AAAAA absolute heart attack, I thought we were done in Agniratha and then by sheer random chance we stopped by the Fallen Arm and I realized that we never got the quest for the memory chip in Agniratha. Whoops! That would've been bad!
We're doing a little item collecting before everything goes to shit and this conversation happened:
Roommate: "Time to get more..."

Roommate: "Oh yeahh, I forgot! I just thought they made up a weird name for sci-fi."

Roommate: "Wait, so how do Reyn and Sharla work out if Gadolt's alive?"
Me: "Eehh..."
Roommate: "So he's not alive for long then?"
Egil: *expositing about the Bionis feeding on ether*

Aha! I've been waiting the whole game for it, but I think Alvis and Meyneth do "interact" at least once:

I was getting worried because I couldn't think of a single time in game that they interacted and I was beginning to think they didn't ever in canon. Which is like. it'd be crazy if they didn't. It'd be crazy if the game implied that Meyneth didn't know Alvis existed because they never interact in canon. Glad I was wrong about that one.
Roommate: "Why. Does Dickson. Know. EVERYTHING?!"
Me: "Well, you are about to find out"
Dickson saying "Let's see who makes it through the battle" goes from banter with Dunban on a first playthrough to Active Threat on repeats

Roommate: "If [Reyn] wasn't here you'd get yourself killed, Shulk"

Roommate: "I'm so concerned because this feels like the endgame but I know it's not because there's so much left I have to do!"
"I mean, this can't be the last time we fight Egil. It just can't. There's too much left unresolved for the game to end here, but I don't know how this battle is going to end!"
Oh whoops she lost against Egil the first time but she ended up doing something very interesting: when the energy devices spawned, she ended up targeting one of them with a chain attack while surrounded by other Mechon, which let them just walk right past them. I don't think I've seen that before in this battle!
My roommate has been raring to kill Egil since we first heard his name but she's still happy for Shulk that he decided not to. This game!!! It's so!!!
Roommate: "Arglas. He's not Zanza."
Me: "He's not Zanza."
Between Zanza appearing and the fight with Zanza, the only thing my roommate said was one single "what the fuck??" and an "interesting twist to have the life/light(?) guy be evil". Otherwise she was dead silent
Roommate: "Okay, before we continue, we're going to pause you and you're going to tell me everything that just happened."
*seeing the cloud of telethia in the distance*
Roommate: "Are those...the Alcamoth people?" *horrified gasp* "NO NO NO THEY'RE NOT NO--"
The thing that finally broke her and made her cry was me confirming for her that her favorite lesbians (Vidian and Lesunia) did get broken up and Lesunia is a Telethia
Roommate doesn't know what to think of Alvis and everything he's done since Zanza's awakening (fair) and I'm just over here almost giggling with glee because she has NO IDEA what kind of secrets he holds

I loved writing the surprise birthday party in this for many reasons. for one thing it felt natural after I wrote about wilbur throwing tommy a birthday party in nocturnal animals, and also I wrote honey and tangerines over the course of the summer. in a way that timeline of tangerines followed real time, because I wrote the wilbur surprise birthday party in mid to late september which is roughly around cc!wilbur's actual bday (yes yes I know he could be lying about his birthday but it's the one we all go with) so it just felt very fitting time-wise

I'm never going to publicly reveal my old ao3 (not really out of embarrassment but bc I don't want people I know from that account to find out I'm writing mcyt fic bc I will legitimately lose friends), but on that old ao3 when I was 16 I wrote a voltron chatfic. and it got somewhat popular. not super popular or anything, but it was my most popular fic up until I started writing for mcyt and it's how I really learned how to write humor. anyway the voltron fandom was the worst fandom experience I've ever had and I hated the ship the chatfic was centered on by the time I finished it bc the fandom was just so goddamn annoying about it. anyway yeah I can't write chatfic anymore it brings back war memories LMAO
I love cider man I love going to a bar and getting a nice cold cider if there isn't any beer I want. it's just so refreshing! and yes not all of it tastes like apples! I had a pineapple cider at a bar recently and it was so good
god I had so many emotions writing the card scene between crimeboys just waaaaa tangerines crimeboys i miss you
I'm so glad I write the music in my fics well, I try so hard to integrate it in a way that feels natural and doesn't pull the reader out of the scene
bittersweet symphony is a song that means a lot to me for many reasons so I usually have a rule to never include it in anything I write so it just stays as something for me, but it fit too perfectly for this fic for me to not throw in there and I'm so glad I did

