Certain sections of F1 media literally can’t breathe without denigrating Susie Wolff. When she got appointed managing director of F1A - it’s because of Toto. When F1A has success - it’s because she’s married to Toto and he’s influenced the other teams. When Toto is accused of something unethical - “did you know his wife works with the FIA?” [even though she’s not involved in this at all and is not accused of having leaked information]

Susie Wolff is a racing driver in her own right. She’s been a successful Team Principal in Formula E, and CEO of a racing team (one that was in direct competition with Mercedes might I add). She was a Formula 1 development driver and the first woman to drive in a Grand Prix weekend for more than 20 years.

She has a career that she’s earned on her own, completely separate from who she chose to marry, and the reduction of her to just “Toto’s wife” - including by other F1 Team Principals - is such blatant, ugly sexism.

“Imagine if Geri Horner was working in F2?” If Geri Horner had Susie’s resume I would love for her to be working in motorsports because we need more women in motorsports at all levels, including at the top?

There’s this stereotype that shiny pokemon are fussy and pampered and generally weaker bc they’re rather babied and adored. And while I understand where that assumption comes from (I’ve seen how some of you guys treat your shinies don’t even lie). I feel like people forget why most shinies are so incredibly rare.

Like, depending on their coloration it wildly decreases their survival rate in the wild. There’s gonna be a difference in living as a blue Vaporeon or a bright pink one, y’know? Makes them struggle to blend in with their environments which, depending on if they’re carnivorous, can make hunting harder, sometimes the pokemon gets rejected from their packs/herds/flocks, they can struggle to get a mate, and makes them an easy target for predators.

So like when you see a shiny in the wild you gotta just stand back and bask in the rarity of it not just for being rare genetically, but the sheer amount of willpower and strength (or luck) that its had to make it this far. That’s pretty badass.

#this isn’t like a universal experience for wild shinies though. we all know some of them hardly sport a difference #every day i’m afraid i’ve run into a shiny somewhere and just let it get away bc it was only a slight tone change lmao #but the first shiny i ever ran into in the wild was a shiny Drowsee and let me say #that thing was FIERCE #never met an aggressive Drowsee before kinda scared me tbh #ended up trading him away but he was a toughy #its not easy being pink #i will say though. breeder sourced shinies are pretty pampered #isn’t that a funny dichotomy though? #in the wild life can be so hard for them. but to us humans we love and adore their differences #pokeblogging #pkmn irl #pkmn posting #pokemon blogging #pokemon irl #unreality

I don’t know, man. you’re jamie drysdale and you probably had absolutely no idea about what was going to happen, you probably thought and had been told that you were a major part of your team’s future, their rebuild, and you’ve set up a home and a life in anaheim with all your friends — some of them are your best friends, now — and teammates, only to get the call while travelling with said teammates. you land with the team, but instead of going with them you get off the plane, grab your bags and catch the next flight back to anaheim, and your head is spinning as the plane takes off because all of a sudden the team have decided that they don’t want you anymore and that you’d be better on a team across the country. and you land again, and you’re back home, but it’s not home anymore, because you’re having to frantically pack up the life you’ve built for yourself into a much-too-small suitcase so that you can move to a city that you have no idea about, so that you can play with a new team that you have no idea about, and it’s all so fast and too much and you ache and ache and ache because your life has been uprooted just like that, and anaheim will probably never be home again, and it’s the middle of the season so you don’t even really get any time to begin to process it before you’re training and playing with your new team, and somewhere in the air between anaheim and philadelphia, you realise that you never really got to say goodbye properly to all the people that you thought you’d be around for so much longer.
