Bracket F Round 1
Poll 30
Vix (@awakeindeath) vs. Ophelia Rowan (@apolemiasiphonophore)
379. Vix (@awakeindeath)
She/her
They may be relatively new to my mind,  but they are a resilient thief in a sci fantasy adventure story I'm publishing over in Kindle vella (the Dark Heart by j peterson). She's smart,  funny,  and definitely in over her head with space pirates and robot gangsters around every corner.
She may also be dating her new gnoll gf and hasn't really come to terms with a relationship based on adrenaline yet.
She's short, with blue hair and bright eyes.  She dresses in old clothes,  all that she could afford.  Everything on her is old and worn, except her blaster,  which everyone thinks is too big for her.  She disagrees, of course.  She's thin from growing up on the streets, strong from climbing into buildings she doesn't belong in,  and moves in darting motions like a mouse.
380. Ophelia Rowan (@apolemiasiphonophore)
he/she
i'm not good at trying to talk about my characters like this so i've mostly written her backstory, which got kinda long. whoops!! here's some quick points of interest though, if you don't wanna read all that:
-HUBRIS -he's an astronaut! -experiences....ominous visions.... -most of his writing takes place when he's 31 and older -gay divorced. maybe not legally, but emotionally. who likes divorce here raise your hand please -where's your rage??? where's your fucking rage???? -SEINFELD CHARACTER I MOST ASSOCIATE WITH HIM: george costanza. they are actually very very different in personality, but often i find when i see lines from him posted out of context on tumblr, it becomes very easy to insert ophelia. sorry. -TMA FEAR IDEAS FOR HIM, IF YOU'RE INTO THAT SORT OF THING: the stranger? the spiral?? the vast??? there's lots of options! you could probably even argue the hunt at a certain point, if you want! -i like him :)
ophelia has a LOT to prove, especially to herself. her story begins in the distant, futuristic year of 1994. ophelia was left alone for over a year on a failing space station orbiting a dying star, fighting for her life to live to see a rescue party. she saved the lives of her crewmates, who had all entered cryosleep to conserve resources--but ophelia herself didn't technically survive. the rescue party found her dead near the destroyed life support system.
but after freezing her and taking her back to earth, ophelia is revived! yippeee!!! when she's asked about the life support system, all she remembers is having a near-death hallucination about the sun speaking to her, telling her they can both make it out of this alive. weird... :/ oh well that probably doesn't mean anything it's fine. life is far from simple for her back on earth, though. she discovers she's become a sort of celebrity--when the news broke that a rescue party was needed, all eyes on earth turned to her plight.
now that she's recovering on earth, ophelia has to face the strange perceptions that developed of her. her traumatic experience has been turned into a point of debate about space travel, conspiracies about the company she works for, picking apart the "political" aspects of who she is over what she's accomplished--even a movie for entertainment purposes, with a shocking, tragic ending depicting her death. ophelia doesn't like these perceptions of her, not one bit. who is this ultra-feminine woman, sobbing over the cryosleep pod of some random man they made up for movie plot purposes? is this supposed to make her more relatable, easier to SELL as an image? what's this fascination with seeing her weakened, traumatized, and desperate for human contact??
ten years fly by as ophelia reconnects to life on earth. her image has largely been forgotten and discarded; sometimes, she might talk about safety at space camps for kids or at space tech companies, but usually, she's left to her own devices. that is, until she's approached by celebrity billionaire preston young, ceo of a tech company with a shaky reputation. she has no respect for him and might ordinarily walk away, but her interest is piqued when he tells her he can offer her EXACTLY what she's wanted all these years: a second chance to prove herself. legality be damned, she can go on a real, genuine solo mission into space--but at what cost? what does preston want to accomplish, and how much will ophelia let slide for her own interests? well you can't find out because i'm not done writing yet. i hope you like her though! :)
ophelia is a white...woman-ish...person, and is relatively short and fat. under ideal circumstances, he'll normally be pretty muscular, too, and prefers to keep his hair very short--sometimes he buzzes it all off completely, but other times, he'll grow it out just a tad and shave one side. his hair is a relatively light brown with a wavy texture. he can grow a very light and patchy amount of facial hair, too, and very easily forgets to shave.

Glamorous Mishaps
Based on this post. I thought it be best to put my examples about Optimus Prime's mishap with glamour here since they're more story oriented. There will be three involving OCs of mine as I got other ideas for Self Insert. Now let's get started!
