shit. girl's had a rough life and school's never done a thing to help her or had any positive impact on her, so why should she care??? stack that on top of undiagnosed adhd and a personality that thrives in extremes, if she's at school, she's being reprimanded. girl does just enough work not to get expelled, and only does so because she knows it would kill the others (lux especially) if she were. i like to think she has a sort of. begrudging respect for, like, whatever unlucky faculty member gets stuck watching her in detention. proximity and time breed familiarity, after all! said teacher probably tries to push her to be better but jinx is jinx so it doesn't get very far. she likes to remind the others, probably lux and poppy more than anyone else, that school doesn't actually matter and Fuck The Homework

i think lulu is pretty similar! i'm not as read up on her lore as jinx, lux, and poppy, but from what i do know and the way ten talks about her, she seems like she cares a lot more about herself and what she's interested than what any curriculum says is good for her. i'd imagine she excels in classes she cares about, real honor student work, but barely tries in the ones that don't. probably doesn't actually have a lot of friends! and this maybe doesn't bother her like it does others, lulu strikes me as the type to be plenty fine being on her own, except for when it comes to those select few who she really cares about. aka, you know, the star sisters. not actually a bad student by any means, but i think she's probably a pretty polarizing member of their class with how odd she can be!

in base poppy's canon, before she meets the founder of demacia and is given the hammer, she spends a lot of her time wandering runeterra, searching for a purpose. ithink poppy is a Good Student. not an honor student, far from a bad one, she sticks to the rules, is maybe a little bit of a narc, and doesn't allow a lot of room for friends. when she becomes a star guardian, school becomes secondary. her duties as a protector of the universe come first before everything. her grades suffer, and her relationships outside of the star sisters, or, what few there were, do too. some days are probably especially bad. poppy is good at keeping herself and the other guardians focused (even if that help has to come under threat of force), but she's not the best at taking care of herself! probably comes into school sometimes with very little sleep the night before. teachers try to ask if anything's wrong, but poppy being poppy grits her teeth and bears it. she's a soldier, and a good soldier doesn't complain. probably is forcibly scheduled to speak to the school's counselor but the conversation(s) goes nowhere

janna is, admittedly, my weak point here. she doesn't get the sort of attention the others do and i've never been very good at placing my finger on the pulse of characters like her quickl buuuut! as the oldest and lux's mentor, i think she easily sits in the Mom Friend position. she's in her fourth year of school, y'all, she's kind of over it! her own grades are, well, perfect! or. they were, maybe. see, i think janna was in line for being the valedictorian of her class, and nobody would complain about that being the case because she's so polite and confident and knowing- the sort of girl adults smile proudly at and call "wise beyond her years". but it's very easy to forget that she's only a year older than lux! she's the best at managing her time and effort between saving the world and school, but that's a little bit like being the tallest dwarf. she's still a teenaged superhero trying not to let the secret slip. she's smart, and well-liked, but whereas she started as such a bright, promising student, all those capital E Extracurriculars have taken their toll, and now she's merely a Great student instead of a honor one. the only reason lux hasn't fallen into that rut yet is because her boundless optimism still wins out over her self doubt!

originally born zsofia petrova, she was an only child to a fairly wealthy family. they had struggled to conceive, and so zsofia had been a blessing, for they had wanted a daughter.

not that they wanted a child for the sake of having a child, to them, she was a business transaction waiting to happen. a young girl they tried to mould into the perfect wife.

she grew up alongside igor, her family figuring if she knew him from an early age, she’d be more likely to be happy with the future they had planned for her. however, igor was cruel, and big headed, and zsofia loathed the man. if he wanted something, he’d stop at nothing to get it.

still, she had her childhood friend, khryson. someone she adored. the older they grew, zsofia realised her feelings for her friend were more than just platonic, but she was promised to igor, and he married someone else.

zsofia had managed to put off her marriage to igor long enough, but before she could marry him, khryson’s first wife died. not wanting to have any regrets, she told igor she refused to marry him.

igor was angry, his family even more so, and zsofia’s own family cut ties with her. luckily, igor left, to this day zsofia still isn’t sure why, but she was relieved.

zsofia ended up marrying khryson, becoming zsofia novikoff. she adored her husband more than anything, and ended up having several children with him. she loved each and every one of her children.

zsofia was happy. even though the years had some heartbreak, with natalia (khryson’s sister) dying, she supported her husband, always being there for him.

however, at the age of 29, igor came back. drunkenly, he told her she’d made a fool of him, and that she had always been his and she should leave her husband.

she told him no, and he was furious, and so, deciding if he couldn’t have her, no one could - he drowned her.

a siren saved her that day, as she woke up on the shore, gasping for air with a strange woman hovering above her. she told the woman she needed to return home to her family, but she said she couldn’t. she explained that she was a siren now, and she wouldn’t age -- and so her family would not take well to that, and neither would their village.

so, fearing their safety, zsofia broke her own heart by leaving, allowing them to believe she had died.

she changed her names several times, roaming alongside the other siren. the woman teaching her the ways of what it meant to be one of them.

several years later, she snuck back to her hometown, desperate to see her husband again, despite the other’s warning. all she found was a grave belonging to him. calista and ekaterina’s beside them, all three of them having died in the same year. zsofia was devestated.

the two of them would find both men and women that would pray on the weak and innocent, and kill them.

however one time, they bit off more than they could chew, and a hunter tracked them down and killed her friend, zsofia barely getting away.

she had several flings and relationships over the years, but never remarried - nothing ever came close to what she had with khryson.

sometimes, she’d see him. a figment of her imagination, she assumed - the guilt of leaving all those years ago manifesting into visions of him. she never once thought he could possibly be alive.

she made a few friends over the years, mainly sticking to those she knew were immortal - not wanting to deal with loosing more people she cared about.

she grew colder as the decades went by, the warm hearted, soft woman she used to be, a distant memory.

she’s run into trouble during the years, but always managed to escape.

her work (whatever that may be) is what brought her to bellport, the woman having no idea that her former husband and children are here. she now goes by sophie norcott.

An Interview with a Saiyan - Raditz Speaks

Okay, ahead of the return of Never Ever Land with Chapter 72 in a week or two (or three), I offer this interview with Raditz, AKA The Radness, pictured here in (some of) his Sphere Field Tournament outfit. For this portrait I went old school, with colour pencils, however, I could have kicked myself for doing it on A5 paper - that is way too small for colour pencil resolution! So, it’s grainy as all heck.

Interview after the cut!

It‘s ten minutes before Raditz takes the ring as The Radness, in the semi-final of the Sweet Stuff Sphere Field Tournament, and I have met him in the locker rooms under the ring for a quickie before the match (quick interview! Sheesh, get your minds out of the gutters!).

Dragonbabezee: Oh, sorry! I’ll come back later once you’re dressed!

Raditz: I am dressed!

