The thing that is striking me the most about this album is just how messy and human it is. She’s not holding anything back or trying to appear one way or another. She’s just letting it all out regardless of what anyone might say. She found that trying to be polished and keep all the ugly, imperfect, human stuff in to be stifling and just said fuck it I need to do this for me. This album was an exorcism for her.

you're losing me being written in 2021 surprised me a bit but didn't like totally shock me or make me reevaluate the whole album really. we already have hits different and the great war telling the story of a relationship that hits a breaking point before choosing to try again together and if anything it makes more sense to me as something that informs the backdrop but was written a while before the album was assembled

#like idk given that we know they were literally buying a house together at the start of this year #clearly there was a point of things being more steady and i think midnights being released during that point makes sense #in terms of tracklisting etc. obviously there's lots of turmoil but ultimately it gives the sense of overcoming the worst #as opposed to living it presently #talking #taylor swift
