24 is the highest number is embedded into my brain to the point where if the number 24 comes up while counting anything I have to say to myself "that's the highest number"

On May 6, 1941, Bob Hope performed his first USO Show at March Field in Riverside, CA #OnThisDay
From 1941 to 1991, Hope spent 48 Christmases overseas with U.S. troops. In 1997, Congress declared Bob Hope the “first and only honorary veteran of the U.S. armed forces.”

bob's burgers is about the cycle of abuse and doing better than yours parents did for you But it's a much more wholesome take on that than like bojack horseman or moral orel. because bob and linda actually succeed at being good parents/people lol

I’ve been wanting to rewatch Boys Just Wanna Have Fungus which is @br1ghtestlight’s favorite episodes, and I can see why. This moment is one of my favorites between Bob and Gene:

Welcome back with a very impromptu episode of the search for "The Great All-American Pizza Show!"
It hasn't been long since my last post and TGAAPS was supposed to be a monthly thing but I got some info that's a little too good sounding to wait. So if you remember last time I talked about Bob Wilkins and his ad agency. So I searched and searched and guess what? Still nothing! Then I had the idea to contact the owner of a Bob Wilkins fansite. I sent an e-mail and was surprised to get an answer pretty quick!
Tumblr media
We now know that Bob's company was simply called "Bob Wilkins Advertising Inc." and he had offices in Orinda and Sacramento, not far from the Citrus Heights or Concord locations where a commercial was shot. I was expecting the conversation to end there but I was lucky enough to get a REAL bombshell dropped.
This person is in charge of the Psychotronix Film Festival where they show a bunch of old movies, commercials, and short films, including a bunch of Bob's old stuff. Everything is on 16mm film, "The Vinyl of Visuals". I feel that there's a decent chance that at least the Citrus Heights Commercial could be shown there! It's on Saturday, April 6th, 8:30PM at the Orinda Theater.
I live in MA so going all the way to CA is kinda out of the question for me. This is where some audience participation is involved. Yeah that's right! You! Spread the word! If you or a friend live in the CA area and are available at that time and date, consider buying a ticket. Even if you don't see it, I think it's still worth a visit! Until then, see ya!

hi doccy. hopefully your askbox is working. i would LOVE to read the edas but. what order do i tackle them in. i've been intimidated by them for over a year send help.
uh oh….. i am also intimidated by them 😭 and my reading strategy isn’t anything special, i am always struggling to find time or energy to read - BUT here’s my best advice:
go through the summaries of the first 10-15 books and sort them by the ones that sound interesting, and the ones you might get stuck on. for the interesting ones, try reading them in physical or digital form; for the ones you kinda wanna skip ……. well. i figured out that the internet archive has a built-in screenreader (with a very robotic voice), and that i could stomach the voice for long periods, so i just listened to them like audiobooks while at work or walking around.
not everyone will be able to tolerate the voice.
i must emphasize that. i can imagine it being very annoying to listen to an entire book that’s been fed through an electric box fan, especially if you have auditory processing delays, but that was my strategy for getting through some of the slowest and least crucial plot lines (imo: the eight doctors, war/legacy of the daleks, longest day, kursaal). to conserve your reading momentum, you can skip these books entirely, or come back to them later.
the ones you’re drawn to - try looking for copies online, either physical (abebooks, thriftbooks, and better world books are ones i check, but you may only find the rarer ones on abebooks, ebay, and mercari) or digital (there are pdfs on the internet archive, and i think i might have some books saved as google drive files? get back to me on that, they might be in the main dw file…. hmm.)
i’m a habitual collector so i’ve been amassing my doctor who bookshelf for a few years, but certain books are touch and go, you never know when another copy will show up. i have ebay alerts on for so vile a sin 🫣 i prefer physical books to keep my attention span and to keep notes - i fill them with color-coded sticky notes for future reference because i’m totally meshuga.
i hope that some of this is helpful, or leads to something helpful. enjoy the many tragedies!!!!

Insert “Was anyone gonna tell me [Blank] or was I supposed to just find out from [Blank]” meme here about how DEXTER IS THE HAPPY FELLAH OH MY GOSH
this makes things so damn tragic when you see the notes while this man was spiraling. When we see him in Deadly Smiles he is on that VERGE of a meltdown, past the point of being able to restrain himself from hurting even kids. And even then- EVEN THEN!!!-man is trying to get AWAY from Skid and Pump when he can, to find a fix elsewhere, from ANYONE else if it’s an option, and by majority going at adults!
A willingness to be brought home by Roy at seeing the bullying happening, to go at the homeless guys, the van kidnapper, even the criminals in jail. But time and time again, getting thwarted, being diverted, until the promise of never getting away from these kids and starved makes him SNAP.
I have to rewatch Deadly Smiles and just, take this all in with this new perspective I am REELING.

Banned in Tennessee: Jackie Gleason and Bob Hope perform a comedy skit on stage as vice squad policemen in drag - Central Park, New York (1975)
[h/t Scott Horton]
* * * *
“Whatever you proclaim as your identity here in the material realm is also your drag. You are not your religion. You are not your skin color. You are not your gender, your politics, your career, or your marital status. You are none of the superficial things that this world deems important. The real you is the energy force that created the entire universe!”

top 5 mota characters???
okey dokey here goes nothing
#5 harry crosby
he’s hard to define, but he’s simultaneously an interesting character and a bit of a wet noodle. but also i relate to him as someone who also could make overthinking into an olympic sport and as someone with negative swag. but. he’s endearing, and i personally like him idk
#4 ken lemmons
it’s KEN, he’s a sweetheart, he’s a softie and he’s damn good at his job, what more could you want
#3 bucky egan
car salesman: this bad boy can fit so much angst! honestly 90% of my mota thoughts relate back to him because he’s obsessed and in love and he’s the saddest dumbest loverboy ever. he’s also a lot of fun to write
#2 benny demarco
this is probably because i’ve got demacon thoughts by proximity, thanks to folks like @blood-mocha-latte, but he also brought a DOG on an aeroplane. guys do you see this shit?? HE GAVE IT A LITTLE AIR MASK??? best guy ever.
#1 Rosie Rosenthal
okay if you’ve known me for .5 seconds then you probably knew this. look at the pfp. idek how to describe him. his little dance. his little outfits. he’s my favourite ever. he’ll go down in history as one of the most blorbo from my shows.