Dragonbabezee: ...But surely you’d be a bit more comfortable if you threw on a shirt? Or some pants?

Raditz: These are pants, aren’t they? I’m comfortable. Unless...you’re not comfortable?

Dragonbabezee: …I’m good, if you could just please stop twitching your pectorals; it’s quite distracting. Ahem. Well then, on with the interview. Thanks for taking the time out to speak to me. I and the fans really appreciate it.

Raditz: And I appreciate my fans. Especially the hot ones. I’m doing autographs after the match, by the way, ladies.

Dragonbabezee: Okay then. First up I have a question from @ponderingpathways How has being around all these Earthlings changed you? And how do you feel about that?

Raditz: Earthlings. Yeesh. Well, I guess life’s a lot more exciting since we picked them up. We did almost die on Namek, and it seems like we get to fight for our lives at least once every few weeks… So, yeah, it’s been fun. And Vegeta has much less of a stick up his butt lately, but I don’t think I’m much different. Other than maybe getting to be more myself. When you’ve got kids like Krillin being such a weirdo and Kakarott constantly goofing around, I don’t have Nappa and Vegeta on my ass so much.

Dragonbabezee: You don’t think it changed you? That’s funny, because one of my readers @thenimbletree has stated how much she loves the way you view Bulma and interact with her.

Raditz: The way I view Bulma? [for the record, Raditz is blushing] You mean the way I view Bulma as a pain in the ass? Like I would ever!

Dragonbabezee: Like you would ever what?

Raditz: Bah! There may have been a spark once, but you know, every day I’m thankful that that didn’t happen.

Dragonbabezee: I think Nimbletree was referring to the quality of your friendship with Bulma. Do you have anything to say on that subject?

Raditz: Friends? Yeah, I guess it could be viewed that way, though Saiyans do not have friends-

Dragonbabezee: Save it for someone who believes it.

Raditz: ...Well. I guess I could say that she’s like the annoying genius sister I never had. Actually, she kinda reminds me of my mother, sometimes. [shudders] Even if I was interested, Vegeta’s got that territory ring fenced, if you know what I mean.

Dragonbabezee: Hmm. Interesting. This dovetails quite nicely with a my next comment and question. Firstly, @vbprl would like to thank you for getting everyone drunk and high on delirium poppy juice, leading to the fake wedding scene and the rest of the craziness.

Raditz: Oh, yeah? Why?

Dragonbabezee: Because...you know what, never mind.

Raditz: No, why?

Dragonbabezee: Nothing you need to know.

Raditz: What exactly-

Dragonbabezee: The next question is from @brinker-hadley, and she wants to know what you think of Nappa’s creepy hatred of women, and why it hasn’t affected you as much as it’s affected Vegeta and Brolly?

Raditz: Oh. Nappa’s got a turd in his soup about women all right, and he does talk some shit. I can’t take it seriously - I mean, what’s not to like about ladies? I love their breasts, their butts, soft skin, faces… At least the Saiyan-looking ones - the pretty ones, I mean.

Dragonbabezee: And that’s that’s all you like about women?

Raditz: Their...hands?

Dragonbabezee: Their brains? Personalities? Agency as sentient beings?

Raditz: Everyone’s got brains and personalities! Not sure what you mean by the last bit. But yeah, if you actually get to know some ladies you’ll realise how full of shit Nappa is. I’ve always known that old bastard was twisted, but I guess Vegeta and Brolly are too ignorant of lady-kind to know any better.

Dragonbabezee: One last question from me - how are you enjoying the Sphere Field Tournament?

Raditz: It’s a bit of a yawn, to be honest. It’s all acting - not what I’d hoped at all. But the fans are great! I could get used to that!

POPPY & PARALLELS

poppy really does see the parallels between the crain family and her own, and it plays into the manipulative fantasy the house uses to twist her mind. when she looks at the crain family, she can’t help seeing flashes of the life she lived.

olivia --- herself, the most obvious parallel. both young mothers who took deep pride in their families, a bit mentally unstable, with illnesses that worsened over time. of course, poppy’s mental state worsened due to the tragedies she suffered, and she caused those tragedies for olivia, so like... i’m not even sure that counts, honey.

hugh --- poppy’s husband william, who left her behind and wasn’t able to save her from herself. she is drawn to hugh because of this parallel ;; he provokes the loneliness in her which william’s disappearance ( and preceeding infidelities ) created.

nell and luke --- poppy’s own children, jacqueline and eugene, who both died tragically. she bore guilt for their deaths the rest of their life, well into death... and by urging olivia to ‘wake them up’, she really imagines she’s helping olivia save her children, as she was never able to do.

shirley --- ugh, this one isn’t even rational, but shirley reminds poppy of hazel hill ( aka the sister she couldn’t stand, who she suspects murdered her children, etc ). they were both very organized people, aloof and proper, who liked to have their own way... and something about shirley just gets poppy’s hackles raised immediately.

steve --- edward hill, the “true heir” to hill house, set to inherit it all when he came of age. poppy killed him. he was the crispy cellar ghost. not a great legacy for steve to inherit, but she’s intrigued by him simply because watching him grow from a boy to a young man --- just as edward did, before she, y’know --- reminds her of the passage of time, and what she was so desperate to destroy.

and theo’s just sort of there, idk, poppy isn’t weird about theo.

Also, quick disclaimer - while I won’t be writing anything but gender neutral and het reader characters, you all are free to do so with my ladies!

I’m still working on everyone’s personalities, but I can give you guys the basics, as well as my designs for them! Keep in mind, theses designs are very sketchy and some are on lined paper, not to mention that this is what they would wear underground, I haven’t yet drawn their topside fashions, but as I feel it’s important to the characters personalities, I will say what kind of things they would wear topside. Let’s get started with the one who started this.

Tinta! Aka lady Ink!

She’s bubbly and hyper and pretty much socially inept. Her back story is similar to that of canon! Ink, save for two things. One, she ends up regaining her SOUL (like the Ink I write) and, two, instead of getting “tattoos” from falling through the code, her bones splintered, leaving scars once she finally got them healed. She still suffers from phantom pain but usually hides when she gets a pain episode so others don’t worry. Whereas Ink has memory problems, she is rather intelligent but comes off as ditzy due to her poor social skills. She almost always wears fully covering clothing because she’s self conscious of her scars, but she loves Decora Kei fashion and will wear it if she can find a way to cover herself completely.

Side note, Tinta was designed for my own genderswaped self ship, and while I don’t mind her being shipped apart from that ship, please don’t ship her with Error, genderswaped or otherwise, as i am really squicked by that particular ship.