- Mizooks and Rui get permission from Emu and her family to use the stage
- And they become a super cool clown duo fulfilling Rui's middle school dreams
- They're like Percival and Jackson the Cost and Ho-Host 😍😍😍😍 (inside joke lmao)
- Kohane stumbles upon the stage while hanging out in the theme park
- Saki also finds out while hanging out at the park, bcs she wants to do lots of cool things now thats she's out of the hospital
- They literally all have one of those rotation schedules on the wall or smth on who has to test Rui's inventions next 💀
- But I know for a fact the first time they had to Saki volunteered first and she like nearly died or smth
- And then they found out she was recently in the hospital and they're like "WHY TF DIDN'T YOU TELL US" "AAAAA I NEARLY KILLED SAKI"
-And she's like "I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE FUN!!!"

- A lot of their shows center more fairytale-like themes of magic and hope and whatever bcs I love fairytales and their designs just turned out that way

Adaman, Irida and Volo 1, 8, 14, 22, plus one wildcard for whichever question you want!
Oh hey!! Welcome to my blog, you're my first ask! Dunno if I'm supposed to choose one for each question or do all of them, so I'm doing the latter. This is gonna be pretty long, so buckle up lol
Why do you like or dislike this character?
I'm pretty neutral with Adaman, he's a character with solid design and personality, but I just wish there's more story to him. The only noteworthy story stuff I find about him is that he has a lot of siblings, which make for a fun dynamic, he's a bit unsure being a leader (altho that appears few and far between), and that's kind of it? He's kind of boring imo Adaman fans pls don't come @ me ;A;
Irida, on the other hand, I actually get attached to a lot more than I expected. She has the same solid design and personality as well, but I like that there's more focus on her personal conflict. Since she's young and a recent leader, the insecurity of being a leader is stronger on her side, not to mention the whole thing with Palina. You can actually see that she's growing as well over the course of the main story.
Lastly, Volo. He has a death grip on my soul Unsurprisingly my fave, mainly because of the angst potential he has and his way of thinking. Personally, I take one look on his idea of "The world is unjust so we need to start over" and thought 'oh, big mood'. (The same reason I got attached to Cyrus lmao) Unlike Cyrus tho, he's a lot more human and he acknowledges it, which is where I like to imagine how shit goes down with him, especially with his vague backstory.
8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?
When it comes to all of them? Just water down their personality by A LOT. One thing I saw in how ppl treat them in fanfics, especially with Volo, is either making him a terrible irredeemable monster with zero personality other than 'evil' and 'master manipulator' and making him the butt of the joke, or he's a soft fluffy UwU boy that instantly regrets what he's done and becomes good after the MC kisses him or something. Like I get that it happens in memes for the former and x reader indulgences for the latter, but cmon guys. Once or twice is fine, but I feel like it's so overdone. You can't just erase the canon like this. Volo is a compassionate guy. Volo knows well the weight of what he's doing / will do to the world. Those things can and do coexist.
I also have a really long tangent for Volo being compared to Kamado in terms of evilness and being hated / loved by the fandom, but that's for another post if you actually want to see it.
While I don't see much of their depiction in fics (because I'm not wading through 157 submas or x reader fics just to find a decent fic of them), I do also think that, like Volo, Adaman also suffers from his character and story shoved aside because ppl focus more on the fact he's hot, be it in fanarts or fics. I do occasionally see some interesting takes on his character that are explored further, but it's either a) a hidden gem, or b) overshadowed by the main plot of more popular fic focuses (again, submas AUs or x readers)
And for a main character, Irida is just really shoved aside in the fic department. You have to actively scour for stuff about her, although I don't actually do that so I don't really know how bad this gets.
14. Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character.
Why would you make me do this I am the worst at this aaaaa- (ded)
Adaman is not formal. At all. Assigning him a steampunk aesthetic because of the association with time is really cool, but expect him to be fussy about it. He is 100% casual, bonus points if the clothes are long sleeved and baggy or loose in any way. (Which is ironic since those are a nightmare to clean in boggy terrain. Whoops, sorry bud) In a way, his modern drip is actually really fitting.
