I've been thinking a lot about DCU stuff and Ace Attorney thoughts got mixed in by accident, because it's got a lot of the same themed, colorful character designs and silly pun names. So, of course, I started immediately daydreaming about a DCU-style Superhero AU for Ace Attorney. (I often do not fully control what I think about.)

And then I was like, "I think I just finally have to play Ace Attorney at this point, before I get stuck in a weird daydream loop because I don't know enough about the plot to worldbuild properly. I will let this be the final push to just start these games."

Based on my extremely limited knowledge (I have only actually played 2 episodes of the first game), here are my Superhero AU thoughts so far. I don't like 1-1 character role match-ups in general when I fuse worlds, so none of these AA characters are fully aligned with any particular DCU character.

Phoenix Wright would make a good speedster, I think. This is partially because of the spiky hair, but also because there's a terrible irony to being the fastest man in the world who keeps being too late to stop certain tragedies. It also suits the way he's apparently never properly prepared for anything but also quickly manages to pull through. He's probably still a defense attorney in his civilian identity. (In accordance with later games, he has to stop being a superhero for several years when he's framed for a crime.)

Besides Phoenix's mentor Mia, who is also both a superhero and a lawyer, ordinary civilian Larry Butz is the only person who initially knows that Phoenix has superpowers. He honestly hasn't told anyone Phoenix's secret identity! But Larry also somehow gets into more scrapes and "damsel in distress" situations than Lois Lane and he's not even an investigative reporter.

Mia Fey, Maya Fey, and Pearl Fey have a Shazam situation, I think, in which they transform into a "Mystic Champion" magically empowered by the ghosts of their ancestors. Like a Shazam & Danny Phantom fusion. Mia Fey was the first in her family to become a publicly known superhero. A lot of people don't know that it's not the original Mystic Champion (same face and same superpowered form as Mia, which breaks Phoenix's heart a little every time) until Maya or Pearl transforms back into a regular girl after the fight is over.

I think Miles Edgeworth is a Batman type hero, but one still partially ensnared by Manfred von Karma, who is his Ra's al Ghul. (This makes Franziska into Talia, but there is definitely nothing romantic there.) Maybe he does have superpowers of some kind, maybe not, and he could still potentially be a prosecutor. He doesn't have a Brucie persona, though. Phoenix is not impressed by Edgeworth's harsh and even cruel approach to vigilante work. (Steel Samurai was Miles' Gray Ghost or Zorro hero inspiration, I'm guessing.)

Gumshoe is Miles' Commissioner Gordon figure and doesn't know his secret identity yet. He's either going to learn in the middle of a really bad situation or he's just going to straight-up figure it out himself one day and scare the hell out of Miles.

I'm still thinking about characters like Kristoph and Klavier Gavin, Apollo Justice, and Trucy Wright, but I don't know enough about them to fully flesh these thoughts out yet. I think the Gavins would make good Kryptonian equivalents (a cold and calculating Superman and a rockstar Supergirl), Apollo might make a good Wonder Girl equivalent (his bracelet becomes a Lasso of Truth) as the lost son of an Amazon, and Trucy would obviously be fun as a Zatanna type of hero.

AA Superhero AU: The Love Square

Now... I have to talk about it!

It’s the reason I started this AU in the first place.

WRIGHTWORTH/NARUMITSU LOVE SQUARE!!

So, imagine the secret identity shenanigans, the pining, the falling in love with two different people who are actually the same person. “Enemies to friends to lovers”, “one-sided attraction that’s actually mutual”, and “childhood friends to pining to lovers” AT THE SAME TIME!!

...okay, Wrightworth is already all of those at the same time, but hear me out!

Let’s start with a little graphic to explain the Love square (at the beginning), and then I will dive into each pairing in more detail, under the cut: 

Phoenix Wright/Red Signal (Rednix):

They are the Ladrien (wink) of this AU, the first canon ship. They met when they were kids. Red was going around town in his superhero outfit and he used his powers to save Phoenix from a car accident. After that, Red Signal tried to disappear, but Phoenix was so immediatly smitten that he followed him, and aggressively befriended him, basically. They started a weird friendship, meeting almost every day after school. Then the DL-6 happened (a post will come about it) and they lost contact.