During the time that I made Tinta, @nighttimepixels started making her Lilytale ladies and I was inspired to make more than just Tinta, so I ended up starting with Underswap. Aside from Tinta, these ladies have the most development

This is Muffin. She is training to become a royal guard and wants to look adorable doing it. She actually wears full armor under her magical girl inspired outfit. She looks like she’s just goofing around, but when push comes to shove, she’s dead serious. She’s who you face during genocide and she’s just as tough as canon Sans, maybe moreso since she’s been actively training. She also uses her cute looks to manipulate others into doing what she wants and into underestimating her so she can use it into getting the upper hand if need be. She’s still a kind caring monster, she’s just not naive. She believes in others to a point, but if you pass that point, she knows there’s nothing more kindness can do. When she gets topside, she still loves dressing like a magical girl, but she leans more into general Lolita fashion and anything super cutesty, although she does like to secretly try out biker esque fashion.

Then there’s Honey Bun, or Bunny, as Muffin calls her. She is a nervous bundle of anxiety and self esteem issues. She pushes herself to the point of breaking to try to both not worry her sister and impress her. She attaches herself to the fallen human because she relates to them, seeing as she’s mute most of the time if her sister isn’t around. Even in the genocide route, she believes that the human can be a better person if they just try a little harder. She’s a worrywart obsessed with those huge twisty lollipops, which she sucks on when she’s nervous. Her fashion sense consists of comfy, easy to wear clothes like sweaters and sweats, but when she goes out, she just wears a lot of maxi dresses

Also, shes the only one with a canon sexuality. She’s bi!

Solena is like Sans but less nihilism and and depression. Instead she has intense paranoia and trust issues. I’ll admit from this characters till horrortale, I need to work on my ladies personalities. Topside, Solena, or Sunny, wears punny t-shirts and skorts, with toches of casual hipster fashion, dispite not really knowing what a hippster is. She just likes the look.

This gal is Papagina, or Poppy. Yeah, that’s all I got for her, she needs some work, sorry. I see her wearing super summery clothing 95% percent of the year, and mixing it with rock chic for the other 5%.

Scratch is a bad girl with a heart of gold but will vehemently deny it if its pointed out. She’s protective of her sister but will take every chance she can to tease and mock her. But only she’s aloud to do that, anyone else talks shit gets hit. She’s also extremely good with kids and teaches the kids in Snowdin how to fend off bigger meaner monsters. She actually has a secret desire to be a mother of a lot of kids, but will again deny it wholeheartedly. She and her sister become their Frisks legal guardian, as well as their universe’s Chara and Asriel (All of my versions of all universes have Chara and Asriel come back, because kindly screw canon they get happy endings now) because the King and Queen need some serious therapy before they can take care of their kids again. She’s super active as a PTA parent because of this. Topside, she wears biker chic and Hot Topic, as well as some punk mixed in

This is Slash and she holds the award for the MOST FRICKEN REDESIGNS WTF. I could not get her look down for the life of me. ANYWAY, she is Captain of the royal guard and only those with a death wish try her. She’s fiercely protective of the monsters she deems worthy of her presence, and this includes her sister, even if she busts Scratch’s chops every time she sees her. But, again, only she is allowed to do so, lest you become the next human shiskabob. On the surface she wears preppy clothes and tailored suits and, occasionally, rocker chic.

This is Pumpkin,and She’s not exactly a fan of killing humans for food and unlike every one around her, never really got used to it. The guilt still eats at her. She’s got a box in her room full of tiny bits of the bones of her victims, that she promises herself that if they ever do make it to the surface, she’ll give her victims a proper burial. Her necklace contains the hand bones of her first victim, which she wears so she can remind herself of what she’s done and what everything important to her has cost. The ghost of her first victim still haunts her, but he’s actually become more of a friend than a poltergeist. Topside, she wears casual, nondescript clothing, still wearing her necklace underneath until she can forgive herself for what she had to do.

This is Candy. Candy never actually killed any humans while underground, although she did eat them. She tries to be kind to all the humans she.meets, because she knows what fate entails for them. They should have a friend who stays with them before they die, right? She usually ended up as the one who distracted the humans as Pumpkin killed them as quickly and as painlessly as she could. She tends to make her own clothes even on the surface.

And even though I won’t be writing her, have a genderswaped swapfell sans, or as I like to call her, Cupcake

The Third Park (PM AU/Spin-off)

Get to know the main characters - Eleanor x Damien

Summary: Damien Nazario had just three rules to follow:

1. Don’t date coworkers (something he learned after Alana broke his heart);

2. Stop getting involved with clientes (something he learned after he met the Park cousins and started spending time with them. Too much time);

3. Don’t fall in love with a Park (something he learned after Allen).

And yet, here he was about to break all these rules at the same time because of Ellie.

Note: A spin-off of Perfect Match. The story takes place two years after they brought Eros down we don’t know if this is going to happen, but I believe so. I hoped that Damien and Nadia would become a couple (since I am such a hard Namien stan), but then I realized that Steve Tennyson is a total sweetheart and pure soul and that he would do anything for Nadia because he loves her so much, so... Yep, that was PB’s way of saying “stop trying to make Namien happen, it’s not going to happen”. And I felt sorry for my favorite skeptical Puerto Rican detective, because I love my robot girlfriend Hayden and I decided that my PM MC Allen will choose her in the end. So, I had this headcanon... What if there was another Park cousin? And now we have my OC Ellie. Aaaaand I really shouldn't be doing this because I have like 20934302 more things to do, but... here I am. And I already wrote three parts. Fuck. Someone save me from myself, please! JK I regret nothing. Yet.

it’s def not finished, but idk. teaser/this will probably never HAVE a full fic but. it’s kinda cute?

modern au fake relationship stuff with Will n Wilson sort of climax scene, aka ‘okay to get them to leave me alone would u be willing to almost marry me?’ aka I have not been to a wedding since i was like five. research was weird.

it’s just self-indulgent fluff. happy valentine’s day.

Wilson tried not to wince as the music starts, he was already steeled for the fact Will wouldn’t even show, just as they’d talked about two days ago, on the veranda of the restaurant they’d all gone to after the rehearsal.

Despite his mother's want of a full traditional ceremony, Wilson had coaxed her into a more relaxed procession, it starting with him at the altar because they didn't have a huge friend group, and Will's only family was Jack and the kids, while Wilson's family was sprawling.

It also made William vanishing easier.

He’d looked determined as they talked about the plan, and really, after all the trouble Will had gone through for him, Wilson couldn’t help but understand. Once this mess was over and done with, he wouldn’t even blame William for not wanting to even be friends anymore. It’d just kept spiraling, and selfishly, once he realized it was more than just platonic love with Will, Wilson had held on. Excuses were made, and more time was spent pretending that they were a couple.

More time both of them making stupid jokes, sarcasm at his parent's antics, living together. More nights in the same bed, talking quietly. More owed lunches, for putting up with all of this, and Will, in good humor, mentioning that at the very least he was fed well for all of this.

The rare staged kiss, which always provoked both thrill and worry.

