I love the map of Aiga. The colors are cool, and I like how you put everyone’s origins and current residence there 🤩
🥚
Well it was a lot of fun to make and talk about ideas for mixing cultures in a different new way!
Now we have done a bit of development for Aiga and all the countries that are there, most of the work have been focused on the city of Nizorro.
The city draws inspirations from both New York and Bergen.
@just-a-space-rabbit was able to make a small sketch out of the city some while ago and have recently made the whole city in the game "City Skyline"
Tumblr media
The city has got some work (mostly just buildings that need upgrades) but here you can get a nice look at it ✨

The City of Nizorro is over a 1000 years old and was built in the crater of a meteorite. Ever since it was built, it has been a place that had drawn in supers from all over the world, and is also a cultural melting pot. With the hero agency base and so many superpowered individuals there, all the characters just ended up making their way over. Now, the reason hero agency all also the supers are there in the first place is... a story for another time.
Also, @tratieisdabest wanted you and everyone else to know that Aiga is a anagram of Gaia (ancient Greek goddess of the Earth) ⭐

You will try searching all over
For things that'll please and satisfy you
The world is a magnificent place
But only with your family will you ever find true happiness!
Don’t think that how smart you’ve become gives you reason to forget your family
Remember the words of wisdom given to you by your parents
Blessed are our ancestors who’ve walked these grounds and have gone to the heavens

Project 3: GoTV + the great ideas poster
For our third project in ARTS102, we were assigned to create a “Get Out to Vote” poster of some sort that adds our unique and certain flair to it. We could do any kind of design and elements to our poster if it conceived a message to the readers. We also had to choose an accompanied memorable quote that would be in our poster that would also leave an impression on our audience to go out and vote, especially in this generation. The quotes that I have chosen for this specific project is “Voting is not only our right—it is our power”. By Loung Ung. My process through this project is that I wanted to incorporate a fist somehow in the poster because in my mind it symbolizes power and greatness in a way. My next idea was that I wanted to make the fist go-through the poster like this 3D effect, overall making the poster pop out, the fist making you catch your eye first then the quote, hoping to inspire those to go out and vote. I do wish that I had a bit more time to decide what I wanted to do with my text in general, I used the layering effect on Photoshop for each sentence and used the colors of the art I had drawn on the fist. However, overall, I would like to say that I am proud of how my poster turned out!

So, we did some world building…
The story of ‘the Sidekick Club’ takes place on the planet Aiga. Also please note that the character labels are where they were born/grew up; all of them now reside in the city of Nizorro.
The planet bears some resemblance to earth, both in geography and that all places are a mix of different cultures.
Why did we make a whole map?
Just for fun ✨

AIGA Design Camp 2022 Lighting the fire inside us. American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) AIGA is the oldest and largest professional membership organization for design, with more than 70 chapters and more than 15,000 members. Services: Event Branding The Project: AIGA is a prominent resource for numerous creatives across the United States. The chapter in Minnesota hosts an annual design camp to inspire and uplift those people. However, the two previous years experienced trouble due to COVID-19. The 2022 Design Camp needed to come back and get people excited about the future of creativity in Minnesota again. The Solution: The lovely people that run AIGA Design Camp always exude the fun camp spirit you may recognize from movies or childhood memories. We wanted to showcase that in our rendition of the event branding. The final brand included a modern wordmark, charismatic character illustration, vibrant colors that all came together to make excellent branded elements, and an event that was sure to light the fire inside. #unobranding #branding #design #aiga #minnesota (at UNO Branding) https://www.instagram.com/p/CpViOTZpzAN/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

By now, you’ve gotten acquainted with design educator and design strategist Andrew Bass Jr. In the second part of our interview, we explore Andrew’s calling as a design mentor, as well as his early advocacy work for diversity in the design industry. (If you missed the first part, check it out here.)
We start off talking about Black design leadership back in the day, and Andrew tells the story of how he learned about the Organization of Black Designers and how that led to his work leading AIGA’s first Diversity and Inclusion Task Force. From there, we discuss the current state of DEI with AIGA and the design industry, and he shares what gets him excited about design now at this stage of his career. It’s really an honor and a privilege to talk with Andrew about his longevity in design and about leaving a legacy for generations to come!
For extended show notes, including a full transcript of this interview, visit revisionpath.com.
Revision Path is brought to you by Lunch, a multidisciplinary creative studio in Atlanta, GA.
It is produced by Maurice Cherry and engineered and edited by RJ Basilio. Our intro voiceover is by Music Man Dre, with intro and outro music by Yellow Speaker. Transcripts provided by Brevity & Wit.
