We are made of Star Dust
Though the overwhelming majority of humanity has never grazed the cosmic void, our atoms derive from deep space.
Almost every atom within each of us was once actually part of a nebula - The exact same atoms that build our bodies, were created by stars.
Giant stars, far larger than our Sun, veer towards a dramatic death at the final stages of their spectacular existence - The remainder of a star's energy then irradiates gas and dust that collect all around it, generating new elements that will enrich the atmosphere from which future stars and planets can eventually form.
So over the course of billions of years, these atoms are "recycled" into an uncountable number of different things, in all possible configurations, from simple table salt (NaCl) to our own, very complex, helical DNA that make us uniquely...Us.
But it's always the very same atoms produced in these colossal stellar deaths: matter that dying stars shed from their external layers during the last phase of their life.
And what we're witnessing is death and rebirth on the cosmic scale!
The intense radiation from the star's final explosion then contributes, through collisions of all those atoms in the outer layers, to form heavier atoms (almost everything from Iron (Fe) onwards on the periodic table).
Without supernovae, none of what we have around us would exist!
What then remains in the centre depends on the mass of the star - some supernova events leave behind a super-dense neutron star, while other more massive stars leave behind black holes.

This is the dust (all atoms except hydrogen and helium) inside the giant star-forming region known as the Pillars of Creation, about 6,500 light-years away (source: NASA/ESA/CSA/STScl)
They are, in turn, part of a much larger region called the Eagle Nebula, a young open cluster of stars in the constellation Serpens, part of a diffuse emission nebula, or H II region.
This image here was taken by the camera of the James Webb Space Telescope, at infrared wavelengths.
Within its depths, are a myriad of protostars and early stars in formation.

Unveiling galaxies at cosmic dawn that were hiding behind the dust When astronomers peer deep into the night sky, they observe what the universe looked like a long time ago. Because the speed of light is finite, studying the most distant observable galaxies allows us to glimpse billions of years into the past when the universe was very young and galaxies had just started to form stars. Studying this "early universe" is one of the last frontiers in astronomy and is essential for constructing accurate and consistent astrophysics models. A key goal of scientists is to identify all the galaxies in the first billion years of cosmic history and to measure the rate at which galaxies were growing by forming new stars. Various efforts have been made over the past decades to observe distant galaxies, which are characterized by electromagnetic emissions that become strongly redshifted (shifted towards longer wavelengths) before reaching the Earth. So far, our knowledge of early galaxies has mostly relied on observations with the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) and large ground-based telescopes, which probe their ultra-violet (UV) emission. However, recently, astronomers have started to use the unique capability of the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) telescope to study distant galaxies at submillimeter wavelengths. This could be particularly useful for studying dusty galaxies missed in the HST surveys due to the dust absorbing UV emission. Since ALMA observes in submillimeter wavelengths, it can detect these galaxies by observing the dust emissions instead. In an ongoing large program called REBELS (Reionization-Era Bright Emission Line Survey), astronomers are using ALMA to observe the emissions of 40 target galaxies at cosmic dawn. Using this dataset, they have recently discovered that the regions around some of these galaxies contain more than meets the eye. While analyzing the observed data for two REBELS galaxies, Dr. Yoshinobu Fudamoto of the Research Institute for Science and Engineering at Waseda University, Japan, and the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ), noticed strong emission by dust and singly ionized carbon in positions substantially offset from the initial targets. To his surprise, even highly sensitive equipment like the HST couldn't detect any UV emission from these locations. To understand these mysterious signals, Fudamoto and his colleagues investigated matters further. In their latest paper published in Nature, they presented a thorough analysis, revealing that these unexpected emissions came from two previously unknown galaxies located near the two original REBELS targets. These galaxies are not visible in the UV or visible wavelengths as they are almost completely obscured by cosmic dust. One of them represents the most distant dust-obscured galaxy discovered so far. What is most surprising about this serendipitous finding is that the newly discovered galaxies, which formed more than 13 billion years ago, are not strange at all when compared with typical galaxies at the same epoch. "These new galaxies were missed not because they are extremely rare, but only because they are completely dust-obscured," explains Fudamoto. However, it is uncommon to find such "dusty" galaxies in the early period of the universe (less than 1 billion years after the Big Bang), suggesting that the current census of early galaxy formation is most likely incomplete, and would call for deeper, blind surveys. "It is possible that we have been missing up to one out of every five galaxies in the early universe so far," Fudamoto adds. The researchers expect that the unprecedented capability of the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) and its strong synergy with ALMA would lead to significant advances in this field in the coming years. "Completing our census of early galaxies with the currently missing dust-obscured galaxies, like the ones we found this time, will be one of the main objectives of JWST and ALMA surveys in the near future," says Pascal Oesch from University of Geneva. Overall, this study constitutes an important step in uncovering when the very first galaxies started to form in the early universe, which in turn shall help us understand where we are standing today.

