six of crows is meant to be set in like the 17th century and aerial silks were invented around 1959 and my sister and I were just talking about how weird and out of place it is that show inej had a silk performance?

#like I know it’s a fantasy universe and things will be different obviously #but aerial silks are a relatively new circus practise?#don’t get me wrong my sister and I love doing silk tricks it’s a great acrobatic discipline and so pretty in performances #but inej was raised doing like high wire and swings tricks and #as usual #the show writers didn’t give enough of a fuck about anything to properly research what kind of circus inej’s family would have performed in #and gave it a weird modern feel to it idk #anti shadow and bone #anti sab netflix #inej ghafa #biblically accurate crows #book accurate crows #mine

Ooooo Willex circus AU? Hyped!!!

For someone with anxiety, Alex knows his job is a bit of a strange pick. Climbing a tiny ladder up to a tiny platform high, high above the ground only to fling himself into the air holding on to just a little bar attached to two pieces of wire doesn't seem like something people who get anxious easily would do.

But when he's in the air, he's flying. He's in complete control of his body, he knows exactly what to do, he knows exactly where the bar will be.

And most of all, he trusts his partner with his life. Willie will always be there to catch him, to grab him, just like they've practiced over and over a hundred, a million times. With every gasp of the crowd, Alex knows Willie will be at the end of it, steady hands and a firm grip, and a beautiful, sparkling smile just for him.

Yeah, Alex gets anxious about a lot of things, but two things in his life have never sent him into a panic. And that's being a trapeze artist, and falling in love with Willie.

“ You want to see a magic trick? “

Sigma had been doing little more than merely shuffling and spreading the cards out in a fluid motion, something done absently while in his own thoughts. There was always so much to do - and always so many people to memorize. New patrons, updated files or behaviors on previous patrons, so much to memorize and recall at an instant’s notice. The cards simply became something of a toy to fidget with. Should he go to play a new game, he would naturally produce a FRESH set of cards that would ensure both were on equal footing. But for a magic trick, that wasn’t necessary. Especially since Sigma hadn’t bent or otherwise marred the appearance of any of the cards.

Silver eyes regard Chuuya for a moment, watching as they seemed to be engrossed in the cards moving about like liquid water under skilled hands. He offers a light, relaxed laugh. It’s such a simple request, yet not one he often gets to flex.

“ Very well. I’ll show you one, though I’m afraid to confess my magic tricks are limited to card tricks. “ A brief pause. “ Or some alcoholic drink tricks, I suppose. “

He offers a smile before holding out a deck of cards with all gold and black backings, allowing for Chuuya to pick one. “ The six of hearts hm? Wonderful. Now place it back into the deck. “ Sigma shuffles the deck for a moment before place them down and spreading them out. And among all the previous gold cards was a single black and silver backed card that he picked up to reveal as the six of hearts. “ We can do it again if you’d like. “ He offers with a playful smile, setting that black and silver card aside before reshuffling the remainder of the deck.

“ Chose another. “ He flashes a smile, watching Chuuya pluck the two of diamonds to show. “ Now put it back in. “ He shuffles it and hums before placing the deck and spreading it out. Except this time they all remained gold. “ Ah. Well I didn’t say it was the card IN the deck that would change, now did I? “ Sigma’s silver eyes gleam with delight as he picks up the black and silver card he’d set aside earlier that HAD been the six of hearts, revealing it to now be the two of diamonds. “ Tada. “ He offers with a gentle laugh, bright eyes watching to see the mafioso’s reaction to the trick.

listen listen, I adore the parrot grian headcanons and fanart and fics probably more than the next person, but I feel like we're missing a trick here.

Grian should be a Starling.

Hear me out.

native to England (fits Grian cause he's English)

their plumage is black with a metallic sheen to it, causing their feathers to shimmer when the light hits them correctly

extremely gifted at mimicry (there are so many videos of starlings mimicing everything from R2DR from star wars to theme songs)

their nests are comically untidy, and they roost in both natural and artificial cavities (fits with his build themes a lot, and his chest monsters)

very social birds

very talented at aerial displays, their flight patterns are often coordinated with other starlings

they're passerine's, meaning they're perching birds

they have dense plumage, meaning they bathe a lot and have been seen having an affinity for water and enjoying it

they're songbirds

they're prey to peregrines, but have similar aerial capabilities so often (since they move in flocks) make escapes by simply outflying the fastest animal on the planet
