As you could have noticed, my watching of Starkid musicals was a little unorganized. This has to come to an end, so I decided to watch all the rest of those musicals in chronological order. Which tells us that the post about “Black Friday” will appear in exactly twenty-four weeks, that’s just science. This time, I’ve watched “Me and My Dick”. Joe Walker plays genitals… Devil, help me through this, please, I’m not sure if I can survive so many jokes below the belt. I should establish one thing first: I’m going to use as little colloquial as possible, which means I’ll use the words “penis” and “vagina” instead of everything. I don’t know if I have to retell the plot, but let’s try. Joey, in high-school, has a crush on a popular girl. His sexual drive is a little over the top as it pretty often happens with teenagers (at least, media tell us so). There’s also an unpopular girl - Sally, who has a crush on the main character. (Spoilers!) Joey gets a chance to have sex with his crush, but his penis loves Sally’s vagina, so doesn’t work. Joey argues with his penis and the last runs away. Joey acquaintances with his heart, tries to propose to his crush, fails (of course), then Sally confesses her love to him, he also says that he loves her, but it everything goes wrong when the penis doesn’t come out (because he’s just not there). Sally's vagina with the help of Vagina Council finds Joey’s penis among the “free” penises and helps him to reunite with Joey. Joey and his penis confess love to Sally. Everybody’s happy. Well… On the one hand, some of the jokes were funny and, expectably, the whole thing is pretty sex-positive. On the other hand, there was some slut-shaming (if I misunderstood, you are welcome to prove me wrong), some jokes weren’t good at all and sometimes they did fight the idea that men always want to have sex and women never do and sometimes they didn’t, so I was confused. The thing that doesn’t apply to the musical itself, but to the recording the sound was very unregulated. There’s also one thing I don’t know how to feel about: a friend of the main character’s crush, who most clutching was aimed for, lost her vagina – she ran to Europe with her first penis, who was one of the “free” penises, but as I said, at the end everybody’s happy – she meets another “free” penis and unite with him. Well, some trans/intersex positivity never hinders, but it was weird. The whole experience was odd, but in general, was okay. P.S. I was going to compare the idea of the show with “Wiener vs. Brain” by the author of “Long Story Short” (you probably saw it, back in the day), but then found out that the first episode came out in 2014 when the musical was produced in 2009, which means Starkid was first. P.P.S. You should be grateful, that I didn’t mention my problems which I could have brought up in connection with the topic of that musical.
(Gifs contain genitals related imagery.)

I have fallen into the pit of Sherlock Holmes inspired characters where one is the brain and the other is the semi-clueless but also mostly normal one whose got a lot of heart and soul and is the viewer’s way of understanding what the hell is happening in the story.
Sherlock Holmes, Poirot, Jeeves and Wooster, and Raffles and Bunny, just to name a few. this character dynamic has me in a chokehold and I NEVER want it to let go.
The stories all work really well because we have that window into characters of such incredible levels of intellect that they NEED another person to make it understandable to the reader and the humanity in the partnership with the other person makes the other character feel more human. It’s a beautiful way to tell a story and I blame Conan Doyle for me entering this rabbit hole.
I’d like to add that this post from @jus-alilcomforblelad is incredibly accurate since I also started with BBC and discovered the other versions of Holmes and have come to truly understand the devices used to make the stories as compelling and interesting as they are. Which then caused my spiral into my current state (which I wouldn’t trade for the world).