Overexposed (9)
Solas and Lavellan are rival art professors at the University of Orlais, so naturally everything turns into a competition, even romance.
Chapter 9: Blowout(Venus POV, NSFW)
Fuck it all, and fuck him especially.
She was fuming. The student’s paintings she normally would stop to admire on her way to the photography studio passed by her in a colorful redshifted blur, a pretty accurate depiction of her mood.
How dare he act like... like that!
The small, rational part of Venus’ brain realized she was being unreasonable. She had acted the exact same way towards him, but for some reason his indifference towards her at their department meeting stung, blindsided her, and that was something she was total unprepared for. She was supposed to be the one who acted cool and detached, uninterested, and he was supposed to cave and beg for her attention. When their eyes had met across the room, it was like a slap in the face. His gaze was devoid of feeling, of any of the spark that lit them so luminously the last time she had looked into them. Perhaps she expected something a little more, perhaps a flirtatious smirk or a hint of interest…
Damnit.
She had gotten her hopes up, against her will. And now had to deal with the consequences. She felt like a fool, and she loathed feeling fucked over. She needed to disappear for half hour and re-center herself before her first class.
The darkroom was practically calling her name, begging to be cleaned.
As she approached the door, she noticed it was ajar. Someone had already unlocked it… with a sinking suspicion, she pushed the door open with a little more force than was necessary.
That someone was standing in the center of the room.
“Son of a bitch.”
The words tumbled from her mouth with no effort to stop them. A startled Solas whipped around at the sound of her entrance. With a condescending tight lipped smile, she flipped him off and promptly turned on her heel to leave.
“Venus, wait.”
Before she could get out, his fingers curled around her elbow pulling her into the room, halting her confidence exit. He slid himself between her and the door, and pushed it securely closed.
Any witty, snarky, or smartass response she had thought she had ready died on her tongue as she glared up at him. In the dim light of the darkroom his eyes appeared to smolder, that spark she had been searching for earlier was back in full force. She was keenly aware of his grip, and the fact he had not let go, the fact she had not pulled away either.
He studied her face before saying, “I think we need to talk.”
She snorted. “Talk?” She tried to pull her arm out of from his grasp, but found his reflexes to be quicker than she expected. He caught her hand, fingers clasping over her own, as he took a step closer. “We’ve never talked outside of department meetings before, why start now.”
“Don’t do this.” He narrowed his eyes. “Don’t be like this.”
“Be like what,” she challenged.
She shifted her weight, taking a tiny step closer. The scent of his cologne lingered in the space between them, enveloping her senses and evoking feelings she had been trying (failing) to repress. The memory of his body pressed against her, her mouth buried in her crook of his neck as he moved within her nearly gave her whiplash. It must have shown on her face, or maybe he had the same flashback, for his breath caught.
She pushed on. “Once and done, remember?” Her heart rebelled in her chest as she reached up and cupped his face. She bit her lip, knowing damn well the effect it was going to have. He leaned into her touch.
“I remember,” he finally said, a breathless plea through half lidded eyes, “all too well, unfortunately. So why can I not resist?”
Suddenly, he was kissing her, or perhaps she was kissing him? Who made the first move didn’t quite matter to her at his point. All that did was his mouth tasting just like how she remembered. Sweet, and daring, and oh so clever. That his need matched her own. How his fingers found purchase on her hips and dug in, pulling her in close to meld with his own. How their breath found synchrony, lips found a rhythm attuned to their desire.
