Can you put soda ash in a swimming pool?
Yes, you can use soda ash in a swimming pool, and it serves a specific purpose. Soda ash, also known as sodium carbonate, is often used to raise the pH level of pool water. Maintaining the right pH is crucial for water balance, as it ensures the effectiveness of chlorine and prevents irritation to swimmers' eyes and skin.
To use soda ash, follow these simple steps:
Measure pH Levels: Use a reliable pH test kit to measure the current pH of your pool water.
Calculate Dosage: Refer to the product instructions or use an online calculator to determine the appropriate amount of soda ash needed based on your pool size and current pH level.
Apply the Soda Ash: With the pool pump running, broadcast the soda ash evenly over the water surface. Avoid adding it directly to the skimmer.

Effective Ways to Remove Water Bugs from Your Pool
Tumblr media
If you're a pool owner, you know that maintaining a clean pool is essential for a safe and enjoyable swimming experience. One of the most common issues that pool owners face is the presence of water bugs. These pests can not only be a nuisance but can also carry diseases and pose a risk to your health. In this article, we'll cover some effective ways to remove water bugs from your pool.
Skim the Surface
The first step in removing water bugs from your pool is to skim the surface regularly. Using a fine mesh skimmer net, you can easily remove bugs, leaves, and other debris that may have fallen into the water. Skimming your pool daily is a simple but effective way to prevent water bugs from breeding in your pool.
Shock Your Pool
If skimming your pool isn't enough to remove all the water bugs, it may be necessary to shock your pool. Shocking your pool involves adding a large dose of chlorine to the water to kill any bugs and bacteria. Make sure to follow the instructions on the chlorine package carefully and wear protective gloves and goggles when handling the chemical.
Use an Algaecide
Water bugs are attracted to algae, so if your pool has an algae problem, you're likely to have a water bug problem too. Using an algaecide is an effective way to eliminate both problems at once. Algaecides work by killing the algae, which in turn eliminates the bugs that feed on it.
Try Natural Remedies
If you prefer to avoid chemical treatments, there are several natural remedies you can try to eliminate water bugs from your pool. One of the most effective natural remedies is adding essential oils to your pool. Peppermint, lavender, and eucalyptus oils are known to repel water bugs. You can also try using vinegar or baking soda to keep your pool clean and bug-free.
Keep Your Pool Covered
Prevention is key when it comes to removing water bugs from your pool. One of the best ways to prevent bugs from getting into your pool is to keep it covered when it's not in use. This will prevent bugs, leaves, and other debris from falling into the water and breeding.
In conclusion, water bugs can be a real problem for pool owners, but with the right techniques, you can keep them under control. Skimming your pool regularly, shocking your pool, using an algaecide, natural remedies, and keeping your pool covered are all effective methods for removing water bugs from your pool. By following these steps, you can enjoy a clean, bug-free pool all summer long.

14 Cartoons About butcher knives That'll Brighten Your Day
Kitchen Utensils
Kitchen utensils are a group of tools, without which I can't imagine any activity in the kitchen. These irreplaceable products are available in a wide range of materials including bamboo, stainless steel, wood, silicone, plastic, and even ceramic. Kitchen utensils not only help you quickly cook dinner but also bring order and tidiness to the kitchen. Useful kitchen utensils are essential for many kitchen activities that we do every day. They are indispensable for preparing meals, organizing a party, and equipping the kitchen with all the items we need. Kitchen utensils are made of various natural materials, but also of plastic, and their purposes are very diverse.
Spoons, skimmers, spatulas, tongs, beaters are some of the utensils we use in the kitchen to make the preparation of food easier. However, for the functionality of these kitchen utensils, as well as their impact on our health, the material from which they were made is of great importance. Let’s dig deeper and learn more about the different kitchen utensils that are available and also find out the advantages and disadvantages of wood, metal, plastic, silicone, and ceramics.
Which material is best and safest for our health and the environment? How to choose durable kitchen utensils? How to take care of specific kitchen utensils?
We are going to try as much as possible to help you make the best decision on finding the best kitchen utensils.