Flash-forward to many years later. They meet again after Phoenix gets his powers and the death mark, because he always ends up in some kind of accident, and Red saves him again. 

Their first reaction is: MY FRIEND! YAY! (okay, not really, but they are happy to have met each other again). 

Their second reaction is: Oh... my crush is back. I guess I’m in love with him now.

Yes, they are crushing with each other pretty hard, and pretty fast. Phoenix based his entire life and career on Red Signal, and Red Signal came back to business after hearing about Phoenix Wright’s trial (Turnabout memories), and kept his old style to be recognizable, so, like... they never forgot each other, and they always wanted to meet again.

I don’t want to spoil too much, but every time they meet they are really cute, and it’s Red who Phoenix defends in Turnabout Goodbyes.

It’s also Red who fakes his su*cide, stopping his hero work for a while, and breaking Phoenix’s heart.

So... well... Phoenix is kinda angry at him when he comes back.

Phoenix Wright/Miles Edgeworth (Wrightworth): 

So, if the loving backstory was with Red Signal, how are things with Miles Edgeworth?

Well... they are not good, at first.

I mean... they did went to school together for a little while, but they never talked, so they met for the first time (kinda) when Edgeworth was prosecuting against Maya, so not the best first impression, especially since after prosecuting against Maya, he prosecute against Phoenix too. Terrible first impression!

And Miles is a mix between “Notice me sempai” and “Get out of my courtroom” because he’s in a total Gay crisis, so, yeah. AWFUL FIRST IMPRESSION!

Phoenix doesn’t like Miles, but they grow closer after the DL-6 retrial, when Phoenix ends up defending him as in canon (due to some facts I will discuss in the Turnabout goodbyes post).

Then Red goes away, and Phoenix is heartbroken. Edgeworth doesn’t disappear, though, and by working together, they start a nice friendship over time. 

Edgeworth is incredibly present and supportive during the Engarde case (Farewell, My Turnabout) and they become real important friends.

Phoenix’s feelings start to gravitate towards Edgeworth, just as Red’s feelings start to gravitate towards a new, incredible superhero.

Firebird/Red Signal (FireSignal): 

Firebird starts his vigilante career after Turnabout Samurai, so he doesn’t meet Red Signal many times before Red’s “death”, but when he meets him, he’s a big fanboy. 

And at first Red finds him annoying and extremely careless. Firebird is disappointed by his coldness, but tries to win him over, failing miserably.

When Red “dies”, Firebird is heartbroken, but still continues his superhero work. Since Red is not really dead, he keeps tabs on the afromentioned supehero work. He starts to get really interested in him, and admires him a lot. He’s everything Red Signal always admired in superheroes. So cool! When Red comes back, he tries to get in contact with Firebird and maybe... like... work together. Firebird is not interested anymore (he still has mixed feelings), but Red Signal still helps him sometimes, and they also get hired together to protect Ami Fey’s sacred urn (The Stolen Turnabout) and in this occasion they bond a lot. 

Red saves Firebird’s life when a crazy supervillain almost kills him after copying his powers (Recipe for Turnabout, yes this one changes a lot from canon), and he realizes how much he actually cares for him.

Both him and Firebird are really confused about their feelings.

Firebird/Miles Edgeworth (Fireworth): 

And, at last, here comes the Marichat (wink wink).

They met for the first time during State vs Skye (Rise from the ashes) when the courtroom gets attacked for some reason. Firebird tries to save Miles, who doesn’t want to be saved by a non-registered hero. Firebird is offended. Edgeworth is annoyed.

Their feelings change the way they change for the other ships, and sometimes they do meet, during court cases or when Firebird tries to save Edgeworth. 

But their biggest case together is the one when Maya is trapped, Misty is killed and Iris is accused of murder. They work together for most of the case, except the last day, and since they spend a lot of time together, they start to see some things about each other that they never noticed. Like a certain mark, and someone’s quick reflexes...

And here’s where the circle close. 

But I really don’t want to spoil Bridge to the Turnabout, which will get its own post one day.