Chapters: 5/8 Fandom: Raffles - E. W. Hornung, Raffles (TV 1977), 大逆転裁判 | Dai Gyakuten Saiban | The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles (Video Games) Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Bunny Manders/A. J. Raffles Characters: Bunny Manders, A. J. Raffles, Minor Characters, Gina Lestrade (Dai Gyakuten Saiban), Tobias Gregson (Dai Gyakuten Saiban), James Moriarty, Sebastian Moran, Barok van Zieks Additional Tags: Mission Fic, Post-Canon, During Canon, Fix-It, Major Character Undeath, Victorian Attitudes, Partners in Crime, Other Additional Tags to Be Added, POV Third Person, Screen Reader Safe, Crossdressing, anachronistic disdain for imperialism Summary:
After returning from the war, Bunny Manders' pseudonymous publications have made certain that the villain AJ Raffles was dead, in the mind of the public, giving the genuine article just the wiggle room needed for he and his companion to disappear from the eyes of the law.
But certainly they can't depart from their beloved London town without one last heist, as much for old times' sake, as for a cushion to aid them in establishing their new lives. And what better opportunity than the upcoming Great Exhibition? Certainly all manner of strange characters are likely to turn up there.
But most importantly, Bunny and Raffles, once more bound for hell or glory, arm in arm.
(Technically a crossover with Great Ace Attorney/Dai Gyakuten Saiban, but can be easily read blind for that fandom.)

Okay, so in case anyone couldn't make it to the livestream (and just because I wanted to), I wrote down some notes while watching it, so if anyone wants to read them, they're below the cut. (Also sorry ANI fans, my dad came in to borrow a pencil while the ANI segment was happening, so I missed a lot of it)
. There was a 4 minute long intro voice over before AVPM
. James watched AVPM
. 600,000 and Lauren plays the green screen piano
. 700,000 and Lauren does an architectural digest on the green screen house
. Jon really loves Ready To Go
. Darren keeps letting Joey know he sounds like shit on old recordings
. Pinball Pete’s burnt down 🙏🙏
. MAMD was the first student produced album to make the charts
. A Very Potter Sequel’s name came before A Very Potter Musical
. They accidentally wrote Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
. James gave Julia Albain leg splints
. During Starship the entire cast was breathing fibreglass
. Starship was called “knowingly amateurish”
. Darren was supposed to write 15 songs for Starship, but he got cast on GLEE
. Darren flew in to join a rehearsal as a surprise, ran in singing Beauty and everyone was so pissed
. Everyone still loves Kick It Up A Notch
. Nick: “Which was Holy Musical B@man-
Lauren: “Fuck yeah”
. They made up Sweet Tooth, and then found out he was an actual Batman villain
. Matt came up with “Calendar Man, your days are numbered” in his dream, and it was so good it forced him awake to instantly call Nick
. Everyone thought the flying machine joke was the best AVPM joke
. Goin' Back To Hogwarts Reprise made everyone cry
. AVPSY was five hours long
. Curt saw AVPSY
. Darren arrived 2 hours before the show and didn't get a chance to read through a lot of the script
. Darren came up with “I hope you find that swimming pool”
. Joey ate one banana on the day of AVPSY and during Sidekick went “I'm losing my vision”
. They had to pay the hotel union $11,000 to use THEIR OWN microphones, and Darren's STILL BROKE
. Jeff accidentally washed out his Aladdin hair dye
. A.J. Holmes had the same agent as Jafar's original VA, and they got him to do the intro and say “pee” and “poop” in Jafar's voice
. ANI was, as we know, expected to be a hit, and, as we know, it was not
. TTO was, as we know, expected to fail, and, as we know, did not
. TTO had a batshit cast party
. Pierce used to ask Matt insanely complicated questions before bed, e.g, “How did WWII happen?”
. Firebringer was a really old concept
. Literally no one questioned why the “I don't really wanna do the work today” clip had loads of people dressed as cavewomen + cavemen
. Firebringer was the first show Jon saw live
. They made up all the Hatchetfield shows at the same time
. Nick kept making sure Paul was having fun
. The song from the Pirate Show, “Born To Be Wretched goes so fucking hard. Like if a sea shanty was a musical theatre song essentially
. Mariah: “Rich gays, please give”
. Lauren choreographed Show Stoppin' Number
. People actually gave Lauren their phones when she asked in Inevitable, and they would take them backstage and take selfies before giving them back. One time it was locked and she shouted “WHAT'S THE PASSCODE?!?!?”
. Joey: “I'm in the middle of Wiggle”
. Everyone was ill during Black Friday
. Bryce saw Black Friday
. BRYCE GOT THE APPLE
. Nick told her “Interesting things happen here” when showing her to the seat
. Ahhh when Jeff played Tom…
. Angela was in Jaime’s improv class
. Angela is no longer on vocal rest
. Angela had to kill Sherman with a finger gun one night
. Will was 100% ready for NPMD
. Will was at a party they went to during A Very Starkid Reunion
. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR STARKID
. Rip Kim
. The Docks of Troutspear is sung by Matt’s favourite character (it also slaps)
. The Pit Stop in Hatchetfield livestream is going to be a tag team deathmatch
. I love Starkid so much