Their fake engagement rings, which Wilson couldn't help but sigh when he had to put it away until the next visit, wishing it wasn't just a bargain bin set, a pair of cheap fakes, but instead something actually gold, with a real gemstone like amethyst, not glass, that he'd picked out for Will specifically.

Still, he'd fucked this up royally. By not actually asking Will out the first time, too scared he'd lose his best friend, but wanting more time closer than just friends with him.

One deep breath, and he was prepared to feign sorrow, thinking it was cold feet, not their plan. Apologize to his folks for wasting their time and money, though really, he could care less about their money. They’d been the ones who pushed for a traditional wedding, even if the attendance was his family, their friends, and Jack and their kids, and since they said they’d pay, he relented. Really, besides feeling sorry for himself, he was mostly sorry his siblings had to come out with their families. He’d never thought he’d be jealous of them. But there they were, with spouses they cared for and loved.

And then there was their friends, who'd insisted the moment they heard even the slightest rumor, even though they knew this was all a show. He didn't feel sorry for them, just... annoyed.

The room was silent, save for the music; it felt like everyone else was also holding their breath. Wilson couldn't help but bite the inside of his lip, trying to hold back tears that were threatening to fall, at least he could claim nerves. God, he'd made so many mistakes and Wilson just wanted it to be over. Let him go wallow in his broken heart already. He could tell Willow and Woodie were both fidgeting behind him, they were probably tired of this too.

The door opened. Maybe Charlie to say William wasn't coming, his folks had demanded at some sort of best man/woman for both of them, they wanted at least something traditional, even if their son wasn't traditional in the slightest. It'd have to be Charlie, Wes hated speaking.

The music didn't stop. There was no words indicating William was a no show.

So Wilson turned. Wendy and Abigail were first, they had demanded to be the flower girls for their uncle, fake event or not after Jack had explained it to them. His youngest sister's daughter, Wisteria, had joined them, a few years younger then the twins.

Webber, Charlie's nephew and the not official, but basically adopted younger brother of the twins with the rings, also cheap, he'd bought them. Though, with the next sight, Wilson wished he'd spent more on them.

William, with Jack next to him, with the real flowers Wilson's mother had insisted on. If he remembered the mix; poppies, lavender, and lilies. William had acted engaged in the planning, and chose his favourite flowers.

He finally met William's eyes, and there was the same look on the other's face as two nights ago. Wilson's heart pounding so hard he couldn't hear the light whispering from their friends, the right side still silent.

It was as hard to believe as someone claiming he'd finally gotten his dream job, even with the quiet "Hey," out of Will's mouth as he joined him at the altar. Wilson turned to face him, a little early, but no one stopped him.

Stars, he still might cry. William had a soft smile across his flushed face, and was fidgeting slightly, more obvious without the flowers in his hands, already passed to Charlie. His throat couldn't form words, it was like all of a sudden he couldn't find words at all. Their hands though, like they had during rehearsal, slid together, and it was comforting.

Thank the stars they'd asked his old mentor, Wickerbottom, to be officiant, as they'd be able to let her in on what was going on. She, thankfully, was always articulate, even in surprising circumstances and even as he couldn't make out many of the words, the mere sound helped.

William was here. William was still here.

There was a period of silence and Wilson realized that it was one of their turns to speak and oh hell, he couldn't remember the vows he'd only really wrote two days ago and could recite when they were fresh.

"I... I didn't expect to fall in love, you know." Was the first thing out of his mouth and boy did it sound dumb to him, and most likely weird to his folks. "This wasn't what I expected to happen when all this began, a-and honestly, I wasn't expecting to be standing here today, with you. You were... are, one of my best friends. And when I asked for your help, it was for a number of reasons, but one, one that's extraordinarily important, came to light after the fact, and I realized I couldn't let you go. You're so special to me, William. We've been friends since college, and... and, I think I should have realized it sooner. And I'm sorry for that." His face was red, that was completely off script and not at all the vows they'd written.

"Wilson..." Oh stars. That smile was going to kill him. "This... has probably been a long time coming for me. When all this started, when I was helping you, I went in with an aching heart, it was probably unrequited, but you were one of my best friends, and you've helped me so much... I wanted to help you when you needed me. Even if it ended up with my heart breaking in silence."

Oh no. Oh hell. How much had he... Wilson could feel the tears almost budding, how much had he hurt Will through this, by not saying something. Did this tear him apart earlier then it had for Wilson. Had William felt used after a point. That, alone, was terrifying. Will had been though enough of that.

"So I kept on. And I decided to keep going, no matter what laid ahead, and decided to lay my feelings bare, once and for all... even if it ended up a mistake. Because if I ran, I wouldn't know. And so I'm here, right now, with you. My best friend. Someone who makes me happy, who I trust and love with my whole heart. As long as you want me." William's voice broke on the last half of that sentence, and there were tears running down his face, and that egged on Wilson's.

Wilson released the other's hands, then pulled William to him, instead, and hugged him tighter then he'd expected he would, their positioning letting him whisper into the other's ear, along with comforting both of them. "It was breaking me to know you weren't supposed to show." He wanted this so bad, William and him in the house he'd inherited, without his folks around. To wake up and see William sleeping still, the other was a light sleeper but he slept late when he wasn't disturbed.

"I wanted to say something... even if you rejected me at the altar." Will whispered back. "I thought you would..."

"Never. Stars, William, how could I? I love you." This close, he could feel the start of what would have been a sob, before being swallowed down.

"Th-they're waiting on us, you know. Not that it exactly matters, this is about us, but I'm starting to feel a little like a show, and not your groom." There was a swallow, "Though, I'd assume they're just living for the drama, if I know your family and our friends." A little humor and Wilson chuckled, pulling back to wipe a thumb under one of Will's eyes, lifting the glasses.

There was an amused hum before Wickerbottom game an "Ahem?" to convince them to return to how they had been.

"Now that we've heard them speak... are there any other vows you two would like to say before I continue?" There was a teasing smirk on the professor's face, and both of them looked away before nodding.

"Wils-"

"Will-" They'd both opened their mouths at once and quietly laughed, Wilson squeezing Will's hands, asking to go first. "William. I vow to be with you as long as I can, and to love and support you always, and in whatever I can do, to be with you no matter how things are around us. To make amends for how foolish I was, and make you happy. To make you laugh when you are sad and when I can't, to hold you and love you still." Off the top of his head, wasn't too bad, if he said so himself.

Even with tears on his face, the vow seemed to have been received well, eyes wide, staring at him with a smile. "Wilson, I vow to be with you through whatever life throws at us, through bad jobs and broken machines and failed plays, as things don't seem so bad when I'm with you. I vow to love you, to care for you, to support you, to find solutions and working to make things better with you." Show off. "I vow to embrace being your partner, your husband, for the rest of my life."

He hadn't looked at anybody but Will since he'd stood up here, though he had a feeling the sniffling nearby was Woodie.