This was just a qick dive into the relationship with each pairing big moments.

hi!! just wanted to come here and compliment you!!! i absolutely ADORE how ur writing style just paints such a vivid picture of like how the characters look, and the whole world itself!! and by that i do not mean what clothes they wear or what hairstyle they have- NO i mean how if ur stories were comics, what artstyle they would be drawn in, like kind of spiderverse, if they were to be transported into real life they would just. be drawn in a specific artstyle i have in my mind,, YKNOW!!!! i may sound crazy, but the point is. your writing makes my brain imagine things VERY VIVIDLY. also weirdly enough i dont really imagine a comic per say but more of a 3d animated movie where the characters are made to be seen 2d,,,,, AA i cant explain it but its just. His name is Roier, and he was bitten by an extraterrestrial spider while cleaning out his dad’s garage. Since then, he’s developed superpowers, and now he’s helping save the city from bad guys!

But here’s some actual facts:

He has two very rich parents (Foolish and Vegetta), but he’s trying to make it on his own. So he works at a taqueria near his university and he spends all his money very unwisely

He did gymnastics as a kid, and he is VERY thankful for it now that he’s Spider-Man

He’s been Spider-Man since he was thirteen. He’s twenty-two now. The day he stops is the day he dies

But also he takes pictures of Spider-Man as a side-hustle to pay for his college education (Peter Parkoier)

He and Jaiden are in a qpr, but they’ve kinda been struggling just a little recently now that she’s joined the FoH and he refuses to

He misses his son very much.

ohmygod i didnt realise anyone would ask this but im prefacing this by saying that the fic i have planned uses mostly the aa4 cast as its main team + a few side characs

as for everyone’s superpowers, i had them be

apollo - light manipulation + flight (would be described as the “power of the sun” in fic)

trucy - illusions + telepathy

athena - super shield (basically a latern in that she makes constructs that can either shield people or bash through them)

klavier - sound manipulation

ema - teleportation + telekinesis

and then the side characs would be

vera - also an illusionist (slightly weaker than trucy)

simon - shadow manipulation

maya and phoenix are also there but saying their powers would spoil the plot and ive already said too much ;))

Steve has been a vampire for 400 long and nasty years by the time they meet Tony Stark, the newest member of Wanda's inter-species superhero cooperation efforts. Tony Stark is a biomech, an ass with a great ass, and obsessed with an old piece of mid-American media called: The Twilight Saga.

If Steve never has to hear the word effervescent again in his unending immortal life, it will be too goddamned soon.

But Steve promised Wanda to help, and they'll follow through on it, even if it means spending their foreseeable undead days trying to beat Tony Stark's 'You Look Like You Sparkle in the Sun' allegations.

The team's code names on missions are as follows: Cap(Barok), Hare(Herlock), Mouse(Susato), Hawk(Ryunosuke), Red(Kazuma), Doc(Rei) and Falcon(Gina)

Sholmes's private Baker Street A.I. is called IRENE, based on The Woman Irene Adler of course. She was a witty nanny of his that lasted the longest, and he misses her a lot. IRENE only operates at Baker Street and instead communicates with a second A.I. The second A.I for missions in the Iron Man suit or anything involving Sholmes Industries is WILSON, who is named after John Wilson, Sholmes' mentor and the tech genius present during the super soldier project. He isn't quite as developed as IRENE. Both the real life counterparts have passed away.

When still living in London, Ryuu would sometimes get mugged on the way home. He fended them off with ease, but Sholmes still had a heart attack when he got home with several bruises. They designed him a special panic button system so they could be more prepared in the future. One push of the button means he got attacked, but he could handle the fight. Two pushes though, meant he needed Sholmes to get to him ASAP as he either couldn't handle the fight or was badly injured.

Ryuu can't sleep in a normal bed. It's too close to the ground for him and he always has flashbacks or nightmares. Herlock first discovered this when he caught Ryuu sleeping on top of a wardrobe instead of his own bed. They designed him a loft in his room that had easy access to the building's ventilation system to make him feel safer. It also inadvertently makes it easier for Ryuu to spy on people.

