Indiana Jones?
My gut answer is that Indiana Jones is far too manful to make it through, but I have been urged to consider the fact that he isn't just a bold Adventurer, he's also a Professor of Archaeology. He has expertise thar may well be relevant to the question.
I read a lovely essay on here once that talks about Indy's arc being one of acquiring a sense of reverence for the divine. I think the argument was that Temple of Doom should be understood as a prequel because it backpedals that characterization which becomes crucial in the Last Crusade. All this to say it might be an oversimplification to pigeonhole him as the kind of cocky that gets you immediately killed. He would accept the gift of the crucifix. He might have enough background knowledge to know what he's getting into, or at least recognize it when he sees it.
If he comes to Castle Dracula in his affect as Professor, he's got a fair shot at being wildly underestimated. But he also probably doesn't have his whip... not that the whip would help him much in this situation. The intercepted letters are exactly the sort of ploy he might try and fail at, after which the theft is inevitable - no whip, no gun, no hat (!!). Poor Indy.
I think though the thing he's most hampered by is the absence of mooks. Indiana Jones overwhelmingly survives his adventures because disposable mooks get killed first. Or he punches one and takes his clothes. He gets to Find Out because Nazis went first and Fucked Around. He relies hugely on other people, both allies and enemies, and there are no other people at Castle Dracula. Like... maybe Dracula's hired movers might be able to play a similar role? But they don't come into the Castle.
I don't think he'd go for the wolves, because be has a long history of noping himself away from clear and present danger. He also has the kind of face that seems to make villains want to tie him to a chair and monologue at him, and we know how Dracula loves a captive audience, so he might actually be funny enough long enough to stay alive. I guess it depends on whether Dracula enjoys having insults spat at him in impotent defiance from a guy tied to a chair as much as he enjoys forcing a guy to smile and nod in hopeless terror while still playing the perfect host. Indy has no problem being rude to people who have him tied to things. It's a toss up but I don't know if it's got two solid months of staying power.
On the other hand IF Castle Dracula has a secret escape tunnel (and what self-respecting castle doesn't) he can definitely find it.
Actually, actually though, if Indy can make it to the end of the sequence by playing the helpless nerd, can escape, because he's the sort of guy who will try to smuggle himself out in one of the dirt boxes. Even if he doesn't get out the door that way, if he can stay put until the movers arrive this becomes a Punching Mooks task, which is what he's good at.
So I am going to say that Professor Henry "Indiana" Jones can survive Castle Dracula, just because I want to see the inevitable exploding lieterwagon chase