"We come to a close, in this ceremony, after a final question posed to both of these devoted lovers. Webber, dear, the rings?"

Oh god, he was going to replace these as soon as he could. Wilson mused on the design possibilities as the young man delivered the rings, sliding behind them.

He felt a tap, Wickerbottom handing him a ring, then William the other. "Now, if you would slide the rings onto the tip of each other's ring finger..." They both compiled, "Wilson Higgsbury, do you take William Carter as your lawfully wedded husband?"

"I do." That wasn't something he'd been expecting to say today, but it left him warm.

"William Carter, do you take Wilson Higgsbury to be your lawfully wedded husband?"

"I do."

"Would you both fully slide the rings onto one another's finger?" There was a pause as Wilson did it for Will, and Will for Wilson, this felt too surreal and wonderful to actually be happening, but it was. "With the power vested in me, I now pronounce you two wed, you may now kiss your groom."

Oh hell. It was simple and innocent, they've kissed before, unexpected and few, but this took the cake. This was real. Will's lips were warm and uneven, chapped, possibly bitten slightly in nerves.

It wasn't long before they drew back, to the triumphant noise from their friends, mixed with laughter, and clapping (along with a few cheers from his sisters,) from Wilson's side.

However, it was almost too tempting to stop himself from peppering William with more kisses, for every missed moment he should of been kissing him. Though, even the mere passing thought of that was dashed as his parents approached, his mother certainly upset with that frown on her face. His father looked like he couldn't even care.

"Wilson Percival Hig-"

"Wilson Percival Carter." Wilson interrupted. "I'll be taking William's family name, thank you."

"Wilson." She huffed. "I'm not even prepared to go into that little tidbit of information but what was that absolute farce of a ceremony! You made us look like fools!"

No, Wilson considered, he made himself look like an idiot, but that was fairly normal. "I'm completely sorry for deviating from your perfect, pre-approved plan." He managed a straight face. "I wasn't exactly expecting my groom to show up."

"What?!"

"It was supposed to be a farce so you would get off my back! It was always get married to this girl, she's the daughter of one of dad's business associates, I want grandchildren out of you, all your siblings have given me grandchildren, why haven't you! Do you have a girlfriend? I could arrange a date for you! Every time we talked it was always about my lack of a love-life, which I was fine with!"

"You were willing to let us waste our money! Why you self entitled..."

William stepped between them slightly. "You were the one forcing this on us originally. Demanding when we were getting married. If you hadn't, we would of continued to fake being engaged."

"Did your friends think you were dating?" Oh boy, she was seething, Wilson had seen that look in her eyes.

Stars, he was thankful for Willow at that moment, noticing the distress on both of their faces. "We had a bet going on if they'd own up to being in love!" She stated, drawing enough attention away so both of them could half embrace, one of their arms wrapped around the other's waist. Will was shaking, even if his voice was steady, confrontation was not his strong suit. "They might not have been properly dating, but they were both so love sick, it was almost sad."

"So this was all to deceive us." She almost hissed.

"It wasn't wasted!" He shot back, holding Will close. "We tried to get you to let us have a very small ceremony, but you wanted big. But, right now that doesn't matter because your money wasn't wasted. I'm married! To someone I love! Who I greatly would like to go eat some cake with after we both change, thank you very much." He turned and pulled Will along, the other having to take a few longer strides to balance himself again. "Let's go get ready for the party..." He whispered. "We can change and head to the restaurant, I don't want to deal with her for the rest of the night."

It was odd, he wasn't exactly expecting to actually have a reception. Maybe a self-pity reception. Cake and alcohol for one. Their hands were entwined as they headed to the small rooms where both of them had been given to change, and out of habit from being away from everyone, especially his mother, Wilson almost pulled away. He stopped, swallowing as he realized he didn't have to pull away, they were both legally married and genuinely together. It wasn't an act anymore. He could hold Will's hand without much of a reason. He could kiss him whenever.

Dirty Dancing Remake Review

So I've got to write a review about the remake. Before I start, let me preface by saying I adore the original, it's one of my all time favourite films (and I'm a huge cinephile). When I find out they were remaking it I was sceptical. Remakes tend to be awful, aside from Hairspray (2007) that is. Dirty Dancing is a classic, no matter your age. Anyway, on to my review. First off I'd like to start by saying I saw the ending first. I was at a client's house and I saw from Lisa playing the ukulele with Marco right through to the end. I did have to think, 'What is this shit and why on earth have they added this piece of crap ending onto it?' But then I thought, I need to see this all the way through. Fast forward to 5 hours later, and I'm fully prepared for a shit show that is going to waste 3 hours of my life with the only saving grace being that Colt Prattes aka Johnny Castle might just be the most beautiful human being I have ever seen. Imagine my surprise though when I realised, 'you know what, I actually really enjoy this'. Now, I still find the ending awful, and it breaks my heart that these writers don't believe Johnny and Baby end up together. But, the rest of it isn’t so bad, and let me tell you why.

The casting and characters:

First, I’ll start with Abigail Breslin as Baby. This was the biggest WTF for me. When I saw they’d cast her I was like ‘why?’. Don’t get me wrong, I love her as an actress. Little Miss Sunshine is a fantastic film and really showed her acting chops at such a young age. But as Baby, I was like ‘no!’. I have to say though, I was wrong. She was similar in age to what Baby is supposed to be, and she portrays Baby as a fierce woman who knows her own mind and what she wants. I particularly love the scene in which she’s learning to dance, and Johnny tells her to pretend like she has rhythm. The way she keeps dancing before realising what he’s just said, and then turns to look at him with almost a glare on my face is great. I also love the scene after Johnny rebuffs her in the dance hall, and she goes to his cabin to give him what for. She has this raw intensity, and I as the audience truly believe that she’s so heartbroken that she’s given herself to this guy and he’s just brushed her off like nothing happened.

Next, Colt Prattes as Johnny. I didn’t know who he was before this movie, and I was a bit like ‘oh, typical, a hot guy to play the lead who’ll be absolutely rubbish but nobody will say anything because he’s hot’. How wrong was I?! I loved Colt as Johnny. He’s roughly the same age Patrick Swayze was when he played Johnny in the original, and he’s also super talented. Not to mention, he’s a massive fan of Patrick Swayze and has said he’s watched the original approximately 40 times. He played Johnny in a slightly different way than Swayze did; he wasn’t as willing to admit how he felt about Baby as much as OG Johnny was, and when Penny told him to end it he did, unlike Johnny in 1987. Also, he paid Baby’s dad back the money Baby had loaned, and let her dad talk to him like utter crap without being so passive aggressive about it (I’m talking about the scene where Johnny visits her dad in the original and he makes a snarky comment about how Johnny knocked up his dance partner and then moved on to another one). I also have to say, Patrick Swayze was to die for in the 80′s, but Colt Prattes truly is a beautiful man, and I’d happily look at him in that lake for hours. Plus, his voice is just wow. Nuff’ said.

