#THAT IS SO WILDLY UNTRUE!

psychiatrists and pro-psychiatry ableists often label antipsychiatry as fearmongering, which is hilarious not only because it isn’t true but because psychiatry itself relies on fearmongering to continue existing. “accept this treatment or i will label you as noncompliant” is not care, it’s a threat.

I think we gotta start recognizing that "things accepted online/in leftist spaces" and "things accepted by the general public in the real world" are two very different things. like no actually gnc men are Not suddenly seen as okay because there are drag queens on tiktok. men are still beaten and harassed and ostracized and Killed for being feminine. in the us. in my very liberal city full of ppl with blue hair and pronouns I am made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome for being a gnc guy. the tiktok comments on videos of men wearing make up are not indicative of the beliefs of most people

Saw a tiktok of the live action cast reacting to the trailer, and honestly I’ve seen that there’s a lot of scrutiny, mostly from reddit dudebros, surrounding Luffy’s vibe but honest to god if you don’t think Inaki is putting 110% of his heart and soul into this role and you’re still complaining then what are you doing?
The man was CRYING watching that trailer, I can’t 💔
This entire cast is incredible and they’re doing everything within their power to bring our beloved characters to life the best they can. Can we at least appreciate that much?
Edit: Having a constructive critique is fine, seeing how he can improve the role without being hurtful is good actually. But actively shitting all over everything he’s worked for without even saying why is just hurtful and rude. It’s like when I was in art classes and we critiqued each other’s work. Telling someone they could improve a piece by taking certain steps is good but saying it looks bad is just unhelpful and rude.
Build each other up, help one another, instead of just tearing them down, is that not what One Piece is all about?

“Edward IV was never the sole, undoubted representative of the kingship before I47I. The crowned, anointed and, most important, de facto king of nearly forty years standing, was still alive, never abdicated and was never deposed; he was free until I465 and safe thereafter so long as his heir was beyond Edward's reach ... Barnet, Tewkesbury and the prompt murder of Henry VI, the moment it was safe to do so, alone changed all this and secured Edward's de facto kingship at last. The 'first reign' was in fact the road to the throne.”
- B.P Wolffe, review of “Edward IV” by Charles Ross
#edward iv#english history#that's a really good point I think#Edward IV was definitely in a wildly different and far more vulnerable situation from other 15th century usurpers#Henry IV and Richard III both had the usurped kings in their control and both Richard II and Edward V were childless so their usurpers#didn't have to worry about direct heirs#Henry VII defeated Richard in battle and was thus not only able to avoid the stain of regicide but was also able to gain added legitimacy#God-given victory in battle; divinely ordained triumph etc#Richard III also didn't have any legitimate heirs & hadn't formally declared anyone else his heir either#(and was himself viewed as an usurper himself by many)#So without discounting their difficulties they were all ultimately 'de-facto' kings from the beginning. Meanwhile Edward IV lacked that#across his 'first reign' and still somehow managed to get through which I think is actually pretty impressive imo? All things considered?#Ofc that's not to say that the circumstances were totally neat-and-clean for Henry IV Richard III and Henry VII - that's laughably untrue#But it was fundamentally different and more 'secure' in comparison to *Edward IV's* specifically#(John Guy talks about this in 'Tudor England' as well)#That's not even getting into how Edward IV was so much younger than the other three usurpers (he was 18 to their 32 30 and 28 respectively)#when he ascended the throne. So ultimately I think that his first reign was certainly very different and more vulnerable#which I definitely think this should be kept in mind when evaluating it - particularly if the evaluation is comparative in nature#(eg: in terms of internal opposition; foreign opposition; support; room to make mistakes etc)#On the flip-side it's also VERY indicative where Richard III is concerned. Because however morally distasteful his usurpation may have been#on a personal level - he WAS ultimately the de-facto king and the best option for dynastic continuity. And was clearly attempting a#policy of pardon and reconciliation where his brothers' followers were concerned. So it speaks volumes that despite that - despite#having nothing to gain and everything to lose - so many people rebelled against him or defected to a rival claimant who could#at that point offer them no such manifest advantage whatsoever