Irida is definitely the opposite of Adaman. She NEEDS her clothes to be at least somewhat revealing, otherwise she won't survive the summer. I can also see her choosing light colored clothes instead of the black undershirt in her modern drip since it reflects light (and therefore heat) instead of absorbing it. Also jewelries. Nothing too excessive, just a bracelet or maybe some earrings to match her outfit.
Volo is definitely an ancient greek aesthetic, although he may be open to other things as well. Like Adaman, his clothes tend to lean on the more comfortable side, although he doesn't mind revealing clothes too much. His default is thick jackets or hoodies with fur linings (and the fandom also agrees since it's the consensus modern drip for him lmao) but I imagine him wearing more traditional celestica clothes in private since his heritage is near and dear to his heart.
Literally no polyester, rayon, nylon, or any synthetic fabric for these guys. They would die of rashes within 30 minutes. (Aside from Volo, but he's still dropping it after a while)
22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to this character? Something you don't like?
While I'm mainly a Volo x Reader fic main (yes I'm one of those ppl pls don't judge ("o_o)) I actually enjoy the fics that analyzes their characters and behavior more. Potentially also worldbuilding and relationship dynamic with some other character (that don't involve romance) is also really good and I keep coming back to them.
Some of my recommendations for Volo in Ao3 is teach me a kinder world (whatever you can bring) and a lot more Volo and Cogita stuff by absolutenadir. Another one is 成功を祈ります (English ver.) and while it's presented as an x reader, reader barely appears and there's zero romance scenes at all. After the story itself, there's a really detailed breakdown of Volo's character as the author has a philosophy masters degree (bless your soul Laurentine, hopefully you're doing well out there) and I think it's a good foundation for understanding and writing Volo as a character as well.
While I don't actively read Adaman and Irida focused fics, there is The Importances of History (Class) by annasofroma which is a series dedicated on worldbuilding and relationship building. While the main focus is on the Galaxy Team, I've read all of them and there's at least one fic in there where both are prominent figures and actually express a distinct way of thinking. There's also same earth; same air; same sky which explore their sibling-like dynamics.
But on that note, shoutout to jdphobe for making that and Apotheosis as well. Definitely the most invested I have ever been in a long fic. There's two other legends arceus fic of theirs as well that focuses on Volo but be sure to give them a read as well!!

hey i need to talk abt some camp camp shit bcause i have no one to vent to. (srsly if u see this and u wanna talk abt cc dm me i am lonely.) so yeah i want to take a good look at one episode in particular- episode 12 of season 4, the forest. (putting a ‘keep reading’ here bcause hoo boy is this shit long)
aight so first things first- how fucking long was david gone????? so we know he broke his leg, and pretty badly too.
look at that. bone fucking cronched. according to some base-level research i did, severe fractures can take BETWEEN THREE AND SIX MONTHS TO HEAL. even if we assume the horrific angle of the break is bcause its a cartoon, and it wasnt rly that bad, it would still take at least a month to heal.
another thing that points to how long he's been gone: where we see him when he's ready to go back to camp. look at this.
FUCKING LOOK AT THIS. this fucking twink has apparantly had enough time to not only partially heal from a severe fracture, but enough to also build all of this shit from the base up. i dont care how good he is at wilderness survival, that shit takes a fuck ton of time.
so yeah he basically spent a bare fucking minimum of two months away from camp.
im not gonna say we didnt get enough of a reaction from literally anyone tho. theres actually enough believable evidence to support the fact that theres a brief period of time we missed between when he returns to camp and when we see him back to his regular self. theres two main details that point towards this.
heres one of them-
he has an actual splint. its unclear whether he went to the hospital or not, but either way this proves that he's gotten at least somewhat professional help for his leg. maybe he saw a doctor, maybe gwen did it, i dont know, but for some reason i feel like he probably didnt do it himself. idk. anyway, theres something that took me a while to realise what was up with the reaction we got from the campers when we see david with them when he gets back.
the this is here is that no one reacts. like yeah niel and nerris look concerned, but thats about it. at first it might seem weird, but it actually makes more sense the longer you think about it. if theres a few days that we missed, its possible the campers would have been filled in on at least the basics of what happened to david.
so yeah theres that