Finally, Nicole Scherzinger as Penny. Although Cynthia Rhodes was an amazing dancer, and fantastic as Penny, I found her character quite mean and rude to Baby at the beginning. It’s only after she learns to dance with the help of Johnny and Penny to do the show at the Sheldrake does Penny actually warm to her. Nicole Scherzinger is a genuinely nice person in real life, and she brings that into her portrayal as Penny. When Johnny is mean to her, Penny is nice and all but reprimands Johnny for his behaviour towards Baby. Plus, she’s the one who suggests that Baby do the show in her place, and even though she tells Johnny to end his fling with Baby, she gives a rather good reason as to why.

I have to give special mentions to Katey Segal as Vivian Pressman, Debra Messing as Marjorie Houseman and Sarah Hyland as Lisa. These three improved on the original characters massively. Katey Segal oozed sex as Vivian, and she was much more attractive than the original lady who played her (sorry!!). Debra as Marjorie was also amazing, and I loved that they expanded her storyline as the lonely housewife who felt abandoned by her husband. But the real star of the show has to be Sarah Hyland as Lisa. In the original she’s a sycophant who decided to lose her virginity to Robbie even after something happens on the golf course that she doesn’t agree with and he’s rude to her. Also, she has a go at Baby when she tries to warn her off Robbie, saying that Baby doesn’t care about her at all. Hyland’s version of Lisa is much better in my opinion. She starts off as being someone who just wants to get married, and makes no apologies for it. But she grows as a person in the film, not letting anyone take advantage of her and supporting her sister when she finds out what has been going on with Johnny.

The story:

I love that they don’t really change the plot, except for the end. It’s still the same story, a dancer from the wrong side of the tracks and a young innocent girl who fall in love through dance. But they extend on that, giving more screen time to B characters and highlighting certain issues.

The two major side plots: Robbie and Lisa and Marjorie and Jake are two of the things I love most about this film. The fact that they actually show what happens to Lisa when she’s with Robbie, rather than brushing over it, is something I was really impressed with. It’s something that happens all the time, a guy tries to take advantage and when the girl says no and wants to report it, there’s always some reason why she won’t be believed. In this case Robbie tells Lisa she was basically asking for it by coming onto him and bringing wine. Like, so she showed an interest in you, and brought something to drink. That is never a good reason to sexually assault a person. Also, the fact that this Lisa doesn’t go back to him to try and lose her virginity is something I like. I never understood why in the original Lisa still wants something to do with him, rather than kicking him to kerb after he hurts her. Plus, her little attraction with Marco is so fricking cute, and the way it’s played out stays true to the era. She’s a white girl from a privileged background, while he’s black and has to work at a holiday resort and take shit for fancying ‘the little white girl’. He’s warned off by Tito, and the reason being that the colour of his skin isn’t white. It’s perfect, and truly is what would have happened in the 60′s.

The Marjorie/Jake plot is good too, and Debra Messing is truly splendid as the lonely housewife who asks her husband for a divorce. I love how they both sing the same song, but in different ways. Hers is in front of a huge band on a stage with an audience, and his is a little acoustic set alone in the dance studio. The greatest part of it is that Jake’s eyes are finally opened when Baby gives him her speech after he sings, and then he goes to eat and realises that nobody is coming to join him. The rawness of Bruce Greenwood’s performance when he’s in the boat with Marjorie is beautiful, as the tears well up in his eyes and he apologises to her, not trying to make excuses for his actions but instead admitting he was wrong. I also particularly love at the end when they do the final number, and he turns to her and sings the song the way Johnny sang to Baby. This truly cements how much he does love his wife, and her reaction is so amazing.

Another special mention to the way they handle the topic of Penny’s abortion. It really hits home just what it was like in the 60′s, when abortion was illegal. Penny has to deal with it all on her own, and accused of sleeping around because she ends up pregnant. It’s a heartbreaking thing in both the remake and the original where she feels the need to explain herself to Baby, and then admits she’s scared. You can see it on Nicole Scherzinger’s face, that she has a bad feeling about what is going to happen, and as we all know she is right to be worried.

The singing:

Personally I love a good musical, and I feel in making some of the soundtrack be sung by the cast in the actual film, they stayed true to the original while having elements of the stage show. Plus, they picked people who can actually sing. Need I remind people of the woefully cast Les Mis where we had the evil singing voice of Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe. Two men who are fantastic actors but can’t sing for shit. I do have to agree with other reviews though, some of the songs on the soundtrack have been ruined by autotune and ultra poppy backing tracks. My least favourite being ‘She’s Like The Wind’. That scene, where Johnny is leaving and he hugs Baby is completely ruined by that shite played over the top. In my honest opinion that is the one song that should not have been messed with. Wouldn’t it have been lovely to have Patrick Swayze honoured by playing his version as the new Baby and Johnny are saying goodbye, or is that just me? My favourite song though has to be the final song, just because of the different characters singing it and what it means. Jake singing to Marjorie, Johnny singing to Baby. It’s special, and I do love.

Special mention to the acoustic song Marco and Lisa sing. I love it. I do. Nothing more to be said on this.

Now for the bad points:

This isn’t a totally unbiased review, I’m not swayed by a gorgeous face that easily. Let’s start with the thing we all hate, that framing story. First, what’s why the green screen? Could they not have shot it in NYC? I do like that they have her going to the theatre to see the musical and then it plays the film, but I still don’t see the point. Why did she write a book? What happened to her and Johnny? Did she become a doctor? None of this is explained at all. If you’re going to have a framing story, give it a point. I’d much rather have had a ten minute epilogue explaining it all (and them being together) rather than that. I read another review that said the original always suggested that Johnny and Baby was just a summer thing, whereas the remake hints that it’s real, they’re in love and it’s not going to end. I truly agree with this, so why the hell do they have her married to someone else? Not to mention, and again this was said in another article, she’s married yet it’s plainly obvious she is still totally in love with Johnny. She doesn’t even seem that interested in her husband, and almost looks embarrassed that he’s there while she’s in the middle of talking to Johnny. Plus, they have Abbie Breslin playing an older Baby (she still looks the same) and then they have this guy who looks like her dad playing her husband. That was some seriously bad casting in my opinion. Plus, they totally ripped off the end of La La Land. I hate the framing story, it’s actually the only real letdown I have with the remake. I can forgive some of the shitty covers, but not having Baby and Johnny end up together is the biggest no no ever.

If I had to write what had happened, I’d have kept it all the same right up until Johnny comes in. She’d have ran into his arms, saying how amazing the show was and how proud of him she is. Then the little girl would have ran in, and the babysitter would have apologised to both of them saying she’d gotten away from her. Johnny would have picked up the little girl and she’d have called him daddy, and they’d have walked off as a family together. Then they would have met up with some of the other characters, like Lisa and Penny who’d also come to watch the show. Why was it just Baby when Penny was practically his best friend? Like I said, complete rubbish.

