not to overstate things but truly my vilain origin story is the number of people who seem to think that 'what are useful ways to interact with visual art' is not a complex conversation that's lasted for centuries

#i've seen so many posts about this when it comes to literature but the vast consesus on this site and often of it #is that visual art is just meant to make you feel things and therefore that same conversation is IMMEDIATELY elitist when it comes to visua #*visual art #i know thats a take people have for literature is well dont get me wrong #its just that i've seen a lot more people defend the importance of critically interacting with litearture than with visual art #where because of capitalist art instituions that represent conceptua and modern art #people go down this insane route of -> conceptual and modern art is inherently elitist and bad -> therefore thinking about art is actually #elistist and bad #????????????? #NO #okay im done #i should just go back to posting about art theory #make some more posts with 2 notes about it #make a lil basic 101 art theory through the ages #logs #gen art tag