Idk if this is a weird ask and it might be in part due to my poor vision but I regularly do not recognize your icon as sherlock holmes. Because of the shading on his face I think it's a drawing of a chimp in a suit and I'm like "huh, kinda weird that froody wants to make his pfp a chimp in a nice suit but it's kinda funny I guess" and then I open your blog and see the larger version of the icon and I'm like "Oh yeah. Right. Sherlock Holmes."
It’s not Sherlock Holmes either.

Old or New "We love the prince"?
Oh the new version, no question. It's like 200% funnier.
-Brian Rosenthal singing "just keep him away from the nuclear button," in a very Peter Sellers Dr. Strangelove kinda way just lives in my head now.
-Joey Richter singing "I heard he once made a human centipede" that's just... I can't. That's the funniest shit in the world to me.
-Lauren Lopez singing "I also fucking despise him,"
-Mary Kate Wiles singing "with the emotional depth of a baby," every joke in the new version lands so well
The old one was alright but the jokes definitely don't age well. The new one is one of my favorite numbers from 54 Below. A.J. Holmes as Vanger Borschtit was just fucking inspired casting

Romance Roundup: Part 2
the full list:
loved | liked | okay | didn't like
●Captive Prince Trilogy by C.S. Pacat     ○Captive Prince     ○Prince's Gambit     ○Kings Rising     ○The Summer Palace  ●Whyborne and Griffin Series by Jordan L. Hawk (there are like 11 of these in total, but this is as far as i got. this is not the only reason i stopped, but this series does contain a sex scene wherein sliding back the foreskin is described as "peeling". and i just. i simply don't think you should peel a dick. i don't think it's good for them.)     ○Widdershins     ○Eidolon     ○Threshold  ●Sweet Disorder by Rose Lerner  ●Sailor's Delight by Rose Lerner  ●Something Human by A.J. Demas  ●Doomsday Books by KJ Charles     ○The Secret Lives of Country Gentlemen     ○A Nobleman's Guide to Seducing a Scoundrel
●Old Bridge Inn Series by Annick Trent     ○Beck and Call     ○The Oak and the Ash  ●10 Things That Never Happened by Alexis Hall  ●Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall (okay, listen, the first chapter hits you with a high concentration of cringe, and is therefore difficult to read. but the cringe concentration lessens considerably as you go along, and this ended up being one of my faves.)  ●Husband Material by Alexis Hall (again with the cringe, but it's not a strong enough book otherwise to make up for it, imo. the first book stands up great without having to bother with the sequel)  ●The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever by Julia Quinn  ●Bridgerton Series by Julia Quinn     ○The Duke and I     ○The Viscount Who Loved Me (there are six more of these, but i simply couldn't go on)
●The Mystery of Nevermore by C.S. Poe  ●Turner Series by Cat Sebastian     ○The Soldier's Scoundrel     ○The Lawrence Browne Affair     ○The Ruin of a Rake     ○A Little Light Mischief  ●The Last Binding by Freya Marske (these are kissing books, but i didn't like the actual romances so much as the. like. plot.)     ○A Marvellous Light     ○A Restless Truth     ○A Power Unbound  ●Lucky Lovers of London by Jess Everlee     ○The Gentleman's Book of Vices     ○A Rulebook for Restless Rogues  ●A Taste of Gold and Iron by Alexandra Rowland  ●His Heart's Obsession by Alex Beecroft  ●Seducing the Sedgwicks by Cat Sebastian     ○It Takes Two to Tumble     ○A Gentleman Never Keeps Score     ○Two Rogues Make a Right  ●Hard Sell by Hudson Lin  ●Green Men World by KJ Charles     ○The Secret Casebook of Simon Feximal (can be read as a stand-alone. is also not really a romance, per-se, although they sure do fuck. more like if shelock holmes had been a ghost-hunter, and watson had told us about all the sex they were having)     ○Spectred Isle (n.b. this was meant to be the first book in a series that is on hold indefinitely, though i enjoyed it plenty on its own)