Another bad point, I’m not too fond of the way they changed the final dance scene. I would have loved to see Johnny dance in this version the same way he danced in the original, with Penny and the other dirty dancers backing him up. Plus, as much as I love her, Abbie Breslin is stiff as a board. She gets some rhythm, and then she seems to lose it again. I do however think she nailed the lift, unlike what she was doing in the lake with Johnny. I like how they saved it right til the end, where nobody thought she’d do it, and then she did. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that she’s so stiff, and nothing at all like Jennifer Grey in the finale. Like I’ve said though, I love the singing.

Finally, I totally agree with what people say about the dancing not being that dirty. In the original, where Baby helps Billy carry the watermelon, they walk into a room packed with people. Baby almost gets knocked over a few times, and quite a few people look at her funny. Plus, everyone is really sweaty. It’s nothing like that in the remake, and I know exactly the reason for this. ABC is a family company, and they took a film that was a classic, and reworked it into a family film. Sure, they still have the scene in Johnny’s cabin with Baby and Johnny, but it’s much tamer than the original. You see Baby’s bra strap, and that’s it. Plus there’s no clips of them actually in bed, it’s just implied that they have sex. Another thing is that they layer Abbie Breslin in so many clothes. In the original, when they’re in the lake, Jennifer Grey is wearing this ultra thin top and bra that you can practically see through when wet, and when they’re practicing dancing she is wearing a leotard with fish nets and a crop top. I don’t know if this is because Abbie Breslin is more curvy than Jennifer Grey or not, but it doesn’t really stay true to life. You wouldn’t practice dancing in a shirt, tank top and jeans. You’d literally be a panting sweaty mess by the end.

All in all, like I said earlier, I enjoyed the remake way more than I thought I would. Yes, I’d do away with the framing story, or change it completely, but if you just switch the film off at the end of the final dance sequence we can just pretend it doesn’t exist.

Overall, it gets a 7/10 from me

Lost my precious cat Lucky in November. I know exactly how you feel. It took me months before I could touch another cat (February). But as much as I miss him, it gets easier. Above all I know that he wants me to be happy. And I’m sure yours does too.

This is Cosmo. He enjoys licking things for hours, cuddles, and being annoying. I can’t recall a funny cat story but he will really lick the shower curtain for hours if you let him and I have no idea why.

hey there! here’s some of mine: the first cat was my boy sox. he passed away when he was 4 years old out of nowhere–we assume a heart condition.

the pug is gizmo, who is 9 years old now (they were about the same age). the ferret, mei, came about a month after we lost sox.

the chubby tabby cat is one of the cats who lived with me when i lived in Japan. her name is hanabi (means fireworks) and she’s probably four or five now? she loved me and slept in my bed but she doesn’t like my host mom much. wish i could’ve taken her home with me.

ik i’m a bit late to the cat meet & greet (because i was asleep) and also idk how to submit multiple photos so this is a post but i heard abt poppy and i’ve had that happen a few times so i know how devastating it can be.

these are my 2 cats patrick (yawning) and cally (doesn’t like the flash.) they’re half siblings but we rescued them both at different times.

Cally is six but still the size of a kitten, super smart, a total grump but loves strokes and sitting on my lap (and laptop.)

Patrick is 3 (i think?) and an Absolute Idiot. seriously, you can go to step/sit on him and he just won’t move. Follows us all the way when i walk the dog, loves tummy tickles and sitting in the most inconvenient places imaginable & refusing to move.

I’m so sorry for your loss, losing animals is one of the worst things imaginable… ): I lost my baby Rascal here about 6 years ago to a very sudden and agressive mouth cancer when he was only 11, and still miss him terribly to this day. I know it wasn’t nearly as sudden as your baby’s passing, but I can surely sympathize with the shock of how fast and unexpectedly these things can happen ;-;

He was a Rowdy Boy™ but also a total sweetheart of a giant melty fluff ragamuffin. He was my best friend growing up, one of those cats who could always sense when something was wrong and would always jump in my lap and purr and rub my face and cuddle when he knew I was upset. I hope he can keep your baby company as they have many many more catventures in the stars 💜✨

I hated losing my cats : (( I actually lost one of mine ( he’s the black and white spotted one here. His name is spot spot but we called him pouder ((literally poo-duh-er)) this November and it was very heartbreaking. He was only 3 and was this little 15 pound cat who’s gender we couldn’t actually tell so we just used male pronouns and loved belly rubs and chirped like a birdie. Thankfully I have one of my other babies still, Mamakitty !! She’s the gray one in here !! I love her !! She’s very sweet and will love on you 24/7 but if you leave the room she will meow until you get back or come and find you !! another story about smokey and food: dad’s girlfriend at the time (now wife) made us a pan of brownies, and we left them on the counter overnight. when we woke up, half of the pan had been chewed down. dad thought it was me and my brother at first, until he looked a little closer. what did he see? kitty nose prints. -n- smokey would also open cabinets to steal bread and fling it all around the house, which necessitated baby locks on the cabinets. he was. smart in the dumbest ways.

He was our neighborhood stray for years until he started making friends with our other cats through the glass and when winter came, we couldn't help but bring him in. He's incredibly buff but not feral, vet says he was probably abandoned by his last owner. He's very kind and shy and polite and the only noise he makes is little squeaks when he jumps we love him to bits

en-el-espanol-de-la-rae asked: my mom head a cat hus name was agüi (a mix of the spanish word for water n here bc apparently they had found him by the river) n he was Very Clingy and liked to climb and his fave resting spot was around ppl's necks for some unknown reason so a common sight in our house was agüi around someone's neck... i dont have pics of him but he was v photogenic my mom took a lot of pics w him in college n took him everywhere

au: emu is a computer whiz who meets sentient computer virus pallad one night on the web

oh boy this sounds a lot like a TOME au (animated webseries with an ai learning friendship) so im going to go off that basis. this is a quick write-up so capitalization may appear/disappear whenever.

emu is the brilliant lead programmer in a small team creating an interactive vr-based fighting game. it’s had several sections: people who want to fight, people who want to do arcade games and hang out, and people who want to do both.

the team has solved that with tsundere advice from taiga hanaya, affectionately nicknamed their marketing dept despite him A). never playing the game B). never planning on playing it C). always complaining abt it and his idiot friends to whoever he meets.

emu is in charge of the overall stuff, poppy is in charge of the music (obviously!), hiiro is in charge of the character designs but it’s mostly his gf saki who has the art skills for it. hiiro focuses on the weapons.? hey this actually works out rlly well w/ the “ex-aid cast as webmasters” thig.

anyway, kiriya does the scenery animations and coding, and emu develops the combat system in addition to every other odd job. their first test player is world-renowned gamer nico, aka taiga’s “annoyig” younger sister, who harrasses the other developers into letting her try it out. she then appoints herself as head of pr and begins blogging teasers for it.

one night when it’s late and everyone else has gone home emu is exploring the world he and his friends have created when he finds a grey cloud similar to old tv static. within it are tiny, dancing specks of magenta, yellow, and cyan. he walks over curiously. “hello?”