Transformers Prime: Oil and Sugar
Optimus Prime was a being of habit. It is quite rare to see him leave the base, much less rest. His current outing was one of those unique times as curiosity led the Autobot to explore Jasper. Optimus didn't mean to bump into the strange woman and knock the pastries from her arms. Nor find out why she smells like a rabbit.
Tumblr media
First example is my rabbit yaoguai Tikki Cho, owner of the therapeutic Sweet Healing Bakery. A kindhearted motherly woman who prefers not to fight and settle issues peacefully. It doesn't mean Tikki will let people walk over her as the rabbit can suplex someone like Optimus in seconds.
She had recently settled into Jasper to open her bakery when our dear Prime enters the scene. Optimus decides to help Tikki set up shop mainly as an apology for his less than stellar greeting. The two become great friends with the Autobot Leader visiting in holoform whenever he can.
It's all fine and dandy until Megatron returns. A Vehicon attack forces Optimus Prime to reveal his true nature and take Tikki to base. Funnily enough, no one expected the human woman to become a big fluffy rabbit!
Optimus Prime: You aren't human?
Tikki Cho: I guess both of us had a secret, dear.
Here's what to expect!
Therapy for everyone! You can bet your ass Tikki is gonna get both bots and humans to healthily process trauma. If she happens to give sessions to some Decepticons, they consented.
Cybertronians underestimate the rabbit baker. It's all fun and games until the bunny kicks your bearings with boulder shattering strength. Or throw your metallic ass into a mountain as if a purse.
Bumbling mess Optimus Prime. Man clearly doesn't get enough positive affection and he has no idea how to properly react. He tends to blue screen as one hug from Tikki solidifies how touch starved he really is.
Sacred paperweight and eldritch Satan are afraid of a bakery owner. Breakdown quits cause "bunnies are better and fuck everyone except Knockdown". Deception Leader has misinterpreted jealousy fueled hate against Optimus' ward.
Transformers Animated: Don't Stop The Beat
It's very rare to find a shop in Detroit's mechanical central not run by a robot. Yet Koro Beats proudly stands booming with prosperous music selections. Although the shop owner would never expect her secret to become uncovered by a humble 'dropout'.
Tumblr media
Here's our second OC guest, Kororo. A feisty and extremely blunt Deku Scrub who dislikes Hylia for taking away her god son Link. She left her world to set up shop in the TFAverse years before the events of the show began.
Kororo used to babysit Sari for Isaac and only the young girl knows about her true form. An involvement that leads to the Deku Scrub becoming entangled in the Autobots' lives during the search for Sari. She would honestly say it was like someone dumped three extra kids, an inexperienced young adult and a grumpy grandpa on her.
Kororo becomes Optimus' emotional support as it's clear he needs a friend around his age. Things turn out fine until Black Arachnia accidentally wreaks havoc with the All Spark. Kororo drops her human mask before Optimus and helps him save Sari.
Optimus Prime: Kororo, you're a small...tree person?
Kororo: Finally! Someone who doesn't mistake me for a dummy!
What to expect:
Autobots have a one Deku Scrub pep squad ready to throw hands. Sentinel Prime and Ultra Magnus are intimidated by this small tree woman as magic bubbles fired like bullets HURT. No one berates Optimus Prime with Kororo around.
Sari tries to parent trap music store owner with a giant robot. Both are so damn confused about the constant weird shenanigans happening. Ratchet puts a stop to it because one trap left him in an ugly yellow paint job.
"How To Accidentally Adopt Decepticons by a still confused Deku Scrub." Being nice to one Con having a bad day becomes a domino effect. Megatron and Starscream are so bewildered about the sudden decrease in numbers.
When your missing god son shows up at the door with your lost mask trapped deity friend. Link wonders how he suddenly got adopted into a family like this but doesn't mind. Optimus Prime somehow becomes a ward to a forgotten war god. More at 11.
Transformers Knightverse: Steel Magnolias
A shrine surrounded by roses. Optimus had been plague by the visage despite never encountering such a place. As he searches for clues about his scout's on this strange planet, Prime would stumble across a mysterious entity living secretly amongst the unaware humans.
Tumblr media
The final OC for this glamour based mishaps, Rose Elysium or Rosa for short. An wandering emissary of chaos who travels dimensions searching for wonders. She only aids those that proves themselves worthy or gather her curiosity.