Wooden kitchen utensils
For centuries , this raw material has been used to make kitchen utensils. Even today, wooden spoons or spatulas are still very popular - they are especially recommended for use with pans or Teflon pots because they do not damage their surface (which can release dangerous and even carcinogenic substances). However, caution must  be taken especially after each use . In addition, the natural raw material tends to soak up grease, stain, and sometimes absorb the intense odors of certain foods (such as fish or meat) . Noble species of wood such as beech or oak do not have these properties, but they are used less and less to make kitchen utensils
What is the best way to treat and clean wooden kitchen utensils?
Wood does not tolerate excessive moisture, so all wooden utensils should be wiped dry immediately after washing them. Damp, scratched wood is a pleasant environment for bacteria and fungi. Wooden kitchen utensils  tend to discolor easily, and are not dishwasher safe.
Fortunately, there are several ways to toughen and strengthen wooden utensils. Before using it for the first time, it’s a good idea to treat a wooden spoon, board, or pestle with cooking oil (such as canola or olive oil) and let it dry. A layer of cooking oil will help prevent the wood from absorbing moisture, odors, and discolor. If our kitchen utensils smell bad after contact with food, it’s worth soaking them overnight in apple cider vinegar or rubbing them with fresh lemon.
How do I get rid of the discoloration on wooden utensils? Sprinkle them generously with lemon juice and coarse salt, then wipe them with a clean cloth. If you notice splinters on the surface of a wooden spoon or cutting board, sand it down with sandpaper, then treat it with cooking oil and let it dry.
If your wooden utensils are greasy, you can “recover” them by leaving them overnight in a solution prepared from five teaspoons of baking soda dissolved in a liter of water.
 Bamboo kitchen utensils
Bamboo kitchen utensils have gained a lot of popularity in recent times. No wonder bamboo as a material has practically only advantages. Bamboo is used to make not only kitchen utensils but also dishes, furniture, flooring, and fabrics. It is easier to list the things that cannot be made from bamboo than those that can.
What are the advantages of bamboo kitchen utensils?
First of all, kitchen utensils made of bamboo are lightweight and durable. Thanks to the properties of this plant, they do not absorb odors, do not discolor, and are resistant to moisture, and dry faster than wood. Since they dry faster , this means they make it difficult for mold, fungi, and bacteria to grow and this is a great advantage for our health.
Bamboo kitchen utensils are inexpensive and biodegradable. Bamboo is food neutral, so it does not affect the taste or smell of foods. It is highly recommended that bamboo kitchen utensils not be washed in the dishwasher as  excess water and excess heat can damage their surface. The dishwasher detergents may also be detrimental to the bamboo kitchen utensils.  It is best to wash bamboo products with warm water and liquid soap and then wipe them dry if you want them to last longer.
Silicone kitchen utensils
A great option for people who like products made of synthetic materials is silicone kitchen utensils. Silicone has many benefits, and some of the biggest ones include heat and cold resistance, flexibility, and non-stick properties. They are heat resistant up to 400 degrees fahrenheit.   Silicone utensils do not absorb odors, do not affect the taste and smell of food, and are safe for food. Silicone kitchen utensils will not absorb any liquids or oils as these will easily slide off. It is safe for food because it does not cause any undesirable reactions. It does not emit harmful substances, and it does not use chemicals in the production of silicone utensils that could get into the food.
Kitchen utensils made from this material are very durable as they will not easily shatter or crack , so you save money because you do not have to be constantly replacing them. They are recyclable , which is a great plus. Once you are done with them you can send them to a recycle center where they can be recycled and turned into something else useful unlike plastic utensils. So, silicone kitchen utensils are some of the best kitchen utensils out there.
What is the best way to treat and clean Silicone kitchen utensils?
Before using your silicone kitchen utensils for the first time, it is important to wash them with soap and warm water. It is also very important to wash them after each use and then dry them completely. Hot water and grease cutting soap are highly recommended to effectively clean your silicone kitchen utensils.

Metal kitchen utensils
Metal kitchen utensils are some of the best kitchen accessories out there, made of stainless steel. Stainless steel utensils look striking, especially in modern and industrial kitchens.