“who are you?”

“pallad. that’s a pretty name. my name is emu.” he reaches for the darkness, which swirls and manifests into a dark-haired figure with pixels for pants and hot pink sleeves that are way too long. a few cords are draped across their shoulders and their excitement is absolute.

they smile promisingly and then vanish.

emu tells the others abt this incident the next morning when they’re all hung over. no one believes him.

after the game is released dan kuroto, one of emu’s industry rivals, joins just to check out the competition. he’s made it his goal to be the best player there is, wanting the imaginary skill level title of “game master.” nico kills him on sight as she’s been grinding since before the official release.

emu meets pallad again, swinging on a vine that’s coded to be unswingable. he grins, happy to meet his friend again. “how are you enjoying the game’s release to the public?”

Emu laughs gently. “Yes, it sure is. I’ll tell you what, you can use that abandoned mansion whenever you want some peace and quiet.”

They slide down the vine to land right next to him. Their brown eyes burn with intensity from a new emotion. Emu finds himself pulled in by their curious and trusting nature. He also wants to protect them from prying gamers or the arrogant ones. He pulls out his custom-made weapon, the Gashacon Keyslasher, and holds it out to them.

Pallad looks back at him, tilding their head curiously.

“I… uh… want you to be able to protect yourself if you meet anyone that you don’t like.”

They don’t sound insulted, just… amused.

“Well, I want you to be able to protect yourself if I’m not around. I’m busy with the game sometimes-”

“I’m a game creator. I made this with my friends. Sometimes the maintenance gets in the way with talkingwith people.”

“Eh?”

“You helped make this?”

“Thank you for your help,” Emu murmurs, taking Pallad’s hand. Pallad nods, takes the sword, and looks intensely at him again. Emu nods and they vanish.

Nico tries to fight him after that with things designed to counterattack Emu’s special edition sword. She beats him up even more badly when he says he doesn’t actually have it. Then Poppy saves him asking why he doesn’t have it. He explains how he met Pallad again, and that he wanted them to have a place to go to have some quiet.

“Uhh. Dude,” Nico explsins, “Kiriya’s renovating that right now. You might want to go talk to him, and let this Pallad know if they do exist.”

“I’m not making them up! they do exist!” emu insists, glancing up as kiriya runs over.

“hey! how’s the long-term test going?” nico lands a hit on him before he jumps out of the way.

“it’s going well. hey, do you have any uses planned for that background mansion?”

“that old thing? no.” kiriya gives him a Look. “why?”

“i told pallad they can use it-”

“you’re still going on about that computer virus? look, emu, you hallucinated.”

“that was an excuse not to have to fight me flat-out!” nico crosses her arms, insulted. “i looked up to you as a gamer, and now you won’t even fight me?”

“he has a lot more roles to think about now than just as the gamer who could kick your ass,” kiriya says without thinking. he drags emu away while she’s processing that burn.

“HEY!!!!!!!! GET BACK HERE!!!####”

they go to the mansion, where kiriya unbars them from entering it. when they walk in, pallad is not there. emu tries not to feel disappointed, but kiriya is giving him The Tour. “when will it be made open to the public?”

“when we have 200 million users,” kiriya grins. emu gasps, clapping him on the back in-game. "you think we can make it that far?“

"nico knows what she’s doing.” he sighs as they sit back-to-back on one of the couches. “i believe in her.”

“don’t undersell yourself, man.” kiriya elbows him. “your status has also set the ball in motion.”

“i know, it’s just…not something i count on regularly, since i’m not in the spotlight all the time.”

“you’ll figure something out,” kiriya murmurs with a yawn. emu sits up at that.

“…..are you TIRED?”

“emu-”

“are you?” he asks gently. kiriya sighs slowly.

“………yeah.”

“go to sleep.”

“i need the money,” the designer tries to insist.

“you can have my pay for the week. go get some rest.”

“emu-” from the tone of his voice kiriya knows he’s lost the argument.

“you program best when you’ve gotten enough rest. we’ll be here, once you’ve done that and come back.”

kiriya nods, and the lightness behind emu shows he’s logged the fuck out. he sighs, used to being alone, and decides to restore the protections to the mansion, since kiriya didn’t have time to.

a presence that makes all the hair on the back of his neck stand up appears, and the entire room is filled with faint tv static and tiny magenta, yellow, and cyan pixels. he grins. “Pallad?”

a pair of eyes, like the ones in perfect puzzle, appear right in the faint static. they ask dryly.

“What a relief. I thought Nico had challenged you already.”

You are.>

“…..I’m… very flattered.”

“You managed to follow her without being caught?” Emu fights off a yawn of his own. “You must have set the new stealth record.”

They pause for a while, unsure how to proceed until Emu yawns.

“I want my team to be at their best.”

“What about me?” Emu yawns while asking. He’s too worn out to guess.

“They can manage without me…” Emu mumbles, his eyes closing involuntarily.

His eyes snap open at their angery tone. I trust, too.>

Emu gazes in wonder at the pair of floating eyes in the static. This conversation is beginning to unnerve him quite a bit.

Pallad senses this and their static shrinks into their signature character. They walk over to Emu, their static spreading to surround both players. Pallad murmurs, lingering on his name.

In his own room, in his apartment, Emu fidgets nervously. “What are you going to do?”

“How?”

Pallad seems to hesitate after this.

“Is there… anything else?” Emu asks gently. Pallad and their static seem to shrink away.

“What is it? You can tell me,” Emu says earnestly.

The static was only surrounding Pallad now, and was flashing at half its original speed.

“Pallad… can you hear These Thoughts?” Pallad’s avatar glances up as Emu steps within their static again. Emu leans in to smile gently at them. “I think that sounds wonderful.”

What he wouldn’t give to be able to take off his VR headset and sleep for once.

Pallad’s static regains some of their original enthusiasm.

“Yes. You can read my mind right now.” He closes his eyes, and the tingling sensation returns.

Eveeything goes dark, until Hiiro shakes his shoulder. “Hey. Webmaster. Wake up.”

“Emu-kun…” Saki murmurs, pulling off his VR headset. He had somehow slept into the next day wihout crushing it in his sleep.

“Your work was all done flawlessly, how the hell did you manage to do that?” Hiiro asks. Emu sits up slowly, blinking.

“Would you believe me if I said the game themself did it?”

“No……….” Both other Netroyals stare at him with worry.

“I didn’t think so,” Emu murmurs.