Optimus Prime stumbles across Rosa by sheer accident as he searches for Bumblebee. He constantly encounters the mysterious woman who helps him bit by bit whether it be his search or a companion to talk to. Only when the Autobot leader ends up in the wrong place at the wrong time does Rosa shed her mortal disguise to help him.
Optimus Prime: Are you an angel from human mythology?
Rosa: I may angelic but I am far from a simple angel.
What To Expect:
Million year old war veteran is claimed by an ancient eldritch entity. Those that earn Rosa's friendship or interest become her wards. No one should dare touch the claim of the divine as a fate worse than death awaits them.
Optimus Prime becomes accustom to seeing roses on a daily basis. A bed of flowers is more comfortable than the cold hard floor. Even a Prime needs his beauty sleep and Rosa is happy to provide it.
Optimus' helm is a perch for chaos emissaries and susceptible to hugs. Rosa is nice enough to cover his optics or audials when someone's about to do something stupid. He can finally be childish for once without breaking his 'Prime air'.
Tired dad of three kids now has a caretaker to help manage them. Mirage definitely started calling Rosa 'mom' and it quickly spreads. He also tries to ship her with Optimus like the gremlin he is. Bumblebee helps much to bossbot's future horror as they will enact the Parent Trap scheme. (Side story.)
And that's it! I thought about just doing only Transformers Prime for all three but decided not to since every iteration deserves love. As for ships, those will stay in side stories mainly because some readers rather read fics without romance being in the way.
Until next time folks, I'll see you later! Transform and Roll Out!

Fish Riches: Deep Cut finds a ton of gold guarded by Salmonids and trick them into spending it.
Calming the Storm (Season Finale): Everyone's preparing for an unexpected hurricane but the Squid Sisters, Off the Hook, and Deep Cut make soft, peaceful music with the storm to guide them in sound.

What if Frisk fell at night? When everyone's asleep? I haven't seen anyone make any kind of storyline about this, and I want to see this because THERE IS SO MUCH POTENTIAL FOR COMEDY HERE! Here's my take:
This alternative timeline follows Frisk (who wears a cute panda onesie, complete with feeties!) who strayed away from their camping trip to climb a forbidden mountain... And then they tumbled into a flowerbed in the Underground. This is primarily a Pacifist timeline, mainly because I'm not sure how one would do a Genocide when most of the Underground is sleeping (also because I want to keep this a silly and light-hearted story).
Along the way, there are some random encounters, but that's only because Frisk woke them up. You'd have to lull them back to sleep in order to continue. Or beat them until they go unconscious. One of the two.
All the main characters will be encountered as normal, and all the bosses will remain the same. They would act a bit differently, though. Here's my take:
Toriel - Remains asleep at her house until Frisk breaks in to look for the exit. When she wakes up, she literally adopts Frisk on the spot. Frisk is forced to stay there and battle her to get past. She's an instant waker (with some help from her coffee), but her attacks are less coordinated and thus more dangerous. Until the second half, when the coffee kicks in and her attacks get easier. You would have to keep sparing her until she lets you leave, as usual. Afterwards, she tries to go back to sleep. She believes Frisk is just a wishful vivid dream.
Sans - He's asleep for most of the game, but the catch? He's a sleepwalker. He looks half-asleep the whole time, and he does and says inane things that any sleepwalker would do from what I heard. It's difficult to keep track of him because he's all over the place. Flowey wakes him up near the end so he can actually talk to Frisk, but he's super confused once he's woken up. He does end up liking Frisk, though.
Papyrus - Probably the most awake out of the main characters. He doesn't change at all. He doesn't even wear his pyjamas! He's out and about both to work and to keep an eye on his sleepwalking brother. But even he can't always keep an eye on Sans, so he asks Frisk to do it. He and Frisk end up friends no matter what you do.
Undyne - Poor Undyne. Oooohhh, poor Undyne. She WAS asleep until someone alerted her to the human, but she's tired and half-awake the whole time. Not to mention a bit delirious. Her attacks are slow, but sort of wild. They don't do as much damage because she's still sleepy. Later, when the Alphys 'date' happens, she's woken up AGAIN by a phone call from Alphys. They end up together the next day. Her constant confusion has a lot of potential for COMEDY! Don't you agree?
Alphys - A bit of an insomniac, she's spending her night binging Mew Mew Kissy Cutie: The Series. Until Frisk comes and she decides to help them out instead. She's pretty much the same, except she's running on coffee and anxious existential thoughts. The most awake besides Papyrus. You can even take her out on a late date if you're determined enough.
