Fear

I feared joining the military that I would lose a lot of different people. I feared that the people I love would forget who I was, what I meant to them. Well, I am about a year and seven months into active duty. It hasn’t been the easiest thing but it hasn’t been the hardest thing to be able to do. Being away from the people I love, the place I love, and most of all the love of my life. Victoria. I feared wherever I went that she wouldn’t still feel the same way as I do for her because of the distance.. In fact, I feared that some other guy would come and sweep her off of her feet. I was wrong to think that, because till this day she has proven me wrong in every aspect possible. She’s has taught me how to love, trust, and to never let go. I can not thank the man above for blessing me with a person who genuinely cares about my well being. I am six thousand miles away from her and seventeen hours ahead and she still finds a way to show me that she loves me and doesn’t even care about any of the factors that are there to break us. The fear of losing her has completely left my mind. It’ll never happen. The people that I did bond and become close with before I joined have faded. They’re only a select few who show that they know I am still somewhere in the world and I am super thankful for those few. The place I love is growing, I can’t wait to see it. Seeing a different side of the world has humbled me in so many different ways that I didn’t think was possible.. I guess the fear that we fear can only mean change is what I am trying to say. When we fear something; we expect something in our minds, so we don’t do anything about the it. We just leave it alone. If people had will to overcome whatever they fear, only change is due. If you overcome something, you’re one step ahead from where you were before you overcame it. I guess what I am saying, is that we should just give into whatever it is we fear and go for it. Fear is one thing that holds us back from becoming a better person.