I think I’ve misclicked trying to scroll and accidentally voted on like two polls today (X X; ).
In funnier tumblr news tho, my recommendations are filled with some random guy from Adventure Time because tumblr noticed that I tag the name Simon a lot. I keep getting excited and disappointed seeing posts talking about Simon but it’s wrong one every time lol.

i could post some art takes but i’d rather not be shot on sight
#uuuuuuuugh i've become hmmm kinda frustrated with seeing takes on interacting with art#that outline rather strictly the wrong and right way to do it and all of them make me feel very.....unsettled#saying that there are more productive ways to engage with art is fine#i dont find that to be untrue#but some people go much stronger than that#and then also often add moral implications to it#this is mostly about writing#and its funny cause i can guarantee that some people (not all obvs) who tend towards this thinking in regards to literature#will not treat visual art in the same manner#which just opens up another 5 different cans of worms frankly#im not trying to be annoying here but studying visual art and the truly broad and diverse movements from all over the world that are a part#of it has made me realise how many aims art can have#often these aims are followed by very elaborate and fair explanations#that simply come from wildly different contexts/cultures#understanding that makes it so much harder to reduce art to a single purpose#and to have a clear order of what is 'better'#anyway im being very vague about this because im mostly uuuh complaining and have no interest in discourse#and uuuh as a bonus#people can simultaneously engage critically with something and makes jokes about it another time#the fact that people talk about it truly like one is incompatible with the other is...astounding#normal things to be posting at 1pm#if you read all of this ur weird and im kissing u on the mouth#logs

No girl group sounds like this anymore, and it's sad. Losing 2NE1 took a bigger hit on me as a fan of kpop for more than 15 years. They, along with Bigbang were one of those groups that forced everyone else to be competitive musically. It was all good while it lasted. Just came back here to reminisce.
LOL

Hmmm have to post this for clarification I think becuz ppl keep misconstruing me:
A) I think u can HC what u want no one’s stopping u (that doesn’t mean ppl can’t say things abt it)
B) HCing other versions (like a book version or whatnot) of a character that r not specifically canon to a certain sexuality/gender is fine
C) if u HC a character as multiple genders that include the canon gender, fine whatever idc
D) now when u completely erase said characters canon sexuality/gender (specifically if queer (or honestly if straight if that’s important to the character, like Tao in Heartstopper, etc.)) that’s when I start to have an issue. Representation is so important to ppl and erasing that for ur fic or art or whatever is hurtful to ppl. Esp w/ underrepresented genders and sexualities. I am begging u to think abt how it might hurt ppl when u do this okay? Imagine if u HCed a canonically bi character as gay?? It’s not cool! Why is that different for gender? I understand gender is fluid and whatnot but these r characters, and representation of specific identities is important
Anyway blah blah blah what do I know I’m a stupid kid ig

Never Again wasn't a promise the world made to us after the Holocaust. Never Again doesn't mean, "Oops! So sorry about that, Jews, we'll make sure it won't happen again!"
It was a decision we ourselves made for ourselves, that never again would we be in a position of being completely subjected to the whims of gentile rulers, living or dying as they pleased. Never again would we not recognize the signs of an impending genocide, never again would we not have a Jewish self-defense force in our Jewish homeland dedicated to protecting Jews the world over.
Never Again is an intrinsically, inseparably, irrevocably Jewish concept. Antizionists don't get to take it from us and announce that we're violating it, don't get to turn it against us as an antisemitic weapon. It's ours. To accuse Israel of being modern-day Nazis, of committing genocide, or compare October 7th to the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, or to otherwise draw parallels between the literal, actual fucking Nazis and Israel is such a polemical, incendiary, false, and demonizing accusation to make--against the Jewish state no less--that the only thing it could ever be is antisemitic.
So yeah, if you post #gaza genocide or whatever, you're being antisemitic. What makes you so confident it's a genocide? That you would look at the ICJ rejecting the assertion that Israel's actions in the war constitute genocide and say, "Yeah, you see these judges who serve on a court literally adjudicating international law? Yeah, I know more about it than them. They're wrong."
The conceit and disrespect embedded in the pro-Palestine movement really blows me away sometimes. It takes a supremely arrogant and narcissistic person to say such wildly untrue and hateful things.