We Need More Heroes Like Luke Skywalker
I remember how appalled I was in 2018, when I learned that many fans ranted and raved against The Last Jedi; to the point that both studios and director were subject to death threats. And the general outrage was mostly due to the depiction of the elderly Luke in this movie, who, according to said fans, would never have developed this way or done this and that. Some hate the movie until today.
I was appalled, but also surprised. Until then I would have assumed that the most popular Star Wars character is either Darth Vader or Han Solo, not the naïve, hotheaded farmboy who wanted to live adventures and then had to become a hero to save his loved ones and bring his family back together.
While Luke is my favorite character in the franchise and one of my favorite heroes of all times, until a few years ago I thought I was rather alone with my preference for him. It was surprising to find out that I’m not. I liked how he was portrayed in Episode VIII, and I did not understand how so many fans could feel so deeply offended.
Years later, I am still wondering why. Now here is my interpretation.
Tumblr media
From his first dramatic and iconic appearance, Darth Vader shows that he hates people. It makes no difference for him to kill, torture and traumatize.
Luke is the exact contrary: he personifies love for people. He always wants to see the good in everyone and to protect people and to see them happy. That’s why everybody trusts and likes him.
I have often heard Luke Skywalker being defined “beautiful”. Let’s be honest, he isn’t. He has that difficult to define quality that is usually called “cute”, a person who draws people in and makes them like him instinctively. What’s more, he seems absolutely unaware of it. He doesn’t think of using his charm to make people do what he wants them.
Fans do and did not identify with Luke because of his powers and aloof attitude (which he mostly displays in Return of the Jedi). They identify with him because being the most human of the bunch, he’s the easiest to understand. Luke always was the window to Star Wars, the most relatable character. Maybe the reason why newer SW content, while often good, does not touch fans that deeply.
Apparently, action film fans do not love characters like James Bond or Indiana Jones as much as one would assume. They may admire them, but they don’t love them.
I think movie fans, even those who watch action movies, are starved for compassion. We’ve had so many brave, badass heroes that we can hardly count them. Luke is still almost on his own, holding the torch for the thing he always stood for - love for people. Someone who encourages other people to act out of compassion, too. Who, for all his bravery, fighting skills and Force powers, is human and relatable.
But as far as I can see, until today, a character like Luke Skywalker, someone who embodies love for people, is still quite unique. Many heroes are good and kind, but they are not so deeply compassionate, willing to see the good in people, taking everybody the way they find them.
This goes for both male and female characters. During the last decades we’ve been flooded with “badass” heroines who fight and stand their ground and even kill, but I can’t think of a single one who was so deeply loved by the fans, none who could balance power and compassion in such a convincing, captivating way.
Luke is not even the actual protagonist of the Skywalker saga. He is the hero because he saves the situation, but he is not the central figure.
Anakin, his father, was the Chosen One. Luke was not the Chosen One.
People will admire and like Anakin Skywalker, and be impressed by Darth Vader, but both characters don’t inspire much love. Luke does.
These last years Disney studios are bending over backwards in their new tv shows to give the fans what they want, but until today, they haven’t.
The Luke we meet in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett is “the perfect Jedi”, a man obviously following the path of the prequel Jedi. This version of Luke does not embody compassion and love for people. This is paving the way for what will eventually happen to him and his family: Luke is learning to be detached, not understanding that his compassion is his greatest strength. He is obviously afraid of going his father’s way, and naïve as always, he believes he can avoid that by following the teachings of the Jedi.
The irony is that now many fans are rejoicing, believing that this is the Luke Skywalker they wanted to see when the sequels hit theaters. Despite their horror at Episode VIII, many don’t seem to understand to this day where their own outrage actually came from. This new version of Luke is cool. He’s aloof. He is kind, e.g. offering Grogu the chance to refuse to become a Jedi (on a side note: Luke or Anakin didn’t have that choice), but he’s not shown as a man who would follow his heart.
The Luke Skywalker from the classic movies is by no means perfect, he’s very human. He is open with his emotions, the living proof that strong feelings must not be dangerous. Usually he is associated with hope, but what he embodies even more than hope is the desire and willingness to bond with other people. Luke is a hero in his own right: he doesn’t need a villain to act as a foil.
Why would SW and other fans love this character so much, if he wasn’t so unique? Why, still after so many years, are we confronted with badass heroes of both sexes, and no one with whom we can actually respond with so much love?
The Last Jedi was not the problem. Neither was the character of Luke, or how he was both written and interpreted either in the classic movies or in Episode VIII.
I think the problem is that filmmakers, whether they tell Star Wars stories or others, are wary of depicting this kind of hero. There are many nerdy heroes too, noble and romantic ones, and not everyone of them spends all the time using his fists and weapons.
But a hero as a person who actually embodies love for other people? Sorry, I can’t think of any. The outcry of the fans who showed how much they loved their childhood hero has made one thing clear – viewers are not as keen on tough guys as one would think, not even in action movies.
When I hear and read that viewers want to see woke females who don’t need a man by their side and who will fight any bad guy with fists, brains and weapons, I have to laugh. This is obviously not the case, either fans wouldn’t get so upset about a hero they loved and still love due to the power of his heart, not his badassery. Many Star Wars fans dislike Rey, and some have even grown to detest her since she became all “independent and strong” in The Rise of Skywalker. It’s obviously not what fans want to see.
We don’t need any more heroines who ape men by using weapons, killing the bad guys and then riding into the sunset alone. As an audience, we obviously want and need more male heroes like Luke Skywalker.
And I mean the person he used to be, not the sanctimonious “Jedi” cliché the Disney studios are serving us with their new tv shows.

Apparently American men have a tendency to scope out danger, map out exit routes and potentially hostile men in their vicinity, when they enter an establishment.
This once again proves my theory that most Americans think they are in a movie. All of them are awaiting their “righteous violence” excuse so they can go all Liam Neeson on everyone. I’m surprised that Americans haven’t started shooting people who happen to knock on their making deliveries, or just happened to be at the wrong house.
It’s also part of the policing issue where every officer thinks they’re in an action movie. The officers think they are oppressed by the system, just like those cops on TV who break the law to save a kidnapping victim or deliver extrajudicial punishment to those who got away with it, handicapping them in their quest for justice and they’ll bravely circumvent the law to deliver justice and if they end up killing people then “shit happens, intentions were good.”