She pushed him up against the darkroom door and broke their kiss, nipping at his neck before dropping down to his waist. She made quick work of his belt and zipper, pressing her lips to the exposed skin of his abdomen as her hands freed his erection from the constraints of his pants.
She splayed her fingers over the soft flesh of his hips, before running her tongue from base to tip. She reveled in the way he fought to maintain control. She licked the tip of his dick, delicately, before taking him fully into her mouth. She let her fingertips drag themselves across his sensitive skin, dipping between his legs to massage the space between. The groan it elicited made her sex throb.
“Venus,” his fingers wound themselves into her hair, tightening their grip as she took him deeper with each motion of tongue, “please.”
Oh, how lovely his voice was when it was pleading her name.
She picked up her pace, hoping to hear him say her name like that again. He tensed under her touch, her fingers tracing the patch of sensitive skin between his legs under his sack. The fingers that had been massaging her suddenly twisted, pulling her hair sharply, pulling her away from him, and up.
She hooked her legs over his hips as he lifted her up, crushing his mouth against hers once more. He carried her over to the counter, knocking aside empty containment bins used for chemical baths, and setting her down. He pushed up the fabric of her billowing skirt and hooked her panties around one slender finger, sliding them down in one swift movement.
He was inside her before she could process her thong hitting the floor. Somewhere in her mind it registered that they were fucking in their darkroom, that classes were going to start in twenty minutes, and she would need to be fully composed and ready to teach a classroom full of hungover freshmen but she couldn’t’ bring herself to care. The sensation of him moving within her took full control of her mind, while his mouth took care of the rest. He breathed her name against her lips, and all the anger she had felt melted away. How could she be angry when this felt so right?
There was always tomorrow to be mad.
Or the afternoon.

Hey Kharlo! What original xbox games would you recommend? I was wanting Crimson Skies, since that'll be backwards compat, but I was wondering what other titles you considered amazing
The original Xbox is honestly one of the best consoles I’ve ever owned, but with that said, a lot of its games have been ported or gotten HD remakes at this point. I’d be weary of naming more obscure stuff, but Phil Spencer wants to revive Phantom Dust and Crimson Skies, so it’s clear that MS isn’t above digging deep. Let’s see…
-= Stuff you can’t get on other platforms or are better on the original Xbox =-
Panzer Dragoon Orta -
Easily the best rail shooter ever made. It’s artistically gorgeous, with a 360 camera view that changes the dynamic you usually get in rail shooters, evolving dragon forms (three, with differing speeds and power), epic boss battles, and a very compelling world and plot. One of SEGA’s greatest masterpieces.
Jet Set Radio Future -
The sequel to JSR that SEGA pretends doesn’t exist is a wildly different experience because it removed all timed missions, but it’s an excellent, excellent, artistically beautiful game.
Gunvalkyrie -
Another SEGA great; it’s a third person action game with a unique story, setting, and controls. It got mixed reviews because people literally didn’t understand how to play it, but if you got good at it, you could literally hover with enough skill to never touch the ground. An underrated action masterpiece.
Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge -
Sky pirates in an alternate 1930’s timeline where you dogfight your way through really fun levels and battles. One of my favorite old school games and I’m so glad Microsoft is getting asked about it enough that it’s the first thing they showed.
Otogi: Myth of Demons -
Third person action game like Ninja Gaiden by the creators of Dark Souls, From Software. It’s nowhere near as difficult as NG, but it has a very unique combat flow full of destructible environments and a gorgeous art style. Really phenomenal. It has a sequel that is apparently even better, but I never played it.
Quantum Redshift -
It’s literally F-Zero but FASTER and with an actual storyline. This one is amazing and completely forgotten despite being on par with F-Zero GX on the Gamecube when it comes to quality.
Project Gotham Racing 2 -
Before Forza, Microsoft’s flagship racer was PGR, which is actually not a racing sim, but a really fun arcade racer where your job is to race with as much style as possible. The game has a “kudos” system that rewards you points for doing daring stunts and racing elegantly. The second one, PGR 2 is the better of the two.