Mettaton - The poor thing is pulling an all-nighter just to entertain the insomniacs of the Underground! He's very low on battery and desperately needs to recharge. So now we have a grouchy, snappy robot trying to keep it together just to entertain Alphys' silly ideas and the human child. He only becomes a boss because he's got to perform! In order to get past him, you need to drain his battery.
Asgore - You know that board game 'Don't Wake Daddy"? Well, New Home is sort of like that. You need to stay quiet in Asgore's house while getting the keys so you don't wake him. And since you need a monster soul in order to leave, Frisk has to decide between letting him sleep and staying in the Underground, or killing him in his sleep to escape. Either option will end up with him waking up. Once he does wake up, he has a nice cup of tea with you, which gives Toriel enough time to catch up to you.
Flowey - The first creature Frisk wakes up accidentally. He's wearing a tiny sleep hat (a gift from Papyrus)! He is initially cranky and groggy at first, but then he decides to follow you and do his thing.
Since most of the monsters will be asleep at their house, a Genocide Route is not possible. However, there are new monsters, such as a new Royal Guard that is just as adorable and silly on their night shift. The worst ending you can get is a bad Neutral ending. Which... Is still bad, especially seeing that this would all happen overnight.
EDIT: I actually wrote this out months ago, but I didn't finish it until now because I lost interest in the idea. I might make a story on these ideas... Eventually.

I know you didn't ask but I feel like you need to know more about Vriska
So she lives on this planet where only the young trolls live, so everyone is less than 18 human years and she is not older than 13 when the game begins (they count age in another way though but that's unimportant)
So before the game begins and she's a little kid she is playing a roleplaying game that allows her to murder a whole bunch of kids with the help of her beest friend who she's manipulating into thinking they're "just killing the bad guys". These children are what she feeds to Spider Mom, a ginormous spider who took care of her since she was a grub. (Troll babies are basically larvae)
This gets her in a conflict where she mind controls one of her "friends" who she relentlessly bullies into jumping off a cliff so he is paralyzed and she doesn't even feed him to the spider just keeps bullying him for being disabled and weak.
This gets her into a conflict with her victim's friend who sends ghosts to haunt her so Vriska mind controls that girl's boyfriend into showing up outside her house and killing her so she turns into a ghost and her boyfriend is traumatized.
This gets her into a conflict with her best friend who gets an omniscient child predator to blow up Vriska's arm but that makes Vriska mad so she mindcontrols the disabled kid to mind control her ex-bestie's parental dragon into mind controlling her to sleep walk out into the very dangerous sunlight which might've been meant to kill her but instead it just blinds her and she has to rely on her sense of smell to do everything now.
While she's still constantly abusing the disabled kid she also has a weird crush on him and kisses him right in front of the girl who has a crush on her which throws her into this weird passive aggressive conflict.
Later she has the life beaten out of her by the ghost girl turned robot this is an entire side plot but she survives by I think she was mind controlling the disabled kid or something to take her to her quest bed so she's basically immortal now except for if her death would be heroic or just.
She continues being a bitch and gets into a rivalry with her ex-bestie using these two human guys to train them and see who can make the best 'hero' out of them
Her bestie has to kill her because she gets so much hubris she tries to go fight one of the main evil guys on her own which would kill everyone.
Later when she's dead she manipulates her ancestor/descendant from another universe into becoming "friends" and enslaving a massive horde of ghosts of their dead friends from different universes through mindcontrol to kill the main bad guy because she's obsessed with inserting herself as the hero even though it might lead to everyone's death
The story gets retconned and she survives and I think trapped one of the other characters in a fridge for almost the rest of the story ? Don't remember exactly what happens after this point
Gotta love her, though. Sometimes she does good things too ?
i don't actually know what to do with this information but thank you

I really love your Security Breach Zombie Apocalypse AU
I wanna see your headcanons and scenarios also involving survivors
Well, I have a few ideas.
The Daycare Attendant has repurposed themselves into teaching kids basic survival skills, in case the worst happens. Their daycare area has been refitted into more of an exercise yard, though they still keep their old toys on hand. Kids still need playmates, after all, and they're happy to provide.
Freddy still kept the zombified Gregory hidden in his chest cavity for a long time until his friends talked him out of his funk. He's still sensitive about letting anyone in there and the other Glamrocks hypothesize that his chest cavity had something to do with how Gregory got infected. The only thing I'll confirm is that a certain bunny was involved...
