Idle curiousity: Is it negotiations that determine who gets a picture featured where in convention promotions? Because in Burbank, for example, Mark Sheppard has been in much more SPN and I've met him frequently at cons. He was frequently featured in the show's promotions. Yet I see that JDM is in the banner in a more prominent spot than everyone, plus Mark is not given a picture at all. To SPN outsiders, JDM might be more widely known (based on imdb stats) but Mark also brings multi franchises.

My experience is the promotional pictures are entirely up to the convention owners/organizers based on what they think will bring them money.

06/29/2015 - Misha and Creation Entertainment registers Stands LLC .

10/16/2015 - Creation Entertainment advertises the upcoming Chicago con with Jensen and Misha and the AKF tagline in their main banner.  Fandom’s outrage forced them to take down the Jensen/Misha banner three days later and replaced it with a Jared/Jensen banner.

02/11/2016 - Jensen and Misha launch the YANA campaign with series of videos filmed on SPN set and lines written by SPN writers.

Conclusion: YANA was a bust and memory holed.

since we are kinda talking about queer home I need to remind you that the first project in this fandom that i came up with and organized with a few other fans was project home in 2016, where the fans’ appreciation of the song was often directly linked to queer fans feeling represented by it and feeling safe. home first leaked and then was released as a part of an EP and we wanted to get it on the radio, fan release it as a single, and we planned a first week where each day was dedicated to one of the boys - we got a hashtag trending, streamed the song, requested it on the radios, people did fan art, edits etc. dedicated to each of the boys, it was huge and it was all building up to a thunderclap and a ‘release’ of the song, but the project continued for another few weeks after that. the project was acknowledged by Jay and Liam’s family before it even kicked off as well as by Louis when he got papped in a ‘HOME’ tshirt, during the main week the boys tweeted when it was the day dedicated to them, Liam even thanked a radio station for playing the song, Jamie Scott who also wrote on the song followed and acknowledged us a lot, I said multiple times I wanted to make the boys smile and on Louis’ day, he tweeted thanks for making us smile always and I died. the fandom came together in an incredible way, the song was played on the radios, we had articles (even MTV) written about the project, especially Liam and Louis acknowledged it so so much as well as did their families, and it was such an amazing effort, and a lot of it was linked to the song meaning so so so much to the fans. a song that wasn’t even on the album ended up winning a TCA later, which got us yet another acknowledgement. there’s such an important and beautiful history behind home and the song means so much to me and im so glad it still means so much to so many people

Tout le monde me dit que je suis radieuse ces derniers temps. Et c'est vrai que depuis 1 mois et demi je me sens foutrement bien, ça coïncide avec la rencontre avec Babe mais ça n'a rien à voir. Depuis 1 mois et demi la vie à un goût vraiment différent. Je m'intéresse à pleins de choses sans perdre l'énergie pour ces choses, ok j'y suis pas à 100% mais c'est nouveau pour moi, à part l'écriture j'ai jamais vraiment eu de hobbie, mais parce que le monde m'a toujours donné l'impression que quand on a un hobbie faut s'y dévouer corps et âmes, et moi c'est pas ma façon de fonctionner. Il m'a fallu beaucoup de temps pour comprendre que je fonctionnais par petit temps genre 10min par ci, 20min par là, mais jamais des journées entières sur un même truc sinon mon énergie et mon attention sont low. Du coup j'ai toujours eu pleins de hobbie qui ont gravité autour de moi sans que j'en ai conscience, genre depuis 2016 la nutrition c'est un truc vachement important dans ma vie (bon cet intérêt en commençant m'a causé des tca donc tu m'étonnes que j'ai pas voulu le voir comme un hobbie) PAUSE JE CONTINUE APRÈS Y A JACK QUI ME DEMANDE

do you reckon the cockles girls play/hang out sometimes, I know it's like their life etc, but I love it when we see their daughters interact or even J2 with their kids (even though I don't like J*red and apparently J2 kids will be going to the same school I think....whilst Misha's children are in LA?).

we really don’t see much about their children (jensen/misha’s) nowadays.. i wasn’t here years ago but i know they posted more about their children back then. and as far as i know they only posted about their kids together, maybe once or twice?

i can only remember that one post of JJ and Maison from december 2018, but there have been other occasions they’ve spoken about of their families together that we’ve never seen. or just found out about them years after the fact. we know west took his first steps in jensen’s backyard, they went on that boat trip in 2016 after they won the TCA for best chemistry. so i’d say they do.

Also, do hellers not realize that if "market research" actually happened, and destiel didn’t, that means most people actually didn’t want to see it on screen. This is not winning, no matter what way you look at it.

That's a lot of words to say nothing. It was not a "Destiel Market Research", it was a heller trying to influence the direction of the focus group. The "crypt scene"? Was she talking about "Goodbye Strangers"? That was 2013. She said the market research took place in December 2016, during season 12 when Misha's contract was going to expire after the season wrap up and he took a demotion in season 13 when Alexander Calvert was hired as a regular.

You're correct, the OP was promoting hard the biDean/Destiel fanfiction and none of it took. If anything, it would further convince WB not to renew Misha's regular status and demote him to guest/recurring status while focusing on launching Kathryn Newton's Wayward Sisters spinoff in season 13.

CW knew a Castiel-led spinoff would not work and the real Market Research proved that. During the 2013 TCA event, when asked about making a spinoff centered on Castiel, Pedowitz turned down the idea and indirectly said that Cas was not a rich enough character, unlike the Vampire Diaries characters that could carry spinoffs. Reminder, the "crypt scene" in season 8 took place in 2013 and Marketing Enterprise stopped surveying Misha's popularity status after 2013 because it was too far below the threshold. Pedowitz and WB knew the results from Marketing Enterprise and why they were okay with decreasing scenes between Dean and Cas by 50% every season from 9 to 12 via Jensen's request.
