Took advantage of lovely autumn weather yesterday to drive into the apple country of Pennsylvania. Now used as a shop, selling a variety of apples among many other things, and an event space, the barn is of an unusual type. Round barns have been relatively rare anywhere in the US.
we've hit both double digits and our first repeated state. a bit weird that it's idaho of all states but ig it had to be something
the two cities in this county are both fucking amazing, there's Council which is both a stupid name and home of the "World Champion Porcupine Race", and New Meadows, which is just a dumb name. there are so many meadows why is this the new one
there aren't really many cool buildings besides maybe the old railroad depot, but there's part of a ski resort so that's cool
overall i love this county so much
Lee’s Gettysburg Headquarters were restored by the Civil War Trust and it was originally the home of Mary Thompson. The Civil War Trust has since gone woke and even changed their name but we do thank them for their sadly woke work. Even the doghouse is the same as what was pictured in period photos. Also see R. E. Lee’s HQ FLAG!
there is this place called wilderness trail in edge, like near one of the points is this dope ass grove of second growth Quercus montana, like dope ass, grove,
I wanna look at lichen up there, they are a lichen magnet of a tree, and in a mix of an ecostystem, like if core were an ecotone ( i know that sounds fried but go there and it will make sense) it would be the wilderness of edge in adams county.
like how you gonna have dolomite barren cliffs of arkansas semi xeric interval and boreal matrix woodland ravines of the wisconsin retreat, while somehow having both northern temperate mesic woods and mixed mesophytic woods of the ilp. like make up your mind(jk it’s a perfect spot) but yeah, im gonna kidnap my friend adam who’s been workin’ a bit for them and maybe my friend shaun and william @theancient2 and go tree climb those lads, maybe even tree top scout for barrens to hit.
Old overgrown abandoned house - somewhere on Rt. 41 in Adams County, OH. Not sure how they got that way, but the dead, contorted trees that surround this old house make it look like some sort of cursed witch's cottage deep in the enchanted forest from some fairy tale.
