Tmnt 2012 hc:

I think that if the turtles were humanized they would all be black and/or blasian since they’re siblings and would have to have the same genetic tree (in 2012 I’m pretty sure they’re biologically related). However I love idea that they have slight differences between them since they hang out in different areas in nyc (a diverse city with a bunch of different cultures that I think would really interest them).

So anyways I hc that Splinter brought them all up to be bilingual, however Raph and Donnie aren’t as good at Japanese anymore since I think they aren’t as good with languages and they would consume a lot of English content growing up + Leo probably started translating Splinter for them and they kinda stopped needing to use it, so it faded a bit. I think Raph stopped speaking Japanese but can still understand it and could speak it (with some grammar and pronunciation errors) in a pinch. Donnie rarely speaks Japanese but he speaks it from time to time with Splinter, Leo, or Mikey. Leo is probably fluent in Japanese and English and I think her (Leo is transfem in my books) and Mikey can read Japanese while Raph and Donnie can’t. However, I think that Leo code switches and sometimes makes tiny grammar/pronunciation errors, with Mikey being the best at Japanese of all their (Mikey is aroace gender-fluid) siblings.

I don’t think Raph is a big language buff (unlabeled he/him non binary Raph supremacy), so he probably just knows English and Japanese. Meanwhile, I think Donnie knows code languages and probably taught themself (They/them for Donnie, source: me) obscure/dead/constructed languages like Esperanto or Latin. Leo probably can understand/read Spanish to some extent, though she’s barely conversational speaking it. She might also know certain phrases in a bunch of different languages since I hc that she wants to travel. Mikey, in my opinion, will be the best at picking up languages, probably fluent in Latin American Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and Cantonese, conversational in Italian and Korean, and has begun to pick up some Haitian Creole (though her pronunciation isn’t good because she probably sounds either very American or has WAY to heavy of an accent). They also codeswitch and mesh together languages pretty often, so his siblings have begun to pick up a bit of their languages, especially Leo (how she learned Latin American Spanish)

I think they speak primarily English among themselves and Japanese/English with Splinter, who is plays a little game with himself when he hears music to guess the language it’s in

Donnie’s Comfort Shell™

This is a DTIYS made for the Autism Swag Summit!! I wanted to draw a personal headcanon I have for Donnie, and figured it would be fun to make it a DTIYS of sorts :))

Donnie’s Comfort Shell™ is an older model of his battle shell, refurbished at Mikey’s request into something not intended for battle. Rather, its function is comfortability, being specifically designed so it can be worn for long hours on end without causing any harm to Donnie’s spine (while being entirely sensory-friendly), albeit at the cost of special gadgets and extra defences. Since it wasn’t meant to take hits or anything anyways, Donnie let Mikey (with help from Raph and Leo) assist in decorating it, hence why it’s brightly coloured and covered in doodles and stickers! 

For the DTIYS part, anyone is welcome to draw it and change how the shell looks! Add your own headcanons as pride flag stickers!! Change up the colours or the doodles in whatever way!! As long as it’s Donnie with some version of the Comfort Shell™ it’s good enough for me :D

Dr Benzedrine headcanons GO

Ok ok so first real post time!

Dr. benzedrine:

He was born in a wealthy part of the city april 27th 2003

Both of his parents were BLI employes who encouraged him from a young age to follow in their footsteps 

When he was 14 he got an internship at a medical facility (In the city 16 is considered an adult so it’s not unreasonable to start working a real job at 14)

The city often times doesn’t give people much of an opportunity to have a childhood and Benzedrine was one of the people who fell into that

He wasn’t very good at following rules though, often times he would get curious about the effects of things in a less than ethical way

He met Donnie (the catcher) when he was 13, Donnie was there to help with zones smuggling and was the person to show Benzedrine how fucked up the city was, he slowly started seeing more and more of it

He left when he was 14 turning 15 with Donnie, and soon after started living with (horseshoe) Crab, Donnie, and Sandman

Knowing about actual medical treatments gave the suitehearts a pretty big advantage in the zones compared to other crews

He's the closest with Sandman since they're both from the city and can understand each other a bit more

Also that motherfucker burns the fastest out of almost anyone in the desert, even after years of being there he’s still paper white but he has amassed a ridiculous amount of freckles

To most people Benzedrine is really mysterious because out of all the suitehearts he gets out the least, he’s very antisocial around people who aren’t a part of his crew

His style is weird even in killjoy terms, it’s lots of weird little hats and bright neon yellows, you could see the guy from a mile away

He’s agender and has really never understood the concept of gender as a whole since he just doesn’t have one, he goes by he/it pronouns

Hes also aroace (triple A battery if you will) and completely romance repulsed, he hates hearing about other people's romantic relationships and would complain about being nauseous if he saw any public displays of affection

Earned the nickname “Mr. medical malpractice” from Crab (he absolutely never had a real medical license)

And speaking of nicknames, no one but his crew can call it “Benze” it’s strictly for people he’s extremely close to, it’s also one of the only nicknames people can use

Unlike the rest of his crew Benzedrine never really uses zone’s slang as much as his crewmates, it was just never something that caught on for him