Fatal Frame II -
The Fatal Frame series is an amazing survival-horror set of games, but the best one still remains the second one, Crimson Butterfly. If you’ve never played any of the FF games, or only the Wii U one, be warned that the original three are terrifying. FF II was also on the PS2, but the Xbox has the best version and Sony is never doing PS2 backwards compatibility, so that’s that.
Ninja Gaiden Black -
The only action game to ever rival Bayonetta 2 in its perfection. There’s is an HD remake on the PS3 (Ninja Gaiden Sigma), but NG Black is the most balanced and complete version of the original Ninja Gaiden. It remained king of the action genre until Bayonetta 2 released, and it’s still a close second.
The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay -
A game featuring Vin Diesel, developed and published by his own gaming studio sounds like a recipe for disaster, but EfBB is actually superb, and it got rave reviews at release for a reason. Give it a shot if you can, since it’s truly fantastic, well acted, and has a great storyline.
Stubbs the Zombie: Rebel Without a Pulse -
This one is weird, but a ton of fun. It was made on the original Halo engine for some reason, but it’s a game where you play as a lone zombie in an alternate 1950’s America and your job is to turn everyone else into zombies. It’s fun and full of charm and humor. It released on PC as well, but it doesn’t run anymore and the developer never supported updates. This might be your only chance to play it.
Dead or Alive 2: Ultimate -
While Soul Calibur II was amazing, Dead or Alive 2 Ultimate was also excellent in it’s own right. It’s a really fun fighter that was Dead or Alive 2 in name only; it’s a complete remake with a ton of more interactive arenas, costumes to unlock, and so on. DoA is a very unique beast in the fighting genre, and it’s worth appreciating for what it does differently. This was also the first 3D fighter to ever go online when every other developer like Namco and SEGA said online 3D fighters were impossible to do.
Genma Onimusha -
The whole Onimusha series is excellent, and the Xbox port of the first Onimusha is still the better version of that game. Totally worth checking out if you wanna play Resident Evil in Feudal Japan.
Silent Hill 2: Restless Dreams -
The PS3 HD remake of this game is utter garbage, and while the PS2 original version is still the best, this one is a pretty good port. It’s still one of the better ways to experience SH2 outside of emulation. Of course, SH2 is a masterpiece.
-= Acquired Tastes =-
Shenmue II -
I LOVE the Shenmue games, but they haven’t aged well and a lot of people find them boring rather than immersive. Shenmue II has a lot more action and better story pacing, though, so it’s the better of the two by a landslide. Still, playing this game now is only possible if you import it for the Dreamcast, have an old Xbox, or if you manage to emulate it (which is hit or miss).
Sudeki -
This one got a lot of flack for the awful art style, and fairly so. But underneath the weird pseudo-anime design from a British studio, there’s a lot to like. The game is colorful and vibrant, and the combat system still remains one of the best real-time and turn-based hybrids in gaming. Weird, but fun and worth a look. It’s also on PC, but getting it to run can be a hassle.
Conker: Live and Reloaded -
A lot of people are divided on this one because, even though it adds new sequences and has gorgeous graphics even to this day, Microsoft actually censored a lot of dialogue in places where Nintendo didn’t. Personally, I find it infinitely funnier hearing a foul mouthed squirrel getting repeatedly bleeped than having him actually spit out the profanity, but that’s just me.
-= Stuff you can pick up on PC and will probably play better (although Spencer mentioned original Xbox games getting upgrades, so we’ll see) =-
Fable Anniversary, Voodoo Vince Remaster, Jade Empire: Special Edition, Stars Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, Max Payne, Max Payne 2, House of the Dead III, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Psychonauts, Splinter Cell, and Oddworld: Strangers Wrath HD.-= Stuff you can pick up on newer consoles  =-Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has an HD remake for the PS3 collection, and Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysey has an HD remake on PS3 as well. Phantom Dust you can get on Xbox One right now (highly recommend). You can get Grabbed by the Ghoulies in an HD remake with the Rare Replay (this game got a lot of shit, but it was mostly unfair and it remains really fun). You can get Beyond Good and Evil in HD for the 360 and it’s backward comp with the Xbox One; same with Soul Calibur II HD. You can get Halo and Halo 2 remasters in the Xbox One Masterchief Collection.
I think that covers it.