One time Chica accidentally traumatized a bunch of kids when she had to eat a zombie in front of them. Long story.
Freddy having to cope with Gregory's death has made him the best at comforting the shell shocked survivors. The animatronics are entertainers, not therapists, so they're really not equipped to handle severe mental trauma. Freddy, at least, can relate to those who lost their families and loved one in the initial outbreak, so, if nothing else, he can be there to tell people "you are not alone". Thankfully, some of the adult survivors are therapists, so he doesn't have to carry the burden of everyone's trauma.
Monty was always jealous of Freddy and Bonnie's popularity... until they day he met his biggest fan. Monty had the misfortune of finding a bitten child wearing his merchandise trapped in a locked car while on a supply run. The kid expected Monty to make it all better because "you're so strong and cool! Stronger than Freddy and Bonnie and all of them! You're the best! ...Right?" All Monty could do was reassure the kid that everything would be alright as he passed on. Freddy was the first to realize that Monty was carrying a zombie kid around in his chest cavity. The two later become friends in this timeline.
Stepping away from the angst, Chica is the resident cook. After a few disastrous first attempts that resulted in her trying to serve up literal cooked garbage, some of the survivors sat her down and taught her what is and isn't safe for human consumption. Her friends note that she's more passionate about food now than ever before now that she knows how to cook.
The main reason the Daycare Attendant is the one tasked with teaching young kids survival skills? The animatronics are programmed not to be able to handle guns. The sole exceptions being the STAFF robots... and Sundrop. It was just a programming oversight in his case, STAFF are allowed to use them thanks to being security guards but someone just forgot to add the right code to the Daycare Attendant. As such, they're the only animatronic that can actually teach kids how to safely handle a rifle in case the worst happens. ....Once the adult survivors teach Sundrop how to handle a gun that is. That is not a job the others envy having to do.
Speaking of the Daycare Attendant, they're not allowed to go out and look for supplies like the rest of the animatronics. Sundrop and Moondrop are so unintentionally terrifying that most wandering survivors tend to shoot them on sight, assuming them to be a monster or zombie. So, they're stuck in the daycare looking after the kids. At least the bullet holes give Sundrop new stories to tell.
The animatronics take shifts doing various important tasks. One of them will go out to look for supplies and survivors while the rest manage the essentials, such as cooking, training, and so on. They have STAFF bots, yes, but those are comparatively cheap and tend to break down, so the animatronics do have to do a majority of the work while they're in maintenance.

I've seen that you've talked about the fan headcanon that Penny has a body made out of aura now (which doesn't make sense from what we know about souls or her clothes). However, have you seen the explanation where the Staff simply has a massive loophole where it can be forced to make something auxiliary to the wish to prevent causal destruction, which is permanent? This one seems to have way more issues to me, like how exploitable it would be and that it makes Ozpin into a colossal idiot again.
That’s the most recent explanation I’ve seen and yeah, I think out of all of them it makes the most sense. So basically Ambrosius is not allowed to destroy things. Period. (Never mind the likely destruction as a result of wishes disappearing  — like Atlas falling  — I guess the magic doesn’t care about that.) Thus, Ruby tells him to remove all the robot portions of Penny, including the virus, but specifically doesn’t ask Ambrosius to do anything else. She does not ask for a new body for Penny. Ruby just tells him to remove the tech, leaving only Penny’s soul behind, and because the soul would die without a body (I guess) Ambrosius was forced to create a body for Penny in order to ensure she survived. He had to abided by his rule of no destruction, therefore giving Ruby more than she’d wished for and precisely what she’d wanted. That creation, Penny’s body, then doesn’t disappear when they create the portals because Ruby never wished for it. The body was merely a byproduct of Ambrosius following his own rules.
So that seemingly checks out. The “brilliant” loophole was still entirely dependent on a bunch of rules we only found out about while Ruby was exploiting them  — from a writing standpoint it’s really not impressive when they’re delivered hand-in-hand like that  — and I think it was horribly explained  — there’s a reason why everyone is trying to figure this out/jumping to other explanations  — but ultimately not the contradiction it appeared at first glance.
My only remaining gripe is the human body.