Ryuu ended up going to middle and high school, although he was certainly advanced on many subjects. Partnered with the fact that he had a world genius as a dad tutor, and he probably didn't need to go to school. He absolutely loved taking language classes though, and managed to push a few of his other classes out of his schedule so he could learn more languages. 

Karuma is a small katana-themed knife (or so everyone thinks) that was one of the only things left on Genshin's body. SHIELD assumes it's a family thing, because it's too dull to be used as a weapon. Kazuma keeps it in his room at Baker Street. (Sholmes couldn't help but think of old rumors, that during hours of need Genshin Asogi somehow wielded a mighty katana that appeared out of thin air and dissappeared just as quickly. But those rumors surely didn't have anything to do with this suspicious knife, did they?)

Kaz and Ryuu met when Kazuma hurt himself in a training room, and Ryuu was watching through the vents. Ryuu wrapped a red cloth around the wound and distracted Kazu with tongue twisters (that annoyed the man greatly since he couldn't repeat them) until they got to medical. Kazuma tried to return the cloth after he cleaned it, but Ryuu refused it, so Kazuma took the cloth everywhere as a sign of his gratitude.

Hey, did you notice that Klint almost instantly gains some memories back when he looks at the loves of his life? Hehe

Don't you just love making AUs of AUs? By that I mean an AU where everything goes even MORE right (I love fluff sue me) and Herlock, Genshin, and Yujin being shadowed by their Murdery Teenage Children. I can't get it out of my head. 

Sholmes getting insulted by some narcissistic politician and that politician gets politely OBLITERATED (with words) by a pissed off Ryunosuke. Kazuma's resting b*tch face terrifies everyone, meanwhile Genshin is like "why is everyone so cooperative in my investigations all of a sudden?" Yujin dealing with misogynistic council members and double checking with his daughter, who has killed several people before, about their ideas. Someone tries to attack any of the three adults and their kids go full on Attack Mode. Barok and Albert came up with the group name while talking about them. Albert wanted to know why Kazuma wasn't with his dad but couldn't ask where "Agent Asogi" was so he instead asked where was Genshin's "murdery… teenage child" was while Barok facepalmed with embarrassment. The kids think the name is really funny.

AA Superhero AU: Maya

I don’t want to monopolize the tag, I just have a lot of ideas for this AU.

So, here is Phoenix’s Profile

Now Maya: 

Unfortunately she doesn’t have a superhero outfit, so I gave her some casual clothes, and her work clothes.

Name: Maya Fey

Superhero name: Master of Kurain (she’s not a superhero, but this will be her official title in the future, and its the closest thing)

Superpowers: The same as in canon. I got pretty creative with the death powers of the Fey Family (I will make a post about the Feys in general, probably), but Maya and her mother have the same power as in canon: channelling a spirit in their body. It’s traditional in the Fey Family, and pretty strong, but she still can’t control it much, and sometimes the person gets the control of the body, something that it’s not supposed to happen, since Maya should always be in control, in some way (in this AU).

Type of power: Active-evident (can’t be used in court as evidence, though. Not after DL-6, but that’s another story)

More headcanons under the cut: 

Backstory: Her family is a really old and powerful family of superhumans, and almost all of their powers are related to death in some way. She was born in Kurain, a place with great traditions, and she was the daughter of the Master of Kurain. After the DL-6 incident, her mother disappeared as in canon, and Maya and her sister Mia were constantly mistreated by their aunt Morgan. 

When Mia became old enough, she went away from the village, not wanting to be part of the Fey clan anymore, and Maya followed her, still respecting her roots, but wanting to become her own person. She lives with Mia in a tiny apartment, and she works part time as a waitress in a superhero-themed café. She loves superheroes, especially the Steel Samurai (he’s real and a superhero in this AU).

Maya meets Phoenix way before canon, through Mia, and they become fast friends, almost siblings. She’s one of the few people that knows about his resurrection powers, and she will become his sidekick boss whe he’ll start as a superhero in the future.

Trivia: She has a lot of hobbies, but nothing sticks to her, except her love for superhero things. She will become the greatest fangirl of Water Whip (guess who?). But she bullies Firebird on a daily basis.