Stainless steel utensils are really popular, because of quite a number of reasons. Stainless steel kitchen utensils  are more durable and resistant than wood. They are very easy to clean , they do not trap  dirt, do not deform, and do not absorb odors from food products, and do not affect the taste and quality of food . Stainless steel kitchen utensils are more resistant to high temperatures during preparation of food. Nor do they  lose their properties when exposed to chemicals, which are not lacking in kitchen delicacies.
It is  important to exercise care when using stainless steel kitchen utensils on certain pots and pans. Since they are quite hard, it is not recommended to use them for Teflon and enamel pans and pots, as they can easily scratch them.

Ceramic kitchen utensils .
When you hear the word  ceramic,  you probably think of dishes, coffee mugs, and plant pots. Of course, ceramic as a material is great, but now it’s making its way more widely into the kitchen and doing its best to cleaver knives overtake stainless steel and glass. Ceramic utensils are replacing classic kitchen utensils made of other materials. Bringing together  stainless steel and ceramic makes it the perfect combination to create the best kitchen accessories for  your kitchen.Ceramic is an excellent material that will not be so harmful to our environment , as with such items as disposable  plastic kitchen utensils .
If you’ve never had the pleasure of cooking with a set of quality kitchen utensils, Ceramic kitchen utensils  are increasingly showing up in many kitchens. Considering their advantages, it’s no wonder! A few downsides may be their limited availability due to the handmade nature of these amazing cooking utensils as well as the price, because when it comes to ceramic being used to make kitchen utensils it can be quite  expensive, but sometimes it is worth it to get a kitchen utensil that we will use every day and will not harm our environment and our health and family.
We have made it easier for you to access these high quality ceramic kitchen utensils. Here we present to you our
Belgium Stainless Steel Ceramic Kitchen Utensils
What is the best way to treat and clean stainless steel kitchen utensils?
Using baking soda -  Sometimes baking soda and dish cleaning liquid are all you need to get rid of any stubborn stains. A baking soda and dish cleaning paste is an excellent and affordable way to bring back that luster and shine which can be lost over time. Gently scrubbing with this paste will help remove any stubborn stains and your stainless steel kitchen utensils will be looking like new in no time.
Using Vinegar-Another great way to clean stained stainless steel kitchen utensils is to use vinegar. Simply dampen a piece of cloth with vinegar and use it to wipe your flatware sets.
Olive oil -can also be used to bring back that shine by applying it to a cloth and then wiping your stainless steel kitchen utensils  using this cloth.
Plastic kitchen utensils
In addition to wooden and stainless steel  kitchen utensils , there are also utensils made of plastic, especially nylon kitchen utensils. These types of items can be easily washed in dishwashers. They do not soak up water, making it difficult for bacteria to grow. Plastic utensils also do not absorb odors from food products, and  are dishwasher safe and those made of polyethylene are heat resistant. However, plastic utensils also have drawbacks. The disadvantages however outweigh the advantages . Some of them (especially the cheaper ones from unreliable sources) may contain bisphenol A, a chemical that is released when exposed to high temperatures or mechanical damage. Some scientific studies have shown that the consequences of its absorption by the body can be obesity, hormonal disorders, and even an increased risk of certain cancers. Even though plastic kitchen utensils may look like a good cheap alternative, we highly recommend using stainless steel kitchen utensils. We believe that your health and our environment are more important than trying to save a few cents.  It makes more sense to turn to stainless steel kitchen utensils or silicone kitchen utensils as these are better for our health and also betet for the environment. So, choosing stainless steel kitchen utensils or silicone kitchen utensils should be a no brainer.

A few weeks ago, I finally tried my hand at making pretzels from scratch; now that I finally have a spider skimmer spoon and pretzel salt. It's not the worst attempt, but obviously more room for improvement. Shaping is a little tricky, despite not being complicated and cooking, flipping and removing them in the bicarbonate of soda and water solution is very difficult, especially when you're not great at multitasking. The taste was good, so this is something I'll definitely be making again, especially since I could not go to Oktoberfest, a fireworks display on bonfire night or winter wonderland this year.