No, not in terms of Penny’s identity (I’ve already discussed that at length), but in terms of the “I can only create what I’m given specific instructions for” rule. See, the group had Penny’s blueprints to allow Ambrosius to remove her robot parts. They had blueprints to allow Ambrosius to create the portals. They did not (to my recollection) have blueprints of a human, female body. Now, the obvious explanation here is that Ambrosius doesn’t need blueprints if he’s creating things on his own terms. It’s merely a requirement for those making a wish. So if Ruby had said, “I want Penny to have a human body,” she would have needed to provide information on how that body functioned. But if Ambrosius is suddenly faced with creating a body to avoid his “Must not destroy” rule, he can just create whatever the hell he wants. He has that power, blueprints or no. So that checks out too, except... why a human body? Seriously. Ruby said, “Remove the robot parts. I know that you know you can’t let Penny’s soul die, so better figure out what to do with it ;)” and so yeah, he had to do something, but WHY is Ambrosius’ go-to solution to create a HUMAN vessel? Penny wasn’t human! (From a biological standpoint.) He already had her technological blueprints! It 100% makes more sense for him to have created another, virus-free robot vessel, thereby reverting Penny to her status pre-Watts hack.
In what world does a magic genie get the blueprints to a robot, is told to remove the robot’s parts, is faced with the loophole of not allowing her soul to die... and then puts her into a human body unprompted?
So I think the loophole itself checks out. Badly explained and dependent on a whole lot of convenience, but solid once you clear all that up. The human part though? I don’t buy it. There was no reason for it, as far as I can see. RT wanted Penny to be human, but didn’t do the work to explain why Ambrosius would make her that way when backed into a magical corner. Ruby didn’t ask for it. That’s the whole point. If she had Penny would have been destroyed when the portals were made because “human body” would have become a part of the wish. That had to have been entirely Ambrosius’ doing to keep her alive, so I guess he just went, “Well, if I have to give her a body I suppose I’ll make her look identical to her old self except that she’ll be human now instead of the robot, the thing she was before, the thing I have blueprints for, and I’ll do this for... reasons. Just gonna make a human for funsies, definitely not because I exist in a story with a badly thought out Pinocchio comparison.”
(But yeah, all that aside the “I can create anything you explain” + “I have a major loophole preventing destruction” makes the Staff super OP and raises a ton of questions about why it was only used to float Atlas. Personally, I’ve been thinking about how much cooler it would have been if Ozpin had used it to create a body of his own  — explanation for why we’ve never heard a thing about who he was housed with at Beacon  — and was only forced back into the curse, into Oscar, upon death.)

2, 4, 5, 14, 23, 34 for the oc ask??? ówò
All answered under the cut because this one's a LONG one!
2. Do you have a personal favourite among your OCs? Surprisingly, this one doesn't go to any of my magia record OCs, but it goes to one of my oldest ones:
Tumblr media
Serachi here is due for (yet another) redesign, but she's always been my favorite! She's one of my first ocs as well- having followed me through fandoms for about...well, has to be over 10 years now, since she was originally created before I even made this tumblr! She was originally a warrior cats oc, fun fact!
4. A character you rarely talk about? That goes to Acrahni here:
Tumblr media
But that's largely because A) she's also in desperate need of a redesign and B) I keep forgetting what her role in the story is because I...may or may not keep forgetting to write it down. She's supposed to be an alien magical girl who lives in the depths of a volcanic planet, but she still looks...too human to be alien. Also the more I look at this old art (think it's from around 2018? 2019?) the more I realize how SMALL I made her head good lord.
5. If you could make only one of your OCs popular/known, who would it be? Oh, this one's a tough one! I love all of my children very much and I'd love for them all to get attention, but I'd really like for it to be...
Tumblr media
Morwen! Or really, any of my Magia Record OCs. They just have a really neat found family dynamic, and I love them to bits!
14. Introduce an OC with a tragic backstory
Alright everyone, let me introduce Melodia Noctis:
Tumblr media
Her backstory is that she is comprised of the souls of two dead twins that eventually gained its own consciousness. The body she resides in belongs to only one of them, and is stuck in a permanent state of near-death, only kept from dying because of magic. Her current state of existence is the result of cruel experimentation, and the scars on the head, arms, and abdominal area are due to multiple vivisections. She is turned against her home planet due to brainwashing, and she is convinced that they are holding her 'sister' hostage (even though she is her own sister, not that she's fully aware). Also this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
23. Introduce OC that has changed from your first idea concerning what the character would be like?
That actually goes to Flicker here!
