Vervain~~ a tiny guide <3

Before making this post I didn't really know much about Vervain, except that it has a dope name. {vervain can be consumed, but please avoid consumption if you have any sort of kidney problems, as vervain can irritate or worsen kidney conditions.}

Folk Names~ common verbena, wild verbena, simpler's joy, holy herb, enchanter's plant, mosquito plant, wild hyssop, Indian hyssop, blue vervain, juno's tears, pigeon's grass, pigeonweed, and herb of the cross

Gender~ Feminine

Planet~ Venus

Element~ Earth

Properties~ Relaxation, love, healing, protection, Anti microbial, Purification.

Because of Vervains protection and purification properties, it can be used to cleans spiritual places and alters. weather as charms or burned as an incense. you can also sprinkle it around your house to protect it from evil spirits {make sure it wont harm your natural wildlife.}

Many roman solders would war vervain in satchels for Protection in battle, so why not follow their lead and do the same.

From what i can tell, the most popular use of Vervain, is as a tea. It can be used for aiding in astral, or divination work. An added bonus of drinking this tea, is that it can aid digestive issues. all the way from toothaches to ulcers! plus with some honey added!!! double antimicrobial tea lol.

Vervain has been used in both witchcraft and anti witchcraft spells. ironic right. It was well loved by the church, as a holy plant, but was also frequently used by pagans as a spiritual healing and protection herb.

Due to its protective nature, a pinch of this with some motherwort would be a great addition to an evil eye warding charm. or just any evil warding charms or spells.

It used to be believed that the undiluted? or unfiltered juice? they believed the juice could grant wishes. This lead to it being used in love spells, success spells, ect.

A good use for vervain is in a purification bath! dribble some vervain oil in your bath with some Epsom salt and relax!

Jeśli miałabym kiedykolwiek w życiu zabrać jedną jedyną książkę z mojej biblioteczki zdecydowanie byłaby to "Zielarnia. Jak czerpać że skarbów natury". I mimo iż na moich półkach jest więcej fantastyki która trzyma mnie przy życiu, to myślę że ta książka nie raz by mi to życie uratowała dzięki swojemu wnętrzu.

A Witch is deeply connected to the land she live on and near. We work with landspirits and form intimate connections. 🌿 So when you need the right plant spirit and their magical medicine it shows up at the right place at the right time. 🌿 I have been waiting for Rowan to come to me. I've been tending a little sapling that finally rooted this year. Sprouting beautiful lush green leaves. 🌿 Sadly she hadn't flowered or fruited yet. But I believe she must be looking out for me. 🌿 Yesterday and today a beautiful lush Rowan was presented to me and I was able to harvest the berries. The first screen print in my ‘Witch’s Cabinet’ series debuts this Monday on the Autumn Equinox! When I began my personal exploration of herbalism and plant medicine, Mugwort was the first herb I encountered and connected with. Its earthy smell, its bitter taste, the leaves’ silvery underbelly holding whispers of the lunar energy inside— I was drawn into her strong yet gentle aura and since, I have given her neverending love and in return she has taught me her ancient secrets of protection, transition, intuition, and divination. She also introduced me to numerous other medicinal plants that I’ve come to love as well, and for this I will always think of her as my “gateway herb.” When I think about all I’ve learned from Mugwort, it is no surprise to me that she is the oldest known plant used for magical practices. Yarrow~~ a tiny guide <3

Yarrow, often mistaken for Queen Anne's lace, Sweet fennel, And deadly hemlock. I haven't used it much in my practice, but after doing all this research on it I might just have to start! {not always safe to consume, make sure the products you use don't have the chemical thujone in them, and look up safe amounts to consume online. do not consume if you are taking anticoagulant or antiplatelet medication}

Folk names~ milfoil, thousandleaf, soldier's woundwort, bloodwort, nose bleed, devil's nettle, sanguinary, old-man's-pepper and stenchgrass.

Gender~ Feminine

Planet~ Venus

Element~ Water

Properties~ Healing, Creativity, Divination, Dream work, Banishment, Clarity, Prophetic love divination, Purification, Strength, Courage.

Since yarrow has protective and banishing properties, satchels over entry ways, or carried with you is a great way to protect yourself from negative energy.

you can seep yarrow in clean water. Then the water can be used to clean evocation tools to attract good spirits, and block dark spirits. You can also wash divination tools to help support clearer psychic vision.

just like with lavender, you can sprinkle the flowers around your home, charging them with the sun or moon is also good. this is a good way to protect the home from dark or unwanted spirits or energy.

Yarrow does have romantic properties... though they are not very strong. This makes them perfect for spells where you don't necessarily want to force anyone to love you, but rather get things started.

the leaves of yarrow can be used on wounds in a pinch, though it should never replace proper medical care. Chewing on grinding up the leaves then placing them on cuts is a way to help speed up the healing process. {BE AWARE THAT YARROW LOOKS LIKE DEADLY WATER HEMLOCK MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT PLANT AND NEVER ASSUME!!!}