ok im dying because i know this one survival fact and im so goddamn glad david knows this too BUT when he sees some berries, he keeps walking. why? NEVER EAT BERRIES OR PLANTS IN THE WILD UNLESS YOU'VE SEEN SOMETHING ELSE EAT IT FIRST. you never know what effect certain plants will have, or if they're poisonous or not. always make sure you know for a fact its safe before consuming something. my bitch was so hungry, but he didnt eat the fucking berries bcause he knew there was a chance they could be harmful and there were no other animals around that could have shown him whether or not they were.

21- With a new bed imminent, my mom offered to make me a new quilt. We spent a merry evening choosing very citrusy fabrics from her stash. 22- My friend got a kitty! Her name is Artemis! I immediately looked up all the grand epithets to the goddess to use as nicknames. Keladeinos means “strong-voiced,” which is extra ironic since she has a sweet, quiet meow. 23- With the bed being delivered in a few days, I was doing a lot of cleaning around my apartment, and kept getting caught in branching chores that felt very important but were not, and couldn’t be dealt with that day anyway. 24- Needed makeup for my halloween costume, because it’s been literal years since I bought anything new, and I certainly didn’t have anything very spooky-ooky. 25- The whole apartment, clean! Including.... spots the delivery guys never even went! Whoops. 26- The last day of pottery class found me frantically glazing my pieces right up till the last second, whoops whoops whoops 27- I broke my favorite, largest stein I use for tea, I’m still sad about it ;n; 28- My office digitally attended Adobe MAX, which had tons of tutorials and advice and product pitches. The halloween monsters I posted that month were drawn on my notes. 29- aaaa what we do in the shadows aaaaa!!! (Hemera’s dress is adapted from an example I found that had a pattern of birds... which I changed to medieval bats instead, hoo hoo) 30- Went to a halloween party as a vampire (of course!) with homemade pumpkin chocolate chip cookies in tow! I bought a cheapo cape for the costume and oh man, that thing swishing around me as I puttered around the house was amazinggg, I want a real cloak so baddd... 31- Sat with a friend handing out candy at their place, but they’re not really on the main trick-or-treating street, so we wound up walking around with the bowl encouraging kids to just take handfuls.

Aaaaa im not quite caught up with reviivebur ^^;
Buut for the new president of las ñavadas tho (Tbh the last lore stream i watched was Slimes introduction whoops xD)-
• He's got A LOT on his plate currently, so much so that sometimes he will have to sacrifice comfort over work- meaning he'll be working on plans or conversing deals all while nursing a very full bladder
• This man likes to have things over others heads, not the other way around. So, if he, godforbid, wet himself infront of anyone; he would try near anything to make that so miniscule in the others mind-
• With Slime guy tho, this sentient slime is trying to blend in with humans so, he has definitely openly asked Quack why he was dancing or moving like he was. And if they were alone Quack probably would off handly mention that humans need to pee and at times it's easier to hold it in the situation.
Which that explanation def backfires because if Slime see Quack squriming he's going to ask if he needs to pee, even if others are there- which probably gets Quack red in the face and try to back peddle😎