How To Clean A Deep Fryer (6 Easy Steps)
Deep fryers are great for crispy chips, crunchy tempura, and delicious fried chicken. If lingering grease is preventing you from enjoying your delicious treats, you need to learn how to clean a deep fryer properly. Learn how to properly clean a deep frying pan and get other tips from experts. How To Clean A Deep Fryer 1. Turn the Deep Fryer On and Unplug It Do not clean your deep fryer if it is still plugged. To avoid burning, let the oil cool completely. Do not add water to hot oil containers. Otherwise, the mixture may explode. 2. Remove the basket and place it in a sink. Place the basket in a sink and wash it with the warm soap. You may need to soak the basket in hot water for several hours if food particles have stuck to it. It’s time to get in a good workout. To remove any debris, use a vigorous scrub motion with your brush or scourer. Rinse and dry on a rack. 3. Drain the Oil Out of Your Fryer. After the oil has cooled, take the oil out of the deep fat fryer. Keep the oil cool in an oil container that has a lid. The coil should be discarded if it has gone rancid. If the coil has gone rancid, i.e., it smells or changes in color, you can dispose of it by placing it into a bag. To prevent oil drips from your countertop, place a container or bag inside the sink when pouring oil out of the fryer. 4. Clean the oil holding area of your fryer To remove food particles, scrape the bottom and sides with a plastic spatula. If your deep fryer is oily, you can use a kitchen towel for cleaning and soaking up any oil residue. Keep going until all of the oil is absorbed by the kitchen towel. It is now possible to clean the deep fryer. Place a bowl of warm soapy water next to the fryer. Use your sponge to clean. To remove any grime stubbornly stuck to the pan, heat some water in a fryer and let it sit for about 30 minutes. You can use vinegar-water solution or baking soda water paste to clean the interior of your deep fryer if it remains oily after washing with Soapy Water. After drying the entire fryer, use a clean cloth to wipe down the heating elements and allow it to dry completely. 5. Clean Your Fryer’s Controls, Handles, And Exterior. A damp towel and a little vinegar can make a big difference. It is important not to add too much moisture to the oil as it will cause gumming and make it more difficult to clean. Electronics are not able to withstand moisture, which can pose a safety risk. To remove any crusted areas, you can also use your toothbrush. 6. Refill your deep fryer with oil, replace the basket, and plug it in Make sure everything is properly seated before you begin to fry. How Often Should You Clean the Deep Fryer? To avoid grease buildup, make sure to change the oil frequently and clean your fryer once in a while. If the fryer isn’t used often, it’s a good idea not to change the oil and clean a deep fryer after each use. It doesn’t matter how often you fry in your deep fat fryer. However, it is important to know how to clean it after each use. Salting your food in a deep fat fryer will make it last longer. After the food has been removed from the fryer, you can add salt to it. Salt and hot oil create free radicals that cause oil to break down faster, which can lead to unpleasant flavors and smells. Keep the cooking temperature at 375 degrees Fahrenheit. The higher the temperature, the more oil is oxidized. How Often Should You Change Cooking Oil? To remove any oil that has been contaminated by the deep fryer, use a skimmer to run across the oil. Oil should be changed once per week if you fry on a regular basis. You can change the oil once a week if you are a frequent fryer. You should replace your oil when you notice the following signs: Burnt smell; Burnt taste in fried foods, Darker color in fried food. Fryer Maintenance Tips You can check for monthly gas leaks by cleaning the gas-conducting pipes with a soap-based cleaner and looking for bubbles. If bubbles are detected, turn off the gas immediately and call a technician to repair the machine. If gas is seen leaking from the fryer, you should immediately repair the hoses and parts. We recommend that you take steps to reduce foreign objects such as food or water in oil. This can reduce oil quality and taste, as well as causing problems with fried foods. When cooking food, keep the frying pan away from the oil vat to reduce the chance of any loose particles getting into the oil. You can extend the life of your cooking oil by keeping it at a low temperature and covering the fryer during busy times. Conclusion Regular cleaning of your deep fat fryer will ensure that your dishes are fresh and delicious. These steps will not only be good for your business but also save you time and money over the long term.
