frost, maple, harvest, and fireside for the autumnal asks
autumnal asks
frost: if you could give some advice to your younger self, what would you say?
i'd like to think i'd tell them to stop being so naive and overly optimistic but i don't think i could be that mean, so. practise and stick to the things you think you might want to learn someday because someday you aren't going to have the energy. keep writing, even when you start to feel like it's all shit. ask your parents to let you take acting classes or get into theatre before you get older and the insecurities take the chance away. be recklessly and wildly 'you'.
maple: is there a hobby / skill that you’ve always wanted to try but never did?
Hm. Depends on whether 'try' means 'actively pursued it for a while' or 'ever tried it even once'. If it's the first, I've always wanted to get into parkour/gymnastics, or dancing, or singing, or skateboarding, or drawing, or horseback riding. I've very briefly attempted some of them (and some, like drawing, more than once) with not much success because I always give up. One day I'd like to try it again.
harvest: what fictional character do you most identify with? Why?
Oh, this is a loaded question, lol. There are too many to count and I could go on all day, but let me throw out some that come to mind first. Klaus Hargreeves: because I also am chaotic, queer, and struggle immensely with mental health / and unhealthy coping mechanisms for those things (such as addiction). Gabriel from Supernatural: because I used to be happy-go-lucky, and just wanted a family, and over and over again, I never got it in the way I wanted it. Things happened later in life that broke me and I'm still trying to find my way back. Mick Rory: because, I, too, have a fascination with fire, massive amounts of pent-up aggression, rage, and trauma, and also have a big gay crush on Leonard Snart.
fireside: if you had your dream wardrobe, what would it look like?
I dunno. I feel like mostly I just want my body to look right in my clothes/my dream wardrobe would only be one I was comfortable with if my body actually looked good. But I'd imagine it would be quite similar to Michael Eklund's or Johnny Depp's fashion sense. A bit quirky, lots of accessories, leather, vague punk/biker vibes.

i know there's a vampire in bg3 but surprisingly i actually don't give a shit about that guy. i know they've got lore behind them and i keep seeing fanart about them and it's quite annoying because i have not played the game and the character i actually care about is the evil squid guy 😒😒😒
4. name three authors that were influential to your work and tell why
Rick Riordan because his writing just really vibed with me, and the Percy Jackson series and the Kane Chronicles were spectacular. He taught me a lot about proper representation of characters and storybuilding just with the things he wrote. I’ve heard good things about his other books, too! All around he was just a huge inspiration to me and really it was his books that made me pick writing back up after I fell out of it for a while.
Samantha Simard (@thesammykinz) because her writing is just phenomenal, ok? I was first introduced to her work because of “so it seems i’m someone i’ve never met” and proceeded to read a lot of her other stuff, too. In particular, though, she was influential to me because of “so it seems i’m someone i’ve never met” - her characterization of Dark was (mwah!) sublime, and it highkey had an effect on how I write him now.
(you should really read her work btw!!! It’s so gooooooood)
And finally, an author named mistresspiece on AO3! They wrote this really awesome Marble Hornets fic called “Left Behind as Static” and their writing is just. So good? But also they had a very distinct sort of writing style that I absolutely loved, and it ended up having a big effect on the things I wrote after reading “Left Behind as Static”. They haven’t been on AO3 for a long time, now, though, which makes me kinda sad.
7. early influences on your writing
Rick Riordan, Edgar Allen Poe, and a FanFiction.net author called Starlion.
38. do you reread your own stories?
Haha, yeah, all the time. Sometimes to remind myself of what the fuck’s going on, sometimes to do an edit with fresher eyes several months after completion, and sometimes? Sometimes I just want to experience it again, which always feels weird because when I’m not rereading to edit or to recap there’s this weird disconnect and it doesn’t feel like I’m reading my own writing lmao
they are fucking gorgeous, man. people like to talk shit but they have no imagination. eyes like whiskey? stunning. eyes like the earth after a rainfall? fucking gorgeous. eyes like seawashed sand? beautiful. eyes like caramel coffee? wonderful. dark eyes? light eyes? magnificent. i fucking love them. people need to stop hating on brown eyes, man. they’re gorgeous.
painting: what is the best halloween costume you have ever put together? if none, make one up.
i was never allowed to go out for halloween so i’ve never gotten to do a proper costume, just would play dress up at home and then watch a movie with my brother. if i could go out to halloween parties with the perfect costume though... it would probably be an angel or a demon, with elaborate wings and a unique and ethereal outfit - either something vaguely leather or armoured for demon, or flowing and still lightly armoured for angel - and some sort of makeup or contacts to add a final touch to it.
plants: pick a person to stargaze with you and explain why you picked them.
someone i’m romantically in love with probably. but by name? @faithcryptid. i think that would the most beautiful and revealing experience and would end with some of life’s biggest secrets being revealed in their eyes and their voice.
