Does anyone remember when Steven Moffatt was the showrunner of Doctor Who and Sherlock at the same time and he introduced a married lesbian couple in Doctor Who who were supposed to be a genderswapped Sherlock and John, but he kept saying that the actual Sherlock and John he was writing in Sherlock weren't gay and would never be gay and the audience was reading into things too much, but said in an interview he would never make gay jokes for no reason without an endgame planned because that would be homophobic? And also one of the lesbians was a lizard? That was kinda weird, right?
Not the lizard part, though, that part ruled.

This is a weird article. First, despite using an image from “Blink” in the header, it’s actually the Twelfth Doctor episode “Listen” that Moffat identifies as his best Doctor Who episode. What’s weird is how not only does Moffat downplay the episode saying how it “came and went” but the writer of the article also falls into the “no one liked it” trap. Uh, actually, Listen was VERY well regarded back in its day, and for me it was my favourite Who episode until Heaven Sent came along. (I am surprised Moffat didn’t name that one, but he tends to be very modest about his writing. Plus Heaven Sent wasn’t a standalone.)
True, some aspects of the episode were contradicted by Moffat himself later on, and while there are some prime Whouffaldi moments (the cuddle-bug hug, Clara admitting Twelve’s accent is as much a turn-on as mood lighting, and revealing how influential she was in his early life) the episode was also firmly Danny/Clara in that (at least at the time it aired) it suggested Clara’s future would be with Danny not the Doctor. It even has a brief shot of Clara and Danny making out, which is about as racy as this show ever got.
We’ll ignore for now the fact it’s one of a number of episodes that was ruined (don’t @ me, I can provide receipts) by the Timeless Children retcon later.
Listen was an excellent episode, arguably the best of Series 8, and certainly in the top 2 or 3 of the Capaldi era. And that isn’t an outlier opinion, either (unlike, say, those few of us who think Sleep No More was brilliant and ahead of its time). So I’m not sure where Slash Film got the idea few people liked Listen...

The Time Traveler's Wife is Atrocious
I have never understood how anyone can enjoy #TheTimeTraveler'sWife. It's creepy, dull and the character's are all unlikable. The dialogue is some of the worst I've ever experienced. But please read this essay because it's taken three weeks of my life!
Some books are like marmite, this book is more like dog shit. It’s not often that I genuinely detest a book. Something like J. B. Priestley’s An Inspector Calls made me angry because there wasn’t even a hint of an interesting idea anywhere in it. But Audrey Niffenegger’s novel The Time Traveler’s Wife makes me livid because it’s such an intriguing idea that is ruined by atrocious characters,…

midnight is possibly The best episode of doctor who ever (better than blink!!) i think. it is absolutely genius in its writing and storytelling. its a wonderful sci fi mystery with some great social commentary with minimal vfx and it relies pretty much entirely on the talent of the actors to tell the story and it manages to do so in a way that is so compelling and sometimes funny and sometimes utterly chilling ITS SO GOOD

I think 1-3 and 2-4 are so so much funnier with the Edgeworth steel Samurai fanboy context. And just in general thinking about it from his perspective. Like, ok imagine you're a lawyer, a really good one. You've only ever lost one case and that one was kind of a fluke anyway because the actual murderer tried to claim the defense attorney did it when he obviously didn't, and also, a because this is tumblr and we need to get across the appropriate level of cringe, a superwholock fan. And you get called into work one day and find out that Andrew Scott was murdered and Benedict Cumberbatch did it and also you have to be the one to procecute the trial and the defense attorney is a childhood friend who is the only one to ever beat you in court and who you also are developing a gay little crush on. And then as the trial goes on it becomes more and more clear that Andrew Scott drugged and framed Benedict Cumberbatch for the attempted murder of Steven Moffatt because he accidentally killed someone on the set of doctor who 5 years ago and Moffatt had been extorting him. He did this by wearing the big stupid fucking trenchcoat. But it didn't work because Moffatt fought back and had Mark Gatiss cover it up. So the trial ends, with the truth coming out and you arrest Moffat and Gatiss meaning that Sherlock is officially cancelled but they're doing a few new similar series because it's popular.
A year goes by, your life goes to shit, you have a suicide attempt but then decide to just fake your death instead and go eat pray love across Europe. You'd become a lot closer with you crush before hand but you're pretty certain he's mad because of the whole death faking thing. Then you get a call and find out that Jarad Padalecki had murdered Jensen Ackles and your crush and sister are the procecution and defense. Now you are fucking certain Padalecki did it. But your crush is defending him when normally he only ever defends the innocent. So you decide to turn up and given him some advice about the fact hes defending the guilty party. He is very angry about you faking your death but eventuall tells you the only reason he's doing it is because his assistant, also a massive superwholock fan, has been fucking kidnapped and will be killed if he doesn't get a not guilty verdict. You promise to help in whatever way you can.
So the next day you turn up to the courthouse for moral support and then watch your sister get shot in the exact same building and the exact same place on her body that you found out last year you accidentally shot her father when you were 9 right before he killed your father. After a great deal of perstering you manage to persuade her to go to the hospital so now you're prosecuting another idol of yours I guess.
Please just live in this man's reality for a few minutes. Absolutely insane

For fans of Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss’ Sherlock, some interesting news - the BBC Writer’s Room website recently posted the scripts for all 4 seasons to its Script Library.

There's something about how the costuming of Amy Pond (always in miniskirts/heeled boots even when the circumstances actively call against it, never getting to wear period wear except for once in Vampires of Venice for a one-scene disguise before immediately moving into a nightgown and once in a cutaway honeymoon monstage) is directly linked to the more sexist aspects of her storyline writing and that tie is most likely the interviews with Steven Moffatt where he admits to wanting to make Doctor Who "sexier." In this essay I will-

I just realised that because Steven Moffatt stated in The Angels Take Manhattan that the Doctor can't go back to New York City in the 40s because the Ponds are there, it means that either future showrunner will have to ignore that and make it even more of a stupid loophole than it is, or, Stephen Moffat effectively ruined an entire decade in New York City for every future showrunner
I don't know which option is funnier to be honest