●Winterbourne series by Joanna Chambers (there's one more novella in this series but none of my libraries has it)     ○Introducing Mr. Winterbourne     ○Mr. Winterbourne's Christmas     ○The First Snow of Winter  ●The Vicar and the Rake by Annabelle Greene  ●The Gentleman and the Spy by Neil S. Plakcy  ●The Lord and the Frenchman by Neil S. Plakcy  ●Unfit to Print by KJ Charles  ●Brook Street by Ava March  ●Enlightenment Trilogy by Joanna Chambers     ○Provoked     ○Beguiled     ○Enlightened     ○The Bequest (epilogue novella)  ●Unnatural by Joanna Chambers  ●Restored by Joanna Chambers  ●Society of Gentlemen by KJ Charles (another one where the whole series is worthwhile for the story, even if i didn't love all of the romances. the characters are endearing and there's an excellent little series epilogue availble on the author's website)     ○The Ruin of Gabriel Ashleigh (prequel novella)     ○A Fashionable Indulgence     ○A Seditious Affair     ○A Gentleman's Position
●Something Fabulous by Alexis Hall  ●Hither, Page by Cat Sebastian  ●The Missing Page by Cat Sebastian  ●Sins of the Cities by KJ Charles     ○An Unseen Attraction     ○An Unnatural Vice     ○An Unsuitable Heir  ●Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston  ●Bright Falls series by Ashley Herring Blake (I'm still on a waitlist for the third book, which just came out)     ○Delilah Green Doesn't Care     ○Astrid Parker Doesn't Fail  ●Fake it 'til You Make Out by Isla Olsen  ●The Lady's Guide to Celestial Mechanics by Olivia Waite  ●The Care and Feeding of Waspish Widows by Olivia Waite  ●The Lilywhite Boys by KJ Charles     ○The Rat-Catcher's Daugher (prequel novella)     ○Any Old Diamonds     ○Guilded Cage     ○Masters in this Hall (sequel novella)  ●England World by KJ Charles     ○Proper English     ○Think of England  ●Will Darling Adventures by KJ Charles     ○Slippery Creatures     ○The Sugared Game     ○Subtle Blood
●The Lady's Secret by Joanna Chambers  ●A Charm of Magpies series by KJ Charles     ○The Magpie Lord     ○A Case of Possession     ○Flight of Magpies  ●Other KJ Charles book linked to the Magpies world     ○A Queer Trade     ○Rag and Bone     ○Jackdaw  ●Wanted, A Gentleman by KJ Charles  ●The Gentle Art of Fortune Hunting by KJ Charles  ●A Thief in the Night by KJ Charles (novella linked to Gentle Art)  ●Band Sinister by KJ Charles  ●Unmasked by the Marquess by Cat Sebastian  ●A Duke in Disguise by Cat Sebastian

I am aware that Arsène Lupin is pretty much a gentleman from the +1910s France, and that A.J. Raffles died before that time, but I am also of the opinion that they would've loved to meet each other. Not in a "they're best friends" sort of way, but rather in a "i fucking hate when you get on my way but you look so cool while doing it i will shoot your face" sort of way. Raffles wants Lupin to stop talking as if everything was a joke, Lupin wants Raffles to stop making Bunny so anxious if it's unecessary and makes plans go wrong, and Bunny is on his 5th cup of cheap beer trying to keep it together. The three of them take temporary truces to complain about Sherlock Holmes