With our naked eye, we will only ever see the stars that are nearest to us out of all the stars in all the galaxies in the cosmos:
All the stars that we see in the sky with the naked eye are the stars closest to us in the Milky Way. Of all the stars in all the galaxies throughout the universe, we will never see with the naked eye any other than those closest to us.
The sole exception to this rule is potential supernovae events: if there is enough energy in the vicinity of this event, we may be able to detect the light of a dying star with our gaze - but even then, it won't be visible beyond the Milky Way's neighbourhood.

Senior Data Engineer job at iflix Sdn Bhd Malaysia
iflix is YOUR collection of TV shows & movies that you can stream or download, anywhere, anytime, on any device, on your terms for an incredibly low price.
Imagine being able to access a crazy huge selection of your favourite shows, THOUSANDS of hours or TV and movies from all over the globe. Shows from Hollywood and Hong Kong, Seoul and Shanghai, Thailand and Tokyo... And imagine being able to watch it whenever you want, wherever you want, 24/7 on your phone, laptop, tablet, TV...whatever...all for less than the price of a pirated DVD. That's iflix.
WE’RE A STANDOUT COMPANY AND WE DO THINGS A LITTLE DIFFERENTLY.
We keep it real. We speak from the heart. Our honesty shocks you at times and our cheekiness (not cheesiness) will tickle you.
You see...
We want to bring a world of endless storytelling to everyone who shares our passion for TV and movies.
We want to give our members instant access to a lifetime worth of entertainment no matter where they might be, or what they might be doing.
We want our members to feel that they're at the heart of everything we do, every single day.
We want our members to tell our story, not the other way around.
Let's Play!
iflix is on the lookout for a AWESOME Senior Data Engineer to join our team in KL and support our amazing team of visionaries, disruptive geniuses, industry rebels and creative ninjas in building what will soon be the most engaging, and widely used entertainment platform on planet Earth.
You will help build our next level data platform - giving us great insight into how our business is running and delivering the detailed science and analytics to provide an engaging user experience.
You should have extensive and strong skillset working and designing modern data platforms including NoSQL and SQL tools such as Redshift, Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Presto, Athena in a Big Data environment.
WE LIKE TO LOOK BEYOND JOB DESCRIPTIONS BUT THESE ARE THE KIND OF THINGS THAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO BE INVOLVED WITH...
Architect and design the data platform to handle terabytes of user data and petabytes of event data
Work closely with the Product Owners to prioritise workload and the strategic data plans and deliverables
Drive efficient delivery around data engineering with continuous integration, Git, PRs and constructive code reviews
Ensure our data is secure and protected and our business and our users privacy is strongly enforced.
Actively encourage and participate in the team to help improve velocity and attend retrospectives for continual improvement.
Collaborate with the data analytics and science teams to understand our customers' requests and apply data to build, innovate and improve the product and the business.
GREAT IF YOU CAN FIT THE REQUIREMENTS BELOW, BUT IF YOU ARE FUN, PASSIONATE AND EXCITING WE CAN OVERLOOK SOME OF THEM...
Agile at heart - Effective implementation of agile methodology and cross-functional communication.
Clear and constructive communicator – Ability to convey information to people clearly and simply, in a way that means things are understood and get done. It's about transmitting and receiving messages clearly, and being able to read target audiences, be it senior management, clients, subordinates, team members or working partners from other tech teams. Also be open to suggestions and take respect for others opinions.
Decision maker – Analyses multiple solutions to a problem and is confident and comfortable with making decisions and informed risk taking with little to no guidance from immediate manager.
Leader - Ability to lead and provide guidance to product owners and team involved in the development of the data platform.
Outcome driven - Embraces the company's vision and works closely with the Data and Product teams to achieve these objectives and outcomes.
Time management – Ability to manage multiple task and responsibility through workload delegation amongst team members to meet target datelines in a timely manner.
Develop self and others – Always staying competitive by being up to date with the latest soft and technical skills and being able to mentor others while learning from others.
Experience - Close to 10 years relevant working experience in data engineering.
You can recognize an iflix person a mile away. We’re a little different: we color outside of the lines, we march to the beat of our own drum, we move freely and a little faster than the crowd.
