I recently bought one of the 'support tumblr medal badges' and was surprised to learn that that didn't include ad-free browsing, as most other social media sites consider supporting their site synonymous with not seeing ads. Are there plans to combine these offerings in the future?

Tumblr dear, I already have ad free browsing, it's called having uBlock. And I in fact had blocked this element already earlier but I guess they realized that too many people have it blocked so they changed its name to have it showing on everyone's face again so for anyone who needs it, it seems to be:

I changed to firefox and so far it’s been really nice! Unfortunately I can’t get extensions so I hope they fix that soon. But they really do ad-block for free and stuff. Also it’s very pleasing to just stare at!

Dear Tumblr, beloved hellsite, disgraced and broken as you are, many of us love you. Or in some cases, loved, past tense. New changes are making the site lose its individuality, and will eventually kill this already dying platform.

I know you need to make money, but this isn't the way to do it. I wish to support the un-shittification of the website by giving you money! Isn't that nice?

Tumblr, I've come to bargain. I would like to purchase a year (at minimum) of ad-free browsing. But if I do it now, it will make you think I like these absolute garbage changes to the site. I do not.

So I offer a deal. Undo the changes made to the website that make it seem generic, and I shall give you money. I encourage any of tumblr's hellions to join me in this pledge. The larger our numbers, the more likely we will see results.

Well, isn't that just fucking great. I just got an e-mail from tumblr that they no longer accept Paypal for getting an ad-free subcription, you now need to use a credit card. I mean, I use ad-block anyway, I just wanted to support tumblr. But I guess my money isn't wanted anymore.

Hello!

I'm using Tumblr Ad-Free Browsing and I am very happy with it so far, and happy to be able to support Tumblr financially at the same time.

I do have one feature request related to it: When opening links from the tumblr app (I'm on Android), they are always routed through href.li. This is rather inconvenient for me as href.li takes really long to load (every link is 10s slower to open than it would be without it.) I am not sure if my device is the issue here, or if it has to do with my geographical location that makes href.li specifically slow. (Other sites, including tumblr itself, work fine.)

I wanted to ask if it was possible to bypass href.li, at least for Ad-Free accounts, and just directly link things from the app.

Unfortunately, it is unlikely we will be removing that anytime soon, though reviewing this implementation is on our to-do list. However, ten seconds to load href.li seems really bad and possibly broken. If there are example links you have encountered, send them our way in a Support request!

In short, we can’t make any promises about anything, but rest assured, we’re looking into it!
