Support is the number one thing when it comes to fighting a mental illness. And the ones who have walked in the same shoes as you are the very best support system. There is no stigma in this group. There is no judging. We aren’t here to judge. We are here to understand and to let you know you aren’t alone in whatever battle you are facing. And that is why we started this group called You Matter.

I've been through a lot lately. Thought I'd capture some of the best moments. The tears of a clown, a phoenix on the rise. I was menaced in a Las Vegas casino in August and security indifference triggered an ADHD meltdown and near-hospitalization on a business trip. I'm now on my first post-diagnosis job search. I finally figured out the key to why I never quite fit in (thank you, ADHD diagnosis in June) and gratefully embraced every form of help I could find - therapy, medication, lots of self-care and self-forgiveness. The trauma of Vegas set me back and kicked open a Pandora's box of trauma, which means there's lots of work to be done. I am ready for it. I dropped some bad habits after learning why they existed in the first place. I found focus and the ability to play with a single thought for a while without it floating away like a balloon. I unfollowed and blocked until I felt at home and safe with my online community. I've lost my job, nearly my marriage, too much sleep thanks to adjusting medications and my patience with and respect for those that probably never deserved it. But I've also lost 25 pounds, my masks (ADHDers IYKYK - neurotypical, Google it), a bunch of insecurity and self-doubt and a few of the bricks I've carried that should never have been mine to begin with. I grasped one word and held onto it tightly - empowerment. Being unapologetic. Finding my voice and for once judiciously using it. Giving imposter syndrome an eviction notice. Recognizing who is part of my tribe and who's just enjoying the view. It is #adhdawarenessmonth and I promise you, I didn't know when I was diagnosed that it was something that had a much more pervasive hand in my life than I could have imagined. I'm a work in progress. I'm bent not broken. I'm grateful to be here. Time to get to work. #adhd #awareness #lateadhd #neurodiversity #adhdaf #neurofabulous #lizzytheriveting https://www.instagram.com/p/CkEQtH4O9wW/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
E invece no. Adulti over 30 non diagnosticati ADHD, autistici, DSA ce n'è un mare. #adhdawarenessmonth (presso Sanremo, Italy) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cjf5z4NIGEQ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I started the day, the week, the month even, with a plan, and then life snuck up behind me with a club, bashing me…