Tumblr media
Flicker was originally supposed to be this bright, shining character who was like...extremely fun and outgoing and just wanted to be there for everyone, but she eventually just ended up becoming this tough, secluded character who only positively interacts with her 'twin', Morphe!
34. Do you have any twin characters?
So with my Magia Record OCs, I've got twins who only consider themselves twins because they came from the same book (Hera and Thanatos, Etoile and Morwen, Flicker and Morphe) (all those names link to their toyhou.se pages!) But, if you're referring to actual biological twins: Aria and Symphonia (Melodia's 'components')
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Emelio and Perita (I hit the image limit here, so I'm just going to link to their images on their toyhou.se pages as well!), Lillian and Diantha, Margarita and Rosalia, and Suzume and Tsubame!
They're all identical twins when not transformed EXCEPT for Lillian, Diantha, Margarita, and Rosalia, since they're robots and their mother/creator, Melodia, allowed them to choose their own appearances (which is why Margarita and Rosalia are both. Like That:tm:)

Book or Movie? “Warm Bodies” review
If I know I’m going to see a movie based on a book I usually read the book first, knowing full well that the movie will probably not live up to my expectations. However, I saw Warm Bodies in the theater before reading the book, so I had no preconceived notions about casting or characterization. In fact all I knew about Warm Bodies was that it was a take on Romeo and Juliet, but with zombies. I went to see this film with a group of friends who also happen to be co-workers. Of the six of us who went, only two of us really enjoyed it. So, she (Allison) and I decided to review the movie and book, which we read later.
The Movie "Warm Bodies" Directed by Jonathan Levine. Starring  Nicholas Hoult, Teresa Palmer, Rob Corddry &  John Malkovich
Amy: I don’t care what anyone else said, I loved Warm Bodies. It was funny, sappy, and a little bit gross. Exactly what one might expect from a zombie romcom. Allison: Thank you! I loved it! It was exactly what I wanted it to be - funny, cheesy, with only a few bits of horror! I also really liked how short it was - I’m sick of three hour long epics! Amy: I'm totally with you there. The thought of sitting in a theater for three-plus hours makes me dread going to the movies. Another thing I loved about Warm Bodies was R’s inner monologue. It was just funny and kind of sad. Yes there were parts that were kind of stupid, but again, it is a ZOMBIE romantic comedy.
Allison: Yes! A similar movie, Shaun of the Dead, was marketed as a romantic comedy with zombies, although that one was more about the living people than the dead. But the idea is the same - this isn't a gore-filled Romero movie. Yes, there are horror elements, but that’s not the crux of the story. While we’re on the subject, one difference between the movie and the book is the outfit R wears. In the movie, he wears jeans and hoodie (setting up a great joke) but in the book, R wears black dress pants, a white shirt and a red tie. I like to think this is a hat-tip to Shaun of the Dead, since that’s the same outfit Shaun (Simon Pegg) wears. Amy: Also, it was leaps and bounds better than Twilight. People need to stop comparing it to Twilight. Allison: I admit that I haven’t read Twilight, but I was forced to see the movie version and I agree 100%. It’s unfortunate that every movie with supernatural elements that centers on a romance is now, apparently, doomed to be lumped together with Twilight. I think many people who would really enjoy the movie haven’t or won’t see it because of that false association. Amy: Another thing I loved about this movie was the relationships between the main characters and their BFF’s. M stood by R when the rest of the zombies wanted to eat Julie and Nora stood by Julie when the rest of the humans wanted to kill R. Allison: Rob Corddry really stole the show as M; some of the best lines were his, whether they were funny or frightening. Both he and Nicholas Hoult expressed more in a grunt or a gesture than most other actros could. M’s character in the book is a bit different (at least physically) than how Corddry portrayed him, but the loyalty, humor and hope are there in each version.

Amy: I think Rob Corddry had about five spoken lines in the movie and I absolutely agree that he stole the show. I read somewhere that the cast studied with Cirque de Soliel to get the zombie movements down. I think they did an excellent job. Amy: Speaking of best friends, Julie's best friend Nora says during a dream sequence that if she could be anything in the world she wanted to be a nurse. As we were leaving the theater several members of our group were commenting that it was sad that she said nurse instead of doctor. I realize that being a nurse is considered to be a "typical" female profession but I think being a nurse is a truly noble profession. I have several friends that are nurses and they worked incredibly hard to get their degree. So, lets not disparage a woman for wanting to be a nurse instead of doctor in a film, especially a film about zombies. And now I will get off my soapbox. Allison: Yeah, I know some viewers really objected to that! In the book, Nora goes on to explain that she doesn't think that civilization will around long enough for her to finish medical school. Nora’s character is a bit different in the book - she’s older than Julie and a bit wiser - so her reasoning sits well with me, at least. Amy: I’m choosing to ignore the really terrible CGI from the movie because I don’t think it took anything away from the story.