Okay, I'm just gonna do it: JAMES BOND. (Daniel Craig edition, because there are several and they're all actually pretty different from each other.) IN HIS FAVOR: --this man has his manners on LOCK. He's not going to be a rude houseguest, even once he determines he dislikes Dracula, which... --he's one of the foremost spies for one of the foremost agencies in the world. He knows something is up with Dracula probably before he even gets on the coach. Hell, he might know as soon as he mentions in town where he's going. And while the stereotype is "Bond goes in shooting and that's all he does, he's literally a shooting machine," he's actually really good at reconnaissance. --I don't know that it's ever been shown that he can be a charming conversationalist, but it's certainly implied, and if Dracula can appreciate dry wit he's definitely got that. --climb down a wall? James Bond laughs at your walls. James Bond does parkour. James Bond survives a 100-foot fall from a viaduct into a river. Even if he stumbles on his way down the wall he's going to survive. --this man has never turned down a gizmo or gadget in his life. He complains to Q when he "only" gets a gun that's bio-coded so only he can shoot it. He's taking that crucifix and he's immediately calling Q to find out if it can be made to explode. --"exploring where he's been told not to" is not only his job description, it's literally the entire plot of Spectre.
--shaving incident can literally happen the exact way it does in the book, he uses a straight razor. --I don't think we ever see him speak Romanian, but he is multilingual, so like, maybe. (He definitely speaks Italian and French, which might be helpful?) --he's used to working with a support team from a long distance. If he can figure out how to get a letter to Q, there is a gay little genius full of Millennial rage who's going to be raining hellfire and brimstone on the Maison de Drac. Speaking of which... --within days of Q and Bond meeting, they figure out how to decrypt a computer together. They don't need shorthand (although they probably both know Morse code). Bond can literally send him something in a code most people wouldn't even realize is a code and Q will be able to read it. --famously cannot force open a door until Q gets insufferable about it. Alas, that poor baby. --depending on where in the timeline you choose to set this, he might have an exploding wristwatch. AGAINST HIS FAVOR: --he's absolutely going to try to bang the Girlies.
--there are definitely at least two guns in his luggage and I strongly suspect that's definitely going to get Dracula's back hair up, in addition to which I'm not really sure how Bond would react to his guns suddenly being gone. --he's probably going to try something before the shovel attack, and I'm going to give 50/50 odds it's after he hears the baby dying. He might not be able to get to the Girlies right then, but he's definitely going to give it a go later (if he's not already dead). --if he doesn't have his guns he can theoretically still handle the wolves (he's pretty good at hand-to-hand combat), but we never see him have more than a two-on-one hand-to-hand fight. Basically if there are three wolves all at once he's probably fucked, unless he did in fact figure out how to make the crucifix explode (or you decide to be charitable and let him have the exploding wristwatch).
I think the question with the wolves is less if he can handle them and more if he thinks he can handle them, and if not, is he going to choose certain death over the possibility of being eaten alive by three beautiful women. And when I put it that way... I think he's choosing the Girlies. Bond has a great track record with getting femmes fatale to switch sides and help him. It's not going to work, of course (he's good but he's not that good) but it'll be what he tries. Which will keep him alive on the 29th but might get him killed (or at least slurped) on the 24th, since he's likely to roll for seduction rather than run away screaming and lock himself in his room.
But yeah, I feel like Bond has a lot of experience being held captive by Evil Foreign Counts, so he knows in principle how to convince the villain to keep him alive, or at the very least lock him into a death trap and then walk away. Which...is exactly what Dracula does in the novel, isn't it? #Bond Villain Stupidity.
We know Bond is skilled with cards. Maybe he and Dracula play Nintendo for two months. But he definitely won't take kindly to Dracula taking his suits. Q makes him pay for those things!
So yeah, if he can keep it in his veins, I think you've argued convincingly that James Bond can survive Castle Dracula, which must be a real relief to Daniel Craig after what happened last time.

it's fun how "villain gets tricked into confessing on video and now everyone hates them" is usually the resolution to a kids movie (monsters inc and coco do this for example) but i think the director from nimona is the only villain (that i've seen at least) who's wily enough to get out of being twitter cancelled

Thinking about being a nanny for single parent Dynamight and you’re done for the day, chatting about how everything went. Conversation turns casual and as you’re turning to leave, his son runs up and shouts “LOOK AT THIS!” and then yanks his dad’s shirt up. Chiseled flesh with a perfect amount of a happy trail leading to more that you’ve thought about once or twice. Heat rises to your cheeks and you turn away, but not fast enough and Bakugou catches your lingering gaze.
“Quit it, kid,” he ruffles his son’s hair but doesn’t pull his shirt back down. You make your excuses and leave. Bakugou wishes you a good night and watches you make your way back to your car, flushed.