She has no intention of becoming Master of Kurain, because she doesn’t feel welcome there, and she’d rather be happy somewhere else. Still, she feels like she needs a sort of closure, and she’s conflicted about her role.

Once, she tried to summon Phoenix as a joke, and she accidentally killed him. They never talk about that.

Maya: I’m gonna create a superhero outfit that is so cheap!

Phoenix: Good, I’m broke

A wild fic tag game appeared!

Rules: List all your WIP titles, all meaning even the ones that are vague or nonsensical. Tag as many people as there are WIPs (that might be a lot, so we’ll see!)

I have quite a few WIPs, so let's see what I can wrangle. Some are actually posted because they're started, so I'll give links to those. The rest just get their titles.

I'll start with All American Barbecue, which was started during Bendis' AvX run. I was still a bigger X-Men fan back then than Avengers, and Captain America PISSED ME OFF something awful when he jackbooted his way to Utopia to demand that they turn over Hope so the Avengers could put her in a "containment center for her protection" from the Phoenix. Anyway, so this fic, which I do have started was an X-Men/Avengers/Wicker Man crossover in which Steve receives a letter from someone on Utopia stating that Hope has gone missing and they're terribly concerned about her safety. He shows up, goes through the whole Sgt. Howie nonsense of being rude af to the mutants only to wind up in a Wicker Phoenix at the end and set on fire (with Bendis inside with him). It was to be therapeutic given the stress AvX caused. I never finished it. Chris Evans started playing Cap, and I liked him, and eventually my fandom interests slid more toward Avengers because of the movies and I've since decided that AvX never happened. So I probably won't finish this unless I get tickled enough to one of these days.

The Break of the Day in the Trenches series currently just has the first fic in it, but the second is started. It's a Scott Summers/Steve Rogers fic that I started off writing for @scottcyclopssummers with a fic prompt from the Comfortember 2021 thing. The prompt was "make something together," so it takes place the day before Thanksgiving, and Emma decided that the Avengers and X-Men would work together to create a huge Thanksgiving feast for themselves and the students still at the school over the holiday. AvX never happened, so I didn't have to address those tensions, but Steve and Scott have still always butted heads over stuff, so they, as the two team leaders, have been assigned to work together to bake desserts for the meal. Things happen that lead to something more fun than fighting, and yeah, it's not just a single fic anymore.

The Every thing would appear to man as it is, infinite series is also just one fic into a Winteriron (Tony/Bucky) no powers AU set. Tony and Bucky meet in an AA group in Brooklyn. Bucky is a wounded vet, Tony is still a Genius Billionaire Playboy Philanthropist but neither of them are superheroes. I already know where I'm starting the second fic; I just haven't yet.

Hemispheres is my big Frostiron baby, and I've just started into Part 3 with Roll the Bones. It started with a prompt fic (Tony wakes up in an alternate reality and discovers that he's married to Loki). By the time I got to the end of the first one, Tony had fallen head over heels for the Trickster, only to wake up and find himself back in his own reality with a need to get Loki out of Asgardian prison. It vaguely follows the movies with a lot of changes.

Light a candle, light a motive is a series of prompt fics that have managed to weave themselves into a cohesive story. It's Frostiron, Stucky, Clint/Natasha, Bruce/Jane, Pepper/Maria and eventually will have Thor/Darcy (though probably not in a huge, they get their own major fics way - maybe?). It's post-Endgame and very canon not-compliant. Morgan Stark is still a part of it, but her mother isn't Pepper.

The Is this a dagger I see? series is two fics into a Winterfrost (Bucky/Loki) series. It's semi-MCU compliant with a lot of non-compliant twists and turns. Probably more non-compliant than anything. Obviously. The first fic starts with Bucky in the training room in the tower, throwing knives at a target. Loki is bored (oh no, a bored Trickster!) and asks to join him. Bucky has no problems with Loki, and he finds out that Thor's a super dick to his brother by keeping him in the tower unless Thor accompanies him (something that wasn't a part of the treaty with Asgard in regards to Loki being on Earth to help the Avengers). So Bucky takes Loki to Luna Park/Coney Island, and they don't come back until they've decided they like kissing each other a lot. The second fic is them coming back to Thor throwing a tantrum about Loki leaving the tower, and it ends with Bucky making Loki very happy and then threatening Loki's brother into behaving himself toward Loki. This also has Steve/Tony in it and Nat/Clint. Oh and it's also Bruce/Thor. There will be a part in the future - not sure when - that'll involve Bucky and Loki going on a road trip to try food in all 50 states.