Allison: I was pleasantly surprised that the CGI wasn't as bad as it could have been given the film’s budget. It reminded me of the mummies from the 1999 movie The Mummy - good enough for the purposes of the movie. And honestly, I thought they were pretty damn menacing! Allison: One last thing about the movie - Richard Roeper (of Ebert and Roeper) gave the movie 3 ½ stars. In his review, he says that he preferred Warm Bodies over other zombie movies and TV shows (The Walking Dead, etc.) because those zombies are predictable. A mutual friend who saw the movie with us took exception to that, and thought that Warm Bodies was no less predictable than other zombie fare. While I can see why someone might say that, I think Roeper meant that the movie didn't follow the usual formula of zombies being your standard unfeeling monsters, devoid of any humanity. Having zombies that retain or regain their humanity (as well as a human falling in love with one) deviates from the standard horror formula, where the story isn't at all about the zombies, but only about the human survivors, and the zombies can easily be replaced with aliens, giant robots or whatever. You're not going to find any multi-dimensional zombies staggering around in The Walking Dead. The Book "Warm Bodies" by Isaac Marion (Fiction Marion)
Amy: My first thought about the book is that while the movie could be considered YA, I wouldn't classify the book in that way. We have it shelved in adult fiction and I believe that is where it belongs. Allison: Agreed. The writing style is more complex than what you might find in some YA - the use of terms like "Escheresque" and "vertiginous" might throw younger readers off. A good portion of the book is spent with R describing what life as a zombie is like and R’s thoughts on what caused the dead to rise. In these passages the author, I think, is using zombie life as a metaphor for depression - the alienation, the lack of interest or ambition, even the dulled senses of the Dead. Of course, this isn't a theme restricted to “adult” literature, but some younger readers might become bored with R’s continuous ruminations. Amy: At the end of the movie you get a sense that everyone will live happily ever after. At the end of the book you get the sense that although things are getting better, it will take years and years before life returns to pre-plague conditions. Allison: One of the key plot points that happens very differently in the movie and books - and which we can’t really talk about since it’d be huge spoiler - definitely contributes to that. Without giving too much away, what ultimately happens with General Grigio (Julie’s father) in the book as opposed to the movie sort of sums up the ultimate message of each. Amy: Allison mentioned that in the book the character of Nora is different, older and wiser.  I liked both characterizations of Nora.  I liked her sense of fun and humor in the movie and how she was wise beyond her years in the book.  Maybe it is because I saw the movie first, but I think I liked the movie better. Allison: I’m having a hard time deciding which one I liked best, since they’re both so different in tone. The movie is much lighter and the focus is on the romance between R and Julie. The book delves deeper into the inner lives (such as they are) of the zombies. We hear a great deal more from R on subject other than Julie and learn that there is even a zombie society. The zombies hold worship services, have sex, marry and raise children. At the beginning of the novel, R meets and marries his wife and later they are given two zombie children to feed and teach. There’s much more world-building in the book than in the movie, which works really well. If the movie had too much of that - aside from R’s introduction at the beginning - it would have been bogged down and much too dark. One section I really enjoyed and illustrates the side of zombie society we don't see as well in the movie was R's (internal) explanation of why he dislikes being called a "corpse" or a "zombie." When Julie first calls R a "corpse" R thinks, "...I realize she can’t possibly know the sensitive cultural connotations of the word 'corpse' …" R also dislikes it when Julie refers to herself as "human," as opposed to a corpse or a zombie. R thinks of himself as human; a Dead human, but human nonetheless. Amy: Marion did an excellent job giving his characters depth and making the reader feel that the "Dead" were also human. He also did a great job relaying that both the Zombie and Human populations were dead in the sense that there was very little hope that either population would survive.  That being said, I would tell people to read the book and see the movie in any order they choose. Allison: Absolutely! After I read the book, I found the short story that inspired it, I Am a Zombie Filled With Love online. I'm also planning to read the prequel Marion is writing, The New Hunger which right now is only available as an eBook from Zola Books, but you can read an excerpt on Entertainment Weekly's website here.
