A hunter of love and peace

Here’s another great shot from Tekko last weekend 🥰 absolutely love cape drop photos and I knew I wanted to get one as Vash with his coat.

Did a bunch of upgrades for this con:

half wig/wig topper instead of a full wig (Kyle from arda wigs with the undercut part removed). I love how it looks using my real undercut, so i'm really happy with this.

Made a harness to be worn under the coat to help support the weight of the arm (worked great!!!! Made it so the arm didn’t slip down)

Boning added to the collar to make it stand up consistently where the coat opens (need to figure out how to get the whole collar to stand up all the way around the hood)

And the best upgrade, LED’s have been added to the arm to light it up! (Sadly not very visible here thanks to the lighting)

What a difference just a year makes! I've learned so much, and while there's still plenty more to go, I'm just happy to know I've made a massive leap in my crafting ability. Just goes to show what you can accomplish with a bit of grit and inspiration! I'm going to try and relax this month, work on my model kit back log, get back to exercising regularly - but October is a whole 'nother story. Puppets, props and weapons on the horizon. And - big plans for next year!

Kira Imai at Tekko 2019: “Celebrating Fashion Every Day as a Birthday” (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) 

Q: Is there any upcoming projects and collaborations you are releasing next? A: I have been collaborating with a traditional box maker in Kyoto, making jewelry boxes that are going to be released soon. Some look like books, while others are in a unique tubular form.

Q: What is the current theme you are working on for the future? A: Next month I am working on a theme called “Heart’s Parlor”, it is lolita fashion but a bit more stylish and closer to the gothic themes. It’s a different style from my usual; I want to integrate my style in another direction, more dark and spooky.

TEKKO DUMP PT. 1!!! (yes it was in july I should have uploaded these months ago)

Punk vash Thursday night was fun because I was not expecting a random Tokyo Revengers character to go "👀👀👀 you're wearing him tomorrow for his birthday RIGHT" and then show up on Friday in a sick Knives cos with a sick Zazie running buddy. We didn't get into maids until Hella Late because masquerade ran Hella Late but the dresses did convince someone to watch Trigun so. Net positive imo

Kira Imai at Tekko 2019: “Celebrating Fashion Every Day as a Birthday” (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) 

Q: Is there someone that you work with that you admire the most? A: Angelic Pretty’s Maki. When we collaborate, I would create the print pattern and surface design, and Maki would create the form and fit of the dress. I can totally trust Maki’s design.

Q: Has Angelic Pretty given you any constraints and limitations on your print designs? A: Aside from avoiding overlapping designs with the ones to be sold at the same time, I have been given a lot of freedom in my art. I have been working with the people at Angelic Pretty nearly for 20 years, so I have a trusting relationship with this team.

Q: What music do you listen to when drawing art? A: I listen to music without lyrics to help me concentrate. I do my initial draft drawings with intense concentration. My initial drawings are usually done in the middle of the night with no phone or doorbell interruptions and also a nice cup of caffeinated tea. Once the artwork is transferred to the computer work, then I can listen to any type of music or English dramas (currently “Criminal Minds”) to help me learn English.
