REVIEW: The Best Hardcore Band in Pa by Bill Elenbark
The Best Hardcore Band in PA is the coming of age story of Cyrus, Jeff, and Mindy as misfit teens in a place where they’ll never be considered “normal”—Cyrus for being gay and losing his mother at age twelve; Jeff for playing hardcore music featuring the “devil’s lyrics” and questioning his sexuality in this town filled with churches; and Mindy for being Korean in a place where anyone non-white…

Ok but Kevin AFTER the mudstone abyss is so funny to me. Like he's a mass murderer. He has severe trauma. He was abused as a kid. His crush left him after ten years with a letter. He's obsessed with blood. He's the prophet of his own religion. He built an entire town by himself and everyone in it hates him. He's a former capitalist. But he also knits and is a loving boyfriend and stepfather. Funniest character ever.

Get yourself a partner that let's you have hobbies. I'm serious. They don't need to understand that that hobby, or even necessarily enjoy it. They don't need to do it along with you, though that is a nice bonus. They just need to let you enjoy it.
I crochet; my partner does not and doesn't really understand it. But they enjoy watching me take a pile of string and make a thing. My mom and grandma both crocheted. Both of their partners hated it and actively tried to make them stop. My grandma was tougher than my mom and just kept doing it anyway; my stepfather forced my mom to sit in the garage if she wanted to crochet and even then still threw a fit until she stopped.
Never settle for someone who can't accept you as you. This includes friendships because they to are a type of relationship. Hobbies are healthy and fun and should be encouraged. So don't let someone steal that joy from you.

As bad as their relationship was, I can only imagine the love Norman possessed for his late mother Norma. (And I'm not talking "Soulbates" Ew). I'm talking about the undying familial love between a mother and her child, even from beyond the grave.

Well...this has been a strange day.
There's nothing more humbling and disheartening for someone really excited for their comm and happily talking about it and loving every step of the process but then they get the final image and go radio silent only to show up two weeks later, saying 'thanks', and then blocking you on everything.
Even more humbling and disheartening is since everyone changed their Discord names and stuff, they didn't recognize me in a certain server and told everybody it 'wasn't what they wanted'.
Like, it's one thing that my art never does well on social media, but for someone to blatantly lie about the artwork so now people think I'm someone hard to work with is...I dunno. I've had it happen maybe twice in the almost fourteen years of doing freelance and it's more confusing than upsetting. But the thing is, that shit is damaging to your reputation, even if the customer's in the wrong.
Just sitting here waiting for the inevitable chargeback that costs ME money just so that they get free art they 'didn't even like' out of it.

She reminds me of my mother who used to act awful and say horrible things to me but then call me a disrespectful brat when I tried to stand up for myself. That’s what she reminds me of when she acts the way she does and then calls everyone haters and bullies for their justified criticism.