Washed by the rivers, blest by suns of home is a Steve/Loki series, two fics in. The first started with a prompt from a Steve Rogers bingo that I never finished and eventually finished that fic at least, which has led into a series. It's another semi-compliant/not-compliant series. Aspects of the movies are mentioned. Loki's living in the tower, has to work with the Avengers, and in the first one, he accompanies Steve to Siberia to obtain Bucky's Winter Soldier records so that they can help him with whatever deprogramming/therapy he needs. The second fic also reveals Bucky/Tony are a couple. Thor is a dick in this one (but not nearly as much in the Bucky/Loki), but Steve is also willing to be a good boyfriend in that regard. This series also has Natasha/Sam and Clint/Bobbi Morse, but mentioned, not fully explored yet.

Wantons light of heart is a Scott Summers/Tony Stark (aka Mechanical Boy Band) series that started as a one-shot (haha) out of spite for @scottxlogan's stalker who claimed to hate Tony Stark. Needless to say, what started out as spite has turned into a big time love of this ship. Two fics in, the third is started, and it's going to prove extremely cathartic for me for reasons.

And white the fading forests grow, Yet what can I give him, give my heart, and Don’t you draw the queen of diamonds (She’ll beat you if she’s able) are a trilogy (so far) that just need a series name because they all go together (in that order, so far). The pairings are: Emma Frost/Loki/Tony Stark and Scott/Logan, and there is also mention of Bobby Drake/Christian Frost and Kitty (Kate) Pryde/Danni the tattoo artist (I don't know if that's the name of the tattoo artist that Kitty kissed in the comic - I don't think they named her, so I did).

Now is the Winter of Our Discontent Made Glorious is a gift fic I did for the FrostIron Holiday Exchange 2020. By all rights, it's a one-shot Frostiron college AU, but I've had inklings of ideas on ways to continue it, so chances are, at some point, it'll become a series.

Hey Jealousy is a one-shot, Frostiron adjacent fic in which Loki expresses jealousy during the Ragnarok capers when he finds out that Bruce is wearing Tony's extremely tight pants. I planned for this to be a one-shot, but there's a lot of interest in seeing how this could go on, and one day, I might continue it further. It would obviously be an Infinity War/Endgame non-compliant series.

Call My Name or Walk On By is a Scott/Logan one-shot that has had interest expressed in it becoming more than one-shot. It's comic non-compliant, after Logan's 'death' and Scott and Emma are running their own training center in Canada on the other side of the country from where Scott discovers Logan alive. This might not become a WIP, but it's got a good beginning of something that could go further.

Brownies is a Scott/Emma turned Scott/Kurt fic, which was going to turn into Scott/Emma/Kurt series. It started because of a Tumblr post that @scottxlogan made. Yeah, so Scott found some brownies on the counter left behind by one of the students going on a field trip with the rest of the students. But obviously, they weren't ordinary brownies.

Some ideas I have but haven't been started (and definitely haven't been finished) are: an Avengers/Flash Gordon (think 1980s version with Queen music, all bright and colorful) fic, a Loki and Emma are the leaders of the Hellfire Club fic, an unnamed Loki + Yelena + Peter Parker + Wade Wilson team-up fic that @scottxlogan is also dangerously responsible for planting the fic bunny in my brain, an unnamed TVA Loki/TVA Steve Rogers fic, a Steve/Emma series that I'm almost done with the first fic for, an unnamed 20s-30s X-Men/Avengers fic that'll have a lot of Boardwalk Empire and Gatsby elements to it, apparently an idea for a Kid Loki/Kurt Waggoner fic (Kurt is being taken care of by Howlett and Hercules and POC Scott Summers), an unstarted Tony Stark/Chris Knight (Real Genius crossover) fic that does have a title (Sun god robes on a pyramid).

That seems to be it - all I can dig up for now.
