better-late-than-never day 6: golden
...like in "golden days".
it felt like the whole world was against me posting this but i'm finally done!! so here's a scene from the not-so-distant past, back when Dari wasn't so depressed and Rufus and Toni were still a couple. they often spent evenings in the bowling alley, both inviting their best friends. Dari didn't want to go at first, thinking it'd be too awkward to be around Rufus, but gave it a chance anyway and wasn't disappointed: her feeling of guilt seemed not to bother her while they were playing, and she still considers these evenings one of the best times in her life. while Dari didn't drink gnat's piss along with the others, she still gave all the support she could when they started using Wenzel as a bowling ball :D
i depicted Dari wearing something different for a change: while her wardrobe is definitely scarce, there still is a couple of less worn-out dresses. i also haven't figured out yet how to draw Wenzel in a less cartoonish style, so he has to remain a funny dwarf for now xD
oh and this is so far my personal record for most characters in one artwork...

“I don’t think instincts work in places you’ve never been.”
Cletus turned up his nose in triumph, “See, Argus thinks a map is a good idea!”
“That’s not what I said-”
Rufus’ frustrated pout dropped, but after just a moment it returned as an equally triumphant smirk, nose held even higher.
“Of course it’s a good idea, I did suggest it.”
Cletus recoiled, “You wh-? No you didn’t! I di-”
His brother was no longer in front of him, now halfway out the door.
“And since it’s my idea, I’m gonna find it first!”
“Oh no you won’t!”
The two barreled down the narrow path from their home, Argus taking the time to close the door behind them before jogging to catch up. Kuvaq was in the same state it always was: warm, stinky, and lively for an early morning, with people heading to work or wherever else they spent time.
In the town centre Rufus came to a halt, looking around, while Cletus overshot him and stumbled to stop himself.
“Now if I were a map, where would I be…”
They each put a hand on their chin, the same thoughtful gesture their Dad often performed, while scanning the surrounding buildings. Asking Gizmo was out of the question, not needing to draw suspicion to themselves, but who else would have such knowledge?
“I thought you guys were under house arrest.”
Rufus spun, looking for who spoke, before turning his gaze downward.
“Ah! Wenzel, I almost stepped on you!”
Argus frowned, “We haven’t been arrested, Gizmo says we're too young for that.”
“Why am I not surprised he’s even had that conversation with you? Anyway, what are you up to?”
“We’re looking for a map!” Rufus exclaimed.
“A map? Of what?”
Cletus pushed his brother aside, “Of here and around. We just want to know where places are. Can we not expand our knowledge of the world without being questioned?”
“Riiiight.” Wenzel looked at each of them, clearly considering his choices, before he turned and pointed to the town hall. “There's a board of information stuff in the hall-”
“Race ya!” Rufus pushed past, sprinting towards the building, his brothers and small friend soon following behind. Just inside the entrance, by the waiting chairs was the aforementioned board, littered with notices of mine work, lost pets, training and-
“Which one’s the map?”
Two folded pieces of paper hung below the scrawled word ‘MAP’.
“They both are, so just grab one.”

day 9: bounce
well i didn't abandon inktober, i just was too lazy to post my new artworks here xD
so for day 9, i couldn't come up with any interestang idea using more popular meanings of the world 'bounce', until i learned it's also an archaic slang for 'boast' and went with it. a sketch @bzbzbzzz made recently reminded me i had a Deponia pirate AU, which is actually very poorly thought out rn, and i doubt i'll get back to it any time soon, but why not have some Rufus trying to impress some people he met in a port but not being smart enough to walk away from the rest of the crew?
i decided not to make an english version of the pic this time and just put the translation in the desacription.
Rufus: ...And we see a merchant ship coming towards us! Loaded with tobacco.
Wenzel: It was a herring barrel with two rats inside.
Rufus: You and Bozo are two rats. So we board it and then - you won't believe me! - the captain's beautiful daughter comes up to the deck.
Lonzo: Those who've never seen a manatee will probably believe you.
Rufus: Of course you obly can hope for a manatee. Well, the crew all lost their heads, but I, as a true captain...
Bozo: I am the captain.
Rufus: Who let you speak cabin boy?! So if i wasn't so good at firing cannons...
Toni: It was a miracle we could fix the hole you made.
Rufus: Aw, come on. If I knew you all are so ungrateful I'd just take a lifeboat and leave you. Why on Earth am I so good at heart?..
